Brand New
My apologies for not posting in a long time, I have some bad news and good news.
Bad News
I’m putting the RobJNova channel on hiatus for a while and focusing my efforts on something else. I appreciate all the support given to the RobJNova channel, it was a pleasure to work with a lot of different developers and make awesome connections.
Good News
I’m putting my efforts into a new channel that I thought I could never do. I always wanted to record games from my Sega Genesis, I still have the original one that I was given to as a child :O I did A LOT of research of how to record games from a Sega Genesis and turns out the Elgato Capture Card was my best option. So I did, even MORE, research of how to hook it up and believe me I had my doubts when I saw that glorious Sega logo on my laptop as well as the tv I knew I did it!
I recorded my first video as you see in the picture of this post! Click on the link below and tell me what you think!

IndieCade #ArtWall: Black Future ‘88
Black Future '88 was submitted to IndieCade 2017: [SUBMIT YOUR GAME HERE]!
Artist: Zac Bolubasz Game: Black Future '88 Developer: SUPERSCARYSNAKES
“This is a concept for the first boss in Black Future '88, the Prophet 5. Similar to the actual Prophet-5 synthesizer, we wanted to invoke something that was incredibly classic, versatile in purpose, but with a real hidden dark side. A weapon with teeth, so to speak. In BF88, the Prophet 5 is a rage-a-aholic rampant AI which haunts you while you traverse the first zone.”

New View
Hello, my beloved followers! I have great news that I am getting that much closer to having a new computer for my YouTube channel! With a new computer also comes new structuring of how my Tumblr blog will run. As you may have noticed my content on Tumblr has been craptastic at best! I just found that doing a video and converting it into a blog format wasn’t worth the effort anymore. So stay tuned for what I’ll be posting in the future.....it’s a secret and a work in progress right now. I’m just ironing out the details and making sense of it all. I’m hoping you will all like the idea and I hope it generates new followers yet to come!
Other news my YouTube Channel is doing surprisingly well with the Indie Game Highlight segment. I’m definitely going to stick with it as I get my new computer, apparently some people love my insights and humor! Always a good feeling haha!
Thank you so much as always for the support, stay awesome, and I’ll be seeing you in the Nova!

Goodnight Sweet Prince
Hello my beloved followers! So something bad happened last week regarding my gaming computer....it died. It was a hand me down from two other people so I’m glad I got as much mileage as I did out of it. RobJNova will still continue as I will be posting videos of indie game trailers and analyzing them. I will eventually get a gaming PC but I feel like it will take about two months.
Thank you so much for your constant support and as always I’ll be seeing you in the Nova! Also please check out my recent video of me analyzing some gameplay of a fast paced arcade platformer called Damsel!

I Have Become The Ultimate Metal Head!
This game was a ton of fun to play on my channel and I finally beat it! I did so much recording for this game a lot of fails for sure but a lot of moments where I couldn’t believe I lived. I did a full review on Steam about it and here it is!
Steam Review
A fun addictive roguelike shooter with an inspirational emphasis on the metal music genre!
-> What I Loved Most About The Game - Each boss was unique and was affiliated with a different band, the music was awesome to jam out to while you are kicking ♥♥♥! - The casual enemies you encounter are creative; for example you have a screaming vocalist who shoots a beam across the screen, there is a "groupie" where if she kisses you she deals damage per like 10 seconds, she takes away 1 point of life in the end. - The mass amount of gear you collect to make your projectiles is utterly insane, at one point I had a guitar that shoots 5 projectiles at once in a cone with increased size, speed, and damage, Needless to say nothing could stand in my way! - Even though you die (you will die a lot in this game) you can buy permanent power ups such as a slide, extra item in the shop to buy, a random power up in your first room, and etc. -> What Needs To Be Improved - Power up explanations were not the greatest, for example there are 4 different kind of string power ups you can get and the effect will appear on every odd shot. Here is my somewhat understanding of the string power ups: -Kevlar: Seems it gave you some bonus damage and could go through multiple enemies? -Fire: Adds a fire effect to the enemies and some bonus damage....but I couldn't tell if it did damage per second? -Poison: Same thing as fire had no clue if it dealt damage per second? -Black: This is one of the strongest power ups in the game and it seemed it gives you a whole heap of bonus damage. Aside from the string power ups there was one more that was confusing until I used it which was the mjolnir power up. It heals you fully but it doesn't say that when you pick it up, so as a new player you think oh cool more damage, but then you wait to use it on a tough enemy and then it just heals you...not having explanations like that can screw up strategies. - Special abilities do not deal damage to the boss except for one of them, they're only meant to help you clear rooms. It kind of sucks having a whole arsenal of abilities and that none of them works on a boss. - Like everyone else has said the bullet spongy bosses can get quite repetitive especially if you're guitar is lack luster in damage -> Overall I love this game, and would recommend it to anyone if you love shooters, tough bosses, and killer gear to amplify your guitar! It's got great playability with the unlockable characters and if you finish the game you can keep going and see how insane your guitar can get by doing the levels over and over again! It's also got a cool co-op mode!

A 2D Castle of Madness
A mighty hero shall explore the depth of the evil castle with many floors to explore, monsters to slay, and shards to collect to create the sword that will vanquish the evil entity! You’re given three heroes to choose from which have their strengths, weakness, basic attack, and heavy attack. There is also three locked heroes which I’m assuming can be unlocked by beating the game.
For my let’s play I chose the Cardinal; he’s high in attack, moderate speed, and low in defense. His basic attack is ranged and the projectiles are random but they do go in a pattern, so let’s say his basic attack goes diagonal it will go diagonal for a set number of times then switch to going straight if that makes sense. His heavy attack is a three triangular projectile attack, you can only use it a certain amount of times but you can find items to replenish it. The heavy attack is good for clusters of enemies....if you’re on the right angle. Cardinal interested me the most because he reminds me of the Egyptian God Anubis and plus he looks pretty bad ass. Playing with him has a slight learning curve as you need to understand the pattern of his basic attack and use it towards your advantage.
Throughout the floors you can get power ups which help your hero immensely by increasing defense, speed, map awareness, and more! You must be wary of the debuffs such as the book of stuck which can make you unable to attack and blindness which makes you unable to see your health and number of times you can use your heavy attack. Some monsters are pretty tough and I’ve learned that the statue monster revives everything in that room so there are instances where you will have to just avoid a room all together. Traps and ambushes are common throughout the rooms, you need to be wary of everything! Your overall goal is to collect the five shards which is incredibly tough and if you do play this game I highly recommend reading the manual, it explains everything in detail.
Overall it’s a fun 2D survival dungeon crawler with lots of playability and I’m looking forward to attempting it again with my favorite hero the Cardinal!

Get Out Of My Dungeon!
A skeleton with one mission, he must defend his dungeon against raiders trying to steal his loot! Skelattack is a unique action, adventure, platformer as it takes a twist on you being the npc killing the raiders in your dungeon. Now with this being a demo on Steam Greenlight your only given a taste of what’s to come. I love the art direction behind the game as it’s cartoony and fun, and who couldn’t adore that cute bat companion who can cast spells for you.
I like the idea of clearing the room before you enter the next one, it kind of gives me that old World of Warcraft nostalgia feel of clearing areas in raids. You can attack, double jump, and cast 3 different spells in this demo; cure, fire, and air jump. I’ve noticed a few bugs and things that the dev has already mentioned that he will fix. I just hope there’s more to the game then just clearing rooms and toggling switches to get to the next sub room, I’m also kind of hoping there will be a minimap it can add some depth to the exploration! I’m looking forward to the future updates of Skelattack and wishing it the best on Steam Greenlight!

Feel The Power of My Guitar!
Your guitar is the ultimate weapon to destroy the evil within the possessed metal heads while rocking out to awesome metal soundtracks! When I first saw the trailer I couldn’t get over the bullet hell and crazy power ups you get in this game. The metal soundtrack was also a plus, I love listening to metal and a game that takes inspiration from that genre is amazing. This is what I’ve experienced in the game so far:
You clear rooms by defeating the evil metal heads and random beer bottle bats
Everything seems randomized from the layout of the map, enemies, and bosses
You can collect items, power ups, and coins for upgrades (I’m assuming)
There’s characters to unlock
Really insane boss battles
The only thing I’m hoping to pick up a bit as I’m playing is the speed and power of my projectiles. It just seems a bit slow at the moment, but then again it is just level one so I know there’s going to be a lot of upgrading to uncover. Overall I’m happy I came across this awesome roguelike shooter and I can’t wait to see what other insane bosses I encounter!

Die You Alien Scum!
Embracing stage one as I’m upgrading weapons, building walls, and taking on hordes of blood thirsty aliens. When I first saw the trailer to this game it immediately took me back to the Starcraft and Warcraft survival map mods. Those were a ton of fun to play, you would upgrade your hero and just kill oncoming hordes of enemies. Even though Pixel Gladiator is in early access I feel it has it’s core gameplay nailed; you kill to survive, you upgrade, and repeat. There were some mechanics that flew over my head a bit such as getting in the line of sight for the camera to earn money, after all you are trying to entertain your audience. The UI of purchasing and upgrading your weapons could be more descriptive, once you purchase a weapon for example you’ve purchased it you have to go into that menu again to equip it, I feel it could be simplified. The enemies were pretty tough especially the bullet barrage spiders...but seeing them explode it was extremely satisfying! Overall I think it’s a fun survival shooter that still needs polishing but if it’s this fun at early access I can’t wait to see more updates in the future instalments.

Onions Give Me Power!
The power of onions give me the ability to shoot tornadoes to tackle on medium mode for chapters 9 and 10. I thought easy was tough, medium is even tougher and especially with the added goal of trying to get perfect in these chapters. The monsters are tough and you die that much quicker, strategy was incredibly important as synchronizing the tar towers was crucial to deal the most damage with the sniper and bomb towers. There were a few moments of panic as my main character died and my bowman subbed in, what I’ve learned from this is you must have at least two characters in your team levelled quite a bit with good weapons! All in all I’m terrified of hard mode...I can’t imagine the madness.
