҉ * ‧͙ ⋆ ⁺ ༓ ☾ Chapter 15 - The Invasion
I felt shivers going down my spine as I heard Sokka’s dad take over Sokka’s overwhelming speech. I look at the crowd full of people from different regions, none of them I was familiar with. If only my tribe was able to participate during the invasion, but even then the army of my tribe suffered during that horrible event of the fire nation. It doesn't help that we're isolationists and my tribe is all the way up in the north, making it difficult to reach near the fire nation territory at this time. I take a deep breath as the others cheer loudly, in determination to defeat the fire nation. This is the anxious moment which I was dreading to experience, all I could do is thank Yue for shining the moon over the sun to give us hope.
I was able to focus on the blood bending after meeting the crazy old lady, even if Katara couldn't agree with the idea of manipulating others and the old lady taking advantage of this power, I couldn't help but feel that I need to use it during the invasion. This power saved Katara, I know it could be used to help others.
҉ ☾
“Aang take this pouch.” I toss the pouch towards Aang, him catching it almost immediately. “It has water in it, making you able to waterbend even if you're not near any body of water.” I explained. Aang nodded “Thank you Y/N.” He seems a lot calmer than yesterday, the eyebags are now completely unnoticeable and he seems a lot more energetic. It felt like he changed so much from when I first met him, it is quite admirable honesty.
The boats moved towards the fire nation's base, through the fog surrounding us. We saw a faint statue of “The great gates of Azulon” amongst the fog. “I don't see any gates.” Katara explained, maneuvering her head to make sure she didn't see anything. “The gates are most likely hidden.” I responded. Just as I suspected, a fire netted gate rose up, leading us to go into the invention the inventor made by Sokka’s request. I used my water bending along with one of the swamp benders to keep the vehicle moving forwards, shortly after there was a mini stop to take a break, everyone getting up to stretch and to catch their stamina. Sokka, Toph, Katara and I met Aang above the water, the anxiety was higher than normal. “Are you ready to show the fire nation that the avatar is alive?” Sokka asked Aang, to which he responded “I'm ready.” in a determined tone. This felt too melancholy, participating in the group hug not knowing what's going to happen next. “I hope you kick some serious Fire lord butt, twinkle toes.” Toph eased the air with her comment. “We believe in you, show him what you're made of Avatar.” I added, giving a final squeeze before all of us pulled away just in time as break ended.
҉ ☾
I stood beside the swamp benders, to bend against the fire nation's guards. The impact of the explosions made me flinch internally, however we were able to dodge and make the guards move back. I didn't even have to use blood bending…yet. Toph and I gather with the two siblings with their dad. Katara rests her father against a tree stump, his injuries being bearable however unhealable. I bite the inside of my cheek in thought, I really should’ve brought along the spirit oasis water when I had the chance back at home. Shortly Aang flew over to us and landed right in front of us, making us look at him in confusion. Shouldn’t he be with the fire lord? “Please tell me the fire lord turned out to be a big wimp, and you didn't even need the eclipse to take him down.” Sokka pleaded as Aang kneeled down to his level. “He wasn't home, no one was.” Aang admitted. All of us widened our eyes in realization, he knew… “It's over, the fire lord is probably long gone…” Aang sighed in defeat, resting his head down in disappointment. “I doubt he would go to this fair.” I spoke up, making the others turn towards me. “There could be a secret bunker, the fire nation always thinks ahead.”
“If it’s an underground secret bunker we’re looking for, I'm just the girl to find it.” Toph points to herself. “The mechanist gave me this timing device.” Sokka pulls out some mechanism, laying flat against his palm. “It looks like we’ve got about ten minutes until the full eclipse. Ten minutes to find the fire lord…”
Sokka, Toph, Aang and I separated from the others to find the secret layer. Appa landed on the grassy portion of the volcano and shortly after, Toph managed to find the secret layer quickly and we quickly started following behind Toph. “What would we do without you?” Sokka said joyfully. “Perish and burn in hot magma.” Toph answered nonchalantly as she continued to navigate the hidden layer. “Or get thrown into captivity way sooner.” I respond, glaring at my surroundings. I heard Sokka behind me yelp in fear from the magma, making me hold back my laugh.
҉ ☾
“This is it.” I said, all of us standing in front of a huge door with a fire nation logo on it. Aang breathed in heavily before breathing out, internally preparing himself on what's to come. Behind that door must be the fire lord. “I'm ready. I'm ready to face the firelord.” Just as Aang finished his sentence, he used his air bending to push the door open, breaking it in the process. As we ran through the dust, the figure that sat in the chair didn't look like the firelord we knew. It was Azula, the firelord's daughter. I widened my eyes in shock from the scene, Azula staring back at us with her usual evil smile. “I had a hunch that you survived.” Azula spoke up calmly. “But it doesn't matter, I’ve known about this invasion for months.”
“Where is he?!” Aang yelled back. “Where is the Fire lord?!”
“Hm, you mean I’m not good enough for you? You’re hurting my feelings.” Azula responded humorously and dramatically. I twitch my eyes in irritation, still holding my stance to easily use my water bend. “Stop wasting our time and give us the information.” Sokka demanded. “And stick to the truth.” Toph leaned forward, holding her fist. “I'll be able to tell if you're lying.”
“Are you sure?” Azula taunted. “I'm a pretty good liar. I am a 400-foot-tall purple platypus bear, with pink horns and silver wings.” Azula said smoothly, Toph really had really no choice but to admit. “Okay, you’re good, I admit it.” Toph accepted and used her earth bending close around Azula, keeping her in place. “But you really ought to consider telling the truth anyway.”
It didn't take long for the rocks enclosing her to break apart effortlessly, making me stare at her dumbfoundedly. Casually brushing the dirt off her shoulders “When I left Ba Sing Se, I brought home some souvenirs.” Right on que, two guards from Ba Sing Se fell down in front of Azula, shielding her from us. Aang attempts to use his air bending to push the guards away but only hitting the huge rock borders instead.
Aang managed to push through the rocks with his earth bending, going ahead to chase Azula. I pull back one of the Ba Sing Se with my blood bending, tossing him somewhere against the rocks. From the corner of my eyes I swore I saw Azula turning her head to see the motion, smirking in response. Sokka popped out from one of the holes in the rocks only to duck to make way for the rest of us. “I can't pin her down, She’s too quick.” Aang spoke up. “Push her close to me, I would be able to use my blood bending on her if I could reach her.” I explained. Aang and Toph nodded, Toph going in another direction in the process. Going through another pair of rocks I was able to grasp Azula’s blood, making her come to a complete stop. “Wait! Aang, Toph, Y/N! Stop attacking.” We all three turned around, I still had control over Azula. “Don't you see what she’s doing? She’s just playing with us.” Sokka caught up to us. “She’s not even trying to win this fight!” I immediately let go of Azula’s blood, making her shoulders loosen. Her iconic smile itched on her face back again “Not true, I’m giving my all.”
“You’re trying to keep us here and waste all our time!” Toph pointed accusingly at Azula. “I think your friend just said that, genius. And since you can't see, I should tell you I’m rolling my eyes.” Azula mocked, rolling her eyes just as she said that. “I'll roll your whole head!” Toph spat angrily. “She’s just baiting you again.” Sokka held Toph’s shoulder to console her. “Okay, so what do we do?” Aang turned towards Sokka to gain an answer. “Just ignore her?”
“We don't have a choice, we just have to get out of here and find the fire lord on our own somehow.” We nodded at Sokka’s explanation as we followed behind him. “It's a trap. Don't say I didn't warn you.” Azula spoke up, trying to get us to stop. “Ignore!” Sokka warned us as we almost turned around to face her. “Come on, northern water tribe princess, you can easily catch me by using your blood bending.” I flinch at my title, but continue to follow Sokka’s orders. “So, Sokka’s your name, right?” Azula asked, “My favorite prisoner used to mention you all the time.” This made Sokka turn around. “She was convinced that you were going to come rescue her. Of course, you never came, and she gave up on you.” Azula taunted even more, making Sokka’s eyes widened, turning to the side to let his tears fall in anger. His frustrated yell echoed against the walls as he ran towards Azula. Toph quickly used her bending to pin Azula’s left hand against the wall, Sokka gripped Azula yelling in front of her face. “Where is Suki?” He demanded. “Answer me!” I lay my hands on Sokka’s shoulder, trying to pull him back lightly. “Sokka, she isn't going to talk.” I warned him. Sokka considered what I was saying before yelling back at Azula again. “Where are you keeping her!?”
“Oh! Sounds like the fire-bending’s back on.” Azula kicked her leg full of fire against Sokka, making him fall back. She broke from the rocks restraining her arms, making us move back. “Dad’s all the way at the end of the hall and down the secret stairway on the left. I'm sure he’ll be more than happy to see you now.” Azula ran forward. Leaving us behind with our own guilt.
“I fell for it!” Sokka yelled out in frustration towards himself. “I used up all our time.”
“It's not your fault, Sokka.” Toph reassured Sokka. “Azula was ready for us. She has every move planned out.”
“And now it’s too late.” Sokka looked away in disappointment. Maybe it’s not too late.” Aang spoke up. “The eclipse is over, but I can face the fire lord anyway.” Aang said in determination. “Are you crazy?” I said to Aang. “That isn't a good idea.” I attempted to convince Aang. “But I'm ready! I came here with a job to do, and everyone’s counting on me.”
“The fire lord knew we were coming this time,” Toph explained. “We thought we had surprise on our side, but we didn't. It just wasn't our day.” Toph sighed. “What we need to do now is go and help our friends.” “I guess you guys are right…” Aang responded. Sokka reached for his shoulder “You’ll have another chance. I know you will.”
I nodded from behind Sokka. “We have time Aang, there is always a next time.”
We landed over the ground of the fire nation, all of us completely disappointed. Katara looked at us expecting to hear a positive answer, only for Sokka to explain our defeat. I see the aircrafts of the fire nation above us, Aang stating he’s going to destroy as many as he can, Katara following shortly after. In the end, we weren't able to get all of us back to safety, all the adults sacrificing themselves to get captured for the kids sake. I felt my heart twist in despair from the hugs, none of them wanting to let go. I help the others get up on Appa as Aang gets up to make a short speech, a thank you speech for their bravery and determination. Appa took off with the rest of us, making the people who helped us smaller and more distant, slowly getting consumed by the clouds. “I know just a place for us to go where we’ll be safe for a while. The western air temple.” Aang yelled out over the wind as we nodded. Appa, in command, flies towards the western air temple.
Not aware that there was a familiar someone following just behind them…

a/n: I finished this one quite quicker than I thought I would, and I think this is the longest one HAHA. ALSO LAST CHAPTER OF NO ZUKO!!! I'm quite excited cause I can finally actually write Zuko x Reader. I wasn't a biggest fan on writing his chapter, I wanted to scrap it but it wouldn't make sense to. I am currently working on the other chapters so it shouldn't take that long, hopefully I would feel more motivation since I am actually writing Zuko x Reader. I should also update the AO3 fic as well...ANYWAYS take care of yourself!! :)

҉ * ‧͙ ⋆ ⁺ ༓ ☾ Chapter 14 - Sparky-Sparky Boom Man!!
Everything was going great. We saved a polluted village even if Katara had to lie about being “the painted lady”, Sokka got trained by a swordsman even if he had to lie about him being from the fire nation only to admit it at the end and only to reveal that the master already knew from the star, and now we were getting chased by a…metal man…? Luckily riding Appa rescued us, especially Aang which I assume that Aang was the one mental man was going for. Currently we’re watching Aang in the spirit world on the previous Avatar Roku's home. Aang got up, his mind still in the spirit world and squatted, grunting while letting out gas. The rest of us looked at each other completely bewildered at what we saw. “Do they have bathrooms in the spirit world?” Katara asked, completely confused. “As a matter of fact, they do not.” Sokka answered.
The sun was rising by the time Aang woke up, he told us everything about the history of Avatar Roku and Sozin. From the beginning to the end. Even though Toph said all fire nation people were born evil, Aang explained how Avatar Roku was just as fire nation as Sozin but didn't turn out that way. “Do you really think friendships can really last more than one lifetime?” Toph moved her head down to the rocky floor beneath us. I grabbed her hand with mine and so did Aang. “I don't see why not.” I lifted my hand out for Katara to grab which she accepted gratefully. “Well…scientifically speaking there is no way to prove that-” “Oh Sokka just hold hands” Katara cut off Sokka’s statement, holding out her hand for Sokka to grab. Only took a few seconds for Sokka to quickly reciprocate our actions.
Sokka and I peaked above the rocks to see Katara and Toph training Aang. However the training was cut short once Toph and Katara were attacking each other instead. “Hwaaah!! Sneak attack!” Sokka jumped up to run towards Aang. Unsurprisingly, Aang caught him even if he was blind folded. “Uh you two, aren't you guys supposed to be training Aang?” I ask in the midst of their fighting. Both Toph and Katara turn towards me and immediately stop attacking each other. “Very well pupil, I believe we had enough training for today” Katara said, walking away from the muddy mess Toph and her caused. “While Katara cleans up, let's go have some fun!” Toph said in determination, using her earth bending to get rid of the mud on her. “Yeah!!” Sokka and Aang said excitedly. “I pass, I'm going to go with Katara, you three have fun.”
҉ ☾
“Y/N I have been meaning to ask this for a while.” Katara spoke up midway after breaking the crab. “Yes?” I responded, waiting for her question. “When we were at Ba Sing Se…” I inhaled at the mere thought of Ba Sing Se, Katara heard but she still continued. “You did something to control my body when we were getting attacked by Azula and her friends.” Katara explained. “Do you think fire nation grabs would taste different than Water tribe crabs?” I asked, attempting to change the topic. “Y/N you know what im talking about.” I sighed deeply as I turned to her. “I blood bended Katara.” I said straightforwardly. “How?!” Katara moved closer to me. “I am not even sure how! It always happens when I'm in extreme danger.” I explained. “I am not a good water bender, I only had one trainer in Ba Sing Se but even then I'm still not experienced in water bending. When I get upset or scared even the clouds start to rain.” I continued on with my rant. “I can teach you!” Katara spoke up excitedly. “No Katara, focus on training Aang instead of me.” I laugh, brushing her off. “I wasn't even supposed to use water bending in the first place.” I muttered under my breath, having memories from the northern tribe.
“Y/N, where we live only men are allowed to use waterbending, that's their job…to protect” My father turns me to show the boys learning how to water bend. I look at my own hands in disappointment. “Especially people like you and your sister, you're both very important to this nation”.
I snap out of my thoughts to see Sokka, Aang and Toph running towards us with baskets of supplies. Where on earth did they get that stuff? Katara immediately read my mind and asked “Where did you guys get the money to buy all this stuff?” Aang takes a bite out of the apple, responding with his mouth already full from chewing the apple
“Toph got us money” he took a seat on top of the rocky texture of the ground to continue explaining “She scammed ones of those guys in town who moves shells around all sneaky-like”
Sokka interjected with his adlibs “She used earth bending to win the game, classic!”
However, Katara wasn't at all phased by what they’re saying, putting her hands on her hips “Ah, so she cheated” she states. Toph stopped midway her bite to defend herself “Hey, I only cheated because he was cheating”
I sweatdropped at their explanation “Aren't we already on the edge of getting caught? If you guys continue these scams we would have an additional problem.”
Toph rolled her eyes at my reasonability, I simply sigh as a response. Kids her age are horribly stubborn. “I'm just saying, this isn't something we should make a habit of doing,” Katara said.
“Why? Because it’s fun, and you hate fun?”
How is this considered fun? Maybe other nations find this entertaining, in the northern tribe this isn't at all seen as a hobby.
Aang stands up pulling his bandana a little back to show some visibility to his arrow on his forehead. “Katara, I’ll personally make you an avatar promise that we won’t make a habit of doing these scams” Aang bowed, showing his nation's promise.
That promise didn't last however, this led to some arguing, disagreeing and distancing from each other. What took a huge turn was when Toph apologized to Katara only for Katara wanting to participate in a scam. I shook my leg up and down waiting for Toph and Katara to finish their scam. I personally found their scams to be dangerous but if you're the one initiating the scam first you really shouldn't complain when someone gives you the same taste of your medicine. Usually these scams take a lot shorter than this, they really should be finished by now. Clearly we all felt the same with the time they were taking and decided to start looking for them.
҉ ☾
“This place is completely empty” I said, while looking around confused. It wasn't even that late, people still come out during this time. “Where do you think they might be?” Sokka asked as Aang hummed in response “Where do you think everyone is?” I felt shivers up my spine, already turning my body to look back, suddenly I got yanked by Aang, moving me to dodge the attack. The explosion caused the area around us to smoke, making me cover my mouth and muttering a small thanks under my breath. “It's a sparky-sparky boom man!” Aang popped up. Sokka followed, rubbing his head from the impact “You know, I'm starting to think that name doesn’t quite fit.”
“Then decide to change it later!” I huffed, popping up next to Sokka. Another bullet comes forward to hit us, instantly making us run away. I use my water bending, attempting to aim at his face before another bullet flies straight at me, making me miss, aiming ice at his feet instead. He was unable to move for a second before aiming at Aang, making him fly above, slamming his head against the statue. Sokka and I internally wince from the contact. Suddenly we hear footsteps behind us, we turn around to see Katara and Toph. “Oh thank the spirits you're safe!” I said joyously. “Where’s aang?” Katara asked worriedly.
Shortly Katara blows ice directly at the metal man’s head, making him unable to hit the beams from his forehead. We pick up quickly before running away to Appa. “Hey I got it! The perfect name for that guy, Combustion man.” Sokka said excitedly. Toph immediately brushed away his response by giving an encouraging response that feels somewhat out of character for her.

I'm trying to hard to shorten the amount of chapters in "When Sun and Moon meet" that don't contain Zuko cause I'm slowly realizing he only appeared in 7 chapters and only mentioned in 8. This is literally supposed to be a Zuko x reader 😭. The reason Zuko isn't mention much is because I didn't want "Y/N" to have her character heavily dependent on Zuko, I wanted her to have her own development. Due to me wanting "Y/N" to be an independent character who sticks with the Gaang I also have to consider from the readers standpoint of actually wanting "Y/N" and Zuko interactions. In the end I'm not even sure if I'm doing "Y/N" justice.
Due to this I have decided for the upcoming chapters I will combine important chapters together, so the settings might transition like its supposed to in different chapters. I have always cut out stuff that isn't really important to the plot of this specific "Y/N."
I'm going to continue updating the AO3 fic of this series, so AO3 enjoyers can read too.
I am completely open to suggestions for my fic, please share them and I hope you guys have an amazing day

҉ * ‧͙ ⋆ ⁺ ༓ ☾ Chapter 13 - First Steps in the Fire Nation
“I think I see a cave below.” Aang observed earning a hush by Sokka. “Be quiet!” Once we landed, our cloud disguise vanished into thin air. Sokka immediately hid by a rock, looking around the place suspiciously. “Great job with the cloud camo but next time let's disguise ourselves as the kind of cloud who knows how to keep its mouth shut.” He turns his head, eyeing the birds near the cave in a skeptical manner. “Yeah, we wouldn't want a bird to hear us chatting up there and turn us in.” Toph replied sarcastically. “Hey! We’re in enemy territory. Those are enemy birds.” Sokka pointed upwards, coincidentally, many birds were resting on that rock. One commedically moves down to land on Sokka’s head, screeching at us. We all laugh breathily, making our way towards the larger cave. Sokka, still having doubts, jumps over us to land face first and looks around the cave for any enemies. I glared at him confusingly, there weren't any traces of anyone staying here. “Well this is it, this is how we will be living till the invasion begins.” Sokka explains. “Hiding in cave, after cave, after cave…after cave…” Sokka gradually laced his tone with dread, putting his head down in exhaustion. “Sokka we don't need to become cave people, what we need is some new clothes.” Katara explained. “Yeah, blending in is better than hiding out. If we get fire nation disguises, we would be just as safe as we would be hiding in a cave.” Aang adds on. “Plus, they have real food out there, does anyone wanna sit in the dirt and eat cave hoppers?” Toph leans back against a rock, throwing her fist back against the cave which unleashed a few cave hoppers. “Looks like we got voted out of the sport.” Sokka looks at Momo munching on the insect, displeased with the idea of eating cave hoppers. “Let's get some new clothes.” Sokka said. “Now where would we even get new clothes? We can't go to the fire nation for new clothes.” I spoke up, leaving the group to think. “I have an idea.” Katara announced.
҉ ☾
Us 5 pops out of a small hill of magma, looking at someone's clothes hanging on a wire, clearly out for drying. “I don't know about this…” Aang said uneasily. “These clothes belong to somebody.” “I call the silk robe!” Katara immediately leaps forwards, out of our hiding spot. Determined to get the robe. “I call the cloak.” I happily said, following right behind Katara. Everyone got out of our hiding spot and started running around to find something we liked in the racks of drying clothes. I gathered all the clothes that I wanted, mainly ones that can cover my hair since that would be a dead give away.
I move the cloak against my head, moving it a little to fully cover my hair. “Is this covering my hair?” I ask worriedly, hesitating if I should adjust it again. The cloak I was wearing was see-through until the hood, which was a gradient to a deeper shade of red. Still see-through enough to see the silhouette of the hair, hopefully not the color. “Woaahh it's like your hair is naturally black.” Toph says. “Oh thank the spirits- oh…” I look back at Toph who smiled mischievously and shrugged. I groaned and waited for Katara to finish getting ready. “How do I look?” Katara announced which made us turn to face her. “You look so pretty!” I was complimented. “You too Y/N, oh and the hood covers your hair!” Katara said, walking towards me to adjust my hood a little. “That's good!” I breathily laugh. “Uhh Katara, your moms necklace.” Aang said worriedly. Katara touched her necklace, “oh…oh yeah…” she said sadly and took it off. “Guess it's pretty obvious that I'm from the water tribe, isn't it?” She takes a last look at her necklace and stores it away.
҉ ☾
I buy a sash to wrap it around my waist, which if needed could be used to cover my hair. Just in case I lose this cloak. I wait for the others to finish putting on their accessories that they also just bought. “I used to visit my friend Kuzan here a hundred years ago, so everyone just follow my lead and stay cool. Or as they say in the fire nation, stay flamin!” Aang winked and moved joyfully around. I look at Aang, somewhat confused but shrug as we all follow him. “Greetings my good hotmen!” Aang greeted a fellow fire nation member, who was equally as confused as the rest of us. “Hi…I guess…?” He replied, but moving his attention back to what he was eating. Searching where we could eat, we took a stop at a meatplace, which unsurprisingly only serves dishes with meat. “Oh… we’re going to a meat place…?” Aang said disappointedly. “Come on Aang, everyone here eats meat, even the meat.” Sokka pointed at a Hippo Cow who chowed down on the meat in front of him. Aang grimaced at the animal. “You guys go ahead, I'll just get some lettuce out of the garbage.” We waved off to Aang, silently hoping he manages to get food that's vegetarian friendly and go inside the restaurant.
“I hope Aang is okay, I feel bad that he cant find food that easily here.” Katara said, poking at her dumplings. “Aang will be fine!” Sokka said, clearly not really caring as he chomps down on his chicken skewers. Katara looks at her brother, clearly annoyed. “But still, he’s alone and…” “You talk about Aang a lot.” I tell Katara, slurping on my Noodle Soup. Closest thing to Seafood, as that's in the Noodle Soup. Katara turns a little red, clearly blushing as I giggle teasingly. “Yeah Twinkle Toes will be fine, what's the worst that can happen?” Toph said.
҉ ☾
“Where is Aang?” Katara said, looking around frantically. “Relax, he must be at the cave already.” Sokka said, leaning back. “Hopefully he found some food.” I said, tiredly moving towards the direction of our cave. “What if he isn't there?” Katara said. “He must be, where else would he even go?”
҉ ☾
“Aang isn't here.” Katara said, which leads the three of us to widen our eyes in disbelief. “He’s the Avatar, he will be okay.” Sokka tries to shrug it off, already crashing on the floor to lay down. “What if he got caught?” Katara says, holding her head in her hands. “I'm sure Twinkle toes can handle it.” Toph picks her nose to lie down next to Sokka. I picked up some sticks and rocks to light up a fire. “It's okay Katara.” I light the fire and go to sit next to Katara. “He can handle himself, it's not like he’s a baby.” I patted her back which made her shoulders go down in relaxation. “I'm sure you're right…”
҉ ☾
When the sun was slowly setting down, the more we all became anxious on the whereabouts of Aang. Just as I was about to start looking for Aang, he jumped down and appeared right in front of the cave. “Where have you been?” Katara asked in concern. “We’ve been worried sick!”
“I got invited to play with some kids after school.” Aang casually said, taking off his headband. His whole outfit was a complete mess along with his headband. This made Sokka stand up straight from his lying position. “After what?!” He yelled out loud. “I enrolled in a fire nation school and I'm going back tomorrow.” Aang states proudly. “Enrolled in what?!” Sokka says in complete shock and passes out back on the floor. The rest of us three looked at him with our eyes widened and mouths agape in shock.
“Aang I'm trying to be mature and not immediately shoot down your idea but it sounds…really terrible.” Sokka explains. “Yeah we got our outfits, what do you need to go to school for?” Toph asked with her usual attitude. “Every minute I'm in that classroom, I'm learning new things about the fire nation. I already have a picture of fire lord Ozai.” He pulls out a picture of the fire lord, excitedly. “And here's one that I made out of noodles!” Aang continued as he pulled out another picture, which was just as he said. Fire lord Ozai portrait made out of noodles. “Impressive I admit but I still think it's too dangerous.” Sokka said. “I guess we will never find out about the secret river then… it goes right towards the fire lord's palace, we were supposed to learn about it in class tomorrow…” Aang really knew Sokka's weakness, persuading him with information about the fire lord. Most of us would prefer Aang’s safety but not Sokka with his plan. “I am a fan of secret rivers…” Sokka pondered around, thinking of his answer. “Fine let's stay a few more days.” Sokka agreed which made Aang jump in glee. “Flameo hotman!” Aang cheered, running around happily. “Flam…eo…?” Sokka asked, weirded out by Aang's choice of words. Katara shrugged. “Now what if Aang gets caught being the Avatar, which everyone thinks is dead by the way.” I ask. Sokka shrugged at me as I gave him a deadpan expression.
The next day, we got news that Aang got himself in trouble, in just two days. “Y/N, can you play the part of a mom for Aang?” Sokka asked, which confused me. “Mom…?”
“They need both parents available.” Sokka continued. I shook my head no. “Sorry Sokka but” I pointed to my hair comedically. “No can do! Ask Katara.” Sokka groaned in irritation “Why can't you just cover your hair?”
“It's already odd enough for me to cover my hair in the fire nation Sokka, I want to hide my identity as much as possible.” I explained, trying to get Sokka to reason with me. “It's fine Y/N, I'll do it.” Katara said, earning a grateful expression from me. “Whatever would I do without you Katara!”
҉ ☾
“That settles it! No more school for you young man.” Sokka yells at Aang, brushing his fake beard. That's the first time I have ever heard that sentence before. “I'm not ready to leave, I'm having fun for once.” Aang got up, kicking a stone while walking towards Appa. “Just being a normal kid, you don't know what it's like Sokka.” Aang disappointingly said. “You get to be normal all the time.”
“Hah hah.” Toph mocked Sokka from Aang’s unintentional mean comment. “Listen guys, those kids at school are the future of the fire nation, if you want to change this place for the better then we need to show them a little taste of freedom.” Aang explains his reasoning. “And how are we ever gonna do that? Give a motivational speech about how they have freedom?” I spoke up, leaning against the rock behind me. “Close! I'm gonna throw them a secret dance party.” Aang does a little dance which made all of us look at him, dumbfounded. “Go to your room!” Sokka yelled, pointing at the wall.
Just as Aang said about him hosting a dance party, we all decided to help him out, oddly enough. I use my water bending to add ice decorations around the cave. I attempted to add fire symbols and crystal-like designs hanging from the ceiling of the cave.“This actually looks pretty, for a cave.” I put my hands on my waist, admiring my work. Hopefully it doesn't melt quickly from the heat. “You did a pretty good job. They hardly don't even look like ice anymore.” Katara complimented me, putting her hand on my shoulder. “I always see the guys do these types of decorating in my northern tribe, I'm happy I got to do it at least once.” I told Katara. “Then you should teach me.” We both giggled till we heard Toph’s announcement. “They’re coming! Everyone stop bending.” I immediately put my hands to my side to prevent me from bending. I look at the entryway seeing all these firenation children walk up in looks of worry. I sat with Katara and Toph on a table, listening to the music while drinking my drink. Watching Aang encourages the group of students to dance traditional fire nation dances with him. “Who knew twinkle toes can dance.” Toph chugged her drink and slammed it on the table. Really, who knew a boy like him would know so many traditional dances. Aang grabbed the hand of one girl and dragged her out to dance with me. I felt Katara getting irked by this, sitting up straighter to take a better look at the two. “Wow! They look pretty good together.” Sokka spoke up which earned a scoff from Katara’s part. “Eh, if that's what you like.” I silently giggled and whispered to Toph. “I think someone is getting jealous.” Which Toph snorts to. “I bet 4 pieces of silver bans if Aang comes up to Katara and- oh-” I look over to see Aang already reaching his hand out to Katara as she hesitantly accepts. I look at the crowd, seeing everyone dancing energetically. I was mainly looking for Aang and Katara however. “So Toph, my coins?” “You never finished your bet, therefore I dont have to owe you any.” I grumbled under my breath as soon as I heard her say that. “I hear the guards coming!” Toph yells, however it was already too late. The guards were in front of the cave by the time she said that. I look over to what they assume was Aang was actually a random fire nation boy wearing the same bandana as Aang. My eyes lit up in surprise as I usher Toph and Sokka to run. “They’re distracting the guards, this is our time to leave.” I whisper, running towards the back of the cave. I see Katara and Aang right behind me and once we all got away, Aang closed off the cave with his earth bending.
҉ ☾ All of us managed to get on Appa’s back safely. I exhaled deeply, leaning against the edge of the saddle. “We’re safe Sokka, you can take off the mustache now.” Katara reassured Sokka. He stubbornly shook his head. “Oh no I can't.” Sokka humorously said. “It's permanently glued onto my skin” He continued as he brushed the edge of his beard. “Even though it was a silly idea, your dance party changed them.” I complimented Aang. “Yeah dancey pants, I think you really did help those kids.” Toph added on. “You taught them to be free.” “I don't know, it was just a dance party. That's all.” “Well that was some dance party Aang.” Katara said, leaning in to kiss Aang on the cheek, leaving a tint of red against his cheeks. Toph and I exchanged eye contact in a shocking manner. “Flameo sir, Flam-e-o” Sokka slowly clapped in congratulations. Appa made a sound in encouragement as we continued to fly above with the clouds.

҉ * ‧͙ ⋆ ⁺ ༓ ☾ Chapter 12 - Ship Attack
“You don't look so good, '' Katara asks warrily on the fire nation ship we stole. I use both of my hands to pull my hood down “I left Aku behind…” I sigh. Katara pats my back and looks down “I'm sorry we couldn't find him” She said sadly. “No it's not your fault, it's Zuko’s” I grumble in irritation, gripping my cloak harder. “Well it was the whole fire nation, not just Zuko” Toph said behind me. I snapped my head towards her “So you're defending him!?” I argued. “I'm just saying he didn't do all of the mess” Toph answered, way too casually for my liking. As I was about to yell at Toph, Katara stopped me. “You seem to get more hot headed when we talk about…uh…prince Zuko” Katara mumbles the last part which made me glare at her. “Just! Don't mention his name” I lifted my hand up, stomping over to the edge of the boat. “But she was the only one that mentioned him…” Toph said, which earned a hush from Katara.
“Twinkle Toes! That's gotta be you!” Toph said excitedly which made me turn around to see Aang on the floor. I rushed over to Aang along with the others happily. “Aang! You're awake!” Katara said joyfully as Aang grumbled, rubbing his eyes while getting up. “Are you sure…? I feel like I'm dreaming.” Katara rushed over to hug him which caught him off guard. “Don't worry, you're definitely awake.” I giggled, patting his back. “Aang good to see you buddy” Sokka said, his voice somewhat muffled from the fire nation helmet. “Sokka…?” Aang’s voice was draining as he tumbled over, losing his balance. “Uh oh! Somebody catch him, he's gonna…!” Toph hurriedly said, Katara was already rushing towards Aang to catch him. “Fall…” Toph finished her sentence awkwardly. “He needs time to process the situation we are in” I sighed, moving forward to take a closer look at Aang. “Someone should get him a blanket” I lifted my head up to see who was willing to fetch a blanket for Aang. “On it!” One of Katara’s southern tribe members said, already walking to get one. I look at Katara, whose face is filled with worry while holding Aang against her. “I'm sure Aang will be fine, Katara.” I reassured her, making her nod. “Yeah…I know.”
The next day, Sokka sat Aang down as we all sat next to them, eating our breakfast. While Sokka was recapping everything Aang had missed, I looked down at my food, stirring the noodles clockwise. It was obvious that the food ingredients were from Ba Sing Se. I sigh at the memory, the food tasted nostalgic even though I had it not too long ago in Ba Sing Se. I remember the scenery and the smell of that restaurant that sold these, the flavor was sour with a tint of spice. I smiled fondly at that memory, admiring the moon in the cold night sky. Conversation flying by as Aku and I sat in front of the restaurant on the cold stoney floor. Across from the tea house…”Ugh”.
“Y/N is the food not good?” A Southern Tribe member asked me which made my eyes widened. “No no no no no!!” I repeated myself, shaking my hand and head at the same time. “You have been looking at the food quite displeased.” Another said which made me look down. Everyone's eyes looking at me in worry. “I'm just thinking about something…Sorry” I mumbled, quickly and quietly eating my food. Aang looks at Sokka and Katara, silently asking what happened to Y/N which they shrugged at. “Anywaayys the best part is, the eclipse isn't even our biggest advantage! We have a secret.” Sokka comedically whispered the last sentence, leaning forward. “You.” He finished, which made Aang confused. “Me?” Aang confirmed which Sokka nodded. “Yep! The whole world thinks you're dead. Isn't that great?!” Sokka lifted himself up along with his arms happily. I looked over to Aang, seeing him completely shocked, eyes widened with his mouth agape. He immediately got up to maneuver towards the edge of the ship, recollecting his thoughts about the situation he is in.
҉ ☾
“I don't think twinkle toes is taking this easy.” Toph said uneasily which I nodded in agreement. I watched Sokka attempting to convince Aang how him being “dead” would be beneficial but Aang couldn't see any positive attributes. I heard a familiar sound ring my ears, looking behind me towards the direction of the sound. It was a fire nation ship. Toph and I walked over to one of the hatches and hid ourselves from the opposing ship. Aang and the Southern tribe siblings joined us. “I hate not being able to do anything.” Aang whispered irritatedly. “Hopefully you won't need to.” Toph said, looking over to the other ship. I peek my eyes out from the hatch, attempting to hear what they were saying until. “They know!” Toph yelled out, jumping off from the hatch, immediately using her metal bending to destroy the ramp, making the captain and his two guards fall. Katara immediately rushed over to move the water in a waving motion, to separate the ships enough for us to quickly sail away. I rush over to the back of the ship, using my water bending to help the ship move across water quicker. I felt the ship move heavily, tipping over my balance. I look ahead of me in worry seeing cannonballs getting shot towards us. Another cannonball came towards our direction however countered by Toph's rock bending, sending dust all over the place. I cough as I cover my eyes from the impact, avoiding getting any dust in my eyes. I open my eyes and the next thing I know, my whole vision is covered by mist. I felt rain hitting my fast shortly after, it was faint till it started pouring. “Oh no…” I looked up realizing it was mainly my fault that it started raining. More rumbling of the ship made the rain stronger. The only good part is that the rain died down some of the fires on the ship from the cannonballs. “Things couldn't get much worse than this!” Sokka yelled out, only to be proven wrong when a serpent emerged from the ocean waves. The rain became harsher the more I became stressed and worried. I cannonball once again came in our direction, hitting the serpent, sending it in an outrage. I wince at the sound coming from the serpent, slithering over to the other ship caging it with its body. “Thank you universe.” Sokka said relieved. I watch the ship with the serpent getting farther away, the rain dying down in the process. “And what do you know, the rain stopped as well” Sokka spoke up again. I whistled “Yeah how convenient.”
“What do they have in store?” I turn to Sokka and Toph. “Food!” He said excitedly, already picking out stuff to buy. Currently waiting for Katara and Aang who were talking in the ship. Aang was heavily persistent on revealing that he is the avatar to the world which we were all against, for his safety. I stared at Sokka who was holding whatever he could get his hands on. “What…ingredients…?” I sighed. “Uhh food ingredients.” Sokka shrugged. My eyes twitched in irritation “Sokka you-” I turned to see Katara, who didn't look like she was in the best mood. “Where's Aang?” I ask, which made Toph and Sokka turn to face Katara. “Aang still doesn't feel too good,” Katara sighs disappointedly. We all look at each other clearly upset. “It's okay. maybe tomorrow he might join us” I attempted to lighten the mood. The trio nodded as we continued to get food for our dinner.
҉ ☾
I eat my food peacefully outside looking at the moon. It was the closest feeling to the northern tribe, my family, Yue. I didn't think I would get this homesick before, missing the food and company so quickly. I giggle to myself happily thinking how much relief they would have if the avatar defeats the fire lord. Once I came back, they promised to hold a memorable feast. I'm sure excited for that moment to happen. I finished my food, and turned on my heel to go to my room. I take one more look at the moon, it's unusually brighter than it was before, like it was casting a spotlight at something. I shrugged, it's probably nothing and walked over to my room.
I open my eyes, stretching my limbs against the mattress under me. I lifted my body up from the mattress, making my way towards the door, grabbing my fire nation cloak along with me. Reaching for the door while wrapping the cloak around me, a guest opened my door immediately. I stepped back in shock seeing it was Katara. “Oh Katara? What happened?” I asked worriedly, seeing her face even more saddened than yesterdays. “Aang ran away…I just told Sokka and Toph” She said sadly. I gasped but hugged Katara. “We will find him, don't worry.” I smiled which she nodded at. We all gathered on top of the ship, “When did he leave?” Sokka asked Katara. “He left last night, while most of us were sleeping,” Katara explained. We all huddled around the map, thinking where he would be at this moment. “Alright Katara, Toph and Y/n we are all going to go on Appa and search for Aang.” Sokka said, already hopping on Appa who was perfectly fine searching for him. No one had any complaints, silently getting on Appa.
“Have you guys found him?” Katara asks us, also looking around the ground. “Yeah I see him.” Toph said out loud. We looked at her deadpanned as she shrugged, laying on Appa. Momo all of a sudden jumped off of Appa, flying towards the volcano. “He must be there!” I pointed towards the volcano, Appa immediately flying at the direction I was pointing at. To our relief, Aang was there lying on the edge of the rocks. “You're okay!” Katara ran towards Aang in complete relief, embracing him once she reached him. Tears softly fell off her face as she hugged Aang a little closer, all of us embracing the two of them shortly after. “I have so much to do.” Aang softly said. “I know, but you'll have our help.” Katara encouraged Aang. “You didn't think you could get out of training just by coming to the fire nation, did you?” Toph joked, lightening the mood. “What about the invasion?” Aang asks, looking at Sokka. “We’ll join up with my dad and the invasion force on the day of the eclipse.” Sokka explained. I felt something poke me repeatedly. “What in the world is-” I grab it out of the water and lift it up to our visions. “Oh…” I said awkwardly, looking at Aang's glider completely destroyed. “It's your glider…” Aang reaches out to grab it. “That's okay…if someone saw it, it would give away my identity” Aang sighs. “It's better for now that no one knows I'm alive.” With that, Aang air bends up towards the point, near the volcano. Spinning the glider between his fingers and placing it down on the magma flooring. He turns back towards us, landing next to us. His glider, slowly burning down in the process…

҉ * ‧͙ ⋆ ⁺ ༓ ☾ Chapter 11 - Trust to Betrayal
“What are you doing here?” I hissed. “Aren't you part of the fire nation? Couldn't they make an exception even though you were banished?” I asked but no response. “Oh so you're just going to stay quiet huh? What happened to your snappy attitude when we last met?” I shouldn't be asking such questions, knowing I wouldn't get any response from him. “I genuinely thought you came to Ba Sing Se for a change until I saw the drill in the walls with the fire nation logo. I even gave the benefit of the doubt when you were looking at Appa’s missing poster.” I stopped for a moment of realization “That's why you’re here! Once Aang comes here you and your nation can easily catch him”. I sigh in irritation “You're so annoying you know that? I don't even understand why you want the avatar so bad to the point you almost got killed. If your father really does care he wouldn't have banished you. You're lucky that Aang was the one that wanted to save you from the snow storm, the rest of us wanted you dead!” I scoffed “But of course you don't care! You only want your ‘honor’” I mocked. “Then once you go back to the fire nation you will continue with the fire nation war schemes and stand right next to your father in his horrible plans”
“That's not my plan” Zuko finally speaks up. “Oh wow, so now you finally spoke up” I rolled my eyes. “Then what is your plan Zuko? All you fire nation people are about war and taking over everyone's happiness” “You don't know what you're talking about,” Zuko said out loud. “You said that many times to me before, but I feel like I know enough” I glared at him but sighed heavily. “But really what's the point of me trying to say anything to you.” I sat against the wall leaning my head back trying to keep my anger in check. “I wasn't the one who caused the drill in the walls of Ba Sing Se, it was Azula,” Zuko said. “Azula?” I asked, “My sister,” he answered. Ah, so the girl in the middle of the fake Kyoshi warriors was Azula. I rolled my eyes “So what? It's your sister, same tribe, same blood, same everything”
“That's not the case…” Zuko sighed as he continued “my sister and I always had different views of everything ever since we were younger. Which led to my banishment with a scar to remind me” He touched his scar. I furrowed my eyebrows in sadness and moved closer to Zuko. “Did your sister have the same mindset as your father by any chance?” I asked softly as he nodded. “Then did you possibly have the same mindset as your mother?” Stupid question indeed.
“My mother left years ago because of the fire nation” Zuko said which made me wince at my unnecessary comment. “Sorry…” I said awkwardly. “I'm sure you’ll find your mother” I put my hand on his shoulder in encouragement. “Thanks” He gratefully said. I took my hand off of his shoulder and thought about my own mother. “My mother died from the fire nation last year, however weirdly enough I can't remember the details even though it was so recent” I shrugged stiffly. “I actually had a dream about her when you…uh hit me to the point I passed out” This turned way more awkward than it should have. Zuko stiffened and croaked out a sorry but I shrugged it off. “She told me not to give up in my dream but I'm still not sure what that means to this day…maybe she knew my sister was going to sacrifice herself to the moon spirit and to tell me not to give up…she wanted me to keep my head up high.” I sway slightly, feeling quite sad that I lost two of my loved ones in such a short period of time. “I'm sorry” Zuko said in sympathy as I shook my head. “It's not your fault…that's actually why I came to Ba Sing Se, not only for me to start new but to get revenge at the guy who killed my sister.” I said, trying to sound more confident. “The person who killed your sister was sent to the spirit world by the Avatar” Zuko said which made my eyes widened. Oh…well that works too” I said slightly embarrassed. There was a moment of silence till I spoke up again. “Are you still planning on hunting down the Avatar…” I asked, silently praying his answer will be no. “This scar cursed me to chase the avatar forever…but lately I realized I'm free to determine my own destiny, even if I'll never be free from my mark.” Zuko turned around to face away from me. “What if you could be free from your mark?” I said which made him immediately turn around with his eyes widened. “What…?”
“In the Spirit Oasis, the water there is more enhanced which could heal your scar” I explained “When I was younger I was in major pain and no one knew my cure, so my parents took me to the spirit oasis for my moon spirit to heal me. Which is why my hair is white” I pointed to my hair. “I'm sure your scar could possibly be healed in the Spirit Oasis, I could take you there.” I leaned closer to his scar, he closed his eyes as I moved my thumb across his scar. Then I heard a crash from the other side, showing Aang, Katara and the Old man who owned the tea house. “Katara! Aang!” I said running towards them in a hug. They both hugged me back “Thank you for coming to save me” “Of course we would save you Y/N no need to thank us” Katara said as Aang nodded. “Yeah! You're our friend!” Aang added. I smiled softly “Yeah…friends” I turned around to see Zuko irritated once again. The once soft moment was replaced quite fast. “Go help your other friends” The old man said while consoling Zuko. We nodded and ran out. I was following Aang and Katara but I took one last glance at Zuko in worry.
“We gotta find Sokka and Toph,” Katara said as we were running. I heard an electrifying sound and immediately turned around. Aang blocked it with his earth bending while I used my water bending to turn into ice. I looked to see who the attacker was and it was Azula, of course. Katara moved her water bending to get a direct attack at Azula, a wave of smoke fills the atmosphere until she comes out again. Attempting to hit us with fire, the three of us used waterbending to shield ourselves. Azula landed on a tall rock which Aang was able to break down with his earth bending. Azula landed across from me, pointing her fingers like she was going to use lightning however she didn't know who to hit. Suddenly a blast of fire landed near Aang. From the corner of my eye, I saw Zuko who hesitated on who to hit. But it didn't take long for him to make his decision, shown by using his fire bending to aim at Aang. “Y/N Go up the waterfall and get Sokka and Toph,” Katara said, blocking Azula's attacks. I nodded instantly moving towards the waterfall, dodging Azula's attacks that were specifically made towards me. I lifted myself up with my bending, looking down at the scene feeling disappointed in myself. Looking at Zuko, I once again was a fool to trust him, again. It didn't take long till I was out of the cave.
҉ ☾
“Appa! Momo! ” I yelled after finding them both. I had no idea where I was once I managed to get out of the cave. Luckily, I found Appa and Momo together outside. I immediately got on Appa “Yip yip, we need to get to Toph and Sokka” I said which made Appa make a sound of agreement and he started flying. Once we got near the palace, I immediately saw Toph and Sokka with the King and his bear. “Sokka! Toph!” I yelled. “Y/N!” They both yelled back. I got down from the sky bison to get eye to eye level with the two. “Are you okay? Aang got a vision of Katara asking for help for you” Sokka said. “Yeah, it was hailing a lot around the palace” Toph included. “I'm fine but Katara and Aang aren't,” I said quickly. “They’re fighting Azula and Zuko right now” I was panicking, a lot. Last thing I want is one of them dead. “Do you know where they are?” Toph asked as I nodded. “Get on, everyone” I ushered the king and his bear to get on.
҉ ☾
Once we made it to the destination I got off the bison “You guys stay here, it’ll be dangerous to all come together” I said. “Then why did we all come here?” Sokka whined. “It's because Katara needed to make sure you all were safe, and it's not for long. I just have to use my waterbending to get down and to somehow get Aang and Katara up. You guys need to be here for all of us to escape” I explained as they both nodded. I made my way over towards the waterfall and took a deep breath before jumping in. Once I made it down, I saw a horrific scene. It was Katara, crying while holding Aang’s body. I immediately used a splash of water to border Katara and Aang, making sure no one touched them. Coincidentally a wave of fire was shown, the old man came out of nowhere, landing in front of Katara and Aang. “You’ve got to get out of here! I’ll hold them all as long as I can” he says to both of them, making Katara nod and carrying Aang to get out of here. “Katara!” I yelled out making her look at me in somewhat relief but I could tell she was on the verge of crying again. I pull her closer towards me and make a water platform beneath our feet, helping us up. Before we reached the top I made sure to glare at Zuko, and he saw me, glaring at him. “Just as I thought you wanted a new start” I said, making sure he heard before disappearing.
҉ ☾
All of us were able to get above from Ba Sing Se, it wasn't as happy or uplifting as it was before. Instead it was depressing and anxiety wrenching. We stared at Katara, pulling the spirit oasis water out of the bottle to heal Aang. Internally praying he will come back to life again. Once the spirit of water disappeared in Aang, Katara couldn't help but hug him even tighter, crying. I looked down in disappointment at how everything turned out and so did everyone around me. Till a glow of a familiar arrow and breath indicated he was in fact alive. Everyone smiled happily while Katara laid him down and hugged him even tighter. Thank the spirits. “The earth kingdom… has fallen” Said the earth king with his head down, in disappointment and guilt. I felt bad for him. Thinking just as he saved his kingdom, it broke down once again.
A few hours go by, the cold breeze hitting my face making my skin feel like ice. It feels nostalgic, it feels like my home…northern tribe. I looked at Katara, still holding Aang in her arms. I decided to speak up “I'm sorry Katara…” I said shakily. “What do you have to be sorry about? You saved me.” She whispered, looking towards me in worry. I shook my head “I knew about Zuko being in Ba Sing Se the whole time” I admitted. I felt everyone suck in a breath which made me internally wince. “I met him here and talked to him but I didn't do anything because…I-” My voice cracked “I thought he must have changed…if I weren't so naive then…I would have caused any of you guys trouble”. I looked down, ashamed of my actions. Katara’s hand meets mine “It's fine Y/N…I'm just happy all of us have made it out”. I look up to everyone nodding. I dropped my shoulders and continued to look across from me, the night cloudy sky…

“Oh…well that works too” I said slightly embarrassed.

With her life in the hands of her new fiancée, how will life change for the princess?
Pairing: Zuko x F!Reader
Trigger warnings: arranged marriage, feelings of fear, banishment, mentions of burns/abuse, frustration, violence, betrayal
Word Count: 870
Destined to be Yin and Yang
I own no rights to Avatar the Last Airbender or any of the characters/story.
Author’s Notes
The characters as all aged up so Zuko’s banishment happens when he’s 16
Keep in mind I am bringing a unique world with inspiration from ATLA in their characters, some of the events that happen, bending, etc. Not many things may align or occur with what happened in the show. It’s intended that way, so I hope you enjoy it regardless.
See Y/N’s inspiration here.
Zuko and I trained every day for the next week or so, but I found myself struggling to focus on fighting. Zuko had grown frustrated and told me to leave if I couldn’t focus, and that’s how I found myself one afternoon standing on the deck. I watched the endless horizon of the icy sea continue without much variation.
Something deep inside my being whispered to watch the horizon for something.
“Gets boring watching the horizon, right?” I turned to find Lieutenant Jee casually walking to stand next to me. “I don’t know why the Prince insists on this mission of finding the Avatar.” The lieutenant placed his hands on the railing as he spoke his next words bitterly. “Or why he insisted on dragging us all with him.”
“You shouldn’t speak about the Prince in such a manner.” My words were stern. “I understand you’re frustrated, but you truly have no idea how much the mission means to him.” I could feel his eyes staring at the side of my head before he let out a humorless laugh.
“I did not think you’d be the one to have a soft spot for the Prince,” Jee said and my cheeks felt hot at the accusation.
“I don’t have--” I opened my mouth to speak as a large bright beam of light lit the sky in the distance. The beam of light continued to light up the sky as Zuko came rushing over to the side of the boat. The blue light drew my attention like a moth to a flame as I was suddenly attempting to attack a stranger on a dock in a city up north. The world is void of light as I try to defend myself, but the stranger laughs as he sends a fireball my way. I collapse as the world went black as the fireball made contact with my body.
“The only settlement in that area is a small Water Tribe village in the Southern Pole territory.” When I came to, there was a damp cloth on my forehead and whispers of conversation in the room around me. “That’s where we need to go.”
“Where you think we’ll find the Avatar?” Another voice--Iroh’s--whispered.
“Yes.”
“Because of the light?” Iroh’s final question had Zuko go quiet for a moment.
“Do you think I am imagining things?” I recognized Zuko’s voice as he sounded hurt at Iroh’s statement, and Iroh sighed heavily.
“Sometimes, the light beams we see are nothing more than celestial glimmers in the cold winter sky.” I heard Iroh shift his weight in the chair beside me. “Sometimes, caring for those who care for us is the more important option.”
“I’m not worried about her, Uncle.” Zuko’s tone was harsh, and I let out a low groan I slowly opened my eyes to let them know I was awake. Zuko was standing over the desk in my room with a map sprawled out on the surface of it. Iroh sat beside me in the chair from my desk. A bucket of water sat beside Iroh with various rags neatly folded next to the bucket. “I’m sure that was the Avatar.”
“Take it easy, Y/N,” Iroh said as he shifted his attention to help me sit up in bed. “You gave us quite the scare.”
“Good. You’re awake.” Zuko’s voice was cold to me as he turned on his heel. “We will make haste for the Southern Water Tribe.” Without waiting for Iroh’s response, Zuko added. “Y/N, when we arrive, you need to stay on the ship. I don’t need any weaknesses when go to capture the Avatar.” With that, Zuko left the room and briskly walked away. I gave Iroh an encouraging smile and ushered him away as Zuko left.
“I’ll be okay.” Iroh gave me an apologetic smile as he left the room and closed the door behind him. A shaky breath left my lungs as I laid my head against the cool wall as I had to face reality once again.
It’s a coincidence that the beam of light was the same scenario as my dream. I ran a hand through my hair as I set the damp rag in the bucket by my bed. Something in my spirit was telling me that it wasn’t a coincidence that the beam happened as it did in my dream. I let this internal argument fill my head until I felt the familiar sensation of the anchor dropping.
Sneaking behind one of the crates on deck, I watched from a distance as the crew was lined up before Zuko. The Fire Prince slowly paced back and forth as he spoke to them in an authoritative tone.
“Our mission is to find the Avatar is vital to the future of the Fire Nation.” He stalked back down the line as he continued. “We will prove ourselves worthy to see our homes and our families again, or we will die trying.” Zuko paused to look at Iroh before turning to put on his Fire Nation helmet. The crew all followed suit and marched off the ship behind Zuko. I felt a pang in my heart at Zuko’s speech, but watched as they all marched off the ship.

҉ * ‧͙ ⋆ ⁺ ༓ ☾ Chapter 10 - Fraud of the Warriors
Katara and I stood in the meeting room, in the middle introducing a big map of the world. The guards were explaining the plan in two months, confirming it with Katara and I. The seriousness broke when Momo stood on the map, knocking over the pieces which resemble the fire nation and earth kingdom. “Or we can send in Momo to do some damage” Katara jokes, laughing “Cause the…sorry” She said guilty. I nudged her softly “I thought it was funny” I whispered making her smile. The general lifts up the pieces and continues on with his plan. “All we need is the Earth King's seal to execute the plan” he tosses the scroll on the slab, earth bending it to our direction. “We’ll get these scrolls to him right away” Katara grabbed the scroll as we both got up. We both said our thanks and turned to go the opposite direction towards the king. Katara must have realized how much I have looked around in Ba Sing Se. “You have been quite cautious here” Katara sweatdropped. I sighed breathily, “They took Aku away, I have no idea where he is” I said sadly. Katara pats my back “I'm sure we’ll find Aku, what does he look like?” She questions. “It's a Buffalo Yak, he is the reason I made it here in Ba Sing Se without a boat”
“We’ll be sure to find him” Katara reassures me as I smile “Thank you.”
“What do you say Y/N? Cup of tea before we give this scroll to the king” Katara asked. “Are you sure we have time for that?” I warily said, gripping the edge of my hood to make sure it doesn't fall off and expose my cover. Katara brushed it off laughing. “It's just a cup of tea, then we’ll give this scroll to the king in no time” She grabbed my hand towards the tea shop, Momo cheering along. I laughed “Okay okay, just one cup of tea” I warned teasingly. I looked at the building in confusion “I swear I have never seen this tea house before” I looked around curiously “and it has a ton of people”. “That must be a good sign,” Katara said happily, which made me smile, moments like these really make me think she is Yue. We both walk in the building, two ladies bowing at us in greeting. “Table for three please” I said politely. Right as we’re about to walk to our table I heard a familiar voice. I lifted my head up to see Zuko, wearing the uniform and holding a tray. Ah…I guess they now own a tea shop. Katara grabbed my wrist. I looked at her confused till I realized how bad terms she had with Zuko. She dragged me out of the tea house in fear as I tried to catch up to her running. “Katara wai-” “We have to tell the king this” Katara said freaking out
“Hold on!” I pull her back “He can't hurt us, the guards will take him in. I me-” “We still need to tell the king!” She once again dragged me to the palace before I explained how I met him here. I sweatdropped but continued to follow Katara.
҉ ☾
We made it to the palace, in front of the throne which we ran to. “Thank goodness you're here Suki, Something terrible is going on” Katara said stopping in her tracks. I looked at the Kyoshi Warriors in suspicion, something is going on. “The fire nation has infiltrated the city, I just saw Prince Zuko and his uncle! We have to tell the earth king right away”
“Wait Katara…I don't have a good feeling about this” I whispered to her. “Oh don't worry, I'll be sure to let him know”. Katara's face immediately morphed into fear. By my assumption, that is not Suki. Momo immediately flew away as a girl from the left cartwheeled towards us, hitting Katara's pressure point. Katara fell over with her water pooling beside her, the girl attempted to get mine but I dodged quickly. I learnt from Yagoda where each pressure point is and the system of the human body. Since I wasn't allowed to use my waterbend for attacking I had to benefit from it by healing. She attempted again but I dodged all her attacks, pushing her back with my water bending. However, one girl who used blades and darts threw some at me, I dodged a few but more blades sent me back to the nearest pole, making my hood come off. I attempted to pull it out of my clothing and the pole but to no avail. “Didn't think the princess of the northern tribe would be here, surprises after surprises” The main girl said. “So Zuzu is in the city too? I think it's time for a family reunion” They hover over katara. Family reunion? Makes sense that this psycho is related to Zuko. I panic once they move closer to Katara, seeing the fear in her eyes. I can't lose another one close to me. I closed my eyes trying to think of ways to free Katara. The sheer panic of trying to use my bending made me do something…else. “What's going on?” One girl called out which made me open my eyes. I lifted my hands slightly which made them move. My eyes widened…blood bending. I harshly move my hands to the left making them hit the wall and wince. “Katara leave” I yell, managing to lift her up with blood bending and moving her out the door. “Y/N! What about you?” She yelled in worry “I’ll figure it out!”. Katara managed to escape, holding her shoulder in discomfort. I made sure she left and turned to face the trio. “I guess we have a blood bender” the middle one smiled devilishly. I gulped in worry and felt chains on my wrist, preventing me from bending at all. “Hey!” I spat attempting to maneuver my way out of these chains but there was no use. The 2 girls moved me to an empty room. I attempted to move my leg to break the chains however the chains were too high up for me to break. I scream in irritation, how come I am never strong enough?
It's been hours till the door opened up, showing the earth kingdom guards. I was excited, thinking I was going to be saved however that was short lived by their faces. They were not here to save me… “Oh what do you want” I said annoyed. I got no response but them grabbing my wrists and moving me “Now why do you need to mo- Woah!” The guards pushed me down a cave. I felt the impact of the stony floor and winced, lifting myself up. “What's your problem?!” I yelled but my voice just echoed through the walls. I huff in annoyance and walk around thinking what I can do in this situation. While continuing to walk around, I saw a light. I lifted my head towards the light and saw the guards again, however there was an additional person which was now thrown in. I looked down to take a better look at the person, once he lifted his head up I realized who he was. “Zuko…” I glared at him and he confusedly glared up at me. What in the world is happening?
