This is a reminder that you are as valuable as the people you admire. What you have to share may not be the most popular but it is valid, still. . You may be unheard of, but do not doubt the far-reaching consequences of keeping to yourself what was gifted you for the sake of others. It's such a terrible place to be in. . Do not buy the lie that what you have to offer doesn't matter as much. In admiring other people's gardens, understand that theirs wasn't always as rosy. So tend your own garden for possibilities abound therein.☺️ . Just because no one's singing your praises yet, doesn't mean you don't matter. You do. You really do. With time, others would see it. But for now, see it for yourself and appreciate yourself in your rehearsal theatre. Clap for yourself. Give yourself an award. Smile in front of the mirror and give your speech.😎 . If you've been following my journey, I once hinted on what we may refer to as the indexes of greatness. And frankly speaking, I did get thought-provoking submissions from a good number of you. . Thanks to all of you who engaged in that conversation. It was lovely reading on the same subject from different perspectives.🙂 . In talking about greatness, it's possible to start imagining ourselves on several platforms, traveling round the globe and impacting lives. . ☺️Would you hold on a sec, please? . So I watched a YouTube video the other day and Denzel Washington whose one of my favorite Actors was speaking to graduates. . - Towards the end of His speech, He quoted Les Brown, who once illustrated how scary it'd be for us to have ghosts surround us when we're old and on our death beds. - According to Him, these ghosts represent the ideas we had in our lifetime but never executed. . Can we just imagine these ghosts coming around with faces frowning at us for not putting flesh on them? . These ghosts would represent songs unsung, stories unwritten, art unrevealed, technology unemployed, etc. . Let's not just erect structures in the air. It's true that the most beautiful castles are in the minds of men but until they're made manifest, ain't nobody gonna appreciate. . The pyramids of Egypt being a wonder of the world are only so because folks stopped dreaming about them and started building. - So what have you started building? And if there's no building yet, then what have you started sketching? - It may readily sound cliche but if you're not flying already, you can at least, jump, walk, or just crawl. - For every idea and at every stage, we can choose to just make our moves. So we need not cower in fear. We can learn from the famous story of David and Goliath to not be intimidated by the appearance of well-decorated soldiers in front and around us. - Yes! These may be people we look up to but just because they fight with swords and shields doesn't make our weapon of war invalid. - Ours is still valid. In fact, ours is the secret weapon, only overlooked! So while everyone else has us, even our weapon overlooked, let's not join the parade of unbelief. - All we need is passion, determination and the courage to face our challenges head-on. . We must know that those with spears and shields have fears too, even more than we do. Even though they look so decorated, it could just be a front they're putting on. - So why feel inferior because you aren't in an armour just like them? Should "sophistication" be the basis on which others call us soldiers? Well it doesnt matter what people call us as long as we can get the job done. So the question is this - Can you get the job done? Others may not think so but don't be in doubt that those victories of yours in secret are as valid as the wars won on the battlefield. - We might be soldiers in the wilderness yet unheard of but we mustn't doubt the far reaching consequences of our decisions. . They do matter. Just because no one's singing our praise yet doesn't mean we don't matter. We do. We really do. With time, others would see it. But for now, let's see it and appreciate ourselves in the rehearsal theatre. Clap for yourself. Give yourself that award. Smile in front of the mirror and give your speech. - And when rehearsal is over, when we've stayed countless nights fighting battles for the sheep, learning how to protect stuff that's not even our own, others would be thrilled that soldiers like us could slay giants and lead a revolution. - This is what I've learnt from this lad. . . Admittedly, I've struggled with this for a larger part of my existence! - Not being able to stand up for what I believe is right because I'd look weird and eccentric. - Saying YES many of the times I meant to say NO because I never wanted to disappoint anyone. I was a full stack pleaser. - This one is really tricky: Feeling like I should not show too much of what I'm good at so people don't call me proud or a show stealer. I eventually covered this up by calling it humility. No. It was insecurity. - When my actions are based on what people would think or say about me, then I'm insecure. If I don't do things because I'm convinced but wait for people's approval, I'm insecure. - I should love and respect people but I should not run my life based on their opinions. . . . For a moment, let's picture when we were babies. We started out unsure of what steps to take and when to take those steps. Yet, we started.. ... Our steps were frail and uncalculated. Yet, we started. We were unsure of the best standing and walking postures to adopt. Yet, we started. We learnt how to walk by actually walking! ... We didn't have all the information in our heads. We did not have it all together and did not wait to. Yet, we took these steps...BABY STEPS. ... In our baby steps, we cared less about having people watch and laugh at us while we engaged the process. We just walked our way up anyways. ... But many of us are grown now and think this concept should be abandoned. We should think again. ... So I've been listening to @garyvee for a while now and I've been able to come to a conclusion that I'd rather think less and produce more than think more and produce less.
