Gideon, at the table: What did the cannibal get when he was late to dinner?

Hannibal, cutting up Gideon’s leg to serve to him: Time is but a wish of man’s making, a feeble attempt to control the chaos to which he finds himself the perpetual victim.

Gideon, unfazed: … the cold shoulder.

Hannibal: …

Gideon: Oh, come on. I deserve a pity laugh at least, considering I… don’t have much of a leg to stand on…

Hannibal: …

Hannibal: I’m suddenly beginning to crave a kebab

I’ve rewatched Hannibal over 10 times, and I will not be moved on this:

Hannibal and Jack are two sides of the same person. Jack isn’t bad at his job in the sense that he’s incompetent. He’s Hannibal of Hannibal had chosen a different position of power.

Jack sees Will breaking down and following a path of violence and encourages him. Exactly like Jack pushed Miriam just enough to find a killer while too unskilled to actually handle the situation. He entertains Will’s plans when he clearly has ulterior motive. He pushes Alana out of situations where she would have been a voice of reason. And he doesn’t TRULY show remorse for any of it. Only when it inconveniences him does he have any sort of reaction.

And it’s all for the same reason Hannibal did it.

He wanted to see what would happen.

I have this headcanon of a possible first episode of Hannibal Season 4:

After The Fall, Hannibal and Will end up in a cabin in Scotland (it’s a cliffside cabin to parallel the safe house). As usual, Hannibal is almost completely unharmed, and Will has suffered hypothermia that has driven him to near death. He fades in and out of consciousness throughout the episode, coming to as Hannibal nurses him back to health.

At some point, Will makes a jab at what must be in the stew Hannibal makes him. Hannibal responds with, “Do you consider yourself above the creatures of this earth, Dear Will? The wolf would tear its brother to pieces without remorse before starving, the rabbit would devour its own young in a haze of confusion. Predator or prey, life will always be the victor.” And Will would ask “Dr. Lecter, am I a grasshopper? Whose life are you trying to preserve?” Before shivering into sleep.

Throughout the episode, Will is getting better without acting like it. He keeps trying to make Hannibal think he’s weak. The final part of the episode happens when Will decides to act.

He stashes a knife when Hannibal is gone, and acts like he’s asleep. Hannibal comes back and when he turns to lock the door, Will comes at him with the knife. Hannibal grabs Will’s wrist just as it’s centimeters from his neck (cue soft familiar instrumental music).

Will says, “I am not your pet anymore, Hannibal. You can’t keep me trapped in your little golden cage.”

Hannibal pulls Will’s hand closer to his neck so the knife is on it and says, “Darling Will, the door has never been locked for you. When you lie in my bed, it is by your own doing.”

And it’s a parallel of the Season 2 finale, but instead of stabbing him, Will kisses him, and the lyrics of the song start to play, and it’s the chorus of Take Me to Church.

The scene of them kissing is interspersed with Alana and Margot at the bottom of the cliff, because Alana won’t rest until she sees Hannibal’s body. They’re looking as it hits “No masters or kings when the ritual begins” and it switches back to Hannibal and Will on “there is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin” and when it gets to “in the madness and toil of that said earthly scene” it’s Margot running when she hears Alana shrieking her name “only then I am human, only then I am clean”/ the brief instrumental break cuts to Will and Hannibal’s cabin, with them cradling each other’s faces, but they’re both the antler humanoid versions of themselves.

When it gets to the “Amen” repetition, it cuts to the cliffside where there are tons of police cars / FBI personnel, and the music starts to fade out and the sirens are ringing. Jack comes up to Margot and Alana who are holding each other and in front of them is two human hearts bound together by black rose stems that connect two human skeletons cradling each other.

“They’re alive, Jack.” Is the last thing Alana says in a shaky voice.

The chorus of Take Me to Church kicks back in, and the camera pans up the cliff rather than down it and the episode ends.

Spiritually, I think Hannibal would want to do the boyfriend orange test on Will.

Realistically, I think he knows Will would peel the orange in the most absolutely horrific way possible to both piss Hannibal off and make it clear that he loves him, and as a chef, Hannibal simply Would Not Survive Watching That

Is NBC’s Hannibal a poignant drama that calls into question the nuances of morality, the violence of the human desire to love and be loved, and the darker side of adoration

Is it three gays in a trench coat causing as much drama as they possibly can

If I had a nickel for every time I saw a gay crime drama with an FBI agent and a killer who are Definitely About To Bang, but instead of finally Resolving The Tension when they’re holding each other like they’re going to kiss, one person stabs the other in a shockingly non fatal way because they can’t Deal With Their Emotions Properly during a season finale…

I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

It seems there are 4 truths the Hannibal fandom can agree on:

1. Jack Crawford is terrible at his job (and is just terrible in general)

2. Will is a sweaty little man with a helluva face card

3. The FBI is both aware of the shit Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter are pulling and have unanimously decided it’s better for everyone to let the murder husbands be together. It’s not that they’re oblivious. They’re just tired of the gay murder simps and want to make them somebody else’s problem.

4. Hannibal is a simp but make it

the absolute funniest plot of nbc hannibal is the fact that the fbi is looking for a serial killer that is highly skilled in evading the police and has been killing for decades in multiple countries, and then they hired a guy who showed up to work like this every day to catch him.
