What is your impression of the new Fantastic Four movie? Even if it's just the trailers

gonna start by saying i talk about the trailers a LOT here so here is your one and only spoiler warning!!!!

(quick disclaimer, i just woke up so this is gonna be all over the place but i hope it still makes sense)

i'm honestly super excited! from what i can tell the film wont be an origin story, which is really refreshing.

i absolutely LOVE the color pallet of the whole thing. like it's just so appealing to look at and i love that they chose colors that made the suits pop even more instead of making them navy or black suits like fantastic four movies have in the past.

not only have they found colors that fit the time of the film but also colors that work well with each other. (can you tell im a film major lol)

im so happy to see herbie because he is such a cutie :( (speaking of tech - oh my god and the car?? it looks great??)

everyones powers look wonderful, the music in the trailers has sounded great, im just so excited. im REALLY hoping this lives up to the hype.

im also super excited that franklin is going to be in the movie, especially with what this could mean for the future foundation later in the the mcu??

(for example, right now spider-man is super lost with everything that happened in and after endgame so it could be nice to see him find a family within the fantastic four)

ok now that ive said the nice stuff and the stuff im really happy about, here are the few things i am a bit worried about (although to be fair most of these are minor and just me nitpicking so take them with a grain of salt)

bens accent not being super strong is throwing me off 😭 - its not a huge huge deal for me but i feel like if you were to play me a clip of him talking and have me guess who he was playing in the movie before casting came out I wouldn't guess ben

the other thing that worried me was the very first trailer. at one point sue is talking about everyone and shes like "and johnny is well... johnny" (or something along those lines)

obviously that had me (very obviously a big fan of johnny storm) a little worried for the writing? i was a bit worried that they were gonna make him a bit of a one dimensional character like they have in the past :(

LUCKILY in a later trailer or teaser or whatever it was there is a clip of him talking to reed about the new suits where he is like "im sorry for making fun of you... to myself... alone" (or something like that) that restored my faith. another thing that gives me hope was his reactions to the pregnancy announcement

off the top of my head my main concern is mostly just the writing, given how great everything else looks!! i know you probably weren't expecting this long of a rant when you sent that ask but hopefully you got what you came for :)

oh my god ok im rewatching the show and

spideytorch phineas and ferb au where johnny is desperately trying to bust franklin and val for their various shenanigans but reed, sue, and ben are all like ???? they arent even doing anything??

herbie has a sub plot fighting whoever the doofenshmirtz stand in is (im sure ill think of something eventually)

peter is johnnys jeremy but instead of working at the corn dog stand he just works his newspaper photographer job

oh my god i love this so much the idea that peter was only mildly bothered until johnny came around and then he's desperately trying to push johnny away to at least have a chance at saving him

i love both endings so much bc you could make such a sad story with either option

bc either

johnny does in fact die and it's absolutely devastating for peter but that devastation is what breaks the curse (johnny still doesn't come back but now peter is faced with the reality that everyone who reminds him of johnny is safe around him and somehow thats worse than all the death)

OR

peter spends more and more time with johnny even tho he knows its only going to hurt him and then he's just so?? confused?? when johnny is fine and hes always kinda on edge even tho he's super happy

this concept called out to me like dunkin donuts to a new englander so i has to add on a couple of things 😭

not a single one of them will admit they are the avengers ("read the name tag, im blint carton...who is clint barton?", "iron...man? never heard of him, is he some kind of robot?", etc)

just straight up gaslighting to the point where people just accept that its never gonna get adressed

peter parker works there and has crazy plot armor so the audience knows he is spider-man but no matter how many people he straight up reveals his identity to, nobody believes him (including the avengers even tho THEY hired him)

avengers superstore au because i want to be able to call it (super)store but it's not a no powers au because can u imagine yelling at a cashier over a 50 cent discount and it's just like. captain america

the ff are a family of bounty hunters that have a pretty amicable relationship with most local sheriffs and are pretty well known in each town they visit

peter (or the spider, at least) is the most wanted outlaw in the west (especially by sheriff jameson). its weird bc everyone he runs into swears hes the most helpful guy they've ever met but law officials seem to unanimously agree that he needs to be locked up or taken out

anyways bc of their good relationship with the law, the ff are called in as a last resort to capture or kill the spider

johnny takes one look at peters wanted poster and goes "well i certainly want him"

(i played rdr2 for the first time this weekend and now i desperately need to see them as cowboys)
