♥♥♥♥This is the big surprise project I’ve been working on!♥♥♥♥
The Starfighter Visual Novel is going to be awesome— but I need your help to make it happen!
Check out the Kickstarter page here! There’s lots of rewards, new art, and a description of the important stuff: how the game will work, what it’ll be about, MY HOPES AND DREAMS, etc! (You can even play a little mini demo to give you an idea of what it will be like!) There is even a really sweet video Thisbe made with slick logo animation and you can hear my tiny wraith voice!
It’s going to be really rad and I’m so excited about this—!
LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN TOGETHER- visit the Kickstarter here!

We want to adapt one of our novels into a manga but we can only do that with help from other people. The Blood Nation is a story about vampires that don’t sparkle and suck more than blood. :P

I'm putting the finishing touches on Cinnamon right now. As of now, the physical inside file is done and is in review along with the cover file with the printer. I finished the first draft of the ebook and am waiting on feedback from that. The fact of the matter is that when moving the text between the page layout software and the ebook coding software, 99.9% transfers fine, but there's that.01% that inevitably messes up in the form of missing quotation marks or missplaced italics. So even after the final pdf file is done, we still need to go over it a couple more times.
We found that out recently, so if you have some of our older e-books, you may run into those problems. We're actually looking at re-releasing four or five of our oldest books both physically and in e-book format.
I freely admit that when I founded this company, I had no idea what I was doing. My background was in business management, not english so I could run a company finacially and make it all legal, but english was my worst subject. I've been kind of learning as I go and my goal is always to make each release better than the last; to be more creative with the presentation and the style of the book.
I'm kind of in love with this cover and I'm more than a little sad that we can't use this artist again. The art is by super amazing Tatiana Kirgetova. She unfortunately doubled her price when I asked about doing another cover after this one. And this being a business, I have to stick to a strict budget when producing these books.
I get why she did it, honestly. From what I gathered, she's not a super huge fan of doing yaoi art work and prefers doing stuff for her children's books and it's not like she's hurting for commissions because she's so talented so why not charge top dollar for something she is not as interested in doing and doesn't even really NEED to do? It's just business and I don't hold it against her.
I don't know, maybe if this book does super well, I can justify the expense because, let's be honest, it's a beautiful cover and as anyone who looks at our covers can tell you, I love beautiful covers.

So this is not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination. It's something that I thought up a couple of weeks ago and have been talking to some of the authors and staff about participating in. As of now, we have plans for at least four podcasts, each about a half hour in length going over topics such as fanfiction to original fiction, Character Creation, World Building, and Villians.
If you have any questions about writing, publishing, illustrating, any of our books, or for our authors; use the  #slpgquestion here, on facebook, or twitter.
I'd like to end each podcast by answering a few questions so submit your question and we may answer it!

So I would never post this on our site or on the SLPG facebook page because I generally don't like reacting publically to critisism. One thing my mother always told me is that no matter what the situation, always be classy. Leave the drama, negativity, and craziness to other people and let them face the consequenses of their actions.
That being said, this did actually bring up something very important to me that I don't think anyone who reads our books thinks about or is aware of. And that's probably the case because I don't post things like this. I was told that I should post it for everyone to read but until now, I didn't want to because it really messed up my mind and made me actually question if I should even be doing this or if I should give up and close up shop.
I finally decided that No, I'm not giving up. This person can tear me down all they want but that's their perogative and nothing I can do will change their mind. The only thing I can do is continue doing my best to make you guys, who actually support us happy by creating the best book possible. And yes, that takes a while. All of our books on Amazon have 4.5-5 stars for a reason. I refuse to release a book that I don't have 100% confidence in.
At any rate, someone decided to email us to let us know that they weren't happy with our work. I'm copying the email below along with my response. Everything that I say in my response is true and I am only posting this so that you guys can understand that even though it takes us a while to finish a book, it's not because we don't have passion for the project or that we're just being lazy. In all honesty, passion is the only reason these books even exist at all.
Original Email----------------
It says the book is with the author, author says on goodreads.com that it is
with the editorial staff.  The book has been promised release repeatedly since it was due out January 2012!  The book was suppose to be out a year and a half ago. I will never buy another book from slpg because you have done this too many times. Relaunch? Seriously? Horrible publishing company. Also, I would never read another D. Snake book, even if she is plugging for us to read snippets of Chimera, another book she supposedly has coming out? Right. I am done. A few months delay, O.K, but to come online every other month and say it's coming...it's almost here. Right....
  My Response-----------------------------
Dear *****,
I do apologize for you feeling this way. Unfortunately, SLPG is not a big enough company that any staff members are full time. Every single one of us, including the editors and the authors, has a full time job outside of the company. We do not release these books for a salary much less a profit, but rather for the pleasure of those who would like to read a well put together novel that would not exist without the volunteer efforts of all involved. It is disheartening to us to hear that even though we spend what time we can putting these things together that you would feel the need to belittle our efforts when we are sincerely trying our best. It saddens me that you will not be patronizing out business again, however that is your perogative and I can not say that I blame you if your reasoning is as you say. I do hope you find what you are looking for with someone else and I wish you well. Best Regards, Heather Kendall President, SL Publishing Group LLC.
---------------------
This is all I will ever say or post on the subject of why it takes so long for us to release a novel.

We got Cake on Kobo! And they're having a Sale. 30% off everything with the promo code JULY1930.
If you've never heard of Cake, it's the first book in a series of novels about Xavier, the last of the Blue Blood Vampires. Here is the Synopsis:
To be loved by a vampire...     I've been called many names in my day. Most of them weren't flattering but they were true. I was a right unholy bastard. Eighteen months ago, I was a fat, nasty, legally blind, computer programmer who decided to try his chubby hand at industrial espionage. I wasn't good at it. I caught the attention of a Vampire Assassin, Marcus.     He was just supposed to kill me; but he wanted me instead. I became his toy for a year. During which time he reshaped my body; fixed my vision and broke me psychologically into three pieces. On the anniversary of my kidnapping, he gave me the choice to become an equal or remain a toy. Little did we know that he would never be my equal.     It turns out that I was the last of the lost Blue Bloodline of the Royal House. A genetic hybrid hidden within the human race -- Xavier Von Drachenfeld, Lord Emperor of the Vampire Nation.     Then we start to find out why there are no Blue bloods left in the Vampire world.
Be sure to give this one a shot, expecially at 30% off!
