BIG DIFFERENCE between fiction and real life, people.
Sweet, perfect, healthy relationships from start to finish, wrapped in rainbows are not only boring to read, but soul crushingly devoid of creativity to write.
That doesn't mean I or others condone or want that type of relationship irl. Far from it.
Please list all the wonderful, unproblematic, 100% functional fictional relationships that are exciting, page-turning stories.
Go ahead and disregard centuries of great literature, that is read from generation to generation.
No one is forcing you to read anything.
However, do us a favour, and return to your lane of blinkerdom. Enjoy the stories you like instead of being an arrogant bigot to strangers who enjoy something you don't. Those people are not slinging insults or ridiculing you for the sugar-coated utopia fiction you seem to crave.
must a fictional relationship be “healthy” or “functional”? is it not enough to simply watch two made up people destroy each other, hand in unlovable hand???

House of Green & Black -- Petyr's Revenge
I haven’t listened to this in ages. Great Gaelic/Celtic song by Runrig/Paul Mounsey and I think it fits so well with Petyr being low-born and burning down the monarchy in my Regency Era fic. I imagine him finding out that Sansa has been taken and that she and his son could be dead...
Instructing his man-servant, before going to Joffrey to kill him,
“Kill them all. Even if she’s dead... Kill. Them. All.”
An Toll Dubh - The Black Tower/Dungeon
Behind the door there will be no sun.
Sitting at the table
There will be no food and no wine
Behind the door there will be no sun
There will be no food and no wine
In face of adversity we will rise from our slumber
In face of adversity we will rise from our slumber
The Gael is in his bed,
The Gael is slumbering
In face of adversity we will rise from our slumber
He came here from the south (England basically)
He came With a fast steed and a heavy key
He came here from England
With a fast steed and a heavy key
**chorus**
On the floor of this black dungeon there will be no sun
There will be no moon Dark will be the night as we sleep
On the dungeon floor there will be no sun
Dark will be the night as we sleep
In face of adversity we will rise from our slumber
In face of adversity we will rise from our slumber
The Gael is in his bed,
The Gael is slumbering
In face of adversity we will rise from our slumber!

If GRRM were to ever publish The Winds of Winter, I think the fandom would come alive again. The show got me into GOT and reading the books, but since S5-7 literally ruined the show for me and dishonored some of the best characters, I wouldn't be surprised if many fans slipped away or like me waiting for the rest of the books that will probably never be released.
George is too focused on HOTD and all his side projects. Sadly, I think the show ending IS the ending he had planned but all the backlash for how shitty it was might have thrown him to rewrite a lot or he just doesn't care anymore.
Is like anyone here alive ? I miss the fandom when they were much more active 🥹❤️still a creepyshipper

Petyr x Sansa canon potential
Seeing some talk about how PxS canon could have come about. I’m re-reading, my ‘canon’ version of “The Winds of Winter” :
AO3 - Awakenings -- PxS canon book/tv style fic
It really does make me angry about how much potential Petyr x Sansa had in canon to be this amazing dark horse duo that could have taken over the entire game. The showruiners screwed everything up by making Petyr do something he would never do -- put Sansa in severe danger and worse by giving her to the Boltons. The smartest character in the series WOULD NOT DO THIS with his ace in the hole.
Tumblr media
There was so much they could have done, including freeing the North, working with Jon eventually and then working against Dany and Cersei. Sansa would learn everything from Petyr on how to play the game and ultimately RULE.
Petyr, with all his faults, wanted a level playing field for low-borns like him. He was teaching Sansa this as well. Being his ‘bastard’ she began to really understand what privilege she had as a Stark. Abused by the Lannisters taught her that those rosy girlish dreams were bs and she needed to be her own knight in shining armour.
Does Petyr truly care for her? Yes, I believe he does. She’s part ‘what could have been’ because of Catelyn and now even better because Sansa is what Cat could never be and thats a drug to him. Turning Sansa (to his own detriment) into a female version of himself.
Sigh.
Yes, is it fucked up? Of course. But it would have been GREAT storytelling and even better in the end when Petyr eventually does die by her hand, it’s not like the show. Sansa actually cares for him, maybe even loves him but knows he has to die if she is going to rule. Watching that emotion in a scene would have been so amazing. It would be what the characters actually deserved instead of hack writing and a pointless plot that kills off the mastermind of the political game in the entire series.

This ship had SO many great possibilities for excellent storytelling. But the idiots dumb and dumber chose trash tv instead.
I am forever pressed at how the show had Sansa get a darker new look that just screamed power and had Petyr's full attention as she came down the stairs with that "Shall we go?" and then did nothing with a potential new power dynamic between them. That man was both proud and aroused and she knew it. Wasted opportunity. Could of had a toxic power couple otp.
like if i had to see sansa fall under the thrall of the man who conversely wants both the best & the worst for her: they already had that in petyr!! i didn't need a rehash of her time with joffrey or the theft of jeyne poole's story when they both could've run concurrently & had the whole thing being sansa trying to save her best friend while falling headfirst into petyr's manipulations due to the stress.
why am i denied my toxic pussy boss ships smh

Petyr never would have sent her to the North, let alone to the Boltons. The idiot showruiners (I refuse to call them writers) completely effed up their characterizations. Not only that but used rape as "female character development". ARGH!!!!
The best duo should have been this dark horse team of Petyr and Sansa, systematically effing up everyone's game until they win and Sansa finally kills off Petyr or makes him her bitch.
Sansa and Petyr playing the game up North and slowly retaking it out from under the Bolton's an Sansa embracing a darker side of herself under Petys's tutelage would have been hype if the writers weren't both incompetent and cowards. Sansa teaming with and learning from the same man who had a large hand in causing the downfall of her family but having nobody else to turn too all by his design.

Shit, I should really finish my "Winds of Winter" fic that touches on all of this. God. Knows GRRM will never write it, let alone finish the damn series.
There were always so many great avenues to take them in canon.
I would have loved to get a newly confident and empowered Sansa going through a bit of a villain phase under Petyr as she tries to reclaim her home and get some payback against those who betrayed her family while Petyr proudly watches her growth and his obsession grows while also doing his damnedest to make sure she never learns of his involvement in her families tragedy. We could have had it all.
we literally could've had it all: petyr's satisfaction that he's freed his little dove from the cage of other's making, seeing her thrive & grow but still come home to his own personal cage, almost making it seem natural.
deep down sansa knows something is off but she's in too deep, too enamoured with this life of kind touches, sweet words whispered in dark halls & in their bed late at night: she knows that she should look but it's so much easier to be in a cage of her own making than out in that open sky alone.

Just came over here to say I just spent an ungodly amount of time devouring all your P&S fics, and holy hell, Underworld and The House of Green & Black are insanely top tier! Honestly, all the extra kudos to you, both are easily in my top fics of all time.
Oh wow. Thank you. I'm very humbled. I'm shocked anyone still finds these stories, to be honest.
I really loved writing them. I appreciate it so much. I'm so flattered you thought they were good.

A few weeks ago I read your fic Underworld and I just want to tell you I adored every single chapter of it. I live your writing style. I usually dislike modern AU but yours made me change my mind it was just that good. All of the characters were a delight to read about and I can't wait to read more of your fics. ❤️
Oh, thank you! I know I say I'm humbled all the time but it's true.
PxS is strange because that dynamic can really fit in any time period, etc. It really does work. I used them in modern, with Underworld, Regency Era for House of Green and Black and the rest were more canon style to the show/books.
I've tried a few different styles but 3rd Person Limited POV works best for me. I like to be in the mind of the character and you learn when they do, so suspense works well. The character can be an unreliable narrator too. What they know necessarily isn't true.
Granted, I'm still learning. I can see progression from my first ever fic, Return to Winterfell to Green and Black. I'm not completely happy with any of them. I'm not usually a fan of 'happy endings' in stories. I'm sick in the head and love bittersweet or endings that leave you going...wtf? Or open endings.
And as most people who know me, know I'm long-winded as hell.
I hope you enjoy my other works. I really appreciate your compliment.

People have yet to learn what goes into writing a piece of original or fan fiction. To have some asshole feed our hard work into AI to either get an ending because they can't wait for the author to do it or they're using it to try and create NEW work?
Man, just how horrible are you?
I know a lot of authors are locking their works on AO3 now to help prevent AI from using it to gather info. Whether that works or not, who knows?
It's shit like that makes authors want to pull their works because someone might use it to create new stories without permission or technical plagiarism.
I was pissed when I found someone trying to pass off two of my stories on Wattpad as their own. They got pulled after I complained and showed proof I wrote them but those people are out there.
And you wonder why in the writer's strike they are ADAMANT about getting rid of all use of AI.
Hi,
It’s your friendly neighbor fanfic author here. In the light of this apparent new trend of people feeding unfinished fics to AI to get an “ending,” and some people even talking about “blanket permissions,” let me just say this:
I EXPLICITLY FORBID ANYONE TO FEED MY FICS TO AI. DUDE, THAT IS ABOUT THE LEAST RESPECTFUL THING YOU CAN DO. IF YOU DO IT, SHALL YOU BE EXCOMMUNICATED FROM YOUR FANDOM AND WALK ON LEGOS BAREFOOT TILL THE END OF DAYS.
That is my anti-permission.
Thank you for your attention.

Hi.
I just read House of Green and Black and holy shit, this is so good. It took me a couple days to bust through it but damn. I'm in love! It's everything that I love in a story. Dark gothic vibes, dark and complicated romance, the hero is not your typical beefy gorgeous male character. I think this is why I like Petyr Baelish so much cuz he can be so much more and you've taken that to the moon and back. I love how you write him and keep him complicated.
Sansa. My poor baby. She's been through hell and it isn't over. The kids.
I'm thinking of all these dreams she's having and wonder how they play out. It seems like she's seeing the future or maybe I'm reading it all wrong. I like how you keep to specific pov's so you see everything play out in their pov even though you know other shit is going on. Really great way to build suspense. Just because Sansa doesn't know, then you see what Petyr is up to and vice versa. It's a really cool switch where he's in control early on and now he's the one wondering wtf happened.
Bruh, I really hope you finish this. I think I might have an idea of where it's going. There's a lot of real world vs fantasy and what is real or if the characters know what's real or if maybe they're going crazy and you don't know which one is losing it?
Of if the fairies, kinda like the fates are in control or know this is what has to happen. I really want a happy ending but I honestly don't care at this point. If I have to cry my eyes out, I will do so and still be happy.
This should be published. It's that effing good. You are an amazing writer and I'm a firm believer that there are better stories and writers doing fan fiction that shit I've paid money for in the bookstore.
I don't even care it's Game of Thrones based. This plot is excellent all by itself. It's rare that I feel like I'm completely immersed in a character and story where I can't stop reading.
I really hope you consider finishing this story. It's honestly one of the best pieces of gothic fantasy fiction I've read in years. This would make a killer movie.
Oh wow. I don't know what to say but a humble thank you for that.
Ironically, I'm actually debating whether I should finish this story as it is (fanfiction) or completely re-write for an original novel. I have the most awesome person on the planet willing to help me and I better make a decision soon.
You're on the right track but I won't say on which points you've made. It would spoil the entire ending.
I spent a lot of time with foreshadowing, leaving red herrings (which come into play in ways the reader might not expect). There is quite a bit on my playing with Irish folklore but keeping it vague enough to work with my plot.
Sansa has questioned her sanity already and gone through the ringer and now in a way, it's Petyr's turn. You're right. He is usually in control and to have that taken away from him, rather eats him alive.
There is emphasis on fate and choices as a theme to the very end.
There are actually a LOT of hints along the way that will make complete sense at the end when the reader and two character finally figure things out. I hope I've laid enough down that when a big reveal comes it shocks everyone. There is quite a twist near the end that I don't think anyone knows, except my sweet, loving beta editor.
She has been cursed with all my crazy ass notes and outlining. But it's different than actually READING it play out.
It's weird because when I write, I see a movie play out. I want to see, feel, touch, smell everything. I like using the 3rd Person Limited POV. The character can be an unreliable narrator and the reader only finds out when the character does. The only way this plot works is to use both Sansa and Petyr's POV due to the complexity of the story.
I don't like 3rd Person Omniscient because it rather ruins the suspense with that 'all knowing' narrator. I really wanted the reader to feel like they're in the story.
I really need to get off my ass and finish it. I think by then if anyone thinks it's worth publishing, I'll go through and change the necessary things to make it wholly original (character names, places, etc). I've actually loosely based this on GOT, meaning I used a few characters to use their traits and relationships more than a true fanfiction that resembles canon.
I suppose if readers want that, I have plenty of stories that are more canon related. I guess my modern PxS fic is super loose on the GOT stuff too but oh well.
Lord, I'm sorry. I can go on forever.
I really appreciate that you binged that monster and it didn't bore you.
Again, I'm very humbled by your kind words.
