"Isn’t it awfully convenient,” Harry added, “that when men make the rules, the one thing that’s looked down on the most is the one thing that would bear them the greatest threat? Imagine if every single woman on the planet wanted something in exchange when she gave up her body. You’d all be ruling the place. An armed populace. Only men like me would stand a chance against you. And that’s the last thing those assholes want, a world run by people like you and me."

No cause he captured my heart immediately
i have been reading since i was 5 years old, and have always loved literature. but i have never fallen in love with a character so much as Harry Cameron from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
he is one of the most wonderful characters that has ever been portrayed to me in a book, and his relationship with Evelyn throughout the book is one of the most pure and unconditional forms of love i have ever seen. it was beautifully represented and truly shows how love can be presented in so many different and messy forms, and i would be lying if i said i wasn’t completely enamoured by that.

Crushed my heart and now I'm dead to like wtf
“I put my forehead to his and said, "I want you to stay, Harry. We need you. Me and Connor." I grabbed his hand tighter. "But if you have to go, then go. Go if it hurts. Go if it's time. Just go knowing you were loved, that I will never forget you, that you will live in everything Connor and I do. Go knowing I love you purely, Harry, that you were an amazing father. Go knowing I told you all my secrets. Because you were my best friend. Harry died an hour later.”

"So what do you think really happend out there?"
1996
August wanted to be anywhere but here right now.
It was early morning, two hours shy from when she had to be in a classroom- foot tapping, eyes rolling, and boredom already becoming something she was dreading.
She flipped the fried eggs as her mom floated around the kitchen talking August and her siblings ear off about the next few days ahead.
Nothing she and her siblings hadn't heard before. Their mom had a press conference in Tampa and was already anticipating leaving her children behind for some hot fuck to probably make some more.
If there's anyone August hated it was her mother.
Usually as she was the eldest it was up to her to make sure her siblings were fed and roofed while her mother was gone, but in two days time she was sure she'd be at nationals winning the trophy with her best friend Van right at her side.
She couldn't wait.
"Now remember Augustine, no party's, no boys, absolutely no mischief while I'm gone."
She rolled her eyes, "that's nice and all mother, but it seems you've forgotten. Willa is in charge this week."
Her mother could only pause, sighing prickly like she hadn't known her daughter was going out of town for the past week.
"Fine. Willa you heard what I just said. Remember feed your brothers, your sister will leave you money on the table before she leaves, a vacation charge since she thinks she deserves to go on her trip."
August sighed sharply, scraping the rest of the eggs roughly on to the plate before placing it in front of her baby brother. Messing with his curls before moving on to her other brother, giving him is food as well- kissing the side of his head.
August and Willa served themselves, both having the smallest portion in comparison to their mother and brothers plates.
The two made eye contact, a silent promise made to be kept while August would be gone.
They kept the stare until a loud honking echoed from the outside of the house, a yell making its way from the screen door.
"A! We're late hurry the fuck up!"
August, avoiding her mother's glared scooped up the rest of her food. It being gone quick due to the urgency. Grabbing her bag sliding her books and pens inside and hopping to the door with one foot out of her shoe.
"Bye loves, mom- don't wait up!"
She yelled, running out the door to her smirking friend waiting impatiently for the brunette.
"How are the kiddies?" Was the first thing Van asked as August climed through her car window (the door was sealed shut).
"They could be better-"
One leg through.
"Uh- if my mom wasn't such a bitch, drive."
As she got her other leg in.
Van laughed and just sped off in her shitbox car she stole off her dad after he left.
Van and August met when they were in elementary school, initially bonding on the fact that they both had shitty moms and shared love for music and soccer.
After they had already become friends Van's dad left and August's died and the bond had been sealed forever.
Trauma can do that shit.
Wouldn't they know it.
"She still going on that trip?"
"Yup." And she was not happy about it. The trip hadn't even been scheduled when her team had won their ticket to nationals, but as soon as August brought up the tickets to her mom it had been suddenly booked for months.
Her mom hadn't wanted her to go.
"What our lovely mothers dont realize is once we are gone were gone- like do they think we'll just always stick around?"
Van had come up with the theory August's mom had scheduled the trip as a power move, a way to tell her even when the options right there- that'd she would never leave.
Thank god for Willa.
Willa was two years under August, a sophomore and August's first best friend. The two sisters are close and have already agreed to naming any future children after each other. Spouses be damned.
August scoffed once more, leaning down into her bag taking out her journal and turning up their favorite band. Noting that they were almost at the camp grounds where the party was being held. Yes the party was in their honor but with the two of them being in student council it was their job to help set these things up.
(It also helped the school didn't realize August had a fake ID and would usually booze these things up)
It's there fault for never having adult supervision at these things.
Hours later and now in the locker room prepping for the pep rally, the girls were in better moods. Blasting music and brushing hair was what you'd see and hear if you even walked past the girls locker room door in the hallway.
"here I go, here I go, here I go again! girls whats my weakness?" they all sang and shouted "men!" at the end.
Natalie and Lottie dancing around each other was all August could notice as she tried not to stare from her locker.
Only joining in on the fun as Van grabbed her arms and started jumping like they were about to get in a fight- singing along practically screaming the lyrics in each other's faces.
"i swear, I stared, my niece my witness, my brother had it goin on with something kind of. uh! wicked wicked had to kick it!"
Only letting go when it was clear they really didn't have the time to be fooling as the girls did face paint and tied up there sneakers.
August adjusted her bangs one more time before closing her locker and migrating to the far left of the room, where she could now hear the conversation happening.
"Well- hey at least you can wear it next year." Her best friend offered as comfort to the freshman pouting over prom.
"You don't get it Van, cause nobody asked you."
August raised her eyebrows at the white girls audacity and Van's non existent reaction. If it were her, she didn't give a damn that she was on her team why does she think it's any of her business?
"Okay, your done." Van said nodding lightly at the freshman. Until she smiled and walked away like she didn't just drop a bitch bomb.
Lottie waited by the door until she was gone, only letting out a "Jesus christ" at the display from minutes prior.
While snorts and chuckles were let out in the locker room. Before the four girls, Van, Lottie, Tai, and August moved to check their reflection in the mirror.
"Does someone wanna tell Kelly Kapowski
to maybe worry less about prom and maybe more about not fucking up nationals"
"Oh come on"
"She's right-"
"I mean if she plays like she did at states."
"That's not going to happen." Tai said leaning back with her arms crossed, letting August come over and help wrap a silk scarf around her head like a headband.
"Anyone see jackie?"
"Right here." The girl in question said, leaving the coaches office smirking smug and she gestured to the gym doors.
"Sounds like our cue gals" brushing past August's shoulder as she walked past.
"Sound like our cue gals" August repeated, mocking the teams captain making brief eye contact with Nat on the way out to the gym, hearing the last of the boys team lame portion of the celebration.
August knew she was a bitch eighty percent of the time. She just had little energy for others bullshit and can almost always tell when someone's going to end up being a snake. And little miss Jackie Taylor had been on that list since day one.
Starting to run when Jackie did, number 10 Augstine Jones made her effort to bask in the praise while she had it.
Smiling up at everyone at the bleachers feeling like she'd accomplished something, humming along in her head when she felt inspiration flooding towards her brain.
As soon as they were excused she ran back to the locker room searching for a pen and her book, settling for a pencil and a sticky note she'd shove in later writing down sort rhyming lines.
She knew the lines were sad, but they were just as much poetic if anything. Which was pretty much her brand with everything these days.
As the other girls rushed into the locker room, mostly prepping for the fact that now that the glory was over they had to practice for the next couple hours.
A faint clearing of a throat got her attention and she turns to the left to see Taissa nudging her head out side staring at her with wide eyes.
Taissa and August weren't close but the two had definitely established a bond. Being two of the very few black girls in their age group, plus their mutual connection and love for Van kept them friendly.
August shoved the sticky note somewhere in her locker, closing it before jogging out the room where she discovered Tai, Nat, and Lottie waiting for her to join them.
"Group meeting- now." Tai said leaning the other confused girls out the school.
"Sorry to burst your bubble there T but this isn't the team- it's like less than a portion of it." August said leaning up against a lamp post when they finally got outside.
Tai rolled her eyes and started her point. Talking about taking about Ally and how she would end up dragging down the team if they let her have the ball during nationals.
Nat looked upset and kept glancing at August expecting the same reaction.
Though all she would find was a contemplative face as she thought about what Taissa had brought up.
"This is what we've worked for all season. Do you really wanna take that chance?"
"Yeah" Nat said straighting up her shoulders, "because I'm not a fuckin asshole."
"What are you guys talking about?" Shauna joined,
"Ally" lottie said nodding her head slightly.
"What about her?"
"Did you black out at states? She totally choked-"
"She's a freshman-"
"Which is exactly why Tai has a point. She's a freshmen, she needs another year or so before being a varsity. I don't know what coach was thinking."
"Exactly she's a liability."
"So what do you want to do about it?"
"She can't screw up if she doesn't get the ball."
"You wanna freeze her out." Shauna concluded, as August raised her eyebrows expecting a better plan.
They were a team and while yes she was a liability it was a weaker move to just not use her at all. It shows that they aren't a team and that isn't what champions do.
"At least we know what we're working with." Tai said looking for security in her team.
Lottie and August stared at each other, "she kind of sucks but- I don't know."
August shook her head, "I agree she definitely shouldn't be playing- but maybe we could convince coach to bench her or something. I mean we really don't need her and it's for a logical reason."
Technically they really didn't need Ally there. The Yellowjackets had a centerback and Ally was really there for back up, which Lottie wouldn't end up needing anyway. It was better to just bench her incase the girls did need her.
"You need a logical reason because it's bullshit-"
"Oh yeah? What's your plan?"
"Play like a fucking team and win? Its worked so far."
She shook her head- "everything works until it doesn't. And for the record, you smell like a wino, get your shit together"
"Don't fuckin talk to her like that tai!"
"Okay- now you shut up." Nat waved her hand in August's face.
"You don't get to defend me after siding with her." She said, August rolling her eyes at the childness of it all.
"And you know what- fuck this." She threw her hands up and just walked away- the other girls letting her.
While August just sighed and followed after the blond who wasn't giving her the time of day. Eventually she followed Nat all the way to practice, where there was no opening to even talk to her.
But August knew that. Coach was a grade a asshole- even with Coach Scott taking over for him today. There were strict rules when it came to practice starting.
"Alright bring it in, take a knee ladies!"
Coach Scott said as everyone kneeled around him in the grass.
"What up state champs!" he yelled out as everyone cheered.
"Okay- so JV is gonna help us out with a little scrimmage today, uh Coach Martinez had to take care of a family thing, so JV your gonna grab a pinny from Misty and let's get started." Coach Scott said.
"uh excuse me Coach Scott? shouldnt we say a prayer first?" Laura Lee asked a hopeful but expectant expression on her face.
He hesitated but shook his head tiredly, "Its just a scrimmage Laura Lee, but sure. Yeah knock yourself out. Everyone joined together reluctantly and listened as laura lee said some prayer, everyone said amen and then as soon as they could got to playing the game.
Shauna dribbles upfield, easily maneuvering around the JV defender. Allie races open on her left, but Shauna ignores her, opting for a trickier pass to Van. When Natalie darts in and kicks the ball.
"Nat over here!" August said, but instead
she ignored her and passed the ball to Ally.
August just ignored the petty girl, continuing to run. Like she hadn't just been ignored.
"Alright lets go varsity! Taissa wants to see you step it up and quite frankly that makes two of us! lets see some hustle!" Coach Scott said.
The game kept progressing, getting slightly heated though only a scrimmage.
Shauna and Taissa continued on with the plan, dodging any attempt Ally made for the ball and it got to the point of Jackie and Van staring right at the two girls almost asking 'what the fuck?'
August who'd walked away before Shauna and Taissa agreed on the plan. Had only recently caught on to the fact that they were in fact going through with it.
She contemplated if she should or shouldn't- before she heard a sickening snap!
Turning her head to Taissa and Ally she sees- well she doesn't quite know what she's looking at, is that bone?
When she comes to the realization it is- August turns away immediately walking to the other side of the field trying to catch her breath in shock of what just happened, because previous to before the break she'd just been sprinting across the field.
Only half registering her best friend to the side of her throwing up her guts, until she snapped out of it and grabbed on to Van's hair as the girl puked.
Once Ally was taken by the ambulance, Coach Scott riding with her to the hospital the rest of the team walked back to the locker room in silence.
A tense air floating around as the girls slowly got ready to head home for the night until the party later.
Everyone's avoiding eye contact- really unsure about what they would even say if someone did open their mouth.
Except Nat, who's very obviously glaring at Tai. Jackie is the one who breaks the silence. Her perky voice echoing in the room as she says "I know we're all worried about Allie. But I really think we need
to focus on the positive right now. It might not be as bad as it looks"
Nat scoffs shaking her head.
"You could see her fucking bones, Jackie. I'm pretty sure it's exactly as bad as it looks."
"Oh God. I think I'm gonna puke again…" Van said, shaking her head regrettably, as August looked at her and hesitantly rubbed her back- hoping to give some sort of comfort.
Jackie glares a Nat, taking a breath before continuing "I mean, we're still a team. And we still have each other. And…"
She drifted off as August muttered "some team we are" shaking her head and looking to nat with an apologetic look. The guilt already rushing in, knowing she even just slightly agreed with the plan.
Jackie just turned to Shauna hoping for some backup- but really all she got was a tired look.
Natalie just slams her locker shut. Done with this conversation and intense air. Leaving the locker room dramatically as Augustine not so discrete slowly inched up and followed after the girl.
Hoping it looked like she just wanted to get out of there despite Van being her ride.
(Though she wasn't really)
Following Nat out into the hallway all the way till they made it to Nats car. August very quickly snatching the keys from her already knowing most likely she wasn't sober.
They both got in and August started driving, the same tense air having followed all the way to the car.
"So, are you going to stay mad at me forever?"
Natalie sighed and turned to look out the window. "I'm- I'm not mad at you okay."
"Okay? So why do I suddenly feel like I ripped up your favorite Montley Crue shirt?" August asked the fake blond teasingly.
That got Nat to loosen up a bit, "Oh please if anything it's your favorite shirt- with how often you steal it."
"The day I stop wearing your clothes is the day we break up love."
"Yeah well that's not happening anytime soon." She said, suddenly staring at August with her pouty lip jutted out like she was upset.
August and Van had to be the queens of secret relationships. Though August definitely took the title for this one because hers remained a secret to her best friend.
August and Natalie had almost always been foils in their day to day life. Pure opposites yet so alike at the same time, they clashed perfectly.
They had years of unreleased sexual tension by homecoming of junior year, they were fucking by Christmas and in love by Valentines.
The two had kept it a secret for their parents sake, with Nats dad and August's mom being on their backs constantly it was easier keeping those parts of themselves hidden away.
The only one who even knew they were closer than just two teammates was Natalie's mom who just assumed they were close friends who had a lot of sleepovers.
Van knows that there's someone in August's life she just never pushes for details. If anyone knows the backlash a secret coming out can have its her.
So she goes with the flow dropping August off everyday and going home with Taissa, only knowing that her friends has a ride with someone who loves her.
Speaking of a ride. August pulls over, face impassive as she stared at nothing. Nat knows better than to say anything, giving time and patience to the girl in front of her.
August's hands came up to Nats face, redirecting the girls focus to her. Cupping her cheeks and bringing their lips together.
Although the annoyance for her girlfriend was still firmly in her chest, she would never fight August. Instead leaning further into the kiss.
When they separated all August could think was, "You sure your not mad?"
"No, more disappointed that you would've just let that happen." She said, grazing her hand up and down the brunettes cheek.
Leaning closer, right up next to August's ear she whispers. "But I may know of a few ways you can make it up to me." She smirks leaning back on the leather seats, looking down at her girlfriends love shining through her eyes as clear as glass.
"Well then I must not disappoint."

It's no accident that:
You learned about Helen Keller but not W.E.B. DuBois.
You learned about the Watts and L.A. Riots, but not Tulsa or Wilmington.
You learned that George Washington’s dentures were made from wood, rather than the teeth of slaves.
You learned about black ghettos, but not about Black Wall Street.
You learned that Christopher Columbus discovered America, but not that his "conquests" also involved raping young girls and women.
You learned about the New Deal, but not “red lining.”
You learned about Tommie Smith’s fist in the air at the 1968 Olympics, but not that he was sent home the next day and stripped of his medals.
You learned that Rosa Parks sat on a bus, but not about her decade of activist work that led to that moment.
You learned about “black crime,” but white criminals were never lumped together and discussed in terms of their race.
You learned about “states rights” as the cause of the Civil War, but not that slavery was mentioned 80 times in the articles of secession.
You learned about the explorations of a few white men and little to nothing about the cultures they "explored."
You learned that interracial relationships became legal in 1967, but not that white men had an unofficial yet socially accepted right to rape Black women for the 400 years previous.
You learned about the Declaration of Independence, but not that it also declares an inherent right to wage war against "merciless Indian Savages."
You know about affirmative action for non-white college students, but have no idea about how the G.I. Bill provided the same exact benefits, only to whites, decades earlier.
Privilege includes having history rewritten so that you don’t have to acknowledge uncomfortable facts.
Racism and oppression are perpetuated by people who refuse to learn about or acknowledge this reality.
You have a choice

Hello everyone- I just wanted to put it out there, I've officially discontinued 'Witching Hour'. As much as I love my plot and the characters I've made, Twyla was originally made due to a short lived crush on Xavier Thorpe. While I do still love his character, with the news of what his actor did I can not continue writing abt him with a good state of mind. It keeps money in actors pockets when you continue to support and use their characters, even when they have no contact with what I'm doing. I've personally looked over the suggestions made to continue the book, and I've gotten a few good ones. Though Twyla is a character that'll always be put with Xavier in my mind. With that news, i'm starting a new series so if any of you guys are interested in a Scream 1996 fic ask to be on the tag list or keep an eye out!
Love you all

Witching Hour
Summary: Twyla Addams and her twin gets sent off to Nevermore school of the supernatural and anything weird- they get exposed to new secrets, a mystery, and budding friendships, and romances.
Warning: murder, torture, kissing, mental illnesses
| |
TWYLA HAD SEPARATED from her family a while ago,
and had been led to her room by a quiet vampire named Yoko. Who had informed her that later she'd get her schedule after she was given a tour with her sister, via her sisters' new roommate Enid.
Who Wednesday was meeting presently.
Twyla could only imagine how amazing that was going.
Not that Wednesday wasn't a likable sort but- well she wasn't a likable sort.
Twyla was similar to her in that way but had her own personality that somehow attracted the people around her.
It might be because she keeps all- well most of her inner thoughts, in her mind. She doesn't go around challenging everyone around her unless she's in a mood or just protective.
Which is something Wednesday does often.
Twylas room was nice- though plain. She had her own ideas on what to do with it.
It was a spacious, long wooden floor with a nook space up a ladder.
The room did have some windows, though all of them were covered by a blind material that looked really good at keeping light out.
The walls were a grey color, except one which was white. It had a small note stuck with some tape saying 'wall prepped for wallpaper if wanted'
There is also a small bathroom painted white, with a circular mirror and a green tiled shower.
She spent her time looking through the drawers, making plans on what she wanted to do. Paint this wall here, add wallpaper, a rug, a desk, and maybe a couch.
Twyla walked to the last door in the bedroom finding a small closet that she could barely walk into. She swiped her hand across the top shelf only finding dust. It would appear no ones lived here for a while.
Or the last person was just really plain and lazy.
Her new uniform had been set out on the sink tile in the bathroom so she took initiative and changed. Both hers and Wednesday's uniforms had been tailor-made all black and grey.
Seeing as the two girls usually stayed away from color per family tradition.
There was a knock on the door that echoed in the empty room, "um- hi im Enid- im here with your sister, are you ready for the tour?"
Twyla sighed, having been enjoying the quiet. Though Enid sounded nervous and she knew her sister was unsettling.
While she was pretty much the same she figured Enid might have been looking for a type of escape.
Once she gathered the energy she left the green-tiled bathroom and opened up her door, only to see her sister alongside with a bright-colored girl with platinum hair and blue/pink ends.
She was smiling brightly and only faltered a second when she noticed the black and grey uniform, familiar pale gaze, and dark silky strands of hair let loose pin straight with a few strands of hair framing her face.
"Hi im Enid- um
Again im here to take you on your tour, and to get your classes."
Twyla eyed her for a minute. Switching her gaze to her sister right after.
"you sound pleasant," Twyla said almost whimsically, not paying too much attention to the girl and more on how funny it was Wednesday was paired with her.
"I'm Twyla, shall we?"
"yes, of course, let's go!" Enid said walking away already excited.
She took Wednesday and Twyla through all of Ophelia Hall, pointing out which room is who and how each dorm space all had a dorm mom or dad.
Eventually, the three girls had gotten to a staircase that they'd been walking down to what seemed to be the main part of the school.
"Nevermore was founded in 1791, to educate people like us. Outcasts, freaks, monsters,"
Twyla had to admit Enid was pretty good at this whole 'tour guide' thing she had going on.
As they stepped off the staircase Enid turned around and continued talking animatedly while walking backward.
"fill in your favorite marginalized group here."
Despite all her efforts Wednesday still remained unimpressed.
Twyla however hated to say the school (and enid) was growing on her. she mostly hated it in the first place because it was her moms' way of having her and Wednesday following her planned life for them.
It also didn't help they had tacky uniforms and are filled with cliques like every other high school around the world.
But the idea of just being herself here really didn't sound all that bad, plus Enid kinda has this magnetic personality that'll eventually pull you in, even if it takes a while.
Like Twyla figures, it would be that way with Wednesday if they decided to stay.
"you can save the sanitized sales pitch. We don't plan on staying here for long."
So far that didn't seem likely- and wherever Wednesday goes so does Twyla.
"why not?"
"This was our parent's idea," Twyla explained shortly after catching her eye on her mother, front and center in a picture of her and the fencing team.
Wednesday shortly noticed the picture as well, "oh look there's our mother smirking at us. They've been looking for any excuse to send us here."
"It's actually been annoying they keep bringing it up during completely different conversations."
"it's all about their nefarious yet completely obvious plan."
Enid- obviously happy she was getting some sort of gossip was smiling interested, "what plan?"
"to turn the two of us into versions of themselves." Wednesday finished.
Enid however wasn't done, "well in that case perhaps you can clear something up." she left the trophy case we were standing near and started walking head held high as she spoke.
"rumors been swirling around that you two killed a kid at your old school, and your parents pulled strings to get you off."
The twins looked at each other then Wednesday walked ahead, "actually it was two kids." Twyla soon followed, passing Enid as well.
"but who's counting?" she teased.
They walked forward till they reached the quad doors, Twyla who didn't really want to go outside hesitated for a moment before following after her sister, Enid close behind.
Once she caught up, she spread her arms and announced.
"Welcome to the quad."
"It's a Pentagon."
"the whole snarky goth girl thing might have worked for your guys' normie school but here things are different. Twyla, you're doing well though."
Was this a test of some sort?
"let me give you a wiki on Nevermore's social scene."
Enid said as she walked away this time Wednesday closely following after her, "im not interested in participating in tribal adolescent cliches."
"well then use it to fill your obviously bottomless pit of disdain."
Twyla couldn't help but find that funny, even if she didn't show it- she hovered close behind them not speaking much figuring this was a roommate squabble.
"There are many flavors of outcasts here, but the four main cliques are Fangs, Furs, Stoners, and Scales."
We reached a table area where there were obviously the Fangs sipping away at some red drink staring slightly at the three girls.
Enid gestured to them before informing us of what they were
cause it was just so hard to put together that the people drinking blood were the Vampires.
They walked forward some more before Enid announced the werewolves, who she mentioned were her species.
When they reached a stop once more this time Wednesday was able to make the inference, "im assuming scales are sirens?"
"you catch on quick. And that girl Bianca Barclay is the closest thing Nevermore has to royalty. Although her crowns been slipping lately."
She then pointed to a guy painting a mural of a raven on one of the school walls, "she used to date our resident tortured artist, Xavier Thorpe. But they broke up at the beginning of the semester. Reason unknown."
Twylas eyes caught Xavier's figure once he turned around slightly- and while she wasn't into the whole 'I've liked you from the moment I saw you' bullshit she had to admit he was a very pretty boy.
"fascinating."
"I know right? My vlog is, like, the number one source for Nevermore Gossip."
"oh well that makes sense considering your so good at it." snarked Twyla from beside Wednesday, slightly realizing she and Wednesday shouldn't have told her anything.
Seeing as she was kinda a gossip queen who probably shouldn't be trusted.
Twyla made a note of that in her head.
"Yo, Enid! You're not gonna believe the dirt I heard about your new roommate and her twin. They eat human flesh. And one of them is a ghost. And they totally chowed down on that kid they murdered. You better watch your back on that tour later."
Enid petrified, with her eyes wide, just stepped back revealing Twyla and Wednesday.
"quite the contrary. We actually fillet the body of our victims, then feed them to our menagerie of pets."
"They like the flesh with a little bit of lemon and paprika- kinda like fish. And im, not a ghost that would require me being dead."
He just stood there awkwardly as the realization sunk in that this was the tour.
"Ajax, this is my new roommate and her sister, Wednesday and Twyla."
"whoa- you two are in black and white."
Gesturing to Enid, "like a living Instagram filter-"
"ignore him. Gorgons spend way too much time getting stoned. He's cute but clueless."
Twyla wondered for a second if she was being literal- were they actually stoning themselves or were they getting stoned. By like smoking.
If so she may just have to make some Gorgan friends.
"it's a small school. There wasn't much online about you two. You know you should really get on isn't a snap and TikTok."
"I find social media to be a soul-sucking void of meaningless affirmation."
Then she walked away, Twyla almost did too but turned around last second.
"I don't mind social media just never really bothered with it- maybe you could teach me sometime?"
Twyla figured that trusting the gossip queen was a horrible idea- being friends with her couldn't.
She has access to all the gossip in the school and considering she was considering staying awhile, that wasn't a bad resource to have.
Enid lit up and smiled, ready to make Twyla her new bestie.
"oh im sooo down, maybe some weekend we could catch a bus to the weathervane over in Jerico and we can go over it then?"
"I'd love that," Twyla said with a straight face, before swiftly turning around and following her sister down the halls and back to the entrance doors where her family was waiting, already saying goodbye to Wednesday.
Pugsley's face lit up as he saw her and ran from staring at his sister to his other sister.
He smiled sadly at her waiting until she opened her arms to jump in them.
"I don't know what im going to do without you twi."
"oh- you'll survive."
She repeated and took his face in her gloved hands, "and if you don't, I swear on mom I will bring you back to life. Just to force you in a room with ten hungry lions."
He gulped slightly when during her threat her eyes melted from the brown iris and the rest of the white to a deep black which smoked out like a shadow- because well it was a shadow.
He nodded a few times sadly before rushing to Lurch to stay put till it was over since the sensitive boy knew if he stayed any longer he would cry.

Her dad walked towards her arms out, he grabbed her shoulder and head with each hand and said, "oh look at you my little poltergeist you'll fit right in im sure."
His goodbye however was cut off when Morticia cut in and asked to just speak to Twyla alone now that she was done with Wednesday.
He nodded understanding and kissed Twyla's head before heading to Pugsley who was waiting as well.
Her mother stalked forward, her beautiful gown dragging against the stone ground before she reached her daughter.
Once she got to Twyla. She reached out and grabbed her forearms shaking her head.
"Oh my darling Twyla, I've told you this a million times but im just going to tell you this last time. Ever since I was going here, with my twin I had dreams of showing my daughter this school- seeing her with her uniform and sending her off to one of the most terrible places I've ever been in. Then My Twyla died, and I just knew.
When I had you I looked into your eyes and I just knew. You are going to be exceptional at this school. And I hope you'd be open to friends, and falling in love."
Twyla stayed silent, keeping her composure.
Dammit, she was supposed to be mad at this woman.
"we'll see."
Morticia cleared her throat smiling softly at the ground before looking back up at her daughter "I got you something. As a little goodbye present."
She revealed a small velvet bag shed been holding in her hand this entire time and held it out to Twyla.
Twyla hesitantly took the bag and open it letting a necklace fall out delicately into her gloved palm.
It was a smoky quartz and shaped like a flower,
"This used to belong to your grandmother, she gave it to my twin who eventually was buried with it. I dug it up for you my darling, I hope you go through your school days and cherish it like I know she did. And maybe give it a different ending this time and don't die on me?"
Her dark eyes filled with tears, she reached out and grabbed her daughter's face and smiled tearily, "your sister has your crystal ball. I gave it to her, call if you ever need anything and I mean anything. Though there's no contact the first week- so ill call you two next Sunday.
She smiled one more time at the two before clutching her hands and walking to the car.
Wednesday walked up next to Twyla after and they watched the car drive off.

Witching Hour
Summary: Twyla Addams and her twin gets sent off to Nevermore school of the supernatural and anything weird- they get exposed to new secrets, a mystery, and budding friendships, and romances.
Warning: murder, torture, kissing, mental illnesses
| |
TWYLA THOUGHT she'd learned what torture was a long time ago.
She's not so sure now.
Sitting in a car next to her sister, a frown evident on her face as she watched the trees go by. Waiting for the ridiculous song playing and her parents' affection to just be over.
Though she was afraid she'd never see the day that happened.
As it shows her parents adored each other.
Sometimes a blessing, most times a curse. They were always all over each other.
Plus, Twyla didn't like cars.
She'd much prefer to be on a train or better yet in her shadows, knowing both options would get her to the school much faster.
Which would only give her more time to scope out the area and start planning her escape plan.
She and Wednesday had no intention of staying for very long.
Her parents ended the song with a long kiss that both girls watched with disgust in their minds but her face kept as dead and straight as ever.
Their mother, Morticia had looked at them both and only sighed. Her shoulders dropped as she spoke,
"Loves', how long do you intend on giving us the cold shoulder?"
The two girls sighed in unison turning to look at each other before Wednesday sighed once more before turning to look at their family's driver and close friend.
"Lurch. Please remind our parents that were no longer on speaking terms."
Twyla turned last second as well, catching her brother's eyes.
"and remind them it'll stay that way until they let us leave the misfit school."  she huffed before turning back to the two distraught parents.
"Well I promise you my little vipers, you will love Nevermore."
Turning to his wife,
"won't they Tish?"
He attempted to guarantee. Though Morticia only agreed with the statement.
Nodding her head. "Of course. It's the perfect school for them."
"Why? Because it was the perfect school for you?"
Wednesday said back.
Twyla, looked back at the window as she spoke to her mother as well.
"We have no interest in living up to the family name- better yet your name. Being captain of a stupid fencing team, winning a stupid trophy
That no one is going to care about in two years. Queen of a prom im not going to show up at, a president of the seance society."
"I merely meant that finally, you will be among peers who understand you. Maybe you'll even make some friends," she said, smirking teasingly obviously hinting at boys (or girls).
"Nevermore is like no other boarding school. It's a magical place," he swore, turning to his wife.
"It's where I met your mother. And we fell in love." he practically whispered to her before Wednesday cut in.
"you guys are making us nauseous. And not in a good way, you know how Twyla gets in cars."
Their mother only scoffed looking at the two before settling her eyes on Twyla, considering it was her plan.
"Darlings, we aren't the ones who got you expelled. That boy's family was going to file attempted murder charges. How would that have looked on your record?"
Twyla paled more at the embarrassing thought.
"Just lovely- everyone would know we failed to execute it correctly," she replied sarcastically, looking back at the window annoyed with Dalton for putting her in this situation in the first place.
Pressing charges- please, she did him and womankind a favor.
No mother should have to be stuck raising his mini douchebags.
Her mother just hummed at her. Nodding get head slightly as a silent, 'im right, again.'
They passed another old car as they rode away toward the school.
Then once they got to Nevermore, passing the creepy gate that practically labeled the school as haunted on its own.
Her mother looked out the window and smiled eerily.
"at least it's turning into a beautiful day."
Thunder rumbled out almost immediately after she said so, Twyla begrudgingly agreed nodding her head slightly in agreement, loving the stormy weather.
Getting out was like a workout on Twylas' legs. She usually never had to sit for that long.
And once she was out, she was off to the principles office.
One minute in and she knew she wouldn't like her. Far too smiley and fake for her taste.
"Wednesday and Twyla are certainly unique names. I'm guessing it's the day and time you two were born on?"
"Our birthday is Friday the thirteenth." Wednesday deadpanned.
Their mother stepped in, trying to control the situation.
"Wednesday's name comes from a line from my favorite nursery rhyme, 'Wednesday's child is full of woe' then Twyla's name is from the word twilight. Though she was named after my late sister."
Weems just smiled and took it in stride, "you always had such a unique perspective on the world, Morticia."
"hmm"
"Did your mother tell you we were roommates back in the day?" she continued.
"and you graduated, still with the ability to smile like a granny."  Twyla started with a fake impressed voice.
Wednesday finished, as she always did. Leaning back in her seat, "impressive."
Weems looked down, taking a breath before continuing. "well you two certainly have had a very interesting educational journey. Eight schools in five years." She sounded astonished.
"They haven't built one strong enough to hold us."
Twyla leaned forward taking candy from the principles jar while speaking, "we're sure this place won't be any different."
Their father cut in, trying to save the conversation with the smiley principal.
"What I believe our daughter is trying to say, is that she greatly appreciates the opportunity."
Greatly appreciates the opportunity- my ass.
What a bunch of bullshit.
"Nevermore doesn't usually accept students mid-term, but given the girls perfect grades. And your family's long history with the school, I've spoken to the board and we've made an exception."
Wooooow lucky us.
"um, Larissa what about their um- therapy sessions. The court ordered them."
Larissa just nodded and leaned forward. "well, the school has a relationship with a therapist in Jericho who can meet
twice a week."
"did you hear that my little storm clouds? Your in excellent hands."
"maybe. If she survives the first ten minutes then we might have a shot."
Maybe when Twyla was tired she was more rude? Or that could've just been the Santa-looking woman in the seat across from her.
The principal just looked down and continued, Twyla assumed she got a lot of this- considering she was the principal of a school of literal 'outcasts'.
"I've assigned you two to your mothers' old dorm. Ophelia hall. Wednesday you will have a roommate so please play nice. And Twyla I've been told you do well alone. In the dark. So I've assigned you to a single room at the end of the hall."
Morticia smiled and gasped with reminisce in her eyes, turning to look at her daughters- Twyla being closer to her.
"refresh my memory. Ophelia is the one who kills herself after being driven mad by her family. Is that correct?"
It was silent a moment before Twyla turned to her sister and nodded curtly almost smiling at the irony her parents were just placed with.
"shall we go meet your new roommate?"

NANCY REAGAN HIGHSCHOOL, eight schools, five years. It's safe to say Twyla and Wednesday are a bit of a nuisance to the public school system.
Oh and that. The public school system...
"hundreds of adolescents in underfunded schools, run by people whose dreams were crushed years ago"
Though they admire the sadism.
Said girls, walked through the hall. Loud giggles and crowds of friends parting for the girls, as they whisper and gossip. Even the teachers and faculty crowded around to watch as Twyla and Wednesday reached their brother's locker.
The bell rang and soon everyone scattered around eager to get home. A group of jocks shoved and pushed each other around laughing at the locker that was shaking with smothered sounds of panic.
They only laughed harder rushing away like idiots once the two approached.
Wednesday opened the door with sharpie scattered all around decorating it with words of hatred, and soon the girls' brother; Pugsley fell out.
Wrapped up tight in a rope of twine and an apple sitting in his mouth.
The first question in Twyla's mind- and mouth was "who did this?"
Pugsley just whimpered and shook his head frantically the apple still stuck tightly in his mouth.
"I want names."
Wednesday knelt taking the apple from his mouth and started expectantly.
He still just shook his head and whispered "I don't know who they were. Honest, it happened so fast."
Wednesday just sighed and began undying him, not noticing when her twin snuck off slowly walking herself into the locker and joining the shadows.
"Pugsley. Emotion equals weakness. Pull yourself together."
He just whimpered more.
"Now."
Looking back in her peripheral when she noticed her siren-eyed sister no longer standing behind her.
But rather a few feet away, walking fast in the walls.
Only focus on one thing and only feeling a dark need for revenge. Despite her younger brother being unwilling to give up names- it didn't take a genius to put it together.
Just think of all the context clues, who wrote those things on his locker? Who just so happened to be standing right outside his locker when she approached? Who ran away laughing as soon as she got there?
Plus who's had a history of picking on smaller students?
Conveniently she also knew just where they'd be after school.
She left the school quick.
Due to her shadow powers she often found it easier to get places on time, time moves a lot slower when your someone or something else's shadow.
She made quick of her errand once she got to her destination and hurried back only making it to the end of her sibling's conversation,
"what I do best." she walked away not noticing the shadow trailing behind her feet.
Once she reached some shadowy steps, Twyla jumped out from behind her and whispered "so what's your plan?"
Wednesday surprised but not fazed turned around slow with her mouth open. Ready to speak of her plan but her eyes caught on the shiny plastic bags full of water and fish that her sister had dangling from her gloved hands.
"well, that'll do."
Twyla raised her eyebrows slowly and slunked down the rest of the steps not making a sound.
Her deadpan expression showed no signs of her plan when she disappeared once more.
This time Wednesday followed her figure through the school, passing the class they were just in avoiding looking at the teacher locking up his class who only stared at Wednesday and the figure of a girl in interest.
Threw the halls, and go to the school gym. Where the resident asswhole jocks were having swim practice.
What a bunch of white pussys.
As they walked up the steps (or in) the jocks noticed and stopped in their speedos.
"Dalton look pigsleys sister."
This 'Dalton' turned in the water eyes shining as he opened his mouth and said, "Hey freak, this is a closed practice."
Which for a reason unknown to Twyla- they all found funny.
The shadow gave Wednesday the bags and stayed put in the dark where she could only be.
"the only person who gets to torture my brother is my family."
Raising the bags of deadly piranhas. Holding them up. Letting them realize. Letting the horror sink into their bones while Twyla watched with a shiny smirk in the shadows.
They all started to share yells as they attempted to swim to shore. When Wednesday finally let the bag go.
It broke once it reached the water.
Approximately twenty fish let loose in a pool full of people. Reaching Dalton last.
Blood staining the pretty teal the pool had once been.
And a delightful scream. Along with a haunting smirk.
Solidifying Twyla and her sisters' fate.
At boarding school...
