Bruce has historically held a reputation amongst his peers as someone who does not hold attachment. He does not do open displays of emotion. He certainly doesn't date. The most he'll do is one-off hookups, and even then, he's up and out of bed seconds after he finishes. His politeness extends as far as a stilted "Thanks." and a walk to the door.

His relationship with his employees isn't much better. Bruce keeps a carefully curated mask on at all times, never letting it slip. He's polite and takes part in the performance that is societal theater but never bothers to take it farther.

This cycle continues well into his 30s until it all comes crashing down at an annual gala. He's sitting at the bar ordering his next drink when he happens to notice an attractive man a couple seats away from him. Bruce will never admit this in a million years, but it was love at first sight. Your bright eyes and adorable face as you tried to flag down the bartender made his heart constrict in adoration. He knew then and there that he was fucked.

Now, nearly 5 years later, you've domesticated him into a loyal puppy. The world renowned hard-ass Bruce Wayne is often seen in public trailing behind you with a look of exasperation and endearment. When you agree to do the rare interview together, viewers can't help but notice the way he has to touch you every few minutes to soothe his nerves. He thinks he's being slick with his stone faced expression so people don't have the heart to mention it to him. Bless him.

It's even worse when you're alone. That man is constantly lovin' on you. If he isn't busy covering your face in kisses, then he's probably watching you tell your stories with hearts in his eyes. Your soft timbre lulls him into a state of peace unlike anything else. Not to mention all the cuddling. You often switch who lays on whose chest or who gets to be the big spoon, but no matter what, he's eating that shit up.

Bruce also finds that his relationship with sex has changed. Years ago, he thought his one and done flings were enough "intimacy" to fulfill his needs. Since he's been with you, though, he realizes how wrong he was. The way you two explore and learn each other's bodies is unlike anything he's felt before. But the real difference is after the sex. When you two are lying face to face and sharing hushed pillow talk while he brushes your hair from your face. It's such a stark difference from his past self that would spring out of bed the first chance he got.

The only thing Bruce used to worry about was getting through each day and never looked beyond that. His focus and energy went into Wayne Enterprises and his work as Batman. He figured as long as he kept up appearances and the facade of perfection, then he would lead a successful life. Insuring survival was all that mattered. But now, all he can think about is building a future with you. He's no longer in survival mode but instead driven to live a happy life for you and with you. He knows it's corny but he likes to think you saved him.

Bruce watches you from the bed, his eyes tracing along your exposed skin as if he was some pubescent high schooler. Perhaps they were right about the no shoulders showing rule because he swears he’s drawn to it. You don’t even notice his staring; perhaps you do, but you’re so used to it that you don’t make it known. Bruce remembers when he first started doing that, watching you get dressed, how bashful you’d been back then and he’s glad you’re a lot more comfortable with it. With him. 

He stands from the lush bed and stalks over to you, his steps purposefully soft and nearly silent so you don’t notice him until you feel the warmth from behind you. He makes slow work of wrapping his hands across your stomach, his fingers gliding across your skin like he was skimming a page and kisses your left shoulder before looking at you through the mirror. 

You’re busy rubbing lotion onto your arms, but you welcome his presence by leaning into his touch and a small smile graces your face. He figures he should make himself useful rather than just standing there so he takes some lotion and starts to put it on your chest. Bruce watches as his fingers trace over your scars and then inhale your scent again while you scratch the side of his head as a thank you. His hands wander lower, running over your happy trail and you swear if you let him he would’ve worked on undoing your belt, too. 

“You’re a dog,” You muse, looking at him through the mirror. He just smiles and leans more into your neck. The feeling of his nose dragging along your neck makes you smile and you mess with his still unkempt hair. His hands raise from your stomach and instead circle around to your hips, keeping you from moving away from him. 

Not that you were going to. 

“You look magnificent,” He justifies his actions into your skin. The vibrations tickle you as they travel across your neck and you roll your head back onto his shoulder. “Are you sure we can’t miss the gala? It wouldn’t be the first one we did,” You’re unsure if he means for less than good reasons or if he means for when you go out in your suits and save the city. It’s probably both, all things considered. 

“Bruce,” You laugh, picking your head up. “It’s in the manor, how can you possibly skip that?” He shrugs but he definitely has a plan already made. You can tell because he has that twinkle in his eye and you doubt he goes anywhere without having an excuse to leave quickly. Plus he’s Batman, you don’t think he’s been unprepared since his time with those damn Tibetan Monks. 

Rather than responding, Bruce instead looks at you in the mirror, his eyes on your face while your eyes travel from his face down to his hands as he grips your hips before spinning you around. Your hands find their natural spot on his biceps while his hands travel to hold your ass, dipping you down to persuade you. When it doesn’t, he starts leaving small kitten kisses across your chest, all the while maintaining eye contact with you. 

“No, Bruce,” You urged through a laugh. “It’s a charity gala and you invited the League.”

“The League,” He huffs. “They’ll be fine without me— I’m a part-timer and I’ve already written the check for the charity. But,” He stands tall and puts his fist on his hips dramatically. “I think that there’ll be a domestic matter we’ll need to attend to halfway through. My dear, amazing, wonderful husband simply couldn’t bear to be around the annoying Oliver Queen.” He gives you a look and you mess with the scars on his arm. 

“Maybe,” You hum. “Or we can deal with it now, get it out of your system.”

“I do see the value in your option, but I think for maximum efficiency we should go with both options,” He nods, picking you up in one motion. Laughing, you hold onto his neck while he walks over to the bed, already kissing your neck.

Bruce places you softly on the bed before he lowers himself to his knees while you’re threading your fingers through his hair.  Unfortunately, the door opens as he places your legs over his shoulders and you rise to your elbows, seeing a tired-looking Alfred. He rolls his eyes, clearly having expected this to be the reason the hosts of the gala had yet to make their appearance. 

“Sorry, Alfred,” You wince while Bruce looks up from his spot between your legs. 

“You haven’t forgotten to knock, have you?” Bruce muses and Alfred rolls his eyes. 

“Nothing I haven’t seen before with the two of you. But do hurry, Master Bruce, Master (Y/n). Your guests are waiting,"

Bruce is now the age they were when they died, if not older. Assuming they come back the same age, that would put them all on equal footing. Bruce slowly realizes that even though they're his mother and father, the opportunity for them to parent him has passed. Alfred has been his parent for the majority of his life, and that's who he turns to for guidance.

If you want to add even more salt in the wound, think about the fact that Bruce has been a parent for longer than Thomas and Martha. Not only has he been parenting longer, but he also has a child from literally every walk of life. They couldn't even begin to fathom half of the things Bruce has been through as a father.

You and Bruce both have crunchy joints that flair up with the cold. Bruce, from years of torture and fighting that has since ground them to dust. You, unfortunately, were just born with the pain. Something you've had to endure lifelong.

Whenever it snows or rains, you two make the pilgrimage to your bedroom and curl up in your California King. You plug in your heating pads (much needed Christmas gifts from Alfred) and resign yourself to smelling like tiger balm for the rest of the day. The room is either left dark or with a lamp dimmed down, and it's silent save for the occasional whisper. Bruce has your leg swung over his hip while he massages your knee. You work on massaging his shoulder and hands. After a bit, you switch positions to work on other areas of each other's body.

Sometimes, the pain can weigh on both you mentally. If it becomes too much, and someone starts to tear up, the other will gently hold him to their chest and sooth him. You stroke his hair and whisper soft words until you drift off. Though you've been married for over a decade, you're still in awe that Bruce allows you to see him in such a vulnerable state.

Alfred will occasionally come in to check on the sad cocoon that is his son and son-in-law. He's more than happy to fetch whatever your heart desires. He even makes sure to keep his voice and movements particularly soft so as not to break the atmosphere that surrounds you. How he gets away with no aches and pains at his colossal age is beyond you. Nevertheless, you're thankful.

Bruce x Male Reader where, instead of dealing with the whole "Dad and Dad" thing, the batkids just call you some variation of Mom.

Bruce is already their dad, obviously, and he's SUCH a strong father figure, but sometimes, they yearn for something softer. More forgiving.

They come to you for comfort when something goes bad. Either on patrol or in their daily life. They'll lay with their head in your lap while you brush their hair out of their face and whisper loving words in your deep timbre.

On days when there's a gala to attend, you spend hours helping your little chicks with hairstyles and straightening up outfits. Whenever one of the boys lose their cufflinks, you playfully huff and roll your eyes before giving them a pair of your own (or Bruce's). Sometimes Cass and Steph come to ask you which pair of shoes go better with their dress or whether they should wear gold or silver jewelry.

It's these soft displays of affection that lend to them absentmindedly calling for 妈妈, Omm, Mami, Ma, or any other variation they can think of. At first, they're embarrassed and apologize, but you understand that they all have unconventional examples of what a family is. So, who are you to take this away from them? You'll be the best damn mama there is thank you very much!

God help anyone who tries to criticize you or the kids about it because they'll have a furious Bruce Wayne down their throats before they can even blink.

Speaking of Bruce, he's just so endeared by the whole thing. Watching the love of his life take care of his babies in such a nurturing way means the world to him. His own mother was so important to him, and he's glad his kids can find that same solace even if it's with their other father.
