This is the final month of the submission window to make our 2024 cryptid zine! Please get your art and writing to us by June 30th to be included. Everyone welcome - just draw or write about cryptids.
We will jam as many submissions as possible into it, like so many hopkinsville goblins in a tar paper shack.

We are about 1/3 of the way through the submission period of late June. We are still looking for cryptid art and writing.
The zine is shaping up well, but could use more contributions - especially writing. Poems, encounter stories, and essays are welcome!
Tumblr media
We will be posting zine updates here on the Tumblr account for the podcast from here out. We are eager to see what cryptid content shows up in our inbox.
Zine Details
Cryptid Encounters 2024 is a zine that celebrates cryptids and invites writers and artists to contribute material. Love cryptids and monsters? This is the zine for you!
The zine will be available for free download upon publication at the Supernatural Selection zine archive.
Participants can print, redistribute, and sell the zine as they see fit at conventions but cannot modify the contents. Participants retain all rights to their work included within the zine, and the Supernatural Selection podcast team makes no claim to the material, only the ability to archive and distribute the zine.
The current submission period is January 1st, 2024, to June 30th, 2024.

A fairly harmless tsukumogami. A little impish, but not too worrisome of a yokai.

On This Day in Cryptid History

On This Day in Cryptid History
March 3rd: On 1972, at around 1:00am, Loveland police officer Ray Shockey claimed to have seen a 3-4ft frogman walking across Riverside Drive. This was the first official sighting of the Loveland Frog, one of the strangest creatures in cryptozoology.

Super excited to officially announce that I’m going to be a speaker at this year’s International Cryptozoology Conference! I’ll be sharing “My Favorite 25 Cryptozoology Facts” at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 27th! It’s going to be a blast. I have to narrow down my facts and which ones I want to share!
I’m also going to have a vendor spot where I’ll be selling some of my silly needle felted cryptids and some cool resin items that my mom makes!

Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 24 — Cactus Cat
The Cactus Cat is a creature from American folklore. Cowboys and pioneers in the early 19th century reported encountering this strange creature in California, New Mexico, Nevada, and other areas of the southwestern US. It was described as a bobcat-like animal covered in sharp spines, having a tail with cacti-like branches, and with a sharp bone or barb protruding from each foreleg which it used to slash open cacti. It would wait for the exposed juice to ferment before partaking of it and becoming intoxicated.
