it’s been a while back so i’m w more song analysis!! this is too long i’m warning u now. in fact this might not even be readable im so sorry it’s just. so much rambling 😭
when memories snow (more mitski mm also i got tickets for her tour and i will not shut up ab it!!! she’s so cool!!!!!!!) is incredibly tim coded. the very sinister chords at the chorus, really makes you *feel* him spiralling - and the LYRICS ugh very ‘i’m trying to ignore/suppress my memories but they keep coming back against my will’ slash ‘bottling up all my feelings and forging on with my work. pretending they don’t exist’
hate yourself by tv girl is very nina x kate (in the sense of kate watching nina destroy herself for a man who does not even like her) ough. ‘i think you’d fall in love with anyone who fell in love with you / and they frequently do’ BC KATE DID!! kate fell in love with her!! also ‘i’ll just wait til those arms belong to me’ is so subtly manipulative which is very. yeah. kate’s definitely not perfect and i wouldn’t put her above being like that if she really wanted to. + the deceptively happy instrumental with vaguely dark lyrics = nina being overly outgoing and social to make up for the fact that her mental state is in absolute shambles (poor bby)
the wolf by siamés is both tim and brian but i think leans more brian (what is it with this man that makes me think of ‘walking music’. ykwim? the chain, the wolf, house of the rising sun all remind me of him. all very slow-threatening-determined-walk songs) once again, driving beat, heavy bassline. (i play bass guitar so i love a song w an interesting bass part) i think shows resilience as well as grounding - imo he’s always been one of the more mature / level-headed creeps, to the point he’s very self aware. this man knows exactly what he’s doing at all times. ‘somewhere far away i can hear your call’ even in the future when he thinks he’s escaped from slender he knows deep down he’ll never be truly free…. yes ok
keep myself alive by get scared for jane. she’s so angry - AS SHE SHOULD BE and i feel it’s just a audible version of her rage. ‘i just wanna leave this place behind / everytime i see your face in mine’ because her and jeff have the same burned face thing going on…….. ough. she can never escape from the man who ruined her life. the guitar shifting from this melancholy, reverb-y tone in the verses to the loud distortion in the chorus reflecting her mood shifting from self-pity to raw anger
bonus: class of 2013 by mitski x toby
i should rlly make a playlist for each creep but i use musi not spotify 💔
- 🌙 anon
sorry for making u read all of this ❤️
anon. oh my god. i need you to know how often i think about this ask. and how guilty i feel knowing i shouldve responded forever ago but kept putting it off. im going to respond now with shame. thank you so much for your patience. my god
when memories snow for tim is soooo real. i associate him with a longing for life before slendy, while also repressing it cuz it hurts knowing itll never ever come back. going to bars, hanging out in his friends apartments, going to class, late night driving... "I shovel all those memories, clear the path to drive to the store" i think even the imagery of him shoveling snow out of a driveway gives off that sort of strong, cold idea of him. and 'drive to the store' obv being...proxy work... SO SAD
ALSO FUCK NINAKATE MENTION IM IN TEARS ok listen. theyre both really bad. and i super agree that kate might be a bit deceptive and manipulative (intentionally or not) cuz she wants nina to completely remove jeff and take his place (NOT HIS ROLE, just his place in ninas arms). also "how long will it take before you start to hate yourself and go straight to the arms of someone else" i think its undeniable that ninas obsession with romance is related to her own self image, and kate doesnt really like herself that much either. "im not saying that you love me, im not saying anything" OHH BUT SHE WANTS NINA SOOO BAD... man.
also im absolutely in love with how you take the sound itself into account, not just lyrics. the way you explain the wolf connecting to brians determination, reslience, and grounding presense is SOOO PERFECT and i can see it in the first few lyrics as well. the also "sneaking in the pain, every truth becomes lie / i wont trust myself once i hear your call" THATS TIM AND BRIAN COME ON GUYS DO YOU HEAR THIS
also i love keep myself alive. i heavily agree she has every right to be angry, and thats a core part of her character - rage, grief, strength. "to sleep i of course think i'm stronger now / to sleep i gotta catch myself" im crying. the sleep menton + she feels alone. she has a support system, a literal wife, but she still holds all of her grief on her own shoulders. who the fuck else can relate to being violently stalked for months, walking in on your parents being tortured together, being attacked, nearly burnt alive, then LOSING your parents? also "how could this dark cloud make me stronger now" i think a lot of people would have told her that her experience made her a survivor and made her strong and whatnot. but i dont think she feels that way. i think she feels like a victim, she feels tortured, she feels like that same little girl who'd sleep in her parents bed after a nightmare - but this isnt a nightmare she can wake up from. her parents bed burnt to ashes. there is relief in just letting yourself grieve and hurt - but she's so beyond focused on being strong. and it doesnt make sense to her. doesnt make sense how she can be strong after all of that . but she is, cuz she has to be
ALSO YES OH MY FUCKING GOD CLASS OF 2013 DFUCK FUCKFUCKF FIFJF FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKK i dont even need to explain why this gets me. yall already know. my god

(Part 1) Hello! I don't know if you've already read this but another thing to add to your "Why would John Oliver return to british television"-box. According to the Guardian "...Oliver’s The Last Week Tonight host’s presence on the show is one the band members are still in disbelief about (at one point he even stands in for Collier on bass, and looks quite a natural)." Persuading other people to appear was not so easy, and the sheer silliness of what they might be asked to do... put off a few".
(Part 2) which seem to suggest that the reason he chose to take part in the show have nothing to do with a personal connection to the Horne Section, as they seem as mystified as anyone else as to why he agreed to do their show. Anyway, being a frequent lurker on your tumblr I thought you might find it interesting! :)
So I was planning just briefly glance at Tumblr before returning to the work I'm supposed to be doing, but obviously I can't read a message like that without finding and reading the article in question. So here that is, for anyone else who wants to read it:
There's a lot in there, including a much clearer picture of what the show actually is than I had before. It makes me look forward to this show overall more than I was before. I wasn't sure if it was sort of semi-scripted or not, but this confirms that it's completely scripted, a sitcom with a meta premise rather than a chat show with some fictionalized bits. I'm pleased about that, because I'm not hugely interested in a variety show or chat show with mainly non-comedian celebrities talking about whatever, but I do love a good sitcom with a meta premise. So it looks like of all my initial guesses as to what it is, the closest was Knowing Me Knowing You but we also see behind the scenes of how it got made and commissioned. I like it.
On the specific issue discussed in this message and of interest to me... absolutely baffling. I mean, I realize most people who do TV shows do them for many reasons that don't involve some personal connection to the people who made it. But John Oliver doesn't, not for years. So that was my best guess as to why he'd signed on to this, maybe he had some connection to Alex and wanted to help. Because he doesn't seem to have the time or inclination to do much of anything besides Last Week Tonight these days, and he's made it clear for fifteen years that impressing British audiences went very badly for him the first time and he never wants to try it again (I did recently find an old bit of internet that confirms this, he's not kidding, they didn't like him). And he's in a position where he has no financial or just career advancement-based need to do anything he doesn't want to do.
So the mystery continues. Possibly not the greatest mystery of our entire age, but it's the one keeping me awake at night because all the reality-based ones are terrible. Having said that, thank you so much for the message! I didn't know an article on the show had come out today, it was an interesting read and I appreciate you drawing my attention to it! Also, I continue to appreciate the fact that some people in the world see John Oliver + Britcom news and think, "I must inform Tumblr user Tellthemeerkatsitsfine, these are Things She Wants To Know." You're right, I do want to know this.
I remain baffled, and distracted, as I have to actually go work now. I hope you're very well!

for the musi c ask game 5, 10, & 15
Ooh, this ended up being rather fun. Got to trawl through some of my favorite music for this :3
For this ask game
5: A song that needs to be played LOUD
Not exactly a song, but one of the first things I thought of was "Here comes Meliodas" from Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light. I haven't even watched the movie yet (mostly because I haven't finished the anime, because the last two seasons of the anime are terrible, but anyway) but the music is just so damn good I turn up the sound (and the bass) every single time it comes on. Very stimmy, too.
10: A song that makes you sad
"Welly Boots" by The Amazing Devil. This is a bit of an odd answer, in that it doesn't make me sad for any kind of personal experience. It makes me sad because I associate it with an OC, Mavwin. More specifically, I associate it with her father, who fucked up badly, and in doing so fucked things up for his people, his kids, and Mavwin in particular. I view the song as being from his point of view in the afterlife, after he dies due to his screw-ups, watching his beloved daughter suffer for his mistakes and begging her to survive and make it through to a happy ending.
15: A song that is a cover by another artist
I'm fond of "Come Little Children" by Erutan. I'm pretty sure I originally heard it in what I think was a Final Fantasy AMV, except I had No Goddamn Idea what Final Fantasy was, so I didn't know what I was looking at and only realized it was probably Final Fantasy like. As I was typing this, actually. I later found it again via this excellent My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan animation and fell in love with it. I ended up singing it as a lullaby for infants over the years.
Thanks for the ask!

This Week’s Horrible-Scopes
It’s time for this week’s Horrible-Scopes! So for those of you that know your Astrological Signs, cool! If not, just pick one, roll a D12, or just make it up as you go along. It really doesn’t matter. Better yet! Check out “Heart of the Game, Fredonia” and see if they can sell you those D12’s with the symbols on them. Tell them “Shujin Tribble” sentcha. And “Hail, Hail, Fredonia!” Home of the Blue Devil!
Under the gun and ready to rock. Let’s have a little fun with the Potpourri category for 500 please, LeVar Burton. YES! We’re salty about it! LeVar SHOULD have been selected as the permanent replacement host on Jeopardy. But since he’s not… let’s see what this category has for you all.
Aries
You’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do with your musical taste! You get your toes tappin’ to “Bugle Call Rag” as performed by Doc Severinsen & The Tonight Show Band in 1991… but the song was originally recorded in 1922! How the HELL do you like Big Band Jazz this much and STILL have Ariana Grande in that same playlist!? This Week… Add some Molly Hatchet to your musical collection. It’ll be fun for just the album artwork alone.
Taurus
The Devil’s come looking for you while you were out gassing up your car. Something about collecting on a promise from when you were in high school - something about playing the bass in a band and getting respect! He looked pretty disappointed, too. So This Week… Seeing as how it’s a natural law of the Universe that Bass Players never get respected, it’s likely that The Devil owes YOU some recompense. Either that or he’s going to talk to you about your car’s extended warranty.
Gemini
Speaking of school, how about your checkered history with the principal at your high school? He was a nice enough person, always well spoken, always supported you kids, and made it to at least ONE event for every group he could every year. And what did you do? You organized a Prank on him. How you managed to build a giant Christmas Present Box around his car is still a mystery to this day - and it’s still spoken about as a Revered Legend to this day. So This Week… He knew it was you - all those security cameras didn’t lie. But he hid the information from the authorities just so you wouldn’t get in trouble. Remember that as you plan for your next April Fool’s Day Prank.
Cancer Moon-Child
What do you get when you mix a Fender Rhodes, a Fender Precision Bass, a Fender Stratocaster, and a single, repeated, 8-Bar Riff? You get FUNK! You get so dirty, naughty, grindy FUNK to listen to. But you don’t want to just listen, you want to play, don’t you? Yeah, we know how much you miss writing music and playing in that just-starting-out band with the funky bass player and the trumpet wacko. Why did you leave the band just as they were getting big? We’re really trying to understand your motivations there. So This Week… Look up the biggest Zydeco Bands of the Early 21st Century and feel sorry for yourself at how high they’re on that list.
Leo
Time to plan your next vacation - but with a twist. Sure, it’s fun to take a flight from New York City’s Laguardia Airport to England’s Gatwick Airport, but let’s do something more fun… TAKE A CRUISE! Sure, instead of an 8 hour trip it’ll be more like a week, one way… but HEY! You can get up all you want, eat when you want to, use a private bathroom, and take a swim mid-trip! So This Week… Consider splurging for your trip for once! And remember, WIFI plans start at only $18 per day. So plan your trip on the Queen Mary 2 NOW!
Virgo
Your music collection is for crap. NO, SERIOUSLY! Just because it’s complete doesn’t mean it’s good. Sure, you’ve got all EIGHTEEN albums put out by That One Artist, but he’s only ever had like 8 Top-40 Singles, and four of them were all from the FIRST album. Buying all those records didn’t support them - all that money went to the record companies. So This Week… He’s on social Media. Look him up and send him a message of thanks for the music you enjoyed. Maybe he’ll write a song just for you too!
Libra
You’re going to be headed out with your friends and have a GREAT time doing something you’ve always wanted to try doing; Prix Fixe! Yes, we talked about this on a previous Horrible-Scope, and that’s where you got the idea from. Let’s get you ready to finally take advantage of this fun culinary adventure, even if the cost will be an indulgence. So This Week… Spend a little money on a properly fitted suit so you look classy for this dinner. It’ll be worth it.
Scorpio
One of the things you miss is getting pecans, scooped from under a heat lamp, and poured into a wax-paper bag! Munching them on the drive home and having almost none left once you get there was so much fun for you… but now you’ve finally learned you have an allergy to them. Truly… TRULY a sad thing to know. BUT, it finally explains why it got harder and harder to eat them as the drive progressed. So This Week… Invest in some antihistamines so you can enjoy long drives with warm, succulent nuts in your mouth again. (*PAUSE*) We know what you’re thinking! You should be ashamed of yourselves!
Sagittarius
No one else knows about this, but WE do, and we’re spilling the beans. Your favorite superhero is… Wonder Woman! And not just ANY Wonder Woman, but the first live-action version with Cathy Lee Crosby and Ricardo Montalban. You think no-one remembers that clunker, but WE do! And, really, we have no idea WHY you like that one; though Ricardo Mantalban just makes everything an Instant WIN in our book. So This Week… You don’t want us to talk about your Secret Bondage Fetish, DO you? Ok. We won’t.
Capricorn
We know you enjoy doing cross-mixing websites, but you’re really pushing your luck. Mix-n-Matching PokeMon into weird abominations is fun for kicks, but you’re trying to turn them into personalized CCG cards and sneaking them into overnight games, trying to beat all the coffee-guzzling young adults… and heaven help us, you’ve actually managed to do it a few times! So This Week… Remember, “Exodia” is NOT a PokeMon card character! STOP SCREWING WITH THE KIDDIES! You gunna get some Bad Ju-Ju that way.
Aquarius
We’re not going to Tech Shame you here, but we kinda have to. Just because you have a Hand-Held Ham Radio, a “Where’s The International Space Station” tracking app on your phone, and a big-open sky doesn’t mean you can take over the ISS’ computers and hold them hostage! Your dreams of being an Evil Mad Scientist are just not going to manifest… because the ISS Laptops are running a specialized version of Debian Linux - so you’re screwed since you can’t hack those machines. So This Week… Find some eMachines from 1998 and load ‘em up with Mandriva Linux, or at least TRY to. THAT’LL make you mad REAL fast!
Pisces
It’s That Time Again! It’s time for you to start getting ready for the summer - meaning dieting so you fit into your swimsuit again. NO, we’re not Body Shaming you for your size! We’re shaming you for refusing to buy a new swimsuit! Look, that suit’s survived Hurricane Gloria, fer crying out loud! It’s time to just retire it and stop patching it everytime it splits a seam. So This Week… If you’re not gunna buy a new suit, then make some proper cut offs. They’re ALWAYS in fashion.
And THOSE are your Horrible-Scopes for this week! Remember if you liked what you got, we’re obviously not working hard enough at these. BUT! If you want a better or nastier one for your own sign or someone else’s, all you need to do to bribe me is just Let Me Know - or check out the Ko-Fi page ( https://ko-fi.com/icarusthelunarguard )! These will be posted online at the end of each week via Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Discord, and BLUESKY.

Was listening to Zomboy tonight after many years of missing out on his new stuff. I listened to his music from his Game Time, Nuclear (Hands Up), and Mind Control eras. But fell off listening as my music tastes shifted toward more future bass and vaporwave (still favorite genres).
I found a playlist on Musi of his "top" hits and noticed I havent heard of (and maybe even cant remember) half of them. So even tho was searching for a more nostalgic and familar sound, I enjoyed hearing his style in his older music, which, to me, is all new. C o o l!!! Some songs I found nice were Bad Intentions and Lights Out.
However dandy this trip down memory lane was, when I got to Terror Squad in this playlist, I was weirded out by how much it sounded like a Skrillex song I knew (sometimes the titles of songs escape me lol). It was itching my brain so bad that I had to go to the internet to see which one cameout F I R S T, since i knew beyond a resonable doubt they had to be inspired by each other or something lol.
I found this Genious article about it and this relieved me a lot.
"Yea thats exactly the song!" <- the gist of how I felt knowing they sounded analogous to S O M E B O D Y else lol.
Tumblr media
This part suprised me tho . . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Youve think theyd have beef since their songs were so similar and apparently released the same yr ? ? (Tho I was suprised to see Skrillex's "version" came out first lol). But despite the fans' reactions, they were both cool about it all, and Zomboy himself needed to clear up confusion publically.
I was too young and disinterested in artist profiles at the age I was curating (and settling) my tastes for Zomboy's jams, so this was all lost on me. Perhaps for the better lol. I was occupied in 2013 with Skrillex's debut album and how . . . different it was, let alone him coming out from radio silent hiatus tbat felt like years lol.
Very cool music history stuff. Anyway I do like how similar they are now thats its clear to me the songs' eerie similarities were apparently coincidences (or not idk. Lol I didnt look t h a t deeply into it all). I enjoy remixes a lot for their creative spins on rhythmic motifs, so Zomboy's version, for me, is like hearing a remix of Skrillex's mix. It scratches my brain just right with the irony of how its a completely new song for me yet its terribly nostalgic bc of how much it sounds like All Is Fair Love . . .
I prefer All Is Fair Love because I like the more complex rhythm's in it and also bc its just the one I heard first l o l, so it's grown on me. But def a nice duo of songs. Theyre like butterfly wings. Very similar on both sides in form and color, but not quite exactly the same. Or better yet, like a butterfly's wing where the inside is one color, and the outside a different one; the shape of the wing is the same but the forms of the patterns are different. Idk l o l.
What a coincidence, indeed!!!!

What String Instruments Come Under Music Insurance?
String instruments are beloved for their melodic tones and rich history in music. From classical orchestras to contemporary bands, their unique sound reverberates across musical genres. However, these instruments are not just musically precious; they often hold significant monetary and sentimental value.
To safeguard against unexpected damage or loss, a string instrument insurance plan is essential for musicians and collectors alike.
Understanding String Instrument Insurance
String instrument insurance covers a wide range of instruments, including but not limited to the following:
Violin: This iconic instrument, known for its sweet, versatile sound, is a staple in classical music and various other genres.
Viola: Slightly larger than the violin, the viola produces a warmer and deeper tone, often providing harmony in orchestral arrangements.
Cello: With its deep and resonant sound, the cello adds depth and richness to orchestral compositions and solo performances.
Double Bass: The largest string instrument, the double bass, provides the foundation of the orchestra's sound with its deep, low tones.
Guitar: Ranging from classical to electric, guitars are versatile instruments used in various music styles, from classical and folk to rock and jazz.
Harp: Known for its ethereal and angelic sound, the harp adds a magical quality to orchestras and solo performances.
Tumblr media
Importance of String Instrument Insurance
For musicians and collectors, these instruments are not just tools or possessions; they often carry emotional and historical significance. Beyond their monetary value, they may hold touching attachments, passed down through generations or acquired after years of dedication.
A dedicated musical instrument insurance protects against various risks that go beyond your emotions and love for the gear:
Damage: Accidents happen, and instruments can sustain damage from falls, bumps, or mishandling during travel or performances.
Theft: Instruments are often targeted due to their high value. String instrument insurance offers coverage in case of theft.
Loss: Losing a cherished instrument is devastating. Insurance can provide financial compensation for the loss, helping to acquire a replacement.
Choosing the Right Insurance Coverage
When selecting a string instrument insurance policy, musicians and collectors should consider several factors to get the right coverage. These factors include the following:
Coverage Limits: Ensure the policy covers the complete value of the instrument(s) in case of damage, theft, or loss.
Deductibles: Understand the deductible amount - the initial out-of-pocket expense before insurance coverage begins. So, you need to be careful about the same.
Coverage Details: Read the policy thoroughly to understand what is covered and any exclusions or limitations. Knowing this is crucial.
Additional Coverage: Some policies may offer coverage for accessories, such as bows, cases, or other essential equipment.
Tips for Maintaining String Instruments
While insurance provides financial protection, proper care, and maintenance can prevent damage or loss:
Storage: Keep instruments in a controlled environment, away from extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
Regular Maintenance: Schedule regular check-ups with a luthier or instrument technician to ensure the instrument remains in optimal condition. It is a machine at the end of the day. Right? So, you should make sure it is well-maintained.
Safe Handling: Handle instruments with care, especially during transportation or performances.
Quality Cases: Invest in high-quality cases or gig bags to protect instruments during travel. It will keep your gear safe throughout your journey.
Conclusion
String instruments hold a special place in music, offering captivating melodies and emotional depth to compositions. Whether it's a centuries-old violin or a modern electric guitar, these instruments deserve protection. Standalone musical instrument insurance offers peace of mind, ensuring that in the unfortunate event of damage, theft, or loss, musicians and collectors can repair, replace, or recover their prized possessions.
Musicians invest not only money but also their passion and dedication into their instruments. Dedicated coverage serves as a safety net, preserving the legacy and musical journey these instruments represent. By choosing the right coverage and maintaining diligent care, musicians can continue creating beautiful melodies without worrying about the safety of their beloved instruments.
