Just finished grinding Assassin's Creed Mirage! WOOHOO! ୧( ಠ Д ಠ )୨
Tumblr media
I think it's a deffo wonderful game and a refreshment after the RPG trilogy (it does have RPG elements to it, but still), and it also have some things that are lacking. It reminds me of the good 'ol days, but deffo not on par with the good 'ol days.
Here're some of my thoughts and reviews!
🕌 Sleepy's Assassin's Creed Mirage Review 🗡️
(Spoiler Warning ⚠️ Including the ending ⚠️)
Disclaimer, this is just my personal opinion. You may agree and disagree. I’m just gonna talk a lot because I LOVE Assassin’s Creed with all my heart. Here goes.
VISUALS
(+) Basim Ibn Ishaq, the handsome man that you are… HOLY SHIT (yes I’m adding him as the first plus point of this game what of it). Man's fine AF.
(+) Baghdad’s really beautiful, nuff said. The color palette is PERFECT - displays the warmth of the atmosphere really well, but also just enough greens and many starking hues of flowers.
(+) The waters and environment textures are CRISPY.  The detailed patterns on the clothes, the engravings and the state of the arts is really cool. I haven’t really looked a lot into the 800’ Baghdad arts, but I can see lots of good details and art styles. SHOUT OUT TO THE ARTISTS!!
GAMEPLAY - Now here’s what I have a lot to comment on.
(+) Stealth -> I think they did quite good with the stealth. One of the many complaints that I saw on the previous RPG trilogy games was the fact that the main characters/players had no reason to be stealthy, because they can just barge in and defeat the enemies easily. Ubi has marketed the game to be more stealth focused and intentionally made Basim a less of a fighter (make sense, since he came from a thief background, unlike Bayek, Kassandra, and Eivor who are actual trained warriors since they’re kids). However, this brings me to the first lacking point.
(-) Combat -> The combat feels janky. I feel like I’m really fucked up in combat situations if I don’t upgrade my sword and dagger. Like I get it, Basim is not meant to be much of a fighter, but in the beginning parts (or… even the middle parts of the game, let’s be real), I feel like combat is HELL. I forgot the Youtuber who said it, but he said something along the lines of “I’m an assassin, I want to feel like an assassin and want to feel like a badass and can take down many enemies with ease.” And that actually rings true with me. When I’m in combat and countless soldiers are fighting or following me (and I don’t have the smoke bomb with the forgetting effect), I’m most certainly FUCKED.
(+) The fighting style is cool though, it's stylish and the finishing moves are sick af. It could deffo use some work.
(-+) Parkour/Movements - It’s alright. It’s most certainly better than the previous RPG trilogy, but it’s definitely not Unity or Syndicate. Sometimes Basim can do something that I didn’t want and I’ve lost count on how many times I got caught and died just from a mis-movement. I literally don’t understand why they don’t use the Unity parkours and combat styles. Unity’s parkour is smooth, swift, and stylish. It feels GOOD.
(+) Stealing - I’m a loot goblin in games, and believe me, I think I’ve spent like hours just stealing from the entire population of Baghdad that by the end of the game I’m probably richer than the Taxmaster and the whole entire Abbasid Caliphate. It’s fun, it’s easy, but it can sometimes be hard enough to miss. I just hope there’s more variety/difficulty in the stealings in different places – Like maybe in the Round City the diamond thingy is much smaller, or in like for stealing merchants (who has particular fashion/silhouette or have wallets/pouches with different colors) can be harder to steal from but have more rewards and money.
(-+) Map - OKAY. I love the fact that Mirage has a significantly smaller map than that of Odyssey and Valhalla. It’s focused and it’s much more centered. HOWEVER. For a game this caliber, and with this good of a graphic? It’s much too small and it’s too divided between two parts. Hear me out – The graphics are really cool, but I feel like the map is too divided between – either a densely populated city, or just barren lands of desert. I think the map could be much much bigger with much more collectibles and much more variety in the terrains. Like, for example in Black Flag (The S tier game. Argue with a wall), there’re more than one major city, while in Mirage the map is so very centered (Yes I get it it’s the Round City), but I’d love it if there’s another major city that we can travel to, like Damascus, for instace. + I love the Tales of Baghdad. MORE TALES OF BAGHDAD PLEASE.
STORY - nOW THIS… I never liked the stories post - Origins and here's why :
(-) LET 👏 THE ACTORS 👏 DO 👏 MOTION 👏 CAPTURE 👏 - My biggest complaint for the RPG game styles is always about the facial and motion animation. The cutscenes feel DEAD. The eyes are DEAD. I almost can't feel anything. Ubi is rich af, why not use facial capturing? AC3 was the first AC game to use motion capture, and holy shit… it's one of my fave games. Yes. All games, not only AC series. The emotion in their faces, the gestures, the small glances, the little movements - they all decide every character's personality. The reason why I love every AC since AC3-ACOrigins is because the actors pour all their voices, faces, even body movements into the interactions between characters, because they make the stories feel alive. Let the actors be actors. I can rant more but this is already a long post so I'll stop. MOTION 👏 CAPTURE 👏.
(+) I love Basim's origin story. Dude's a 17 year old street thief who got a bit over his head and ended up becoming a fugitive because he killed the fucking caliph himself. That was crazy HAHAHAH anyway even though I think the beginning felt a bit rushed I love it. I just wish they could milk it more.
(+) I love the side characters! Especially Ali (I think he's hot 👉👈 and he's the absolute freedom fighter). Anyway, even though they don’t really do much, they all feel alive and do lots of things (except Roshan prolly HAHAHAH but there's a reason I guess)
(+) Roshan. Mentor and reminds me of Al-Mualim. I particularly love the fact that after all that wise words throughout the game, she literally threatened Basim if he actually went to the underground temple. And when she showed up covered in blood??? And THE TWIST AT THE END??? "Roshan bint La-Ahad". SHE'S ALTAIR'S ANCESTOR. THAT FUCKING SHOCKED ME YOOOO. She's just amazing.
(-) Pacing - I feel like this is because they’re speeding things up (which is a good thing), the pacing is pretty standard in the beginning, but the ending is a bit too high of a rollercoaster mount. The ending went from 0-100 real quick. I feel like we need a more of a climbing storyline. This is why I kind of don’t agree with the ‘centering’ storyline instead of a linear story. Centering styles of story has no climb in the intensity, and because of that we can’t feel the character developments because he’s supposed to stay the same even though we’ve killed like 3 bosses already. And then when all the underlings are dead, finally the boss racks up Basim’s curiosity super duper high that it becomes too sudden.
(-) Weak Villains - The villains since Origins are always hidden and unknown, unlike the previous games where the Templars are literally KNOWN by the people. I want more villains like Haytham tbh, where he literally doesn’t care about the precusor sites and only wants stability in his reign as a Grandmaster. Or if the villains do care about the Pieces of Eden or have a prior interest of the First Civ, at least let them have an actual personality and character, let them be a menace and a threat since the beginning of the game instead of being the NPC’s we kill to finish the game. Let them challenge our beliefs as an Assassin/Hidden Ones. Let the villains actually have an impact to the main storyline. Imagine in the end Basim and Qabiha really went to the underground temple together, and got confronted by Roshan. That’s where the conflict in Basim climaxed! Imagine the emotion! The drama~!
(+) How the stories interlinked with Valhalla. Basim is a sage, and host of Loki who sought revenge to Odin (who wronged him). So I don't think Basim nor Loki are evil per se. They're just gray. Now the stories aren't just about Templars vs Assassin, it's more focused towards the First Civilization. It's a bit hard to keep up but it's nothing a bit of reading/looking up some lore videos wouldn't solve.
MISC
We need more outfits! The outfits are far too few for us to choose from!
Wonderful and mystifying music. Nuff said. Brendan Angelides and Layth Sidiq nailed it. One Republic and Mishaal Tamer’s “Mirage” in on repeat on my Spotify right now.
I love gear chests hunting and all the collectibles. I just wish the map is bigger and there’re more collectibles T_T I’M A LOOT GOBLIN OKAY.
I learn history of Baghdad LFG. I play largely for the stories and not the gameplays, so if there’s a codex entry or any new historical sites I always read it. Learning history doesn’t hurt!
How I can really relate to the real world. I live in Indonesia where 90% of the people is Muslim (I’m a Christian), so when I here familiar words like Alhamdullilah, Assalam’ualaikum and Wa’alaikumsalam, or see the people praying, the Adzan sounds throughout the city, the people praying towards the Ka’bah, it kinda feels like home! Just hope that they add more funny shit to it though, like “Yaallah Basim! Istighfar!” Or “WALLAHI.” Or more Arabic sayings so we can immerse more to the world.
MAKE BASIM DO THE 5 PRAYERS (maybe when we pass time or after a big mission we come back to him finishing a prayer).
FINAL VERDICT - 7.8/10 -> It’s a focused game, and it really did come back to some of the original elements of AC before the RPG trilogy. It’s not too long and casuals can play it without feeling like we have to grind like Odyssey or Valhalla. Deffo would recommend playing it!
Once again, BRING BACK MOTION CAPTURE ‼️‼️‼️🗣️🗣️
If you did play it gimme some thoughts in the comments! Thank you for reading! (人*´∀`)。*゚+

My friends and I have been discussing how poorly designed/balanced the Warden is in MC and not only have we come up with several different ways to fix it but we've also concluded that Mojang is just utterly shit at balancing their game. Look at end city loot compared to other structures that are even harder to conquer, or how pigs are almost completely irrelevant for farming if you have any other passive mob, or the fact that invisibility potions are completely worthless because they don't work at ALL. I found that last one out the hard way and lost half a month's worth of gear from Mojang's incompetence. They seriously need to get their shit together.
I think loot from structures in Minecraft is somewhat intentionally under-powered, because the game is about building and exploring and farming and the lion's share of your resources are meant to come from your own gathering and farming activities. However you're definitely right.
For example, bastion remnants have really good loot and are relatively common; I've gone on trips into the Nether where I found and cleared more than one in the course of a single trip.
Meanwhile, woodland mansions are vanishingly rare and the valuable rooms may not generate at all. You could have to travel tens of thousands of blocks to get nothing but a bunch of wool and books.
Jungle pyramids are the ones I hate the most, they never have anything worth it in the chests.
But...ancient cities. I love the atmosphere and gameplay experience of the ancient cities, but they really unbalance the game in a lot of ways.
They have more and better loot than basically any other structure in the game, they can be cleared with nothing but skill, no armor or weapons of note needed. I think they USUALLY are a rare find, but this is the trouble with the procedurally-generated nature of the game; I've found multiple seeds with ancient cities directly under spawn, and multiple seeds with two ancient cities within ~250 blocks of spawn.
I think the mechanics and everything of the Warden are very well thought out and I deeply, deeply appreciate how you don't really have to risk the Warden if you are slow and cautious enough.
I complained lots about the Warden, but in hindsight the complaints had more to do with the Warden being prioritized at the expense of everything else and less to do with the Warden itself. We have to admit that the Warden is much better than lots of other hostile mobs in the game. Ghasts have too-small, janky hitboxes and can shoot you with fireballs from OUTSIDE RENDER DISTANCE. The Warden is a huge improvement in that you can prevent summoning him by being careful.
Also, recent updates have been fixing some of the most egregious issues with balancing. Before Caves and Cliffs, clay generated exclusively as small patches on the bottom of lakes and rivers and until the Wild Update it was not renewable. You had to intensively farm vines to get mossy cobblestone. I've only been playing since just after Village and Pillage and I Remember
Metal ores have only been affected by Fortune since 1.17!!!! Before that you had to mine stacks and stacks of ore blocks! Before axolotls were added, tropical fish existed and were completely useless!! Minecraft olds can tell you more.

So my understanding is Pixar’s “Lightyear” is supposed to be the movie within the world of Andy, and watching it made him want the Buzz Lightyear toy.
But then they also tried to make it a serious movie??  With comedy, sure. But it doesn’t feel like a kids movie from the mid-90s, which is when Toy Story is set.  What’s with the muted color palette?  Where’s the neon, huh?  The random geometric shapes?
Buzz Lightyear, the toy, does not look like he came from a serious Star Wars type movie.  He looks like a toy company SAW Star Wars and made a knock-off Saturday morning cartoon to sell toys.  And I think they could’ve done something interesting and funny and meta with that.
Tumblr media
Also, Buzz Lightyear’s media in the Toy Story universe is clearly 2D.  All the posters of him in Andy’s room are in 2D, he’s 2D on the bedsheet, etc.  I don’t mind retconning if it improves things, but Realistic 3D Human Man Buzz is unsettling; I don’t like looking at him.
However, if they REALLY wanted to make him 3D they should’ve shown Andy watching the movie (on VHS of course), which should have intentionally janky CGI.   Imagine Andy reverently saying “He looks sooo real!” as Buzz clips through scenery and does that awkward early-CGI picking-things-up animation where items magnetically stick to his hands.

I inbox you the following: I must know what compels you about Link. I trust that he is Good and Excellent, but I simply yearn for an essay on what little niche trait makes you wanna fandom the fuck out of this little guy. 5-10 paragraphs of hyper fixated ramblings preferred, but not required.
ohhh starkid you've given me A GIFT. a GIFT.
So some background first, I think. I've always liked the Zelda games, in the way you play a mainstream game and are like "yeah that was good!" I played Ocarina of Time and Windwaker as a kid. I played Breath of the Wild when it first came out and had a fun time with it. Yeah. Good games! Fun mechanics. Characters seem a little flat, but they aren't why I'm here. What was the story again? Oh, right---yeah, they gave Zelda an actual personality that doesn't start and end with "princess" in the new one! She's a scientist! How neat.
Then Tears of the Kingdom comes out. I've just gotten a Steam Deck for my birthday and wow, turns out you can emulate TOTK already?? I try it out immediately. It's janky, but I love messing with emulators, so I keep going. I certainly don't have the cash to buy TOTK properly.
And in TOTK, for me, it starts with Zelda. It starts with this young woman barely out of her teens being flung into a horrible, frightening situation, and being forced to make an absolutely terrifying choice. And it turns out if you start looking at her more closely, that choice only becomes more and more viscerally upsetting as you incorporate things about her from the previous game.
It got me invested, and I still adore Zelda. I could probably write just as long a deliberation about her. But we're talking about Link.
I read a little bit of BOTW fanfic back when it first came out. It was almost all Sidon/Link stuff, because I liked the ship for a number of reasons, and one evening after another night of mainlining TOTK I decide to go look and see if I can find some that I remembered being good. I did, and they were still mostly good! But there was one in particular, with one line in particular. "You're Always Almost There," by Polyhexian. (On mobile so no link, sorry!)
'One hundred years ago,’ Link signed, 'A Guardian shot me through the chest,’ he grimaced as if in pain from even mentioning it, 'I died with everyone else, and then someone else decided to bring me, and only me, back to life to fix everything, to save everyone. I have to stop the Calamity. I have to save Hyrule. I have to fix the world. I am not a real person. I am everyone’s unfinished business.’
I had read it before. When I read it this time I closed my browser, opened Typora, and started writing. It wasn't more than a random narrative sifting through half collected ideas, and I neither finished nor posted it, but it got me started. A few weeks later I started writing To Be Well, which among other things directly addresses the idea that Link does not think of himself as a "real person"---and that he isn't sure if he wants to.
As I've written him, I've found more and more about him and his setting that fascinates me. Part of this is certainly that Link is intentionally designed as a "placeholder" character (word of God is he was deliberately designed to be androgynous to make it easier for more people to project on him). At first I was really fascinated by his relationship with Zelda, and wanted to look at that through a queerplatonic lens. In doing that I found myself trying to work through some problems of my own, which it turns out is just how I write fanfiction I guess: projecting! Huzzah! I decided to lean into it, and wrote "You do not have to be good," which is a story that takes some liberties with the canon to explore the subject of toxic purity and the toll it takes. Also, the logistics of kissing someone with a beak.
What makes Link compelling to me is ... what do you do, when you aren't allowed to be a person? What do you do when you've been told all your life things are like this and this and this, and that you must behave thusly?  What if you learn it was never true? How do you go from "perfect" to "real"? What does it even mean, being a person? How do you start? Is it even worth it?
I feel like I'm only scratching the surface, haha. I also love Link for whatever the hell he's doing with gender, and I've been having an absolute blast writing him as predominantly communicating via sign language. I'm playing fast and loose with a lot of things that only get half-mentioned in canon, and having a good old time playing in the sandbox of Hyrule. They're huge games and there's a lot of space for me to set up shop!

TW: Mentions of physical and mental abuse, mentions of blood, dub-con(?), male reader, manipulative behavior, connections to drugs and drug abuse.
******
Jennie Kim was like a drug that you inhaled and injected only for a short period of time for a quick spark of pleasure, then discarded after and forgotten about. That’s what it was initially supposed to be like.
But that was the problem. She was a drug: toxic, deadly, and addictive. She made your head hurt and your heart bleed, yet she is the sole reason it beats—for better or worse, you aren’t sure.
You knew what she was, how she was, and while it sickened you, you still indulged in her comfort, sought out her touch, or squirmed underneath her as she carves into your skin as she whispers sweet nothings into your ear while doing so. But the fact that you don’t know—or intentionally ignore—her blatant manipulation is your fault. And no one else can help you with it.
Taking Jennie Kim like a drug is not what you intended to do. But it happened anyway.
She calls you when you’re worn out, marks you when you’re around. You don’t know what Jennie gains from this or why she does it, aside from her batshit craziness to keep you as hers forever.
You’ve wanted so hard to escape, but the thought of her always seeps back into your veins. And you always come back to Jennie, becoming more entrenched into her sadistic manipulations.
She fills the void that she created, takes a piece of you with her every time, forces you to stay when you beg to leave. It’s a repetitive cycle, one that you’ve grown accustomed to, one that makes you don’t know any better.
She’s a burden as much as she is a drug, dressed head to toe in black. You’ve only seen her wear black, never any color, from her janky leather jacket to her black converse sneakers. And you think it makes sense that a person as cold as her would wear something so stripped of brightness.
“What are you doing here?” you question her as you miserably fail to keep your voice from shaking in fear. The sight of Jennie standing at your doorway proves to be way too intense for you.
“You always look so afraid, Y/N-nnie,” she amusingly says as she pushes herself inside, shrugging off her jacket on your couch. If your entire apartment didn’t already smell like her, then the couch for sure will. And you fear that soon the bed will as well, since Jennie doesn’t come to your apartment just to talk. “I’m always here, remember?” she smirks devilishly.
Her vigorous gaze causes you to avert your eyes. Jennie’s stare has always unsettled you. And now, she becomes this mysterious and terrifying creature that you have ever encountered. She’s no longer like a drug, she is an enigma that is worse and manages to keep you wrapped around her finger.
“Please leave,” you silently mutter as you lower your gaze as you look at the floor.
“No.” Her tone is as stern as it usually is as she extends her hand and clasps your jaw, simultaneously lifting your chin to have your eyes meet hers while she pulls you up to her. Her long nails dig into your skin and her feline eyes are wide with excitement. And it is never a good sign for you.
Yet she loosens her grip in the slightest when your bottom lip threatens to tremble. For some odd, bizarre reason, her nurturing side seems to seep out at the wrong, worst times. You don’t think Jennie can help it. But even if she is a monster, you desperately hope that she still has a heart lying around, somewhere.
“Jennie,” you breathe out once more. Her pupils flicker down to your lips. “We’re over. I told you this already. You know this. I don’t want to keep doing this.” Her thumb caresses your lips for a moment as her hand moves from your jaw down to your neck as she gently grasps it and pulls your head closer to hers, too close for your comfort as you feel her breath hit your lips as her other hand now toys with the end of your shirt.
She seemingly ignores everything that you’ve said, which is so typical of her. Jennie only hears what she wants to hear and nothing more. She lifts up your shirt, and you grimace when her finger traces over her perfectly carved handwriting on your stomach, a gnarly scar in the shape of a capital “J” that had you bleeding for a week. You swore to yourself that you would find a way to escape Jennie after that. She had done many terrible things before, but that was the final straw for you.
You knew she would stop at nothing to prove to you and others as well that you were hers and only hers.
“I love this,” she laments softly, still tracing the scar. “It’s so beautiful, Y/N-nnie. It turns me on knowing you’re the only man for me.”
“I’m not yours, Jennie,” you silently rebuke as tears are now edging at the corners of your eyes, because seeing Jennie act and talk like this scares you, perhaps even more so than when she is angry. “Not anymore,” you manage to utter out before you swallow hard, anticipating her reprimand. It sickened you to remember that there was a time, a time where you were willing to receive her destructive affection. But now you were pleading with Jennie that you weren’t hers anymore, even if she can’t grasp—or accept-—it.
But perhaps you didn’t grasp the truth that you were Jennie’s, especially with her mark on your stomach.
Then you recoil slightly as you see Jennie’s jaw clench. “I’m what you need, Y/N L/N.” And you know she’s serious when she uses your full name instead of her pet names for you. “Surprising that it hasn’t gotten through your skull just yet.” Her fingers leave your stomach, and so does the warmth that comes with it.
You despise how badly you miss it.
She sighs, attempting to keep her cool. “Don’t fight me on this anymore,” she says.
“You won’t change,” you respond, quivering in fear as you back up slowly until your back hits the kitchen counter behind you. And she follows you back.
Once again, her warmth envelopes you as one of her hands tighten around your waist while the other reaches to the back of your head, pivoting your head down towards her. And with the both of you breathing heavily, you know where it goes from here.
“Y/N-nnie,” she whispers as her plump lips are inches from yours now, curved up into a smile compared to the frown you observed from her just mere moments ago. Her mood comes and goes, changing constantly. It was too much for you to deal with the multiple sides of Jennie. “I love you. I have to hurt you to prove my love. I don’t know any other way.”
It’s a lie. It’s always been a lie.
“I hate you,” you whisper back, yet you lean into her all the same. The second her lips touch yours, the familiarity of it all drowns you and you can’t help it. Jennie repulsed you yet you burrow yourself into her as your lips touch.
It was the only thing you knew: Jennie.
“If you try to leave me,” Jennie grumbles as she pulls away for a moment, “I’ll find you. I’ll find you, tie you up, and you’ll never leave me.”
The darkness underneath her feline eyes should’ve made you pull away from her and run away: it was dreadful and unpredictable, but you cursed yourself for finding Jennie Kim to be the most beautiful woman you’ve ever laid your eyes on. She was charming as she was deadly, and you still succumbed to her.
You’d like to imagine that Jennie was capable of love, even if it was in her own dark, twisted way. But her controlling needs clouded her desire, her love for you, and turned it into something exhausting and horrible.
And yet, you couldn’t find it in you to completely quit her.

There were many things you admired about Jennie and one of them was how confident she was. The main characteristic that attracted you to her in the first place was her confidence, how beautiful she was and she knew it.
There is nothing sexier than a confident woman.
But at the same time she was a very big problem and you knew it. You knew it the day she told you that you were hers forever.
Maybe you should have run away then, ended it all at once, but you didn't. You stay, you were drugged by her, sick even, and she knew it. She always knew that.
You can't run away from Jennie Kim even if you wanted to. She would never allow you that.
You were hers. Hers to love, care for, and hurt. The scars on your backs are just memories, memories of the passionate nights you spent together.
Mere memories of how painful her love was.
But still, even after so much pain, you found yourself wanting more. You became addicted and knew you couldn't live without it anymore.
She was a drog and you gladly accepted it into her life.
"You can't get me out of your head, can you?" You heard the mocking tone. You heard how she laughed and how pleased she sounded when she said those words.
"You're so needy of me, aren't you?" She laughed, moving closer to you and sitting on your lap, forcing you to look into her dark eyes.
"You can't stay away from me, can you?" She kissed you hard, forcing your lips and biting your lower lip which started to bleed a little.
She licked her lips, tasting the blood and smiled seductively. "Your blood tastes great, you know that?" She laughed out loud, kissing you once more.
You were silent, completely at her mercy. Just like you should be, she thought.
She continued to explore your body, shedding the sweatshirt you were wearing. Her nails were long and left several scratches on your bare chest. Jennie ignored your quiet protests and continued to attack your neck, giving you more marks.
Your body was full of marks, bite marks, hickeys, scratches and cuts. All of them hurt but she never stopped, she was determined to show you that you belonged only to her.
Even if you would have known about it.
Everyone knew that, actually. Your family, your friends and everyone who crossed your path.
Your friends who were now dead and your family who no longer kept in touch with you. It was painful, being abandoned like that but you knew it was for the best, you couldn't risk them getting hurt too.
You knew what Jennie was capable of.
And you didn't want her to hurt your family, she's incredibly possessive and if she feels threatened by your own family she'll kill them. You know that, she told you herself.
And it was true, the deaths of your friends were proof of that. Proof that she wasn't lying.
"Who are you thinking of?" Jennie questioned you in a monotone voice, but you could feel the venom in her words.
"You." You smiled weakly. It wasn't a lie, but you preferred to keep the details hidden.
"Hmm..." She murmured, staring into your eyes with a hurt expression, which left you confused. "You're lying, aren't you?"
"...I'm not lying..." You sighed, looking down at the red dress she was wearing. It was so pretty, you thought, and red suited her.
And she knew it, one of the many reasons she was almost always wearing red or bloodstained clothes.
This is so disconcerting, you knew it was wrong and insane, but even after all the monstrosities Jennie committed, you weren't able to stay away from her. You wanted to, but you couldn't, and you were still attracted to her.
So terribly attracted to her.
"Then why are you so hesitant, huh?" She arched an eyebrow suddenly. "You... You're not thinking about another woman, are you?!"
You were quick to try to dispel her anger. You didn't need to be punished one more time.
"No! Of course not! How could I even think about another woman when I have you?" You spoke quickly and seemed to reassure her as her expression softened.
"You better not be!" She kissed you one more time, biting down hard on your bottom lip and it hurt. It really hurt. You groaned in pain, trying to pull away.
She smiled eerily, licking her lips.
"Because if you are... I'm going to kill her in front of you and make you feel the pain you've never suffered in your life." She laughed eerily and you cringed.
Fear. It was that feeling you felt and yet you weren't able to separate yourself from her.
"You know I wouldn't do that, right?" You said, touching Jennie's face lovingly. "I could never think of another woman."
She leaned into your hand, closing her eyes.
"You're right, (Y/N)-nnie, I know you never could…" Jennie murmured, kissing your fingers, "but I confess I would like to, because then it would just be another excuse to punish you. You know how much I love you screaming in pain."
You shuddered, trying to ignore that bad feeling that was lurking you.
All of this was horrible, yet you still found yourself unable to say no to her.
You were always unable to deny anything to her.
"You know that I... that I, well, that I love you, don't you?" You spoke the dreaded words. It was a path of no return.
Jennie smirked, grabbing your head and kissing you once more. Her lips devoured you, you could feel yourself getting turned on by it, but you didn't try to do anything.
Everything would always lead to the same thing.
With you beneath Jennie as she punishes you sexually and physically.
You learned to live with the pain, with the constant pain your body had.
"I love you too, my love, and I want to hear you scream my name tonight." She kissed you passionately, slowly rubbing herself against your body.
You moaned. Yes, it was always the same.
You were drugged and maybe even crazy about her, but you couldn't help it. You got used to her possessive and murderous behavior, you got used to being hurt and you learned to like it.
You can no longer live without her. You couldn't do it.

Any doctorly thoughts on Vash and all his scars and various metal bits? 👀
VASH IS A TRANS ICON!!!!!!!!
i mean, ahem.
i fucking love vash's scars, all the gnarly hacked off bits in odd places and clunky metal pseudo-patching his mutilated chest, the bolts suggesting he was drilled back together in places instead of stitched, and the janky lacerations implying he was poorly stitched back together in others-- this man has been FUCKED UP for the past century, and not just because he stepford smiles no matter how much he's dying inside.
vash has physical evidence of violence upon his person in a brutal, "he rawdogged healing this almost intentionally" kind of way. his own personal stigmata that he's borne and displays, on occasion, with an almost sheepish shamelessness. and it becomes even more obvious that he's willingly looking like this when we see how fast and easily his twin brother can heal and reform his body-- knives literally pieces himself back together after being blasted apart by vash and looks pristine. untouched. perfect.
so vash looking like he does is a statement, i'd argue. it's almost an I'M HUMAN AND THIS IS EVIDENCE I HAVE LIVED (AND SUFFERED)!!!! THIS IS THE BODY I CHOSE TO INHABIT!!! the fact that he simply Refuses to use his plant powers to change that says a lot, to me. the few times he's used his plant powers to defend himself it's been either involuntary or in the act of defending others, too. vash, i believe, wishes so so so fucking hard he was human that he willingly lets his body be massacred in an effort to prove that, to feel at home in this wretched inhuman body that refuses to age. his scars are how he shows time has passed and he's lived in that time.
but you're asking about doctorly thoughts, ne? my doctorly opinion is that What The Fuck Was Going On With Some Of Those Wounds Vash xDDDD a lot of them don't really make sense / make me wonder if Vash wasn't literally tortured/blown apart multiple times. or if he didn't like. intentionally mess with them so they'd stay open..... things to think about.
i unfortunately gotta run do some doctorly things now instead of elaborating more but, yeah, vash gives me trans vibes, in that he passively self-harms in that manner in an effort to bully his body into being more aligned with his mental image of himself (ie, human).

More L x Reader Headcanons: Getting Close
These have been sitting in my drafts for someone who requested, but sadly, I completely went off-track and didn't even answer their request...so I'm posting these here because apparently my reading comprehension is cheeks LOL. Person who requested NSFW L, it's coming I promise!!!
Because this was meant for something else and went into another direction, it's a bit janky and doesn't make sense. Still, was worthless in my drafts for a while...^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
★ I think he has a low sex drive, however I do NOT think L is sex repulsed. At all. I think he does enjoy sex, he just doesn't feel sexual attraction based on appearance alone. L would begin to form attraction to you as he gets to know you. Being physically beautiful isn't enough, and won't do much for him. He can acknowledge when someone is stereotypically attractive, but he looks inward.
★ I mean...he is literally the equivalent of men who don't have a bedframe. Actually, L IS the dude without a bedframe. He doesn't exactly want a model.
★ L is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to love. He is capable of loving. He does not think you need the stereotypical nuclear family to be happy, and he would never just intentionally seek someone out - but he finds himself getting lonely at times. His attitude is that if it happens, it happens. He knows he's unlikely to find a partner, but he wouldn't fully reject it.
★ Getting close to L isn't easy considering he is often cooped up inside. While the scenario of him falling for an agent helping him with a case is always classic and sweet, I could honestly see him falling for just a regular person.
★ I feel that either way, L would be afraid for you - similar to how super heroes have to be careful for their loved ones being put in danger due to them - L has that fear. He's worried something would happen to you, and it would be his fault. For this reason, I do think L would try to push you away. Hint at Matsuda or Light to sweep you up so he won't have his heart broken.
♡ Anyways...
★ Let's say L is interested in you. There would be teasing and bickering. Late nights staying up together (if you are working with him) and you two gradually grow close over time.
★ He falls for you, for you. Your mind, your soul. I don't think L experiences love often, it's a one-and-done. To get to that point takes much patience and time, so you two must have spent a lot of time together already, picking at eachothers brains and sharing deep thoughts.
★ Ironically, the two of you argue quite a bit, but that strengthens the attraction... somehow.
★ I have a scenario in mind where L is in the midst of pushing you away for your own safety. He knows what he wants, he knows he wants you, but what he wants more is for you to just be safe and not in harm's way.
★ For L you cannot let him do all the work. He would fantasize about holding your hand, and the two of you being happy together as a wholesome couple, but he doesn't want to make the first move unless he knows for sure, like, with verbal confirmation that YOU ARE INTERESTED. He's aware he looks "strange" to most NT people, and he fears coming off as "creepy" to you. He doesn't want to scare you away, as at this point if he caught feelings he already considers you a best friend.
★ He's good at reading people however, and if you wear your heart on your sleeve he will most likely catch on to the fact that you have a thing for him. He notices you put a bit more effort into your appearance, and that you smell extra good. He finds it amusing the way you stutter and laugh nervously to mask your emotions, and he can see right through you.
★ On one hand, he's elated. Who wouldn't be knowing their little crush returns the feelings? On the other, he's scared and wants you to just...go away.
★ He doesn't want the problems that come with a relationship as in, worrying about you, the possibility of losing you and the potential heartbreak that would follow.
★ Without much spoken confirmation the relationship happens...naturally. A bit awkward, but things fall into place...
★ You falling asleep near him, so he places you on the nearest couch and covers you with a blanket.
★ The two of you finding any excuse to touch eachother, you finding any excuse to talk to him even if you have nothing important to say. All the while he's asking you, "What do you think about Light Yagami?" , trying to push you into someone else's arms and guaging how you feel, pleasantly surprised that you're not interested.
★ You probably confess to him after a particularly difficult night. Maybe you're exhausted, exasperated, something bad happened. Perhaps you were out on the 'field', helping him with a case when he told you not to...you worried him the entire time. You argue before kissing him.
★ He's shocked and fires you, but you refuse to leave. It works out.
★ As mentioned before, you can't expect him to do all of the work initially. He is too afraid of making that first step (hurting you, offending you, being 'creepy') and he would rather you did something instead. He is over cautious of boundaries as he doesn't want to take any chances fucking things up.
★ With time, he will initiate getting close to you. He trusts that you would talk to him if you at all felt uneasy by his actions - communication is necessary with him!

a favorite bounty hunter fam headcanon of mine:
so, in the expanded universe, boba has a very, uh, interesting childhood even before his father dies on geonosis. jango, paranoid as he is, fears losing his son to the point that he keeps his very existence a secret. only a handful of people on kamino know about boba and of those, boba only gets to regularly interact with three of them: his father, taun we, and his father's bounty hunter associate/rival/partner, zam wesell.
pretty much the only time boba gets to go anywhere new is when his father brings him along to watch and/or help jango kill people. what i'm getting at is: at the start, this kid has almost zero knowledge about anything outside of bounty hunting, much less what constitutes a normal childhood or family life.
this changes one day when zam sidles up to him and gives him a library card. which is very strange because, up to this point, boba didn't even know tipoca city had a library—a library that just so happens to be stocked with kid-friendly fiction novels that include heretofore alien concepts to him such as: moms. school. kids his age. and in this way, boba becomes somewhat more knowledgeable and a LOT more curious about life outside the little bubble his dad has prepared for him.
thing is, it's a weird library? it's not even really a library—it's literally just a slot in the wall where he goes and asks for a book and a droid will just. drop a book out. his dad isn't pleased with this arrangement bc he thinks books are a distraction and only wants boba to focus on things relevant to his future as a bounty hunter. still, he tolerates it.
everything up to this point has been pulled from legends media. now for my headcanon:
zam fucking put that library there.
think about it:
it is very unlikely that the library is an official fixture of tipoca city. for one, like i mentioned, it's not even a real library. it is, as far as we know, a closet with a bunch of books and a droid. furthermore, none of the books contained within would hold any interest to tipoca city's other residents. the kaminoans aren't the type to read children's fiction to their offspring. jango, as has already been established, doesn't even want boba to read fiction, period. and none of the other cloned kiddos would even be allowed to. it's obvious that this library was set up with a single person in mind and that person is boba fett.
zam has ample reason to set up this library for him. for one, she's just really fond of the kid. even jango, who is the pinnacle of parental paranoia, trusts their bond enough to leave boba in her care bc he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that she'd never intentionally harm him. so setting up a nice little thing for boba would be in-character for her. in addition, zam does express to jango that she doesn't approve of his keeping boba so isolated. furthermore, when she gives the library card to boba, she explicitly recommends that he take up reading as a means of escapism. thus, her setting up the library could be her way of helping to break that isolation and monotony just a bit.
it wouldn't even be that difficult for zam to set up said "library." all she needs to do is rent a storage unit and then stock it with age-appropriate books and a droid. if anything, given the nature of the library, it seems more likely that a single person set it up than the kaminoans themselves.
the existence of the library irritates jango. zam loves to irritate jango.
i rest my case.
and hell, if i really wanna take this headcanon and run with it: the whole reason boba has his concord dawn story line as a teenager is that he begins to suspect he might be happier leading a "normal" life rather than one as a bounty hunter.
guess what would've formed his main basis for conceptualizing what a "normal" life looks like?
/will smith arms at the library
tl;dr, zam wesell almost derailed this kid's entire corruption arc by setting up the galaxy's most janky-ass library and she would've succeeded, too! if it weren't for that fucktrumpet lenovar
thank you for coming to my ted talk

I can’t access our games here, but our in-laws have a physical copy of Zestiria, so we played a little of that. Really tried to give it a fair shot, despite its reputation (again.) but it’s as bad as I remembered.
On the most basic level, it doesn’t handle well at all, and I don’t mean “I don’t like the combat” or sth, I mean it’s janky and physically unpleasant to play. Sorey’s model often judders from basic movements on the overworld.
The story is not terribly gripping, tbh. In theory I like the idea of flipping the script and having the discovery of an ancient society of invisible spirits with one adopted human be seen from the perspective of the spirits, but in practice it just ends up that we’re witnessing these events from the perspective of someone who doesn’t think they’re surprising or interesting. And I know that they’re intentionally trying to make Sorey a subversion-of-a-subversion, like an actual purely good hero would be like THIS, but that’s not enough to make me care, you know?
Unfortunately the environments are pretty interesting, the music is decent, and I like the landmark mechanic. I say “unfortunately” because those were some of the elements I found a little weak in Berseria—they are set in the same locations, after all—so I came away like “man, why does Sorey get to look at this sick water wheel while Velvet gets a pile of leaves?”
Back when I was watching a walkthrough, I didn’t appreciate just how closely parallel the openings of Z/B are. You’ve got the main character hunting prickleboars, an ancient book detailing the solution to malevolence, the idyllic village life interrupted by the horror of a person-eating demon, said demon travelling to the capital to do an assassination at a ceremony where the shepherd is announced…
Yeah, overall just can’t shake the feeling that Zestiria just kind of exists as something for Berseria to subvert. Which I know isn’t true—there are definitely people out there who like the characters. Maybe it’s that once you’ve seen all these goblins and werewolves humanized, it’s hard to go backwards and watch them play it straight?

another rant about the crochet community and idk how to fully articulate this so bear with me but. you can acknowledge that crocheting takes time and patience and skill to learn while also being encouraging about others learning it. i feel like so many big accounts will constantly talk about crochet as if it’s like literally rocket science and there’s only a select few who were gifted with the ability to do it and i think it’s partially a sales tactic for certain people who have etsy stores because like. if you tell people that crocheting this amigurumi that’s really nothing more than a sphere with safety eyes can be done with honestly a few hours of practice and dedication, then they won’t pay you $20 for it. and this is where it gets dicey because i don’t wanna knock anyone’s hustle, i understand that people absolutely deserve to be paid for their time and labor and materials, but also i feel like that kind of rhetoric dissuades people from learning the skill. i saw a post the other day that was like “you think crocheting is easy? we’re making hundreds of little knots over and over again, we have to worry about yarn tension and choosing the right hook and designing patterns etc etc etc” and it’s like. some of that is true yeah. but some of it is intentionally taking something easy and accessible and trying to make it sound complicated so that someone who’s never tried before will be discouraged before they even start. choosing the right hook? you look at the little number on your yarn and it tells you which hook to use. boom. and i’m not saying crocheting is easy, believe me i cried when i was learning the magic ring, but at the end of the day i crocheted a (very janky very improperly done) octopus on my first day! everyone can crochet and idk why people who claim to love the craft want to make it a competition and try to scare beginners off of it because like. these skills used to be so so commonplace when sewing and crocheting and knitting and quilting was a necessity to making your own clothes/blankets/toys/etc. little girls were taught these skills by their mothers and they were passed throughout communities with a lot less resources than we have now like the abundance of step by step youtube tutorials. idk it’s just weird to me how many people who have success crocheting have this “don’t even bother it’s too hard” mentality when asked questions by beginners. yes it’s a skill and yes it takes time and effort but it’s accessible to everyone

So my phone is already getting really full, but cause I can't get an SD card and Google photos only allows me to back up a measly 15GB of photo storage, I thought I'd try out this thing to move photos onto a USB stick directly to my phone
So firstly I need to remove my phone cover for it to work at all. But also, for a while and after much fiddling around and experimenting, I finally found a way to move over photos and it would show up saying "Move to USB device" however whenever I clicked it, nothing happened. I formatted everything, tried to go through every option and setting I could go through, I did everything I could do. But now it won't even show that, it just will let me move my photos elsewhere in the internal storage, I get no option to move them to the USB any more
And the only problem area I can think of is that one setting, switching the USB control to my phone then selecting file transfer or USB tethering. But my phone won't let me switch the USB control and says it fails every time
I know I am bad with technology so it can seem like user error, but I promise I have looked at and done everything I can to do with this device, my phone just won't let me do anything. And the only thing I can think of is it's fucking Google again. Like, besides that one brief time, it hasn't even shown up as a suggested area to move things, nothing for the USB is showing up, I know my phone knows it is connected and recognised what it is, but it's intentionally hiding it. And I am positive it's because Google wants me to once again use their services and storage, and pay for extra storage. It's the photo album issue all over again
It's just frustrating because unless I want to boot up my janky, old, slow PC, get that all set up with the wires and stuff, then connect both my phone and a USB port to the PC, then move everything from my phone onto a USB through my PC, unless I wanna do that tedious process, I'm just going to have to delete things. But considering the extremely short time I have been using this phone, like what, literally about a month? Like a month in I already am just going to have to delete things and lose them forever? 1 month in? And I gotta use this phone for 2 years at least? That just fucking sucks. I really regret not looking into this phone and getting it, my Huawei was better in literally every way
Also, partly what's taking up so much storage is the phone has 17GB taken up by the system (that number grows with every update FYI) and 18GB by apps, thing is, I have only downloaded 17 apps onto this phone, the rest came preinstalled and I can't uninstall them. So that's 35GB of my forced, unchangeable 128GB taken up by the phone itself, which lets dock, let's be generous and say 4-5 GB of app data that I installed and can remove, that's still 30-31GB of storage that I can do nothing about! Like, 1/4 of my phone just taken up by crap!
It's great that Google are trying to push you to use their services and products, but when that makes the phone unusable? And this miserable of an experience? I can't believe it's only been around 1 month with this phone. I got another 2 years left at the minimum. I fucking hate having to delete photos too, especially so soon. A phone built around photography and the camera, yet every single part of the camera and photography experience is shit. My Huawei was miles better in every way. Such a severe downgrade.

Arcane Watchthrough
Tumblr media
Episode 1: Welcome to the Playground
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EP 1 was very good! It's not an unusual premise, but it's the execution that really stands out here. Aesthetically, it's wonderful, very stylized, strong artwork, and lots of small character acting. I see it setting up plenty thematics and character stuff too. Impressed.
I'll say tho, it's a fair criticism towards Powder. I'm all about making people feel included and realizing their full potential, but if she screws things up every time during your missions, maybe don't bring her with you? Or at least give her a lesser role, like keeping watch.
Probably my favourite little moment from the episode tbh, got a laugh out of me. Very expressive. I like Vi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 2: Some Mysteries Are Better Left Unsolved
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arcane keeps up the solid work with EP 2!
Episode 3: The Base Violence Necessary for Change
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That was SO GOOD.
Episode 4: Happy Progress Day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ooh, timeskip. Jinx, huh. Wow, her guilt of having accidentally killed everyone, and the trauma from Vi "betraying" her, has messed her up so much, and Silco makes her actually feel important, as her little inventions finally succeed, for example.
It makes sense, basically, that she's the way she is now. The janky flashbacks are great, with Jinx's demonification of her past and the people in it, being literally represented in the visuals, painting over her memories, to cope with the past.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just also taking the opportunity to gush about how good the show looks. Background art, for example, beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 5: Everybody Wants to Be My Enemy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What stood out to me about Arcane's 5th episode the most was the directing! The overall storyboarding, imagery, and editing, were all significantly better in this episode (and it was already fantastic). Wonder if there's a specific reason in staff for this. Best episode so far.
I think you really notice the storyboarding right from the get-go, I thought this perspective was really cool, for example.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like her voice a lot.
Tumblr media
Silco got the drip.
Tumblr media
Cool transition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at that.
Tumblr media
As this is the same place she used to practice, this is probably a reference to that shooting practice? I'm thinking beyond the point of the scene just showing how different she is now. Would've been cool if the practice targets were like fake tree birds or something.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just top-notch editing for this scene, and the fact that Jinx still can't beat Vi's score, one she did years ago, when she was her age, just feeds into Jinx's insecurities even further.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sick transition (also love the 2D effects work).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all, very cool with the horn built into the violin, but just a fantastic scene overall. The violin is my favourite instrument, you know, so any scene is elevated with violin music. Also, sick stage work, I'd attend that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very abstract presentation for the sex scene, keeping it tasteful and also allowing them to tie it into Victor fainting in some visually interesting ways.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another sick transition from the previous scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wasn't sure if Jinx and Silco's relationship was paternal or romantic, and I think it was intentionally ambiguous but to what purpose other than to keep us guessing I don't know, but I know now that it's paternal. Baptism-like scene here, to get rid of "Powder."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think these are the band members for Imagine Dragons? If so, that is very cool. Also, playing the opening in an episode is always awesome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at how the camera turns 90 degrees here as she throws Vi to the ground, that's so cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lots of character and story goodies too, it's just fairly straight-forward so I don't have too much to comment on that, but it's all fantastic, and it's a bummer I only really have time for the series on Sundays (as I'm watching with my Dad) cause I'm loving it.
Episode 6: When These Walls Come Tumbling Down
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh God, I'm gonna cry.
Episode 7: The Boy Savior
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Holy shit
Episode 8: Oil and Water
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This show is so good. I'm consistently impressed by how every single character is given relevance and focus, always contributing to the bigger picture. EP 8 managed to do so much for all of them.
Vi and Caitlyn goodness, Viktor finally outrunning the boat, some continuingly appreciated Medarda characterization, haunting hallucination scene with Jinx, Jayce having to make increasingly more difficult choices, Heimerdinger still being active, etc.
The fight scene had me giddy as fuck, and for some reason made me tear up a bit (cause it's just that awesome I guess lol), and it ofc being intentionally set up as really fucking cool so they could bring us right back down to face the actual real life consequences too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 9: The Monster You Created
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow. What a finale. The whole dinner set-piece was such a brilliant idea for the climax that when I first realized it was happening I cursed myself for not realizing how perfect this would be. Honestly tho, this episode did the most for Silco imo.
“Don’t cry. You’re perfect.”
Tumblr media
There's so much to unpack here. Of course, on an obvious level, Silco chose his daughter over his dream. He is the only one that completely sees Jinx, all of her, and loves her unconditionally, and accepts her for everything.
Vi, of course, loves Powder too, but it's not "open and unconditional" in the same way as it is with Silco. She screams at Jinx to remember her past, in order to force Powder to reawaken, but that just makes her paranoia and hallucinations worse.
Silco shoots at Vi, not just so Powder won't awaken and he can get what he wants, but also because he knows that this hurts Jinx and genuinely empathizes with her, with that pain, and realizes Vi is hurting her, by doing this, and by being at all, and he intends to protect her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silco accepts Jinx, mental issues and all, doesn't even blame her for killing him, and tells her that she doesn't need to change, which seals Jinx's decision to stay as Jinx. After all, she's already perfect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The best part tho, is that Silco's love isn't just open and unconditional, it's still rooted in selfishness as well. He genuinely loves her as a daughter, and empathizes with her, as he sees himself in her, but she also embodies what he loves about the undercity.
Silco chose both Zaun AND Jinx. He doesn't want a Zaun that has to deal with Piltover, he knows that won't work out. He loves the chaos in the undercity, that brings out the monsters within the people, I mean, under his rule, the undercity got worse, and intentionally so.
By choosing Jinx, he not only chooses his daughter (and still allows her to choose who she should be), but he chooses the idea of Zaun that he wants to preserve, that chaos, that city that forces people to rise and grow powerful through conflict, which Jinx embodies and fulfills.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This really ties into why Silco chose to take Jinx in which should seem a bit out of character but in combination with empathizing with her being betrayed as he once was, he also sees Zaun as he envisions it within her and how she embodies that idea more than anyone else.
It just, it would've been so easy to fall into the trap of making him get attached to this child for no real strong reason, but Jinx explicitly ties into his fundamental principles of being, so his actions stay totally in character and only richen him further.
Of course, I'm not trying to glorify Jinx's and Silco's relationship at all. It may have been open and loving, but that isn't enough to properly raise a child.
Man, that you're perfect scene tho, I've rewatched it multiple times, and I tear up every time lol. Of course, this episode did wonders for the other characters as well, with that wonderful callback as Jayce stops Viktor from suicide this time, for example. Just fantastic all around. Very excited to see what season 2 has in store.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall Thoughts:
Tumblr media
Arcane was so good I genuinely can't come up with a single flaw or anything I would've changed lol. Wonderfully written story just elevated tenfold by some of the best presentation ever. Silco is an all-time favourite antagonist but top-notch cast overall. Unmatched insert songs.

The Boondocks #22: “Shinin'” | November 26, 2007 - 11:30PM | S02E07
This one’s pretty straightforward, but very fun. I don’t think I laughed out loud, but I remember specifically thinking things like “I love this show” “I am so glad I watch this show” “I am glad I’m not racist anymore” stuff like that.
Riley wants to join Thugnificent’s entourage. With said honor, Riley will be bestowed a silver chain. And you know Riley be tryin’ to have a shiny-ass torso. When he proves himself he finally gets the top prize, ALL around his neck. Riley is very proud of his cool necklace. But, this pride is short-lived when he meets the goddess, Butch Magnus. Please note! I have decided to intentionally not learn what “meeting the goddess” actually means in storytelling terms and misuse it liberally for this blog. So, I’ll clarify what actually is happening, which is that I’m high, and possibly going insane while I watch I mean write this.
Butch Magnus clocks Riley (racist) and steals (fascist) his chain (capitalist). Riley tries to get it back and has a tough time. This is really where the show sorta takes a SImpsons-esque turn; TURNS OUT this is an episode about Bart and Lisa even though the first act focused on Homer and Marge going to Legoland. Maybe the Legos will come back in the third act and help Bart and Lisa. Maybe that’s what happens here; Thugnificent (or at least one of his gag) helps Riley get the chain back. But he gets a little more than he bargained for!
This one has a great scene where Riley first attempts to get his chain back using Ed Wuncler’s grandson, who kidnaps the wrong kid and is about to subject him to a battery of Guantanamo-style tortures before Riley steps in and clears the air. This scene is reasonably dark and cinematic. It’s great. There are some really janky instances of bad animation in this episode and I wonder if they ran out of money making this scene look so great.
Good episode, a little slight, but very fun.
MAIL BAG
Tim Heidecker basically took Sam Hyde's show away from him because Sam said he voted for Trump which isn't any different that Tim saying he was riding the Herman Cain Train back in the day. That's bullshit, man. I don't know why you celebrate this dude.
That’s SIMPLY not what happened you fool!! You need to educate yourself with this very long youtube documentary. Is it good? I don’t remember.
That cinco family jingle at the end of thocks is so menacing. Feels inspired by how there are a lot of autistic people on the internet that love to talk about production logos and commercial stuff that they find scary. Tim does most of the music for the show so you know he's deliberately doing things like holding a note just a little too long to make it go from odd to sinister. He's a pro. An absolute stud.
A real note stud some might say. I agree, he’s nice

Ok well initial thoughts on Pokémon Scarlet
I’m having fun
The frame rate is kind of wonky in the house at the start but I didn’t notice a lot of noticeable frame rate issues when I was out in the world
However… we do have to address one presentation issue. So if you aren’t familiar, PLA did this too. When you’re at a distance from objects in the world the frame rate of those objects is intentionally limited. Presumably for performance reasons. It looks a little janky, but I can deal because it’s a Switch, it’s not exactly a power house. However… why they decided to limit the frame rate on the models in certain cutscenes where you are VERY close to them and there is no way the frame rate would matter (like in the classroom scene where you’re being introduced to the class) is absolutely beyond me. There’s literally no reason to do it that way, and it look SO janky.
