Tumblr sorta needs a 'Mute' feature in my opinion. Like what if I don't want to block this user, what if I don't want to become enemies and in some days I'd like to interact. But also most of the time seeing how they avidly encourage everyone else whereas I get the passive-aggressive 'oh yeah very uhh... interesting... (please leave me alone I don't like your art lol)' makes me want to unfollow every single fan of these characters and never draw them again.

I remember two years ago the exact same thing happened when someone liked the same character and the same ship and I swear I was the only person in the fandom they bluntly left out and could not spare a single good word for. I can't even blame this on my art being "ugly" because this type of user always aggressively praises all art styles and all levels of skill, it feels more like 'a personal thing except we never fought a single time'. And now my toxic trait of needing approval from [cool person name] is back to haunt me years later! Add the unability to "abandon" this character/ship/whatever despite wanting to after facing so much unspoken passive spite, because I am a contrarian and the best way to trap me into doing something is to try to exclude me from it. I didn't face attempts to very aggressively bully me out of the yard/class/community/etc, sometimes with physical violence included, only to let something mid like passive aggression online finally do it.

I am really stupid and naive person despite my age, but in like 5% of the cases I will still understand the hint and understand what is going on. Yet I have to pretend to be clueless even in rare situations when I know someone hates me, because since they never admitted it, quitting will be perceived as me being "paranoid". But dear goooood, it hurts sometimes. I hope that one day I will be numbed to being treated as a tumor on an otherwise healthy body of society that someone is dying to amputate- and always a person whose approval I want, of all people. Knowing that this day will come is one of the things that keep me going as both a person and a creator. Things like viruses and diseases still try their best to persist, so even if I am actually one, I should persist. It doesn't matter whether I actually rot everything around me or this is just my self-depreciating delusion upon focusing on people that mistreated me and not people that loved me. What matters is persisting, I just still feel angry that it hurts. I can't respond spite with spite or passive aggression with passive aggression, I can't do the 'smug asshole' when I become aware that someone tries to starve me until I "die". I can just fall over and cry about it like a kicked dog, despite being so old, especially when it is a person I didn't have anything against.

And really.. It is as simple as turning the internet off, so I don't see The Person and can focus on doing stuff that I like, as if they never existed and can't crash my self-esteem. It is just annoying to keep doing this, a feature to not see them unless I am in the mood would be better. Like.. blocking is not an option. Not only it implies being enemies which is not my intention, but also it will be like an "evidence" that I was "crazy". They didn't do anything, right? Well, they know what they did, but it was never verbal, so it is my fault I "imagined things", right?

I feel like batfam fans misunderstand the term parentification a lot and conflate it with Dick filling a parental role for his siblings, which might be part of the “oldest daughter syndrome” that’s so often pinned on him but that isn’t what parentification actually means

If I say that Dick Grayson was parentified, then that isn’t referring to him taking care of his siblings, it refers to the way Bruce treated him. As someone capable of taking care of his emotional needs and not as the child in need of care in the relationship

Parentification is a term that’s been around for decades, and while having to care for younger siblings might be a part of the definition, it focuses mostly on the role reversal of the parent-child dynamic. I’m not going to get into the psychology of it but being parentified has very little to do with if he actually acted as a parent for his siblings and everything to do with if he acted as a parent for Bruce

This is honestly why I prefer the term spouseification, which is less ambiguous than the term parentification and I feel accurately describes their “equal” relationship and the type of emotional abuse that Dick went through

Also from what I’ve read, Dick doesn’t act as a parental figure for any of his siblings except for Damian. While he might have given extra emotional support to Tim due to Bruce being Bruce, Dick still fits solidly into an older brother role. I’m not even going to touch on Dick’s relationship with Jason which is too weak to even be considered fraternal never mind parental

Here's a Suselle Pride Month pic! This actually started out as something I did as a spite reaction to the hate this ship gets and it's still getting it because people don't know how to look at characters as any sort of 2-dimensional except me (jk I've seen a lot more folks thankfully) SO IT'S STILL SPITE LOL. It was only when I realized that June was coming when I lined it at the tail-end of April that I held onto this and slowly worked over it in the month of May. So it wasn't originally for now. Funny that tbh.

This was also me fucking around and finding out with Sai 2's scatter brushes now at my disposal :D I love the sorta blatant Fire and Ice thing with them still. I won't lie in the slightest it was greatly inspired by Lynxgriffin's piece of them. Other than that I draw everything from scratch and my hands were screaming for a while (If tumblr isn't still fucky with links I'd do that but until then aaaaa..)

like i see people say stuff like “rei is a deconstruction of the idea of like the perfect girl in a male gaze-y way” and and i'm ready to agree until they go “it’s because she’s creepy and weird and bad!” like no. rei's a deconstruction of misogynistic ideas of womanhood because they’re ideals forced upon her that damage her, not because she’s in any way “creepy”. like, the fact she’s a fourteen year old girl who was basically used as a substitute wife by her father bc she looked like his own dead wife is not something that is meant to make rei look bad like holy shit.

like both rei and asuka are very obviously like. showing fantasised and misogynistic ideas of an idealised woman don’t work irl yeah. shinji's misogynistic view of them is wrong. but that’s not because rei and asuka are bad people it’s because like. “fourteen year old who's flirty and seductive” and “fourteen year old who's a quiet obedient object” are major signs of abuse and trauma and anyone actually acting in those ways at that age clearly isn’t normal. asuka is desperate for attention in any way she can get it, even unhealthy and dangerous ways. rei is at the very least I has a weird pseudo-incestous enmeshment filled abusive relationship with her father, even if she's not actively being sexually abused. asuka is seeking support, rei is a grooming victim. these are not things that are flaws in their character the entire point of subverting the expectations is to show how those expectations are unhealthy to rei and asuka like. god.

in-game mc distributes their time so equally with everyone and is so unpredictable with their choices & answers that it's difficult to pinpoint who they are as a person.

and... if you've paid attention to solomon throughout the main story and events, you'd know that he acts extremely wary of mc whenever he offers them his affections.

because in-game mc isn't clear with their thoughts & feelings, people like solomon cannot truly be themselves around them. how could you show every aspect of who you are if the other party doesn't?

the other option surprised me a lot because it isn't often that mc outright states their affections towards solomon specifically in events when everyone is around.

when mc reassures & reconfirms their love for solomon, he too, responds similarly.

and whether mc remains distant or expresses a mutual love, platonic or not, solomon continues to abide by his compassion and generosity.

whether mc mutually responds to his feelings or not, he doesn't hide himself. he doesn't hide the fact that he wishes for YOU to succeed, for your happiness, for your satisfaction, because he's secure with his love. he holds enough compassion for himself that his tiny human body flows with an excess of love pouring out; he has more than enough love for you, even if your focus is on someone else.

can you tell me of any other person in the obey me cast who holds this much benevolence?

I have some Thoughts about the reset so I'm just gonna write them all down:

This is in no way aimed at anyone specific and is mostly just my overall thoughts as a viewer

I think the fandom are being a bit dramatic over it atm, its been only a few days i think yall need to just chill. I know you dont like change but like, give it time?

for 1) the old builds lore etc arent GONE, they're just 200k blocks away, its the same server, theyre just very far away likely due to new terrain generation (if im wrong on this, please correct me) 2) the players were bored of the old server, theres a select few that WERENT bored when the majority were. I'm sorry if your lore got interrupted or was replaced but 1 or 2 players compared to the over 30+ other players, it was bound to happen. Timings just don't match up and any cc who is being stubborn abt it needs to understand its not All About Them when its a SERVER 3) about the above ^ ccs like Luzu, Mariana, Willy etc those that felt they COULDNT log on because it had been too long are finally being given a chance? PLEASE give them a chance. I know you're attached to your current ccs but these guys are AMAZING and deserve your time and finally they're able to do that! I'm sorry to say but having a lot more players on will mean more than losing one or two players who are being stubborn about old builds

4) I understand the frustration over things being behind pay walls or being slowly introduced but you have to understand THEY DID THE SAME THING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE QSMP! A lot of the newer creators just weren't around at that time so they joined to having everything unlocked. This isn't a new thing! Give it time! 5) at the moment everyone is just trying to find their footing again, this happened at the beginning of the qsmp as well - again just be patient, they'll get there! 6) this reset was done likely to remove the builds that F*rever did, I completely understand WHY this was done and I think moving forward we can look forward to an island that isn't tainted with his lore or what he built.

overall, I'm really enjoying the reset, especially as a Luzu watcher, I'm REALLY glad he's back because he's an incredible streamer. I get why people are so frustrated but PLEASE JUST BE PATIENT i know change is difficult but you need to give it time to settle - I'm sure they will be allowed to go back to their old bases, old lore etc!! There's no way they just destroy everything and forget about it. Just give it timeeee!

Did you or do you ever struggle writing character x reader fanfiction? I read it quite a lot but I just can't get used to writing in that format. I'm writing an OC x Homelander story, though.

I had never created an OC before, but I am certainly more comfortable writing a character that has a name, face and backstory of their own than using a generic reader. Particularly when I'm writing about the character's past and other individual characteristics, addressing the reader as you seems so weird to me. It makes me feel like I can't give in to specifics because it breaks the illusion.

Also, I've enjoyed the act of creating an OC. Giving them a name, a story, motivations, designing their psychology, etc.

However, I find it discouraging to see that OC x HL stories are nowhere near as popular as HL x Reader and I worry that I may not find an audience. When I post anything in ao3 it gets like two likes and in tumblr I'm just ignored completely 😢

oh my darling! i hear you. the disparity in interest between x oc content vs x reader content is undeniable, but it's also inevitable. all the reasons you describe struggling with reader perspective fics is why it's so popular: the lack of detail allows the reader to adopt a nebulous perspective, whether they see their own oc in that situation or their literal selves. it doesn't require them to get to know or become invested in your creation, it allows them to indulge in what feels like their own.

i don't think readers get enough credit for their suspension of disbelief and the mental work they put into filling in the blanks that authors leave. similarly, it's absolutely difficult to tell a compelling story while leaving what is often the perspective character a near blank slate. that said! the fics i get the most feedback on are where the reader does have a stronger personality. people love banter, and even if the reader's voice doesn't always feel like something they would actually say, it always produces much more engaging interactions.

i've definitely had my struggle with this in the past, but i'm still learning. the series i'm working on right now, Guilty Pleasures, features a reader with quite a lot of personality, and i've established things about her that i wouldn't normally go into such detail, and the response to it has been great! your reader perspective SHOULD still feel like a character with thoughts, motivations and feelings. otherwise, the story is going to fall a little flat.

if it's easier for you to write the reader perspective as if they're your oc, you should do that. there's a delicate balance between too much and too little information when it comes to reader fic. sometimes taking liberties really works, and i think you'd be surprised how well readers can stretch that illusion. reader perspective should resonate, but not be so overpowering that the actual person reading doesn't like them.

but you absolutely do not need to force yourself to write a particular style of story if it's not something you actually enjoy. i also write and enjoy oc fic! i honestly think my oc fic Eat Your Ego is some of my very best work. unfortunately, it's rare that any of those chapters ever break close to 100 notes, whereas even little reader drabbles will see 2-3x those numbers, sometimes more.

but i write it because i love it, and it's the story i want to tell. that's what matters! and because of my dedication to the story, people have been kind enough to trust me with their time and investment. oc fic will never have the same broad appeal that reader fic does, but that doesn't make it less valuable. you just have to invest more in promoting yourself and convincing people that your story has something to offer them.

my best advice is just don't give up! i'm horribly erratic when it comes to the creative projects i work on, but i've been writing Eat Your Ego for over a year and it has gathered a lovely little following. feedback on that fic means SO much to me. even though there's less of it, the joy it brings me is immeasurable because that fic is special to me. don't give up on your story! it deserves to be told. 🖤

Me being like "wow I am just not feeling the trigun hyperfixation rn" but realizing I'm not feeling any kind of hyperfixation, and in fact stopped playing bg3 early bc it wasn't bringing me the joy I wanted, don't want to watch any shows, don't even want to finish up the Lego set I was building

I think I'm just depressed by this point.

I actually really loved the ending of Neverafter, but I struggled to get to it. I think the problem is that the episodes were either incredibly dense abstract lore episodes about the authors and the canonade, which is very much my kind of thing but is hard to keep up with with week-to-week episodes the length of movies, or were otherwise kind of meandering and felt like they were just killing time to the point that I definitely half-listened to a few episodes - still not entirely sure what the red gems were for tbh - and don’t feel like I missed much.

I also think this season had horror elements but the ending is pretty solidly not horror, which to be clear is probably why I liked it. With that said I think making the horror almost entirely “you are trapped in a story where you have no name and no agency” (ie, the thing the princesses were responding to and nixing the creepy aesthetic elements would have strengthened it. It’s funny because I’m not bothered by gore and so on, but I also don’t find it remotely interesting and given the final battle, it wasn't even relevant. Like I’ve said before, I can’t really do zombies not because they eat brains and look gross; it’s because they look like your loved ones while having none of their empathy or personality. So leaning into the horror of powerlessness and doom would have done way more for me than “there’s a WOLF in a GIANT GROSS SOUP.”

In the end it's sort of an impossible scenario in that I think you need the space the different core plot elements of the princesses, fairies, and authors are given, but I don’t know what I’d put in the place I’ve cleared of all the extraneous spooky shit. Honestly I think the best course of action might have just been to put like a hard stop on the length of non-lore episodes or to have changed the schedule to every other week or similar.
