it’s the 90s in my monkee universe where davy lost his mom young like he did irl and they are watching the land before time because, yknow it seemed like a cool newer movie and peter LOVES don bluth films so they happened to pick it up from a video store after it left theaters so they’re all at home on the couch snuggled up and then they get to the scene where the sharp tooth attacks and mike sees it coming and has a hand on davys arm immediately and sure enough theres a dying mother scene.

davy stiffens a bit but says he’s fine and so mike squeezes davys hand a bit but then eventually davy starts to sniffle and mikes like “okay that’s it micky pause it.” and despite it having been so many years since his mom passed and him having been so young at the time, something still hits davy, especially seeing a kid in denial that his mom is going away because he just assumed she’d always be there!

but davy is determined to push past most of his babyish ways of the past so he keeps assuring mike (who is holding his face and looking into his eyes) that he’s fine between breaths. but mike is in full mumma mode because davy became his baby forever and always, and they turn the film back on and it’s all fine but mike holds davy extra tight and snuggles up to him throughout the rest of the watch and davy can’t help but push himself into mike and cling onto his shirt because mike is there for him and he does love him so much.

i have now come around to “i’m not lying about being sick” but god it sure does sound like it when i’m pulling brand new symptoms out of my ass every time my work asks me to do something. sorry i’ve developed debilitating vertigo since last week. yeah i can’t drive anywhere. can’t really sit up and look at the computer for very long either without puking so i can’t reliably take incoming zoom calls. yeah this is just since the last time you saw me a week ago and i told you i could do those things sorry.

Hot RotE take: Fitz going straight back to Molly once Burrich died would not have happened if he hadn’t partially Forged himself.

Molly was Fitz’s first love, and I believe that Kettle was right that their relationship belonged to his youth. They were never going to work long term. It was a fundamentally childish romance primarily based on physical attraction; they were generally either having sex or fighting which is age appropriate for teenagers but not the foundation for a life partnership. He used her to hide from himself and the parts of his life that he didn’t want to acknowledge. Molly was a symbol of simplicity for him, one that I think he had outgrown by the end of Fools Fate. More than that, I think he would have gotten over it if he hadn’t put all of his pain over her marrying Burrich into Girl on a Dragon. By getting rid of those feelings, he made it impossible to process them in a healthy way, so when he gets them back suddenly it’s 17 years later and Molly is a widow approaching middle age with 7 children but he still thinks of her exactly the same way he did when they last saw each other. Add on Beloved leaving him just after he got over his fears of accepting the intensity of their bond and was ready to reciprocate love with no limits (the most traumatic possible thing that could happen to someone with attachment issues like Fitz,) and he’s regressing to who he was when he was a traumatized 20 year old. So while obviously his time as Holder Badgerlock isn’t necessarily bad, it makes me sad because it was so clearly a regression for his character.

Reasons why I wrote Fated to Flame:

I love crafting stories & writing them

I love many YA plotlines but absolutely do not want to read about teens

Publishing really gonna see its reckoning with how they shifted the mainstream book market to be oversaturated with YA (along with other things I could take them to task on). Because where does that leave the adults who want to read fun stories but are too often recommended 6th grade reading level prose restricted to a teenager’s viewpoint in order to scratch that itch?

I wrote Jasmine’s story for those that may feel similar to me. Years ago, the New Adult genre was in its bag and introduced a stepping stone from teen lit into something more mature without launching straight into adult fiction like ultra high fantasy, crime thrillers, etc. But that’s been phased out. 😔 My book is only a drop in the bucket in attempting to revive it, but I’m forever grateful to RIZE for seeing my potential as a debut author.

I also learned a LOT about book writing, publishing, and what it means to be an author through this process. It’s humbling and enlightening; I might write future posts about my feelings on that as well cause you know, my Tumblr is basically a diary these days idk 😂

I have soulmate au stuff rotating in my brain

What about a universe where soulmates are a rare and uncommon thing and there are three kinds

Familial, platonic and Romantic

Steve is super unusual, not only does he have a soulmark he has not one, not two but 3 one of each kind

Robin of course is his platonic (duh they say so themselves)(they have matching ice cream scoops they end up finding out when they both are puking their guts out in a mall bathroom and Steve's shirt slides up as he drags himself under the stall )

His familial is Dustin or maybe max depends on what relationship dynamics you want to describe (or maybe they're matching marks and all 3 of them have the same symbol I feel like the nailbat would be good for that because that's when Steve met and first protected them both then steve pulls the bat from his trunk and swings and they both grab their upperarms where a nail bat wraps around their bicep)

And finally eddie

His romantic soulmate the d20 that sits on his ring finger that they both cover with rings because it's not socially acceptable to show soulmarks unless you like cannot avoid it and it's on your face

How I'm picturing in this au is that there a record of soulmates or something because that's definitely something that kids would be figuring out and somehow somone stumbles upon the fact that Steve Harrington has 3 (all while missing the fact that eddie munson and Robin buckley both have soulmates as well (maybe even multiple themselves))

It would be interesting if it was based on bonds with people

It's more of a promise that this person will have an important bond with you so its not always good because if there is going to be a war more kids end up with soulmarks because trauma bonds people

Somone figures out that something happened to these kids because they have so many soul bonds intertwined between all of them

I personally think this is a lovely idea and you’ve got so many threads running through it that it could be as multilayered as you want it to be! The variety and diversity of what a souls mate can be in your au suggests the potential and I think that if you are enjoying it then you should for sure write it!

There’s so many dynamics you could have interacting and seeing relationships shift. I love that Steve has three and that trauma bonds people. That the party potentially all bonds to each other, the angst of is some bond with some and not others. Idk man I think you got something really interesting here!

While I know that I didn’t promise to make Disability Zebra right away, I still feel bad about not having been able to design it yet. But I do think about it everyday, and even if I’m not able to make it in time before Disability Pride Month ends, I’ll still make it and show my progress. It’s important to me to try and figure out this design than other pride flags at the moment, I’ve been feeling. So thank you for the ideas back when I asked them, and thank you for your patience :)

writing update :)

-i know i said painter au chapter 9 was nearly finished but then i … decided to essentially rewrite it lol (i’m much happier with it now it’ll be worth the extra wait) it’s still not finished but i’m back in the groove and making good progress now

-i wrote a oneshot that people seem to really be enjoying! you know i love a little wilmon confronting trauma moment

-lake house .. so sorry to my lake house stans but editing it is tedious and i really don’t want to update until i’ve edited the past chapters, plus i think chapter 10 may need some rewrites so i’m not sure when she’ll be out but i promise it’s not abandoned! bear with me 😫

-lastly: i don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up but twitter got ahold of my maddierosh fic and really loved it so there’s been some … ideas for a follow up bouncing around in my little brain … it’s not my priority but sometimes i like to churn out a oneshot if i’m struggling with my longer pieces so who knows
