Mm, if the tone of this book was different and WC was a series that was more willing to make characters flawed and self-destructive on purpose, I would LOVE the ring of this paragraph. Unfortunately, I feel like they're trying to frame this "former version of Ivypool" like it was a good thing.

It wasn't "courage, determination, and loyalty" that drove her to train there, those are excuses. Justifications. It was jealousy, anger, and fear. The Dark Forest exploited her weaknesses to groom her, suck her in. The fact she threw herself into danger, and no one protected her, was a BAD thing.

She was the worst possible version of herself back then, nasty and violent and terrified. She killed Antpelt on their orders, and was going to kill Flametail too. Without hesitation. It's not "falling from those days" to not be that person anymore.

So... the idea that she mauls this dog, revels in the satisfaction of sadism, and appreciates the dark-forest-red color of the blood on her claws, it would be a great passage to suggest that she was going to deal with her grief in a very self-destructive way. "Maybe I can be that cat again" could give me chills, man.

i've been avoiding leaks and spoilers like my life depends on it but just based on the promos and where the characters are right now and little things sam has said in recent interviews... i think i know how the reunion is gonna go and it's going to HURT ME GREATLY but...

it's also going to make the romance so much better in season 3. season 3 is going to be EPIC if they're doing what i suspect they're doing. season 3 is going to be genre defining queer romance and i am FOAMING AT THE MOUTH thinking about it. anyway.....

I think what non-destiel shippers / antihellers don't understand about shipping destiel is that they think it's about having two guys together on screen. Which I mean, that's awesome, don't get me wrong, queer rep is important. But more importantly, I feel like Dean Winchester deserves to have someone who loves him and takes care of him and wants him in a way that no one else ever has. And while obviously he loved Lisa, and Lisa loved him back, it's not the same because Lisa could never understand him and know him (for all the good and all the bad) in the same way that Cas does.

You could say that this doesn't necessarily have to be a romantic love, but goddamn it, doesn't he deserve that? Deserved to be loved? Are you telling me that Sam gets to have a wife and a kid when he's in Heaven but Dean doesn't get to have someone like that? Dean never got to meet someone and fall in love again like Sam did. Is Dean just supposed to meet someone in Heaven? Could he even meet someone in Heaven who would understand and love him the way Cas does?

A lot of people I've talked to are usually split between believing that Dean either reciprocates Cas' feelings or he doesn't, and people will try to provide proof either way. But honestly, while I personally do believe Dean reciprocates, it could go either way depending on how the story is written. What I honestly think the most is that I hope he does. I hope he loves Cas back because Cas is his one chance at finding that happiness, especially after his life was cut short. I hope that he gets to spend his days with the person he loves because he deserves it! I hope that he finally gets to love fully and be fully loved in return for the first time.

when kratos's theme is played in the style of faye's :( the way their themes are intertwined is crippling. he wishes he had her mercy, her compassion, her HEART, HER. and hes left with her son, who through kratos's eyes is as fragile and temporary as a memory. to kratos, atreus is all he has left, all that ever was, and all he will ever lose. atreus is the reanimated corpse of everyone hes EVER lost and he has no idea what hes doing, he has no idea what to feel except grief, he has no idea what comes next other than LOSING HIM. he wishes he had faye's certainty, her collection, her sureness of fate but he DOESNT.

so for fun im working on a statistical report on the mariluke ao3 scene. this data is not final because i wanna put the real data cutoff at may 26, 2024, so that itll include any new fics made for @marilukeweek buuuuuut i wanted to do a preemptive scan of the data so far.

i did a scan of fics posted per month to see if there are any surges or trends and it's pretty cool. mariluke economy seems to surge from oct-nov, and then we tend to shrivel up and die in the summer months usually

in terms of ratings so far, mariluke is a horny bunch. not all of us, but a good big chunk, HAHA

also, for funsies, here's an excerpt from the actual report WIP. lines are highlighted in orange because this is all subject to change with new fics thatll come in up until may 26, but i just wanted to share because of the last paragraph. congrats marius!!
