It was the middle of summer when Satoru raised the question. A bored evening, the two of you were sitting on the balcony sharing some strawberry cake. He had been staring at you for a while, obviously deep in thought. You let him play with whatever was in his mind until you reached the last bite of dessert, finally deciding to ask him what he was thinking about. He’d looked at you very seriously for a long time before finally answering.

“I want to marry you,” he stated.

You nearly choked, your eyes growing wide in surprise, “Excuse me?”

“I want to marry you,” he repeated, “Not some big wedding thing, just you and I. I want you to be my wife.”

“I-” you paused because while the idea wasn’t unwelcome he had totally blindsided you, “Why are you bringing this up now? Did something happen?”

He had a bad habit of burying his problems. Often refusing to speak about something until he was on the verge of breaking.

“Nah, I was just staring at you and you’ve got these crumbs on the side of your mouth,” he reached over to wipe them with his thumb, “And I was thinking about how cute you look like that and then I thought, who thinks someone looks cute with a bunch of crumbs on their face? Must be because I’m in love with you, and I already knew that but I was just thinking if I already wanna be with you forever and you obviously feel the same way why don’t we just get married already?” He licked his thumb and leaned back, propping his hands behind his head. “I don’t wanna wait anymore, I wanna do it right now.”

You couldn’t help laughing, “Who says I feel the same way?”

He turned to you with a big smile, “Don’t play coy, I’ve got you whipped.”

“I believe it’s the other way around, actually.”

“It goes both ways, how about that?” 

You nodded in agreement, “Okay, fine, we’re both whipped and we wanna be together forever.”

Your eyes danced over the Tokyo skyline as you let his proposition sink in. It was surprising, Satoru loved to be the center of attention so you couldn’t imagine he’d pass up the chance to have some big flashy wedding. That wasn’t something you’d want, it always seemed more romantic to you to confess your deepest feelings in private. When you declared your undying love for Satoru you wanted him to be the only one to hear it. Really thinking about it made you realize how much you hated the idea of some big ceremony. Months or even years of planning, all the anxiety and anticipation of making everything perfect. Then having to share all your deepest feelings in front of a big crowd. Plus with Satoru’s status in the Jujustu world it’d inevitably become some sort of political ordeal.

“You’re okay with us just running off to do this? No party, no big celebration, nothing?” You questioned him to make sure he was really sure about it before you agreed.

He grabbed his chin, rubbing it as the scenario passed through his mind. “Yeah, I mean a party would be fun, but I don’t wanna wait all that time. We can plan some party later, oh and a honeymoon, we gotta have one of those,” he nodded as he imagined all the locations you could go, “But the actual marriage part, I don’t need that to be for anyone but us. If you want that stuff though, we can wait.”

“I don’t want it, actually I kind of hate the idea of it all,” you confessed. “It seems stressful, I’d rather it just be us.”

His eyes widened excitedly and he leaned forwards in his chair, just barely sitting on it’s edge. “Let’s go do it now then! We can go to one of those drive-thru places! It’ll be fun, and then we can go on a mini honeymoon tomorrow!”

You laughed at his excitement, “Well I at least want a white dress Toru, and I want you to wear a suit. Why don’t we plan it for this weekend or something?”

“Nah, I wanna do it tonight! If you want to get dressed up we can,” he dug into his wallet and passed you a card, “We’ll go get you a dress and me a suit and then we can head over! We can go right at sunset!”

The excitement in his big blue eyes was too overwhelming for you to deny him so you nodded and let him hoist you out of your chair. You rushed over to the shopping district you frequented and gave yourselves both an hour to get ready. You found the perfect little white dress, it hugged you just right and you found yourself getting emotional in the fitting room. Off the shoulder with long sleeves, hitting you just above the knee, pretty feathers wrapping around the collar and top of the sleeves. It was simple elegance, paired with a pair of sweet kitten heels it really made you feel like a bride. You swiped the dress and changed into it right away, having to run back to the car to meet Satoru in time. He had found himself a deep blue suit and paired it with a baby blue button up and some black formal shoes. He looked incredibly handsome, his eyes no longer hidden by the sunglasses he’d worn on the way there. 

“You’re beautiful,” he wrapped his arms around you and spun you around with a big smile.

“So are you,” you cooed back at him, stealing a quick kiss. “Are we really gonna do this?”

He nodded, “Obviously, come on I even got you this,” he presented you with a jewelry box which made you gasp.

“How did you have the time…” you trailed off as he opened the box, revealing it to be totally empty inside. “That’s mean Toru!”

He laughed and tossed the box into the back seat, “I didn’t actually have time, that’s just an old box. I got you this though,” he pulled a candy ring from his pocket, making you burst into a fit of laughter, “It’ll have to do for now alright?”

You nodded and presented your hand to him, “Come on, you’re supposed to put it on me.”

“Not yet, you have to wait until we actually get married,” he winked and opened the car door for you, “Come on pretty.”

You grinned as you buckled yourself in, the candy ring seated in your lap as Satoru sped through the city. You were both laughing the whole time, grinning like idiots as you pulled into the drive-thru. Satoru explained excitedly that you wanted to get married right now because you were madly in love. You two were told to sign some papers and they offered you a veil for the photos. A man dressed as a priest led you through a quick ceremony and simple vows. Satoru slid his candy ring onto your finger and dipped you back as dramatically as he could for your first kiss. A young giggling girl took a million pictures and babbled about how cute she thought you were. In the end you left with a bundle of printed out pictures of the two of you and a real marriage license. 

“I can’t believe it,” you gripped the license as Satoru drove you back towards your home, “This is like, for real Satoru. We actually are married.”

He took your hand and kissed the candy ring on your finger, “It’s not real until we consummate it.”

Laughter bubbled up from your chest once again, “Shut up perv.”

“Hey, that’s no way to speak to your husband,” he teased.

“Well you shouldn’t be acting like a perv Toru, you’re a married man you know?”

He was smiling ear to ear, “That’s even more reason for me to be a perv don’t you think? Now that I’ve got the prettiest wife in the whole world, I mean how can I be expected to keep my hands off my pretty, perfect wife?”

“I don’t know, I can’t keep mine of my handsome, strong husband,” you took one of his hands in yours. “So I guess you’ve got a point there.”

When you got home Satoru carried you to your room and tossed you onto the bed. You spent your night rolling around in the sheets, giving in every single time Satoru asked for just one more. How could you even deny such a doting husband after all? You worked yourselves until you were exhausted, falling asleep tangled up together with your bedroom looking like it’d been hit by a hurricane. Even when the morning came you didn’t care to clean up, instead opting to spend your makeshift honeymoon tucked into your big bed together sucking on your candy ring.

Season 2 episode 1 [What Can The Damned Really Say to the Damned] - part 4/4

- And now... Mood shift, setting change, back to Dubai, 2022, and the 77 year-long lie. And lord oh lord, we jump right into it with the shot of the bedroom being a cell and Armand selling Louis' art without even telling him the works are up for sale. Greaaaat. This is gonna be fun.

[Louis] "'Could I see the pages we removed? Of Claudia's diaries?'

[Armand] 'We made an agreement.'

[Louis] 'I don't know what else is blurred or misremembered.'

[Armand] 'My name is in some of those pages.'

[Louis] 'I sit across from him and reckon with the knowledge I don't know what other misrememberings made into it. I won't share them with him but I need to read them again.'"

Brb, need to SCREAM. Oh, the control Armand us exercising over Louis... The way he micromanages every aspect of his life. The way Louis has to bargain for everything he wants, and the way he thanks (thanks!!!) Armand for every breadcrumb thrown his way. The way Armand cares more about his image, his reputation, his grip on Louis, than Louis' well-being and peace of soul and mind. And the way the scene is shot and designed, the bars behind the bed and the skyscraper settling, the lack of any colors and any homey furniture, the huge bed with an ocean separating them, contrasting with the comfy house and room of 1132 rue Royale, and how Lestat and Louis used to sleep entwined in each other's embrace... I will go mad.

- BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THE ENTRANCE HAND IN HAND, ARE THEY SERIOUS. Oh, this is too hilarious. And how they drop the hands as soon as they're seated, yeah, real convincing, fellas.

- Oh, Devil's Minion's crumb! Armand responding to Daniel by mimicking his "Yeah" and those big eyes looking so amused and fond at that old man. Couldn't care less about the Loumand, I'm here for the Devil's Minion. What a performance, Louis rubbing Armand's shoulder, lmao.

- Daniel shutting down Armand immediately is hilarious. "Sure, sire, you're on the record, but you still haven't made an appearance in the story so for now stfu and wait for your turn". No wonder Armand goes crazy about Daniel, that guy doesn't know how to be afraid. And second shoulder pat, Lou, hon... You're enjoying this, aren't you. You are enjoying the way Daniel puts Armand back in his place, something you haven't managed to do in years, despite what you both like to pretend.

- Oh, I love that piece of music! That one is "The Whole World Was Ready to Return" and it is gorgeous. It's played here, as Claudia and Louis go to Paris, and at the end, when Louis issues his threat/warning to the vampires in Dubai. Very thematic. The music in s2 is different from the music in s1, by the way. S1 soundtrack had very folk/blues undertones, New Orleans style, while s2 is much more orchestral/symphonic, Paris style. The music adapts itself to the setting, and I adore that. It gives so much more texture to the story.

- [Louis] "The war had turned off the lights, stripped its streets of their beauty, sent its avant-garde into exile. But now, the whole world was ready to return, to remake their lives. Pilgrims, on their hopeful way."

Nah, the avant-garde, at least artistic, was there, just, waaay underground or dangerously flirting with censorship and hidden meanings. In Paris itself during the war, there were several plays written and played against fascism while the Gestapo was patrolling the streets. Notably, though conflictingly, Jean Anouilh's famous "Antigone", in 1944, Josephine Baker singing and spying , as well as Sacha Guitry, who was arrested after the Liberation and accused of collaboration without any evidence, but who managed to save a lot of Jewish artists and personalities by playing double agent, or good ol' Sartre (who hilariously makes a cameo later on in the show) who writes a lot of stuff between '40 and' 44. Anyway. There's more but I ain't have time right now to do serious research. Back to Louis.

- [Louis] "'I wanna say something to you. I don't need to hear anything back I just need you to hear me. Hard words and soft words. The hard. Our life is shit. It's been shit. It is shit. It's gonna be shit again. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. No one's watching, no one cares. A shit life beats no life. But where we're going now we can't be running away again. Anyway that's his child, that's her parent.

Gotta give it to Louis tho, he doesn't lie. Embellishes, obfuscates, but lying, no. As long as Claudia's alive, he's not gonna try the sun. But if she dies... All bets are off.

Also Louis is right and hey, actually needed to hear that right now, thanks bae. Now someone needs to tell him back his own words, I think he needs to hear it back.

Jacob talking about the heart full of sugar and how he spent the rest of the night on a sugar high is so adorable and hilarious when the part that comes next is Dreamstat. Also hey, "Dreamstat" was coined by Jacob himself, nice!

[Jacob] "Anne Rice's vampires are so human. This is kind of a departure from these sort of beautified, glamorous vampires. It's just really fun." - yeah, I like the glam vamp, but the monstrous vampire, a bit like Mike Flanagan does in Midnight Mass, is also a thrill.

Love Delainey saying she loved doing her stunts and all the physical stuff!

[Assad] "Armand wants to protect himself, but also wants to protect his relationship with Louis, what they have. He feels he has no choice except to come in, sharing the narrative with Louis." - yep. Protecting himself. Protecting what he has with Louis, even at the expanse of Louis' own will. Because what does Armand fear above all else? To be unloved. Not necessarily alone, like most vampires, but to be considered unlovable and unworthy of people's care. So if he can't be sure that people's feelings for him are genuine, he will orchestrate and manipulate them to tie them to himself. That's Armand's schtick.

“She’s so cute,” Jen says, watching Evie crouched by the pond in St. Stephen’s Green. She is breaking up the last third of her ice cream cone and feeding it to the ducks.

Experiencing Dublin through her eyes has been the most entertaining part of the day, because when we’re with her, following her from shop to shop as she announces she’s found a soap or candle she can’t get at home or stops to watch a street performer sing the same roster of songs he does every single weekend, the city doesn’t seem like such an awful place. 

Now we’re taking a break. We’ve had lunch at a burger restaurant set up to look like an American diner, wandered through the science museum touching all of the exhibits, and made her try the sea salt flavour at our favourite ice cream parlour. She liked it, which means that she has objectively good taste, and evidently, so do the ducks.

“Look at her! They love her, she has a way with them.”

“Are you supposed to feed ice cream cones to ducks? Doesn’t it make them explode or something?”

“God, you’re not supposed to feed them anything these days, are you?” She grins at Evie, enamoured, “It’s so hard for me to get my head around the fact that she’s friends with someone like Kelly. How does something like that happen to a person?”

“Same as how someone like me is friends with someone like you. People just get trapped.”

She snorts, “Am I the victim or are you?” 

Evie tries to pet the smooth head of the duck that waddles closest to her, and then squeals as it lunges to peck a piece of wafer right out of her hand. I smile. “What do you think about her and Liam?”

“They seem cute, I’m happy that, like, something is happening for him in that department.”

“Hm. I don’t think she likes him.”

Jen glances at me, “Did you get some delicious piece of gossip about this while I was in the gift shop?”

“No, not really, I just have a feeling.”

“Probably projection then. I don’t think you want Liam to be happy.”

I scoff. She is ridiculous sometimes, “As if I care if Liam is happy or not, that has nothing to do with me. I was just sharing a point of view that I have.”

“Ah, I get it!”

I squint, “What do you get?”

“You want her for yourself.”

“What? No. Shut up with that stuff. First Claire and now… they're literally just random girls to me.”

“Look at that pretty face though, you're so weak for cute features,” Evie gets to her feet and wipes her hands as the ducks scavenge for crumbs in the dirt around her.

“She’s not what I go for. She’s too… she’s a bit weird,” I flinch with guilt as Changing-Room-Fitzy in my head slaps me on the back. See, lads? Turner agrees. Complete oddball, right man? I don’t answer him. 

“Wow, okay.”

She’s coming back toward us now, “Do you guys have any more food on you? The ducks have me tortured over there asking for it. They might start pecking me to death if I don't provide for them.”

Jen digs in her bag for a little bag of almonds, “There you go, chick,” and as Evie goes back to the birds and begins doling out the nuts, Jen shakes her head at me, “You should learn to be nicer about people,” she says “This whole dickhead attitude thing is getting real boring.”

Ray! 😍🥰💖 I do have lots of long-winded thoughts (when don’t I? 😅) so here are some ramblings….

Version 1

Ian’s new to the job and he’s liking it so far. He has a nice little reception area behind a screen and he can play on his phone using the brothel wifi when there’s no customers. He deals with the customers, or ‘clients’, but has rarely seen the ‘employees’. His boss is rarely around. It’s a nice, clean place which Ian really wasn’t expecting. It’s not luxurious or upmarket but it’s definitely not a terrible place.

Ian is having a tough time. He wants a relationship but he feels a bit naive/embarrassed about all that stuff because he’s inexperienced/has no experience. He spent a lot of his teenage years dealing with his diagnosis and he feels he’s missed out now in his early twenties.

He goes on Grindr and tries to hookup but he has a bad experience with a guy who makes fun of his lack of experience. It puts him off and so he’s staying away from that for the time being.

The brothel has a book with information and pictures of all of the employees. Ian has looked at it and was instantly attracted to Mickey (there’s info about him and what he will/won’t do and a very attractive pic of his face). But he hasn’t met him yet.

It’s a bit of a meet ugly situation at first when Ian accidentally books a client when Mickey already has a booking. So he gets an annoyed Mickey stomping downstairs in the ugliest robe Ian’s ever seen, asking Ian “what the fuck do you think you’re doing double booking? I don’t do spit-roasts, dumbass”.

Ian is a little bit scared but a lot turned on. He promises not to get the bookings wrong again.

He thinks he won’t see Mickey again but Mickey appears the next shift when he’s got no bookings. He sort of interrogates Ian in a joking way and they begin to have regular chats - Mickey in his robe that is barely tied properly, always sitting a little too close and smelling a little too delicious.

Ian shares and/or Mickey kinda guesses Ian’s inexperience. Mickey says that anytime Ian wants to try anything out or learn something, Mickey will teach him. Ian thinks Mickey is joking but he’s not.

He thanks Mickey for the offer but says no thanks.

Then the bathroom on the main floor breaks and his boss tells him he can go upstairs to use the employee bathroom. Which is nicer - completely enclosed cubicles rather than stalls and much cleaner than the downstairs one. Ian discovers by accident that one of the cubicles has a vent and when he presses his ear against it, he can hear everything in Mickey’s room.

He eavesdrops on a session and gets incredibly turned on. But feels guilty for eavesdropping. He promises himself he’ll never do it again but then Mickey gets a client who also has the name Ian.

Ian can’t help it, he has to listen in - just to overhear Mickey moaning the name ‘Ian’. Even if it’s not about him. He jerks off but then when he exits the bathroom, he runs into Mickey who notices Ian’s flushed appearance. Later on, he figures out about the vent and is very amused.

Thinking Ian might come back and listen again, Mickey starts to call all his clients Ian. “That’s not my name-” “fuck you, you’ll answer to what I call you!”

Mickey confronts Ian and tells him he knows he’s been listening in. He offers Ian a session for free again.

Ian takes him up on the offer and they have a lot of fun, even if it is a bit awkward at times. They have more and more sessions, Mickey teaching Ian everything he wants to know and letting him try out what he wants.

They both like each other but Ian thinks Mickey is just being kind to him and Mickey thinks Ian is too good for him. Lots of miscommunication until one of them reveals they are falling in love…..

Version 2

Basically the same as version 1 but Ian is seeing someone. They haven’t done anything physical because Ian is nervous. Mickey says he’ll help him practice whatever he wants.

The guy Ian is seeing pressures him a bit (he’s kinda a villain) but Ian doesn’t exactly pick up on this being bad for awhile.

Some kind of dramatic moment where the guy finds out Ian’s been practicing stuff with Mickey and he gets angry, calls Mickey a whore. Ian gets angry in turn, realises he loves Mickey and defends him. Tells the guy to fuck off.

Cue romantic passionate kissing and revelations of love.

Version 3

Ian is trying to be celibate because he keeps hooking up with the worst guys. Working in a brothel is probably not the best environment but he rarely sees the employees.

Mickey is instantly attracted to Ian and likes teasing/flirting with him. Ian flirts back (and struggles not to get turned on) but makes it known he’s not hooking up with anyone at the moment.

Mickey backs off ~respectfully~ (or as respectfully as Mickey can 😅) but still spends his breaks talking to Ian.

Slow burn, lots of long conversations where they open up to each other. They are clearly falling in love but neither want to admit it.

Ian realises he’s getting very jealous of Mickey’s clients and decides to quit and get a different job. But he can’t stop thinking about Mickey. He realises he loves him. But what should he do about it?

Mickey checks his bookings: 2pm - Clay. He doesn’t recognise the name, it’s a new guy. Mickey opens the door and is shocked to find Ian standing there, holding a bunch of flowers and asking if Mickey wants to go on a date.

Basically I have a lot of thoughts about brothel AUs 😅 I would love to write some of these but I can’t write smut and these sorts of AUs need smut.

I'm kind of worried about you guys

Recently I've been revisiting the Frozen franchise after taking somewhat of a sabbatical from it for the longest time, rewatching the movies and shorts, and I am currently going through the Frozen 2 documentary. This was mainly for nostalgia, but I wanted to try and understand the franchise from a more critical, technical perspective, and I've come to some insights that I think are worth sharing.

I already voiced my opinions on the frozen fandom in another post, especially in regards to helsa, but since I've been revisiting the old stomping grounds and reading recent posts, it's been concerning to me the level of emotional distress people were having over the treatment of Hans's character.

Now, from what I've gathered from the "text" itself (the movies and shorts, and the frozen heart novel), and from the documentary, I don't really get the sense that the writers and producers at Walt Disney animation have this vendetta against a single character. I don't think it's that deep. Despite the fact that our corner of the fandom believes that the character of Hans has potential, I can assume that the creative team doesn't really consider him to be anything more than a typical Disney villain.

Now I can't really say anything about the potential "hints" at his future redemption or a possible relationship with Elsa, but from what I understand what goes into the creative process during production, I don't think there is a guiding decree that declares that all Disney merchandising material have these hints. Most likely it is an accumulation of random chance and personal decisions down the production pipeline that have nothing to do with orders from the chain of command.

As much as it was exciting to me to read into stuff like this when I was younger, like the Hans and Elsa dolls getting paired together, for example, I think the logic still stands that currently his character is meant to be perceived negatively. And I don't think that's meant as a personal slight against our side of the fandom, that's just what the text says and what the general audience currently accepts.

I don't know if the creative team or Jennifer Lee has seen all of our posts or discussions, I don't know how they personally feel, but as a writer and an artist I feel that the vocal angry callout posts, fandom infighting, and actual petitions to get people fired over how a story should be written, ones that they might have seen, are especially harmful to the creative process. It's not up to fans how a story should be written, and as much as fans may not agree with certain creative decisions, it is ultimately up to the creators themselves whether they take that input or not.

Like I've said, PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS STUFF SO SERIOUSLY! It's two PG animated musicals that are marketed to little girls! There's a frozen-themed waffle maker! Canon doesn't mean shit! You can play with these ideas and adapt them through other means! Just because it doesn't have the Disney logo slapped on it or has professional CGI animation doesn't mean that your fan fiction or fan art is any less valid or cheapened. And listen, I understand having these feelings; I was disappointed when Hans wasn't in Frozen 2, I was disappointed about how the movie ended, or that Helsa probably wasn't going to become a thing, but eventually I grew to understand that that wasn't up to me. We are not entitled to make the creators do what we want.

We have to have a sense of emotional maturity and media literacy here, not just for this little microcosm of fandom, but for investing in all media in general. There is so much more that goes into the creative production pipeline. It takes a team full of people, hundreds, thousands, that make stories like this work. Scouring the internet for story crumbs and hints and theories is only going to frustrate you more and taking that frustration out on the creative team online isn't going to make your case or help anything. If anything, you're only coming across as kind of intimidating and aggressive, and creators don't really react well to that.

Now listen: I am not trying to police how anyone reacts to a piece of media, I'm not trying to come across as somebody on any sort of moral high ground. I only encourage those who have been disappointed and frustrated to put things into a larger perspective. This is a Disney animated film series marketed at little girls. If they want to bring his character back, that would be great! If they don't, who needs 'em? Please just enjoy what you are able to do with these characters and this story. You certainly don't need validation from the house of mouse.

But i wanted to deliver still, so I can give you some more headcanons.

crosby has always drank black coffee, ever since he got the taste of it, can't stick anything else. the first time bubbles offers to make him a cup he doesn't think to specify, is just grateful enough that they offered. it takes a lot for him to swallow his first sip, tries not to make it obvious, offering a smile and a nod. he's so used to taking sips whilst he's deep in his work that he inevitably winds up finishing the cup. gets up to go and make himself another, desperate for his preferred taste, only for bubbles to spawn out of nowhere offering to get him another one. he tries to politely decline but "i was gonna make myself one anyhow" and now he can't refuse or he'll look rude.

this bit's a tiny bit angsty but after bubbles dies, crosby can't drink the sweet stuff again. he tries to for the very first time after hearing, thinks it'll be something to to keep the memory. but it gets too hard, he winds up being sick, goes back to drinking black coffee because he can't stand the reminder of losing his best friend. well, up until he's deep in work and rosie comes along to see how he's doing, brings him a cup, and it's sweet and he probably drops his face into his hands and gets worked up but- (GUNSHOTS)

this one's especially based on the newest episode but, crosby's used to being seen as more timid right? will immediately stand up to admit when he's done something wrong but before it even gets to that point you can see it eating away at him. he might be able to handle a few comments here and there about himself, never quite willing to turn hostile because it's war, there's worse things happening and it's not worth getting worked up over. but the minute you say a single bad thing about his friends? oh it's over. he'll use his authority, put the fear of god into you, suddenly snap out of nowhere, no a soul can sense it's coming. he means business.

once again talked about in my last post but this man does not sleep, whether it's because of work or anxiety. he probably gets up and paces about, maybe goes to sit outside, goes somewhere, anywhere to clear his head. (angst) but he probably goes somewhere he knows he'll be alone, will talk to bubbles as if he's sitting beside him, laugh about good stuff that's happened, spill his guts about the things eating away at him, referring to fond memories they used to share.

Broadly speaking, I think ships start with some cute moments and then once those crumbs get fewer and farther in between, the shippers become more toxic because they start relying on “analysis” and “theories” and then basically become self-sustaining in their beliefs. I'd say this is true for taekook shippers and becoming more recently true for jikook shippers.

Taekook has been the most popular ship for a looooooong time. The two of them were definitely closer when they were younger so i think thats where it started, but then as they got older, I think a lot of people found them attractive and then shipped together just because of that. For example, in my opinion, I think tae and jungkook have the most y/n solo fans of anyone in the group (I.e. fans who want to date them). Shipping weirdly lends itself to y/n (stands for “your name” and means fans who have self-insert fantasies) because it makes the men they find attractive unavailable to other people of the opposite sex for these fans.

So anyway, their closer friendship when they were younger plus the y/n dynamic led them to being the biggest ship. Overtime, I think most non-shippers could see they became less close or their friendship just changed, however, the shippers had to double down because they had already dumped so much time in the belief they were together. This then started the extreme theorizing and analyzing that we see now with taekook shippers. And as I said at the beginning, they are basically self-sustaining in their beliefs now. Like if tae and jungkook don’t interact, it’s because of the company. If they do, then it’s their real feelings. Similar with when they say something that goes against the shippers beliefs, well the company forced them to say it. Everything and nothing either tae and jungkook do feeds what they believe.

As for jikook, I think the hatred comes from the fact that so much of the fandom are taekook shippers (even if they don’t admit it) and because most of the fandom sees something intimate there as you stated. I’m not a shipper, but even I can see their relationship is unique. I don’t know why, I don’t know in what way, and quite frankly it’s none of my damn business. But I do see a LOT of the fandom shares similar feelings (even casual armys I know in real life) they just don’t indicate it on social media because of how prevalent taekook shippers are and being afraid of being seen as a shipper in general. I actually think even most taekook shippers see the uniqueness in jikooks friendship which is why they hate Jimin to such an extreme degree. Like they have actually built a narrative about jikook into their beliefs about taekook because it plays such a big role.

Also there is a prevalent ant-shipper movement in the fandom. While I do think there are a lot of people who are genuine, I do think because the fandom is so full of taekook shippers, the movement kind of got infiltrated by them and mostly became a don’t romanticize jikook specifically. I’ll see all kinds of hit tweets for other ships, but if an account even jokingly implied something about jikook they’d be called out for making the boys uncomfortable, etc. Like is said, I’m not a shipper so all the duos come across my timeline and I can see the difference in the engagement and interactions depending on the ship.

I will say though that despite jikook still coming off unique to me, I think jikook shippers took a similar turn in behavior to taekook shippers. Like the jikook tag on tumblr used to be a lot more chill. Occasionally a blog would get a popular cult like following doing “analysis” stuff but it’d usually get called out and disappear if they got too weird. After chapter 2 started and there were less crumbs publicly for jikook, I saw more of these cult like following “analysis” and “theory” blogs pop up in the tag and becoming more popular. I check in on the tags of most of my favorite duos for gifs and videos and stuff, but I probably have most of the jikook tag blocked for the way it became post-2022. It’s crazy to me that they have a whole travel show and yet I open the tag for cute stuff from the show and it’s full of negativity. Too many blogs stopped just enjoying them and became obsessed with making them fit into whatever shipper fantasy relationship they want them to have.

So anyway, there’s a quick rundown of the two biggest ships as I’ve seen it while being a fan for years. In general, I’d just try to enjoy them and the content on your own and avoid anything that gets into weird analysis and theory content (for any ship). Don’t be afraid to block people that make you uncomfortable or you feel like is overstepping the line. I’ve been enjoying every episode of Are You Sure and I plan to continue doing just that.

Had to take a short break on here because of all the negativity (so sorry for the delayed response :( ), but seriously thank you so much for this breakdown!! I feel like I'm discovering a whole new world being introduced to BTS and Jimin and Jungkook since they are my favs from the group so far (along with JHope), and Are You Sure is definitely giving me such a unique perspective into their bond!! Just wanted to share a lil idea I've had lately about how the whole thing could start

For some context, I've always seen Attuma and Namora as frenemies, thus some sort of 50/50 between agreeing/tolerating each other and competing/bickering

1. So I feel like the first time they both saw reader they were both star-strucked by her; they both were left speechless by her beauty and strength

2. Being as blunt and possessive as he is, Attuma probably went after reader first; something clicking in his mind and making him go all mine, not caring about anything nor anyone else in the world; probably didn't even notice Namora also staring at her, he was just blinded by that pull

3. I have a feeling Namora is way more reserved and diplomatic? composed? than Attuma and as soon as she saw him charging towards reader, she could only roll her eyes at how much of a brute he could be (guess Namora is more sensual and gentle so she could be a "gentleman" like that lol)

4. Since Namora is not as blunt as Attuma, I imagine she kept her distance and observed, trying to gather as much information about reader as possible; however, that also made her lose leverage as she basically gave Attuma enough room to woo/court reader

5. Sensing defeat, I imagine Namora taking a rather harsh stance against reader every time she would be around with Attuma but only because she doesn't know how to approach her and also doesn't want Attuma to notice her having a big ol' crush on her; her being so distant and rather dry towards reader also comes from how jealous Namora actually feels, she's also possessive and she also saw reader first and she very well knows she could do a better damn job than Attuma

6. Sparring with reader would probably be the few times Namora has a chance to be near her, like physically near her; she would be so distracted by the way reader moves, her scent, the way her skin feels against hers whenever they clash against one another, and most importantly, by the way reader sounds; oh Namora would pay close attention to every huff or whimper or groan that would escape reader's mouth and would wonder if that's how she sounds whenever she's with Attuma...or if she could make reader sound even sweeter if she had her way with her

7. Eventually Attuma connects the dots and realizes Namora's harshness and distance/coldness towards reader is not because she doesn't like her but because she feels the same pull as him; being the cocky asshole that he is, I'm pretty sure he would tease Namora endlessly about it until she snaps at him and bickers about why would reader choose him over her

Anyways, these lil snippets have been driving me insane lately so I thought I might as well share them here hehe

And yes, I like drama and angsty stuff like that sue me

How Namora and Attuma would approach the reader is absolutely accurate! ASDFGHJKLKJHGFDS I mean, in my opinion Attuma is kind of the guy who would start looking for the reader almost like a predator goes after its prey (I think he would also use his size to put more emphasis on it, I mean we looked at it all the mask scene with shuri yeah?)

Namora would literally watch him from afar already understanding what plan he has in mind, and click her tongue at her palate in annoyance. In my opinion Namora thinks Attuma 'plays a little too much' with things, if I'm not mistaken she herself in the film tells him "Stop playing Attuma" after he kept challenging Okoye.

In my opinion, yeah, Namora would feel a little put off by Attuma's way of doing things, believing that there is no room for her in your heart. However, I don't think she's the type to drop the bone so easily. I think she would wait patiently (even without jumping for joy) for the right moment where you and Attuma have an argument or something goes a bit wrong between you two, to be able to jump in and support you in that difficult moment. Namora would support you at any cost, even if you are wrong to Attuma in the argument and I think she would say things like: "I would never have done that to you…" or "I would never have told you…"

Obviously your relationship grows stronger knowing that I would always have support from her and it is at that moment that in my opinion the challenge really begins between Namora and Attuma: who will be able to win your heart.

Light bursts through the top of the stairs, startling Mikey awake, he scrambles upwards onto his feet, bowing over even when it sends another shock of pain buzzing through his body, hurried footsteps and a hushed, whispered voice makes him immediately straighten out, all the tension leaving his body at once.

“Easy, Mikey,” comes Leo’s voice emerging from the shadows. “It’s just me.”

Mikey grins, fingers finding the bars of the cage and curling them around them, pressing himself closer to get a better look at his brother.

“Leo. Hey. What’re you doing down here?”

Leo has his satchel slung across his shoulder, reaching in to rummage around it, he brings out something small wrapped in brown paper.

“Risking my shell,” he says dryly. He hands Mikey over the parcel, peeling it open to reveal a few slices of bread. His mouth goes wet almost instantly.

“Thanks,” Mikey says in a rush, already picking bits off to stuff into his mouth. “How’d you know I was down here?”

Leo closes his bag, stepping closer, Mikey can see the worry that crowds his face.

“Well Bradford loves a good brag. Said something about whipping your butt during training. Father also told me not to expect you back in the room tonight so…” his voice trails off. He looks forlorn, wringing his hands together anxiously. “I wish you wouldn’t get yourself into so much trouble all the time, Mikey. It worries me.”

Mikey swallows down the bread. It’s bland and plain but it settles something in his stomach.

“And I wish you would stop calling him Father,” he says, tone icy.

Leo bristles. “Don’t say that.” He says. “He only does this because he cares. He needs us to be safe, Mikey, this is all to keep us safe. You know that.”

Mikey shifts. He looks down at the paper, spotting a few rogue crumbs, he picks at them uselessly.

“It doesn’t feel that way,” he says miserably. “Not when I’m getting my shell waxed by that… bonehead Bradford.”

Leo makes a face. “How hurt are you?” He asks, gesturing for him to turn around so he can have a look.

Mikey does so, pressing himself up against the bars as best he can, he can feel Leo’s hands tenderly inspect his shell.

He tuts and Mikey slowly turns back towards him again.

“A hairline crack,” he tells him disappointedly. “You’re lucky it will heal on its own. Anything more severe and you know they wouldn’t let you out to treat it.”

oh absolutely not, from what i can tell @shelbbswrites is a lovely person & writes about some of my favorite ships & i'd like her to keep writing so i can spiral about jiara in the near future.

as for who fucked the fandom, well. girl. the blog whose gif was linked, @/opponentsheir, is the one who knowingly, willfully fucked the fandom last summer.

it was circa mid-late May 2022 and here was the jiara tumblr fandom, struggling to get through the drought by the scraps of bts we'd scrounge up from filming. blurry ass photos that make you concerned for a tourist's ability to hold their water as they drink, random selfies that tell you next to nothing, and then the occasional "omg this is BIG how does this make sense how does it fit in but omg it's BIG" crumb.

times were rough, bts were tight, and the unsuspecting jiara tumblr fandom was hungry. unbeknownst to us in comes OH who decides. let's have some "fun" let's liven up the jiara fandom because it's clearly dead (false) and idk im bored besties let's play a hehe silly joke! at first, a few handpicked jiara blogs get random anonymous post submissions and each blog has like 2-3 different posts that are all supposed bts leaks. it's never-before-seen photos of what we can only presume are s3 bts. almost all of these blogs were in a jiara discord server together so the photos weren't shared because wtf who is trusting us with these clear leaks we don't want them to stop though. so we sit on these, we get excited, we spiral, all that fandom stuff that we had already. been. doing. but yeah here's a few more bts crumbs to have fun with. then a few weeks later when, to OH's surprise, the fandom hasn't reacted like she wanted, freaked out over her "leaks," hasn't posted them on every platform ever to give her the attention she feels she deserves, she decides oooh let's send more! this isn't sociopathic at all!! and then bam there's a second round of anonymous post submissions followed up by an anon ask sent to one of the blogs saying "you can post them, this is the last you'll get because i've reached my max photoshopping ability do not contact again" (also pardon but how tf are we supposed to contact you if you're anonymous).

ANYWAYS the leaks: we're talking blurry, random characters - sarah, pope, rose, jj and pope, kie, a random dude by a fire, and then jj having his beat-up face held by hands that look just like kie's hands.

and sure enough, we spiral! an actual face hold??? on our screens??? fuck yeah! cannot wait for s3!!! jokes on us we're getting so much more but yeah!!! we're theorizing we're writing whole ass fics we're speculating we've got a discord emoji we've got everything. a few hours later the leaks make it to jiara twt and THEY go wild too. i mean who tf wouldn't? you're starving for content and some mysterious source decides to drop you leaks. like yeah hindsight is 20:20 and who was going to potentially violate an NDA for this, but still.

fastforward several months and now OH is back because i guess she got desperate for attention again and feeling "important" or whatever. she goes on anon and says hey btw those leaks were fake ha ha isn't that funny, here's the photos i used linked here and here and omg isn't this just hilarious bestie such a good time man i love the jiara fandom being active again because god i was so BORED and man i just wanted more fics and edits and omg look it worked i mean i've done it before and i'd do it again (or some shit like that idk i dont have the wherewithal to go look it up and get it 100% correct but yeah, she admitted to doing it for funsies)

rightfully so, the fandom is fucking pissed. it isn't *fun* to get manipulated, it isn't *fun* to get manipulated into making new content???? that we don't get fucking paid to make???????? fuck you?????? you don't manipulate an entire group of people for SHITS AND GIGGLES that's literally sociopathic shit babe, go get help please. so yeah she fucked the entire fandom over Summer 2022 and did it because "i'm bored i want content" like fuck all the way off.

oh and side note: another anonymous poster tried to say oh i know who it is, but also i'm not going to tell you because you guys are clearly mad at her and i don't want you to take it out on her, i know her and it's ok she's ok. like i'm sorry. the fuck? don't insert yourself into this stupid sociopath's deranged manipulative plan. because guess what bitch, we've got detectives in this fandom and while OH never came off anon like the coward she is, the fandom was able to put it together & not only determine her tumblr but also her twt so when she tried a fucking round three several months later with "oh i found these on reddit but the post disappeared hehe" we all saw through that shit a mile away.

Would a potential writers strike actually affect Stranger Thinks production at all? The fact that the actors are all over the place for scheduling (unsurprising, they're all amazingly talented) it's very doubtful they will be filming episodes chronologically. Schedules have to be created from scripts in order to say who would be on set which days so wouldn't that mean all the episodes are written already? They've had since 2020 to work on the episode outlines (the part that takes the longest amount of time). The writing of a script from an outline usually only takes a couple of weeks (per the Duffer Brother's own masterclass lessons). Writers room may only have re-opened SM accounts last year after S4 aired but I imagine this far into the series run, writers room should just be airing out the final kinks with each ep under one/two writer's care.

It’s standard practice to have the writers still writing the final episodes while starting to film the first ones. The Duffer’s did talk about this within the last year and basically confirmed it is usually the case for them, admitting the writing process for s4 was unique bc obviously they had a lot of time on their hands to focus on it with the hiatus.

They started filming s4 in Feb 2020. Hiatus put filming to a halt, I think it was March 8th 2020 or sometime around then. Then in June they posted a picture of the s4 scripts complete. And filming didn’t start up again until Sept/Oct 2020. So it still took them another couple months, even with hiatus, to officially finalize writing those last episodes, despite starting filming already.

I think Noah’s comment about the first three scripts a couple months ago (right?) could mean that at the very very least the first three were quite finalized at that time, enough to warrant sharing with the cast to prep.? By now they could have up to the 5th-6th more finalized at least. But maybe more?!

When it comes to the writers strike, I honestly can’t say for certain.

I would hope with how hands-on they are in including fans by informing us about certain milestones in the production process (they will definitely announce when s5 is officially in production on their social media), that they would disclose how this could affect s5, if a strike does in fact come into effect.

I would hate it if the strike started and they just went MIA for a month+. I know the longest strike in recent history was like 3-4 months I think? So that’s a fear that I have I guess, of them just disappearing and not even giving us crumbs to go off of in the mean time for fun.

But the duffers are also show runners and producers and directors, so I wonder if that means they’d just use them in place of the writers while filming? It would really just come down to solidarity and wanting to stand beside the people supporting the strike, which I assume the duffers fully support, so would they even undermine the strike and work despite it? I don’t know honestly.

Best case scenario, if a strike does happen, perhaps they would focus on the most fleshed out parts they already have written and don’t need rewrites for. Early s5 scenes are also what they are gonna prioritize filming anyways bc when it comes to marketing and promo they need that stuff filmed before the rest so they can have spoiler free content to share sooner than later, whereas only filming like the major stuff near the end, would mean little to no promo with canon content for them to share as time goes on. I mean, have you ever seen an official trailer use mostly later content from the season to promote it? It’s not unheard of to have some later stuff thrown in, but more often than not it just works out bc they don’t want that later stuff to be spoiled before the early stuff.

The promo we get the soonest will likely be from scenes in the first few eps so I do hope that with all things considered, there’s a possibility they could get the ball rolling and film a few things. Especially if they had so much planned out while filming s4, like s5 opener I could see being something they want to get out of the way asap especially if they have that the most fleshed out with concrete plans set in stone more than like a random scene near the end of the season, which still warrants some edits and doesn’t need to be finalized anytime soon anyways.

With how active they are rn, posting every Friday with a little assignment for the fans, has me hopeful they are planning ahead and don’t have the intention to step back and disappear even in the worst case scenario? You’d think they are aware of the worst case scenario rn and yet they’re just keeping it simple and having fun. And all the while filming rumors are already starting.

I’m not trying to stress about it bc it’s out of anyone’s control unless they manage to meet an agreement that’s worthy of not striking. I support them regardless of my bias to have ST start filming asap. Writers and a lot of aspects of this field deserve to be compensated for their hard work and I stand by that. If it takes a strike to make them get some results, so be it.

I haven't really expanded on Four in this AU, so I'll give you a break down on them :) For a while, I was pretty stumped on what to do with them. At first I was going to make them a shadow creature, like Shadow, but I changed my mind and made them a minish. They're just a little guy.

Minish who live inside cities or towns usually live inside the walls of hylian's homes. If all goes well, the hylians will never know they're there. They discreetly borrow anything they need, and in return they do little things to be helpful, like maybe cleaning up crumbs from the counters, or darn up a hole in a sock. Just little things that won't be noticed. Minish are a very secretive people. Even if the home they live in is occupied by a magical creature, they won't give any sign that they're there.

Minish are able to take on a more hylian-like form, although they're always remarkably short in said form. Most don't spend a lot of time as a hylian.

Four's family has been living in the wall of Time's mansion for several generations. Time knew the family was there, but he didn't want to scare them away, so he pretended he didn't know. It eventually became just Four and their grandpa living there, after Four's parents passed.

Four's grandpa got very sick for a couple of months, so Four had to go out themselves to collect food and things the two needed. They were still pretty young and inexperienced at the time, so they got "caught" by Time, who just helped them get the stuff they needed and let them go.

After that, Four started to show themselves to Time on purpose. Their grandpa didn't like that, but there wasn't really anything he could do. He was still too sick for the two of them to find a different place to stay. By the time Four's grandpa got better, it was clear that Time was fine with them living there.

He even gave Four a regular sized room for them to stay in if they wanted to. Four doesn't use it very much, and mostly keeps trinkets and their latest projects stashed away there. Since he's started hanging out around Time more often, Four's become very interested in metal smithing. Four's family already had a business in making weapons for other minish. Now Four has access to a forge, (after they asked Time very nicely, the god installed one on his property,) and they're is fascinated by hylian weaponry.

Revisiting the motocross boys. I was glad to share things for them this past December.

Are there any pieces that are going to be challenging your writer brain in a good way?

My way overdue challenge fics for @darkficsyouneveraskedfor and @sweeterthanthis for a couple of reasons! For Roo, it's going to be on the darker side and will either be a long one-shot or broken up into parts. The challenge is to keep my readers on edge and surprise them, even if some other stuff may come across as cliche.

For Lau, I have an ending in mind and over 2.4k of the story written, but I need to execute it so it isn't completely convoluted on top of some of the angst.

I see so many wonderful challenges and I've failed to keep up when I've signed up. My plan this year is to follow through should I decide to sign up for any or simply boost if I don't have the capacity so I don't let them down.

Projects that are resurfacing that maybe you thought had lost some of their momentum?

I don't know if I necessarily lost my momentum, but I have the next part of modern knight!Bucky written and plan to share soon.

Part of me wants to revisit our tattoo boys, but not sure how many would be intersted.

An issue I have is my excitement. That sounds funny, but I sometimes post an AU or idea almost right away, but I don't have a set schedule or timeframe in mind for the rest. I'm sure it's frustrating to some of my readers. I appreciate those who stick around.
