[id: an extract from doctor who and the pirates. it reads: "SALLY: Good never wins out in real life. Love never conquers all. There's no such thing as happily ever after. EVELYN: That's not true. Oh Sally, you must see that's not true." /end id]

[id: an extract from the husbands of river song. it reads: "DOCTOR: No, I don't. Not always. Times end, River, because they have to. Because there's no such thing as happy ever after. It's just a lie we tell ourselves because the truth is so hard. RIVER: No, Doctor, you're wrong. Happy ever after doesn't mean forever. It just means time. A little time. But that's not the sort of thing you could ever understand, is it?" /end id]

I do what I do, because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind. It's just that. Just kind. If I run away today, good people will die. If I stand and fight, some of them might live. Maybe not many, maybe not for long. Hey, you know, maybe there's no point in any of this at all, but it's the best I can do, so I'm going to do it. Favourite book?
ooohhhhh ok this is hard. the short answer is it depends on the day.
the long answer is here's an incomplete list of books that i love and why i love them.
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - Adult fantasy book about Kvothe; a boy who grows up to be the most notorious wizard the world has ever seen. The book follows him as he tells his life story, from when he was living with his parents troupe, to his time as an orphan, to his time under another wizard's tutelage, to his time at The University. Honestly this book is unlike anything else I've ever read, just in the way the story is told and the ✨ vibes ✨ . It's a part of a trilogy, with the second book being The Wise Man's Fear, and the third book being... unreleased. For years. I don't know if the third book will ever come out lmao.
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston - LESBIANS ON TRAINS WITH TIME TRAVEL. I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE YOU WANT FROM ME.
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (Specifically the version illustrated by Chris Riddell) - Ok I'll be honest with you all. I love Neil Gaiman. Like an unhealthy amount. And Neverwhere sums up exactly why I like his stuff. It follows Richard, the most average, boring Londoner you've ever met, as he falls into this magical world of London Below. There's weird markets, there's angels, there's an evil assassin duo from another universe (kinda), there's rats, there's strange little girls named Door, there's magic upon magic upon magic, and it's full of signature Neil Gaiman weirdness.
Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo - This is hands down the best YA fantasy that exists. A band of morally grey criminals go on a heist to break into the nation's highest-security-impossible-to-break-in-to-you-will-die-if-you-even-try military stronghold. There's witches! There's romance! There's dyslexic characters, there's gay and bi characters, there's disabled characters, there's curvy characters! These books have literally everything! The plot rocks! The character interactions are awesome! Please read it and when you're done you can watch the show!
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon - Queer. Feminist. Fantasy. With. Dragons.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid - Don't let the title fool you, this book is not about straight people problems. (The opposite actually. Wink wink nudge nudge.) It tells the story of fictional 60's actress and it-girl Evelyn Hugo, and the complicated, oftentimes messy life she led. Taylor Jenkins Reid's characters feel like real people and her books have a way of giving you this glimpse into scandalous celebrity life that we all secretly want. I see you, don’t pretend you’re above the gossip. Idk man just go read it I promise you'll devour it in a day.
I can promise that there are more, but I probably need to stop because otherwise this post will be way longer than anyone asked for lmao. Also if anyone wants to ask about favourite tv shows, movies, video games etc I'd love to answer your questions.

Did Belos have a hard time with his sexuality when he first arrived to the Boiling Isles?
Absolutely.
I mean, he was kinda lucky, because he's ace and demiromantic, so he only had to start thinking about his sexuality/questioning it after he got somewhat used to the Boiling Isles and began to move away from Puritan ideals/beliefs.
At first, his only emotional connection was his brother, who is, obviously, not an option. Then he slowly grew to trust Daphne and started to care about her/feel some emotional attachment to her as well, but she's a woman, so he wouldn't have felt any attraction to her either.
The first time he felt romantic attraction was after he already spent a couple months (if not a bit longer) on the Isles, when he opened up to the idea of befriending other witches. He started to feel attraction towards one of his guy friends, something he's never felt towards anyone else before, and it completely shocked him.
He was still queerphobic at that point and not happy about witches just being openly gay in public (though he did learn to tolerate it), and his thoughts were like "well, at least my brother and his partner aren't like that" (he was wrong btw, Caleb was bi and Daphne was pan)
So, naturally, once he realized he was attracted to a man, since it would've been seen as wrong by the Puritans (himself included), and it was also the first time he felt attraction like that, it freaked him out.
I imagine him running back home and yelling at Daphne, asking her what spell she had put on him, since he wouldn't want to believe this was natural to him. Daphne would tell him it's not a spell and is natural, after which he would break down crying, because he was still religious and thought it made him a bad person.
Caleb would hug him and at first try to convince him there's nothing wrong with it, but since biases/internalized bigotry don't vanish because of one conversation, eventually he would just say "Even if you are a sinner, you are still my brother, and I love you". Caleb himself was also figuring out his sexuality and learning to accept it, though he started thinking about it earlier, since he was bisexual and thus felt attraction more easily and towards more people.

Hi Nemo! I hope you have a nice dayI hope this doesn't come across as weird, but I was scrolling through your artworks, and I love them all, especially your AC ones. the Jacob and Dottie one you did (the one where he is holding her with his cane) was so gorgeous, I hope you'll finish it someday. I hope this doesn't come across as weird or pushy, but it gave strong EviexRick vibes, you know, from "The Mummy". Ever thought of drawing them like that? Because they both fit the characters so well!
Nonnie. Your Brain. Your whole brain. ISTG, your ask made my day this morning, when I saw it in my inbox, and I knew that as soon as I had a moment of free time today, I had to draw them.
I just had to.
Tumblr media
Like, FUCK YES.
(also, Jacob just discovered the excerbation of the brain during the mummification process.)
I mean, I think that overall, Evelyn and Dorothea have in common the whole being absolute bookworms about specific topics (Ancient Egypt for Evie and the Arthurian Legends for Dorothea), and the whole relationship that Rick and Evie share is somewhat similar to what Jacob and Dorothea had in that artwork I did a while ago (and also in my story, if I ever manage to find a moment to finish writing the chapter when they meet, fml).
BUT GODS.
I can see the dynamic you mentioned, and I think it can partially be applied to them, at least from the first movie (I am not sure that Dorothea would be as action prone as Evie is in the second one, but for sure she would be a mama bear for her child and her husband.)
but anyway, THANK YOU FOR SENDING IN THIS ASK, AND MAKING MY DAY.😭😭😭😭
(also sorry, I don't really have much time at hands, so I tried to do the best I could with this).

"Is... that my shirt you're wearing?"
"Is...that my shirt you're wearing?"
Evie glanced down at herself and back at her new husband. "Yes."
Rick sat up on an elbow. "And you're wearing it because...?"
"It looks nice on me," Evie replied. She struck a pose. "Don't you think?"
The light cotton shirt did, in fact, look excellent on his otherwise naked new wife, the tails falling to her thighs and the long sleeves rolled up to her elbows. Rick grinned.
"It does look nice on you."
"And it smells like you, too," Evie said, tilting her nose to the collar. "It's like having a part of you with me on my walk from bed to the toilet."
Rick laughed with her, and held out his hand. "Come here."
Prompt questions here! Send 'em along; I am at loose ends today.

Books I read in august my rating and opinion!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The secret history - Donna tartt 5/5
Wow this book is one of my favorites I cannot believe how amazing the writing the quotes and everything was it took me kinda long to finish ( 6 days lol)
I’m still heartbroken and thinking about the characters
Go ask Alice - anonymous 3/5
Well this is a book that is basically a diary entry about a girl who’s a drug addict . It was short though, boring at times nothing interesting at all but it’s a great representation for teens who go through addictions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The stranger -Albert Camus 4/5
Well this book I got to admit it’s lowkey boring , doesn’t erase the fact that I enjoyed it a lot .
It’s a philosophical Novel about a man who got himself involved with a murder after the death of his mother . The ending got me thinking a lot of things
The virgin suicides -Jeffrey eugenides 4/5
This book was so good I loved it , made me sad tho the male gaze<<<
Violet bent over the backwards grass -Lana Del Rey 5/5 i loved this book despite the fact that it was short . I loved the poems here , though i do think she has better lyrics /lines. Most of the poems inspired some of mine . I loved salamander never to heaven and my bedroom is a sacred place .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sputnik sweetheart-murakami . 2/5
Actually idk why I didn’t liked the book the plot just felt bland and boring I’m a big fan of murakamis books though not of this one .
After dark -murakami 4/5
I actually loved this book , fast paced and it was told about one night and two sisters so interesting and had a great ending
My year of rest and relaxation- otessa moshfegh 4/5
I loved this book , it’s not for everyone it was so interesting ( imo it was better than the bell jar considering the bell jar has racist remarks ) the main character was a bad person , still found myself relating to her life and her depression etc.the character development tho and the end ugh it got me sad kinda .
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Defy me - tahere mafi 5/5 ( the fifth book of the shatter me series ) ugh I cannot describe how much I loved this book Warner and Juliette had me sobbing at 3 am I literally cried sm I cannot get over this I’m gonna cry even more when I read the last book this is not ok , all of their backstories :///
The lonely city -Olivia Laing between 3 and 4 stars
So this book is a collection of essays about loneliness ( if ur a depressed bitch I’m sure you’re going to enjoy this ) it didn’t only talked about loneliness but loneliness throughout art and artists like Andy Warhol , Edward Hopper, and Henry darger. I enjoyed it but it got boring at parts though.
I CANNOT PUT ANOTHER PICTURE BUT
The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo 5/5
god i finished this book today I’m heartbroken the ending and the plot twist was insane this book was beautifully written PLEASE GO READ IT RN!!!!!!!

35. filthy
(( Here you go, @ricochetoconnell! Hope you enjoy! ))
Tumblr media
Dust and dirt were a constant reality in the desert. No matter how many times Rick wiped at his face or dabbed his brow, the gritty feeling remained. What he wouldn’t give for a hot shower or a cold glass of water to ebb the scorching heat.
But there was one upside to working on a dig with his new wife: Evy, too, carried her fair share of grime. Sand flew out of her hair when she shook out her ponytail. She touched her forehead and a streak of dirt remained. Filth lodged under her fingernails.
Evy’s bright smile remained. She made every moment worth it — especially when Rick thought he wouldn’t have anything else worth living for. Even now, when she bounced over to him, wrapped a sweaty arm around his shoulders, and pulled his head into a kiss.
Rick grinned against her. “Done for today?”
“The workers say it’s time. I want to keep going, but…” Her voice trailed off, and she shrugged. “It’ll be dark soon.”
“We’ll return to it in the morning.” Rick cupped her cheek. “You’re filthy, you know.”
She poked his stomach. “You know what they say about being filthy, don’t you?”
He raised an eyebrow.
“That getting clean is the best part.” She tugged on his hand. “Are you coming, Mr. O’Connell?”
God, he hoped he would be soon. “Of course, Mrs. O’Connell.”

Evelyn Evelyn Sentence Starters
Starters taken from the 2011 album Evelyn Evelyn. Change pronouns as necessary!
"Of course, I'm always here."
"I'm frightened. It's that time of year again, isn't it (name)?"
"Tell me once more how it happened."
"Hush now, we don't talk about that, because it makes us sad."
“Why do we bother to stay?”
“Why are you running away?”
“Do you feel like severing everything?”
"Everything's just come together at last."
“It’s broken, I don’t want to play.”
“We grew up closer than anything.”
“What if they find us?”
“They’re not looking anyway.”
“Fill my glass, let’s drink a toast.”
"This is our birthday, so why are we weeping?"
"At your side I feel like a ghost."
"I wake up first, and I stare at you sleeping."
“A parasite needs a host.”
“I’m only trying to do what is best for us!”
"You're always trying to be somebody else!"
“I never asked for this, I never wanted this! All that I want is some time to myself!”
“You never listen, you’re always insisting I just stop reminiscing!”
“Please get away from me, please just stop touching me.”
“I just want you there with me!”
"I just want my privacy!"
“God, won’t you leave me alone?!”
"God, can't we just get along?!"
“We take Visa and Mastercard, Debit or cash!”
“Isn’t it nice that they’re being so nice to us?”
“If I’m not mistaken, I think they might like us!”
“Aren’t we lucky to be here?”
“Stop moving, they’re taking a picture!”
“Take off your coats, and just guess what the wind blew in!”
“They’re so well-behaved, not a single complaint yet.”
“I don’t know whether I should charge double or triple!”
"They sing timeless new songs rife with double entendres!"
“Dang, she’s gone and wandered off again!”
“I’ve been looking high and low.”
“Where oh where’d my sister go?”
“I ain’t seen that girl today!”
“Is she dead in a ditch somewhere?”
"Is she playing a trick on me?"
"She's been known to spend some time, with a sailor friend of mine."
"Did that ho-bag quit her job and run off with that dickhead Mike?"
“Take comfort, my sisters and brothers, the chicken man will come!”
“What’s she catching?”
“How they loved her in those early days!”
"During chores she never had to help."
"All her uncles drove her out to play."
“We would see them kissing on the lake.”
“Will she be soaring over the sea?”
“We’re all getting older.”
“What will they do with us when they are through with us?”
“What are we sailing for?”
“Three days later, she was gone.”
“You’re sad and in a cage but that’s irrelevant!”
“That won’t do for me, you understand?”
“Everyone gets jealous when they see me riding by.”
"How could I feel blue?"
"I've got my sister at my side, and an elephant to ride!"
“There’s so much you can learn, when you’re on a pachyderm!”
"The pet for me is something much more grand!"
“Life’s not so bad, it’s swell of it to give me such a friend!”
"Still, your eyes keep wandering back to her."
“Let’s get one thing straightened out here, sir.”
“This ain’t no two-for-one bargain here, mister.”
“I’m much more than just twice-shy.”
“If you look beneath the surface, we’re as different as can be.”
“There’s just one heart that beats for you, and that heart belongs to me, and not to her.”
“I need to know your love is real, but how?”
"You can't imagine just how much I miss her."
"She doesn't even know your name, she's going with some other guy!"
"We're all dressed up, the flowers are so pretty."
"Nobody suspects that it was me who put the Dran-O in her coffee."
"Now I know your love is true for sure."
"I just had the most terrible dream."
"Remember, everything is going to be better soon."
"Well, you can stay here, but it ain't gonna be free."
"Just think of all the friends we're going to have!"
"Well, it's hard enough to know where you're really supposed to go.
“They look at you like you’re a freak.”
“It’s a struggle just to stay alive.”
“Everyone stares, but nobody ever sees you.”
"You go searching everywhere, but the feeling never leaves you."
“You can’t always want what you get.”
"You want somewhere to hide where everyone can find you."
“There are plenty other acts like you.”
"Some people say the future's past."
"We're going down in an electro blast."
"It's a big bad world out there."
"You're crying out to find your friends, turn around and they are gone again."
"I just want my friends all together in one place."
“I just want to go, where nobody knows my name.”
“I just want My Space.”
"Love will tear us apart again."

Why did MC choose medicine and become a surgeon? And what parents think about such a career?
mostly because they can legally dissect people as a surgeon 💀 honestly, you will be able to choose your own reasons for that.
their parents would've been proud of the MC for being in a high position of the medical field. stephen would be happy because his child seemed to carry on the excellency of their bloodline by being a talented surgeon at such a young age. evelyn would just be happy that MC is doing something they are passionate about and that they (apparently) genuinely like helping people.
grandma dorothea was also super supportive about them choosing to pursue medicine after getting their UG degree from stanford. she knew that they were capable of making it big in the medical field since they were smart enough for that. she didn't live long enough to see the MC actually become a full-fledged surgeon but she'd be proud of how far they've come nonetheless.
