Tolkien or H.G. Wells or J.D. Robb, and just like of likes the letter J? So A.J. Crowley it is. And it never occurs to Aziraphale to actually ask what the A.J. stands for until the Romantic Professional Getaway, when Crowley gives his name as Anthony to or is called Anthony by someone else, and Aziraphale’s like *math lady meme* and 1941 church dialogue.

I'm a PhD Candidate in English and Women's and Gender Studies working on a dissertation on nineteenth-century American working-class women, queer pleasure and possibility, and mass-popular literature. As part of my project, I've spent a lot of time in archives reading 19th C. story papers and dime novels, genres of degraded literature that were incredibly popular among factory and mill workers but that have received very little scholarly attention. What's fascinating is how similar this mass-popular literature is to fan fiction--not just in its sensational plots and queer elements (sometimes there really is just one bed in the cabin), but especially in how it was consumed (often in serial format, shared amongst exuberant, fannish communities who even had their own shipping wars in the letters to the editor columns!) and in how it was critiqued (before Anthony Comstock came for pornography, he led a whole campaign against this kind of literature as "perverting" and tending to promote "evil reading"). Although I'm a fan myself, I know that one person's readings can never fully capture the wide variety of responses and interpretations that a whole group of fans and consumers can have, which is where you all come in! For the final chapter of my dissertation, I'll be serially disseminating chapters of a short dime novel for a group of participants to discuss in a private Discord to explore the creative possibilities of fan reading practices.

Subscribe to the (free) email newsletters of the national newspapers of record, multiple of them to catch the spectrum. Do the same for your regional, specialty, or local papers, especially the dailies and the ones that are not tabloids or conservative rags. Tune into their daily and weekly news brief podcasts and shows.

Contribute to their circulation count by actually reading and listening to their coverage. If you means to do so, actually subscribe to these papers; journalism and news reporting requires financial support. If their reporting or coverage is insufficient or does something you don't like, consider writing a letter to the editor complaining about it; if their reporting or coverage is fantastic and does something you do like, considering writing a letter to the editor highlighting it.

Some of you act like news reporting comes out of thin air and keep giving credit to memes and Twitter reposts, then don't contribute any credit or support to the journalists and organizations that actually did the reporting in the first place. There is constant eulogizing about how journalism, local newspapers, and print news is dying—that reporting of non-conservative political leaning is getting smothered—and then absolutely none of you put any effort into getting your news anywhere that isn't a Supernatural meme.

in the time its taken me to respond to this after the other inbox prompt, i actually started working on something new lmfao, which is just a silly one shot where i throw my desire to be comforted after a closing shift onto vex so i can have percy comfort her <3

LAST:

He glances at the rough-hewn analog clock hanging on the wall — an old gift he made for Vex, one of his first clocks, that she’d brought when moving in — to see that it’s about 10:25pm. Vex’s shift ended at ten, but he’s not incredibly concerned; she usually gets out late, either finishing her own task or helping someone else, and the commute itself is fifteen minutes by Vex’s… well-loved (nearly falling apart) motorcycle. 

NEXT:

It’s after about half an hour when he’s broken again from his fixated haze of concentration by Trinket — Vex’s very fluffy, very large, and overall very grizzly bear-like dog — heaving up from where he’s been laying against Percy’s legs.

(for context, vex hasn't actually shown up in the draft of the work one-shot yet, so i'm gonna skip ahead a bit in my outline)

"Hello, Trinket," Vex murmurs as she walks through the door to her precious dog's wide grin and wagging tail. She kicks off her shoes, letting them clatter randomly in the entryway with every intent to arrange them neatly letter. She lets her bag fall from her barely-mustered grasp to give the boy some scratches behind the ears, tiredly mussing the fur around his jaw like Vax always does.

He trails after her happily as she drifts towards the couch, which she collapses onto face-first as soon as she's within range. The last of the tension from the past nine hours finally relents, and she feels all of her muscles finally relax.

"Well, Trinket, it seems like your mother has fallen victim to the couch once again." Percy's voice is muffled by the throw pillow her face has sunken into, but not enough to mask the fond, faux-dramatic tone that she adores so much. She lifts a heavy hand to flip him off upside down, and he laughs openly in a way that he really only does at home (or when he's drunk).

Two hands pick up her legs where she'd left them hanging off of the edge of the couch, and gently move them to rest fully atop the cushions. There's a dip in the middle seat as Percy joins her, and then he softly takes the hand and folds her middle finger back down before pressing a light kiss to her knuckles.

"I won't bother asking how work was," he says dryly, and Vex laughs into the pillow.

January

my most popular edit was this vegaspete set i made for @spicyvampire ♥ i actually like it a ton! but my personal favorite from this month is my bad buddy characters + the real 5 love languages set. i like the meme a ton and i loved how the set turned out (+ for me, it's super funny).

February

my most popular edit this month was the toddblack differences edit i made for @i-got-the-feels ♥ it was a very different type of edit and i'm very happy ppl liked it this much. personal favorite is this jimmy(sea) set for the varitda mv he/they appeared in. i loved the aesthetic of the mv and i feel like i captured that very well.

March

the most popular edit in march was my akkayan + one direction piece dedicated to @fitfmybeloved ♥ i think i need to make something else with a similar style sometime. my favorites would be the puen & talay's top 10 outfits edits which technically happened in february and march. i had a ton of fun with them and i honestly adore looking at the results.

April

my birthday month! the most popular creation was my beyond evil edit which was interesting to make according to @nongnaos's request ♥ i had never edited this show (or any kdrama) before and i also struggled a bit with figuring out the layout. it's a very simple set but felt fitting. my favorite this month would be this puentalay set made for you antania ♥ it took a lot of time, especially all the coloring, but it was worth every second! (special mention for my sea bday set which i still cannot believe the bday boy actually saw and liked on twt ;; i love him so much!)

May

i think it's very deserved that my most popular edit in may was this puentalay one for my our skyy 2 episode edits series. it's for the first vice versa episode and tbh also my personal favorite out of all those episode edits i made ^^ the coloring just worked super well there. my true favorite of the month was the pran's life anthem edit i made for @pransobrave ♥

June

as is fitting for pride month, my most popular edit and also my personal favorite was my our skyy 2 couples edit where i tried to describe all of their different loves through the colors of a rainbow. it was a lot of fun to do!

July

the most popular edit this month was the pran set i made for @punpunsutatta ♥ i had a lot of fun with this one bc i got to try some new things with it. personal faves and my peak as an editor (in my own opinion) were the two puentalay edits i made this month. this sam smith song inspired one i made for you zey ♥ i adore the layout and the colors, it makes me think about vintage images and letters. and this other one was born bc the quote haunted me. i love the pink in it a lot, it's so soft.

August

for august, i felt like i was making a ton of things even if i didn't have the energy or the time. in reality, i didn't make that many but i made a couple of very big sets. one of them and the most popular one this month was my winteam set made for @jimmysea ♥ making it took some research and then i had to go through the episodes a little while i searched for the fitting scenes. personal favorite was this akktheo set bc it turned out looking very cute. i think it captures their feeling as a couple and their story well. special mention for my jimmy bday set bc i poured my heart into it ♥ i love this man so much (and i currently wish he is fine and gets well soon, he's apparently in the hospital ;;)

September

things got hectic in september as i started my internship and had to travel around a lot. i was too tired to do much else but work and study and watch dramas without any brain. that's why i only made two edits. my most popular set was my last request edit for my event. it was patpran with the lyrics from ford arun's song come closer and made for @celestial-sapphicss ♥ i love the colors in this so much. personal favorite, only barely, is still my puentalay + 8 types of love set. i had a blast making it as a kind of collab with @dimpledpran who made the patpran version!

October

made only two edits (or well, one cut into two parts) in october too due to being very busy and tired. they were quite big tho bc i used a long while gathering material for them. it was its own type of research project when i wrote down all the times puentalay told each other 'i love you' without saying those exact words to each other. i struggled with the layout too as mimi can probably remember :'D but i love these sets a lot so they're both my favorite and most popular ♥

November

finally in november last twilight came to save all of us and so it's no wonder i created a lot for that during this month :'D i honestly wished to make more but i was still mostly busy with my internship and with starting my thesis. my most popular one was this last twilight trailer edit. i think it was fun to kind of make it similar to my mock trailer edit all that time ago. my personal favorite is the mork + linkin park edit that probably caters to only myself lol. am honestly obsessed with each song mentioned in this bc i can see it with mork so well. it was a relief to get that one out.

December

haven't really had the time to dive as deep into last twilight and make as many edits for it as i'd wanted due to using most of december to catch up on sleep and all the studying i couldn't do during my internship, but hopefully now i'll have more time to devastate yall ♥ the most popular post was this last twilight + random tweets thing and my personal favorite is the only morkday quote edit i've managed so far. i love the colors and the whole concept to bits, and cannot wait to make more ^^

Run BTS: 051 | 50th Episode Special part 2

Synopsis: Divided into teams to complete various challenges whilst on rides at an amusement park.

Production: Overall, great choices of games/rides. The boat ride set the bar high for a great episode. Obviously there was a logistics issue with lighting on the flume ride, so it's a shame they weren't prepared for that requirement or didn't have a different plan in place but they made it work. The last game isn't explained very well. it seems like they were each given a card with letters on it to memorize and only when they recite them together, does is actually make a phrase. The editors this ep were on point though, the timing of the cuts and the sound balancing while playing the song Run? so good!

Endearment: There's a reason why there are so many clips and memes from this episode. it is just good wholesome (kinda evil) fun. This is the quintessential definition of what a Run episode should be.

Winner: RM, YG, JH

Loser: V, JK

Best Cheater: V for trying to confuse JN and JM after their memorization game. JK joins in with the RM, YG, JH team but V def did it first.

Member Moments:

RM: Poor RM, he could have done so well with the boat clues but alas.

JN: Jin is such a cool guy. He lets himself shout and scream his fear during the rides but he's always up for another go with no shame. What a role model!

YG: The YG, JH, RM bit on the boat ride had me smiling from ear to ear. Hobi's always giving us great moments as the loudest coward but Yoongi is right there with him this time.

JH: Hobi not feeling his chin during the coaster! Usually, i lose feeling of my legs during rides, not my chin! lol

JM: Jimin explaining why he didn't ride the last coaster again. he's so precious!

V: Ahh, V's choice of pose for the bubble gum bit made it hard for the crew to see and cost them points. what a shame.

JK: Did y'all hear that absolutely musical wahoo on that last ride right when he stops memorizing the card?? oh JK, main vocalist for sure!!

Bonus Content: With such a great ep, it's no surprise the bonus content was great as well. def worth a watch!

EU Warns Elon Musk to Behave Ahead of His Donald Trump Interview and Musk Is Not Having It

The EU demonstrated how despotic and authoritarian it was again, but this time, it made the mistake of trying to flex its muscles on Elon Musk, a man with all the tolerance for authoritarianism of a founding father in 1776. 

It all started when European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services, Thierry Breton, posted an open letter on X, effectively telling Musk that the EU will be watching his upcoming interview with Donald Trump and that there had better not be any hate speech or insinuation of violence or else the EU will have to take action against Musk. Breton said that many people within the EU will be watching this interview, and as such, Musk has a responsibility to not say or do anything that might give Europeans the idea that hate and violence are okay. 

Breton threatened to use "our full toolbox, including by adopting interim measures, should it be warranted to protect EU citizens from harm" should his Trump interview produce “any negative effect of illegal content.”

Musk's response was very Muskian, as it should be because this situation calls for a real 1776 comeback to such a 1984 demand. 

"To be honest, I really wanted to respond with this Tropic Thunder meme, but I would NEVER do something so rude & irresponsible!" said Musk... who proceeded to tweet the Tom Cruise-laden Tropic Thunder meme.
