no i got things to say about gun x sword
-genuinely sad the opening did not commit to the bit of silhouettes revealed and remaining silhouettes if the characters had died. ray dying broke my heart but i think he should have remained a silhouette in the opening after his death, but at some point the anime stopped doing that and it’s a real shame bc i thought the way it initially did things was sooo fun
-didn’t expect to like ray so much but he’s a foil to van in a way that gradually became really pleasing. also him thwarting the claw’s plan, even temporarily, was super satisfying!!!
-the claw was such a good villain. trying to suss out why things don’t add up with him, what people say about him vs what he’s doing. meeting him in person, being underwhelmed, baffled, cautious and temporary insane about how things don’t make sense before coming to the conclusion that he’s actually insane so the dissonance is… intentional? he clicks in a way that’s really great to process tbh. like the good intentions he has just don’t work with his logic, he doesn’t seem to realise he killed people when he gives them hugs, and doesn’t really care if people die so long as his dream is fulfilled?
-it’s a little embarrassing to be in denial about his blatant madness, and i should have figured it out sooner, but ngl he flummoxed me for episodes bc people couldn’t hate him and apparently found him so charismatic that they joined his cause??? so i. convinced myself that there was going to be this super complicated reveal that would explain his bizarreness in a convoluted way, that would explain everything… and the simplicity of it being. he’s just insane, actually. so much more effective.
(-knives out glass onion with benoit blanc going “you’re not smart! you’re just stupid!!!” is the closest comparison i think i can get but it’s just… wasn’t satisfying for that movie, (i did like the movie, tho, with nitpicks) whereas gxs… me coming to the realisation about claw… sometimes as the audience, you doing the legwork is what makes the figuring out and making it make sense satisfying??)
-i really like that van wastes no time killing claw in the final episode. bc we’d seen something similar with ray, who also wanted revenge for the death of his wife at claw’s hands. claw talking and being dismissive. we’d seen in the previous episode, van and the claw talking, in which the claw repeatedly calling van an idiot. it was clear that they were never going to get through to each other. so van quickly cuts him in two, and honestly? so fulfilling. so satisfying.
-found myself shipping van/pricilla and joshua/wendy. ofc they didn’t end up together, but i’m super relieved van/wendy didn’t happen either and they remained platonic til the end.
-ngl van kinda inexplicably hating joshua soooo much made me laugh so much! it’s so mean and i love both characters but it’s hilarious
-i kinda do like wendy vs her brother michael and her telling him off bc she explored the planet with van and gained new experiences
-docked a point for the fan service tho
-i’m not… particularly happy about michael once he sleeps with his teammate tbh? idk how i would have written it but… uh… not like that tbh?
-honestly the story is nothing new but the characters are so fun and likeable and that matters more tbh! ngl my attention span wandered at times but when it was good, it was very very good
-but also i liked that van wasn’t solely motivated by revenge. not like ray. ray lived for nothing else but revenge, but van… as cranky as he was, still had connections to the living.

Page 4: Alex Rodriguez struck out with fiancee Jennifer Lopez after she discovered his hot-and-heavy direct messages to a long string of women -- their four-year romance went foul after Southern Charm's Madison LeCroy publicly admitted she'd been in touch with A-Rod and Jennifer found out he'd reached out to other beauties through social media and Jennifer had had enough
* Concerned mom Jennifer Garner is struggling to cement her relationship with daughter Violet now that the 15-year-old is barreling through the turbulent teens -- Jennifer said the heartbreak is just that she's growing up at all and it's heartbreaking for the mom and for the teenager, needing to have that kind of severing of this baby-mama tie
Page 5: Chris Brown's spacey social media posts about aliens have close pals concerned about the R&B crooner, including his once-battered ex Rihanna -- Chris is obsessed with conspiracy theories and all things supernatural
Page 6: Disgraced Felicity Huffman is fuming about scuffling for plum parts while rumors swirl fellow felon Lori Loughlin has already been invited back into her old TV series and Felicity can't understand why she is being forced to go through the whole audition process while Lori seems to be welcomed back with open arms -- though she hates to do it, Felicity feels the only way she can get attention is to do a tell-all interview about her humiliating part in the scandal -- Felicity has scored a part in the ABC pilot Sacramento River Cats, though there is no guarantee the project will make it onto the air, but insiders and fans of the hit Hallmark series When Calls the Heart have all been filling the internet with talk of Lori's rumored return -- Felicity believes the only way to get public sympathy is to spill her guts, even though all she wants is put the scandal far behind her
Page 8: Stressed Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon has been packing on the pounds as his talk show continues to battle with Stephen Colbert's Late Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live in the late-night ratings and Jimmy has been partying and pigging out to find any comfort he can as Tonight continues to trail the field in total viewers and Jimmy is over 200 pounds for the first time in his life and it's because he's overindulging to compensate for the show's struggles and Jimmy and the gym do not mix even though he had a full fitness center installed at his New York apartment years ago
* Debilitated diva Liza Minnelli's 75th birthday party turned into a disaster when her frail physical condition alarmed friends -- celebrity pals also joined a virtual bash for the legend, even though Liza insisted she didn't want a big fuss and Liza's manager threw the small dinner party on her birthday and about eight people, including Joan Collins, attended in person and several other friends, including Barbra Streisand, recorded video messages and performances for Liza but before the party, Liza was in such bad shape she told friends that she didn't want to participate or be seen on camera -- in the end, Liza, who's undergone multiple surgeries and struggled with substance abuse for years, agreed to join the gathering at the L.A. home of her longtime protege Michael Feinstein and Liza sang but she didn't look well and her voice is shot to pieces and she was propped up in a chair and barely moved from it because she can't walk well anymore and during a live chat during the party the hashtag #FreeLiza started to pop up and not everyone meant it as a joke and there's a feeling certain people have taken over her life and longtime friends have been frozen out and they fear she'll never appear in public again and they won't see her again before she dies -- when friends saw the videos the next day they were upset and very worried, saying Liza really appears to have declined
Page 9: Angelina Jolie has fired a shocking new salvo against ex Brad Pitt over custody of their five youngest children and her latest court documents allege domestic violence and even worse, some of the nearly dozen papers Angie just filed offer up a few of the kids to testify against their dad and Angie is now claiming she can offer proof and authority of domestic violence but Brad's lawyers are expected to respond with a vehement denial -- with the newest court filings, all of which are sealed, Angie is determined to get full custody of the kids and Angelina has fought tooth and nail to get what she wants in this divorce and when it comes to her kids she won't back down
Page 10: Hot Shots -- Farrah Abraham in a bikini, 50 Cent chased away his thirst with a drink at an Atlanta eatery, Natasha Lyonne of Russian Doll was on her game while playing chess on the NYC set, Selma Blair met up with a pal in Studio City, Reggie Bush showed he's still in fine form during a Mexican vacay
Page 11: Gwyneth Paltrow isn't above using a little goop to smooth out the age lines -- the lifestyle guru recently admitted to resorting to a teeny drop of Xeomin, which claims to be a uniquely purified choice for frown lines, to help her look less pissed off but she also admitted her history with fillers hasn't always been happy and she had a midlife crisis when she turned 40 and she went to see this doctor and it was a disaster and she was bruised and her forehead was completely frozen and she didn't look like herself at all -- she also admitted she believes there is still a lot of shame around surgery or injectables or fillers and it's like admitting a vulnerability -- she said she thinks aging is hard and when you see your face start to change, you don't necessarily feel your most beautiful, externally, but the irony is it's that time in your life when you actually really like yourself and love yourself
* Wendy Williams' handpicked hunk Mike Esterman has better buckle up because the daytime diva has already mapped out their future, and he's in for a wild ride -- Wendy boasted she chose her Maryland-based beau after receiving hundreds of submissions to her Date Wendy segment, but she's aiming to renovate the contractor and it's all about image, stylists and bodyguards for Wendy right now and she's already got a reality show in the works for them, a TV crew and photographers trailing them everywhere and his-and-her makeovers too -- she's gone from zero to 60 with this guy in a matter of days
Page 12: Straight Shuter gossip column -- Miley Cyrus is going country after her last two albums tanked -- Miley offended her core audience with her outrageous behavior and punk sound and she's signed with a new record label and the plan is to reintroduce her to the country audience that loved her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, and once loved her -- Miley's behavior has overshadowed her talent for years and her new team will guide Miley back to her roots in the world of country and finding the right sound should be easy but can Miley find the right behavior
* Gayle King owes her glow on CBS This Morning to a new makeup artist and after being tended to by a fill-in makeup artist and told she looked better than ever, Gayle quietly dismissed her longtime makeup man but there's an unspoken code of ethics in the pro makeup world that if you're asked to replace a longtime client's makeup person, the appropriate answer is no
* The Sex and the City reboot isn't all cosmos and roses -- Sarah Jessica Parker was the show's executive producer, giving her much more power than her co-stars, but Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will also executive produce the reboot and there's already tension -- sharing power is hard for anyone who's been the boss for years and it isn't one big happy family
* Rachel Brosnahan gets some puppy love on the set of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (picture)
Page 13: The knives are out for self-appointed queen bee of The Talk Sharon Osbourne after she was exposed as TV's meanest host -- the salty motormouth has been accused of a barrage of racist and anti-gay zingers, forcing the gabfest to go on hiatus while CBS investigates the claims -- former host Leah Remini claimed Sharon would frequently refer to then-co-host Julie Chen, who is Chinese American, as 'wonton' and 'slanty eyes' and Sharon also reportedly referred to her out lesbian co-host Sara Gilbert as 'p--sy licker' and 'fish eater' -- in a tweet, Holly Robinson Peete implied Sharon's racist comments led to her leaving the show -- Sharon also chased Marie Osmond on the show last fall and tried to take it over after Julie Chen quit in 2018 -- Sharon has denied all claims against her -- Sharon's big personality is central to The Talk, but some of these allegations, although none have yet been proven, are the kind of remarks that could be career-ending
Page 14: Crime
Page 16: Demi Lovato's shocking admission that she continues to puff pot and swill booze after multiple rehab stints and a near-fatal drug overdose has pals and addiction experts convinced the singer is courting disaster -- she dropped the bombshell in a recent interview and claimed indulging in those vices has helped her fend off more serious addictions and the chronic depression that has dogged her entire life -- Demi came very close to dying three years ago after she overdosed on opioids and it triggered three stokes and a heart attack, and a lot of people were terrified she would never recover and her friends are convinced she's put herself right back on the same self-destructive path -- Demi claimed she was sexually assaulted by her dealer on the day of her almost-fatal OD and when her assistant found her unconscious and surrounded by vomit following the wild binge, she was naked and she was blue and she was left for dead and she had unknowingly taken heroin that was laced with the powerful drug fentanyl
Page 17: Devastated Lisa Marie Presley is finding comfort in the arms of her first husband, Danny Keough, after their son Benjamin Keough's suicide -- Danny has given her a shoulder to cry on and he's the only one who can understand the despair she feels after losing Benjamin -- Lisa Marie has been inconsolable since Benjamin died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and she's moved in with Danny in Woodland Hills, California and she's also struggled with substance abuse and the stress of an ongoing divorce battle from fourth husband Michael Lockwood -- although her marriage to Danny ended in 1994, he's remained close to the family, working as a driver and handyman for their actress daughter, Riley Keough and Riley couldn't be happier that her dad has been so helpful to her mother and it's taking a full team to keep Lisa Marie together and Danny was definitely proven he's still on her team
* The sudden death of Bobby Brown Jr. remains shrouded in mystery as the 28-year-old's autopsy report was placed on a security hold following a request from the LAPD -- the namesake son of Bobby Brown and his ex-girlfriend Kim Ward lived with his famous father in Encino, California, where the singer found him responsive -- Bobby Jr. has been doing drugs with pals and insiders suspected he was deliberately dosed with a fatal cocktail of booze, cocaine and painkillers
Page 18: American Life
Page 19: Tina Turner is using a new documentary about her life as a final farewell to fans after the R&B icon was rocked by a string of physical and mental health woes including the crippling effects of a 2013 stroke -- the eye-opening documentary Tina is a love letter to her millions of supporters and the punctuation mark to a life defined by startling professional success and heartbreaking personal catastrophes -- Tina admitted she's had an abusive life but at a certain stage forgiveness takes over -- in the documentary Tina confessed she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and has frightening flashbacks of being savagely beaten throughout her hellish 16-year marriage to the late Ike Turner and Tina's current husband, German music producer Erwin Bach, even compared his spouse to a shell-shocked soldier -- more recently, Tina has been battered by health crises after suffering a stroke in 2013 and being diagnosed with intestinal cancer three years later, mere months before her kidneys failed and Erwin donated one of his own to save her life -- Tina knows the end is near and this film is truly her last encore
Page 20: Match Game -- a round up of male and female celebs who look astonishingly similar, despite their opposite genders -- Sophie Turner and Boy George, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, Timothee Chalamet and Natalia Dyer, Tom Cruise and Tig Notaro
Page 21: Melissa McCarthy and Ricky Gervais, Eva Marcille and Terrence Howard, Bret Michaels and Fergie, Josh Hartnett and Clea DuVall
Page 22: Katy Perry sparked rumors she had finally taken the plunge with longtime love Orlando Bloom after she was seen sporting a suspicious gold band on her left ring finger while vacationing in Hawaii
* Scott Disick has confessed baby mama Kourtney Kardashian is the reason his relationships fail -- the reality TV slacker revealed his now ex-girlfriend Sofia Richie felt neglected because he spent more time with Kourtney and their three kids, saying it's definitely not easy that they see each other, work together and are friends but he's always been clear that his priority has been his kids and he even put it out there that taking care of Kourtney is one of his priorities
Page 26: Reality star fixer-uppers Jonathan and Drew Scott are sweating bullets over a lawsuit filed against their Property Brothers show by unhappy clients and the stress over the scandal is wreaking havoc with their personal lives -- Las Vegas couple Mindy and Paul King filed suit against Cineflix, the company that producers Property Brothers, and Villa Construction, a local contracting company, alleging they did a shoddy job repairing their home after the couple forked over $193,000 for renovations -- though the twin brothers aren't named in the lawsuit, they were concerned it could smear their reputations and upset their ladyloves -- Jonathan is close to marriage with actress Zooey Deschanel and Drew is wed to Linda Phan, who is the creative director for their company, Scott Brothers Entertainment -- they're both mortified by these allegations and they don't know what to tell Zooey and Linda, other than they will be cleared when the truth comes out but they're terrified that the bad press could derail the show -- Paul and Mindy answered a 2018 casting call and said they were assured all the work would be HGTV quality but Paul said that the place looks good from afar, but it's far from good and the Kings griped to the Nevada State Contractors Board, citing more than 90 complaints with the work ranging from unmatched baseboards to potential hazards -- as the case plays out, the brothers have been rattled by the controversy and they are stressed that this very public case is calling their work into question and there's a fear more people will come forward with similar charges
Page 28: Cover Story -- a top-secret psychological profile of Prince Harry's wife Meghan Markle paints the former actress as a mentally unstable ticking time bomb who couldn't cope with playing second fiddle to senior royals -- the explosive evaluation unmasks Meghan as a pathological liar and bipolar narcissist with histrionic personality disorder but the jaw-dropping findings about Meghan, who's pregnant with a sister for son Archie, don't surprise palace sources as Meghan's tears, tantrums and extreme mood swings had staffers terrified what she could do or say next and she was consumed with ambition and jealousy -- she married Harry expecting to be the royal superstar, but instead learned she'd always be second to his brother Prince William's wife, Duchess Kate and Meghan couldn't stand that she and Harry would always be in their shadow and wanted to destroy her in-laws but no one expected her to lob a nuclear grenade into her husband's family in a no-holds-barred TV special
Page 32: Health Watch
Page 34: Cara Delevingne confessed she used to be disgusted by same-sex relationships and was suicidal before coming to terms with her sexuality -- the model, who has dated actresses Michelle Rodriguez and Ashley Benson and singer St. Vincent, said she was trapped in a dark place and afraid before she publicly admitted to liking members of the same sex -- she said she grew up in an old-fashioned household and she didn't know anyone who was gay and she didn't know that was a thing and growing up she wasn't knowledgeable of the fact she was homophobic and she continued that the idea of being with same-sex partners, she was disgusted by that, in herself -- Cara, who identifies as pansexual, explained her sexual orientation is constantly changing and added she was so unhappy and she wasn't following her truth, that whole thing of having to fit into the box, she's an androgynous person
* Don McLean wants his decades-younger girlfriend to have the wedding of her dreams and he's set aside $1 million for the big day -- the American Pie singer has been dating model Paris Dylan for five years after an ugly divorce from second wife Patrisha Shnier -- Paris is totally unconcerned by the enormous age gap between the 75-year-old singer and 27-year-old model and wants to spend the rest of their lives together -- Don's going all out making sure she has the wedding that's fit for a princess and he's spending an absolute fortune, giving Paris the best of the best in terms of the venue and the food and the one-of-a-kind dress and Don's given her carte blanche to plan it however she wants, and people are expecting a seriously over-the-top affair
Page 36: Singer Andra Day turned to method acting to play jazz icon Billie Holiday, and it's paid off with an Oscar nomination -- Andra revealed she dropped 39 pounds and took up drinking and smoking to prep for the title role in the biopic The United States vs. Billie Holiday -- Andra doesn't recommend smoking and drinking, but she did it because she was just desperate for her first role -- Andra, famed for writing and performing the song Rise Up, also sings in the movie as Holiday, and changed her singing voice to reflect the music legend's pain
* Hollywood Hookups -- MTV reality stars Jenna Compono and Zach Nichols secretly tied the knot and their first child is due in August, Larsa Pippen is dating Myles Kronman, Ashley Jacobs and Mike Appel engaged
Page 38: Cindy Crawford said posing for Playboy was a snap compared to acting in movies -- Cindy said she really regrets starring in the 1995 bomb Fair Game, where she played a lawyer fighting a former KGB spy -- she said she never wanted to be an actor, but a producer begged her and he kept upping the price until she thought she'd be an idiot to say no, but she should have said no, or prepared herself better -- the experience taught her she's very comfortable in front of a camera, but only when she's being herself
* Former American Idol judge Randy Jackson is half the man he used to be and he couldn't be happier about it -- Randy has dropped a whopping 130 pounds to head off potentially deadly effects of his type 2 diabetes and did it in the healthiest ways -- he wrote in his book Body with Soul, it's a curse to be saddled with a disease that's life-threatening, but it's a blessing to get that huge wake-up call -- Randy admitted to crushing the scale at 358 pounds before getting gastric bypass in 2003 but now exercises and eats right and he's ditched sugar and gluten and he wants to be an example for other obese folks and show them they can get healthy and stay that way
Page 40: Tom Brady did an end run around fuming wife Gisele Bundchen by signing a four-year contract extension with his new Tampa Bay Buccaneers team after winning the Super Bowl -- the 43-year-old quarterback promised Gisele he would hang up his cleats after the upcoming season since winning last year's championship but changed his mind after snagging his record seventh NFL title with the Bucs -- Gisele is both angry and astonished because they had spoken about him finally settling down to be a full-time father and husband, but he can't stop chasing glory on the field and Gisele was stunned by his decision to re-up for another four years while the two were discussing expanding their brood and they had planned to have another child after buying their dream house on Indian Creek Island in Miami and they were even drawing plans for a nursery, and now that Tom's done a complete turnaround, everything is up in the air; it's caused some serious tension in their marriage

‘Sucker’ Punch: The Behind-the-Scenes Players to Launch Jonas Brothers’ First No. 1 | Variety
The trio's manager, A&R and label chief explain how an authentic thaw in sibling relations led to a strategy of silence, then shock and awe.
March 11, 2019 by Chris Willman
America is collectively a sucker for the Jonas Brothers again — or at least that’s the strong indication from first-week results for their comeback, a full decade after the trio last had a top 30 single. “Sucker” just became their first song ever to top the Billboard Hot 100, and the first by any band to debut at the top of the chart in more than 20 years. According to Buzz Angle Music, the first seven days for “Sucker” racked up a combination of 30 million audio streams, 16 million video streams and 88,000 digital sales, on top of a fast radio start that found nearly every pop station adding the tune.
How’s it possible one of the biggest phenomena of the late 2000s never had a No. 1? Back in their original heyday, radio and older fans were both mutually suspicious of any act coming out of the Disney camp, no matter how massive the ticket sellouts or record sales (they had four straight platinum or double-platinum albums, if you count the “Camp Rock” soundtrack). Ten years later, pent-up fan energy is meeting no such gatekeeper resistance.
“As big as they were previously, they’ve never seen this kind of chart action, which is pretty wild at this point of their career,” Monte Lipman, the chairman/CEO of Republic Records, tells Variety. “They were an arena act, but in terms of the traditional record flying up and down the charts, they never had that. From the outside looking in, I was always intrigued by their success and thinking about what would happen if they had a record that stormed the charts on top of all of that, like they do now. So we’ve been having a blast.”
Crucial parts of the campaign: “Having Nick’s and Kevin’s wives and Joe’s fiancée be a part of the video was really powerful, and that visual provided a lot of fuel at launch that was beneficial to the whole campaign,” says Phil McIntyre, founder/CEO of Philymack, their management company. “And the platform of James (Corden, whose show featured the Jonas Brothers for an entire week) was phenomenal and made for great, fun content that travels.” The “Carpool Karaoke” was even revealing enough about the brothers’ personal story to make up for a lot of interviews they could have done and didn’t. But prior to the video and Corden, the perhaps even more critical component in the plan was… silence. “It was definitely part of our strategy, to try to keep it under the radar, and it was helpful that it stayed there,” says McIntyre, “because we were totally expecting that it wouldn’t.”
“As hard as it is to keep a secret in 2019, especially when you’re three of the most followed guys online,” says Republic’s EVP of A&R, Wendy Goldstein, “they did a great job at keeping it quiet. And the Jonas Brothers as a band may have been dormant, but their individual development and success probably contributed to amplifying excitement. They’ve been out there for six years in the public eye, but not as Jonas Brothers,” she says. “It was the perfect tease.”
Adds Lipman, “Because when you think about the marketplace, nearly 150,000 new songs are made available every single week, and the greatest competition we’ve got right now is that sheer volume — the static, the noise. So in this case the best thing to do was almost the opposite, something without any messaging, and literally just drop it out of the sky — and ka-boom, it’s the loudest bang you can create.” But everyone was concerned the secrecy could be blown at any moment. “Any time the guys were ever seen in the same room together, the rumors started flying. So there was a lot of denial, absolutely.”
Plausible deniability, though, because the Jonases really did have another reason to be in one another’s company — a documentary — and the recording was an outgrowth of the unofficial on-camera therapy sessions undertaken for that.
“A year ago, we started making a documentary with just the intention of telling what an incredible story these brothers have of taking this journey together and growing up in the public eye together as a family, and the ups and downs of it,” says McIntyre. “And it was not to necessarily make new music or anything like that. So it unfolded in the most authentic way possible, and I think that’s part of why there was an element of surprise, because for the most part when they were seen together, most people thought it was for the documentary.”
When did a documentary shoot turn into a resumption of the Jonas Brothers as a commercial and artistic enterprise? “I would say it was toward the end of the summer last year,” McIntyre says. “Because we probably did four or five different trips with the brothers: They went to Australia where Joe was shooting ‘The Voice.’ They went to Jersey and to a couple other locations, and probably after the fourth or fifth location, they had sort of processed through so much of the things that tore ‘em apart earlier in their career, and just started to get honest with each other. And there’s a magic to when they’re together, and as much success as anyone’s had on their own solo journey, it doesn’t necessarily compare to what they’ve experienced as brothers. So it was toward the end of summer that they started to have the conversations around it, and it was at that point that I said, ‘I’ve got to get with Monte and talk through this.’ Because in my mind, there was only one place to do this, and that was with Republic. I just knew that they would they would be able to nail it.”
Finding a new label home for the Jonas Brothers, many years after their departure from Disney’s Hollywood Records, wasn’t a stretch. Republic had had Joe’s interim project, the group DNCE, and been jointly involved with Island Records on Nick’s solo career.
Lipman says he didn’t offer any preferences for which stylistic direction the Jonas Brothers should take their new music, once he was brought in. “Monte Lipman? No,” he chuckles, as if the idea that he’d get personally involved in their A&R is a laugh. “I learned a long time ago just let them let them do their thing. The cool thing about working with the Philymack camp in particular and the Jonas Brothers as their partners is that when they come to the table, so much of it is been vetted, and ‘Hey, this is the way we’d like to present the music. This is the aesthetic.’”
But Goldstein did get highly involved as recording continued — and had a strong preference when it came time to pick a single out of the supposed two albums’ worth of material the trio has recorded. “There are some really powerful bangers ready to go,” she says. “But ‘Sucker’ just had a vibe. It felt like a great way to come out. I think everybody agreed on that.” After her persuasiveness, anyway. “There definitely was a debate as far as what the first look would be,” says McIntyre,  “and to Wendy’s credit, she was the one who said, ‘I feel strongly that “Sucker” is the right first sound and first song.’”
“Sucker” is much more akin to the dance-oriented material Nick and Joe have done in the interim years than the guitar-based, power-pop sound the brothers played in the 2000s. At recent “secret” shows in New York and L.A., the group sounded like they did in the first part of their career — that is, like a straight-up, heavy-on-the-hooks rock band — and they rearranged the one new song they played, “Sucker,” just enough that it fit in with the guitars-and-live-drums ethos of their old sound. But that may not be an indication of where the eventual album will be headed.
“Creatively, they’ve evolved, as any artists would after a decade,” says Goldstein, not quite willing to commit them to a genre. “I don’t think it’s tied to any era in particular. They were adamant about making an honest, real and somewhat raw comeback. They draw on their history together, but it’s an exciting new chapter.” McIntyre is a little more committal about how fans shouldn’t expect the new material to exactly revive the 2000s: “I would say that you will be able to see and hear the influences of what Joe did in his solo career and what Nick did in his solo career come together in a very natural way.”
It was a good time for the brothers to reunite, personal reasons aside, because although their solo endeavors had kept them somewhat in the limelight — Nick as a solo artist and Joe with DNCE had both made the top 10, and had ongoing success on the dance charts — neither had had such an ongoing run of hits that a resumption of the brother act would seem like a step backward. Nothing was guaranteed: The last time the Jonas Brothers tried coming back after a layoff, in 2012-13, on an indie label, the media and radio weren’t much interested, and their personal disagreements took such a toll that a planned album and tour were canceled as they officially broke up. But clearly a few years of their absence as a collective made the public heart grow fonder.
“They were part of a lot of people’s most influential years, of their childhoods or beyond,” says McIntyre, “and so I think that the timing of them bringing those positive, good times has resonated, and people appreciate them now for being the soundtrack to their lives.” Plus, there’s the small matter of the song being good, “so we do get the opportunity to get a whole new audience that isn’t there for nostalgic reasons. It’s very much a two-pronged strategy.”
As for an album, “We’re working through the timeline now,” McIntyre says. “I think everybody would like to get it out as quick as possible, so I would look to the first half of this year.” As for a live return, the brothers had 35 minutes of material very solidly rehearsed for their secret El Rey show last week, but the nature of a tour is still under discussion. Picking up where they left off at the height of their careers, in arenas, has been part of the conversation, but so have more modest venues. Nick leaves this week to shoot a “Jumanji” sequel, which may put a slight speed bump in those discussions.
Will the documentary, done in partnership with Amazon, come out simultaneously with the album? “As of right now they’re separate things,” McIntyre says, “but we’re looking at it. Because as you tell this story, you realize that so much of the story revealed itself through the process that then led to the music. So we’re playing with just how to kind of roll out the two bodies of work.”
McIntyre says some healing had gone on before work on the documentary started, but the filming process caught any sense of alienation further breaking down. “I think that they are like most families out there — that they had touched on the issues enough to be able to move forward, but they didn’t really get into it,” says the manager. “They didn’t go into the depth of where the hurt was each one of them really felt in those moments, and being able to articulate it and explain it to each other. That was a discovery along the way of making this. It wasn’t something that we knew was there, necessarily; it was once we got into it, we sort of all looked at each other and were like, ‘Wow, there’s a lot of layers to this that need to be discussed.’”
Lipman also says the documentary will further reveal that the reunion “is not a marketing ploy. It’s not anything that was calculated. It wasn’t a money grab.” But if they’re able to mint some out of the finally refreshed brotherly love, that will be a significant Jonas bonus.

Dipper, Spider-Ham, Zane, and Benny!
(note; I can’t post any pics here because my laptop is acting weird so I’ll be just skipping the “favourite picture of them” part)Mason “Dipper” Pines;Favourite thing about them - how he’s able to put others before himself - as many people pointed out, he often does things for others (whenever forced or not) that cost him things he wanted (also, I relate to him so often I lost count after about the 3rd episode)Least favourite thing - I dunno, probably how he tried so hard to be appreciated that he put others in danger (I don’t find it to be that bad, but he really needed to work on it)Favourite line - “Look, real life stinks sometimes, ok, I’m not gonna lie. But there’s a better way to get through it than denial, and that’s with the help from people who care about you.” or “If you’ve ever taken a roadtrip through the Pacific Northwest, you’ve probably seen a bumper sticker for a place called Gravity Falls. It’s not on any maps, and most people have never heard of it. Some people thing it’s a myth. But if you’re curious, don’t wait. Take a trip, find it. It’s out there somewhere in the woods, waiting.” brOTP - him and Mabel, him and Wendy, him and Soos- you know what? pretty much everyone who he’s on good terms withOTP - probably DipificanOTP - anything incestious, pedophilic or plain toxicRandom Headcanon - once Ford found out about his real name, he’d call him by it whenever something happened (when they were alone, of course)Unpopular opinion - I really liked “lucky” cap from the 1st episode (ok I don’t know if this is that unpopular but I just wanted to share)Songs I associate with them - anything about mystery or wanting to prove himself
Peter Porker/Spider-Ham;Favourite thing about them - either his cartoony art style or the way John Mulaney brings even more life into the role with his acting - they’re both on top for meLeast favourite thing - most likely his lack of screentime (fortunally the crew’s fixing that with future plans but I still wanna see more)Favourite line - “You’ve got a problem with cartoons?”brOTP - him and Noir (also maybe him and Peni?)OTP - probably him and his dimension’s MJ, but I don’t know enough about the dimension he’s from to be more specificnOTP - anything pedophilic or toxicRandom Headcanon - John Mulaney has a “totem” in every dimension - like the Spider-Totems. He’s super proud to be both a Spider and a Mulaney Totem but if you’ll catch him on the other one, it’ll be a heck of a ride.Unpopular opinion - I’m not a fan of HamNoir mainly because of the age gap (we know he’s about the same age as Peter B…)Songs I associate with them - “I can’t decide” for the stranger headcanons (except “live or die” is replaced with “speak or mute” because he won’t let anyone talk about the Double-Totem thing)
Zane Julien;Favourite thing about them - I really admire how much logic he tries to display even in the harshest Times (sure, he’s a Robot/Nindroid, but it still counts)Least favourite thing - I don’t really like how he stuck with the more robotic look in the later seasons as it partially leaves out his want to feel real emotions (yes, the look is super cool, but I didn’t want to leave a blank just now)Favourite line - “Everyone is different, that’s what makes us unique”brOTP - him and Nya, him and ColeOTP - PIXane (also maybe Cole x Zane, but I’m not sure)nOTP - I haven’t heard of much wrong ships (I just don’t ship them that much), so I don’t think I’ve really got any hated ships for himRandom Headcanon - before finding out he’s not a human, he’d often try to write down just how old he is (he assumed he’s around the same age as the other Ninja, but before the reveal he never got a more detailed date)Unpopular opinion - I don’t really have any if I’m ment to be honestSongs I associate with them - anything about honour I guess?
Benny/Blue Spaceman from the 1980s;Favourite thing about them - how happy he was to finally be able to build a spaceship around the climax of the 1st movieLeast favourite thing - like with Ham, his lack of screentimeFavourite line - “Hi - I’m Ben! But you can call me Benny, and I can build a spaceship!”brOTP - him and Emmet, him and Unikitty, maybe him and Metalbeard?, and him and his space friends (they didn’t get nearly any screentime, but I like to imagine what it’d be like if they did)OTP - him and Lenny or him and MetalbeardnOTP - I dunno - I don’t think I have anyRandom Headcanon - after the 2nd part, he organized a special club for all the people with not-so-popular or shut down hobbies (he hosts it every Saturday)Unpopular opinion - at first I was kinda weirded out by his Systar glasses? I dunno, I like them now but back then for me it was just like… wha?Songs I associate with them - … “Don’t stop me now” when he finally gets to build a spaceship.

Consequences (Part 3- Final)
Series: Super Junior 14th Member AU
Pairing: Minnie/Heechul; Minnie/Donghae
Tumblr media
2018
Have you seen this?
Minnie gets the text message as soon as she turns her phone back on inside the airport. SJ peaks over her sunglasses to see what’s captured her friend’s attention.
“Is it Donghae?” SJ asks.
“No, Leeteuk.”
Kangin perks up. “What’s so important that Teuk can’t wait until you get home?”
“I don’t know.”
There’s a flash of light and Minnie looks up, stunned by her photo being taken. A photographer stands not even five feet from her. He’s accompanied by a shorter man who is holding his phone in her face.
“Minnie, what do you have to say about the rumors?”
“Rumors?”
SJ and Kangin move in perfect harmony, shielding Minnie from the invasive camera and overeager reporter. They aren’t sure exactly what happening, but none of it seems to beheading in a very positive direction. Minnie grips Kangin’s sleeve tightly before slipping her hand in SJ’s. Their presence comforts her, centers her, makes it a little easier to stop herself from panicking. What’s going on? What rumors are there? She hasn’t done anything for there to be rumors… has she?
“Stay close,” SJ demands.
“Keep your head down,” Kangin adds.
“Don’t say anything,” they tell her at the same time. Minnie would laugh if she wasn’t so stressed. She always thought they would make a good couple.
“Did Teuk send anything with the text?” Kangin waves at a new group of photographers, careful to keep Minnie hidden from them.
“A video.” Minnie’s tiny legs struggle to keep up with Kangin and SJ. “Some American talk show from the looks of it.”
“Play it when we get in the car.”
Minnie doesn’t breathe again until the three of them are safe in the car, dark tinted windows hiding them from the rest of the world. Her hands are shaky as she takes her phone out of her pocket. She can’t decide if she’d rather play the video or throw her phone out the window so she can keep living in denial. Whatever is waiting on her in the video isn’t good. It can’t spell anything except disaster.
SJ nudges her gently. “The damage is already done, Jimin. You might as well prepare for whatever it is.”
Minnie nods. SJ is, as always, right. She presses play, part of her already dying slightly from shame. She ended up on an American gossip show.
“Here on the Wendy Williams Show, we tend to focus on A-list Western celebrities. No shade, it’s just the way it usually is. However, a few of my staff members have in interest in the kpop world. They brought up something very interesting in today’s Hot Topic meeting.” Wendy laughs. “Okay, they didn’t bring it up. I was eavesdropping. But it’s still interesting, you all.”
Minnie’s blood runs cold.
“There’s this band called Super Junior. They’ve been around since the early two thousands, primarily men, but there’s one girl.” A photo of Minnie pops up on the screen behind Wendy. Wendy smiles. “Isn’t she cute? Her name is Choi Jimin but she goes by the stage name Minnie. I think that suits her. A cute name for a cute girl. Anyway, she’s been in the band since the beginning and she’s been in this… on again off again MESS with another member.”
Heechul’s photo is shown next.
“That one. Heechul. He announced their relationship through their company in 2016, but here is where it gets interesting. There are whispers going around in the company and amongst their fans that she- Minnie- is pregnant. She took off to Bali recently, even though they have a tour coming up. The thinking is that she’s going to get it taken care of… if you catch my drift. But here’s the big thing. ALLEGEDLY, she’s having this guy’s-“ Donghae comes on screen next to Minnie “-his baby. HE is another member of the band that fans think is in love with Minnie.”
Wendy takes a small break from talking to think. “I don’t know if I believe any of this. Is it possible that two members from a thirteen PLUS member band have the same type when it comes to women? Yes. Do I think she’s sloppy enough to get knocked up and involved in all this drama? No. We did research on this girl, you all. She’s thirty two years old, a very successful business woman- she owns her own dance studio!- and she seems to have a good head on her shoulders from what I can tell. I don’t know, I just feel like if this were true there would be… more.
“More rumors, more talk, more evidence. And there really is NO evidence pointing to Minnie and, uh, this one, the cutie right here.” Wendy points to Donghae. “There’s no evidence they’re anything other than friends. His Instagram as a bit suspect though. Almost every other post is of her or about her, but I still don’t really think that’s proof of anything.
“I think what’s going on is Minnie is with Heechul, but the relationship isn’t GOOD, ya know? And people pick up on that. People pick up on this guy Donghae having feelings- possibly- for Minnie. People want the cute ones together. I don’t believe she’s pregnant, nor do I believe there’s anything salacious going on. Although, Heechul, you need to either lock it down or LET IT GO.”
The clip ends, leaving Minnie wondering what just happened.
“People think I’m pregnant with Donghae’s child?” Minnie speaks slowly. Her brain is having a difficult time processing what she just watched. “People in the company?”
“I’m sure it’s being looked into. You’re one of the president’s favorites. There’s no way he would allow you to be slandered like that.” Kangin puts a comforting hand on Minnie’s shoulder. He hates seeing her so shocked and scared. “But there’s one thing that Wendy woman was right about.”
“What?”
SJ is the one to answer. “Heechul. Have the conversation with him that you need to, but it’s time for him to give you what you deserve or let you find someone that will.”
“I’ll talk to him tomorrow.”
Each of them are dropped off at their own homes. Minnie wanders around the halls of her apartment like a restless ghost as she considers the possible outcome of her conversation with Heechul. They either end up together permanently or they’re finished permanently. There’s no room for a middle ground anymore. Minnie wants marriage, and children, and to wake up next to someone she knows loves her with all their heart.
She pulls out her phone and sends Heechul a text.
To his credit he shows up the next day at precisely nine o’clock. The exact time she asked. He looks a mess though. His hair is messy and his eyes are puffy from lack of sleep. He also looks thinner. Like he hasn’t been eating.
“You don’t answer any of my texts or calls for almost two months but send me one in the middle of the night asking me to be here at nine in the morning!” Heechul scolds her half heartedly. “What am I going to do with you?”
He pulls her in a bone crushing hug, burying his face in her hair. She smells like coconut and sunscreen. Her skin is darker from her vacation. Heechul wants to complain about her leaving so suddenly and with a tour right around the corner too, but he can’t find it in himself. He can’t do anything except hold her like the world will end if she slips away.
“Heechul,” Minnie pulls away. “We need to talk.”
“You said that in your text. What do we need to talk about?”
“Us.” She gestures to her couch and they sit. Minnie is careful to keep an appropriate distance between them. “You know I love you.”
“Yes.”
“Do you love me? At all?”
Heechul scoffs. “What kind of question is that?”
“One I need an answer to! In all our years together you’ve never once said you love me. You hardly show it. I fooled myself into believing you didn’t need to tell me because I just knew you did, but I can’t keep doing that. Do you love me?”
“Yes. I love you.”
Minnie takes a deep breath. She feels light headed, dizzy. “Do you want anyone besides me?”
“Minnie-“
“Please, Heechul, for the love of god just answer me!”
Heechul nods, ready to give her the truth. “No.”
“Then marry me.”
“You know I can’t do that.”
Minnie springs up from the couch with tears in her eyes. “No, I don’t! Why can’t you marry me! Did I force you to say you love me? Did I force you to say you only want me? If all of that is true, why can’t we just be together?”
He can’t meet her eyes. “Do you really want to do this for the rest of our lives? Constantly fight and hurt each other? Do you want to be trapped with me?”
“Not anymore.”
“What?”
“This was your last chance Heechul. I wasn’t looking for you to agree to marry me, but if you showed me you were at least open to the idea in the near future… I would’ve been happy with that even. I love you. It’s time I start loving myself more.”
Heechul clears his throat in an attempt to keep his voice even. “So you’ve finally figured out you’re too good for me, huh?”
“What?”
“I’ve been waiting for this. Minnie- perfect little Minnie- is finally dumping her loser boyfriend because she figured out she can do better. Let me guess, you deserve someone who will give you the white picket fence and the two perfect children. You finally figured out you’ll never get that with me.” His words come out as an accusation. He doesn’t mean it the way it sounds, but he only knows how to mask the hurt behind anger. “So, go ahead and run off to Donghae. I’m sure you’ll make him a very happy Fishy.”
Minnie looks at him, eyes bright with tears. “You’re a real bastard, you know that? All I’ve ever wanted was to be happy with you and you constantly rip it away from me in the most vicious ways possible.”
“You’re an idiot if you ever expected anything else. You’ve known how I am since the very beginning but you still trailed after me like a pathetic puppy.” “Why do you say things like this? I don’t understand!”
“Then go to Donghae who always tells you how much he loves you, how much you mean to him! Maybe you can understand that instead!” Heechul jumps to his feet and grabs Minnie’s wrist. “Maybe you’ll realize your life is boring and pathetic without me.”
“Get out.” Minnie yanks her wrist away. “GET OUT!”
He storms out of her apartment and she sinks to the floor. It isn’t long before she’s sobbing in her living room, rubbing her sore wrist. That wasn’t how she thought any of that would go. She didn’t necessarily expect a happy ending, but she also didn’t expect this.
It’s three hours later when there’s a knock at her door. Her knees ache as she gets up off the ground, still holding her wrist. Donghae is there when she opens the door. He doesn’t even wait until he’s fully inside her apartment to embrace her. His chest is warm and solid against Minnie’s cheek. If she concentrates she can hear his steady heartbeat, lulling her into security.
“Why are you here?” She finally asks.
“Heechul called me and told me you were upset. He said I needed to come to you.” Donghae holds her tighter as fresh tears start flowing. “Hey, it’s okay. It’ll all be okay.”
Minnie tilts her head up, eyes scanning Donghae’s face. He smiles at her gently and brushes strands of hair from her face. She knows she looks like a mess but the way he looks at her is so soft and sincere she can’t help but smile back. His eyes light up when she does so.
“There it is,” he says. “You have the most beautiful smile.”
“Shut up,” she mutters. “I look so ugly right now. I’ve been crying all morning.”
“You’ve never been ugly.” Donghae tilts his head to the side. “Weren’t you on vacation?”
“We got back last night.”
“How was it?”
Minnie hums. “It was nice, but nothing beats being back with my boys.”
“Your boys are happy to have you back. Have you had lunch yet?” He snaps his fingers when Minnie shakes her head no. “Then go sit and I’ll make you lunch.”
She shakes her head again, clinging to him tighter. “I don’t want to let go yet.”
“Then we’ll cook together.”
In what feels like no time at all the two of them are seated on the couch watching YouTube videos together while they eat lunch. Minnie still feels upset over Heechul, but it’s hard not to feel comforted by Donghae’s presence. She isn’t sure if she’s in love with him. That’s something that will come with time. What she is sure of is she could eventually come to love him more than she’s loved anyone else. There’s something about Donghae that’s comfortable. She’s always felt right and complete around him. She’s always been sure he cared for her.
“Donghae?”
He turns his head when Minnie calls his name. “Yes?”
She leans over and presses their lips together. The kiss is soft and chaste, spilling out words Minnie isn’t quite ready to say yet.
“Thank you,” she tells him.

Fix You (part 4)
Tumblr media
pairing- Johnny x original character
rating- NC17 (eventually)
warnings- alcohol, sexual situations, rape mention
genre- smut, angst, fluff
summary- After reconnecting at a party, Johnny is determined to get Jess through her past trauma.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Johnny parked the car in a parking lot in front of a park. It didn't look super familiar but I Knew the area so I was sure I had passed it before. It was on the outskirts of the city, the park was maybe a few yards away from the woods. There was a mulched area with playground equipment immediately in front of us. To the right, the grass started and there was a trail for people to run and walk on. We seemed to be parked at the end of the park and farther out to the right was the rest. There were benches in front of the playground and I could see more along the trail. There were trees all throughout the park, casting shadows as the moon tried to peak through.
I looked over at Johnny, waiting for him to explain why we were here. He shut the car off and leaned back in his seat, his gaze focused on the park.
"This is my special place. It's secluded at night and pretty quiet during the day, except in the summer. I come here a lot when I need to think or just need some time to myself. No one else knows I come here." He said, smiling a little to himself. "This is where I was the night you got your results back."
I slowly looked down at my hands. that night was still fresh in my mind. it was a night filled with both terror and relief.
"I was in such denial that whole week. I hadn't seen him much, the couple times I had, I asked him about it. Told me he didn't remember much. I believed him, I still believe that much. He was so freaked out it was like the world was ending, I guess his was. I just kept being hopeful that it would all go away. Then Doyoung told me you had a rape kit done and the results would be in soon. As soon as I heard that, I started to doubt everything. If it had just been a misunderstanding, you wouldn't be having a rape kit done. Mark wouldn't be absent from practice, Sicheng wouldn't be fighting our teammates."
I looked over at him as he spoke to me. His voice filled with guilt. He stared at the steering wheel, hands still lingering on it.
"The day you were supposed to get the results, I went to the café. I asked Do if Taeil was coming to work that day and he said he was working the night shift. I sat in one of the booths in the back and waited for him. When he got there, I decided I should wait until he was finished with work to ask him. when it was closing time, he came up to me and asked if I needed a ride home. I asked him if he got your results. At first he didn't want to tell me, hospital confidentiality and all that, but I begged him to tell me. I was living with him for fucks sake,  I had to know. He told me what I needed to know and I left. I went home, got my stuff for school and some clothes. I went in his room where he was hiding. He knew about the results, he begged for me to forgive him. I told him I was done with him and that he had two days to get his shit out of the apartment. I put my stuff in my car and drove here. I didn't want to be there while he was there. I would have killed him. I called Ten and asked him if he wanted to move in, he wanted out of his dorm anyway. He said yes, I told him to start moving in in two days. I spent the night here, cried myself to sleep. I didn't go back to the apartment until Ten told me it was safe. I just stayed here. I was heartbroken in so many ways. I didn't know if I could live with myself."
Hearing him pour all this out made my heart break all over again. I felt awful for being mad at him all this time. I knew it was hard on him too, it was hard on all of us. All of our lives had been changed by one night. Of course Johnny wasn't gong to believe that his best friend had done something so fucked up. I wouldn't believe it at first either. I had wasted so much time being mad at him that I could have been loving him.
I reached over and took his hand off the wheel and held it in mine.
"Nothing is your fault. I would have reacted the same way. It's my fault for being so mad at you all that time for nothing. I'm not gonna think about it anymore and I don't want you to either. As far as I'm concerned, it never happened."
He looked over at me and smiled.
"You're way too forgiving" He said.
"should I make you really work for it?" I smirked at him.
He chuckled. "No I'll take this." He turned back to look out at the playground. "Did you ever think we'd be here? Not here at the playground, but with each other, as a couple."
"Mmm, I hoped. To be honest, I never knew you had feelings for me. When I'd catch you looking at me I just thought you were bored or something. I just figured you thought of me as a friend or a sister. Especially when you started dating Wendy." I told him, smirking a bit.
"Ugh. Wendy." He said, throwing his head back into the seat. "That's something I wish I could take back."
"Why?" I asked.  "Didn't you like her?"
"She was cool and all. She was always nice and stuff. I knew she liked me and it was before I knew you had feelings for me too. I figured I should try getting over you, try dating someone else. I figured it was just a crush. I tried really hard to get over it but I just couldn't. That's why I was with her all those months, I figured I just needed time. it didn't matter, I still thought of you all the time. I just felt more guilty about it now that I had a girlfriend. Then I started noticing you looking at me and Sicheng let it slip that you liked me back, I just knew it was over between me and Wendy. I told her I just wasn't into it anymore and she seemed to understand. I think she had a think for Jongdae anyway."
"If Sicheng told you I liked you, why didn't you just ask me out when you broke up with Wendy?" I asked him.
"It would have looked weird. I didn't want her to feel bad if I moved on right away and I didn't want you to doubt my feelings for you. I knew how it would look with me coming right out of a relationship, you would have thought I was a player." He explained.
He had a point. That probably what I would have thought and I would have just turned him down.
"I remember when I first heard you guys were going out. I had heard rumors but Irene told me it was true. She felt bad for me, she knew I liked you. She wasn't sure how to feel since we were friends but Wendy is her best friend. I told her not to worry about it, that I was fine, which wasn't true. I just decided to distance myself from her, figured it would be easier for her. Not that I think Wendy is mean, but I don't think she would have liked it very much if Irene was hanging out with the girl who had a thing for her boyfriend." I smiled bitterly at the friendship I had let fizzle.
"I don't think Wendy would have been pissed, but she did have her moments of insecurity. She used to say all the girls were after me, I don't think that was true. There was definitely more popular guys at that school."
A particular person came to mind at Johnny's statement. He had been so popular with the ladies, yet he never really dated anyone. I wondered just how long he had harbored feelings for me.
"You know Irene has a thing for Taeil?" Johnny chuckled, looking at me.
"Really? How'd you find that out?" I said, surprised.
Irene had already graduated college and was a dental assistant. We hadn't seen much of her since she graduated. Mark was in the same age range as her sister, Joy and her best friend Yeri, so I used to see her every now and then. Our friendship never fully recovered after high school but there for sure was no bad blood.
"Joy spilled it at the party the other night to Doyoung. She saw Taeil walking around and said Irene had the biggest crush on him. She said Irene wouldn't talk to him because she didn't feel like she was in his league." Johnny shook his head.
"Irene said that? She's like the most beautiful girl ever. Well aside form that girl who was a senior when we were freshmen." I said.
"Right? Yoona was like unreal. Don't get me wrong babe, I love you, but I'm quite the fan of Yoona." Johnny teased me.
"So am I. I'd date her. Or Irene for that matter. If Irene told me she liked me I'd go for it for sure. What could she possibly think Taeil's type is?"
"I don't know, but I for sure know he wouldn't turn her down. I mean yeah he's quiet but he's not dumb. He knows a catch when he sees one."
"Hmm. Maybe we should set them up? I do owe Taeil."
"Look at you trying to play cupid." He said, nudging me.
"Hey I can try, it's up to them to make it work." I said, raising my hands defensively.
Johnny just shook his head and laughed at me.
We sat in silence for a few moments, looking out at the playground. I got why Johnny liked to come out here, it was peaceful. I felt special that he brought me out to his special place.
I reached over and grabbed his hand and held it in mine. He looked over at me, almost as if to ask why I did it.
"Thanks for bringing me out here. I know it must have taken a lot to share this with me." I smiled at him.
"I just wanted you to know how serious I am about you. I figured this might help." He smiled back.
"Well I appreciate it. I wish I could show you my special place. It's not exactly available whenever like yours is." I shrugged.
"Can I ask where it is?" He said.
"I know it's not really special or a secret or anything, but its the aquarium. Just something about it really puts me at ease. Really sucks when I'm having a bad night and I can't go there." I rolled my eyes at the ridiculousness.
Johnny smirked to himself, then started laughing a bit.
"What?" I asked, confused. Was it really that funny?
He stopped laughing and turned the car back on.
"Nothing.  I'm gonna show you something, but you have to promise not to freak out." He said.
"Is it bad?" I asked.
"No, quite the opposite. I just don't want you to think of me differently." He explained.
"I'm so confused." I confessed.
"Don't worry, it'll make sense once we're there. Close your eyes, don't open them until I tell you to." He instructed me.
"Johnny, I really don't-"
'Nope! No buts! Just trust me and close your eyes."
I sighed in annoyance but did as I was told.
~~~~~~~~
"Okay, be careful getting out." Johnny said, helping me out of the car.
I still had my eyes closed, still didn't know where we were. I wasn't even sure how long it took us to get here. He grabbed my hand once I was out of the car, and led me somewhere I wasn't sure of. I held his hand tightly, almost completely sure he wasn't about to lead me to my death.
It felt like only mere that we'd walked before he led us to a stop. My heart was beating hard in my chest. I hated surprises. Was this the moment I would find out Johnny was in the mafia? Did he have a secret wife and kids he was about to show me? Was it simply a cute dog? The possibilities were endless.
"Okay, open your eyes." Johnny told me.
(A/N I just realized I'm writing this part while listening to The 7th Sense. Totally by accident but I still died xD)
I slowly opened my eyes, letting them adjust to the light. We were in front of a building, I knew that for sure. Once I could see clearly, I realized where we were. It was the aquarium.
"John, why are we here?" I asked, confused.
"You said it was your special place. So I brought you here." He said, proudly.
"Yeah, but I meant inside the aquarium. It's closed now, doesn't really help." I told him. Wasn't all that obvious?
He reached in his pocket and pulled out a set of keys and held them up for me to see.
"Are...Are those the keys to this place?" I asked, shocked.
"Yup." He beamed.
"Johnny, how did you get those?  Do you work here or something? Won't you be in trouble for being here after hours?" I said, freaking out.
"I kinda, sorta co-own it." He shrugged.
""You what?" I asked, staring at him completely blown away.
"It got to be too much for the owners to handle on their own. They were going to close and the animals would be sent all over the country. I remembered that we came here on a field trip. You just seemed to glow when you were here. I knew you'd be upset if it closed, so I made a deal with the owners." He shrugged.
"How are you able to afford this?" I asked him.
"All the money I get from hockey goes here. My apartment is covered under my scholarship so I don't really have any other expenses." He said.
I turned back to look at the building. This was unreal. My boyfriend co-owned my favorite place and I didn't even know.
"You wanna go inside?" John asked me.
"Is that still allowed?" I asked, worried he'd get in trouble.
"It's not like we're gonna disturb anything. Come on." He said, going to unlock the door.
He led my though the back door so he could put in the code for the security system. We walked through the storage and offices and were finally in with the exhibits. Most of them had the night lights on to simulate nighttime for the animals. It looked so different, almost alarming at night. It was dark, you weren't sure what you might see. Still, we didn't want to turn on the day time light and disturb the animals.
We finally came to one of the bigger exhibits that didn't have night time lights. The water was crystal blue and it was pretty much a giant glass wall for you to see out of. More fish than I could count swam around, living their lives, unaware of the visitors in front of them. Sting rays floated around the bottom and in random places. There were a few small sharks on the bottom of the tank, presumably looking for food. I was in awe of them all, even after being here hundreds of times.
"They're so beautiful." I said, watching the fish swim around.
"They're nothing compared to you." Johnny said, I could feel him looking at me.
I rolled my eyes and stepped closer to the glass.
"I swear it seems like there are always new fish in here every time I come." I said, mostly to myself.
"All the animals here are rescued from failing habitats or zoos that can't care for them anymore. Some are from people who ordered exotic pets and can't care for them. There's new additions all the time. " John informed me.
"Even the sharks and whales?" I asked, curious.
"They usually have something wrong with them that would make it hard for them to live in the wild. Neurological problems, injured fins, saved from whalers or fishermen. Wealthy businessmen assholes who think buying a shark makes them look inferior." Johnny rolled his eyes at the idea.
"That's so cool that they get to live a peaceful life here instead though. They're safe here, they can be themselves. I envy them." I said, getting lost in my own thoughts for a moment.
"Hey," Johnny said, his hand on my hip, pulling me towards him. I hadn't been aware he was so close. "You can always be yourself with me. I'll keep you safe, you can lean on me. You never have to hold anything back, I'm not going anywhere."
I stepped closer to him and placed my arms around his neck, my hands settling in the nape of his neck.
"I know. Thank you. It means more to me than you could imagine." I smiled at him.
He leaned in, closing the space between us and pressing his lips to mine. I gladly welcomed the kiss, my heart feeling fuller than it had in a long time.It was still so unreal to me that this was happening. Here I was, kissing Johnny Seo, in my favorite place, which I could apparently go to whenever, with him of course. Maybe the universe was finally paying me back for dealing me such shit cards up until this point.
Johnny's tongue poked at my lower lip, carefully asking for permission. I granted it to him, completely lost in the moment. His hands gripped at my hips, his thumbs drawing soothing little circles in my skin. I could help but glide my fingers through his hair, melting at the softness. It wasn't long until I felt something press against my pelvis and the kiss had deepened to the point where it wouldn't take much more to get me moaning.
I pulled back, much to his disappointment, and tried quickly to catch my breath.
"We should stop." I said, resting my forehead on  his.
"Sorry." He said, shyly.
"Don't be, I liked it. I just know if it continued, I'd want more than just kissing. It's too soon for that. And definitely not the right place." I smirked at him.
He laughed at me, then placed a chaste kiss on my forehead.
"We should get you home. I'm sure Mark is waiting up. " He smiled at me.
"Ugh, answering to my little brother now. So not my style." I grimaced.
"Maybe you should let him take care of you a bit. You've been taking care of him for so long." He said, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Trust me, he's been taking care of me plenty. I need to set the roles straight again. Let's go before he starts blowing up our phones." I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
"Yes ma'am." He said, pulling me away from my paradise.
"Hey," I said as we were walking. "Thank you for this. It's perfect and I needed it. I needed you."
"You got me babe." He smiled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We pulled up to my house to find Mark, sitting there on the front steps, waiting for us.
"I can't believe him." Shaking my head at my brother.
"He's probably just worried. This is new for him too. If I were I'm, I would not only be waiting up but I'd probably be blowing up your phone too." Johnny empathized.
"Yeah, well I'm sure it was coming." I said bitterly.
John laughed at me.
"Come on, I'll walk you to the door." He said, getting gout.
We walked up to the stairs, Mark getting up at the sight of us.
"I told you not to wait up." I glared at him.
"Yeah well, I couldn't sleep. Sue me." He glared back.
I rolled my eyes at him and turned back to Johnny.
"I had a good time tonight. Thank you." I smiled at him.
"Anytime. Go get some sleep. Text me when you're up, okay?" He smiled sweetly back.
I nodded, then reached up to give him a quick but meaningful kiss. I gave him once last look over, before turning and going up the stairs.
"I'll be in in a minute." Mark told me.
I simply rolled my eyes at him, and walked inside.
3rd Person POV
---------------------------------------
"What are you doing, man?" Mark asked Johnny, as soon as he heard the front door close.
"What? "Johnny scoffed.
"You really think this is a good idea? You think she's ready for this?" MArk questioned the tall boy.
"That's kinda up to her isn't it?" Johnny shot back.
"Don't fuck with me John. You know how serious this is. She's been hld up in this house because of the last guy who had a thing for her, you really think this is what she means?
"Whoa, okay first of all, don't EVER compare me to that pig. Second, I don't just have a thing for her. I love her, you know that. I thought you were okay with this, what's the problem?"
"I never said I was okay with it, I just needed time to process it.  I don't have a problem with you John, I'm just looking after my sister. I can't watch her go through  hell again. I've seen it too many times. "
"Look dude, I know you're just being protective, I get that. But I never, ever want to hurt her. when she went through hell, so did I. You have no idea what it was like for me to see her like that."
"I have an idea."
Johnny sighed and stepped a bit closer to his teammate.
"Mark, you can trust me with her. I finally have a chance with her and I don't intend on fucking it up." Johnny promised him.
Mark sighed loudly, finally succumbing to the situation.
Just make her happy, alright? I just want her happy." Mark said.
"You have my word." Johnny promised him.
------------------------------------------------------
Mark entered the kitchen as I was finishing my glass of apple juice, preparing to head upstairs.
"You scare him off?" I asked my brother, irritated by his actions.
"We just talked. Which is what I wanna do with you." He said, standing across the island from me.
"Jesus Mark, can't you leave well enough alone?" I said, slamming my glass back on the counter.
"Jess, I just want you to make sure you're moving at a pace that's best for you. I know you like Johnny and that's fine, but I don't want you to rush into things. If you're not ready, he'll wait, trust me."
"Mark, I am ready. Trust ME. I so tired of being stuck her and being afraid of any person who simple looks at me. Johnny makes me feel safe. When I'm with him I feel like myself again. For the first time in a year I feel like I can breath, I'm happy. And I don't just like him, I love him. I have since I was fifteen."
Mark nodded, letting my words sink in before speaking again.
"Okay. I trust you. But if he so much as pisses you off or causes an argument, I will destroy him and I'll get Lucas to help." He warned me.
"Thank you. And Lucas? Please do not use him to defend my honor. Call Sicheng to Jeno instead." I said, walking off to my room.
"Hey Lucas is crazy, he'd be helpful." My brother called after me.
I scoffed.
"Yeah, only if you wanna get killed too."
*JUST BACKSTORY EXPLAINING MY AU FOR NOW, NONE OF THIS HAS HAPPENED YET*
I’ve lived a double life for 2 years. At school, I was Craig Tucker, the kid that got too many notes in his locker from girls and guys. I could never let Tweek know about my obsession with him. I must never let Tweek know that the art that WonderFlipOff made from my fanfictions gave me a hard-on because of the faces they give him seeming so in-character.
And then Tweek just had to say to me one day, “Hey, did you know that this person named SuperCaffeineBean writes explicit fanfiction about us?”
hi @taylorswift, i want to tell you a story about a 3 year old
prologue: this is me and my sister at the RED tour on friday, sept.13, 2013, when she was THIRTEEN (13) weeks pregnant. we dressed up as a couple of the "shades of wrong" (it's abstract, just go with it).
Tumblr media
wow, how about all those lucky numbers in one day, amirite?
the story: we can't confirm or deny, but this is probably the day my sister's (unborn at the time) daughter WENDY became ur #1 fan because, just take a look at this
A post shared by amanda. (@amxndascott) on Aug 19, 2014 at 1:17am PDT
WOW THIS CHILD WAS 4 MONTHS OLD WHEN THE SHAKE IT OFF VIDEO CAME OUT AND SHE IS OBSESSED. (addendum: it's the first music video she ever saw, she loved it for AGES, when she was 2 years old we'd give her the phone and let her watch it in the car to mellow her out when she was trippin', like????)
Tumblr media
no tea no shade, but wendy wore the pearls better at her 6 month photoshoot.
A post shared by amanda. (@amxndascott) on Oct 4, 2014 at 4:42pm PDT
i know it looks like brain damaging an infant but like she couldn't stand up on her own and she wanted to dance, what do u want from us. #shakeitoff
so anyway, that was like three years ago when 1989 came out and it was wendy's first major jam session. we've rocked the classics all these years, but NOW, @taylorswift, NOW she gets the new material and let me just tell you, i have never seen a kid love something more in my life.
for example, this is wendy watching the look what you made me do music video. (by the way, she literally threw a fit and said she did NOT want to watch the lwymmd video because she wanted PAW PATROL, but we ignored her because we're bad people, and LOOK WHO WAS LYING. personally i think she's in denial and a little terrified of how into your tunes she is, but like, i'm not a qualified psychiatrist for 3 year olds so what do i know, you know?)
A post shared by christine (@estikuperman) on Oct 26, 2017 at 6:49pm PDT
IT'S THE SAME EXACT TRANCE FACE AS THREE YEARS AGO!!! WHAT THE HECK!!!
listen though, stay tuned, i'm going to upload more stuff because obviously there's more stuff and you need to see it all to live your best life (you're welcome). check out THIS TAG RIGHT HERE (#wendy swift) on my blog for all of it because it's LEGENDARY, love you mean it!
Here Are 16 April Fools' Jokes to Make Your Day
It’s that time of the year again when popular brands' “new” product announcements may dupe the gullible and give others a good laugh.
Here’s a list of April Fools’ Day pranks to look out for as you scroll through social media today.
Fairfax: Polygraph Shows Sex Assault Denials Are Truthful
Google Tulip
If you’ve ever wanted to know what your plants are thinking, a new Google translator has got you covered. Yesterday, the technology company unveiled the software that will allow users to communicate with their tulips. A preview of the translator demonstrated that tulips love water and they’re willing to listen to you describe your grandchildren. The Dutch university in charge of much of the project's research is also trying to communicate with cacti, but the plants’ personalities are just as prickly as their spines.
Biden Says He Never Meant to Make Women Feel Uncomfortable
The service is only available on April 1, which is Google’s kind hint that the service is an April Fools’ joke.
Duolingo’s Real-Life Aggressive Reminders
Trump's Battle With 'Obamacare' Moves to the Courts
Anyone with the language app knows just how aggressive its reminders to continue lessons can be. There are many Twitter meme threads devoted to making fun of the app’s notifications. At least the company knows how to laugh at itself. In honor of the pranking holiday, the app announced a new notification service that would take “notifications out of your phone and into the real world.” Duo, the company’s owl mascot, will appear before you to give a “subtle reminder” to continue practicing so you don’t break your learning streak. Talk about taking aggressive notifications to an all new level.
Tinder’s Height Verification Update
The popular dating app hopes to bring “the honesty back to online dating,” with an update that will verify users’ height information. The fictional update, announced two days before April 1, would put an end to “heightlying.”
Some commenters figured out the update was fake because the sample height detector skipped from 5’9 to 6’0.
Reactions to Tinder’s prank have been mixed.
Many Twitter users hoped the company would actually implement a height verifier while others called for a weight verifier, too.
The company has been so inundated with inquiries regarding the stunt that its chief managing officer, Jenny Campbell, issued a statement revealing it was all a hoax. Campbell said the company wanted to use the joke to raise awareness that “only 14.5% of the US male population is over 6’ despite the many Tinder bios claiming otherwise.”
“This caused quite a stir among our users, and while we aren’t really verifying height, we do encourage people to stand proudly in their truth when filling out their bios,” Campbell wrote. “And conversely, we encourage all Tinder users to keep an open mind while swiping. Sometimes your most unexpected match can lead to amazing things.”
McDonald’s Shake Sauce
For those who love to dip their fries, nuggets and even apple pies in their shakes, the fast-food chain plans to launch four shake sauce dips matching its milkshake flavors.
If only it weren’t an April Fools’ Day joke.
The prank reminded some Twitter users, like MSNBC’s political correspondent and “Kasie DC” host, Kasie Hunt, of their own dipping habits.
“This might be a joke but some of us have been literally going to Wendy’s for years instead so we can dip fries in our chocolate Frostees,” Hunt tweeted.
Fresh Direct’s Cauliflower Milk
Fresh Direct, a grocery delivery company, announced the launch of Caulk, its brand of cauliflower milk. The YouTube video describing the new type of milk drops clues that it might still be in the inventing stage. Each cup of Caulk has “100% of the daily requirement of vitamins A, C and D.” The voice-over announces a plethora of Caulk’s other health benefits before finally wishing viewers a happy April Fools’ Day. Watch the video to see what other jokes you can find.
Amazon’s Tiny Food Delivery Service
Good things really do come in small packages. From bite-sized burgers and “donuts too tiny to share,” Amazon will deliver your miniature food order for free today only.
This might be a joke, but you can, in fact, get free delivery on a regular size order today if you use the promo code TINYFOOD at checkout.
SodaStream
Burps are useful after all. SodaStream, the sparkling water maker brand, partnered with retired U.S. astronaut Scott Kelly on a new water bottle that can turn your burps into water. The International Space Station’s carbon dioxide removal system inspired the made-up invention.
Starbucks’ Pupbucks cafes for dogs
Now, here’s an April Fools’ prank that all dog owners wish was true. Starbucks unleashed plans for a cafe chain for dogs. Even if you’re not a fan of April Fools’ Day pranks, watch the video for the stampede of puppies and dogs frolicking through the set.
Honda’s New Pastport model
Who said you need a time machine to travel back to the ‘90s? To give drivers’ that blast from the past they’ve been yearning for, Honda outfitted its 2019 Passport mid-sized SUV with your favorite ‘90s relics. Coin holder, beeper mount, fold-out maps, disco lights and CD player included.
Toyota Water Cruiser
Toyota posted a single photo of an SUV cruising through water on its Facebook page in celebration of April Fools’ Day. The new vehicle is part of the company’s goals to take its cars off-road and off-shore.
Shuttershock Brick-and-Mortar Library
If you only read books for the pictures, this new library might just be for you. The stock photography company announced the opening of a "massive" library to put its photos backs in the people's hands. The library will feature collections like “Happy Millennials Holding Sparklers,” “Tube Sock Vectors: An Anthology” and "Portriats of Disgruntled Ostriches.”
U.S. Open Tennis’s new furry employees
In a breaking news announcement, the United States Open Tennis Championships announced that the 2019 tournament would be the first to add puppies to the ballperson team. Ballpersons retrieve and supply balls to players and officials. The ballperson teams are now accepting applications, and all breeds are welcome.
Hasbro’s Mr. Potato Head Replacement
Potatoes are so last year. Hasbro must have thought so, too, when they decided to replace the iconic Mr. Potato Head children’s toy with Mr. Avo Head. The new toy even comes with headphones, black frame glasses, a topknot and a full beard in true millennial fashion.
Chicago Bears’ Triple Digit Jerseys
In celebration of its centennial season, the Chicago Bears football team will be sporting new jerseys that add a one in front of every number.
Tom Brady’s Hour-Long Retirement
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady joined Twitter today to announce his retirement from professional football to his fans’ sadness and his rivals’ glee. The announcement came more than a week after former teammate Rob Gronkowski retired from the team.
But after about an hour, Brady tweeted again asking if that was “a bad joke.”
Los Angeles Times’ Disses New York Food Culture
In an article titled “For cramped New York, an expanding dining scene,” an L.A. Times food reporter describes New York as a “culturally bereft island.” The article also said that New York’s “scrappy culinary scene” is gradually changing the city into a “legitimate dining destination.” Before you start sending the author angry emails in defense of New York, be advised that this is a satirical commentary on a real article. In a 2018 article, The New York Times claimed Los Angeles had an “absence of strong institutions to bind it together” and that the city’s news media lack the “different voices and the kind of competition that can ensure a live civic debate.” You reap what you sow.
Would any of these April Fools’ Day pranks have fooled you?
Final Paper
Shaylyn Jaworowski
Final Paper
May 7, 2017
             Over the past couple years, the transgender community has been included in the media much more than it has in the past. This has especially boomed when Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, transitioned in 2015. Bruce Jenner was known as America’s hero and Olympian athlete, winning a gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games (Pallardy & Augustyn, 2015). Jenner continued his fame back then by becoming a sports commentator, and star of reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, after marrying Kris Jenner in 1991. After having a family and happy marriage with Kris Kardashian, the two split and divorced in 2014. Bruce Jenner soon announced the following year in April 2015 that she was transitioning and would further like to be identified as Caitlyn Jenner. Later that year she came out with a reality TV show called, I Am Cait, which documented and showed the world the journey of her transition (Pallardy & Augustyn, 2015).).
           This announcement shocked the public and the media and this topic was trending for weeks, even months. Many fans of Bruce Jenner overall did not understand what Caitlyn was trying to communicate to the public or understand what she meant by announcing that she identified as a woman. Wendy Hilton-Morrow and Kathleen Battles describe transgender as a disconnect that people experience between their biological sex and their gender identity. This term has changed quite a bit over the years and is now widely accepted as an umbrella term that covers various identities, which includes individual’s denial of the correlation between their biological sex and gender norms in society (Hilton-Morrow & Battles, 2015). Caitlyn Jenner upon making her announcement participated in a coming out interview with Diane Sawyer. A study was conducted to analyze the media and public’s reactions through twitter. Five different research questions were asked regarding certain trends, hashtags, and retweets that were used during the interview. The first question is “What were the most frequently tweeted (a) words and (b) phrases during the Sawyer/ Jenner interview?” (Miller & Behm-Morawitz, 2016). The results for this question were primarily positive because the five most frequently used words on twitter during the interview were bravo, deserve, loved, brave, and love. This indicates that the media responded with support and admiration towards Caitlyn’s choice regarding her gender identity. Of the next ten words that were most frequently used, two of them were “LOL,” and “Whitegirlproblems.” This indicates a negative response from the public. The second question asked is, “What were the most frequent retweets during the Sawyer/ Jenner interview?” (Miller & Behm-Morawitz, 2016). The results for this question were majority positive, including Oprah Winfrey’s tweet, “All of us deserve the right to be loved for who we are.” And Jennifer Lopez’s tweet, “Once a champion always a champion. #BruceJenner #transgender #beyourself #loveyourself #LoveIsLove.” The third question asks, “What are the characteristics of the most retweeted opinion leaders (e.g., celebrities) during the Sawyer/ Jenner interview?” (Miller & Behm-Morawitz, 2016). The results for this question are linked with the results of question #2. The top fifteen retweets from question #2 were celebrities, and three of the fifteen top retweets were tweets made by actors and singers of the LGBT community, including Laverne Cox, Matt Bomer, and Lance Bass. The fourth question asked in this study is, “What are the dominant themes that emerged from tweets during the Sawyer/Jenner interview?” (Miller & Behm-Morawitz, 2016). The most popular themes determined in the study included bravery, journey to truth, family drama, congratulatory, support, emotional reactions, education & awareness, gender, journalism and the interview, champion, god, politics, negativity, and sexuality. The majority of these themes are positive reactions by the media. The last question of the study asks, “Do themes co-occur in meaningful ways in tweets during the Sawyer/ Jenner interview?” (Miller & Behm-Morawitz, 2016).
Figure 1. Theme co-occurrence (dendrogram) (Miller & Behm-Morawitz, 2016).
This figure indicated the correlation between themes used on Twitter during the Sawyer/ Jenner interview. The line that is attached to the theme is called a leaf, while a clade is the branched connections between leaves. The shorter the leaf, the stronger the correlation between themes and the shorter the leaf, the weaker the correlation between themes (Miller & Behm-Morawitz, 2016). This chart overall shows that were a couple themes that were much more related than others, including congratulatory and support which has the strongest correlation, followed by bravery and journey to truth. This study shows how prevalent Caitlyn’s situation was in the media. Another article by the Washington Post supports this, titled, “Actually, Caitlyn Jenner just broke the Internet.” After Caitlyn Jenner posted her first tweet as Caitlyn, she broke the record for the Guinness World Record for gaining the most followers in the shortest time, beating former President Barack Obama (Izadi, 2015). This record has contributed a huge difference by putting the transgender community in the media spotlight.
           An article posted on Daily Mail discusses the transgender community’s reaction to Caitlyn Jenner’s transition. Due to Caitlyn’s fame, she has used her platform to be a public voice of the transgender community. According to the article that explored these reactions, they overall were conflicting reactions both positive and negative. Individuals of the transgender community were asked to express their opinion of Caitlyn Jenner in one word. The results varied from positive responses such as ‘goddess,’ ‘brave,’ to negative responses such as ‘inept,’ and ‘tired’ (Lankston, 2015). Other reactions included just laughter after being asked to voice their opinion, as well as describing Caitlyn as a trendsetter. Overall, the reactions from the transgender community were very controversial. What made it controversial is that some of the reactions looked at Caitlyn as an ally in their community and others looked at her as having an unfair advantage because of her wealth she may misrepresent the community by making her transition look simple or easy to everyone (Lankston, 2015). Many others were unsure and on the fence about how they felt about her transition. Even though the responses from the transgender community were controversial, when being compared to the Sawyer/Jenner interview via Twitter, the responses from the transgender community were much more negative. Many of the transgender community may have a stance that Caitlyn made her transition look so easy, which is a complete misrepresentation of the transgender community. Transitions within the transgender community in real people’s lives (not celebrities), have had a much rockier road than Caitlyn’s. Not everyone who transitions has the support that Caitlyn had. This includes financial support, social support, emotional support, and even the media’s support. Caitlyn’s experience she most definitely did not feel alone and had transitioned in all her glory. Her transition may not have been absolutely perfect, but compared to the transgender community Caitlyn came out in a much safer space due to her financial, social, emotional, and media’s support throughout the entire process. An article from CNN called, “Why Caitlyn Jenner’s transgender experience is Far from the Norm,” shares many tweets from celebrities that point out how Caitlyn’s transition compared to a person in the transgender community’s transition are worlds apart (Grinberg, 2015). This article shares multiple charts with data that represent the transgender community and the disparities that they face. The charts show the significant amounts of transgender women that have turned down a job because of their gender identity, lost their job because of their gender identity, denied a promotion because of their gender identity, hid their gender or transition, delayed transition, stayed in a job that they preferred to leave, changed jobs, and did not seek a promotion or raise. This discrimination in the work place also flows over into housing discrimination including a significant amount of transgender women that were forced to move to a less desirable apartment, were denied access to a shelter, or were even physically assaulted in a shelter. Lastly, transgender women of color were much more likely to report extremely low incomes (Grinberg, 2015). All of this research and results of studies show how different the general populations’ transitions are worlds apart from Caitlyn Jenner’s. Transgender actress Laverne Cox, from “Orange is the New Black,” speaks on Caitlyn Jenner and how her transition is much different from the general populations’, but then provides insight about how she is not fit to represent the transgender community either, she states, “I have always been aware that I can never represent all trans people. No one or two or three trans people can. This is why we need diverse media representations of trans folks to multiply trans narratives in the media and depict our beautiful diversities,” This quote is extremely powerful and insightful in regards to representing the transgender community in the media. Caitlyn and Laverne are from different backgrounds and are both diverse, which is a good start to highlighting the transgender community in the media.
           Overall, the reactions of the media and transgender community on Caitlyn Jenner’s transition can conclude that her transition in the media has been very controversial, but primarily positive. The negative responses can even be turned into a more positive outlook for moving forward. The Twitter study that took place during the Diane Sawyer and Caitlyn Jenner interview was overall positive and supported by the media. The reactions from the transgender community were very mixed and many were very unsure or on the fence. This source definitely had more negative reactions than the media during the Sawyer/Jenner interview. It cannot be concluded why this may be, but it may be primarily due to Caitlyn’s wealth and the potential doubt that she may misrepresent the transgender community. Laverne Cox turned the negative reactions discussed in the CNN interview into a positive outlook. The transgender community does not think that Caitlyn will appropriately represent the transgender community. This was turned into a positive outlook by Cox, suggesting that more diverse populations of the transgender community must be represented in the media in order to support all individuals within the transgender community, because they all have their own experience and journeys during their transitions and not one experience is the same among any individuals that are a part of the transgender community. This entire experience and Caitlyn’s entire journey that has been highlighted in the media could absolutely overall be used as a tool to positively represent the struggles and needs of the transgender community, raising awareness and education to the public through Caitlyn’s platform. Caitlyn has already taken steps to do so in order to help make transitions easier for individuals within the transgender community. Caitlyn Jenner advocates resources for the transgender community on her personal website, including suicide prevention, equality advocates, legal help, health youth and family support, scholarship, and employment training. These resources that Caitlyn has shared on her website are a step in the right direction for not necessarily being a representation of the transgender community, but an advocate and resource for the transgender community.
 *****On March 31st Robert Redford did a nice op-ed piece on the times. I had been waiting for his wisdom during this countries troubling turn of events.  It is worth a look up.
*****I am sort of liking HBO’s Big Little Lies. It has great music but the characters can be a bit ho hum. I must say that I never thought I would see Reese Witherspoon puke so much and that it would be so green!!
*****Thanks NPR for reminding us that Pat Buchanan campaigned on Trumps platform first but didn’t make it to President. It is like we have stepped backward in time.
*****The NFL draft was a big deal with The Packers picking Kevin King and the Vikings picking Dalvin Cook. The Browns go crazy with Deshone Kizer, Myles Garrett, Jabrill Peppers and David Njoku.
*****Why do we not have Days of our lives and Late night with Dave box sets? There is a market for them. What is up NBC?
*****Days alert: It was nice to see Vanessa A. Williams (Dr. Valerie Grant/ Days) on Major Crimes. **A scene from Days: Kate: What am I doing?  Marlena: You’re having a drink with your best friend… Who would have thought that you’d hear Marlena say that about a former wife of Stefano? OMG, times sure have changed on Days. .. Thank goodness that awful couple in Canada are history. But what the fuck is up with Nicole? First she trusted some stranger when her and her daughter’s life depended on it and then hiding stuff from Brady who is the only person she can trust and now she just wants to settle in to a place that has been compromised. What happened to her street smarts, her radar?? Also..Lani sips champagne with a psycho pimp while working undercover with no back up? What are they saying abut the women of Salem? Are we supposed to believe that they have all become idiots?  I guess Kayla and Hope are still acting sane.**. A. Martinez is out as Eduardo so that hurts. **So glad that Sonny and Paul are back together but surely something will tear them apart. It is good to see them together at the Kiriakis mansion. They should be running the place, what a power couple!!** The slow moving love story of Ciara and Theo will be so sweet when it finally comes to be.** Sammy is back!!!
*****Oh Scandal!! Portia? How could U????????
*****Hackers, known as the dark overlord seem to have the next season of Orange is the new black as well as other things.
*****Disneyland got real when Johnny Depp dressed as Jack Sparrow appeared at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
*****Cate Blanchett will star in All About Eve in London.
*****Aidy Bryant is engaged to her partner of 9 years, late night writer Conner O’Malley.
*****Scary Clown 45 has a red button added to his desk to summon a butler.
*****3 Isis fighters were killed by wild boars!
***** It is scary to see that it is not just the U. S. struggling with shady elections. The Philippines had concerns with vote-buying and gender equity.  In Zambia there were stories about harassments of private media and abuse of office. Elections in the Congo have been postponed but many citizens are being trained to observe their own elections. Voting in France has led them to 2 outsiders for the run off but with worries about tampering.
*****Blondie’s ‘One way or Another’ is being over used in advertising. Thank goodness the new stuff is out there. Blondie will be at London’s Camden market from April 29 to May 3 with some Chris Stein photography. Pollinator is due our may 5 and it is sounding good.
*****Why can’t Scary clown 45 talk to this nation in a normal manner? Does this country deserve nothing but tweets and snipes? And what is with all this covert golfing??
*****Charlie watts wins the Gold award at the Jazz FM awards!!
*****The writers at Law and Order SVU did a great job the last week of May on the HNT episode. This episode was about sexual abuse at a fictional TV network.  They slipped a line in about the network, HNT and how when the news personalities work together they are in the “fox” hole. Nice!!
*****Helen Mirren is working on the new movie about Sarah Winchester..It will be released in spring 2018. Yeow!!
*****Main Squeeze will be at the Summer Camp festival in Three Sisters park, Chillicothe,Il.  And in a private message: Finally the three sisters will be together at the three sisters times two. I am a lucky girl!!!
*****It is nice to see Bill O’Reilly out but he was well paid for it. He gets a settlement, he still writes books and still has his podcast so we are never really rid of the pecker head. Most of the allegations against him were of a sexual or abusive nature and yet most of the upright evangelical brigade stood by him. How can this be acceptable to so many? Bloomberg and Wendy Walsh are asking for a full investigation into Fox’s workplace. A lot of advertisers had pulled out but some were resistant like Hulu, Trivago, Terminex, Flonase, Capital One, Honda and Nutri system.  Of course many of those that did stop advertising just moved their dollars to other Fox shows. Mia Farrow said it best: “One less lecherous racist on national tv”Birds of a feather flock together so Ailes.. O’Reilly.. all the old pussy grabbing white men who have been in their glory may finally get some small discomfort.  Do they not understand that nobody wants to fuck them? Power does not get you everything, at least not for free.  Scary Clown 45 should be out next, yet Michael Moore predicts we will not be rid of him until he is impeached in his 2nd term. OY!
*****Rex Tillerson : “The Syrian people will determine their own future.” The Trump team seems so used to being sneaky and dishonest that they do it when they don’t even have to.
*****Many merchants are fighting against the Illinois healthy workplace act. The bill asks for 5 sick days a year when employees work 20 hours a week. Why can’t we all get on board with that??
*****Dale Earnhardt Jr. retires from racing!!
*****Sandy Wexler is just loaded with stars like Conan and Jane Seymour!
*****Harrison Ford gets to keep his Pilot license.
*****Crashing will be back for a second season and thanks for the Zevon music.
*****Liam Neeson will play Mark Felt in the deep throat movie, Felt. OOOOOOOO Can’t wait!!
*****Former National Security Advisor Susan Rice seems to be getting the “blame the black woman” treatment from the Trump administration. They don’t like the fact that she requested the identities of Americans caught up in the election fiasco.
*****McMasters seems to be adding experienced persons to the National Security council after Steve Bannon was removed as one of the principals. Getting rid of Flynn’s personnel seems to be a move in the right direction.  Insiders have suggested that Trump and Bannon laugh behind the scenes for he may be less visible to the public but he is still there.** Insiders are also commenting about the comparisons of former WH staff and political shows like The West Wing, Veep or Scandal. WH staff used to laugh about how much calmer the White House really was compared to those shows and the way they make it all look so chaotic. Now reality has caught up to its fictional counterpart as the chaos ensues under scary Clown 45 and the family.
*****The senate changed the rules to get the Supreme Court they wanted so that it is not really a true representation of our country. It is no longer a requirement to have 60 votes for a Justice. Gorsuch was added to the court with the smallest number of votes in history. Are we finding out now that he is a plagiarist?
*****The US has dropped from 4th to 6th as a tourist destination worldwide.
***** Devin Nunes is under investigation after recusing himself from the Russian investigation.
*****Since E! is experiencing some serious falling ratings, they are looking for some new reality blood. They seem to be looking in the direction of Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna and their 2 beautiful daughters Delilah and Amelia.
*****Neil Young was ill so Dave Letterman inducted Pearl Jam into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. But no matter what else happened, the J. Geils band was still not inducted which is an outrage and now we have lost the man himself so Geils will never be there to drink it in. Every year I rail about one of the best bands of all time not getting enough votes to be inducted. What the Hell?????
*****Jimmy Kimmel was so broken up about the loss of Don Rickles. The moment was raw and touching and since I have always been more of a Newhart fan, I was glad to hear a Bob Newhart story.  Adam Sandler even wore a suit.
*****Duck Dynasty is history.. Finally!!
*****Let’s stick to policy.. We didn’t like when they made fun of the name Barack so why is it ok to make of Reince for his name. There are plenty of other things to belittle him about. A for instance is the way he insists that “nobody cares” about Trumps tax returns. Every single day I hear people say they want him to release them. He lives in denial and spin.
*****Oh what casting: John Waters as William Castle on Feud!! I am sad it is over but that was a hell of a show!!
*****Thank you to The Americans for the wonderful use of the Stones song, ’Slave’.
*****On April 8th the Dallas emergency siren was hacked with no computers involved. It was done old school!!
*****The Washington Post won a Pulitzer prize for its reporting on Trump’s charitable foundation. The NY Times won 3. The Salt Lake Tribune won for its investigation of rape at Utah colleges.
*****The Pope gave free laundromats to the poor in Rome.
*****There was a beautiful guitar shaped floral arrangement sent by the Stones to Chuck Berry’s funeral.
*****Sergio Garcia golfed his way to a championship.
*****Law and Order SVU show runner Warren Leight, who has been there since Meloni left, will be leaving the show.
*****Sean Spicer had to apologize for telling us that even Hitler didn’t sink to the level of chemical weapons.  If you don’t know history, you are bound to repeat it.
*****President Obama deported more immigrants last February than Trump did this February but Trump is moving them through faster. Scary Clown supporters are getting less than they bargained for. I know those voters don’t seem to understand why we have trouble accepting the new way of things. It is very hard to adjust to a laughingstock after such a reasonable and honorable President.
*****The University of South Carolina took the NCAA Women’s basketball championship.
*****The Lost City of Z from James Gray is with us starring Charlie Hunnam.
*****Barbara Bush has 8 toes.
*****Kharma is a bitch. South Carolina congressman Joe Wilson who yelled ‘you lie” to Obama in 2009 in his state of the union was drowned out by those same chants at a town hall. Nevertheless he is still committed to repealing the ACA.
*****There has been some controversy over a clown sketch with Louis CK on SNL. It is very similar to a sketch that Tig Notaro started in 2015 and still uses on her tour.
*****MTV is bringing back Fear Factor.
*****It is now known that 7 countries picked up Russian intels of contact with the Trump team.
*****Korn has hired 12 year old Tye Trujillo, who I mentioned in an earlier tumblr page, as a temp .
*****Scary Clown 45 signed an order allowing states to defund all Planned Parenthood services.
*****Julian Lennon has a new children’s book with Bart Davis and Smiljana Coh titled Touch the Earth. They hope to teach children about the environment and ocean life protection.
*****Harland Williams has a new LP, Cousins. He is also on the Disney channel with Puppy Dog Pals.
*****The Glen Campbell LP, Adios that was recorded after his alzheimer’s diagnosis is due out June 9th.
*****Best fake United ad I saw… Board as a Dr: leave as a patient!
*****The Cooking channels Food: Fact or Fiction has a great host in Michael McKean but it is a bit hackie. It does have some interesting food history though, like Fairy floss( which it is still called outside of this country) that was introduced by a dentist, then later tinkered with by another dentist before it became cotton candy!
*****Trudeau proposes legal recreational pot in all of Canada.
*****Hasan Minhaj hosted the White House correspondents dinner that the President and his staff would not attend. I don’t know why I wasn’t expecting much from Minaj but he did a terrific job!!  Trump gave himself a boner by throwing himself a rally instead and the press and his cult followers fell for it. I came home that evening to find him on every fucking news channel. Really??  Horrifying!! Samantha Bee had held a charity event, not the white house correspondent’s dinner which was funny. She really handed it to CNN who deserved it because most of the time, they are unwatchable because of the amount of people who are talking. Even Anderson Cooper never calls these idiots on the ridiculous things they say. Jordan Carlos did a small blurb, which was exciting. The real dinner honored Woodward and Bernstein and yet all were focused on the clown. He repeats himself with the repetition you see in a toddler so why keep listening? Fight his policy, zero in on the offensive things he says, it is all out there IF you want to listen but why every channel every time he speaks? Nobody in history has gotten more coverage except perhaps Hitler and Lincoln. C’mon!!  As long as journalists keep interviewing him and showing his clips on a fucking loop we will never be rid of him .They are giving him exactly what he wants. Just let him implode, give him no ink and he will get bored. Nobody seems to get this except Dem strategist Tara Dowdell. I was so happy to finally see a smart talking head who was saying exactly what I was thinking. But back to the WHCD: The reporters on the red carpet were joking about the lack of celebs and how boring it was. Some celebs had opted not to be there from the start because it is a Trump Presidency. His celeb supporters , of course followed their leader and did not attend. Others probably thought with less press coverage, less prestige and less schmoozing with the top , why go?? But that all sort of offends me.. We need to shine a light on some of the great journalists and stories that won awards. We may not know about Trumps lies about his charitable giving if it weren’t for these brave souls. What about the students, the journalists of tomorrow who were recognized? Julie Whiston, who has been throwing these dinners together for years is retiring and she was honored.  In the audience, there was a guy who seemed to be falling asleep so there was a bit less bang than usual. But in the end, Minhaj hit hard at the administration but nothing they did not deserve. He got some hateful looks and a fair amount of groans, which I did not understand but genuine laughs as well. He roasted all the news teams but gave such an eloquent moment at the end about how important the press is and how wonderful our country is. ** The next morning the Sunday shows catered to Trump and his 100 days and barely mentioned the WHCD except for This Week. This Week showed various clips but that may have been because they had WHC Association President Jeff Mason as a guest.  Meet the Press had Pence on looking apprehensive as he prepared to spin. He told us all how terrible the last 8 years have been and thank God that things are going so well under Trump. He chuckles like this is all a game as their healthcare stalls again. He sounds more like his cult leader every day preaching that Trump has gotten so much done by signing all those bills and just look at all the crowds he gets!! I suppose it is true that his followers don’t care what he actually gets done. They seem to just care that he keeps up the’ fuck you’ to things like the WHCD or that he caters to dictators and welcomes freaks like Phillipines leader Rodrigo Duterte who once called Obama the son of a whore.  Hs base loves that shit. **The Sunday morning shows should put a real dream team panel together for a season. I would love to see some real brains up there like say Bernie, Michael Moore, Colin Powell, Marco Rubio, John Kasick.
*****Aaron Rodgers and Olivia Munn are over.
*****What is going on with Dr. Phil’s eyes?? They seem unusually OPEN!!
*****Ivanka dined with Xi Jinping and now has provisional approval from the Chinese Government for trademarks that would usually take a lot more time.
*****Kevin Spacey will host the 2017 Tony awards on June 11.
*****Shouldn’t Trump know where his aircraft carriers are before he starts shooting off his mouth? North Korea? Australia? It matters!
*****Serena Williams is pregnant.
*****Richard Simmons may be clever like a fox. Word is he has been working on a tell all book and building suspense for big bucks.
*****Trumps sanctuary cities order has been blocked by a Federal judge but I like the way Colbert tweeted about it better: “Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. A judge walks into a courtroom and blocks Trumps executive order.”** BTW.. Has anyone celebrated the fact that Colbert has a female announcer??
*****An inquest is being held about the death of Terrill Thomas. He died after being deprived of water for 7 days in a Milwaukee isolation cell last year.
*****GOP lawmakers want to exempt themselves from their redo of the ACA. They want to keep Obamacare for their staffs and themselves.
*****It was great to see Nathan Fillion on Brooklyn 99 and that he uses his voice on Cars 3.
*****Marc Edwards was on the Daily Show but he is not the Marc Edwards I know!! The Daily Show interview was with the engineer who helped uncover the Flint Michigan water problem. The ‘problem’ has caused 600 million in damage. The administration is looking for something to do with the leftover $ they had with the 107 mil they got from the inauguration, they could start there.
*****Speaking about places with small crowds, Trump got another one when the Patriots came to town. The picture of the super bowl winners with Obama was huge but a small bunch gathered this year with Trump.
*****So SNL sort of blew my mind, Harry Styles playing Mick Jagger. It was like a 2 for 1 sale of YUM!!
*****Domino’s pizza changes itself every time they turn around. New menu, new sauce, now a new look.. Why don’t they just give it up. I don’t think I have ever met anyone who likes their stuff.
*****Nugent, Palin, Rock.. Time for the apocalypse!!  Ted and David Crosby have been in a twitter war. Ted calling Trump a ‘ball of fire’, being so proud of his Pres. and Crosby calling Nugent a ‘brainless twit’.
*****Thank you Billy Barr for your obsessive climate records in Colorado. You give us proof positive of our climate problems.
*****Scientists tell us that about 110 million tons of plastic trash is in the ocean and into the food chain.
*****Brad Paisley has a new LP, Love and War, with help from John Fogarty and Mick Jagger. Paisley set a Johnny Cash poem to music for the album.
*****Michael Moore at the Tribeca film fest: “Ignorance leads to fear, fear leads to hate. Trump knew that part of the equation really well. And hate leads to violence.”** Hillary was also at the fest to talk about elephant poaching. She was there for a Kathryn Bigelow film, The Protectors.  I hope she does a lot more of this. Support the Clinton global initiative!! She also talked of her support for the March for science. I was so glad to attend our own smaller Science rally.
*****So Trump summoned all the Senators to him by bus to have a classified briefing about North Korea which they say told them little. What a waste of money. He couldn’t go to them?
*****Pagans and Wiccans among others are finally recognized faiths in the military. Welcome familt members, U R now recognized!!
*****Fox is being investigated by the justice department and the USPS for the payouts to all those women and their business practices. **Roger Ailes man, co- President of Fox news, Bill Shine is being defended by Sean Hannity in some ranting tweets. **There has been a quiet outreach for a new head of the news division, preferably a woman.
*****The new Gong show is shaping up to be something special. They won’t admit it but the scuttlebutt is that Mike Meyers is hosting as Tommy Maitland. The host has an entire back story in a crazy nod to Chuck Barris. Andy Kaufman used to appear on the original show and this seems so Tony Clifton. Will Forte’s production company is in charge and he will appear as a rotating judge. Also judging will be Jack Black, Zach Galifianakis, Alison Brie, Andy Samberg, Elizabeth Banks, Joel McHale, Dana Carvey and Anthony Anderson.  The Gong show premieres on ABC on June 22nd.
*****Will there be a writers strike??
*****Scott Baio is getting some backlash for his comments on the death of former girlfriend, Erin Moran. In an interview he stated that if you do drugs and drink, you die. She did reportedly have a drinking problem but died of cancer. He is now blaming the backlash on the liberal hate of him because of his Trump support.  Seems like a typical angry Trump supporter response.
*****I still can’t believe that the daytime Emmy’s, which honor television, are not on TV anymore but I found them. They streamed live on Twitter and Facebook. Right before they were to start, things froze up but that may have just been my computer. When it suddenly jolted into the action, I was bombarded with dancing daytime stars and the Crenshaw high school choir. Eric Martsolf( Brady Black) and Nadia Bjorlin (chloe Lane) were singing with other actors as well. The hosts were Sheryl Underwood and Mario Lopez whose sexual banter was a bit uncomfortable and seemed to go on forever. I never understand the bitching about the length of these shows when this chatter could be cut. They were right, however when they talked of how hard these daytime stars work.  One good thing about no network would seem to be no commercials but they still stopped for breaks. **Larry King was there and I saw Meredith Scott Lynn (Anne Milbauer) jump up to lead a standing O for his 60 years in the biz.  Another legend, Nichelle Nichols was there but did not win. ** Even daytime Emmy’s can get a little political. Gaby Natale won and gave a nice FU to intolerance. Kate Mansi won for her former portrayal of Abby on Days. They had a march of basset hounds that were adorable but many of the short legged dogs had trouble getting up the stairs. All the hounds are up for adoption. Tim Allen did not seem t care for them and told us he was a cat person.  He introduced his friend Mary Hart for her lifetime achievement award. She droned on for over 10 minutes and told us her life story. I don’t know if she thought she would never have the chance again or is going into seclusion or what but it went on and on. Perhaps she thought this show was just for her. Congratulations! ** Steve Harvey won twice but was not there. Maury was nominated for his first Emmy but did not win. I will be honest, I did not recognize most of the winners. ** Best dressed for me were : James Reynolds, Nadia Bjorlin, Susan Lucci, Aisha Tyler, Kathryn Kelly Lang, Jane Pauley, Gina Tognoni (glad she won) and Lamon Archey. Worst dressed were: Vanna White and Natalie Morales.
*****RIP Jonathon Demme, Francine Wilson, Connie Brooks, Gilbert Baker, Erin Moran, J. Geils, Don Rickles, James Rosenquist, Dorothy Mengering, Charlie Murphy, Dan Rooney, Sylvia Moy, Cuba Gooding Sr., Aaron Hernandez and the victims of the Syrian chemical attacks.
(Part 1) I'm so happy that someone else shares the same opinions about the characters/relationship that I do! Most people seem to love Jax/and/or Tara but I honestly never liked Tara. I think she was ok in s2-3, but then she always got on my nerves. And I hated how she kinda made herself the "victim" sometimes because of how her life turned out. She knew what she got into when she got together with Jax, the club was a part of him and he gave her multiple chances to leave, but she chose to stay.
(cont.) I’m also happy that you also like Nero & Wendy, not many people do. They hate Wendy bc of what she did to Abel etc. And people usually dislike Nero because they say that he always went and told Jax the stuff Gemma told him and didn’t want Jax to know about. But the thing is that Nero believed that the truth would always come out, so he tried to tell it from the start and come clean with things, unlike Gemma who lied about everything. Also Nero/Jax is one of my favorite relationships. I also feel like Nero in a way was more loyal to Jax than he was to Gemma, despite her being the love of his life. Not loyal in the way that he’d betray Gemma, but in the way that he never gave up on Jax, no matter what awful things he did or how much Nero might disagree with his actions. He was there for him and he really loved and cared about Jax. Especially in the end, he was clearly devastated when he figured out that Jax was going to die. And their relationship was clearly mutual. If I I got to pick my favorite relationships on SOA it would be: Jax/Chibs, Jax/Nero, Jax/Wendy and Jax/Happy (Even though Happy liked to kill people, and was a little bit “psycho”… I still think he was a “good/kind person” deep down in a way and he was very loyal to Jax) I also loved Half-Sack/Cherry (one of my few ships on SOA) and I think Lyla/Jax had a cute relationship. And Nero/Gemma. With all talk about relationships… I just have to say that the scene were the club votes on Mayhem for Jax is so emotional. Because even though Jax had done things that made him “earn” the vote, you could see how non of the members wanted to vote yes, but they’d no choice, since it was what Jax wanted. I think that scene also shows that the club was more loyal to Jax and loved him more than they ever “loved” Clay, he was more feared, while Jax was respected and loved for who he was.
Wow, it sounds like we have so much in common when it comes to SOA, amazing! Yeah, it’s really strange because I actually reblog a lot of Jax and Tara posts and I’ve even made a couple myself, but I’ve never been the biggest fan of them as a couple. Don’t get me wrong, I never hated them or was hardcore against them. I always knew they were the love of each other’s lives and Charlie and Maggie had insane chemistry, but I just wasn’t the biggest fan of Tara as a character, like you said. I completely agree about her making herself a victim. Then were moments when I felt genuinely sorry for her, but then I’d realise, like you said, that she chose that life for herself. You’re right that Jax gave her so many opportunities to walk away and he was actually completely honest with her about the club life and the things that he had to do in terms of the violence and killings etc. but she still chose to stay and raise his son and have another son with him. I always felt like that was so irresponsible on her part. Regardless of how much she wanted a family or how much she loved Jax anyone with half a brain could see that raising a child in that environment was a huge no-no. In season 2, Abel was nearly killed (and if it wasn’t for Half-Sack saving him, he might’ve been) and kidnapped, he was constantly around violence and being dumped on a babysitter, and Tara decided this was a perfect life to have another baby? It was ridiculous. I think that’s why I struggled so much to like Tara, because on the one hand she always tried to put on this persona of being strong, independent and of being above the club, but in reality she was weak. She was a slave to her love for Jax and even though, like I said in my other response, I got so much respect for her in season 6 for putting the kids first, it still took her so long to reach that point. I understand that she was in denial and she wanted to believe that she could have the man she loved and the perfect, family life too, but she should’ve known better. Despite what he might’ve told her, Jax would’ve never gave up the club. In a way Tara was always his mistress and his second choice, because the club was his wife and that nearly always came first.
I understand that people dislike Wendy for that, but it’s a silly reason to dislike her, in my opinion. The difference between what Wendy did and what others on the show did, is that Wendy was an addict under the influence of drugs when she endangered Abel’s life. In my opinion, anyone that’s in that situation is not a person capable of logical or reasonable thought. She didn’t harm her son by choice, she didn’t even know what she was doing. If you compare that to the other characters, they hurt and murdered others all the time, in the full knowledge of what they were doing and the consequences of that. Also, whilst so many of the characters progressively regressed and got even more immoral and evil throughout the seasons, she was one of the only ones that made steady progress. The Wendy we saw at the end of season 7 was miles apart from the one we saw at the start of season 1 and that’s amazing considering what she went through.
As for Nero, like I said, he was just a thoroughly honest and straight talking person. If Gemma told him something and he felt it was something Jax needed to know, he’d tell him and to be honest, what’s wrong with that? He never really betrayed Gemma’s trust in any huge way, from my memory. I liked Jax and Nero’s relationship too, but unfortunately, we just never got to see much of it. But there was definitely a mutual respect between them that was very genuine and I think especially when it came to Gemma, Jax felt like Nero was the only one that would understand him. There’s a reason why Nero was the one Jax told about Gemma killing Tara, it’s because who else would understand how Jax felt about that? That on the one hand he despised her and knew he had to kill her for what she’d done, but at the same time he couldn’t bear it because he loved her so much. Nero was the only one that could understand that, I think.
I like all of the relationships you like. The only reason ones such as Jax/Nero or Jax/Happy didn’t make it onto my list is because I really just felt like we didn’t get to see enough of them and I didn’t feel as much as a strong connection as I did to other friendships/relationships on the show. I’m just like you and loooved Sack and Cherry, which is weird since we saw so little of them. But they’re that couple that are just so cute and genuine and you can’t help but root for them. Lyla and Jax…oh, my god, I LOVED them. I can’t believe I forgot about them, actually. I mean that final scene between them in season 7 (x) where he just kisses her head and tells her he loves her…it makes me melt. I love it because it’s a purely platonic relationship and there’s never any romance involved or complication there. Jax just genuinely cares for Lyla, he helps her get out from porn films and gets her directing instead which is what she always wanted and because she’s Opie’s wife, he just loves and respects her and cares for her. I think the fact that Lyla is one of the only people that he goes to before he dies to tell her he loves her, along with the kids, Wendy and the boys at the club, it’s so sweet.
I completely agree about the mayhem vote. I already discussed that in my response to your last ask. Jax was considered to be more of an equal and a friend in the club and for that reason he had more respect and was just generally more loved. I also think that Jax worked harder to maintain real friendships with everyone individually, whereas Clay always showed blatant favouritism to Tig and Bobby in particular.
