Wat going on with the school?

Heh, where to start?

Basically, I was back in my depression and instead of helping me, I was continually dug deeper into my hole. I got a really bad review on my teaching because of my church attendance for 4 months of the school year. I was told that it didn't matter what my counselor said about me going to another church (and that's the counselor they made me go to because of covid?) My principal doesn't know what burnout is, so my downward trend toward the end of the year couldn't possibly be explained by that. Instead, it was because I wasn't going to church. And then the school board wanted to meet with me, but they didn't tell me specifically what about and left it vague. I wasn't emotionally ready, so my counselor told me to tell them I wasn't available the two times they gave me for medical reasons, so I gave them almost a week I was available with a friend. They told me none of those days work. They then gave me one day & time. I told them I'd do the meeting virtually (again on the recommendation of my counselor - the one they made me see) and I was told that was unacceptable. There's more to it, but it's a toxic environment and has been (according to them, I mentally made my covid worse, even though I had a doctor fill out fmla paperwork for me - which they denied because they don't have to follow government policies?) It's been a long time coming. I need to be done with this place.

Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1

The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.

So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.

So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.

Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.

And the probe is working again.

From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT????
