Has anyone ever questioned how/why all the Links are named, well, Link?
I mean it’s obviously not a common name. Does some kind of divine intervention from Hylia herself take place the moment his soul is reborn, and his parents are just overcome with the undeniable urge to name their new baby Link? Family and friends be like “but I thought you were going to do Joe for a boy or Jane for a girl?” And the parents just stare back at them with these creepily blank faces and reply “his name is Link” well um… alrighty then…

I don’t think people talk about the messed up relationship between the goddess hylia and her chosen enough. Like, Link takes a LOT of nonsense through his generations, but specifically the fact that Zelda spends all of BOTW desperately looking for her approval and her to speak to her just once, spending all her time devoted to this destiny, while Link (while he is very much dealing with his own stuff, THANKS HYLIA) can just. call her up. she speaks to him no problem all the time. we exchange her objects for hearts and stamina the whole game.
And Link doesn’t even seem surprised! In both games this happens in! Like he had memory loss in BOTW yeah but for it to be so ingrained in him that he doesn’t startle TALKING TO A GODDESS is astounding. Just, thinking about that. If Link could do that and knew the whole time. Wondering why she only spoke to him. Knowing it would break Zelda if she knew, asking hylia why. Anyways i’m back on my LOZ nonsense the one chosen by an fickle god trope is very dear to me

For anyone in the Legend of Zelda fandom and Linked Universe, I have an idea for a story. You can use the idea because I’m horrible at keeping track of what I want to write. Good luck!
The Plot: Unknown to the heros, the shadow goes back in time and kills Warriors after he and Artemis seal Ganondorf in order to weaken the Chain. The effects on Time itself shows in Hylia’s heros. The group of 9 are reduced by 2 since Warriors was now killed before the journey starts and Wild is erased due to the fact he was a descendent of Warriors. Time (the hero) is now more jaded and full of anger due to watching the one considered his big brother be killed in front of him. He is more reckless and quick to anger. His markings are now complete and has the power of the Fierce Deity without the use of the mask. Wind, who was there in the war shortly after turning 13, is also jaded and wanting revenge for Warriors’ death but not as reckless as Time. The others are more or less unaffected outside of being very concerned with Time and Wind’s health and sanity.
With the exception of Legend who, thanks to his royal blood, remembers Warriors and Wild and is unaffected by the time change. With Hylia’s direct help at last, Legend takes Sky, Four, Hyrule, and Twilight back into the past in order to save Warriors’ life and in turn, Wild’s existence.
There’s just one little problem.
They must not be seen by Warriors, Artemis, Mask, or Toon or the Golden Goddesses will interfere and possibly stop them.

Goddess Pilgrimage -Totk Headcannon
some of link’s early training involved escorting travellers through Tanagar Canyon on a pilgrimage to the forgotten temple.
[actual evidence of pilgrimage routes is cannon from two sources. one being the fallen goddess statue quest where the statue explicitly tells link to make a pilgrimage through Tanagar Canyon, and the other being the ruins of a prairie schooner wagon found in the Canyon directly north of Lake Illumini]. just a fun little theory i had :)

Note
I hc that the Bargainer Statues are early depictions of the Fierce Deity (who's true form therefore has 4 eyes), who is referred to as a Kishin in Japanese, which according to folklore, are wrathful, powerful, even scary-looking beings & vicious fighters, but are also deeply compassionate, benevolent, & protectors at there core. They're said to enact just & righteous vengeance for those who've been wronged.
Anyway, my thoughts are that he is the 3rd in the Hylian/Demise triad, being where the Hero's Spirit originates from. I also hc that he created the Sheikah much like how Hylia created the Hylians. (So, if the naming conventions follow, his true name could start with "Shei" or "Sheik.")
Anyway, he's a god of war, the moon, heroism, & death. Which is why Link is always able to see spirits. He gathered spirits & fought or soothed Poes (the enemies) either by fighting them or playing the Song of Healing.
The Dark Clumps being pieces of the pseudo-flesh that spirits form to create Poes & the Depths Set being made from this pseudo-flesh.
Also, I hc that the symbols are actually ancient Sheikah script, which the Fierce Deity taught the Sheikah. And before losing or giving up his immortality, he tasked the Sheikah with taking his place, which is who delivered the spirits to the Bargainer Statues before Link.
This is part of the reason why the Sheikah are so heavily associated with death & graveyards.
As for who the Bargainers are, they are this thing called a bushin in Japanese culture, which there deities have the ability to split pieces off of themselves & create lesser copies that rule over certain areas, but are lead by the source deity. The same is said for the Goddess Statues. Basically, Hylia & Fierce gave up their immortality, but the statues are still being run by their bushin.
Stop me, I will literally talk you ear off if you don't.
Anyway, what are your thoughts??
.................................................... OP. My guy, my gal, my non-binary pal. Why did you drop this on my inbox? This needs to be its own proper post! This is a very fascinating take on the Bargainer and the other known deities in the Zelda world.
-
Ngl, I haven't thought much about the Bargainer and their role is since there's so little in their lore. Other than "guiding lost souls into the afterlife without prejudice" and exchanging materials, weapons and outfit sets in return of Poes... (Kinda like how the Goddess Statue exchanges Blessings for Hearts, Stamina and Sage's Wills).
And seeing so many Poes in the Depths in a state of purgatory, makes me think that they are akin to the Grim Reaper of sorts. On top of the Yiga notes about how those "strange statues" would rip the souls out of fellow members if they come too close to it in the Depths.
I also imagine that the name "Bargainer" is a recent title when they were (re)discovered by present-day Hyruleans. And their true name had already been lost to the looooooong passage of time. And for all we know, the "Bargainer" was the god(dess) of the long extinct Zonai people.
That's about as far as I have for the Bargainer.
As for other deities like Hylia, Demise and the Fierce Deity, I don't have much beyond what is present in the games and the popular headcanons shared within the Zelda fandom.
I do have headcanons on how each race and clans interpret these deities and their own faith systems. For example, the Sheikah view Hylia as a "two faced" deity with "light and shadow" themes in their faith. Which is in contrast to their Hylian counterparts who have more clear-cut views on Hylia as the benevolent protector-goddess of their people (And why the Horned Statue exists and is shunned and hidden away).
(Though this is all part of my BotW-TotK Family and Legacy story.)
TL;DR I don't have a lot of ideas / headcanons on who or what these deities are. BUT I do have headcanons on how they are interpreted by different peoples/races.
-
But seriously though OP, if you're reading this, you need to create dedicated posts and elaborate more on these headcanon ideas. They have POTENTIAL to become some very delicious reads.

I like peoples interpretations of Link where he's pissed at Hylia and the other gods, because angst is fun and the legend of zelda is the angst series. But i think most Links wouldn't be mad at the gods or goddesses. I am absolutely positive that botw/totk Link interacts with the Hylia statues like old friends. He actively helps the poe collector statues.
The only gods he gets mad at are the ones that put innocent people in harms way. And he isn't afraid to fight those gods to put a stop to it. Demise, the god of cyclones, any variety of Ganon or reincarnation of Demises hatred, Vatti, bellum, Majora, ect.
The only Link I can kinda see getting angsty about the gods and goddesses is oot mm Link. But he still does his duties as the chosen hero even after he dies. He might be mad at the deities that rule over their world, he might feel cursed by his role, but dammit he is going to fulfill his duties because it means people are safe. He is probably one of the few links to realize that the curse exists. And he probably accepts it, because it means he can keep coming back to protect others even if it is a different version of himself. He even trained another version of himself. I am sure he is incredibly proud of Tp link

All the craziest and greatest headcanons always come to mind around 2/3 am lmao
What if the different incarnations of Link can't talk because they are still paying for something the first Hero did?
Today I was studying some Greek mythology, and noticed that the gods tend to be... Quite vengeful.
Imagine if the Chosen Hero tried to retort and Farore or Hylia casually cursed him and his descendants, so now every Link has a different reason for not talking so he can't retort and just follow his destiny as the Goddesses wanted.

*downs coffee like a shot* Before we go back to our regularly scheduled Linktober/Linktober Shadow (because I don't leave things unfinished if I can help it), I gotta get the idea of Revenant First out of my system and y'all get to suffer with me until it eventually ceases being an idea and it turns into an actual story. For some reason we talk a lot about First already being alive or already a ghost by the time the Chain meets him, but I don't think I've ever heard someone talk about him actually coming back to life and so y'all get to suffer with my insane ramblings like I'm an 1800's psychic ward patient who believes themselves to be a witch.
Can be x Reader or not idk just an idea that won't leave my mind.
Might expand on this later so Part out of I/?
Revenant First, who died for his people and in the name of his Goddess. All alone on the surface, fighting, fighting, fighting, always fighting. Just to make the land a little safer before the next hero arrives, just to contain the Imprisoned for a little while longer with likely nothing than a ordinary, common sword to his name and a slowly rusting armor.
Always giving so so so much for his people, always doing his best to protect them, though they scorned him, loathed him, didn't believe or support him, rejected him.
With a spirit so strong and lovely that a Goddess fell for him, hated herself for having to manipulate and put him through such horrid experiences just to save the many, just to turn the diamond of his soul into an unbreakable lonsdaleite blade agaisnt a mad deity.
Someone whose will would be enough to keep him going, just one more fight right? Just one more kill right? Forward, forward, ever onward, it doesn't matter if the flesh decays, if the blood drips drips drips until he is dry of it, if the liver doesn't process nutrients, if the lungs don't draw air, if the nerves feel nothing but the cold cold numbness of the winter of his final years, if the heart doesn't beat. If the armor rusts or the sword breaks. He must keep going, he must keep fighting.
To keep them safe he must have faith, faith that he can keep going, to grasp onto that one.single.thread of purpose until the day that fiery, indomitable, determined will finally burns out. Even if his Goddess may have forsaken him knowingly or unknowingly, even if his people have rejected him to the point he isn't even human anymore, even though they reviled him, even if that rejection should by all intents and purposes chained his spirit to the land or ground the jewel of his unbreakable soul into dust, he still loves them, still adores them, still wants to protect them.
No matter how long he must keep going for it. He wishes to see those he holds dear happy, though they cursed and imprisoned him once.
The Chain getting dropped into a completely empty, desolated and undeniably dead version of Sky's Hyrule, only to find the only living thing besides monster is a single man, with rusted gold armor and an old sword, a faded tunic of green with a long, crimson scarf like a bloody banner. With hair and eyes like theirs, undeniably a Link. But so very frigid, so very silent they almost didn't notice him, that they can't help but wonder just how many years he has spent there, eroding away, ruined but still kind, kind, so very gentle. A shadow of his former self, yes, but still himself, still so so so good, doing all he can until Sky's Era comes and maybe, just maybe, he can finally rest.
Or maybe not, after all, someone has to keep the land safe until the Hero after Sky comes around, no?
Just Revenant First in general.
Or maybe we give him the House in Fata Morgana treatment, the House in Fata Hylia Au if you will- *collapses from sleep deprivation*
#linked universe headcanons#lu first#lu fic idea#Revenant First#lu first x reader#maybe? it's mostly just an idea lol#might expand on this later lol#Also knows as what happens when Summer is sleep deprived while doing essays takes a break by listening to The House in Fata Morgana OST#and suddenly gets First in the brain lol#still have way too much First Hero on the brain that man deserves the world but at the same time I want to put him into Situations lol#Feral Revenant First being protective of the Chain my beloved#Sky being so confused because Fi at the same time recognizes the man and has just started lowkey crying and screaming in chimes#Twi Wind Hyrule and Time not knowing wether to be morbidly intrigued or horrified because he registers as both dead and alive to them#Meanwhile First is just chilling#doing his own thing and probably bonding with Wild over 'Being Dead but Got Better'#Probably doesn't even register he shouldn't be moving anymore after taking a stab to the heart or something lol#if we want to make an X Reader kind of thing then it's literally his love for Reader which also allows him to keep going#alongside sheer force of will and determination#Michel and Giselle vibes ya know? lol#Wait would that make Hylia Morgana? Or could it be Demise or something? Eh#I dunno might expand on that later/write out that Au later on as a self indulgent thing#Anyway for now ya'll get this until I am finally not swamped with literature/language essays and fistfighting sleep deprivation#Summer Writes#Summer Writes Linked Universe Headcanons#Summer's Sleep Deprived Headcanons

Trying - Bazz x reader (18+)
Tumblr media
“Possibly NSFW, but could keep it SFW if you wanted! How do you think Sidon/Bazz would behave during a period of time of trying for a baby with y/n? Do you think Zora get more protective and primal over a mate during that time? Would they go into a heat? I can just imagine them pacing outside the bathroom while y/n takes another pregnancy test lol” - @rocklover719
slightly nsfw, so marking this one as 18+, just incase
i tried to write this one as gender neutral as possible, but.... babies come from somewhere, ya know?
i had a LOT of feelings for Bazz with this one, like most of the Bazz requests that are sent. enjoy <3
(Sidon can be found here)
y/n - your name
another pregnancy test
negative
you sigh as you throw in the garbage bin
what started as a scare quickly became MONTHS of planning conception
tracking every single cycle you had with intensity
you’d even changed your diet and routines a bit to help
but
nothing
even with the constant amount of sex
still nothing
Bazz is pacing just outside
“Y/n? May I come in?”
you open the door and frown
“Again?”
and you nod
“Oh, y/n…”
he wraps his arms around you
and that’s when the tears come
“Hey, hey… It’ll happen.”
“But what if it doesn’t, Bazz?”
he takes a deep breath
“Relax, darling. You know stressing yourself out is only going to make it more difficult.”
“I know, but…”
you’re sobbing at this point
“But it’s so difficult not to be stressed when we’re trying so hard!”
Bazz holds you so close
rubbing your back so gently
“Then maybe we shouldn’t try so hard.”
“What?”
Bazz gives you the sweetest smile
“You’re stressed. And I really hate to assume this, but I’m starting to think you’re thinking of this as a chore. Let’s just have fun with it. Let’s let loose and let things happen.”
it’s odd to hear him say this
he’s usually one for plans and preciseness
but maybe he has a point
you were VERY stressed from the constant planning and timing of things
you take a deep breath
“Y/n, I want nothing more than to start a family with you; to hear the pitter patter of our young running around our home. I want this. And you want this. It’s an exciting thought, so let’s have fun with this little ‘creative’ process! Besides, we weren’t trying when all of this started, were we?”
over the next few weeks, you stop stressing about all the small things
Bazz has definitely helped you to let loose and relax
“Would you want to… try again?”
and your eyes light up
“We don’t have to, of course. I just thought since you were in that window of opportunity… we may have a higher chance of conceiving.”
of course you’re all for it
he takes your hand in his
kissing your fingers and knuckles before leading you into the bedroom
he’s so tender and soft
something he’s usually not when trying to bed you
when the two of you have finished, you both lay there for a moment
Bazz holding you in his arms
he smiles at you
“I have a good feeling about this, y/n.”
a few more weeks go by
and you’re still trying
just incase
you take another test
because you want to check
though nothing seems out of the ordinary
Bazz is home from work, preparing lunch for you both
and you peek at the test after a few minutes
“Bazz?!”
he sets down whatever he’s holding and quickly makes his way to the bathroom
seeing the look of utter shock on your face, he knows something is up
and you show him the pregnancy test
positive
he looks at you
back at the test
and then back at you
“Is this… is this real?”
and you nod
tears are quickly forming in both your eyes
and he’s smiling ever-so-sweetly
“Y/n…”
oh how this man holds you
kissing you so passionately
“I…”
he’s trying so hard to form a sentence though the tears
but no words are needed
you’re both holding each other
teary eyed smiles spread across your faces
finally
“We’re having a baby!”

So a friend pointed out an idea that I absolutely love about a certain TotK design.
Disclaimer: I don't talk "theory" much and usually refer to my thoughts as headcanons, because theory implies that I'm asserting a possible outcome. I mean, it would be cool if it was a possible outcome, but I'm just holding it up like "wow, imagine if this was part of the design motivation!!!" for fun without any real concern over its validity. So...
Spoilers regarding the TotK art book leak under the cut!
Please be mindful of others who may not want to be exposed to the leaked content :)
I like to think this is a Hylia design, given what we see of this creature in the mural. I say "a" Hylia design, because if so, she probably has multiple forms. But going off of that idea, let's imagine this form is the original.
Tumblr media
Now, let's imagine you encounter this deity briefly, but you're a little ol' ancient human/Hylian/Sheikah priest and you can't quite comprehend the face that you're seeing. I mean, you haven't seen anything like it before.
You're sitting there half-blinded by the radiance of the divine. But you gotta tell people right? Obviously.
Tumblr media
How would you describe this creature, based on the other faces and people you're most familiar with?
Tumblr media
"I think I just saw our deity ... and they kinda look like us! Well, yeah, of course they look like us, they're one of our gods!"
Tumblr media
Then, over time as you continue playing the game of "oral folklore based off of a single glimpse" telephone, things develop into:
Tumblr media
Birdmom Goddess Who Has Wings And Smiled At Me Once
Once again, this is just thing that would be fun and cool, and I'm not presenting it with any assertive seriousness. I love it mainly because I adore the idea of "misinterpreted event becomes accepted folklore". It's how I prefer mythos in my headcanons and AUs. I just think it would be really fun if ancient humans initially thought that this deity looked like them, and maybe that deity eventually agreed with them.

hiiiiiiii! I'm really interested in your headcanons on the different Links interacting with each other! specially Sksw and Oot Link since I believe they'd have a lotta beef hehe
WELL anon. welcome to Hylia's Hype House. think the reality show Big Brother but its an afterlife where no one can leave. heres an old but still accurate relationship chart made by @rysktchy since this is something we conceived together during 2020
Tumblr media
regarding Time and Sky..... WELL
So, Time is the black sheep in the Hype House, because of it being him who ends up splitting the timeline in 3. (its also sheik's fault, but he's so miserable about it no one likes to pick on him) Time is opinionated and not afraid to be blunt, which makes him the punching bag. Hylia views him as "difficult". Sky is the #1 Hylia Simp (ss zelda is separate from hylia here), Hylia dislikes Time, Time dislikes Hylia, so Sky is caught in the crossfire. He defends her and that annoys the fuck out of Time, and Time frustrates Sky bc of how stubborn/disrespectful he is.
Sky isn't confrontational and really hates fighting, but Time is very defensive. Hylia is usually the one to piss him off by saying a snide comment, yet its Sky that jumps to her defense and does much of the arguing. And if Sky Zelda is there, which 90% she is, she jumps in there too, to defend Sky. It's all by design.
They don't hate each other, they just don't understand each other. Time specifically is incredibly jealous of Sky, since he was celebrated in his lifetime, is favored by Hylia, and gets to spend eternity with his wife. Time is LONELYYYYYYY
that being said, as time goes on and more Links n Zelds start showing up, it becomes entertaining for some of them (mainly the kids like Wind and the FS quadruplets, as well as most the Zeldas) to start forcing them together in different situations. the Zeldas r definitely yaoi shipping them. (every zelda is a fujoshi bc Hylia is THIS IS MY DECREE) every time i listen to this song i think of them LMAO
youtube
anyways I think thats all I got rn, thanks so much for the ask!! Hylia's Hype House is something I'm planning on writing/developing once my ordinary life wraps up, since its like a crack-taken-seriously epilogue/sequel lol. WE'LL SEE WHEN I GET THERE.... WE'RE GETTING CLOSE!!!!
thanks again sm for the interest😭😭💖💖💖

linked universe things i would love to see (aka things i might write fics about) & me rambling about religion across the zelda timeline
- the chain being sent to the adult timeline (probably like 10 years post oot) and adult timeline!zelda gets to see link again… these two are basically war buddies and i think a lot of their worries and regrets would be eased if they could see how well the other is doing :)
- legend inviting hyrule to stay with him in his time period when the whole adventure thing is over. (I am still heartbroken from “time’s lazy river” by boo_boo_thefool. this fic is so so beautiful but also devestating. I can’t recommend it enough but it is very very sad).
- i would love to see the links talking about their religions and the gods! each zelda game has very unique religion and culture, and i wonder how the links would react to learning about each of them. for example, i know we kinda blame everything on hylia, but only sky and wild know who she is.
1. a lot of them worship the golden goddesses
2. twilight acknowledges the golden goddesses but probably worships ordana
3. legend knows about the golden goddesses but he is catholic (this is pretty much canon somehow)
4. hylia and the golden goddesses are completely forgotten by the time hyrule’s games take place, but the culture and imagery are very christian
5. sky’s game references the golden goddesses but it seems like only hylia is worshipped
6. wild’s games acknowledge the golden goddesses AND hylia, which is cool how she appears at the beginning and end of the timeline
apoligies for the long post. I would have made it two but i am on mobile and copying and pasting is hard!

Headcanon - Majora's Origin
I love Majora's Mask. It is nice to the game get the recognition after spending so much time in the shadow of Ocarina of Time.
However, since the beginning, fans have had an obsession about the origin of Majora's Mask. The oldest / most popular theory that often get repeated is - Majora is a DARK GOD rejecting the Goddesses and planning the destruction of everything!
It's a fine enough theory, but I never hear people really expand on the normal origin explain in the game. They never seem to grasp what "Majora's Mask" is - the Mask is very simply a Demon.
A unique demon, but a demon none the less.
Tumblr media
First of all, let's take the time to acknowledge that the world of Legend of Zelda is full of demons. Nearly every side game features some kind of powerful demon terrorizing the local population.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Nightmare art by JMatchhead on DeviantArt]
Anyway, Majora is a Tsukumogami, a type of "spirit" born from an item. (Never forget the Zelda franchise's Japanese influences.) In Shinto, it is believed that items can come alive after a long period of time (usually more than 100 years.) Items that are regularly used and maintained, birth helpful spirits. Items that have been neglected, birth angry spirits.
When you think of it that way, the origin told in the game makes a lot more sense. Majora's Mask is a mask used by an ancient tribe to cast curses. The Mask might have absorbed some of the dark magic that they used, so it was already brimming with dark energy when it was sealed away. Then it remained sealed away for a long time, growing resentful of those that had sealed it away.
(I mean, it might be a hexing mask, but items are happy to fulfill their purpose. If it's been neglected, it's because either no longer good enough to do it's job, or they are ashamed of the job it did before.)
Tumblr media
By the time the Happy Mask Salesman found it, it was probably already alive waiting for someone to pick it up.
[Sidebar - the HMS is not a God either. He's just a Mask collector. In a land of powerful masks, that means something, but it's not necessarily sinister. He probably buys and sells regular masks, but keeps rare masks for his personal collection. And his drive for collecting masks did push him to raid an ancient temple for Majora's Mask. But, he was also smart enough on how to transport it. He knew it would be trouble for anyone else. He might have planned a ritual to banish the spirit inside the Mask, if he could get the mask back. However, Link destroyed the demon the old fashioned way.]
When the Skull Kid put it on, it secretly wielded him like a puppet. Fascinatingly, being a hexing mask, the Skull Kid took great delight in cursing people, but hardly ever actually killed anyone. (I struggle to think of anyone the Skull Kid killed directly.) It enjoyed bringing misery to all, likely drawing power from people's despair.
It turned the swamp waters into poison. A terrible blizzard hit Snowpeak. Storms were making Great Bay unpleasant for the Zora, and all Ikana Canyon was cursed to relive a war that no one remembers what they were fighting for. On top of more personal curses like turning Kafei into a kid. And causing great despair from pulling the moon out of the sky.
Tumblr media
Finally, it was this increased energy of despair that allowed "the spirit of the mask" to manifest a true form for itself, that you fight as "Majora's Wrath."
And in the end, Link is able to destroy this demon, the Mask becomes an ordinary item once again, and the people of Termina are freed from depair as they greet a new dawn, after that third day.
(btw, some people think "Majora's Mask" created all of Termina, and that this is some kind of pocket dimension. If so, why doesn't it disappear when the evil spirit dies? Because Termina is a real place. It's just another country. There are other countries in LoZ. Just that NIntendo doesn't want to explain things.)
And that's it. I feel it's more concise. Instead of speculating on a cosmic pantheon we will never know, the story is much simpler. The land of Termina was cursed, suffering in despair, so the Gods (Or Goddess) sent the Hero to save them.

I like to think that Queen Fairy’s, Fairies, and Sky’s Zelda has no reflection in their eyes. Instead of seeing yourself it would be something of the earth and whimsy. And so does Hyrule. That would mean he would never directly make eye contact and the chain would pay no mind; save for two. Legend and Sky.
Ganon: (shouts suddenly) What is the matter with your eyes? Why can I not see myself in your eyes?
Hyrule: *Does not say anything and turns away*
