[BotW: Family and Legacy] - Passing on the Gremlin Wisdom from one gremlin generation to the next.

Link and his sister got their Gremlin nature from Grandpa Eishun. The OG Gremlin of the family. Their dad and Grandma do not approve on some of the Gremlin advices.

Also Link is 10 and his sister, 7 years old here. They sometimes visit their grandparents in Kakariko Village with their Dad. They have their own Sheikah outfits ready by said grandparents.

In TotK's past, the various leaders all had Zonai-style animal masks. Do you think they could have been gifts from Rauru (and do you think Ganondorf got one)?

There is no doubt in my mind that those were gifts granted by Rauru. However, I do not think that the gifts were given in the name of friendship; rather I think that they were given in the name of utility, once Ganondorf became a problem that was far too difficult for Rauru and Zelda to handle alone. It's interesting to me that these masks remain one of the pertinent links we have between Zonai tech and Sheikah tech. After all, the masks the sages wore would end up becoming the bestial mechanical form we know as the divine beasts, which are Sheikah tech, showing some form of influence from Zonai tech. This tells me that the masks are not just for aesthetic wear, but must have some sort of function to it. In BotW, the champion corresponding to the divine beast they piloted does have a link in some shape or form to the present sages, thus telling me that the champions of the divine beasts do also share ancestry or legacy with the ancient sages as their present counterparts do.

Now, where am I going with this? Well, going back to the beginning, the lore in TotK suggests that Rauru did not feel compelled to share his trove of secret stones to anyone beyond the Royal Family, namely his wife and his sister. I don't know if this would have extended to Zelda or not since she arrived in the past with a secret stone in hand already (which, personally, I feel like this fact alone should have concerned Rauru and Sonia more than it did). It is only after Ganondorf snatches a stone for himself and magnifies its power to its extremes that Rauru eventually reaches out for aid from the tribes that have allied themselves with his kingdom, offering them a stone in exchange for aiding him in the war against Ganondorf.

So now what's the deal with the masks? We know nothing of the sages, not even their name, only distinguishable by the tribe (ehem race) they represent and the mask they wear. With how long lasting the symbolism of the masks have been, that they superceded even knowing the name of the sage that bore it along with the existence of the secret stones, it tells me that there must be some form of obeisance or fealty tied to the mask. I think that, after seeing how Ganondorf effectively broke out of his control after seizing a stone, Rauru was possibly wary that, in this newly formed kingdom with fresh alliances, that other leaders may have felt compelled to attempt the same after seeing Ganondorf's example. I often also think of how Rauru claims confidently that even if he were not around that his kingdom and the peace it grants will last for centuries to come, so how does he go about ensuring that? Well, now that he has to distribute the one power that granted him the sort of influence that allowed him to settle himself as king, he also needs a guarantee that the word of the tribes that have vowed allegiance and fealty to Hyrule will be maintained. Therefore, I do think that the masks serve as some form of control or binding contract, tying the sages and their descendants in fealty to Hyrule in exchange for being granted a secret stone, that their power will not be used to break free of Hyrule but to oppose her enemy aka the Demon King. This continues to be the case in the future when Calamity Ganon becomes a problem and in the creation of the Divine Beasts, perhaps an extension of the legacy of fealty the sages had given to Rauru in exchange for having the power to protect themselves and the kingdom against Ganondorf.

All that said, I do not think Rauru gave Ganondorf one and I highly doubt Ganondorf would have accepted anything of the sort from Rauru. Even if I am incorrect about the purpose of the masks, it still blatantly served as a symbol of fealty to Hyrule, erasing the sages as nothing more than glorified soldiers and vassals to assist Rauru, and by extension, Hyrule. Ganondorf is fiercely proud of both himself, his own prowess, and his heritage, and I don't see him putting on the symbol of the kingdom he despises, the symbol that would essentially prove that his place in this world is to bow his head in obeisance.

Two Suns Universe - A universe where the key sibling relationship is Adora and Kyle, rather than Adora and Catra. Includes loving siblings, redemption arcs, Crimson Waste Kyle, and Kyle x Rogelio x Bow. Lots of Kyle love.

The Wilted Flower Universe - A universe where Adora's 'dead' ( bc Catra ), but her spirit resides, and She-Ra has taken over her form, desperate to keep her wielder alive. Includes a lot of violence, arguing, and blood, as She-Ra is unhinged in this universe and I love it. Not self-cest or a She-Ra x Adora AU, don't be weird.

Pearl Of The Sea Universe - A universe where Adora is a mermaid and Entrapta finds her in her boss' lab. Includes lovers to enemies to ??? ( entrapdak ), found family, and typical corrupted workforce.

Until It Ends Universe - A universe where Adora suffers from amnesia, She-Ra is an unknown entity, and the only thing she remembers is the Sword of Protection and is meant to serve it and its legacy. Includes folklore, forming friendships, ??? to enemies ( catra ), and discovering lost memories. Inspired by BOTW.

Ready To Go Universe - A modern universe where Adora and co use social media to boost their cafe's reputation. Includes Angella being Adora's mother figure, long distance relationships, found family ( again ), and cutting ties.

The Ghost Of Her Universe - A universe where Adora is a ghost, and a friend of hers tries to figure out how she died. And Glimmer and Bow are there too. Includes abusive background, manipulation of the higher-ups ( SW and Catra don't talk about why she died ), and friendly, but sad ghost.

To Be Loved Universe - A universe in the process of being reworked, but is essentially a s5 rewrite ( with some rewritten details of previous seasons ), and Adora is allowed to swear. Incluces Catra being a cunt and getting told to fuck off, rebuilding friendships, and an unexpected pairing.

Can't Sleep Universe - A universe focused around my c*tradora kid, Elizabeth Randor ( Izzy ), who is very bitter and angry with her parents ( mostly Catra ). Includes abuse, divorce arc ( that's a thing, apparently ), and healing.

The Whispering Woods Universe - A universe where Adora is raised by Madame Razz and Light Hope and is a fierce protector of the Whispering Woods, setting up traps and making spells. She-Ra most likely doesn't exist in this AU. Includes learning about the past, Grandma // Grandkid dynamic, and Adora being a nerd.

Desert's Flowers Universe - A universe where Entrapta raises Adora instead after the little one runs away from the Horde. Includes loving mother, family to complicated, strangers to allies to friends to ??? to enemies ( entrapdak again ), and Horde Prime being a douche.

The Lightning's Song Universe - A universe where Adora was locked away in the Prison Dimension for 100 years, and is considered a 'corrupted heroine'. However, Glimmer and Bow decide to unleash her, hoping she'd be their best bet against the Horde. Includes discovering the truth, unhinged rageful Adora ( we stan ), and earning trust.

The Soulmates Universe - A more historian universe where Adora and Bow have to fake-marry for social reasons, and struggle with internalized queerphobia as they fall in love with people that aren't each other. Includes best friends, what love really means, and identity metaphors.

Danganronpa - Adora is the Ultimate Warrior, who may be considered the 'second Mukuro', depending on who you ask. Is best friends with Sakura and Hina ( including others ).

Sonic the Hedgehog - Light-hearted fun, mainly just Adora thinking Sonic is really cool and vice-versa.

Mario - Again, simply light-hearted fun, Adora thinks Peach is amazing and has her as an idol.

I know what it's like to make efforts to stay in touch with my culture and respect my ancestors and that which came before me. At times you feel lost, half yourself, torn, and otherwise unsure of who you are. People guess, and try to make assumptions about you before they want to know and the world can be unkind. I use to be bullied when I was younger because of my family standing out in the community I grew up in but no matter what I tried to stay the course and only in recent years I have found a sense of harmony in all of it.

I created Anya not just a character in a fandom I love; But I want her to be an example and a reminder that, regardless of our origins, we all possess the power to shine brightly. That we can be propelled by the legacy of our ancestors. I myself am a mixed kid (O'odham and Mexican) and hope that it resonates as I write more on how she moves forward to uncover her past and embrace her unique heritage, It can serve as a testament to the resilience and strength that lie within us all.

BOTW! Jondami

I made it based on BOTW. I love the idea of Jon the knight, and much more in the Zelda saga! Jon would be the son of Clark, who is a farmer, but originally came from the EL family, a family of royal knights. One day Jon walks through the forest in search of a lost chicken and receives the call of the master sword.

On the other hand, Damian is the heir to the Hylian crown, the problem? He is a man, so he is constantly snubbed by his father. Damian has prayed to the goddesses since he was a child so that Ganon's calamity does not strike just at a time when there was no princess heir to the sacred power of Hylia, until Jon takes the master sword. Now, Damian's weight increases, who must do everything possible to awaken his magical power before Ganon's calamity attacks, along with his royal knight, Jon.

Damian feels jealous and somewhat resentful of Jon. On the other hand, Jon must take charge of a responsibility and a legacy that he never wanted to obtain.

I'll probably do more drawings using BOTW.

tbh I just really wish Nintendo would drop the whole "Link is your link into the game" thing and just let Link be a normal character with a visible arc whose allowed to be more emotive and expressive. Fact is, if you want the protagonist to be a blank avatar for the player, Link isn't that. Link has a backstory, he has a character, a set appearance. He has friends and sometimes family who motivate his heroism. If they really felt committed to this "Link is a blank slate" thing, then Link..... wouldn't be Link. He'd be like The Last Dragonborn from Skyrim, with no set race or appearance, no backstory or personality.

They're never going to "retire" him, and I don't think they should. I like Link! He's an iconic video game protagonist and way too beloved to go anywhere. I just don't understand why they're so married to never letting him be a real character! With the advent of non-linearity, Link not being allowed to have a visible, on-screen arc will only make the story of the games suffer more and more as each one has to find a way to write a story where the protagonist mostly spectates the story.

Just let Link be a character!!!! He could be interesting, BotW sneaking in depth for him via Zelda's diary proves that! Deconstructing his legacy as the ever-reincarnated hero of Hyrule is extremely interesting, actually!!!!! Nintendo, please! You have changed so much about the series this era of LoZ, I b e g that you put the effort you've been putting into Zelda and her arcs into Link as well!!!!!

Well, my fem!Link isn't too different from her canon counterpart, other than how she's viewed by other people and how that affects her, so a lot of these can be applied to botw/totk Link in general lol.

-Loves Gerudo Town, Urbosa has practically adopted her, they went on molduga hunts pre-calamity, she passes on the legacy to Riju and becomes her white older sister. They go sand seal surfing a lot, Link even has her own sand seal that she leaves in the city when she's not there. She is well known among the Gerudo as the short hylian who carries around monster guts and is always willing to babysit.

-has primary custody of the goddess harp (yk bc of that one concept art of link playing it), and while she can't do any magic with it, she likes to play it when the world is too quiet or she's away from Zelda and is thinking of her.

-Mipha still has a crush on her but with her being both hylian and a woman it's extra forbidden. The Zora are a little more chill about her being a holy prophesized warrior, but not when it comes to marrying into royal families. They just aren't biologically compatible in any way so if they had anything going on it was brief and when they were both young.

-She almost killed Bozai, not like, she held herself back from slicing him in half, but like she beat him within an inch of his life in front of the Gerudo guards. He deserves it.

-Link takes every opportunity presented to her to carry Zelda around, If she falls asleep at her desk or needs help getting on her horse, or if she tripped on a rock, Link will not hesitate to scoop her up in her arms. She kinda loves demonstrating that she is in fact, very strong.

-Aside from the master sword, Link prefers claymores and lynel clubs over spears and shorter swords. While she does look strong, she doesn't look like she's supposed to be able to carry around a weapon and swing it around like she does, I mean, she's still short. No Link can escape that fate.

-Still suffers from the hero-typical mutism, she only really talks to people she really trusts or when she is absolutely pissed. While it's not originating from the pressures of everyone's expectations, it's still bad enough that it affects her everyday life. And because it isn't from everyone putting all their faith in her, it's still extremely prevalent after she wakes from the shrine.

-can pet dogs

-Is actually really good friends with the great fairies, had to have a few conversations about boundaries but they're generally very nice and their actions are more motivated by ignorance to the average hylian experience rather than malice. Sometimes she falls asleep by their flowers because of the calming aura of the spring. It also helps that their magic repels monsters.

At least ganon admits riju shouldn’t be on the throne as she is a child but he doesn’t try to go against her maybe he might become a big brother figure to her if she and the gerudo give him the chance

Like it’s the first time a gerudo male is freed from the malice in all the eras till botw and totk no gerudo male was free only one being groose but he was at the start of the curse of demise cycle

Also I seen a fan comic with a good gandorf interacting with link and he tells link a male gerudo’s job is to be the replacement father that the young vai of gerudo town as they lose their real ones when they are called back and till they can leave the town to return to their families

I wonder if Riju or any of the gerudo change this ‘law’ abit as after meeting link in TOTK after saving the town the women realize voe aren’t that bad and loosen Abit up on some laws

A big reason I had Ganondorf not try to restore his "rightful claim" to the throne is because through his time in the Malice he grew extremely jaded with the concept of "true kings". It's even why he decided to hide his name, now steeped in infamy, and stick with his last name "Dragmire" when stepping up to his new role as foreman of Kara Kara.

It also shows his growth as a character throughout that time. His title is a part of the past he refuses to cling to, now. Propping up legacy for legacy's sake is exactly how Hyrule fell 100 years ago, and the many times before that. He refuses to make the same mistakes of the past - and let someone else take up the mantle for a change.

Hello, everyone!!!! It's that time of year again!!! Now, I know that in the past two years, I haven't been very reliable at getting out my Christmas requests, and I greatly apologize for this. my main waiting room is a cozy beach house, with no people except me and my boyfriend (group shifting here with him). its pretty neat, i have a tv with a streaming service that has every show and movie on it, and through the streaming service i can choose what art style/medium i want to view the show or movie in. so i could watch like the office in the style of into the spiderverse or something lmao. but yeah its mostly just a big house with a library and an indoor pool and other cool stuff on the beach where i get to hang out and play baldurs gate 3 all day. i can also shift to any dr from there.

[BotW/TotK Family and Legacy] - Ghost dad and son adventures in the Depths!

This is a little fun idea I had in mind while playing TotK as well as comic practice! For a bit of background, Link met his Dad's spirit in the Depths. His Dad (Jun) wanted to see his son again after striking a bargain with the Bargainer and goes on a mini-adventure in the Depths. Jun also sees his wife (Selene) through his son, especially now that Link's a young adult.

There's a lot more unspoken context for this but that's a Tedtalk for another day....hopefully. I built up so much of this family during the four years of waiting until TotK's release...

Honestly you being on a Revali phase again is kind of good timing because I've been playing TotK since Christmas and I keep thinking about how like. Tulin's whole thing sorta implies that just like with the other peoples, some Rito having the ability to directly control wind is a long-running thing, and it's hereditary to the Sage of Wind's family line. Except. Revali isn't in that family line (if he was, it definitely would've come up at some point). Which at least to me suggests that the Rito Champion was probably "supposed" to be someone else — Teba's great grandpa or something — but Revali literally changed destiny and supplanted them just by his own skill and willpower and nothing else. And that's honestly just really badass.

(Also, I am thinking so much about the potential of a Revali & Tulin friendship)

oops late reply sorry! i remember that detail and ive heard people discuss it before! it's like the only bone totk throws revali (while actively spitting on his legacy in other ways. i cannot fucking forgive this game for giving the ancient sage the great eagle bow). it's a genuinely fascinating detail because revali was already an outlier among the champions due to not having nobility or being naturally born with his gale like the other champions were with theirs. and now he's even further an outlier because all of the other champions (aside from link obvs) have that relation to the ancient sages through the new sages. all of the champions and new sages are related to their respective ancient sages EXCEPT for revali.

in the botw dlc he laments the fact that he doesn't think anybody in rito village even remembers him (side-eyeing totk for making that fear come true) but he made a place for himself into a legacy that didn't originally involve him. the rito champion could've very well been teba's grandad or something instead. but no he put himself into that remarkable position and i'm going to be proud of him even if nintendo doesn't want to acknowledge that.

zelda and mipha are interesting foils not because of their relationships with link, but just as princesses living on in the memory of their people. all of zelda’s accomplishments in her lifetime, her curiosity and her compassion, are completely overshadowed by her inability to access her powers. she fears her perception across hyrule is that she is a failure. her father reinforces this by forbidding her to do anything that isn’t mastering the skill that will defeat ganon, which absolutely no one can tell her how to do.

meanwhile, mipha is lauded among the zora for her bravery and her skill with the spear. she’s remembered as a prodigy, their kind-hearted princess who was martyred trying to stop the calamity. she’s so beloved her father even hopes that she was simply trapped in ruta, still alive and able to be rescued, rather than killed.

mipha’s family and friends mourn her into the present of botw. they erect a statue of her. her loss is as fresh as when it first happened. she has not yet passed into legend.

very few people alive remember meeting zelda, in part because hylians don’t have as long a lifespan as the zora, and also because she worked so much on her training she didn’t interact as much with her people. traveling around in botw, she is most often referred to as the princess, sometimes a beautiful one. many people feel indebted to her for fighting the calamity, but they don’t know her. she’s a vague idea people have, a historical figure they can put away in their minds.

except there’s link. he doesn’t remember zelda at first, but he can free her. she’s not dead! she’s still fighting. she’s /alive/.

in totk, so many people know zelda! she’s been traveling hyrule to help rebuild. she gardens. she teaches. people describe her as compassionate because they have experienced it firsthand instead of from their textbooks.

and there’s a lesson here about how important it is to live. mipha is adored, but her spirit was laid to rest. she piloted ruta and completed her duty. the zora no longer have any questions about her death. she is at peace, and life can go on.

zelda, in surviving, can keep building her legacy. she can tell new stories, experience new discoveries, make new connections. the princess of the old stories is being rewritten every day into the neighbor, the teacher, the princess of today.

no matter how great the sacrifice, how loved you are at death, it’s in living you have the most power.

I like speculating about how some of the Zelda NPCs, especially legacy/returning/"reincarnating" characters and races, relate to each other across the games. Here's one such headcanon:

SkSw Beedle got rich after the game and became the founder of the Skulltula House from OoT. Meanwhile, WW Beedle is the descendant of this family. Why?

First of all, have you seen the guys from the Skulltula family? Same brown bowlcut, same frugal/greedy outlook on life. Case closed.

Well, the hair are different, but not vastly enough to disprove blood connection.

In all of his appearances (except BoTW probably, I don't know much about it), this dude always sells at least one item that'd be suspiciously expensive/hard for a regular merchant to obtain. Okay, Heart Pieces/Containers turn up in random peoples' posession often enough... But in MC he sells Picolyte, a liquid produced by the very elusive Minishes. Not to mention how in WW/PH he has a whole separate Curiocity Shop of sorts. Suspicious — unless all these Beedles have some sort of old money that can help with getting some of the more exotic stock.

Link, with all the dungeon-crawling and helping people, has quite a lot of money on him, and therefore can be a generous patron. And in SkSw specifically, Beedle's stock is probably the most expansive.

Spiders hunt insects, and SkSw Beedle is a bug collector.

My blog isn’t dedicated to one subject in particular. So this is a short “about me” as well as a list of my usual "content" that I reblog, or once in a while post about. I'm making this because I've suddenly started getting followers recently and want them to know the kind of trashcan fire they're getting into.

I’m a 25 year old girl from the United States, specifically, North Carolina. I’m a student, currently attending my local community college and I’m still deciding what it is I’d like to pursue afterward. I work in a hospital as a pharmacy tech and I've been a technician for about 5 years. I prefer to remain slightly anonymous on here, going by Snow rather than my name, because I guess I’m embarrassed of myself and my interests? I don’t know. I mean, I don’t share anything dirty or “bad” but I’d die if my mom ever found this... weird, huh? I have a “real” blog as well, where I’d like to share some of my art or writing and I do use my real name and everything.

I love to write and I hope to publish my own books someday, as I’ve had several plotted out for quite some time now. Alas, I enjoy reading other books more than I enjoy finding time to write... I love to read so much. I love art of all kinds, I do digital art and also traditional mediums; watercolor, oil, acrylic, sketching, markers, colored pencils, ink, etc, I love learning new art tricks. I love the VOCALOID software and have been using it since I was 13, I’m partial to my girl, SeeU. I enjoy the occasional video game. I love animals, so so much. And I adore music and will listen to anything once, so my playlist goes from broadway to K-pop to the 50′s to today’s hits- you get the idea.

1. how do you feel about reblog karma?

I always respect it when others express a preference, and I generally try to reblog from the source. With that said, for me personally? I don't give a damn! You've all probably noticed I reblog a lot of memes, and if you see something that catches your eye I want you to go for it! That's half the reason I reblog stuff in the first place. If someone does reblog from me, I usually try to send something in since they seem interested, but I don't mind one way or the other if they do the same. I'm old and tired and that kind of thing rolls of my back anymore.

5. is there a muse you really want to try? if yes: what’s stopping you?

I don't have any new muses that I'm particularly interested in, but I've considered picking Urbosa back up. I used to have her on my multimuse blog in the before times, but she didn't see much action. I also feel like so much of my Urbosa is wrapped up in extremely personal headcanons that, even if they're not canon-divergent, might put people off. I might look to it in the future, but I've got my hands full with Nabs as it is right now.

10. what genre do you most enjoy, whether in roleplay, or fiction as a whole? (fantasy, period, superhero, etc.)

I like very light scifi - specifically cyberpunk and steampunk - as well as historical fantasy. I've never been one much for medieval high fantasy, but there's been an explosion in recent years of western fantasy, 19th century fantasy, old classical fantasy, and so forth. I get much, much more into that.

My roleplay reflects that to some degree. Though I usually have modern verses for my muses, I've never played a straightforward modern realistic muse. I don't even think I've played a modern-setting fantasy muse, come to think of it. I've historically played some variety of fantasy or historical muse, from the Queen of Hearts to Carlotta Guidicelli.

11. describe your ideal outcome/endgame for the muse you are currently writing. if you are a multimuse blog: do this for your current favorite muse, or the muse of the last reply you posted.

As some of you know, I'm a fairly prolific fic writer for botw and oot alike, so strictly speaking, I've already played this out. I do hc that Nabooru was the sage Ganondorf killed in the leadup to Twilight Princess yes that's canon divergent, no I don't care, but her ideal scenario is just letting her people to their own devices. In a realistic scenario, she and the Gerudo tribe peacefully live out their days as nomads and quietly rebuild their numbers, skill, and culture until one day they can stand up to other nations again without resorting to self-destructive tactics. In a Hollywood "happily ever after" scenario, another worthy chieftain would arise and Nabooru could go back to only being a Heirophant and leave the governance to the chieftain. She's still content with the legacy she leaves behind, and spends the afterlife as a servant of her people, as she did during her life.
