@incandescentflower said (paraphrasing) “There should be a PPT for MTYL, not enough people are watching. But I have no skills for them.” I said “Hold my stuffed animal, I am on it!” One late evening brainstorming session later, here we are.
This is our call for you to watch this wonderful drama that is My Tooth Your Love.
This is gonna be an experience. Lots of questioning being worthy of love, looks like panic attacks, some boss/employee and some dentist/patient and emotional issues and lots of jealousy. Am I totally sure what's going on? NOPE. But it's coming to Gaga and it's from Taiwan and that's enough for meeeee. Oh, also, 12 year age gap? Nice. @absolutebl Taiwan is the blessing we need but don't deserve.

Synopsis : Bai Lang is a bar-restaurant owner with an all-too-familiar phobia. Ever since he was a young child, he has dreaded having to go to the dentist, nothing frightens him more than the idea of having to have his teeth checked. But all that changes on the day that he visits the Gao Leng Dental Hospital – and meets the hospital’s chief dentist Jin Xun An.
Jin Xun An is not like any dentist Bai Lang has met before. He is gentle, caring and kind, and Bai Lang begins to feel that Jin Xun An sees him as more than a patient. Can love really spark between a dentist and his patient? (MDL)

My ears pricked up immediately when I heard Bai Lang at the market calling the stall owner “towkay / 頭家 ”, which is what you’d call the boss of a stall in Taiwanese, not Mandarin. Most Taiwanese dramas use Mandarin, with a sprinkling of Taiwanese words or phrases.
*Bai Lang uses both towkay / 頭家 and laoban / 老闆 in his exchange with the stall owner.
According to a Taiwanese friend from Southern Taiwan, towkay is preferred because it sounds more friendly and casual than “laoban / 老闆”, which is a more formal term for a stall owner. The term, towkay, is more commonly used in Southern Taiwan than in Taipei, where laoban is often used.
No one wants to invite someone they're falling for into their trauma, even when it's evident the person who can help heal them is right in front of them. Hang in there, Jin Xun An, Bai Lang will get there. 🥺🫂
My sad and tired brain decided over lunch that I could do nothing else that write Bai Lang being sad and tired and unable to sleep from episode 7 while we wait for episode 8 so have a second fic for this fandom.

I have never been so emotionally won over by a calmly taken u-turn but it's just such a good moment, choosing to return to someone he saw hurting and knew needed support and help but wouldn't ask for it or accept it otherwise.
So he turned around and he asks permission to come in and the door between them is opened and there's so much more than a door being opened and a car being turned around and ginger tea being offered as they shiver together. (Also, they both open the door together, unlocking and opening the door is a shared action because they're both opening up.)
And the grasp at his shirt, the final ask to stay, the need to not be alone in a storm and in fear so old that he can't voice it but he can try. He can talk around the fear, come up with a thousand reasons for him to stay because he's so tired of being alone.
