Eye of the strorm

Its been so long i have posted sth here, i guess i was quite occupied with my school life, at least i would like to believe that way regardless of what the actual reason is hahaha

I guess the world around me has been in absolute mess right now, especially my nationality of being a South Korean makes the world i live in an absolutely chaotic one; the recent political scandal has brought about huge shock and anger to the citizens of Korea, as the principle of democracy as well as the concept of “people’s government” has been toppled over by an single individual who played around and exploited the authority of the president herself for one’s individual wealth and gain. Being a nation that overcame dictatorship through blood and tears of the patriots just 30-40 years ago, the reiteration of the political tyranny in the year 2016 seemed to be a traumatic repetition of the bloody era where people’s voice were suppressed by propaganda and violence.

Although i am a student studying overseas with no means of participating in current protests and people’s peaceful democratic movements, i just wanted to say that i am really really proud and thankful to have fellow citizens who are brave and patriotic enough to come out to street and fight for the truth and return of the democratic nation that we desire for 

Press on citizens of Korea, lets show the world the patriotism of the Koreans and how we can earn back the precious democracy from the corrupt leaders who are using the nation as their means of accumulating wealth and power.

Yesterday I went to the biggest Protest in Korean History - 1 million, all in Gwang-Hwa-Moon Square, and in front of Chung-Wa-De (Korean Blue House).

I know some koreans out there are hesitant to voice their political opinions. I know that times are hard, that you may be content with simply news and papers.

But hear me out.

What Park-Guen-Hye has done is unforgivable. When I was younger, when she was elected president, I wasn’t really interested in politics - I was simply a child then. But now seeing as I am a teenager ready to dip into more mature events such as politics, I will NOT stand by and let her ruin my country.

Me and my family attended the protest while carrying candles, because this is a peace protest, while holding candles in the dark. We screamed out protests.

My mom was reluctant in letting me go, because from what she stated, she thinks “she knows nothing about politics and what’s going on, yet she’s going because she’s excited!”

Yes, mom. I am excited. I am also angry. I may not know enough to suffice or to pass as a person expert or “allowed” to protest about politics, but I know.

I know that this is not the country I dreamed living in as a child. I know something is wrong. I know that it is within my rights as a Korean, I can and will protest if there is something wrong in democracy. I will not stand here and let somebody in such an important place and responsibility to take away the country I have lived in - and probably will live in further in my life.

I am a teenager. I will protest. I will voice my true opinion, along with other millions of koreans who share the same thoughts.

I may be young, mom. But I will not step down, just because I am a teenager.

Choi Soon-sil, Who is she?

So everyone who has some degree of interest in this issue have heard this name being reiterated countless times in newspaper, but few of the readers know about her well enough to truly understand the long and complex history and relationship between her and the president that led to this utter atrocity.

This is the picture of Ms Choi, the so called the mastermind behind the current scandal as she is accused of literally controlling the state-related political decision makings with several evidences of her intervention being seen from history of Ms Choi amending the scripts of the presidents speech for various state events and press conferences

Ms Choi Soon-sil was born in 1956 as fifth daughter of Mr Choi Tae-min, a shadowy quasi-religious leader who was closely linked to Ms Park's father, then-president Park Chung-hee. Mr Choi Tae min had total of 6 wives and 9 children, and it was told that he had specially strong affection for Ms Choi due to her possession of so called the spiritual talent that was passed down from her father- the leader of the religious cult, “Young Sae Kyo(永世敎)” that can also be translated as the “teaching of the eternal world”

As discovered by the press, she was made the leader of the cult after the passing of her father due to this spiritual ability of predicting future via dream, which explains the reason for the constant mentioning of the word “Cult” that readers often encounter in the article pertaining to the issue- The direct relationship of Ms Choi to the religious cult has translated into interpretation that Religious cult has taken over the power of the Korean government.

According to sources she had her first marriage in 1982 followed by divorce in 1985, after which she had her second marriage in 1995, from which she gave birth to her daughter Jeong Yu-ra, also one of the main actors in the political scandal. This second marriage also ended in divorce as well.

Now you have knowledge on the main actor of the event, i will start to introduce other main actors as well as the main events that has happened past few months that led to escalation of the incident.
