this was supposed to be two paragraphs long,,, anyway, little idea i had:

au where paladin mike is so caught up in winning all his battles that, when he is on the verge of finally losing a campaign and therefore a whole war, he is quick to make a deal with a powerful god to salvage the situation and emerge victorious once more.

so he makes this pact. offers his eternal loyalty to this god in exchange for good luck and near invincibility, then continues waging his kingdom's war as they conquer new lands. he never once doubts his purpose within the king's reign, nor does he question why the deity he made a pact with never asked for anything in return for their favour other than for mike to keep fighting.

that is, until the day of his final mission, where he's tasked with conquering a small village that will grant the kingdom undisputed advantage over their enemies.

so he goes. single-handedly slaughters everyone who gets in his way. destroys all defences the town ever had and makes his way to the town hall to claim his victory. as he walks, he steps over the bodies of his victims and something in the back of his mind tells him this is wrong; urges him to look at the weapons his enemies were carrying and realise that they were nothing but farming tools and normal household utensils.

but his bloodlust doesn't simmer down until the very moment when he walks over the corpses of his entire family and beloved childhood friends.

the people he loved most, all slaughtered by none other than him.

all because the god had granted him with good luck, near invincibility, and a terrible fog that would settle in his brain every time mike picked up a sword, blinding him from seeing the world as it truly was —his "enemies" as they truly were—; forcing him to fight and feed the god more and more blood until every living being in the periphery was dead.

so there, amidst the ruins of his hometown and surrounded by the bodies of everyone he ever cared for, mike makes a promise: he vows to kill this god, no matter what it takes, and avenge the lives of all the people he killed in their name.

(all the people who now haunt his every move, phantasms of his victims teasing and torturing him every waking minute as punishment for breaking the deal he'd made)

,,,but of course, a human killing a god by themselves is not easy and thus, mike makes yet another deal, convinced that he's got nothing left to lose.

so this time he makes a deal with a demon, one that's long waited for the moment someone made mike's mistake and required his assistance. one that doesn't have a hidden agenda and truly just wants to see this pretty little human kill god with his bare hands.

and thus, a new partnership is born: will gleefully offers his services and guidance to mike, leading him through a vast battlefield full of enemies of all sorts (divine and otherwise) and, whenever the situation is dire, offering his strength and power to the frail human, their selves merging into one for limited time and only separating once they are both covered in blood.

the catch ? with every time will possesses mike, the human will lose a memory of the people he loved, insignificant at first, then more and more important as time goes on until there is nothing left in mike's brain but the demon's name and the bloodlust that led him here in the first place.

but such is the price mike has to pay if he is to fulfil his promise.

so oblivion it is.

(this is obviously inspired by the original god of war trilogy so, for extra horror, please imagine that mike's punishment for breaking the deal with god includes him being covered in the ashes of his loved ones, a cruel, constant reminder of what he did to them, his reflection becoming yet another sight to torment him until the day he dies)

CatCFember - Day 13 - Violet B. (Factory Rejects)

Post-Factory Violet had a lot of confidence issues, and one most prominent was regarding her discolouration. For the majority of the planned story, she wore contrasting bright colours (never blue) and covered as much as skin as she could.

Her story- like the others- was very much 'coming to terms with change caused by trauma, and accepting that this is your life now'. She did, eventually; but it took a lot of time, a lot of internalised rejection, and eventually a support system of people who care (and fighting her dad, who was handling his own fear in all the wrong ways).

I heart shitting on total trauma and I’ve seen not a lot of people mention how hard they butcher the girls (to be fair they butcher everyone)

(Btw the creator goes by pri/prin pronouns and we should respect that regardless of who prin is)

Like, making Sierra out to be a literal cheater and then forgiving it because “she’s aromantic” is REALLY GROSS as an aromantic greysexual person.

This one’s been talked to death but prin making Courtney into someone who dates barely legal 19 year olds while seeing that relationship as cute for the most part is weird and very telling of how they treat minors in real life

I don’t even want to go into their characterization of zoey.

Lindsay having dissociative amnesia, while interesting, is written extremely poorly and her abandoning her identity and then taking it back at the drop of a hat is super stupid. (This is coming from someone from a system and thus, experiences dissociative amnesia and identity issues)

We’re also not getting into the weird overly hot depiction of mikes abuser

While barely shown as of writing this take given prins track record Amy’s NPD is most likely going to be given very little of the care and respect it deserves

I really don’t fucking like this comic! Subzero level take but there are still some things I haven’t seen discussed which probably should be addressed considering the harm they can do

my brother's watching evangelion and i can barely remember the plot, but here's an idea:

au where mike is a mech pilot who's long forgotten how to feel. who only knows how to kill and be part of the machine.

he obviously didn't start off this way, of course. as a child, he used to be vivacious and energetic; full of dreams and creative ideas he constantly shared with his friends. but then he grew older and the people around him pressured him into joining nerv and, because he isn't strong, fast, and no one would listen to the ideas of a complete newcomer, he somehow ended up piloting a mech unit, his determination and desire to prove he could be useful somehow rendering him an amazing pilot.

so he dedicated himself to it. volunteered to take on other pilots' shifts. spent far too much time in the machine for it to be healthy but it was the only way he could be helpful in humanity's struggle against the destructive angels. the only thing he was good at. little by little, he grew used to the many negative symptoms of being inside the biomechanic suit, and even came to think of them as normal. little by little, his brash and defiant personality mellowed out and soon, he became a husk of his former self, the only emotion he knows anymore being that of constant anxiety but not from having to get inside the mech.

from being away from it.

from having to rest in a home where nobody will talk to him anymore; from having to go to school and see the classmates who are now afraid of him; from being forced to spend time with "friends" who don't even address his mere presence unless it's to remind him of his place.

from having to walk amidst humans who only see him as a tool, just as easily breakable as he is replaceable.

and he is. replaceable, that is. he's a frail flesh being with a mind that could easily collapse if he's not careful, and whom the higher-ups would never hesitate to toss in the trash if they ever deemed him ineffective. whom the machine could simply go on without should he not be in perfect working order, ready to help it fulfil its duty.

that's why he must devote his entire self to his mech. that's why he mustn't think, talk or question orders and instead wait patiently for any and all indications. because he needs this. he needs to be good, follow the rules and fulfil his role; he needs to be a perfect engine part and work for the body he's become a part of as best as he can. he's eager, desperate to obey and serve this being for which he feels he was made for, and anything that distracts him from his only purpose is not worth any attention.

he's no longer human. he's only a cog.

and maybe he would question this conclusion he's come to if anyone told him he was wrong. if someone reminded him of his humanity and his life before nerv,,,

but everyone seems to agree with his assessment. in fact, everyone's been instructed to treat him as an object by nerv's higher ups, and everyone is happy to oblige and perpetuate mike's self-dehumanisation.

,,,everyone but the mech technician who's been tasked with helping mike and his mech recover after a bad encounter with an angel. who constantly pushes for conversations even if he never gets a reply, who learns to give him faux orders to get basic answers out of him, and who eventually figures out that the only time he can talk to mike (the only time mike's conditioned himself to allow himself to think) is when he's inside his mech.

the mech technician who is secretly an angel and whose plan to destroy nerv from within has taken a detour for he really wants to see what mike can do (for or against the angels) once he's taught it's okay for him to be human again.

(in this au, brenner's the head of nerv, henry and willel were normal children who he turned into angels, and mike's the poor soul he's picked to see what happens if a human deludes themselves into seeing themselves exclusively as part of the mech (a process mike unwittingly began by himself and brenner merely picked up on and decided to exacerbate). oh, and of course, will's the angel who nearly took out mike~ )
