Not her coming out with an album with a long ass title. She wants to be Lana so bad. SZA was robbed for AOTY, Kelly Clarkson was robbed for best pop VOCAL album (I mean, c'mon now).

Scammys are constantly snubbing Black creators in the major categories. Only 3 black women have won AOTY in the 66 years of the Grammys existence. Two of those albums were cover albums of mainly white acts ( Unforgettable...with Love by Natalie Cole and The Bodyguard Soundtrack by Whitney Houston). The last BW that won AOTY was Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" which won 25 YEARS AGO.Even Mariah Carey hadn't won this category. What baffles me the most is the fact that the most awarded artist in the Grammys history hadn't won a single one AOTY and only has 1 (ONE!) award from the big 4 (Record of the year, Song of the Year, Album of the year and best new artist). She'd won it for Single Ladies. Out of all the hit songs she has, that was the only one that got awarded (imo one of her worst songs).

Renaissance got snubbed last year. And this year we see a tendency of streaming artists (Ariana's newest song comes to mind first) following the Renaissance's sound and house music's becoming trendy again. The Grammy voters even said 'We didn't vote for Beyonce on AOTY because she's won too many already'. Too many my ass. This woman's won only one Grammy outside of the genre category. And the genre categories they put black and brown people in are truly outrageous. No matter what they do, no matter how many new sounds and sub genres they invent, they will always be boxed into R&B and Urban categories. I mean, her country song from 'Lemonade' album 'Daddy Lessons' got snubbed in the country category and got rejected a nomination for being 'not country enough'. Bitch, please. From the first five seconds it's obvious to even non-country listener that it in fact, is a country song. And people that vote for this stuff are supposedly professional musicians and music experts. These same people box The Weeknd's music into R&B categories when he's clearly making pop music.

Jay-Z's speech was just a cherry on top for me. After Swift in her acceptance speech said that " I want to say 'thank you' to the members of the recording academy for voting this way but I know that the way that the recording academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans" while smugly polishing the Grammy, this man went on stage to get his lifetime achievement thingy and completely obliterated the same institution that Swift was ass kissing just a few minutes prior. He went on and said: " We want y'all to get it right. At least get it close to right. And obviously it's subjective because it's music and it's opinion based. [About his wife] She has more Grammys than everyone and never won AOTY so even by your own metrics that doesn't work. Think about that: the most Grammys, never won AOTY. That doesn't work. Some of you are going to go home tonight and feel like you've been robbed. Some of you may get robbed, some of you don't belong in the category. *everyone gags* No, no. When I get nervous... I tell the truth. But outside of that, we got to keep showing up. And forget the Grammys for a second, just in life, you gotta keep showing up until they give you all those accolades you feel you deserve, until they call you chairman, until they call you a genius, until they call you the greatest of all time". To me that sounds like "POC have to work twice as hard to get half as far". Not a big Jay fan but the speech was great. I'm sure he got his ass whooped on the way home for saying that.

Then the Grammys have proven him right by celebrating white mediocrity by giving Midnights AOTY. The outrageous thing is, only three Black women have won AOTY, she now has four. And many talented black people don't have a single one. The bodies of work that transcend genres, cultures and languages. The bodies of work that have much better musical components and lyrical content. The bodies of work that can stand the test of times and sound fresh and new even 10 years after their release. Artists that aren't afraid to step out of their comfort zone, experiment with genres (Whatever Swift calls 'experiments' don't go outside of the pop genre (Country-pop (Red), synth-pop (1989, Lover), electropop (rep, Lover), acoustic pop and alt-pop (Folkmore)). Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, TLC, Missy Elliott, Usher, Kanye (his artistic side), Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Frank Ocean, and many more black music creators deserve their flowers. They are the ones that are inventing new shit and setting trends in various genres of music, they are the ones that put the most effort into their presentation and live performances. I'm sick and tired of the major showbiz institutions overlooking black, brown, asian, indigenous excellence. These people deserve to be rewarded for their hard work in the same capacity these institutions reward white (anglo) people. I'm sick of people celebrating white mediocrity and overlooking art of different cultures, ethnicities, races.

Now she's gonna be insufferable for at least another year. I've been listening and enjoying her music for the past 5-6 years (not a fan but a casual listener) for the lyrical content of her songs but she's not a poet in any way. Lana's been a staple for me in that regard. And the fact that she dragged her on stage to have that "Adele to Beyonce" moment just gave me the ick. I wouldn't be surprised if Swifties are taking Jay-Z's speech as a sub for TS's wins (haven't gone on twitter yet). I mean, if the shoe fits. Also wouldn't be surprised if she herself took it as a jab to her ego. She's also clearly drunk and possibly on some ❄️ (just my opinion). The only deserved AOTY she has is the Folklore one. And don't get me started on her EMMY win. The fact that a visual masterpieces like Lemonade and Homecoming lost to Carpool Karaoke is absolutely absurd to me. Also the fact that her visual album for her "Lion King" project wasn't even nominated when every single one of those in the category were comedy specials is especially infuriating (If anyone's interested, some of the music videos are up on Youtube). And Swift comes along and swoops up hers in a bullshit category with no actual nominees? Nah, things don't work like that. Or at least, they shouldn't.

Anyway, SZA and Lana were robbed. Victoria Monet's won Best New Artist, Miley got her first win, Phoebe Bridgers went home with the most wins of the night and everyone only talks about Taylor Swift. I'm patiently waiting for the tower to fall. She desperately needs a reality check. This drunkard didn't even acknowledge Celine Dion who handed her the award. I mean, she didn't even look at her. But proceeded to have a cringe and unnecessary handshake with Jack Antonoff. You're in a professional setting, behave like an adult and save those handshakes for the afterparty or do it behind the stage after giving a speech. She proceeded to drag Lana on stage to the point where she was trying not to fall. At this point I'm convinced that swifties have brainwashed her into the thinking that the nicest thing she can do for someone is grace them with her presence. Ana Clara's family serves as a great example.

Her hair was a miss, she looked like she was wearing a wedding gown and the black gloves didn't help. Her make up made her look old. Her accessories were excessive and tacky and it looked like she was also wearing hip pads, shoes were giving late 00s-early 10s. Overall, fire the whole styling team. You're a global superstar that's a billionaire and you look cheap as fuck.

TL;DR : She shouldn't have won. Lana and SZA were robbed. She once again made the night about herself and her narcissism peaked in the moments where she'd accepted her awards. Black creators are criminally overlooked. She ass kissed the grammy voters and Jay-Z shamed them just a few minutes later and was right. She needs to get rid of her stylist, hair stylist and make up artist. Another drunk award show. Beyonce should have at least one AOTY. Sick and tired of people celebrating white mediocrity in show business.

You remember how in Ms Goldenweek's cover story, we get to see how the former Baroque Works agents have all beated up the other cellmates they had (not just in the mens' cells but also womens')

The way Daz is sitting on top of one of the prisoners, as if he was sitting on a throne or something, it definitely makes it look like he at least participated in the fight that took place, right

It just makes me wonder, did Crocodile himself participate in the cell fight, or did Daz handle it all on his own?

Like even with the Seastone cuffs Crocodile's hook alone should give him the most unfair advantage in a prison fight imaginable, so you'd think he'd be more than capable of defending himself if he felt like it. But also, considdering he didn't feel like even escaping prison... was he even in the mood for a fight? Like I don't think Crocodile would just allow some random, weak-ass pirates to beat his ass without a fight, but also... I can't help but to wonder... (Look you tell me what kind of a mental state Crocodile was in after his 4 year long plan to take over a country was foiled by a kid in flip flops)

Is it possible Daz took out all those other prisoners by himself (without Crocodile nor Mr 4 assisting him), either to make sure his boss didn't have to waste his strenght on them, or... did he maybe deal with the other prisoners to... protect Crocodile? Like the former would be straight forward manly man anime loyalty, nothing worth making a deepdive for, this is One Piece we get the trope. But isn't the latter option also plausible? 'Cause. Like. Daz was loyal enough to Crocodile to willingly go to Impel Fucking Down with his former boss whom he had only known for like a day or two at this point (I mean IDK how long it took for the BW members to get shipped to this Marine Base from Alabasta but you know what I mean). If some random criminals wanted to pick a fight with Crocodile in prison and he just seemed like he didn't feel like dealing with it, if Daz's was down to go to Impel Down with Croc, then would he not be willing to defend the man too??

Regardless, it just raises the question of... why? Why did Daz choose stay with Crocodile, despite Baroque Works failing so hard? Why did he choose to become loyal to such a cruel, horrible man?

Sad thing is, because we don't really know much about Daz, there isn't actually that much to go off-of to properly speculate here. But we do know Daz once dreamt of becoming a superhero! The irony of course being that not only he became a terrifying murder man, but also that he seems to lack that "superhero quality" of being... easily approachable, friendly, warm? Like he is a man of steel, but he's not The Man of Steel, you get me? But Daz's dream does tell us something interesting though; that deep inside, even if he doesn't show it at all, he might like the idea of being a hero? Like the concept of being a hero and saving people may have appealed to him, right? Because that's what being a hero is about, the heroic ideals of upholding peace and justice (and looking cool while doing it)

And arguably that idea still appeals to Daz. Even if he's frowning, deep inside he was enjoying the superhero costume Ms Goldenweek created, even if he can't admit it.

But in One Piece, the idea of being a "hero of justice" has quite different connotations than in our world. After all, the Marines are meant to embody that very idea, just in a far less cool, romantic way. We know the World Government is extremely corrupt, we know of the atrocities the Marines have and are willing to commit in the name of their so-called "justice".

So while it's entirely plausible Daz might've fallen "out of love" with his dream simply because his life just... lead him down a different path, and he didn't seem to have the right personality for it anyways... Knowing the WG, isn't it also possible Daz could have become kind of... jaded, knowing the "real life heroes" of his world aren't that cool, and don't actually stand for the ideals he may have looked up to?

And then he finds himself working for a man who seemingly wants to overthrow that very same corrupt Government?

Here's my theory on new megas for Z-A

New Gen 1 megas: unnecessary, but given Game Freak's Genwunner bias, it's inevitable

New Gen 2 megas: since almost all gen2 pokemon are pretty bad due to the power creep over the years, getting some new megas for these guys would be great

New Gen 3 megas: unlikely since we got a bunch of gen3 megas in ORAS

New Gen 4 megas: also unlikely since we just got a bunch of gen4 content in bdsp and legends arceus

New Gen 5 megas: pretty likely, given how much Game Freak was teasing BW content leading up to Pokemon Day

New Gen 6 megas: despite the fact that mega evolution came out in this gen, there is only 1 gen6 mega, which is Diancie, so hopefully the Gen 6 game will add Gen 6 megas

New Gen 7-9 megas: since mega evolution was "scrapped" after gen6, it would be great to see megas of more recent pokemon

However, one really cool but extremely unlikely thing for Game Freak to do:

EVERY pokemon can "mega evolve" (maybe just getting a large stat boost in their strongest stats), kinda like how every pokemon can terastallize, and certain pokemon get mega forms, where they can change types and abilities etc.

Disagree on Gen 1 megas because a lot of Gen 1 Pokemon that haven't gotten any updates over the years could actually use one. I wouldn't mind seeing a mega for something like, say, Dewgong or Parasect. The problem is that GameFreak keeps giving stuff to the same group of popular Gen 1 pokes instead of the ones who actually need something

Also, giving mega evolution as a non-form changing stat boost to all Pokemon wouldn't actually be surprising given GameFreak's track record. The biggest problem would be explaining why it doesn't change the form of 'mons that they might want to add megas to way down the road. Maybe all the non-form 'mons get a generic mega stone, so they could write it off as just that species stone not having been discovered yet or something?

Mr. Hua Cheng is a very distinguished personality in 3 realms. Mortal worship him, Gods fear him and Ghosts respect and adore him. He is the one and only 'Crimson Rain Shought Flower' the supreme Ghost King of land.

Recently, he published a book to enlighten the masses. A very important excerpt of the book is presented here

First is the only thing matters in the world. He should be revered, loved , worshipped by everyone(Kissed , hugged, and 'loved' by only me). He deserves the best (like me) in the world.

The second category divided into 2 subcategories.

1. Who are nice to Dianxia:-

They should be treated with bare minimum of kindness. Since they have a good head on their shoulders, they could keep it there without fear. By Dianxia's blessings, I'll make sure that happens.

2. Who are rude to Dianxia/ hurt Dianxia.

They deserve to be universally hated. They should be hanged on a spike. But ....they should not die. They should live a life worse than death.

Of course, like everything in the world, there are some exceptions to the rule.

2. The 2nd exception is The Black Water. That creature has been with me for hundreds of years. I've grown used to feeding him, and listening to his useless prattle {a.n- BW prattles?! Why don't you admit you like talking to him?!}. The fool owes me a lot of money, anyway. So, he should be kept around to run my errands.

3. The former Wind Master is the 3rd exception. He is Dianxia's friend. He was nice to Dianxia when others were busy mocking Dianxia. So he deserves a bit of extra kindness and respect. I don't need to protect his life, though. There is Black Water for that.

4. Another special case are Mu Qing and Feng Xin. These two baffons, surprisingly, belong to both subcategories. So, they should be despised and insulted but should not be harmed(too much)."

This excerpt sure is enlightening. I do not need explain in detail the purpose of the excerpt, do I? Please be cautious and start praying the Scraps....... I mean 'Flower Crown Martial God' or 'Crown Prince who Pleased the God.' May the lord bless us!

I've read many people's speculation that hawk will betray tim by outing him deliberately, but if he did, would tim bw able to join the military? bc there are photos of him in the uniform, and synopsis for ep 5 I think implies he makes a life changing decision. Hey Anon! (first one to this account since I rejoined tumblr back in 2021) - right this is where we need to consult the book (and spoilers for Ep1 and 2). SPOILER FOR THE SHOWTIME DESCRIPTIONS/TRAILER.

Sorry this is kinda long but its like the last half of the book. Its messy.

TLDR; According to Showtime we have to wait for it (if it happens) until the last episode.

In the book, a lot of the 1950s happen in a different order. Mary is Hawks Faux GF for longer and Tim running off to the army happens around the time Lucy comes into the picture (there four "sections" in the book, and we have the army life in section 3/4).

The show has already played around with the timeline a bit with a major event of the book that has not happened yet: The Lie Detector Test. This happens about 2-3 months into T&H's relationship. By the looks of it its in episode 4 (and now it could be the reason Tim enlists. If he is not around, he can't get them caught). Then the roadtrip; then Lucy comes along; then Tim enlists; the last few months of him and Hawk; Tim leaves.

right: this is a summary of the book events re: army and onwards to the end of the book.

The night Tim Enlists its after a fight with Hawk over some petty thing (his birthday). This is after someone (whose not present in the show but actions have been merged basically into Hawk and Marcus) phones Tim to snitch on McCarthy and winds Tim up to the point he basically is a mess. When he's in the army Hawk courts Lucy; marries her and gets her pregnant. So when he returns its near the end of Lucy's pregnancy (two years later). He goes to Paris in this time as well (Hawk messes with his enlistment to get him away from any fighting).

During the time he is still in the US he sees Mary a fair bit (and her dad) and she is the one who tells him about Hawk and the wedding, which upsets him so much it basically makes him start to starve himself ("fasting for 36 hours") and into full religious zealotry. Basically most of the time in the army he's kinda depressed imo. Its not a very nice part of the book and i hope the showrunners edited it to make him less.... idk unhappy?

When he returns in 1957 (he leaves in 1955) hawk has found them a secret house (owned by Mary's ex, a brewer called Paul but that isn't important) which is abandoned and falling apart. They move their meet ups to this house and Tim falls basically into worshipping Hawk. At the same time, a job helping the refugees fleeing the Hungarian Revolution comes up and Hawk gets him the job (its basically something he becomes fixated on in the army) and the eve of them about to give it to Tim (and his kid born) Hawk imagines Tim's life post this when Tim mentions he will finally have the money to own his own house (he is living in another character's loft and that character has basically become more fleshed out as Marcus in the show) so after Hawk leaves him for the night he goes to the M Unit and tells them Tim has "security considerations". Tim looses the job (but isnt investigated) and he flees DC; and never sees Hawk again (there's more to the ending told via Mary in the epilogue that is basically Tim has a breakdown and is sent to a place that is basically a mental hospital by his sister and just moves on with his life.

IN THE SHOW

So Showtime is hinting that Episode 5 ends on Tim being in the army but Episode 6 opens in 1968. So in the show its likely 4 Tim enlists; 5 is his time in the army (so not much of him maybe on screen, but the other 2 stories play out) , ending on him going back to DC OR 5 he enlists and it ends on that. We then have the 1960s and 1970s episodes, with Showtime telling us Episode 8 is 1957 and 1986 (like how the others have gone but a timeskip in the 1950s maybe)

Episode 8 (ignoring the 1986 stuff because rn I have no idea how we are doing that last episode stuff) is the messing with Hawk in the abandon house, but Hawk dibs him in over something (basically close to the book), he leaves and the 1950s end on that.

So yeah......... Hawk being a dick in the 1950s is likely saved until the last episode. Added with the "life changing" of the 1980s (which imo is Tim wanting him and Marcus/Frankie to not be present for those last days and tells Hawk to give him up because he isn't the best person). It would also make sense why every review seems to say ep6 feels weird - its been set up to mirror the 1980s: there is something we the audience don't know that is making everything awkward.

yes GOD this poor guy.

first off: nate is hilbert's little brother- 6 years his junior. he'd always looked up to hilbert as a role model, idolizing him especially after his ascension to hero of ideals. keep in mind that nate was only 10 when bw happened, so his understanding of the situation was surface-level and admittedly naïve. even when hilbert had been hospitalized for his injuries, he'd put on a brave face for nate, so the latter didn't grasp the severity of what happened/was happening.... it wouldn't be until later that the reality of how scary this was would sink in.

freshly 11 yrs old when hilbert left unova, nate was then sent off to aspertia to live with the other half of the family (hilda, rosa, and their mom) so he could enroll in cheren's trainer's school with rosa and earn his permit. the idea was also a way to provide him with a distraction from hilbert's absence since nate was a lonely kid... but anyway, this permit allowed them to participate in the junior division of the pokemon league challenge, meaning if either of them won, they'd be a champion in name only. that didnt happen but i'll get to why in a second.

when he was 12, despite setting out with the intention of collecting gym badges, hugh and nate quickly veered off course when team neo-plasma began showing its face around the region, urging the two of them to give chase in a bid to get some answers out of them. in the process, nate came across and befriended keldeo, and then, upon meeting colress, was dubbed something akin to his protégé.

this of course all came to a head in giant chasm. there... something happened that left nate almost a completely different person. not only had he been told, to his face, that his big brother was gone for good, but his right arm was caught in the line of kyurem's glaciate.

like his brother before him, nate was then hospitalized for a considerable amount of time, and like theyd done for his brother before him, interpol came swooping in make use of nate at his lowest. because, technically, hilbert had been working with them when he disappeared, so they had to take some accountability in his case... and what better way that to employ his little brother, i guess.

before his journey, nate was a sweet, excitable kid, although he struggled with tone. afterwards... it's like he struggles to recognize any emotion at all. he's blunt, does not have time for distractions, he gets unreal tunnel vision and dedicates years working on tying up loose ends regarding hilbert- such as the whereabouts of the dark stone and anything he might have left behind that nate can bring back home... rosa thinks its a pointless obsession and would rather forget about it all, and this resulted in a fight that drove a wedge between the two of them. :(

this was supposed to be a brief summary and its already gotten this long LOL... i had to skip over some details that i'll revisit in other posts later. like n's zorua. theres a lot going on with a lot of the hilbertverse cast and nate is no exception.

Your tags under the pokemon poll are SO TRUEE and it hurts how many people dont understand that

I grew up in the change from pixel art to 3D and have nostalgia for bw, xy AND sm. So i think because of that, I can see the good and bad in all the games but don't feel like any of them 'peaked''. They're all different games, so they are really hard to compare.

On a related note tho, its so sad to see so many fans praise one of my childhood games and not the others. And like, I get it because gen 5 is more similar to what they grew up with.....but every time I say I love xy, sm and even swsh i get told they are terrible and usually imply that I shouldnt like them :/

That only happens online, though......irl all the fans ive met, no matter their ages, just say something like 'i didnt like it, but i'm glad you did!'. Growing up in irl fan spaces and having to move online during corona was AN EXPERIENCE omg

Yeah! It's super interesting how much we are affected by nostaglia.

There's usually a pattern you can notice with this stuff too. There are two lines that go up as time goes on. The one everyone talks about as being great and the newer one people hate on, usually to do with nostalgia of the now older original audience of the game.

My first Pokemon game was Colosseum, so gen 2/3 pokemon and gen 3 sound effects are pretty nostalgic to me.

Then I grew up mostly playing Diamond/Platinum/PMD2/Ranger2. I LOVED Team Galactic. I restarted the games so many times just so I could play through the story again with Cyrus and the Galactic Grunt theme. (I have also played through pmd2 many many times). I remember in my early teens seeing people on the internet hating on DPPt a lot and it making me sad. I recall someone saying that the gen 4 Pokemon sucked and I remember thinking "aw I guess they're right, some of these pokemon are really boring or annoying" and then I learned later that the pokemon I was thinking of were all gen 1 pokemon sdfkjsh

Gen 5 was hated when it first came out because it wasn't very fun for new players. I bet it also didn't help that the advertising for B2W2 was pretty poor and also came out after the 3DS did. I didn't even know it was a sequel until years later. That's why they went in the complete opposite direction for gen 6, and added gimmicks!

I have heard multiple people call the designs from gen 5 horrible over the years (And they're all wrong). Those comments are nowhere NEAR as frequent now, but they almost always come from people with nostalgia for the ones they grew up with.

I was 13 when BW first came out. I think I've only beaten it once, MAYBE twice. I'm not entirely sure why, because I was still replaying DPPt a lot. I would guess it's because the game is super linear in terms of gameplay and every playthrough will start exactly the same. You don't really get to make decisions on your team and how you play until later. Kid me loved the beginning of the main pokemon games the most because they were the most fun bits to play usually. So I suppose when you've already played it once, the beginning becomes quite boring.

And to compare. I did not like XY when it first came out. I was 16 and very against change and also my fav types at the time were dark and dragon so fairy type was the worst thing ever. I said previously that I really liked Team Galactic, so Team Flare was just a bootleg version of them to me. BUT I did immediately replay the game when I finished it. The character customisation plus the huge dex gives the game a lot of replayability. Because while I didn't like a lot about the game it was still fun to play, and it was the first time online was really accessible to me. I went back to 2013/2014 on my blog and there's SO much positivity about the game it's amazing! Over time people only remembered the bad parts and started hating it. I bet there'll be an influx of nostalgia for it before long. We can even see it in the hope people have for SV having Kalos DLC.

I need to replay sun/moon or play USUM because in my brain currently it sucks. But I'm very aware that that's because I only played it once, it's been years, and I played it when I started to grow out of Pokemon. So I'm excited to play it again now that I can appreciate it better. (Also the Sun/Moon anime is my fav so I have a lot of love for the characters now)

And finally, I loved SWSH! I didn't finish it the first time I tried to play it. Mostly because I spent HOURS trying to get a shiny hatenna before doing the fire gym skdfjhs. But then I SPED through the game with a bug type only run before Legends came out and I really enjoyed the story! One of those things that's more enjoyable if you're only focused on enjoying the story (and playing the game through with a joltik as the lead and trying to make sure they stay strong enough to beat the game with pfft) Also Leon was the first ever Champion I actually thought was cool and enjoyed seeing while playing the game (as ridiculous as his outfit is)

If I were to logically plot out the best for me based on how nostalgia works and taking into consideration that public opinion ABSOLUTELY influences me. I would have said BW was the best and XY(or SM) was the downfall, even though I had way more fun playing XY than BW as a kid

Hey everyone! Happy 4/13!! I think I’ve been stuck working every 4/13 for about six years now XP

I wanted to take a moment to genuinely say hi to you (a fan or passerby of the blog). I usually try to stay in character but I wanted to be real for a bit.

Hi!!!! I’m June!!!! I’ve been legally June for a few months now. 5 years ago, I was a cishet guy who had his whole life figured out. Now I’m a 26 year old (bisexual?) transfem. 5 years from now? I have no idea, but I’m excited to find out.

I get sort of this, imposter syndrome when I talk about being trans. My story isn’t like a lot of other people’s: I didn’t know when I was younger. I didn’t even know when I graduated high school or flunked out of college. I didn’t know because I never hated myself, I never hated ‘being a guy’.

But I never loved it either. I never loved ‘me’. When people said ‘Mr. X’, that was never me. When people talked about ‘the guy over there’ or ‘this gentleman’, that was never me. When I looked in the mirror, the person looking back was never me. I never hated him, but I never loved him either.

Fast forward a couple years and (this is a true story that all my friends know) and my friends showed me… that’s right, the SnapCube fandub of Sonic 06. Anyway, one thing lead to another and Penny Parker was sort of my trans awakening.

After that, I waited about three months before transitioning both socially and medically. I told my family, friends, and coworkers, to which I’m extremely fortunate that it’s (mostly) positive.

It was roughly four/five months after I started transitioning that I was invited on as Broadway June. It was a time where I still looked masculine and I was scared to be out in public. Broadwaystuck was the first place I could be, well, me. ‘Hi! I’m a June, and I’m a girl!’

That was, hard for me to say back then. BWS gave me a place to be, and a place to express myself to you. It was never perfect, no, but it was a place where I didn’t have to do a song and dance to explain who I was to people.

This group is full of amazing and talented and funny people who care about each other, and it was exactly what I needed then.

And now, today! It’s been 15 months since I’ve transitioned. I’m almost exclusively called ma’am at work because of how awesome I look! And I love how I look! I’ll admit that there have been a few times I may have flirted with myself in the mirror. My name is legally changed, and I’ve still got a lot more progress to make!

These days, I’ve got all sorts of little projects and endeavors I want to focus on, that I can’t give BWS June as much attention as I could before. I wanted to leave earlier, but if I’m being honest, I didn’t want people to think it was attached to the stuff that happened earlier this year. Not talking about it of course, I just wanted everyone to know it was separate, so I waited a few months to make this.

As of today, I’m officially stepping away from the blog. A big part of me doesn’t want to, of course. Part of me wants to just, delete all this and put out another song. But… I’m, growing up. It’s hard… but I have to believe I’ll be ok, and I have to believe you’ll understand. Thank you to everyone who came here, even if it was just once or twice. It meant the world to me that I could sing to you, just for a while. And hey, who knows? Maybe one day we’ll bump into each other again!

The world is a big place after all. But with that said, that’s everything I wanted to tell you. Thank you to my listeners, thank you to BWS, and thank you to all the friends I made along the way.

You know, I feel like the reason Tom got stuck into that side of the actors that film critics don’t hype is because a lot of them are taking off their Marvel fatigue on him especially because now being associated with a super hero role (particularly from the MCU) isn’t taken seriously.

6 years ago, heck, even 4 years ago, being associated with Marvel was peak. Every actor was pursuing a role in the MCU - it was like winning the lottery because it massively launched your career. But now, I don’t know if it was the pandemic changing the structure of cinema or Martin Scorsese’s comment that opened the Pandora box mixed by how bad Marvel is being at giving quality content recently but is now synonymous for bad project and not prestigious cinema. I was surprised to see how many actors came out after Scorsese’s comments to say they either disagreed with him (Tom being in this category which I still think he shouldn’t have done) or to say that superhero movies have ruined cinema. About how being a MCU actor isn’t really about the acting because everything is CGI and not authentic, etc. TC coming out saying that a huge actor advised him that he should never take a superhero role if he wants his career to be taken seriously (and we know this was DiCaprio lol) And so on. So many actors have spoken about the MCU in a bad light. And I feel film critics have taken this as a fact and designated Tom as their idea of only makes blockbusters, never really good roles. Will forever rely on Spiderman, etc And this could be a valid critic if it actually came from a genuine place.

Scarlett Johansson only ever got to be Oscar nominated (twice in the same year/2019) during a time it was confirmed she was leaving the MCU and BW was her last movie. Only now she’s been taken seriously as an actress. RDJ basically making a joke about how Nolan told him he needed to take the role in Oppenheimer to be taken seriously during his Oscar campaign or something like that (and he won). Chris Hemsworth is getting praise for his acting on the Furiosa trailer from critics after years of being taken as the comedic relief actor of the MCU. Mark Ruffalo has always done well for himself being the most critically acclaimed one from the MCU isn’t surprising. I feel like only Florence Pugh hasn’t gotten this curse about not being taken seriously because despite being associated with the MCU - she’s still a critics darling, she has done some well received indie roles before and still given a lot of major opportunities despite a lot of her films not being that successful too. critics love her.

And I think the exception to the rule about superhero/comic book roles have been with Batman/Pattinson and Joker/Phoenix because despite those movies taking the name of very famous comic book characters - those movies were not promoted as part of a superhero universe and more like if it was a stand alone film, even the critics were like “this is cinema! - not like marvel and the saturated color palette and excessive cgi” and that’s a valid criticism - MCU movies shouldn’t be as expensive as they are considering there’s blockbusters that are done with less money and look better but that’s a whole other conversation but I feel Tom (and Brie Larson) receive the majority of the bad press for what the MCU has become.

Right now I feel like the only way to be taken seriously for film Twitter and film critics it’s if it you’re some actors that got a breakout role in an indie film and have managed to make your way to blockbusters while in the radar of popular indie filmmakers - aka Chalamet, Mescal, Anya, Florence, etc. Even Butler. And I do think a lot actors have been avoiding the super hero breakout role pipeline because of this reason as well because now not getting a MCU role is being seen as dodging a bullet.

Here's my controversial opinion: he made three successful movies with them. If I were him, I'd be like, "Hey, thanks for the huge opportunity and big fat checks, but I'm moving on to the next thing now. I don't want to be remembered for the rest of my life as the actor who can only play this one character." But the people around him are probably advising him to continue playing the character because it means more money in their pockets too. And before anyone says, "but he loves the character too," yeah, I know, but you're a fool if you think this man wants to be known as only Spider-Man for the rest of his career, which basically means he doesn't mind being put in a box (and we know this isn't true).

I'm sorry, but I don't want to see Tom end up like Ry4n Reyn0lds, Ch4rlie C0x or even Hugh Jackm4n. I want Tom to be like Christian Bale, Robert Downey Jr., or Joaquin Phoenix, iykwim.
