BATMAN BEYOND/TERRY McGINNIS; a reading list
Tumblr media
So, you're interested in the Batman of the future! A series which takes place in the far off year of... 2039? Listen, the original show came out in the nineties, you gotta give it some slack.
Hopefully here I've compiled a nice list of the comics, as well as any extra appearances of Terry, Batman of Neo-Gotham.
Who is Terry McGinnis?
Terry McGinnis is our seventeen year old protagonist. He meets Bruce Wayne after the old man helps him in beating back a gang who take after the late Joker, and in helping Bruce into his manor discovers that he was formerly Batman. After his father's murder, Terry steals the hi-tech batsuit in order to hunt down the people responsible for his death. In doing so he sees Gotham for how corrupt it really is, and becomes the Tomorrow Knight and Batman of the future.
Where to start?
The best place to start is with the 1999 animated series of the same name. It takes place firmly in the DCAU, alongside Batman: The Animated Series and The Adventure continues, Superman TAS, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.
The show goes over three seasons, with cameos in a spin off called The Zeta Files (which only ran for a season) Static Shock (ep, Future Shock) and Justice League Unlimited (The Once and Future Thing; part 2, Epilogue) and a movie, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.
While the cameos are more optional, you don't really need to watch them, though Epilogue is treated as the 'end' of both JLU and Batman Beyond. ROTJ also has two different versions, a censored and uncensored one.
You can watch it on WatchCartoonsOnline, though I'd be a little careful with using that site. If you also have MAX, it should be available for streaming on there.
Comics wise, I apologize for not putting individual issues. I've also included links to readcomicsonline for each comic.
DCAU Tie-In Comics
These tie in directly with the show, and as far as I know, were released at the same time.
Batman Beyond I
Batman Beyond II
Superman Adventures #64
Unlimited and 2.0
The unlimited and 2.0 comics take place post show, and are in the same universe as the DCAU so I personally consider it canon to the series.
Batman Beyond: Hush Beyond (2010)
Batman Beyond: Industrial Revolution (2011)
Batman Beyond: 10,000 Clowns (2012)
Batman Beyond Unlimited
Batman Beyond 2.0
Justice League Beyond
Justice League Beyond 2.0
(and optional, the Superman Beyond comics. I think Terry only has some cameos, but it's always fun to hang out in the world a little bit with different characters)
Superman Beyond 2011
Superman Beyond 2012
N52 Futures End and Rebirth
Futures end is... personally, I'm not a fan. While Terry isn't Batman for the entirety of 2015, 2015 takes place in the aftermath of futures end, while Rebirth is the aftermath of 2015, only a few months later.
N52 Futures End #1-17 #18-30 #31-48
Batman Beyond (2015)
Batman Beyond Rebirth
Neo-Year
A reboot of BB, Urban Legends #7 and Neo-Year set off as Terry's own personal sort of 'year one' as Batman, one without Bruce. I'm personally highly enjoying it so far, and I feel like it does treat his character very well. Neo-Gothic is currently on-going.
Urban Legends #7
Batman Beyond: Neo-Year
Batman Beyond: Neo Gothic
Optional Individuals and Cameos
Batman #700
Superman/Batman 2010 Annual #4
Milestones 30th Anniversary A story with Static and Terry
Batman 2016 #135
Countdown #21 (Just a brief cameo)
Justice League vs The Legion of Superheroes #3
Batman: Beyond the White Knight
This is as comprehensive of a list as I can get, including almost every appearance of Terry's that I can think of. I hope that this helps anyone who is interested about Terry, he's personally one of my favorite characters and I think he's really fun and compelling.

Note
wait hold on top 5 comics for the ask game instead. or do both hehe
ough i havent read comics in a while but. ill try
so for starters.
unbeatable squirrel girl. it woudlnt be any otehr way. its not th ebest by any means and post issue 31 its not even that good for the most part but. i cant give any other answer truthfully. she'll always be number one
immortal hulk. ive recommended to most anyone i know because both the writing for the system is one of the few instances ive seen it done even remotely right or respectfully (despite it being the classic evil scary monster with did thing) and the body horror is crazy good. the themes are also crazy good and overall its such a high quality one. also transgender
Watchmen. its a classic for a reason. alan moore is a cunt but like. his use of panels and detail to attention is great. tales of the black freighter is a small detail in the story but its that sort of thing that stuck to me from reading it long after i was done with it
this is probably not the answer you might have expected but https://www.tumblr.com/oliveroctavius/703625812137672704 this fancomic about plastic man is probably one of my favorite and think about it when i am reminded comics exist as a whole
hawkeye 2012 because i dont really remember any other good comic.
Honorable mention but remember when the Sunstone guy who was mainly known for making a bdsm webcomic and sometimes a couple illustrations for the big 2 was asked to make a harley queen origin story comic. that was funny

ABORTION: A matter of women’s right, health and justice.
The fight for the right to legal, safe abortion isn’t just about political ideologies. It’s all about life or death, health and safety, rights, and justice. Women’s bodies and their choices and future should never be up for debate. Although this topic quite controversial to even begin with but I want to use this opportunity to raise my voice about why should we legalize abortion. This issue makes a big slap in women’s world ever since The Government of United States banned women to get their fetus for abortion. Furthermore, there so many reasons why we strongly need to legalize abortion. So, let’s get into it.
In my opinion, women deserve full control over their bodies. For over a decade, long woman doesn’t have that many rights compare to man. We were told how to behave, how to wear or what to do to our body to be accept to the community and be treated fairly. Bodily autonomy isn’t up for negotiation. Every woman should have decision about her own body including whether to carry a life inside their womb. When abortion is criminalized, it strips women of this basic human right. The United Nations itself recognizes access to safe abortion as essential for women’s health and equality. Yet, in many countries the right is denied, forcing women to into unsafe, life-threatening situation. Legalizing abortion puts the power back where it belongs which is in the hands of women.
Don’t you think criminalizing abortion kills women? Let’s be clear, making abortion illegal doesn’t stop it from happening. It just makes it dangerous. Every year, according to the World Health Organization, 25million unsafe abortion take place. This result in about 47,000 preventable deaths of millions of women suffering from severe complications. How sad to hear this. Countries like south Africa saw maternal deaths plummet after they legalized abortion, proving that when women have access to safe procedures, lives are saved. To me banning abortion isn’t “pro-life” but it is a dangerous, sickening, irresponsible and lethal act.
Legalization abortion empowers women economically. From my standpoint, denying women access to abortion forces them into a cycle of poverty and limits their future opportunities. Guttmacher institute show research that women who can make choices about their pregnancies are more likely to complete their education, secure better jobs, and achieve financial independence. Based from The Turnaway study, women denied abortions are more likely to fall into poverty. Legal abortion gives women the chance to build a life on their own terms, which benefits everyone including, families, communities, and society.
Legalization doesn’t increase abortion rates. As for me, I believe that legalizing abortion doesn’t make abortion more common but it makes it much more safer. Countries with comprehensive reproductive healthcare, like the Netherlands, have some of the lowest abortion rates in the world because they prioritize education and access to contraception. The argument that legalizing abortion leads to more abortion is a myth only. So…..what actually leads to fewer abortion? The answer is legal access, sex education, and affordable healthcare.
As far as I’m aware no women should be forced to carry a pregnancy from rape or incest, or one that could possibly endanger her life. Forcing women to endure is a cruel act, inhumane, and a violation of their rights. Take the tragic case that took place in 2012, her name is Dr, Savita Halappanavar a 31-years-old Indian born dentist died in Galway, on Ireland’s west coast, after she was denied an abortion by doctors who citied the country’s strict laws, even though there was no chance her baby would survive, according to Ireland’s official report on the case. After this tragedy, Ireland repealed its Amendment.
Lastly folks before I close all of this, legalizing abortion is about more than reproductive rights and it’s about women’s fundamental freedom, health, and dignity. It’s about creating a world where women aren’t forced into dangerous, back-alley procedures because they don’t have access to safe, regulated care. It’s about giving women the power to decide their futures. It also about human rights.
XOXO, TASHAJAN

31 and 35?
31. What is one piece of TMNT canon that you dislike/ignore?
The entirety of 2012? /hj.... I grew up on 2012 if I'm honest and I hate it. There's just so many issues with it, but I do like Raph in that version.
But something more specific...? Not that I can think of.
35. Which character relationships are your favorite to write/draw?
I love Disaster Twins. I love them so much... And this is not a bias because I am a twin. I just love them. Next would probably be PB&J or Raph & Leo.

Books I Read in 2023
* = Re-read
Check out past years: 2012, 2013 (skipped), 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018,  2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Follow me on Goodreads to get these reviews as they happen. 1) A Book of Blades: Rogues in the House Presents edited by L.D. Whitney This book, assembled by the great guys behind the premier podcast in the genre, is an excellent way to sample a breadth of contemporary Sword & Sorcery fiction! My favorite story was "The Blood of Old Shard" by John R. Fultz, with Scott Oden and Howard Andrew Jones' tales close behind, and there were no duds in the mix. "The Blood..." really surprised me with a heart and inventiveness which the opening doesn't give away yet, you realize upon finishing, deftly sets up. 2) Fires of Azeroth by C.J. Cherryh Left my big ol’ spoiler-laden review on Goodreads for ya. 3) Black Paper: Writing in a Dark Time by Teju Cole 4) The Citadel of Forgotten Myths by Michael Moorcock *5) Neuromancer by William Gibson 6) The Expert System's Brother by Adrian Tchaikovsky 7) The Expert System’s Champion by Adrian Tchaikovsky I confess I finished the first book in this series having enjoyed myself, but wondering if I'd remember what I'd read a year from now. I don't have that concern with its follow-up. Tchaikovsky has enriched the world he set up in the first installment quite nicely, and I hope I get to explore it further in a third. 8) Old Moon Quarterly: Issue 3 9) Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner 10) The Gurkha and the Lord of Tuesday by Saad Z. Hossain 11) The Dreamthief's Daughter: A Tale of the Albino by Michael Moorcock 12) Cinema Speculation by Quentin Tarantino Do you think you’d enjoy hearing Tarantino discuss mainly his childhood and adolescence re: movies that meant a lot to him during that period? Congrats, this is extremely that. It could not be more that. 13) The Shadow of the Torturer by Gene Wolfe 14) Consider This: Moments in My Writing Life After Which Everything Was Different by Chuck Palahniuk Roughly 70/30 instructional / biographical. Has a lot of good advice, focusing on a more literary mode than classic genre stylings, all in a voice and coming from a place any Palahniuk fan will be familiar with (I would have been stunned NOT to find something like the "Voice of Authority" snippet in a writing book by Palahniuk). Entertaining and providing what mostly felt like useful, actionable advice, I'd say it can be handy for writers who aren't knowledgeable of the author's works, but knowing at least a couple of his books can help contextualize his advice so you can determine which parts are right for you or not. 15) Death Angel's Shadow by Karl Edward Wagner 16) Night Winds by Karl Edward Wagner 17) Wyngraf Issue #1 Edited by Nathaniel Webb 18) Rakefire and Other Stories by Jason Ray Carney 19) The White Lion by Scott Oden 20) Werner's Nomenclature of Colours: Adapted to Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Mineralogy, Anatomy, and the Arts by Patrick Syme, Abraham Gottlob Werner (Illustrator) 21) Tehanu by Ursula K. Le Guin 22) Lord of a Shattered Land by Howard Andrew Jones *23) Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer 24) Authority by Jeff VanderMeer 25) Acceptance by Jeff VanderMeer *26) The Sailor on the Seas of Fate by Michael Moorcock 27) Kundo Wakes Up by Saad Z. Hossain 28) Swords in the Shadows, Edited by Cullen Bunn 29) The Lies of the Ajungo by Moses Ose Utomi 30) Doppelganger: A Trip into the Mirror World by Naomi Klein 31) The Encyclopedia of Amazons: Women Warriors from Antiquity to the Modern Era by Jessica Amanda Salmonson 32) New Edge Sword & Sorcery #1, Edited by Oliver Brackenbury 33) New Edge Sword & Sorcery #2, Edited by Oliver Brackenbury 34) A Book of Blades: Volume II: Rogues in the House Podcast Presents, Edited by L.D. Also this is me asking about the Lando, Mclaren, Max, Red Bull thing
(I enjoy seeing other people’s perspectives and what they think)
@ireadthensuetheauthors
Oof, okay @ireadthensuetheauthors. Buckle up because I have thoughts. Also for anyone wondering this is being asked because of my Oscar fic, lover.
Thoughts under the cut
So, in said fic, I kind of brought up the perception of Max being called a teammate killer, despite Red Bull being the obvious issue, and in that fic parallels were drawn between Max/Red Bull and Lando/McLaren.
Now, let me preface by saying that I love Max and Lando. I love pretty much all the drivers on the grid:
I'm genuinely shocked however that Lando has not been labeled as a teammate killer or in the beginning of coming one. I don't know if it's because he's still somewhat new to f1 or it's just that while talented, he's not Max levels of talented.
But lets face it, Carlos left for Ferrari (on good terms which also is a difference between say Pierre and Alex leaving*cough* redbull),after two seasons. Daniel was forced out of McLaren after two seasons, despite being a more experienced and an arguably better driver despite the 2021/22 season being what they were.
Also, Carlos since leaving McLaren and joining Ferrari has been interesting at Ferrari. It's clear that he wants to be first driver (and lets face it as long as Charles is there, no one else will be first driver), but is also unable (unwilling?) to push the car for everything that it can give. Which while it does give him good results, makes him a bit disappointing compared to Charles who drivers the car to it's rails. He is able to get in the points and even on the podium sometimes, but it also took him a long time to ever get on the podium (4/5 seasons) and took him a bit longer to get a win (7/8 seasons).
Daniel joining McLaren was very good for the team. A proven good experienced driver who had 31 podiums under his belt and 7 wins. And in his first season with McLaren he proved that Mclaren could be a race winning car, by giving them their first win since 2012 (8/9 seasons!). And yes Lando was doing very well, in the points more often than Daniel and placing higher than him in the standings for both seasons, but Daniel was still performing well, even after admitting that he was having issues with the car.
The decision McLaren made to break contract with Daniel to sign a rookie, is something, it's a very interesting decision. And Oscar is showing a lot of promise and is doing well for his rookie season. But that's not the point.
The point is, McLaren is showing like Ferrari and Redbull they heavily favor a driver, and will as long as he's there. Lando, Max, and Charles, are always going to be the priority at McLaren, Redbull, and Ferrari respectively. And like I kind of stated in my fic, I do think that if somehow Oscar gets a win before Lando at McLaren, even earns more points than him or is just about equal to him, they still will favor Lando.
This is just my thoughts (some of them at least) on the whole thing. I don't mind some healthy discussion about this in the replies/reblogs of this post, but please be kind. On my other blog I already had to delete an f1 post due to some anon hate messages and I'm honestly just here to have fun and occasional real deep thoughts.
Also, Max is not a teammate killer neither is Lando. The teams themselves are the problems. And this post was more about the perception and potential parallels of them.

Isabelle Wenzel
Isabelle Wenzel (b. 1982, Germany) studied to be a photographer/artist, but is also a trained acrobat. Usually, she sets her own body before the camera. Within the seconds that the self-timer allows her, she assumes an impossible position and continues to hold it until the camera has clicked.
The central focus of the photographs of Isabelle Wenzel is the body as a physical form, rather than people themselves. By making a photograph, she freezes a pose in time as it were, and in doing so draws attention to the sculptural qualities of the body. In order to achieve a certain image, the manoeuvres need to be carried out repeatedly. In this way, Wenzel does her own little experimental performance in front of the camera, which captures it for us in ‘frozen’ form as a photograph.
Artist statement:
I stretched forward. Felt sensations of heaviness. Was overwhelmed by choice. Got lost. Stumbled. Failed. Started again. I’m a space in the landscape. A geological formation. A botanical shape. An island of isolation.  A thinking body. Look at me in slow motion. Look at me frozen in time.
Isabelle Wenzel

Somebody needs to make a comic or animation where Marie insults octavio or sum in the splatoon 2 boss fight and he just says "nice opinion. One small issue. I fucked ur grandpa." Or sum like that and Marie just stares at him and he says " whyd ya think u had those eyelashes" [Or whatever they're called idk the thing that octolings have around their eyes]
"IM RELATED TO UR ASS????"

I've a busy few days ahead but can't start anything for another 3 so I'm wasting time by doing this for my own curiosity cause why not
so my abridged run-through with my niece continues, and I have a few opinions on the abridged series this time around
but before the opinions, I wanna figure out the timeline (not highly in depth, but partially, bc it'll still be a long post even without me going into depth).
2007-2008 - is when I believe the show started.
the channel itself was made in 2007, but ep 1 doesn't have its original date under it as it is a reupload. the reason I know is bc ep 31 says 2008, but eps 1-30 say 2009 which is obviously wrong. I do remember Konami or something kept getting LK's videos flagged.
oh and these eps during this time were uploaded weekly.
I think, and its not definite, that I may have started watching the show around the time when these eps came out:
Tumblr media
2010 - is when I personally got into the show. there's a CHANCE it was 2009, but I'm going with 2010 for simplicity's sake.
my life during 2010. I was just finishing up school and was about to move to our 6th house. I'd just turned 18 as well. I remember joking about the abridged in school with some friends. in fact, I skipped school a lot and chilled in a friend or two's house while we watched it, and then referenced it a lot. when I turned 18, I went to my first nightclub that night and on the dance floor, Bad Romance by Gaga came on and instead of singing "love love love I want your love" I sang "tush tush tush right on my tush" bc I'd honestly forgotten what the real lyrics were. I was even poking my friends ass. she liked my lyrics better (she had no idea what it was from tho lol). but yes 2 days later I moved away and began my first of my four years of isolation. the abridged itself, anime in general, online friends and tumblr became the winning combo for the following 3-4 years of my life, from 2010 (when I moved away) to 2014.
so I was online a lot for those years. I lived in nowhere land. imagine your house smack dab in this with one neighbour, as an 18 year old
Tumblr media
so yes, I was online a lot. I had time to be. I had time for anime.
still 2010 - the first time I can see a big gap are these eps from 2010 during the Noah arc (aka season 3 of both ygo and ygo abridged). 48 being ep 1 of the Noah arc
Tumblr media
48 - Aug 2010
49 - Sep 2010
50 - Nov 2010
51 - Apr 2011
so the first couple of Noah's arc eps were monthly, like usual. like how I always knew then. and then there was a bit of a jump 4 eps into Noah's arc at ep 51. but here's the thing... LK filled up a lot of space around this time with side videos. from song parodies, to the evil council of doom, to con promo vids, to just fun extras. majority of which I forgot about until right now
Tumblr media
I esp forgot about these, they defo need a rewatch
Tumblr media
but I'll wait till my niece is back over cause she'll definitely love that first one.
2011 - I met LK twice at two different cons during when those above Noah arc eps would've been coming out at that new slower pace, so I know he was at peak busy that specific year and the episodes were hotly anticipated at the time. so he really was doing his best. uploading not monthly anymore but still releasing fun vids in between, AND going to cons. plus like, his own personal life and issues to deal with. so it was all still steady going.
online wise for me after I'd moved, I was frequenting youtube the most to talk to people (and fanfiction for alone time lol). but mid or late 2011, I joined tumblr the same time as those youtube friends, so we chatted on here the most and youtube got lost in the abyss. and so during 2011, during my new tumblr time, ep 52 and 53 came out. and yeah, ygo was what my online friends and I found the most common ground in and that included the abridged series. the ygo fandom was growing on tumblr because of the abridged.
so ep 53 was in July 2011 but then a big gap happened and episode 54 was FEB 2012
Tumblr media
2012 - I met rp!Florence the exact next day, Feb 8th, so I'm thinking the release of this ep (LK's first ep in after a 7 month gap) inspired the decision behind making Flo? idk.
(so I now know, thanks to making this post, that when I was online in 2012 rping and shit, the Noah's arc was near ending. but also, it had completely stopped its monthly drop at this point, which I remember was annoying, y'know, rping with an abridged character who had to take more from canon!ygo than abridged!ygo bc there was so little to go on. the pro side of that tho, is that you'd get really excited when an ep did appear. more so than before. tumblr pm went like this
Tumblr media
so that above ep (54, Feb 7th) up to episode 58 were all done in 2012. almost like an ep was dropped per weather season. and I remember this one so well because
Tumblr media
I got a tonne of anon messages calling my Joey 'Susan' :')
so it went from weekly, to monthly, and then as of 2012, once every 4 months.
2013 comes along - and... the first episode of that year is in JULY, and the second and only other one in 2013 was September. again, this was during my constantly online rp time. so when they did drop, it really was like
Tumblr media
2013 had just two eps. that's it.
aaaaand... it's kind of been that way ever since. so I was right in thinking it was 2013 when the eps slowed down and became the official beginning of the rarely out eps. the past 10 years now LK will release just one or two eps a year. no side videos either, no con promos (idk if he goes to cons but he defo doesn't promo them), he did a bunch of Marik Plays Bloodlines but then stopped that and it hasn't been updated in 7 years. and he officially moved onto talking about wrestling and reviewing YGO GX.
and so here's how I feel.
first of all, the Noah's arc was out way earlier than I thought it was. I know it was still going in 2012, but I thought it started in 2012, when in actuality, it was going for 2 years, since 2010. during the time I was in school! I was shocked learning that. I also consider Noah's arc to be the worst arc, but I didn't think that while watching it back in the day, just upon rewatch
watching the show now in my 30's and passing it onto my niece (she's prob too young for it but she does love the kid friendly jokes, also she thinks I'm like Kaiba and she's Mokuba) it has a heavy nostalgic feel to it ofc. like I said, it was around during very specific times in my life, when it needed to be basically, and during the past 10 years, it became the "oh hey, a new ep just dropped on youtube" show that you don't think about UNTIL an ep drops. you're not waiting for it. it just appears. and when it does you're like :))) and you pick up from where you left off bc its easy enough to do without looking back on past eps bc its... well its a parody. there's no solid "plot"
to "review" it in a sense.... ok. in 2012... I was just happy to have an episode bc like I said, they weren't monthly anymore. and there was always something funny about them. whether it was one joke or four jokes. however, I didn't notice it then, but the quality dropped significantly (but luckily picked up by the end of 2012 and did eventually get better)
so where the bad starts imo... if you watch this episode (the last episode RIGHT before the Noah's arc, an early 2010 ep), its full of classic moments
Tumblr media
its highly quotable and its memorable. this could be due to LK's favouritism towards Marik so he puts his best jokes onto Marik like "use the celtic guardian aibouuu" to "a rhetorical WANKER" to "you tell 'em, honey!" and then the Stand By Me singing. its a v good, memorable ep.
ep 47, the first ep of Noah arc, follows it and it... just goes downhill. all of Noah's arc is quite bad, and the main problem I found while rewatching, was that the jokes were draaaaagged out. the penguin thing, the stairs thing, Tristan being a "funny guy", and lots more. it was annoying. and the additional voice actors weren't good either, with the exception of two of them sounding almost exactly like the dub voices, so I'll give them credit for that
now like I said, LK was at his busiest in 2011 (which would have been exclusively Noah's arc eps which are the worst eps), and it was straight after Noah's arc that he uploaded less frequently. and he was diagnosed with depression which probably affected him during this whole arc and so he basically knew, to give out the quality people wanted, he had to resort to taking more time for himself and uploading less. and for his health it was obviously the best decision, but even for his channel it was too.
so to repeat - end of 2012 saw the end of Noah's arc and I remember this ep dropping and everyone quoting it
Tumblr media
and also this one like I already said
Tumblr media
they still weren't LK's best but they were better. and the abridged was important to me in 2012 eps considering I had an abridged partner, so we were always happy to get new content.
this 2013 ep to me was the return of classic abridged
Tumblr media
it was so good that my friend at the time changed her username to one of the quotes from the ep. and why was it so good? bc there was a 7 month gap between this ep and the last, and like I said, uploading less frequently ended up working wonders for LK. he had time to plan it well.
2014 - end of season 3 (noahs arc and battle city combine. just 3 eps that year
2015-2018 - season 4
2019&2020 - nothing
2021-2025 - season 5, ongoing.
so anyone that has seen the original YGO knows season 5 has two parts. the grand champion ship part that nobody likes (14 eps), and the Egyptian arc which finally gives Bakura the spotlight (26 eps).
he is currently still in that first part, and has prob 3 more eps left of it.
so yes, he uploaded nothing in all of 2019 and 2020, which I honestly would've thought during the pandemic it would be the change he'd needed to be able to upload more frequently. but nope, it was all this instead
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he only returned then in 2021 and so far has released just 4 eps from 2021 to 2024.
Tumblr media
that Joey one being only a couple of months ago.
so its for sure at a super slow once a year pace.
ngl, I am curious about his mindset, but this stems from my own ignorance, and I'm sure with a bit of research (and profile stalking) I could probably figure out why its so rare. but I don't care that much despite this post. like I can say - why doesn't he upload a slight bit faster (nobody is out here waiting for an ep a month, but at least 3 eps a year?). or I can think - does he still think fans from 15 years ago are gonna stick with him to the end? does he think his fans are that die hard?
but again, being ignorant - idk how youtube works. idk how creators get paid. idk if he gets paid for the eps. idk if he gets paid more (or only) for non eps (and so therefore abd eps are the last things he wants to do bc no pay). idk if this is his job or he has a day job. idk what his current health status is. idk if he's still doing the eps just to finish the show or bc he actually likes doing it. idk how he views the fact that majority of old fans are prob not around anymore. idk if he's actually online all the time, just not on youtube.
I don't know.
I quickly checked just there and he's still frequenting twitter
Tumblr media
but also
Tumblr media
what
Tumblr media
there's drama in the abridged world????
I'm.................. so out of touch.
how active is the abridged fandom even. are they all gen z. are they all offended by the old jokes, I assume so tbh
I'm bewildered, don't care enough, but still curious
for another day I think........
BUT ANYWAYS. yeah, I just needed to waste time. this show was special to me at one point. never thought I'd be watching it with my 7 year old niece. she's addicted. she can't wait till bed time. this is her bed time story. Joey is her fave, so she was raised right. ...even if that's a different type of Joey it still applies.
I... think I'll be watching this show up until it ends. I'm not really a social media person. Im not subbed to many on youtube. but I never unsubbed LK so I see the eps drop randomly sometimes a year. and in another 10 years (I mean at this pace, probably) I'll most likely still be watching it. I'm generally smiling the whole time anyways

Entry 4 Assignment 2 Peer Review Feedback
The second assignment for transition to professional practice gives us the opportunity to type up internship applications. There are three main components that need to be assessed in each internship application, which are cover letter, resume, and a key selection criterion. In the years 2021-2023 we have the opportunity to choose three different organisation and three different professional description. I choose all 2023 professional descriptions, however with three distinct roles. My selections were AusCycling as a communications and operations role, Ballpark as an administrator role, and Melbourne Aces in a media role.
Resumes are a key in order to allow the internship process to continue and allow us to have an opportunity to get an internship. Resumes are key through any application because you are discussing all the great qualities and skills you have gained overtime in order to allow yourself this opportunity and resumes also allows organisations to see pervious experiences in workplace, education, and/or volunteering.
Elmore, B. (2012), stated “subject your resume to the current role and/or role you are currently seeking. With a resume put in information that would fit the position description of the current job or internship you are seeking, because if your resume does not fir the description their just not going to glance over your resume and will not contact you.
Cover letters are plainly important applying for a job or internship because it gives the organisation a deep dive in to about yourself. The difference between a cover letter and a resume is with a resume your have a little detail about yourself but is more based on previous experience and skills. (Moustafa, 2014), stated “The implications of roles and discussing them come from cover letters.” While with a cover letter you’ are selling yourself towards the organisation, by talking about yourself and why do you think you would be best for the role.
Part of the second assignment we needed to get feedback from another student to give us insight of elements we did right and things that we could improve on before the submission date. Feedback is super important especially peer review because it allows you to get another person’s opinion and it benefits. Someone would say something you would not have thought of, and it benefits your work by getting a better grade and allows your brain to expand and think more outside the box. Moore, C., & Teather, S. (2013). Stated “Peer review feedback is not just an evaluation it allows the person that is getting the feedback to improve their performance.”
Tumblr media
Throughout the second assignment I got mostly positive feedback which is good, however there was some points that I read and looked back on my work and changed in order to gain better marks. The Cover letter feedback was just how I need to shorten my sentences. The resume was incomplete at the time so they reviewer wanted dot points for tasks did throughout each job and volunteer experience. The third criteria that needed reviewed was my LinkedIn account and I just need to make more of a professional photo because of it being a professional account.

RSA (Typeface Psychology)
I knew I couldn’t get designing because my theoretical knowledge of design is lacking. Thus, I needed a refresher but reading is daunting, this is why I’ve been listening to Tedtalks (the language used in academic books even though English is basically my first language, is very dull. I have no issues adding to new words to my vocabulary but the way the books are written are emotionless, thus, making me loose interest in the subject matter every time).
youtube
I’m tired so enjoy the transcript of the Ted talk. (This is also UX practice for my idea)

We encounter messaging constantly:
0:20
on billboards,
0:22
our phones,
0:24
the labels of products we use every day.
0:27
J. Walker Smith,
0:29
president of marketing firm Yankelovich,
0:32
stated that we are exposed to as many as 5,000 advertisements a day.
0:39
Our minds are constantly being saturated by messaging.
0:43
But to what level is our perception of these brands
0:47
being dictated by the advertising industry?
0:51
Is our preference for one brand over another
0:55
based on its quality,
0:57
our awareness of the brand,
1:00
the way it's presented at the point of purchase?
1:03
When a product's catchy jingle gets stuck in our head,
1:06
we might be more inclined to choose that product over another.
1:10
That's a more obvious advertising tactic.
1:14
But is there a subtler persuasion at play?
1:18
Can designers use typography to manipulate us on a subconscious level?
1:24
Think back.
1:25
How many times have you bought a bottle of wine
1:28
based on its fancy-looking label,
1:31
later to only be basically pouring purple vinegar?
1:35
Me too.
1:38
So first, let's do a quick crash course on typography,
1:40
so we can all become experts.
1:44
Typography is the general term for the style and appearance of text.
1:50
A typeface is a stylized collection of letters and numbers.
1:57
The whole collection is called a family.
2:00
Much like your own family,
2:01
they're similar, but they have their own style.
2:05
See, you have the fun uncle,
2:08
you have the cousin going through his heavy-metal phase,
2:11
you have the aunt that insists you have a second plate.
2:16
Typeface and font are often used interchangeably.
2:20
However, nowadays, a font only refers to the digital file.
2:27
The two most common ways to group typefaces
2:30
are serif and sans serif.
2:33
Serif means the typeface has little feet at the bottom
2:37
whereas sans serif does not.
2:40
But, of course, there are many other subcategories.
2:44
Different type designs convey different emotions.
2:48
For instance,
2:50
something in bold might feel heavy and impactful,
2:56
something in script might feel elegant,
3:02
and something in a geometric sans serif might feel more modern.
3:07
The emotion a typeface evokes
3:11
can be considered a subjective gray area.
3:14
However, I can assure you
3:16
the majority of people would not say Comic Sans gives off a "scholarly" vibe.
3:23
About seven years ago,
3:25
scientists at the European Organization for Nuclear Research
3:29
announced they'd discovered something called the "God Particle."
3:33
Some refer to this
3:35
as one of the most important scientific breakthroughs in decades.
3:40
But they presented their information
3:42
in arguably the most hated typeface on earth.
3:47
That week, trending on Twitter higher than the God Particle
3:51
was Comic Sans.
3:54
One simple design choice
3:56
completely shifted the conversation
3:58
from this incredible scientific breakthrough
4:02
to how ridiculous a typeface designed for Windows 95 children's software is.
4:10
So we've seen that typefaces can distract us from the message.
4:15
But can simply the style of letters sway us to believe what we're reading?
4:22
Errol Morris, who's known for his investigative documentaries,
4:27
was inspired by this
4:28
and conducted an experiment in 2012 just to test this.
4:35
He found inspiration from reading designer Phil Renaud's blog.
4:39
Renaud wrote about how in university
4:41
his grades had drastically improved
4:45
despite not adding any additional effort.
4:48
After a bit of detective work,
4:50
he had realized only one thing had changed:
4:53
his choice of typeface.
4:56
After reviewing 52 essays,
4:58
he realized that essays written in sans serif Trebuchet MS
5:04
had averaged a B-minus,
5:07
whereas those written in serif fonts Georgia and Times New Roman
5:12
averaged A and A-minus.
5:17
Now, Morris was definitely inspired by this,
5:21
but he wanted a more empirical test.
5:26
He wrote a New York Times article featuring excerpts.
5:31
At the end of the article,
5:32
readers were asked two questions:
5:35
"Is the information in the excerpt true?"
5:38
and "How confident are you in your conclusion?"
5:42
The twist was readers were being presented the information
5:46
in a different typeface each time.
5:50
Not surprisingly,
5:52
the excerpts written in Comic Sans were not very well received.
5:57
However,
5:59
two seemingly similar serif typefaces
6:03
had drastically different results.
6:08
Baskerville had the lowest rate of disagreement,
6:12
whereas Georgia had the highest.
6:17
IBM designers Alessio Laiso and Rick Sobiesiak
6:22
wanted to see
6:23
if the superiority of Baskerville held true outside of news articles.
6:29
Participants in their test were given four sites -
6:33
a banking,
6:35
fitness,
6:36
shopping,
6:38
a news site -
6:39
all in four different typefaces.
6:42
They were then asked to rate them
6:45
on a scale of trustworthiness,
6:48
how appealing they were,
6:50
and how easy they were to use.
6:52
Overall, Baskerville held its title as the most trustworthy.
6:58
But if we look closer,
7:00
we see that the fitness site opposed the news site,
7:05
naming Baskerville as the least trustworthy
7:08
and Fira as the most.
7:12
So perhaps typefaces can influence our sense of credibility.
7:17
But can they go further and affect our senses?
7:22
Researchers Vincent P. Magnini and Seontaik Kim
7:27
published research in the International Journal of Hospitality Management
7:33
indicating that italicized menus
7:37
caused potential diners to see a restaurant as more upscale,
7:41
with the capability of delivering top-rate service.
7:45
Is it possible that this design choice
7:49
sets up customers to enjoy this meal
7:53
more than one ordered off of another menu?
7:58
That this design choice will set up a preconceived notion of quality
8:03
before they even taste the food?
8:08
So before I began my talk,
8:10
I gave you a slip of paper.
8:13
This slip of paper had a spray of perfume
8:16
as well as the logo of that perfume printed on it.
8:19
I then asked you to estimate
8:21
what a 50-milliliter bottle of this perfume might cost
8:26
and rate its quality on a scale of 1 to 100
8:29
via a live online poll.
8:32
So these are the results.
8:35
The more cheesy-looking sans serif logo
8:39
had an even spread of votes among the lower brackets of price scales,
8:46
whereas if we look over here,
8:48
the large majority for the script logo
8:53
rested in the 150 to 300 RMB, or 22 dollar to 45 dollar, price points.
9:01
Additionally, we can see a difference in the rate of quality.
9:04
Those that were given the cheesy-looking logo
9:07
had a quality estimate median of 48.9%,
9:14
but those that were given the script
9:16
sat at 57.1% -
9:19
nearly a 10% difference in quality estimation.
9:24
These two fictitious brands have the same name.
9:29
In fact, all strips of paper
9:32
were sprayed with the same 2 dollar, 15 RMB, bottle of perfume.
9:39
The only difference is the typeface of the logo.
9:46
How can we be more cognizant of this persuasive messaging?
9:50
Is there a way that we can see past the implications these typefaces give us
9:56
to judge in a more objective way?
10:01
Before you make your next purchase,
10:03
ask yourself:
10:05
are you buying the product or the packaging?
10:08
Thank you

4. Dream job 👜

31. What really makes you angry? 🏉
(referencing this post)
Dream job: Answered it in this post, but in short, comic book artist. Not nearly talented or motivated enough to pursue that these days.
Best Vacation: This is gonna be so basic, but my very first trip to Walt Disney World, in... 2012 I think it was. I went with my best friends, we went for the Halloween Party as Sora, Donald and Goofy, the weather was BEAUTIFUL all week, and we paid to pretty much have a stress free vacation. My friend Peter planned the WHOLE trip down to scheduling, so all I had to do was show up, and it was SO fun. I treasure that holiday so much, and want to do it again with anyone someday. I wanted to go for my 40th birthday, probably by myself, but then Covid happened, and I guess I'll try on my 50th, because it will take that long to save up again for Disney since it's gotten SO expensive since we went (I paid 1200$ Canadian to go, that was with a FREE dining plan and flight included, so like, we got a great deal).
What really makes me angry?: Weaponized incompetence in my day-to-day work-life. It frustrates me to NO END when something I've showed someone how to do NUMEROUS TIMES who SHOULD ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO IT just doesn't clue in. And when people are "know it alls" when they've been at a place of work significantly less time than I have and they try to tell me how to do my job when they are BELOW me in the chain. Like. Ugh. Anyway.
Also, when people leave dishes in the sink, holy shit that drives me batty. This is ALSO at my work, LOL.
Otherwise, I just... don't suffer fools in my day to day. I'm getting too old to get REALLY angry about things. Especially since I know a lot of my frustrations are related to my own control issues.
