listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded mfer happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.

#seeing some discourse and im not saying lucy grey didnt know #im saying she never dropped the kind of hints that she knew like she did in the movie #or if she did snow isnt worried about them until he very suddenly is consumed by them #snow is not concerned about whether or not she believed him. of course she did! hes snow!#but then shes gone…. for a while……#and its the sudden immediate drastic unravelling that comes across so clearly in the book #that i knew wouldn’t translate to screen yet still cant help but miss #the hunger games #coriolanus snow #tbosas #lucy gray baird #not a crime or anything just a note that i cannot stop thinking about #the ballad of songbirds and snakes #this is all from memory of reading it quite a while ago. so maybe 3 pages is an exaggeration #but i remember it happening VERY quickly and without much external cause #like we as the reader have no indication as to whether shes nearby or not.#snow has no idea either. he just SUSPECTS. and his suspicion breeds the hatred that has been bubbling inside him all this time #he hates how she undoes him. he hates that he WOULD run away with her if shed let him keep his secrets #and he HATES more than anything that she makes him WANT to tell his secrets #he wants to be vulnerable and reveal the ugly nasty parts about himself and still be loved #but he does not let himself and it is everyone’s downfall #he chooses cruelty bc it is easy and familiar and makes him feel more powerful than the vulnerable give and take that real love requires

Like a video that highlighted specific scenes #No it's just the whole game again but with trivia pop-ups! I love that!!#It reminded me so much of like trivia track or the pop up fun facts from special editions of movies I would watch as a kid #But you can play through them!! You have to click on them and they spin! unclear. last night i stayed up and finished a report worth 25% of my grade at about 5am, arrived on time for my 9am lecture, and spent about half of it zoned out while thinking about seventeen year old emilie agreste. and i was one of the most active participants in the class discussion

The other thing that I think I would want in an Annabeth Wayne AU that I don't think I've seen so far is Bruce being absolutely pissed at Athena.

It was bad enough with Talia and Damian, but Athena is a literal god of wisdom who should know better AND he doesn't even have the "culpability" of having slept with her.

She one hundred percent saw Batman, tactician of the Justice League, was drawn in by her aspect of the Goddess of Strategy, and proceeded to create a child without his consent, a daughter who she didn't even raise before the child became a weapon.

And like whatever else, however fucked up Damian was by his own training to become a child-weapon, at least Talia loved Damian.

Whereas Athena loves Annabeth in the way a Goddess loves, not the way a Person loves, and I don't think Bruce, whose entire identity is so fixated on his relationship with his own parents, would recognize that as love at all.

And, like, Talia put Damian through a lot of shit. I think Bruce would be angry there too. But when push came to shove, she at least at some point brought him to Bruce because she thought it was in her son's best interests.

Athena actively lead Annabeth away from Bruce and into the streets at the age of seven, which Bruce would never see as in her best interest, whatever Athena's godly perspective is, however badly he reacted after Jason's death, even though he couldn't see (and dismissed the idea of) the spiders and the monsters. She was seven. In the streets of Gotham.

Athena let Annabeth fight a major role in two wars back to back without being there to train her or protect her or love her or even advise her. Athena advocated for the cold blooded murder of the other children who had actually tried to keep his daughter safe. Athena sent Annabeth against Arachne when Athena's children have universally died on that quest for a thousand years.

Athena let Bruce think he had gotten Annabeth killed because of his own inability to handle his grief. Let him think his daughter was dead or worse for years. Would have let him keep thinking that if the Fates didn't have other plans.

And just, in true fashion for all of my ideas on a PJO x DC crossover, everyone really comes out more traumatized than before. This includes Bruce.

Because now he wasn't just used unknowingly for a child just once, but twice. And in both cases he's going to have to live forever with the guilt of not having been able to protect his kids from what their other parent wanted to make of them

(On top of all the ways he has directly failed them and made any complexes worse, of course )

I've been reading the Percy Jackson books for the first time over the past two weeks! Just finished "The Battle of the Labyrinth" last night (which btw is my favorite of the series so far!!)

I have now gained a new obsession but it might not be what you think

#like i swear to god i did not expect to be absolutely enthralled by the protagonist's mom kahskahfjkaja #she's just so fascinating to me #she's so kind and smart and she has given EVERYTHING for her son okay #like her staying married to an abuser for years to protect him omg she deserves the world #like when Poseidon called her a queen in the first book he was 100% right alright she is a queen #the woman murdered her abuser with a monster's head LIKE THAT'S SO AWESOME #also i cannot explain how obsessed i am with her relationship with Poseidon okay #like. do i want her to still have feelings for him? yes. do i need poseidon to pine and long for her from the distance?? but really he and anders aren’t even a thing in act 1 so it’s less like “PLEASE stop comparing my crush to our father” and more like “oh fuck off i spend my entire life trying to act like our dad and one (1) mage rolls up and suddenly he’s dad??”

#the bethany anders keir weirdness about malcolm is so real #because bethany says ‘you remind me of him (generally positive)’ in act 1 #but in later acts i think she’s still seeing the same thing just with a different uhhh mindset #seeing the way her dad wanted her to be something she wasnt and strive for something she was never sure was worth the sacrifice #how he tried to make decisions about what was best for other people. how he risked lives etc #whereas anders also has his own perception of malcolm which i think is quite... idealised #it means a lot to him that a mage raised a family that loved him. and hes envious of it #but thats definitely a standard anders is making up. if anders and malcolm really met we’d have to cast a barrier between them within five #minutes. for their own safety.#whereas keir in some ways saw a more complete version of his father from the beginning #but he also believes those more uhh flawed abrasive damaging sides are necessary. of course he does he repeats them #his father may not have been the easiest man in the world to live with but he always did what he had to #and kept his word and held himself to the same standards as others #but oh wait here’s the legacy dlc with the steel chair—#anyway my point being that u get these 3 in a room and theyre talking abt 3 entirely different malcolms. carnage #i dont think it would naturally occur to keir to compare anders to malcolm #but hed be like. ‘i GUESS?’ when bethany said it #honestly anders one of the things that’s kind of disillusioning abt malcolm bc like #i mean say what you like about my man anders but he was never all talk #not to dismiss the courage it took for malcolm to escape & raise a family #but thats one thing. insisting on using your abilities to help people & to go BACK for those still in the circle is kind of another #a lot of dialogue implying malcolm talked a big game about mage rights #but apart from raising a daughter who hates herself what did he actually do.#sorry thats mean but you see my point #and its not just justice that makes anders like that. sure he was more scared and hopeless about the circle #but his instincts are to help. you wouldnt catch malcolm going back to help against darkspawn even when told to run #and my malcolms also. gruff. stoic. serious. a man of few words. he does not do bits or tell you about his cat #if keir hears bethany compare anders to malcolm and at all agrees it’s not really anything about personality #he’s saying yeah i guess anders does seem like a good mage and a good man. thats the only commonality he would jump to #these tags got incredibly away from me

Just when I think the day's going well, I crash a golf cart

#summer camp tag #ace is a mess #i do not have a drivers license and i havent even been behind the wheel in like 4 years since i stopped lessons cus of the pandemic #the day was going fine i got loads done didnt feel like i was irritating my director too bad #doing some paperwork for her and she says when im done well take the golf cart out while its not currently raining #im like ooh fun never been in a golf cart before i see the higher up staff in them im not gonna say no to chilling in a golf cart #i did not realise that meant i would be driving esp when she asked if id been in one before and i said no #she then asked if i could drive and i said not really thought that would be it #cus i was supposed to be studying for my theory before working towards my practical #but no she insists im driving and first off i gotta reverse outta this bay now at least i didnt have to think about gears #but i hate tryna figure out how to turn whilst in reverse in mess with my brain im not great with shape visualisation #we do all our stops its fine for the most part a lil too fast going down some of the hills #and some tight turns but my turns were always like that cus im too busy focusing on the most immediate thing #we get back i park fine and then shes like oh actually there are some more stops we can make so i reverse and turn back out #do our two stops with only minimal confusion about direction then as i go to park into the bay we came from #shes like oh actually park in the bay closest to the health centre and what i should have done was reversed and adjusted my angle #instead i drove directly into the supporting beam separating the two bays 🙃😭#i immediately turn the cart off and expect her to switch with me instead shes like laughing it off oh it was just a little bump it was fine #im like it was not that was a loud ass bang i feel so bad and then she lifts up the light cover i broke off saying its just a scratch #and i feel worse so pf course thats when the camp director comes out to check on the noise and i dont think ive ever worn a guiltier look #but theyre both laughing it off oh just having a little driving lesson :) and i am mortified #she gets back in the cart and shes still insisting that its fine and i should still park after that which i do with great trepidation #but there are no more problems and the lights still work but the cover does need fixing and i just oh my god #ive never crashed before never clipped or scratched a car so of course id crash the golf cart trying to park of all things 😭

Ginger and Gingerbread or something, I don't know I didn't grow up with this show

#but the truth is NO ONE GREW UP WITH THIS SHOW!!! I came up with the project!!!#...well I guess that means I did grow up with it lol #anyway #Ginger (right) and Gingerbread (left) is a series about a sister and brother gingerbread cookies that get stuck in Gingerbread land #thanks to -and I'm not joking- a peppermint watch Gingerbread has that can traverse dimensions #It also included their Aunt(?) Cake and their cousins as well as the annoying next-door kid Sugar- I mean Sergeant #(who of course has an incessant crush on Ginger)#(but he does get better I promise)#theres also a human antagonist a cookie version of said antagonist and a “pretty” girl named Pepper who everyone (Ginger) hated #(and likewise Gingerbread had an incessant crush on Pepper but unlike Sergeant it does NOT get better with those two)#(also Pepper is Human Gingerbread Cookie whatever's cousin. So that's fun!)#The cousins were the most generic characters ever but I still love them #They were Cutie (the baby) Hungry (the... self explanatory) Gothy (also self explanatory) Scaredy (need I say more) and Sassy #Sassy was the bratty older teenager with a new boyfriend every week of course.#In the original series Sergeant was adopted by Aunt Cake and he and Sassy had a sibling rivalry #I may just make him an orphan now... lol... but I'll still make the Cake Cousins his found family #why did I not think of the cake cousins as a name sooner #anywho. #guys help is it time for a rebranding?? am I just gonna post about f1 now??#I still can’t believe this has all started because bestie and I were watching Ted Lasso (because I’ve been obsessed with that show for a #while now too) and I paused the episode to talk about how I really like the way Jamie interacts with kids (I’m sorry people being good with #and nice to kids is one of my weaknesses I work with kids now and have been invested in treating kids well forever)#so me saying that apparently reminded her of max and she showed me a video of him with p and yeah it was very effective in making me like #him and then we left the episode on pause and she told me a lot about f1 and max specifically cause I was interested now lmao (funny thing #is that she also got roped into it by our other friends I swear it’s speeding lmao #she also compared him to Jamie from Ted lasso (if you know you know) and showed me some heart wrenching Taylor swift edits (i haven’t #emotionally recovered yet) and yeah that’s how I started consuming way too much f1 content on YouTube and got into this whole mess lmao #oh yeah our friends also made me and another friend make a Tier list for all the drivers based on vibes alone (cause I only knew a bit about #max at that time and the other one knew nothing really) which was very funny too #especially looking back at it (we did some of them so dirty lmao 😂)#I’ve also come to the conclusion that tumblr is still one of the least annoying platforms to engage with other people (still)#YouTube is full of hate comments about drivers and stuff it’s so annoying actually #not to mention Twitter but I don’t go there and probably never will 😂#I personally don’t enjoy fics and scenarios and shipping of real people cause it makes me a bit uncomfy (not judging people who do #you do you as long as it doesn’t negatively affect anyone #but yeah I’d much rather just scroll by those here than have to look away from all the mindless hate and which driver is better discussions #everywhere else like I’m not one to engage with stuff like that but it does upset me to some #degree so yeah tumblr making memes and being rather positive about their drivers (most of what I’ve seen here of course there are gonna be #annoying people everywhere) is much more tolerable and a lot more enjoyable for me #whoops this post got away from me again oh dear #I’ve had the idea for a meme stuck in my head for days now: Max verstappen but make it if you don’t love me at my *swearing on team radio #giving spicy replies and attitude to the media maxplaining and complaining going for risky overtakes* you don’t deserve me at my *precious #interactions with p talking about his cats being a goofball with other drivers and especially danny defending other drivers driving #beautifully in the rain* it’s a package deal you can’t just pick and choose and personally I don’t even get why people complain about some #of the other stuff I appreciate someone who’s passionate and honest and genuinely kind where it matters 🤷🏻‍♀️#I think I’ve seen someone else say that but the more people complain about and criticize max the more I feel the need to defend him #god forbid women have hobbies for real (can’t believe I’ve yapped so much I can’t put more tags 💀)#also shoutout to Oscar Piastri and Danny Ric (I was so happy Oscar won even tho McLaren where being very silly in a not so funny way)
