random history trivia you should know: in the early 1800s people wore these hipster-style glasses. the first pair is indeed blue; lord byron was also fond of blue sunglasses. green on the right was another popular shade as it was thought cooler colors protected sight better from the yellowish warmth of light. i don't know if that's medically true, but i had a beloved pair of purple glasses once and i thought they were much more comfortable than regular black shades. i'm pretty sure the famous composer franz schubert in the middle there is just wearing regular eyeglasses.
Sources: John Wesley Jarvis' Portrait Of A Gentleman, 1807, composer Franz Schubert at age 17, 1814, Nathaniel Olds by Jeptha Homer Wade, 1839.

i just found myself rereading an old fic i wrote for the bletchley circle and it is so good? i didn't know i was capable of writing like that. i recall that i wrote it when i was taking several literature courses during my last term of undergrad and it turns out that being heavily immersed in the greats positively influences my writing??? will i learn anything from this? no.
#according to the date of publication i had handed in my senior thesis a month earlier and according to my records that month i was reading:#a Lot of V Woolf / a fair amount of L Strachey /Wolf Hall / a number of 19C travel memoirs to South America by Brits /#Angels and Insects / the poems of Hildegard of Bingen / the Exter Book Riddles in the original Old English#on the woolf specifically i think that month we were doing to the lighthouse and orlando but i'm not sure#oh and also I think on the advice of my writing teacher I had just started Saturday by Ian McEwan#speaking of Angels and Insects AS Byatt summer begins again this friday is everyone excited#we're starting with shadow of the sun and then i'm going to finish the frederica quartet#rare pic of me in the wild

Would anyone like to do art trade with me I want to draw more 19c american ppl & ships馃槶I think I鈥檓 okay to do most of the 1800-1860 politicians and such (amrev/antebellum/acw), although I鈥檓 not familiar with boys on battlefield (for any era lol I鈥檓 terribly sorry I hate wars.)
I have serious procrastination(?) might be very slow + I鈥檓 still a bit busy these days, but I鈥檒l have time to draw soon!
Whatever I just want something like. Clayhoun request (I鈥檓 a deep closet for many stuffs someday u find out I hate them I surely do) and wish someone feed me anything
Feel free to ask me anything anywhere or throw something into my ask box x

For once I can actually say I don't think it has any real issues, at least nothing you can't see just from the previews in this post. Like all trains in this game, the train might be underground in some positions and hovering slightly above the ground in others.

a good job for javert would be OSHA inspector
gdsgklsdhg this is so funny and horrible to consider
No railings on your walkways? well we can't go bothering someone who owns a factory over little things like that ! All the fire exits are locked during business hours to keep workers from sneaking out for breaks? Good job, teach them the value of work. Too many orphans getting crushed in the orphan-crushing machine? Worrying! Might cause some inconvenience to the owner if the machine jams! Fine the floor manager /foreman , if you can't find anyone lower down to fine.
He comes into conflict with Valjean bc Mayor Madeleine actually wants to keep his building up to code and Javert doesn't want to bother him
#this is all more hilarrifying if it's a 19C Factory#19C OSHA lmao#Javert: can't be bribed but doesn't need to be!#what a great post to let him get his hate / worship act going!#one feels dizzy contemplating it

Ina - an early 1870s dress
Inspired by fashion plates from the years 1870-1872, this colorful (and expensive!) dress is suitable for most occasions. It can even serve as a wedding gown.
This dress marks the end of the Catherine series, because just like me, my CC is entering a new era... A college era. Or maybe I was running out of Catherine diminutives to use. I am starting college though, that's true.

oh boy another literary studies blog post-cum-article on the function of the imagination vis a vis archiving that fails to cite any work from actual archival studies!!!!
#but yet again cites hartman (who i do love to be clear!!!) and derrida#i don't believe in calling out grad students by name but keywords here are upenn archives 19C novel#or just dm me if you want to know lol#as a theory hoe i do. like. respect the urge to theorize 'enclosures' (not what this article ends up doing) and archival limitations etc#but also! archivists are not not thinking about this themselves!!!#we've got articles too! we're also coming up with practical workarounds!#at least this time the author glancingly refers to the existence of the finding aid?#though continuing to ignore the archival labor that went into producing it :)#on the flip side of course many archivists are dumb as rocks and most saa publications are actively hostile to good writing. but still#as somebody without a phd but who spends a lot of time professionally and socially around those who do: respect the archivist or else!!!!
