I fucking hate Toby Fox

He creates the most obvious Tumblr sexyman to ever sexyman. He's basically Vox from Hazbin Hotel retro version (and 4 meters tall apparently). Personality wise, he's the illegitimate lovechild of Spamton and Mettaton. You can tell that the tall tuxedo-clad quirky showman was engineered to be purposefully likeable.

(in all fairness, his sprite being prerendered rather than 8-bit is a stroke of genius. In the 90s, such technology was mind blowing. Nowadays, he looks simply out of place, uncanny, aged much more poorly than the simpler faux 8-bit style of the rest of the game.)

"Ah ha!" I say, like the dumbass I am. "I see the trick behind the curtain, Mr. Fox. Your sexyman is cute, but I won't be fooled. Just because he's beeg and larger than life it doesn't mean I will fall for him."

Oh. Oh, I get it now. Tenna is not just the personification of 90s nostalgia. He represents Kris' longing for a family that no longer exists. He represents a childhood we can never return to. He represents love that has been lost. He represents the Child of Divorce's utter fear that they are unwanted, unloved, a mistake, to be thrown away and replaced. He traps the protagonists in a hellscape that clumsy mimics the Good Ol Times, but it's hopelessly broken, and not even he understands what he's doing anymore. He forces them to tell him that he's still loved and useful - and you have the option to deny his simple request out of spite, even if he punishes you for it. He kneels and begs when others abandon him.

And it's this absolute motherfucker that shot me in the heart by mumbling about how much he hates when the family is fighting again

I hate you, Toby Fox. How dare you play with me like this. I did, in fact, fall for the most obvious sexyman. And you gave him a banger theme, too, just to pour salt in the wound.
