Holy grail product/object/item/insert noun here?
[ask me things!]
I have a necklace that I cannot leave the house without wearing, which is the adult version of a safety blanket, I guess.
Obviously I can't function without my iPhone/AirPods and I'm basically a slave to the Apple ecosystem because I own nearly all of their products, but I can genuinely say that the one that has probably been the biggest game changer is the Apple Watch (which, incidentally, I thought was stupid until I bought it). I justified the purchase by saying it would force me to workout and then...actually followed through on that. I feel great (ugh, the devastating realization that exercising consistently DOES make you feel energized), I've inspired others at work to exercise (honestly, cut me a check with the way I brought in that business, Apple!), and I'm on a streak of closing every single one of my apple rings for nearly 650 consecutive days, which is absolutely bonkers.

Is iPhone Still the Best Smartphone Today?

Experience Matters Most
Many people love the iPhone. It feels smooth and fast. From the first tap, it works well. You don’t need to guess what to do. My mom, who hates tech, loves her iPhone. She said it “just makes sense.” That ease is hard to beat. Many phones have great screens and fast chips. But they can feel cold. Or hard to use. The iPhone is warm. Friendly. You feel safe with it. Updates come fast. Fixes are quick. New features come to old phones too. That shows care. Most Android phones don’t do that.
Even after years, iPhones stay fast. My iPhone XR still runs great. No lag. No bugs. My friend’s phone from the same year? Slow and full of pop-ups. Apple keeps its phones clean. That’s why many people stick with them. They know what to expect. It works the same, every time. That is peace of mind.
The iPhone feels good in your hand. The build is strong. Buttons feel tight. It’s not just glass and steel. It feels like care. That makes people proud to own one. It shows in the resale value too. Used iPhones sell for more. That says a lot.
Ecosystem Power
The iPhone works great on its own. But it shines with other Apple gear. Got a Mac? Got an iPad? They all talk to each other. I copy text on my Mac. Paste it on my iPhone. No app. No setup. It just works. That’s the Apple magic. You can’t find that match on Android. Even with top phones, it’s not smooth.
AirPods pair fast with iPhones. The sound is clean. You can switch between iPhone and iPad. Just like that. The Apple Watch too. It’s the best watch if you own an iPhone. Tracks steps. Shows texts. Unlocks the phone. These small things matter. They add up. They save time. And give joy.
Photos also sync across all Apple gear. No mess. No need to upload or share links. You take a pic on your iPhone. See it on your Mac in a sec. iCloud handles it. That’s why people stay. Once you're in, it's
The Price of Quality
Let’s talk price. iPhones cost a lot. No doubt. Some say it’s too much. But you get what you pay for. Many phones are cheaper. But they cut corners. Slow updates. Less support. Or they break fast. The iPhone lasts. My friend’s iPhone 8 still runs well. That's over 6 years old!
Some think Apple just sells a name. That’s not true. Yes, the logo is cool. But what’s inside counts too. Apple’s chip is fast. Its screen is sharp. The camera is smart. Night shots look great. Even in low light. Other phones try to catch up. Few match the full mix.
Also, you can fix iPhones more now. Apple offers parts and guides. That helps keep them alive longer. In the long run, that saves money. A cheap phone that dies in a year? Not a deal. So yes, the price is high. But value is more than price. It’s about how long it lasts. And how much joy it brings. For many, the iPhone still wins.

A homeowner in Texas has threatened to sue Apple after he says a glitch in the "Find My" app made people think he's stolen their iPhone and other products.
Scott Schuster took to Instagram on Sunday and claimed that people kept showing up to his Richmond, Texas, home, alleging that the app is pinging his home as the location of their devices.
"I have multiple videos of people very upset and accusing me of stealing their expensive devices," he wrote.
He told Houston ABC station KTRK that people have shown up to his home, which he's lived in since 2018, every few months for the last few years.
Schuster did not respond to ABC News' request for comment.
Schuster shared videos from his doorbell to KTRK of angry people showing up to his home accusing him of having their items, with one threatening to call the police on him.
"I tried to reach out to tech support already and they just closed my ticket," he wrote on Instagram. Schuster also reached out to Steve Wozniak, a co-founder of Apple, asking for help in resolving the issue.
The "Find My" application is a program that allows Apple users to find their iPhones, AirPods, Apple Watches, MacBooks and other products using a geolocation feature.
Schuster claims that the feature is "clearly" broken in his area, resulting in multiple people showing up at his home in recent years.

Lend Me Your Ear
It’s always a win for marketers when they can find new uses for their products, because it helps reinforce brand affinities and loyalties. A perfect example is the iPhone, and with iPhone16 recently announced and headed our way with incremental features, I suspect that people will be placing their orders in droves. Like me.
It’s even better when you can add a new product feature and, at the same time, appeal to a different demographic. This particular product was also announced at last week’s Apple conference, and it caught everyone off guard. Sure, we all expected a new phone and new watch. But new AirPods that could also serve as a hearing aid?
Huh? Can you say that again?
It’s true. The AirPods Pro2 model, which comes in at $249, can also aid those with mild to moderate hearing loss. While current owners of prior AirPods models run the complete age spectrum, they definitely skew younger. But which demo tends to be the one most afflicted with hearing loss? Seniors. It goes with the territory.

While the AirPods Pro2s won’t help much for those with profound hearing loss, the hearing aid industry had better be at full attention. Their market is about to erode before their very eyes, especially when you consider that traditional hearing aids, which only recently were allowed to be sold over-the-counter, clock in between $2000 and $7000. Apple just saved people up to 95%. Talk about a market disruption.
I don’t own any AirPods, primarily because they are prone to slipping out of your ear when sweating profusely. They’re also easy to lose, and if you lose one, you effectively lose both. Instead, I wear Shokz, which are two tiny speakers connected by a curved bridge that wraps around my head. The speakers sit on my jawbones, allowing me to hear both the content and ambient street noise. They also never ever fall off my head.
But I am impressed enough with the new AirPods Pro2 to consider a pair, not for exercise, but for casual wear. I know. They might look odd in some settings, like in meetings or in the classroom. But I do have mild hearing loss, and suffer from tinnitus. I probably had a bit too much fun throughout my life, having been to way more than 100 rock concerts. That’s the price you pay for rock-and-roll. Personally, I am mildly embarrassed when I have to ask students to repeat themselves in class. It’s frustrating.
Naturally, there’s still a big question mark to be resolved. Will seniors flock to the AirPods Pro2 as a cheaper solution to their hearing problems? What if they already own expensive hearing aids? Will they just quit using them? Sell them? And what about younger people without hearing problems? Might there come a stigma for these products that they are for old people, kind of like the support hose you see some geezers wearing to aid circulation?
I think the AirPods Pro2s are the real gem, a sleeper if you will, from last week’s announcements. While I have heard some analysts speculate that Apple will sell 240 million iPhone16s in the next year, I wouldn’t count out the AirPods as another major revenue stream. The 78 million of us Baby Boomers are all prime candidates for them, and that’s just older Americans. Never mind the fact that they are dirt cheap compared to a new phone, as well as old-school hearing aids.
Way to go, Apple, one more time. You made a product better, and dove into a whole new consumer demographic. These will be yet another thing I’ll have to tote with me wherever I go, alongside my Shokz. Different products for different usage applications.
And hearing problems notwithstanding, I know genius when I hear it speaking.

XXXV.
I used to never run with music. At least outdoors. First, the technology wasn't good enough, walkmens, discmans, etc. Second, I always had the attitude the music was cheating.
Well, an iPhone with earbuds (later AirPods) solved the technology problem. And times I was on a treadmill, I would indulge, figuring the boringness of the treadmill justified the performancing-enhancing boost of music.
Then in 2020 I read Haruki Murakami's book about running, and he talked about listening to music while running, and if a serious runner liked him didn't think it was cheating, it was good enough for me.
The Apple Watch I got later that year made it even easier, and I'd say in that just over three year period, I run with music >90% of the time.
I really got into to making running playlists. Slow tempo anything to start, mid tempo pop next, then depending on mood, up tempo electronic, dance, rock or hip-hop, back to slow tempo for a cool down.
But all this easy pace running I've been doing for this half marathon training program, up tempo is too fast. I've gone slow to mid tempo, usually pop or mainstream rock, it's opened up a whole new world of running music for me.
I go out there, I put my AirPods in, I play some guilty pleasure late '90s to mid '00s mainstream rock ballad by Hinder or Staind, I breath in the crisp, cool air of Florida winter, I watch the sky turn from dark to slightly less dark, I waive to neighbors, I sink into another easy pace 3 miles for 30 to 31-and-a-half minutes.

I am a Low Key Nerd and Naturalist
Nerd is so passé, I prefer 'complex human being'. But what I do know is, I am not apologizing to anyone for anything I wish to post. I ain't got no kids, and my parents is long dead. Last I checked ain't a single person paying one bill up in this house except me, I have no one to be beholden to regarding my activities.
Generally speaking I like to stay away from including nudes on this particular blog since I have posted more than enough of that other places on the internet. But, I feel no need to pretend that if I am going to get the opportunity I am going to celebrate my work before anything else.
Meaning I am mildly excited about iPad iOs 17, which in all actuality only has like really five cool updates, but one of them that I am not sure if its been on the phone for a minute or not, is the changing lock screens.
On my early 2008 Macbook Pro I had my desktop changing like every ten seconds with a bunch of photos from my porn archive which I had on an external drive. I always love to have an electronic device with some changing element. Traditionally on my tablets, and this is my third, I utilize my abstract work as lock and home screens. Usually two different images that will be unique to that specific device.
This Os update now allows me to indulge myself and my body dysmorphia, or put a more public face on my tablet. Albeit I plan on never leaving the house after that damn flu I caught on my daily walks, I think the public face for my tablet will be rarely used.
Another feature which is solely a personal fav is the ability to run more than one timer at a time. Sometimes I am washing something and want it to soak for four hours and during this time I may order some food and need to set a ten minute timer so I can perfectly time getting dressed for the delivery person. Now I can do that!
I also love how they show the countdown on the lock screen. I am going to be honest since I don't have a phone the lock screen was never a big thing to be, but with the tweaks to the clock and the widgets Apple is making it a more welcome place for a bit more creativity and self expression.
I love how they took into consideration the vertical and horizontal orientation that tablet user utilize and made sure the screens could be formatted to the orientation of the device, it took me playing on my second tablet to find the fully tweaks, but I enjoyed the intuitiveness in the design.
Eighteen page PDF, I read the whole thing about all the new features, so many things I don't use like the health app, air pods, Safari, FaceTime or rarely use if at all. I did try out the new iMessage tricks and tried out the new tool bar they have changed out the old one for.
I love how we can do voice notes that are sent with transcriptions. It makes the audio a bit more permanent, since I am sure the transcript can be copied and pasted. But I enjoy sharing my voice with folks so they can get all the nuance of exactly what I am saying and most importantly HOW I am saying it.
Technology and me have always been friends but I think it wise to use it smartly and don't overdo it. My twenty-seven year old nephew has a Macbook Air, AirPods, Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad. I told the nigga straight up he needs to buy some stock in Apple with him putting so much money in their pocket! #ForRealThough
I have only had like five computers and three tablets:
Mac SE (91 - 97 | returned to Campi)
Apple Powerbook 5300 (96 - 97 | recalled by Apple)
Apple Powerbook 1400c (97 - 01 | still have)
iMac G3 (02 - 09 | lent to Techu, never returned)
Macbook Pro (08 to present)
Tablets
iPad - 16 GB (2008 to present)
iPad Pro - 256 GB (2019 to present)
iPad Pro - 1 TB (2022 to present)
Currently I still use two of my tablets, and now that I have deleted a lot of data I can use my Macbook Pro to take trips down memory lane in the form of old photos, designs, videos and memories. I am a bougie bitch and primarily only deal with Apple. I could have bought a new laptop but my iPad Pro especially with the Apple Magic Keyboard really has all the computing power I need for my current needs.
I did win a FreePC through that advertising scheme years ago, where they gave away "free" Windows computers that had very heavy advertising on them. Anyway my yoga was shot today because I spent the morning on my laptop then got caught up in iOs 17 and that was all she wrote.
Today is supposed to be my regularly scheduled program day and I only got through two episodes of Killing Eve. Anyhow let me attempt to watch my shows, albeit I am excited I have a new distraction that is creating great content for my mini-blog and allowing me to reconnect with some folks who I am sharing what I find.

Dante smiled wide and nodded his head, "Damn straight I do, Mal." Dad life was actually the only part of his life that ever made the most sense, but that could also be because he had been in such a role for majority of his life. He was basically a dad with his sister, but at least now, he didn't have to worry about his kids suffering in the same way he and his sister did. "We really did. I'll be sure to send you a fruit basket in appreciation." He joked, then arching a brow, "As long as there's a cold pool within reach, I guess I could understand that." He chuckled, "Yeah, I do not recommend the teenage years for shit." He never was a fan of those, "Enjoy it while you can, because they turn mean as a shark once they realize adults aren't cool anymore." Add in having to be strict and well, that was always a great time. "My teen wants the new iphone, mac computer, apple watch, new airpods, a redesign of her room, and an entire restock of her facial care and make up." He shook his head, "She's about to be 16. I don't know who the hell she thinks she's trying to fool." He bet if her mom had any say, though, she'll get it all. "My 8 year old.. he'd like a iphone. That's not happening yet. But thankfully most of his other stuff is kid stuff. Toys, a bike, stakeboard, basketball hoop." He snorted, aware that his kids could at times sound spoiled and out of touch, but considering how he grew up... he'd let them. "The entire cast? Like the characters? Damn -- when's her birthday, I feel that could be a little more doable for like a party." He thought out loud, "I know someone who owns one of those dress up business for kids. That could work?"
Malia let out a laugh and turned to face Dante. "Backyard dad life? I bet you rock those cargo shorts and flip-flops!" She gave him a wink. "But seriously, I'm glad you're enjoying this little escape. We both needed it." She thought about what he'd said regarding winter, her nose wrinkling a bit. "I guess it's not terrible here, but I still miss those scorching Southern summers sometimes." Malia's eyes grew at the mention of holiday lists. "Teenagers have a lot they want, dad. Get used to it. Oof, I'm not ready for that with Leilani. My wallet's already crying." She stopped for a moment, her interest sparked. "What's on their wishlists this year? Anything wild? Have you seen Wish? That’s what Leilani wants for Christmas. The entire cast. Not even the toy. How do you tell her they're not real?”

Apple, Holiday Sway, by Sam Brown
For the 2017 holiday season, Apple did an ad to promote the iPhone X and its Airpods. As everyone knows (I think), the holiday season is a special time when brands compete with creativity to make moving and special ads that people will keep in mind, because Christmas means Christmas shopping, obviously.
In the video, a woman walks down the street with her AirPods in her ears. When the Sam Smith’s song, Palace, starts, or, more precisely when he starts singing, the woman starts dancing and fall into another dimension where she’s free to express herself without anyone and without the sounds of the street to distract her. Her meeting with a man stops her, before they fall , both of them, into that dimension together, thanks to the music she’s sharing with him through her AirPod. Their dance became slowly more and more surreal, and when they finally slow down, just before they kiss, reality brings them in the street, with all the noisy stuff that it includes. We see that the man doesn’t have AirPods on him, so their dance never really happened, the woman just pushed him in the street. But when they slowly parts ways, their eyes are saying that, in another word, they would have a brief moment of surreal beauty together.
In fact, Apple was clever, the video literally means that AirPods can help you meet the love of your life, in a way, which is amazing. And for a lot of people, the holiday season means spending time with their loved ones (we don’t even count the number of holiday’s movies and their love stories). Soooo, if you want to find the love of your life on the street and fall in love with them at the first sight, buy AirPods.
Joke aside, it’s one of my favorite ads of all time, maybe because I enjoy Apple’s product, but especially because the video is quite elegant and poetic. The fact that Palace is one of my favorite Sam Smith’s songs is just the cherry on top.

it doesn’t. ends up texting or watching youtube gameplay

snacks breaks are the only thing keeping him Normal
leaves himself an encouraging note at the end of the reading page so when he’s finished he feels good !!

probably runs a studyblr/gram
has the cutest note ever, his handwriting is so pretty!!
he thinks that buying an ipad pro & apple pencil will make him smarter

a utensil chewer (always willing to share his pencil but when ppl saw the bite marks they’re like No Thanks >_>)

sometimes forget to mute his mic and we just hear him groaning in frustration
“haha sorry i just stubbed my toe...”
then mutes his mic and goes back to his mental breakdown
MINGI:
the only person that studies every single day just to get his brain used to the information and running
probably listens to anime op or edm music for that Energy Boost
everyone either hates or love him because...
1. loves him bc he always comes clutched with study guides (and willing to share if he likes you enough)
2. he’s good at everything even if he’s not paying attention/doing it last minute
just naturally good at retaining information and applying them
asks Big Brain question that even the professors are shook
sometimes he gets super into the topic and wants to know Everything
“i’ve never failed an exam in my life” and he’s right! big brain mingi

only the study guides and slides, his textbook is collecting dust rn
his notes are literally Only for him because his handwriting only makes sense to him
has questionable handwriting,,, it’s like decoding
multitasks a lot but it ends up taking a lot longer than he wanted to (bc it’s a myth)
very spontaneous; he’ll grind for 5 hours straight but sometimes he won’t even touch a pencil
works best when he talks about the work in groups and share information with each other, like having a convo about the topic
unmutes his mic Once after the lesson to say “bye”

Dang Pops, I thought you didn't throw away your money on corporations. What I mean is: why say "don't give money to Amazon/Disney" when you are actively advertising paying for appletv!? Isn't it hypocrisy? Apple has a chokehold on app developers so horrible that they are losing court cases for how bad they are, yet you are OK with giving them money and advertising that you do. But I guess because app developers aren't your industry then it is ok for them to be abused. And yeah yeah, I know you are gonna be all "that's a quite reach" but is it!? Apple is just as bad or worse than Disney/Amazon and yet because it doesn't affect you directly then it seems ok to you to support that trashy monopolistic company. Idk Papi, I thought you were better than this. You kept saying torrent this, torrent that, yet here we are... paying for appletv. 💔
Apple is worse than Amazon??? Than Disney??? Check yourself lol.
But also...the entire first year of Apple TV was free because they were literally giving it away to certain people so I didn't pay for it to watch the first season of Dickinson. Pretty sure giving them $4.99 for Apple TV for the two months out of the year Dickinson was on the air for seasons 2 and 3 isn't the most money I have given Apple seeing as I own two iPads, AirPods Pro, an Apple Pencil, an iMac, a Macbook, and an iPhone. They got a whole extra $20-$30 out of me for a few months of Apple TV. Doubt they're going to take over the world with it.
Apple is one of those things you mostly can't avoid if you're in my industry. Particularly if you're a director because of all the apps and stuff we use. Most of those are iPad based. The vast majority of people in entertainment have Apple products. I wouldn't say it's "the standard" because there isn't one but it almost is the unspoken one. I also just don't fuck with Androids in general. Not my thing. So, yeah, what is the alternative here? A Google phone? That uses the Google Play store? It's the same corporation shit??? Google is FOR SURE worse than Apple lol. I'll keep my iPhone. Thank you very much. At least it's a good phone with solid UI lol. If I'm going to pick the one unavoidable evil corporation I'm going to give money to, I'll stick with Apple any day.
Besides, someone told me the BTS thing for Dickinson was on YouTube so I didn't pay the subscription again.

FIELDWORK
1.) What is the history of the item?
As we all know, the Apple world is big. From iPods to iPhones, from MacBooks to iPads, and from apple watches to AirPods. Apple has made the technology world so big and powerful with its products it's astonishing. Especially with the iPhone, the phone that everybody either wants or has. The first model of the iPhone was released in 2007, and the newest one was released in late 2020. There has been a total of 12 versions and 29 different models throughout the years. Now there are about 101 million iPhone users, and the iPhone has sold over 1 billion phones. How cool is that? Did you know the iPhone was top-secret, and the first person to have it was Greg Packer? He bought it for $500 compared to what we get it, for now nearly $1,000!
2.) Where was your item made or manufactured?
The iPhone manufacturing process is bizarre. It takes at least 400 steps to assemble, and in the factory, they produce 500,000 iPhones a day which is about 350 phones a minute! The people and machines work hard for sure. The iPhone is mainly manufactured in China, but other countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Taiwan also help contribute to the manufacturing of the iPhone. Despite that, all the engineering and designs are made in the U.S., making it an American product. Here to say, I've always thought it was a Chinese product.
3.) What impact does the item have on your life?
The iPhone has changed and better my life in numerous ways. Like what was life before, people had phones and computers? I can't imagine it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I can live without a phone, but still imagine how that would be. The iPhone has made it possible for me to stay connected with family and friends far away. It has allowed me to hand in and finish schoolwork quickly. It has also allowed me to engage and meet new people from all over the world through social media sites such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Tictok. A phone, in general, has improved communication and ideas among people, making it an example of a time-spaced compression!
4.)Who are the people directly involved with making or manufacturing this item? What is life like for them?
People directly involved in manufacturing the iPhone are called factory workers, and most of them are Chinese. When it comes down to how life is for those people, it may get confusing. Some sources say different things because they have different viewpoints on the situation. For example, a source from BBC News states that "all workers are being compensated appropriately, including any overtime wages and bonuses, all overtime work was voluntary, and there was no evidence of forced labor." This statement from Apple is notifying people that their workers are treated fairly and correctly. Although, another source from USA Today states that workers from "Apple's factory are underpaying workers and forcing them to work in harsh conditions. One of the most glaring laws broken involved temporary employees or "dispatch workers." As you can see, there are two different views to this case. I think you can find out the truth by asking apple workers around the world. Maybe the ones in China get treated poorly while the ones in America don't.
