I know If You Want Divinity is like extremely earnest and borderline corny and I didn’t intend that going in bc it was meant to more be an exercise in Can I Write a Situation in which Jace Can Reclaim Some Power in their “relationship” but also like. As it evolved I think I just realized that it was turning into like. I think this the closest these two can maybe get to love. Or the closest I can get to writing it. Like. It is love. But it isn’t? Is I love if they’re looking past each other the whole time? Tbh it wasn’t even until I wrote that Jace wanted Porter to stay that I was like. Oh. So that’s what this is about. I don’t really consider it a story where they make it. It’s unstoppable force meets immovable object bc they both long for the collision.

I find it kind of stupid how 'half full' vs 'half empty' is framed as an optimist/pessimist thing. If it starts full and gets halfway drained, it's half empty. If it starts empty and gets halfway filled, it's half full. If you don't know the starting state it's both simultaneously.
