bc i mentioned it to trixie last night btw i hope i dont come across as being anti realistic designs in warrior cats. i love making certain cats be different real breeds the erins didnt consider and i think getting creative and changing coats to match real genetics can be fun. i just hate the attitude that thats what you HAVE to do and not doing it is cringe culture and the only thing wc has ever done wrong is have a tortie born from two gray cats and not everything else

🌈 : what's the most 2010s wcforum era esque fandom opinion you still hold onto and will fight people over (things like scourges collar color, dovewings eye color, etc)
gotta be honest lads i was not there in the 2010s wcforums and can't think of anything i would go to war over rn, but here's my take on those specific discourses and some other superficial opinions i have on purely aesthetic details about characters, since i think purely aesthetic details are the most trivial topics you can be weirdly opinionated about
scourge's collar is purple by default but can also be some sort of funny novelty collar or a pride flag or some shit
dovewing's eyes are green by default but anything else is fun and allowed
short squirrelstar gang
longtail is yellow or cream, maybe a pale brown at a stretch, end of discussion
ravenpaw's eyes are not green i don't care what canon says. purple or gold.
cinderpelt cannot be both short-furred and skinny to me. she has to be fluffy or fat or buff or any combination of those things, or even just kinda neutrally cat shaped even. the law
flipclaw is a tiny little guy and he takes after his mum, ivypool, who is also a wee scrawny thing.
i do not give a shit about the crime or whatever of people making characters who are not torties torties i think it's cool as hell, especially if the design still reads clearly as the original character despite that divergence. same goes for swapped around eye colours, or any other changes.

We should bring back silly discourse to fandom, like the color of scourge's collar. (its red, btw.)
I want something to yell about that people don't make into a goddamn moral issue.

broke: doing discourse over the wiki changing the pride flag on fury's collar (stupid, lame, gay man scourge baby fury is the funniest thing that website has ever done)
WOKE: doing discourse because they took away her neon orange eye

Hey guys for Warriors’ 20th birthday I suggest we get rid of Scourge collar color discourse and start Rusty collar color discourse instead. I think his collar was green.

Redesigning characters is FINE. It's FUN. You need to fucking calm down if you think otherwise.
There's nothing wrong with that as long as it's not done to somebody's oc (without consent) or they don't imply it's "fixing" the characters.
Some artists like to see themselves as characters they love, so they'll change their skin colour or body type or ethnicity or something else about them. It's FINE, it's just done for fun, as long as it's not done for clout chasing (often done by people who, for example, are skinny but redesign characters to be fat just to seem progressive) and the artist doesn't say they're "fixing" them it's FINE.
Some media, like animation, are limited in the designs they can portray. Artists don't have the same limitations as animation or movies have, so it's fun to draw characters with more detailed designs! For example, MLP characters partly so simplistic in their design so it'd be easier to animate them, but when you don't have to draw them 25+ times just to make a second of animation then it's fine and FUN to make their designs a little more complex! Sometimes the designs that are intentionally simplistic for animation look boring or flat in drawing because it's a different medium, so artists might want to redesign them slightly so they look better for that specific medium!
HELL, sometimes artists just like having artistic freedom and like to redesign characters because they prefer that type of design choice. Sometimes, like in book series designs, artists like to be more original with their depictions of certain characters. I'm gonna draw Mapleshade as a white cat with black and ginger freckles instead of a mostly black calico, who the fuck cares!
IT'S NOT A BAD THING.

someone brought up collar color discourse so I legally had to draw this. It’s not a scourge design if it doesn’t have the hair (tm)

I am a very firm believer that people can do whatever the fuck they want with designs and it's cool. it's chill. white scourge? why the fuck not? tortie firestar? FUCK yes. HOWEVER. if you draw ravenpaw with green eyes, I'm sorry but you're wrong.

I think that there would probably be some discourse abt Carter’s sexuality (unfortunately)
what fandom discourse would there be surrounding my character if they were canon?
((oh, yeah, I can definitely see that tbh - that and her gender. I've certainly seen that show up a lot with canon characters rip
