Andrew settles at the top of the stairs where he can hear what is being discussed by his foster parents and the case worker. His mother's name is Tilda Minyard. She's an alcoholic and drug user. She's physically violent with Aaron. Aaron may be addicted but they're not sure.

His foster parents ask the main questions that most foster parents ask. For all that they very much don't seem to actually give a shit about Andrew personally, they have made sure he has everything he needs. They've even asked if he wants to do any extra curriculars.

Andrew doesn't need warmth from the parents in his life, but he thinks Aaron might.

WIP Wednesday (1/17) || Arsonist Neil / Firefighter Andrew AU (Part 87.5)

Aaron presses the eject button and the TV screen goes back to blue when the tray pops out. Andrew watches as he takes the disc out and turns around with a look on his face. Aaron clears his throat and waves the disc around.

“I thought it would be like that movie Nicky made us go to that one time. Ya know, the one with the grizzly bear and the little goat, or whatever it was.”

“The bear and the little goat…” Andrew repeats, confused.

It takes a moment, but memories of high school come flooding into his head and Andrew recalls the night Nicky dragged them both out on an adventure to the movies. But on the way there, the two of them started arguing. Nicky decided since they were acting like babies, they could watch a baby movie. Instead of one of the horror movies that they were arguing about. It was called Open Season and it was about a pet grizzly getting turned out into the wild for the first time.

It was a fitting, but also unjust punishment. For Aaron, anyway. You see, Andrew had still been medicated back then and… Well, he found it hilarious. He remembers cackling at every joke and flipping off an actual seven year old when she looked at him funny. Andrew cringes internally.

"It was a deer. Not a goat." Andrew says finally. "And it wasn't that good."

“I know it wasn't. But you really liked it." Aaron says, confused.

“I was high off my ass on anti-psychotics.” Andrew says, matter-of-factly. “I thought watching the bathroom faucet drip was fun back then.”

“Oh.” Aaron’s expression crumbles like wet sand. “I thought… Uh. Anyway, happy birthday.”

“Mm. Thanks. You too.” Andrew says, crossing his arms. “What are we doing for Christmas? Waterboarding practice? You can go first."

“It wasn’t that bad!” Aaron insists.

“It was.”

“Okay, it was.”

andrew and aaron both being assholes is hilarious to me because with siblings there's like a 20 percent chance of you ends up being like a total sweetheart while the others are extreme bitches but these guys are both out here being dicks 24/7 if i was trapped in a room with them i'd take the riko ending because there's no way i'm getting out of that without life lasting trauma

i have said this before and i will say this again but andrew and aaron being comedically tiny is ESSENTIAL to my enjoyment of aftg. some five foot nothing loser is so scary matt hid behind him for protection against someone nicknamed GORILLA. this middle-schooler just decked a man a foot and a half taller than him and flattened him. contact sports irl are populated almost entirely by very big very tall people almost by definition. andrew maybe could get a pass because hes in goal but aaron and neil would be clobbered to death. i do not care. these smidgy ass jerks are my lifeblood nothing makes me happier than remembering that no matter how bad things may be, i am still taller than andrew minyard.

yes, I’m still writing that god awful fanfic! It’s growing daily, honestly I stopped checking the word count after 80k bc it was starting to scare me.

And no I won’t be uploading it soon, it’s still not finished (though I’m closer to the end than ever (not that I’havent said that before or anything 🤡))
