so ig I’ll expand on some short headcanons here!

so i mentioned last time i talked abt this being like a cultural hylian thing to only touch the ears of someone you love dearly, so like obviously parent/child, maybe older/younger siblings, etc. but i like to think generally,

esp as hylians grow up and become adults, their ears are like a thing only lovers/spouses touch/take care of

including piercings a lot of the time, so like a parent or sibling or lover will learn to properly pierce ears (tho i imagine they only really pierce non-cartilage piercings commonly)

so on the subject of piercings, i definitely think they see any multiple piercings/cartilage piercings on your ears as badass/def a show of good pain tolerance regardless of what you acc can withstand lol

(bro and if you have non-ear piercings?? Wind/Wild is Fascinated, and Leg/Hyrule/Sky/Wars jaws def dropped, even Time’s eye widened)

How about some head cannons for blue berry academy students befriending a new student reader who turns out to be a faller? The reader is from our world and does have at least some memory loss.

And so I might have turned it into a fic and not a list of HCs... lemme know if you want me to rewrite it lol -- it was getting kinda long so this might just be a part one of two if people actually like it. If not I'll just move onto other things :p

With the multi-billion dollar project underway to extend Blueberry Academy's underwater campus, there's been an influx of new students lining up to attend the recently founded institution!

As for you who may or may not have crash-landed in Unova not long ago -you with no credentials- there's no way you could have applied to join the wave of incoming students... had it not been for a string of improbable events that tied you up in some top secret plot.

An unpredicted meteor ripped through the planet's atmosphere in the late hours of night. A burst of unusual green-blue energy had not only been visible to the naked eye, but it set off all the satellite radars in the region. And what stumbled out of the impact zone was the most unlikely part of the story.

... Where... were you? Did you... fall asleep again? Opening your eyes, the cold midnight wilderness flashed alight with an eerie aurora floating close to the ground. The dust was settling, but instead of dispersing into the dirt, it'd been floating up back toward the clear starflecked sky. The surrounding field stood littered with broken shards of... something. They'd been decaying into twinkling flakes light enough to float off the ground — and being that it was pitch black, the only light you had to see was quickly dispersing from the stripped soil and clumps of torn up grass. Once they'd burnt the last of their light, it had left you nothing but one last gentle light source. Registering the mysterious shimmering crystal not far from your face, you sat up, with no proper sense of how you'd got there or what it had been doing on top of you. You must've walked for miles with it in your arms before passing out from exhaustion.

You're really asleep again. You tried to cry out, open your eyes. Nothing happened. You tried to feel your fingertips, your breath in and out of your nose. Where is your body? Nothing... happened. The shell forming around you kept out the melded together white silhouettes, but it also kept you in. But a woman burst through the doors, and you couldn't make out here face as she yelled at them to stop. No, all you could make out was the familiar pattern of her earrings. "Can't you see that you can't drill through this?!" She pushed them out of the way, standing between you and their stainless steel tools. "You'll do nothing but hurt the both of them!"

You press the A-button again. "More a shell of what you once were... Something I lament to say likely cannot be reversed." A-button. "Nay, you are not the you that I once knew." You... press it again. "..." It does not speak, so you press it again.

Terapagos had been your only one constant since day one, and he was wary of most other people. You trusted his judgement the most. Most other people. The lunch ladies were apparently the saints of the Pokemon world. The food staff are genuinely kind, and Terapagos is a fiend for all types of Pokemon confections you're quickly learning. They've told you that most Pokemon have a taste preference, but not your special little pal, though the poor thing had such a tiny stomach that does not match his monstrous appetite at all.

There's one other person Terapagos had once been intent on pestering in at the cafeteria, but was quickly distracted by another helping of berries and whipped cream.

Compliments to the hardworking Alcremie in the kitchen, they were the only ones who could truly keep his menace at bay... You were endlessly thankful for the distraction, anyway. You wouldn't have known what to do if he'd marched right on up to the four of them chatting amongst themselves over lunch. Red haired dude. Pink haired girl. Scary four eyes. Annoying dragon jerk. Happy Wisdom Saga day! For the fun, I spent multiple hours creating this- Every time Epic calls back to a previous song: a very non-exhaustive list. First is what I noticed by ear and second is what Jorge has said on the topic at time of writing. The order is merely the order in which I wrote my notes. Wisdom Saga spoilers ahead!

Survive calls back to Zeus' verse in The Horse and the Infant. Suffering also calls back to this verse with the "he will chase you high and low".

Ruthlessness calls back to Full Speed Ahead with the "43 left under your command".

Mutiny, Scylla, KYFC, and Underworld all have the crew sing "Full Speed Ahead".

The way the crew sings their "oh" in Remember Them gets called back to in Different Beasts and Monster.

The way Polyphemus sings "nobody" in Remember Them mimics how Odysseus sings it when he gives him the wine.

"Let's grab the sheep and away we go" mimics the "we're off, we're off, and away we go" from Full Speed Ahead.

Remember Them plays Athena's motif along with the returning "have you forgotten the lessons I taught you?"

Remember Them features a musical version of "we're off, we're off, and away we go". Odysseus also says "I am your darkest moment" which Poseidon will call back to later.

My Goodbye does the "Just A Man" thing and calls back to the long "miiiiiind" with "goodbyyyyyye".

Puppeteer opens with a tune from Full Speed Ahead.

When Eurylochus gets shut down by Odysseus in Puppeteer, he says "okay" the same way as in Luck Runs Out, accompanied by the same music. In the same vein, the way Ody says "what" to the lotus eaters' "it's treasure!" is similar to his "what" when Polyphemus decides to kill him last, accompanied by his motif.

KYFC, Suffering, and pretty much every other song with any hint of Penelope do the "Penelope~" thing and all I can think every time is "banana peels~"

When Eurylochus opens the wind bag, the crew sing Storm and Full Speed Ahead.

There Are Other Ways calls back to Puppeteer with "don't be afraid", Wouldn't You Like with "so much power", and Just A Man with "I'm just a man" and "forgive me". Penelope's theme also appears instead of the outright "banana peels~".

There is a motif that plays at the very beginning of The Horse and the Infant that plays all across the musical, including Warriors of the Mind and Underworld (and more that I didn't write down).

Underworld calls back to Full Speed Ahead and Just A Man (and the way they sing "558 men" made me think of Perimedes lol). It also has the crew sing "captain" like when they were dying in Ruthlessness (Jorge wth).

Eurylochus' "forgive me" in Scylla mimics the "forgive me" from Just A Man.

Mutiny opens with the Luck Runs Out motif and has them sing the "please don't tell me you're about to do what I think you'll do" bit but reversed. Eurylochus sings about the cows and their hunger to the same tune as Zeus' verse in The Horse and the Infant/the opening of Survive.

Thunder Bringer has Odysseus beg "please don't make me do this" like in THatI and features Just A Man's "when does a cabbage become a meteor"/ Suffering's chorus.

When Telemachus says "give me a sign", Athena's motif plays. This also plays across this saga in We'll Be Fine, Love In Paradise, and God Games (except in GG it's a choir version).

Jorge said there's a sound effect for whenever Athena pulls someone into Quick Thought (I think that's what it's called). This plays when she helps Telemachus in Little Wolf.

The way she sings "apaaaaaart" in We'll Be Fine is reminiscent of the "miiiiiind" from WotM.

When Telemachus' verse begins in WBF, the Warriors of the Mind music begins playing. When he sings "you're my friend, I couldn't ask for more" he sings it similarly to "I wanna be legendary".

Ugh. Love In Paradise calls back to Remember Them, Keep Your Friends Close, Ruthlessness, Done For, No Longer You, Different Beasts, Scylla, and Mutiny. This song really turned around cause when it began, I was not a fan (can you tell why lol).

When Odysseus tries to jump off the cliff, the music from the opening of Polyphemus plays. We also get Underworld references with "all I hear are screams" and Ody's mom, as well as Open Arms and Luck Runs Out.

Have to break character here but "she's my wife." "...anyway-" made me snort so loudly.

"I'm not your man" is "I'm just a man".

Athena says "Odysseus" in God Games like how the crew does in Remember Them and Different Beasts (yknow, after the "oh, ooh oho" segments).

Thunder Bringer plays when Zeus introduces Hephaestus and of course when he murks Athena.

I never noticed before but Athena actually pulls Aphrodite into Quick Thought to ask her to reconsider and thEN ARES BREAKS IT/USES HIS OWN THING?? AND THEN ATHENA OVERPOWERS IT TO SAY HER PIECE??!! GOD GAMES IS AWESOME WHAT THE FUCK.

When Athena is "killed(?)" by Zeus, a piano version of Warriors of the Mind plays, as well as a quick "I wanna be legendary".

According to Jorge, Penelope's instrument (a viola) does not appear in Suffering but rather a mallet, as it is still the instrument of SOMEONE he cares about (Polites :(((), just not his wife.

The musical features a "Danger Motif" that appears whenever there is a threat. This can be heard when the men attack the city in The Horse and the Infant. In Ruthlessness, Poseidon's name is sung to that tune as he is a very present and very powerful danger.

Circe has a tune/kick drum combo that repeats across all three of her songs.

During Odysseus' speech in Puppeteer, a lyre is used, indicating that Hermes is listening in.

Eurylochus doesn't have an accompanying instrument of his own, however he does always have the voices of the crew to harmonize with him since "he always tries his best to protect them". Jorge wth.

When Eurylochus pulls his sword against Odysseus in Mutiny, an electric guitar is used (Odysseus' instrument) as he is trying to take Odysseus' place. JORGE. WTH.

When Odysseus tries to reason with Eurylochus as his friend in Luck Runs Out, it has the same type of progression as Open Arms, showing that Polites' belief still holds over Odysseus.

Magical Disposition

And the little rambles and side notes we made along the way

All casters have specific magical dispositions, beginning with their leanings toward Light or Darkness. This leaning often has an effect on the elemental magic that they gravitate towards; Light casters showing considerable aptitude in Air, Water, or Ice spells, whilst Dark casters are more inclined to be proficient in Fire, Earth, or Lightning spells.

In this way, Light-leaning casters are unlikely to have a natural aptitude in Dark-leaning elements, though such aptitudes are not impossible. Apprentices are encouraged to learn the base level of all elemental spells, in order to identify where their natural aptitudes lie.

As an apprentice becomes more skilled with elements they share a natural aptitude for, the more likely they are to exhibit this aptitude in accidental ways. This accidental magic is most often tied to emotional distress; an example of such being an apprentice with an aptitude of fire, who, overwhelmed by the seemingly unending piles of books their master ordered them to read, set fire to the entire stack.

Magical disposition can also affect the appearance of magic being cast, though this rarely affects the potency of the intended spell. Drawing from the previous example, the apprentice mentioned often cast Fire tainted with the color of Darkness, the result being purple flames that were no less potent due to the visual discrepancy.

How's this look on the cast then? Ignoring canon, letting it be a free-for-all….

Ventus and Aqua are never going to master fire and earth skills, such as firaga. Their strength is obvious (like, in the names, man), though Aqua will probably have that Stop magic to a fucking T. Ventus again, obvious- wind is his forte and Salvation exists.

Terra and Axel would never master ice skills (tbf Axel will probably have nothing to do with Ice or Water ever), and probably never master healing spells either. Both their strengths are obvious.

Riku is balanced enough that he could master everything. Like, literally everything he’s probs the only motherfucker that popped out of the womb who can say “yeah I got everything but Wish”. Roxas and Xion got him beat tho they probably can learn everything and the couch too.

Vanitas will never learn healing spells. Ever. He's got his Darkness and his big ol' orbs of purple fire, he's good. That said, I like the idea that he is gonna learn a lot of very…protective spells. Eventually. And be insanely good at them. (because protective spells are wiiiiiiind and he can deny his origins if he likes but THEY’RE THERE, TOUGH SHIT)

Sora won’t learn gravity magic and won’t master time magic. I’m actually unsure if he’ll master anything beyond healing and protection spells because he’s just more of a “but what if I just stab it” kind of guy. KH's everyman, the equivalent of FFXIV's Meteor/White Bread Man. Considering Roxas and Xion, he could be more. He just doesn’t want to. Also his “Wish” is kind of off the charts so does he need anything else probs not??? He’s “competent” with most magics but hitting shit is what he excels at.

Kairi and Namine will probably never learn literally anything Dark leaning (outside of corridors for Nams) but considering their “Wish” magic is also off the fucking charts that’s probably for the best.

Donald lol. So he has a super leaning to fire (and lightning he spams this AoE like it's going out of fashion in KH2) and I’m keeping it because Vanitas will never let that go. Mickey is very much like… the taught student, so Light stuff, time stuff, press X to spam Holy. Goofy is legit just like, an AoE buff spammer, and nothing else. His aptitude for magic is super low.

Fire Magic is the most obvious difference between two people casting at the same level, because it’s very visual. Light wielders will generally create a fire that looks more “natural”, whereas Dark wielders actively have to work to prevent the Darkness from distorting the coloration and effect, since Darkness is ironically more predisposed to heat. Which means Axel summoning a literal room full of naturally coloured fire is a big fucking deal.

Another obvious difference I’m gonna whack in here is that people with elemental learnings are way more liable to affect their magic via emotions, particularly when they’re untrained. So when Ventus is stupid mad he accidentally summons tornados. Aqua freezes shit she’s touching Elsa-style, and the temperature around her drops. Terra makes the ground quake. Vanitas makes the area around him darker, on top of… you know. Spawning Unversed.

I just got BG3 less than 4 days ago and I already spent 30 hrs and still didn't make it to the Goblin camp lol.

That being said, KNAK AU but as the party closer and closer to the end of the adventure knak reader magic becomes so powerful Mystra and Shar and the other gods take notice and it becomes a problem. I imagine Knak reader magic is like Final Fantasy magic, only limited by mana so imagine them casually casting Meteor or Giga Flare.

Actually that *is* very close to how I was picturing their magic but a more Dragon Age style levels at first. Only with a natural regeneration ability for their mana that's just a little too effective.

The gods had always kept a strong eye on you. You the interloper who refused to bend to their world's whims and laws. You who has a near infinite supply of magic. Unchecked you could easily ascend to Godhood.

Some wished to manipulate you, earn your loyalty so when that time came you would follow them. The added power would only solidify their standing. One of such was Mystra. The goddess had actually tried, she was good at manipulating children after all. Shaping them to be what *she* wanted, though she only went for the most skilled.

You were a problem child though. None of her tactics worked, even when she began to use Gale's condition as leverage. You were unmoved, what she didn't know is you'd been slowly defusing the bomb in him. The dispell wasn't as quick as you'd like but the repeated use was wearing it down, it was only a matter before you broke it.

Shar is in the camp of those who would see the reader eliminated before ascension can happen. You're an abomination who she was convinced if you did ascend would become a God slayer. It was not a risk worth taking. As such Shadowheart while following Shar can not heal you. That doesn't mean she doesn't try.

As your spells evolve more and more, as you rewrote what magic could do the gods grow more fearful. Aside the few who found joy in the chaos you caused or your sweet demeanor.

I'm still only on Chapter 13, but I'm convinced Cloud is becoming Sephiroth. Unlike the original game, we have yet to see the *real* Sephiroth. He's a spector in everyone's memories, and key moments that prove he is still alive are altered slightly (The one I specifically recall is Midgardsormr. In the original you find him impaled, but in the remake you fight him, and Cloud envisions Sephiroth killing him, but no one else sees it.)

Now admittedly I don't fully recall Remake, so I can't recall if we ever truly see Sephiroth in it. I know we fight a version the Whispers create, but the Whispers, or at the least the black ones, are hellbent on making sure history/fate repeats itself. Sephiroth must summon meteor to try and destroy the world, Aerith must die, and Sephiroth must be stopped . BUT if Sephiroth is dead in this world, dead before he is "meant" to be, then they need a new Sephiroth. So they're grooming Cloud to effectively take his place. Maybe Cloud being a hero isn't a necessary part of destiny, so instead they make him the villain.

Cloud also keeps losing his cool, and mercilessly killing people after the fight is over. Not even in a "This sucks and has to be done" way, but in a "All my enemies deserve death." Kind of way.

ANYWAYS just spitballing, depending on how the rest of 13 and 14 go I may be full of shit lol.

Uhhhhh potential Smash moveset for Alear Fire Emblem Engage cuz it's been in my brain for weeks and I want it out

The gimmick is that they use emblem weapons and powers.

They have two movesets, the default one is with close range weapons (sword, axe, spear), and by pressing the special button while shielding, they switch to using fists, magic, and bows.

First moveset:

Neutral special: Override-Similar to Ike's Quick Draw, Alear lunges a long distance with Sigurd's Ridersbane, but can pass through enemies and damage shields

Side special: Quadruple Hit-Uses Leif's light brand in quick succession, works like Marth's Dancing Blade, but launches Alear far up as the last strike, to reference Leif's crit animation in Thracia; can use this for recovery

Up special: Twin Strike-Summons Ephraim to do a two hit move that can have variable directions akin to moves like Pikachu's Quick Attack, Sora's Sonic Blade, and Bayo's Afterburner Kick.

Down special: All for One/Bonded Shield-A dual use move like Palutena's Reflect Counter. All for One summons illusory copies of Alear to strike on both sides, counterattacking melee moves. Bonded Shield is a reflector for projectiles.

Ground moves: Standard sword jab if you press with regular timing, but if you mash, Alear summons Sigurd's Brave Lance for a spinning multi hit; All tilts and the dash attack have Alear slash with Lucina's Noble Rapier, with a tipper mechanic to reference effective damage;

Aerials: Neutral Air, Back Air and Up Air has Alear strike with Liberation, but Forward Air and Down Air uses Leif's Killer Axe, with both having high damage and potential meteor smash

Smash attacks: Forward Smash is a standard slash down in front of Alear with their Liberation; Up Smash is Ephraim's Siegmund stabbing up with pillars of flames rising on both sides as well; Down Smash is Eirika's Sieglinde, summoning thunder with sword strikes on both sides

Second moveset:

Neutral special: Mulagir/Astra Storm-Press once for a standard arrow, but press and hold for multiple stronger arrows fired all at once. Arrows can be guided and the bow can be aimed up as well.

Side special: Thani-A leading projective attack like Palutena's Explosive Flame, but with pre-emptive light attacks beforehand like Sora's Thunder magic.

Up special: Warp Ragnarok-Appear like a simple warping move, but has an initial hit before warping, after which you can do two things. You can tilt in a direction to move to your desired location, like most Smash warping moves, or you can press the b button again to home in on enemy's location for an explosive fire attack

Down special: Goddess Dance-Improves stats akin to Shulk's monado arts or Wii Fit Trainer's deep breathing.

Ground moves: Inspired by the arts in Engage, using close combat punches, kicks and energy bursts. Has a standard jab combo, but can turn into multi hit combo when mashed, and ends with Celica's Seraphim as a projectile finisher

Aerials: Aerials infuse punches and kicks with Micaiah's Shine magic, being good combo starters

Smash attacks: Just standard martial arts inspired Smash attacks, though the forward Smash takes direct influence from Alear's crit animation with Arts in Engage

Final Smash: Engage Blast with their Emblem form, cuz Smash doesn't care about spoilers as evidenced lol

Alt Costumes: Male and Female Alear variations, with standard colors, an Alfred and Diamant variant for M!Alear and a Timerra and Ivy variant for F!Alear. The last two costumes has them in their past Fell Dragon color scheme (I'd personally also have them be voiced like their past selves, that'd be neat)

I made this moveset idea with the intent of specifically referencing 8 of the 12 base game emblems. Sigurd, Leif, Eirika/Ephraim and Lucina for the weapons set, and Lyn, Micaiah, Celica and Byleth for the magic/arts set.

This leaves Marth, Roy, Ike and Corrin for standalone fighters alongside Alear, maybe with Robin too? Idk, all this is just my head brainstorming stuff

Fics that made me cry: The one fic that had any angst in it, Shattered Remains. Writing it felt really good. I loved it. But it did also make me very emotional.

Fics that made me smile: I don't really remember anything but the one fic that literally cracked me up every single time I attempted to read or edit it. Keepin' You Hangin' On The Telephone. My fiancée and I (jokingly, at first) tried coming up with absolutely ridiculous euphemisms for the vulva and vagina and after telling @wilfriede about it, they made me keep every single one of them. Without tagging the fic as crack, or warning people about it. And, honestly? It was kind of a blast. People liked it despite the horrendous euphemisms, and we three got a huge kick out of it and laughed about it for ages lol.

He's also just miserable at doing a decent knot so you've taken to teaching him repeatedly how to tie them-

next up for ffvii character pokemon teams is our favorite local florist

unlike everyone else so far, I had double battles in mind for aerith's team. as always, though, I designed it mainly for the aesthetic and would never expect to win using this team lol. details under the cut

aerith is a recolor of an aroma lady sprite. it all works so perfectly. the skirt. the flower association. me being able to turn the aroma particles into lifestream

species: audino

ability: healer

item: focus band

moves: last resort, wish, heal bell, protect

this is depressing. oops! there's nothing super specific about the combination of audino and ifalna. audino is a healer pokemon and that just seems suited to aerith.

the item and moves, however, are deliberate choices for ifalna. focus band is not a good item to actually use, but it gives the holder a small chance to survive a hit (with 1 hp) that would otherwise defeat them. ifalna managed to survive long enough to get aerith down to the slums to safety even though she was on the brink of death. wish is a delayed healing move that will heal the active pokemon even if the one that used wish has fainted. the reason for last resort should hopefully be obvious.

item: adrenaline orb

moves: fake out, gigaton hammer, play rough, protect

while aerith has nothing to do with mold breaker's actual in-game effect, I thought this was fitting from the name alone. she generally is not associated with physical might.

the adrenaline orb doesn't mean a whole lot. I guess chairith happened during a stressful situation but that's really it.

fake out because of how aerith fooled scotch with her elaborate outfit, and then when he finally recognized her she kicked him in the nads and he couldn't move LMAO. gigaton hammer is, of course, the chair.

ability: leaf guard

item: rose incense

moves: giga drain, pollen puff, solar beam, sunny day

flower pokemon #1! and a lily at that. named after aerith's ultimate weapon.

leaf guard obviously goes along with the name princess guard. it works well with sunny day. rose incense just strengthens grass type moves but it was nice and thematic.

giga drain is vaguely like aerith's soul drain ability. pollen puff is a fun one, because it deals damage to enemies and heals allies, just like how aerith is incredible with both white and black magic

species: blissey

ability: healer

item: mystic water

moves: psychic, chilling water, life dew, healing wish

great gospel is aerith's ultimate limit break, and it's absolutely bonkers. full heal, all status cured, temporary invincibility... it's also how she cures geostigma in advent children iirc. blissey because aerith is offering us a nice egg in this trying time. also blissey has some angel aesthetic going for it, and great gospel's animation includes angels.

the reason for the healer ability should be obvious. mystic water because great gospel fall as rain onto the team.

chilling water and life dew for the same reason as the mystic water, with the bonus that life dew is a healing move. healing wish is... well you're going to hate me for this, but it's a self sacrificing move that fully heals the next pokemon.

ability: flower veil

item: weakness policy

moves: moonblast, stored power, calm mind, synthesis

ok so. I don't think the planet is ever referred to as gaia in any of the games. but it would be weird to name a pokemon "planet," so gaia it is. I chose specifically yellow florges for aerith's flowers.

flower veil is obviously because of flowers.

weakness policy is a fun one. the planet starts throwing hands (aka weapons) when it's in danger.

moonblast and stored power felt appropriate for holy and when the lifestream itself stops meteor. calm mind because it seems like aerith needs to pray to really commune with the planet. synthesis because the lifestream is the source of life

species: xerneas

ability: fairy aura

item: power herb

moves: moonblast, focus blast, light screen, geomancy

xerneas is able to create life. it's not EXACTLY what holy does, but I felt like it was close enough among legendary pokemon.

moonblast, focus blast, and light screen are all chosen to represent holy as it looks at the end of the game. that's really it tbh.

[2024.08.29] FS Life Extra - Yuzuru Hanyu PROFESSIONAL Season 2: Yamamoto Sota

I really admire his passion for the moment.

This year, they once again performed together on "Fantasy on Ice." What is the secret of the ‘aura’ that Yamamoto felt?

How was it to perform in "Fantasy on Ice" for the second time?

-First of all, I was very happy to receive the offer again, and since Hanyu-kun has done many solo shows, for this year's "Fantasy" he was only in the A tour. This time, I also participated in the A tour only, and I was able to learn a lot from him backstage and during the show, so it was really fun and I was very happy to be able to perform with him again. “Fantasy” is an ice show that I really love, and this year, many people came to see it, and the energy in the venue was truly amazing. The cheers when Hanyu-kun was going for the quadruple jump in the opening were incredible! Even before he reached the center position to start the opening choreography, by just entering the rink from backstage, the cheers were so loud it felt like my ears were going to burst. It’s the kind of excitement that you can only experience in "Fantasy", so it was a really special moment, and I think everyone had a great time and enjoyed the show.

What did you think of this year's opening and finale?

-The opening is usually a one-trick performance, and the choreography is almost the same each time, but the costumes are unique to "Fantasy". This time, the costumes exposed the shoulders quite a bit, which was quite innovative and fresh. For the finale, we had Nishikawa-san’s 'HIGH PRESSURE,' which

began with the men sitting on the Roomba (mobile stage). The choreography effectively used the Roomba and I thought it was a very cool part. "HIGH PRESSURE" was truly a high-energy finale. No matter where you look, every moment was really wonderful.

Everyone looked like they were having a lot of fun dancing.

-That's right (laughs). I think it's rare for such a large venue to be filled to capacity, so the time felt really special, and it was an unforgettable experience for me too. I'd like to work hard this season so I can perform there again next year.

It was also fun to see Hanyu moving between the skaters in groups while dancing in the finale.

-That's right. The song ended right at the transition part, and I thought it matched the music really well. You could hear the cheers of the audience wherever Hanyu-kun went (laughs). It was a lot of fun, and when he came to our group, he danced like crazy to keep the excitement going (laughs).

You were in the same group as Javier Fernandez and the others.

-Yes. During rehearsals we were asked to split into four groups and that was the group I happened to be split into. Tanaka Keiji and the other Japanese skaters were in another group, so I was the only Japanese in my group (laughs). I wasn't sure if I could handle it, but when it was time for the show, everyone danced like crazy, so I think I was able to dance with enthusiasm too.

It looked like fun (lol).

-It was fun (lol).

Have you seen Hanyu's "Danny Boy" and "Meteor"?

-Yes, of course. First of all, the costumes for both "Danny Boy" and "Meteor" were really cool. I thought the costume for "Meteor" was really striking and glittering, very Gundam-like, and "Danny Boy" is a song that envelops you in a sense of tranquillity with just the sound of the piano, which he conveyed through the expression in his fingertips, jumps, spins, steps, and other elements. In the silence, you could hear the sound of edges and the sound of the ice being scraped, which was very refreshing. It was a program where you could even enjoy such details. There were moments when the track stopped, and you wouldn’t usually hear these sounds during the song, so being able to clearly hear the edge sound was something new and I thought it was really great.

You're not from the Gundam generation, are you?

-I'm not from that generation, but I've seen pictures on social media comparing the costume to the video clip, and I thought they looked really similar. I thought the costume looked really cool on its own, and it was amazing that someone could pull it off.

Apparently, it was self-choreographed.

-Ehh! Amazing! "Meteor" also has some mechanical-like movements... I'm sorry, I don’t know much about Gundam, but there were machine-like movements scattered throughout the beginning, and I thought the patterns of those movements were really beautiful. They matched well with Nishikawa-san's vocals, and I thought it was great how every part fitted the music perfectly. He did a triple axel at the end, and his jumps were also sharper, which was cool.

Every time, I feel the greatness of seeing it live

After watching it, is there anything that you would like to incorporate into your performance?

-I would like to incorporate it, but it's difficult at my current level (laughs). When I see him up close, I think, "Wow, he's really amazing." I mean, his greatness, his aura. I think I still have a long way to go to be able to show that kind of thing, and when I look back at my performances, whether it's exhibition programs or competitive programs, there are a lot of things I want to do better. First of all, I hope to hone myself and then, if there are elements I can incorporate, that would be great. Even in jumps, I'm not so good with the Axel, but when I see him jump the Axel at the end, I think I have to work harder. And the precision of his expression... I think that he can express himself skillfully in beautiful songs, and I think that kind of breathtaking expressiveness is unique to only Hanyu. It's true when I watch it on video, but I especially feel its greatness when I see it live at the venue every time. I would like to learn from him how to create an aura or atmosphere, his expressive ability, and his precise footwork, and I would like to be able to incorporate these things into my own competitive programs.

Where do you think that aura comes from?

-He’s serious about the moment. The passion he has for every moment is incredible. In the opening of Fantasy, everyone performs one trick at the start, and towards the end, Hanyu-kun jumps a quadruple toe loop. To his fans, Hanyu-kun’s quad toe loop might seem like just another jump (since he also performs other quads like the Salchow and Loop), but performing a 4T right after coming onto the ice and in the midst of deafening cheers must be incredibly challenging. What’s even more impressive was seeing him making the final adjustments in the backstage right up until the opening begins. Witnessing him manage all these aspects up close, I strongly feel the weight he is carrying and the immense pressure he faces. Despite this, his ability to always give 120% is truly admirable, and I want to learn from him. I think that such qualities naturally emanate as his aura.

Did you have a chance to chat with Hanyu this year?

-Well, during the actual show, everyone was focused on their own performances, but we had a chance to talk a little after it was over and at dinner hall. Apparently, Hanyu-kun does a lot of training, and he told me that there’s a sauna at the gym. He brought up this topic because I was there (laughs). I asked him, "Really? I'd like to go too. Do you use the sauna, Hanyu-kun?" and he said, "I'm not really keen" (laughs). Apparently, in the past, Tsuzuki (Shoichiro)-sensei would take him to the bath or sauna, but he said, "I'm not good with it." We had that kind of conversation, and I don't know what else. We were just talking about really trivial things. Last year we talked about skating quite a bit, but this year it was this kind of talk.

I would like to talk to you again if I have the opportunity.

What did you think of your own program, Yamamoto? This was the first time you did a collaboration this year.

-Well, last year I did two individual programs, but this year I finally got to do my long-awaited collaboration number. "Ich bin ich bin Musik" was the song that was sent to me by the organizers, and I felt that they prepared a program that suited each skater. My song was also very easy to express, and I think it was a musical program that allowed me to really express my emotions alongside Shirota Yu's vocals.

It was a really wonderful program that it's a shame it can only be seen on Fantasy.

-I'd like to perform it in various places too. I heard from Keiji-kun and (Miyamoto) Kenji-sensei that "if I get permission, I can use it." If there's an opportunity, I'd like to perform it again someday.

And how was your solo "Beat It"? There was a lot of cheering.

-Um, on the short side, like this...

The part where (the chest area of the costume) was exposed too much, right.

-Ahaha, right (laughs). There was a choreography that exposed the part a little, but I was happy to see everyone’s reaction to it, and this time there was a live broadcast and live viewing, so there was a camera (for broadcasting) there (laughs). The cameras were positioned to match the audience's viewpoint on screen, but in fact they were quite low down. So, during the live broadcast, I made an effort to appeal to those cameras as well. People who watched said things like 'It felt like we made eye contact,' and it was fun for me too.

What did you gain from this year's "Fantasy"?

-After all, ice shows are entertainment that is different from competitions, and although I am still an athlete, I want people to enjoy such events as entertainment. There are many different ice shows, and I want to do my best as a member of each show. I was able to learn a lot from Hanyu-kun and the other skaters at "Fantasy" about various expressions, how to engage the audience, and how to liven up the atmosphere, and I also realised the importance of being aware of the audience in different areas, like the upper sections of the venue or at live viewings. I am learning more and more every year about how to express myself and liven up the show so that people can enjoy themselves.

Please give a message to Hanyu-san.

-I've always been shy, and since it’s an ice show, it's hard for me to find the courage or timing to speak to you directly, but this time I'm going to excuse myself (laughs). I really wish to communicate and talk to you more, and I was really happy to be able to work with you again in this year's "Fantasy", and although it was a really trivial conversation, I was really happy to be able to talk to you. If I'm invited back to "Fantasy" next year, or if we have the opportunity to work together somewhere, I hope we can have lots of fun conversations about trivial things, saunas, about myself, and skating. If there's another ice show this year, I'd like to go see it if I get the chance, so I look forward to seeing you then. Do your best! I look forward to working with you again!

And please give a message to your fans. -I was able to appear in "Fantasy" again this season, and I was able to learn a lot about how to express myself to the audience, how to direct my gaze, facial expressions, and so on. I hope that the expressions conveyed in “Fantasy” will be reflected in my competitive programs as well. No Hope No Defiance - The first guitar riff immediately made me think of the Sonic Unleashed opening LMAO. This is probably one of the most punk songs I've ever listened to; definitely a song the band would play! I could imagine they wrote this right before Meteor (there ain't no future and there ain't no hope) but then everything was fine and they were like. Oh. Oh well

Plastic Bag - FEMALE VOCALS RAHHH!!! Go Astrid (the only female member of the band lmao) !!!!

The Day The World Turned Day-Glo - Mmmm crunchy guitar. And the saxophone. Absolutely delicious. However now I have to choose which band member would know how to play a saxophone hmmm

Night of the Demons - THE GUITAR AT 1:56 IS SO FUCKING GOOD RGYHGRRUGH. This definitely sounds like a song Kadaj would write because of how grungy it is. He's a sucker for aggressive, rough sounding songs

Ghost - My first thought was "ooh echoey guitar" and them BAM. holy shit. I love songs that throw you for a loop at the very beginning lmao. I didn't have the time to listen to the other Plastic Tree songs as I was writing this but I will definitely give them a listen another time.

Church of No Return - Something about that echo-chamber effect they put on vocals in goth songs just Hits man. I don't necessarily see the band doing such a Goth-y song but I do REALLY love the song.

Ma Cherie - MA CHERIE... AARE YOU MISSING ME!!!!!!!!! DUDE I LOVE MALICE MIZER SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA. I would be lying if I said I didn't have a few Malice Mizer songs on the playlist for the band (namely Gekka no Yasokyouku and Illuminati)
