The Journey - #100DaysodCodeChallenge.

Is there ever a time you sit and ask yourself "Maybe it's time for me to start something new?". Maybe you're just like me and you're working in a company that isn't supporting you in the way that you thought. Let me start by speaking for both of us. There is so much more to life than what we are doing with ourselves at this moment in time. We have a way better opportunity waiting for us; granted we take it. For context I've been working in the retail industry since I was 17 and although I had a lot of experience to take away from it. I can't help but feel like I'm wasting away by remaining in my current position. It goes without saying that I need to reconsider my career path.

A few months ago I thought about what career could align the best with my vision and who I want to be once I made it there. I thought about my passion projects, living situations, financial freedom, work-life balance, etc. I needed something that is going to push me as a creative person, challenge my critical thinking skills, and act as a foundation for me to be able to build off of. That's when I decided that learning how to code was going to be a great fit for what I wanted.

So what is this post about Jay?

This post is a call to action. Today will be the beginning of my journey of becoming a web developer. In my spare time, I take photos and have been trying to get a solid portfolio set and stone. The only problem is... I can't code or design a website to save my life. This is a perfect opportunity to learn how to utilize coding and design as a way to start some kind of a media business. Code being the backbone. Media and Production are at the forefront. Before I can tackle that I have to gain as much knowledge and experience as a developer. I came across a post on Reddit about a 100-day coding challenge. This is a way to learn code efficiently whilst also engaging with a community of programmers to help better your skills.

How will this challenge work? What benefit will you get from it?

Every day I will post about my progress and what I'm working on for 100 days. I will start from the very beginning with HTML and work my way up into Javascript. Where I can hopefully start developing websites and web apps. The challenge is that I have to learn a programing language and write code for an hour each day. After the 100 days, I will recap my journey with a short film talking about the problems I faced, how I solved them and what I learned.

To summerize.

I'm taking this journey to be able to learn how to code, develope a personalized website, start a media buisness off of what I've built and ultimately change the direction of my career path.
