mr. jazz hands | michael robinavitch x reader
Warnings: medical inaccuracies
requested: yes :)
There's a reason why you didn’t go into the healthcare field.
Whenever you absolutely had to be around needles, such as for vaccinations or blood drawn, you always prepared beforehand. you always went with someone, usually a friend, but never ever alone. and you always always had airpods. you would plug them in your ears, play your favorite song, and close your eyes, never asking for a countdown, a countdown always made it worse, and never looking as the needle went in
so needing an IV, unexpectedly, was your worst nightmare right now.
you didn’t have anyone here to provide that comfort you needed and you most certainly didn’t have your airpods. you were brought into the ER after you passed out, but you woke up in the ambulance just in time to stop them from putting a needle in your arm.
“Ma’am, dehydration caused you to pass out. It’s standard to give fluids through an IV” the paramedic explained
“I understand that, and I’m not trying to be difficult, but I don’t do needles, can’t you just give me oral fluids or something?” you try to compromise. Next thing you know, you had arrived at PTMC and your stomach dropped.
“29 year old female, passed out after running a 10K, regained consciousness en route and has refused an IV” the paramedic reports to dr. langdon.
“y/n?” robby asks as he spots you from the nurse’s station
“You two know each other?” dr. langdon asks as his eyes dart between you two, holding back a smirk when he realizes that oh yes, robby definitely knows you.
“I got it from here dr. langdon” robby says as he takes over as primary physician. Once you’re settled in the room and after looking over your chart he says, “sweetheart I’m sorry but you need an IV” knowing you don’t do well with needles
“Nope, no chance. I don’t even have my airpods” you shake your head and he sighs.
“y/n! Good to see you again. Wish it was under better circumstances” dana says as she walks in and dons gloves. Her and robby figured it would help if the person inserting the needle was someone you knew
“Dana! Tell robby I’m fine and that an IV is just not necessary” you plead
“Sorry honey, but you need IV fluids” she says gently
“dana is the best, sweetheart, many many many decades of experience” robby tries to persuade
“careful, you’re making me sound old” she laughs, trying to put you at ease
“Fuck” you say under your breath, you were gonna be stuck with a needle today. Dana and robby both look at the screen as your heart rate shoots up to 115
“I need you to breathe baby” robby says softly and he grabs your hands in his, taking deep breaths for you to match with your own
Once your heart rate gets below 100, he gets this look on his face and starts doing the most randomest thing you've ever seen him do. He starts doing jazz hands.
“Robby, what in the world are you doing with your hands” you laugh
“Oh nothing, just do me a favor and indulge me for a minute” he says with a smile that melts your insides. With what he sees everyday, the moments are few and far between where you get to see him silly like this.
He starts waving his hands to the other side and you've never been more confused in your life until you feel a sharp needle stick you and your mouth drops as you look at dana in betrayal, “that wasn’t nice I thought we were friends” you say as tears well up in your eyes as you try to take a deep breath to not pass out again. Dana works quick, you’ll give her that.
“You did great sweetheart, you’re all done” robby says as dana connects the IV to fluids
“I’ll come back in later to check on you, okay?” dana says on her way out and you give her a nod in response
“You traitor” you say as you narrow your eyes at robby, but give him a small smile so he knows you’re joking
“I know, I’m sorry” he says, giving you a kiss on the forehead.
“I’m totally getting you back for that, by the way, mr. jazz hands” you add with a laugh
“Okay, baby, okay” he chuckles

Etta James - At Last 1960
"At Last" is a song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the 1941 musical film Sun Valley Serenade, and was performed in the film by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, with vocals by John Payne and Lynn Bari, dubbed by Pat Friday. It was deleted from the film, although instrumental versions remained. The vocal version was however included in the 1942 movie Orchestra Wives, which also featured the Glenn Miller orchestra. It was sung by Ray Eberle and Bari, again dubbed by Friday. Glenn Miller and his orchestra recorded the tune several times, with a 1942 version reaching number two on the US Billboard pop music chart. It spent a total of 17 weeks on the chart.
In 1960, rhythm and blues singer Etta James recorded an arrangement by Riley Hampton that improvised on Warren's original melody, for her debut album At Last! (1960). In April 1961, it became her second number two R&B hit single and crossed over to pop radio, reaching number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite its modest pop chart standing, the song is well-known and is still played regularly on oldies radio stations and has become a musical standard. Following James's death in 2012, the song reached the top 40 in the UK charts. In 2009, her version was inducted to the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry. In 2021, it was ranked at number 115 on Rolling Stone's "Top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".
"At Last" received a total of 81,3% yes votes!

At least one (1) work in progress picture should be sent in with your final illustration.
For consistency’s sake, keep faces to a minimum (You can have eye(s) or you can have mouth(s) but don’t have both in a humanoid arrangement.)

Some things I’d like to remind this fandom concerning Daemon and Daemyra:
It’s often the same old “Daemon didn’t have interactions with his children or with Rhaenyra” or “We don’t know how they felt about each other”
But remember this: GRRM wrote an entire novella, The Rogue Prince, which was published in 2014, embedded in F&B, centred around Daemon. Precisely because he wants us to understand the character, his arc and his role in the narrative. Writing a short novella is more practical because F&B is excessively plagued by the narrators’ editorialising and the conflicting, biased sources
We see that Daemon is constantly at the centre of attention. Whether he’s seen in a positive light or not, everyone knows where he is, what he’s doing and what he’s saying, and YET, he remains mysterious at the core. In short: all eyes are on him, for better or worse
So when he finally marries Laena in 115, a woman he actually wanted, and becomes a father for the first time in 116, you notice that he starts being more composed, you could even say that he matured
And then he marries Rhaenyra in 120 and poof: nothing. The man practically vanishes from the text
And that’s the point!
The novella fleshes out how Daemon’s one true love, desire and goal is to have a true family. As much as he loved his brother, let’s not forget that Viserys is responsible for Mysaria’s tragic miscarriage, a child Daemon made it clear that he wanted. Baelon and Alyssa were long dead, Otto hated him and did everything to create distensions between the two brothers, and he was married to a woman he didn’t love at all… Daemon had no true place in the world. No real role and we know how much he craves serving a purpose. Serving his FAMILY. That’s how The Rogue Prince starts: he’s marginalised and deep down, he’s lonely
Daemon was a man who attracted everyone’s attention, always present in conversations, always reviled or loved. He was seen in whorehouses and rat pits. Everyone knew him without understanding him
Yet suddenly he disappears, marries his third and final wife, and has two children that were technically useless in terms of politics and very low in the line of succession. He even almost had a third child seven years after Viserys was born. He was 48, Rhaenyra 32. They already had seven children between them. And Visenya was clearly very much awaited. He loved being a father and a husband, explains why he was apparently still enthusiastically active even at his age, if you know what I mean…
When Daemon built his family, he let go of his old roguish ways because he finally found purpose: with his children and his wife. As Rhaenys said “Dragons thrive best on Dragonstone”. It’s obvious this was GRRM’s way of pointing out that Daemon and his family actually thrived, not just the dragons. They literally multiplied. Syrax kept laying eggs. I mean it’s RIGHT HERE lol. Really don’t get why everyone misses that (or chooses to miss that…)
The fact that we know so little about their life on Dragonstone is actually very telling. Because the small details we do have say everything. That’s why I just cannot understand those who claim book Daemyra had “less depth” than Daemon and Laena for example, or show! Daemyra itself. They spent ten years together, what more are you asking for? They were safe on Dragonstone, away from the Greens who bullied Rhaenyra and her children at any occasion. This was a life of freedom and fulfilment. They were the closest to their Targaryen heritage and the power of their own blood. We barely hear from them because they were too focused on their little lives. Meanwhile we hear how miserable things are at King’s Landing
I’ll also point out how their children loved each other. The twins were inseparable. The Velaryon boys admired and loved each other. Jace was the one who made sure his younger half brothers were safe during the war. Baela was fiercely protective of Aegon when he became king. Rhaena called him her “beloved brother”. Aegon and Viserys were basically one soul in two bodies. Jace was considered a worthy heir, his little brother Viserys was literally compared to Jaehaerys I, Aegon worshipped his half brothers…
Mind you these kids had at least four different parents, probably five if you count Harwin 😭 That’s precisely because not only did Daemon and Rhaenyra raise good children, they raised them with love
And that’s how The Rogue Prince ends: he finally found his place in the world: with a family he built for himself. He was heir to nothing. Laena was heir to nothing too, so they had nothing to give to their girls but love, yet he was canonically a girl dad. Rhaenyra, while heir to the Iron Throne, already had three sons. The twins were betrothed to those boys. Baela and Rhaena transformed Daemon: Aegon and Viserys cemented that transformation. Visenya would have been the apogee, the crowning point of that life…had Rhaenyra not been usurped
That is when, and only then, Daemon started to waver in his stability. The only reason he returned to his fatal flaws was because he was grieving, not because his marriage was unfulfilling or shallow
That’s why the progressive estrangement between Rhaenyra and Daemon after the Fall of King’s Landing is so heartbreaking in hindsight:
They had everything they ever wanted: Rhaenyra and her sons were finally safe from the Greens and their suffocating influence, she finally had a husband of her choice, Daemon found the stability he needed to raise his daughters, Rhaenyra ruled Dragonstone on her own right, the kids were, as we well know, good and brave and loyal kids. Everyone valued one another. But everything was taken from them. And while Rhaenyra and Daemon died five months apart, and their deaths interestingly mirror each other, they still couldn’t quite reach one another. It’s the tragedy of these parallels: it wasn’t natural for them to be separated, it wasn’t RIGHT. They weren’t made for that
And yet I find that the reunion between Viserys and Aegon actually represents how Daemyra never truly died, and how their love persisted over time, it passed on to the people they loved the most: their children. Aegon and Viserys ruled together. They trusted each other blindly. They were the brothers Daemon and Viserys I never managed to be because of the external pressure. Aegon and Viserys were sons of the realm’s delight and the Rogue Prince, they grew up seeing their parents love each other. That gave them a fierce sense of loyalty. The same is true for Baela and Rhaena: let’s not forget that it was Baela’s husband, Alyn, who brought Viserys back. She and Rhaena introduced Aegon to Daenaera so that he wouldn’t be used for the benefits of some greedy Lord. They watched closely over their little brother
And the way Baela’s characterisation is so intertwined with Daemon’s own shows just how much of an influence their parents had. The children idolised their parents. Baela was basically her father reborn, she was the best of everything he was. It provides us a more positive light on Daemon’s person, one that is depicted in a very subtle way. Probably why most people here are so blind to it, or don’t accept it
I’d say Daemon died because he loved his family too much, and couldn’t bear to watch it crumble:
He fulfilled his duty by killing Vhagar, but he abandoned another when he died without returning to his family, precisely because his accumulating grief, whether from physical or spiritual loss, had extinguished the joy within him. Yes I’m paraphrasing the book here
But even his duty to kill Vhagar was motivated by the love he had for his family. He didn’t go back to Rhaenyra because he thought he had lost her, because he had no idea of her situation: he didn’t know about Tumbleton, thought Aegon II was no threat, Sunfyre was out of the picture, Addam was still defending King’s Landing, Rhaenyra still had the Velaryon fleet, Baela was still safe on Dragonstone…
He didn’t “save” Rhaenyra because he had NO IDEA of what was going on. He didn’t think she needed to be saved. He thought she would be safe once Aemond was dead. He DID NOT KNOW. He could have never imagined what she would suffer in her last days
Again this is the tragic aspect of Daemyra: the miscommunication in a world where their strength was based on their deeply personal relationship, and their marriage of love and partnership. Once it fell down, they died within months of each other: I think this choice in the timing was deliberate on GRRM’s part to show that those two should never be separated, and when they were, they died without having ever said goodbye
That’s why GRRM wrote The Rogue Prince. That’s what Daemon is. Just think what you will with what you have…
EDIT*** see the discussion in the comments section for some clarifications about The Rogue Prince

The Stories and Symbolisms behind the Garden Codenames (2): Hemlock/Hypericum/Otogiri
[manga spoiler alert]
It has proved that there's A LOT to talk about Yor's codename (and how it's related to the Sleeping Beauty) in the first part, so here's part two which is about other codenames of the Garden assassins.
Basically we are introduced to three more characters who are affiliated with the Garden. We have learned that there is a hierarchy within the Garden. And we know that only one new character will be joining us in the new arc - Hemlock.

A. The origin of Otogiri
Hemlock is in fact not Hemlock in the JP version. His codename is 弟切 Otogiri, or hypericum in English. At first glance, it makes sense why the English version takes the liberty to change the plant. Hemlock is highly poisonous. It's easy to read and makes a better codename than Hypericum.
However, I don't think the English version should have taken the liberty. There are two things the English version has missed.
Ch.115
First of all, there's this story behind the name Otogiri, and the symbolism that comes with the story. The plant is named Otogiri 弟切: the brother[弟]-killing (or cutting [切]) plant. The name of the plant has its origins from a legend about a takajo 鷹匠 (the word is often translated as "falconer" or "hawk master") from the Heian Period 平安時代. There are two different versions of the legend but the main plot remains to be the same:
A falconer killed his younger brother for revealing his trade secret (that the otogiri could be used to stop bleeding hence it is used as a medicine for raptor's wound) to others.
Is it a coincidence that a "falconer" and his raptor appear in sxf? (Short Mission 16)
The spots on the yellow flowers are said to be the blood splattered by the younger brother, and therefore the flower language for the plant is "resentment" and "revenge". This is what makes a plant with high medicinal value ominous.
B. Themes and renewed symbolisms
Like the story of the Sleeping Beauty, this medieval folklore has its influence on modern pop culture. In 1992, a visual novel video game named Otogirisou was published by Chunsoft for the Super Famicom. (Now if you remember, Chapter 94 is also inspired by another visual novel video game, Banshee's Last Cry, also published by Chunsoft for the Super Famicom.)

Endo's tweet
If you compare the stories of the Sleeping Beauty and Otogiri (the video game), they share a common theme - as a revenge, a curse was placed; thus the people in the story tried hard to reverse the curses with love and kind wishes.

A scene in the game: "The flower language of otogiri is... 'revenge'."
In the Sleeping Beauty, the cursed object is a needle; in Otogiri (the game), the cursed object is a sword. Is it a coincidence that these objects have become the weapon of the assassins who use the names of the stories as their codenames?

Ch.116 and ch.2
C. Poisons and Medicines
The other thing the English version has missed is that Otogiri is, first and foremost, a medicine - the younger brother was killed because he had revealed to the others about the medicinal value of the plant. But the tricky part is, without the backstory or the folklore, otogiri or hypericum could totally be a harmless, highly medicinal herb. (Without war, is it possible that he could grow up as a person contributing to the society in a normal way?) And the irony is exactly that - for most of the English audience who doesn't necessarily have the knowledge about this Japanese legend, hypericum seems to be too harmless and even beneficial to be a codename for an assassin. So much so they have to change it into a plant that is highly poisonous.
But what if it's deliberate?
We have four codenames revealed: いばら姫 (Thorn Princess/roses), 弟切 (otogiri/hypericum), ぎんピー (gympie-gympie) and アザミ (thistle). Even if thistle as a plant is slightly toxic, gympie-gympie is considered to be one of the most poisonous plants - she's also the known poison expert in the group:
Ch.116
We expect the assassins to be dangerous. Naturally we would expect the codenames to be plants that have dangerous features, like thorns, or toxins. But we will also have to consider how the Garden sees them, or more exactly, how the Garden sees itself:
All of these plants are medicines. Even roses can be medicine. And yes, even gympie-gympie can be medicine.
Ch.29
I'm not saying that the Garden is righteous, but at least we have to understand that at least from their perspective, they are doing the right thing. The other hint we get is the title 剪定者, translated as "pruner" in the English version. To "prune" is not only to merely "cut off" things; it is to ensure a fruitful growth. There is a nurturing side in the action. That is exactly why it's equally important for them to be dangerous and to be "medicinal" at the same time - they didn't do it because they are blood-thirsty.
Ch.116
The idea of "the dose makes the poison" is universal. In Japanese there is this phrase "変毒為薬" - to turn poison into medicine. One would have to be very careful if they want to cure the nation with dangerous plants. You have to use them sparingly - one would not want to overuse them. This could be one of the explanations why Yor doesn't have as many missions as Twilight does. Interestingly, Endo has played with the idea of poison 毒 = medicine 薬 before.
Extra mission 2
See you all two weeks later!

The Bronze Targaryen - 6
Summary - The year 115 AC brings about many changes in Westeros.
Warnings - character death, childbirth, general HOTD warnings
The bed was cold when (Y/N) awoke. He reached out to where Rhaenyra was laying, only to find empty sheets. He groaned, burying his face in the pillow.
“I’m over here.” Rhaenyra said, hearing his movements. He mumbled into the pillow in response. “What was that?”
(Y/N) turned onto his back, “It is too early for you to be up.”
Rhaenyra stood, walking over to the bed. “It is nearly midday.”
“Oh.”
Rhaenyra sat down next to him on the bed, “Oh.”
He sat up on his elbows. “Why didn’t you wake me?”
She reached out, running her fingers through his messy hair. “You looked like you needed sleep.”
(Y/N) smirked, sitting up further and grabbing Rhaenyra, pulling her onto his lap. She yelped indignantly, smacking him lightly on his chest as he laughed. He pressed a kiss to her lips, and she smiled against his mouth. “I think we both need sleep.”
“That is not what I meant and you know it.”
He pulled back, “I am fine.”
“You have not been sleeping well,” Rhaenyra said. “You have been stressed since your cousins left.”
“I am just worried about my grandsire. He is not well.”
“And Gunthor.”
(Y/N) shook his head, “Do not worry about him.” Rhaenyra frowned, opening her mouth but before she could speak (Y/N) captured her lips in his. He pulled away, resting his forehead against Rhaenyra’s. “If you worry about him, I must worry about him. And I do not wish to, I want to just be here with you.”
Rhaneyra frowned, but nodded nonetheless. She untangled their legs, standing up and grabbing (Y/N)’s hand. “You should eat.”
He broke his fast as Rhaenyra’s handmaidens moved in and out of the room, helping Rhaenyra properly dress and leaving clothes out for (Y/N). Rhaenyra helped (Y/N) dress when she was finished. They did not leave the room after they were finished, they had not been asked to court since their wedding. (Y/N) did not mind the break from the court, allowing him to spend his days in the yard and with Harwin, checking on the knight’s wounds. Rhaenyra did not share his indifference, feeling like once again her father was neglecting her role as heir. She refused to listen to (Y/N) when he tried to soothe her worries, but (Y/N) could not blame her. The two heirs were in different situations and (Y/N) had only words to offer in ways of comfort.
Ser Erryk entered the room, drawing the attention of the two teens. “Prince Daemon is here to see you both.”
Rhaenrya looked to (Y/N) who nodded, before speaking, “Let him in.”
(Y/N) frowned at his father’s demeanor as he entered the room, waiting for the door to close behind him before opening his mouth to speak. “A raven came for you, (Y/N).”
(Y/N) gestured for his father to hand it over, and as his father placed the letter in his hand he said, “You must leave for Runestone at once.”
(Y/N)’s heart dropped, and he opened the parchment.
Prince (Y/N),
It is with a heavy heart that I write to you. Your grandsire, Lord Yorbert, Lord of Runestone, passed during the hour of the owl. He went peacefully, and he is with your ancestors now. I am aware you are in the first days of marriage, but with your grandsire’s passing you are now the Lord of Runestone.
Maester Pate
“Your cousins have not yet reached the Vale.” Daemon spoke. “If you take Vermithor you will get there to claim your seat before they even cross The Trident.”
“Claim your seat?” Rhaenyra looked between the two men, and (Y/N) handed her the letter. She read it quickly, eyes widening as she took in the words.
“You must claim your seat.”
“Uncle his grandsire has just died,” Rhaenyra objected. “Let him mourn, the politics of the realm-”
“This is not about the politics of the realm.” Daemon spat, turning to (Y/N). “This is about taking your rightful place before Gunthor learns about your grandsire’s death.”
Rhaenyra frowned, “(Y/N) is the rightful heir, Gunthor would not be so bold as to try to undermine that.”
Daemon gave his son a pointed look, and (Y/N) sighed letting his hand fall into his hands. He did not know his cousin’s intentions, he did not trust him, but a simple feeling did not prove anything. In fact he barely knew his cousin, having only met him half a dozen times in his youth, but the unfamiliarity only fuled his distrust.
He rubbed his face, groaning, “I cannot take that chance. I must leave for Runestone.”
Daemon nodded, “I will make sure your things are packed.”
Daemon turned on his heel, walking out of the room. Rhaenyra turned to her husband as soon as the doors were shut. “I am coming with you.”
“You must stay here-”
“You are my husband.” Rhaenyra stood, standing directly in front of where (Y/N) was sitting. “I should be at your side.”
(Y/N) sighed, reaching his hand out and Rhaenyra gently grasped it. He looked at Rhaenyra, “You are the heir to the Iron Throne. You are already uncertain of your place in this court. I do not know how long I will be at Runestone, but you cannot afford to be away from court for too long, not now.”
Rhaenyra scoffed, and (Y/N) continued, standing up from his seat, “I will fly to Runestone on Vermithor. I will secure my seat, our future child’s seat, and then when that business is done I will return to you.”
Rhaenyra cupped his cheek, bringing their foreheads together. “Take what is yours, and then return to me.”
“Lord Royce.”
(Y/N) looked up from the books he was looking over, placing down his quill. The boy standing at the door looked between (Y/N) and Maester Pate nervously, holding a piece of parchment in his hand.(Y/N) recognized him as the young page that had been attending to Maester Pate in the rookery.
Maester Pate cleared his throat, “Well, what is it?”
“There is a raven for Lord Royce.”
“Give it here.” (Y/N) waved the boy over. The boy placed the rolled up parchment on the desk. “What is your name?”
“Jasper, my lord. I mean- my prince.”
(Y/N) chuckled, “My lord is fine, thank you, Jasper.”
Jasper bowed, practically tripping over himself to run out of the room. (Y/N) picked the parchment up between two fingers, it bore the seal of House Targaryen. He’d received many ravens from Kingslanding in his absence, many from his father, the most from Rhaenyra.
He kept them both updated on the situation in Runestone. Not that there was much to update, Gunthor was still playing an active role in the governance of the keep, much to (Y/N)’s frustration. He had no real proof that the man was up to anything, other than his odd actions during his grandsire’s final months and the queasy feeling that settled in (Y/N)’s gut anytime the man opened his mouth.
He picked his dagger up off the table, carefully prying off the wax seal before unrolling the parchment and reading the letter.
Valzȳrys,
I hope you are well, and that Runestone is prospering.
I have been quite ill these past few weeks, the maesters could determine no cause. Until last week.
My maids were dressing me when Elinda pointed out that my dress did not lace as tightly as it had before, and that I had not bled since before the wedding. Immediately the maester was called, and it is Grand Maester Mellos opinion that I am with child. He estimates that I am in my second moon of pregnancy, and my father already suspects the babe will be a boy.
I apologize for not writing of the news sooner, but to tell the truth when I first heard the news, and even now, I am not sure how I feel. I am overjoyed at the idea of a child with the best features of us both, a future dragonrider, and the future heir to The Iron Throne. But my mother died on the birthing bed, and suffered long before then through countless unsuccessful births. I do not wish to die in a puddle of my own blood as she did. But despite my fears, I am happy with the news, as surprising as it is, and I hope that you share my feelings.
I think of you every night, and miss your presence by my side.
Olvie jorrāelagon,
Rhaenyra
(Y/N) read the parchment three times, dissecting every word written by his wife. He looked up at where Maester Pate was still standing. “Bring me my cousin.”
“Gunthor?”
“Gerold, Pate.”
The maester bowed, exiting the room, and (Y/N) sighed leaning back in his chair. He resigned himself to getting no more work done today, and started to put the books away. When Gerold entered (Y/N) did not speak, he simply handed him the letter and watched his cousin’s face as he took in its contents.
“I wish to return to Kingslanding.” (Y/N) said when it was clear his cousin was finished.
“Of course.” Gerold said. “I do not blame you.”
(Y/N) bit his lip, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Will you not be returning?” Gerold asked, taking in his younger cousin’s tense posture.
“What do you think of Gunthor?” (Y/N) asked, deciding it was better to be blunt than to beat around the bush. Especially if he wanted to make his decision.
Gerold paused, opening his mouth and closing it multiple times as if he was struggling to articulate his answer.
“Speak honestly, cousin. I will not fault you for your opinions.”
His cousin took a deep breath, “I do not know what to think.”
(Y/N) motioned for him to elaborate.
“I had not seen him in years until your grandsire fell ill. I wanted to write to you to tell you of his illness, since as his chosen heir it would’ve been your place to take over the responsibilities of Runestone. But your cousin Gunthor urged me not to disturb you.”
(Y/N) nodded, “Can I trust you, Gerold?”
“Of course.”
“I fear Gunthor may have ambitions above his station. I cannot prove it but-” He paused, unsure of how to continue.
“You do not feel comfortable leaving Runestone unsure of his intentions.” His cousin finished, and (Y/N) nodded.
“You must understand,” (Y/N) said. “I wish to see my wife, and help her through these times but I cannot in good conscience leave Runestone when my position is not yet secure.”
Gunthor frowned, “What will you do then?”
(Y/N) groaned, dropping his head in his hands. “Can I not send him away and be done with it all?”
“Sending him away will not stop him,” Gerold said. “It may just incentivise him further. It is easier to keep him close where you can watch him and those who may support him than to send him away to move in secret.”
(Y/N) sighed, looking up at his cousin and taking in his expression. Defeated, he leaned back in his chair, “I cannot leave can I?”
“I cannot tell you what to do, (Y/N).”
“Just-” (Y/N) closed his eyes, frustrated with the entire situation. He longed for Rhaenyra, wishing to be there to see her through her pregnancy. “Just be honest, Gerold.”
“No, you cannot leave.”
(Y/N) nodded, reaching for a blank piece of parchment and his quill. “Thank you for your counsel, cousin. Tell Maester Pate I wish to send a raven to Kingslanding with my decision.”
Rhaenyra would have to understand, securing his position was for the good of their future family. Their second child will inherit Runestone after him, and (Y/N) would stay for as long as he needed to ensure that.
Rhaenyra’s labor had begun only hours after (Y/N) had set foot in Kingslanding. Viserys and Daemon had been thrilled at the news, but Rhaenyra’s fears of the birthing bed had not at all ebbed throughout the many moons of her pregnancy. (Y/N)’s absence from court during those moons had not helped her trepidation, but as the labors started (Y/N) assured her he would pick her over any babe.
(Y/N) was not allowed in the birthing room despite his protests, after a particularly rough scream tore itself from Rhaenyra’s throat (Y/N) had pulled his dagger on one of the guards, which subsequently caused his father to drag him even further away from the room.
His father and Ser Harwin were watching the young Lord of Runestone as Rhaenyra’s screams and curses echoed throughout the halls. Daemon was silent, wincing at his nieces wails every so often, while Harwin had taken to whispering words of comfort to (Y/N).
“She is strong.” Harwin said, hand resting softly yet reassuringly on (Y/N)’s shoulder.
“Cunt!” (Y/N) chuckled softly at Rhaenyra’s words, and Harwin smiled.
“See.” Harwin said, “She is doing well.”
Footsteps sounded down the hallway, (Y/N) looked over to see King Viserys and Queen Alicent approaching the group of men. Alicent was holding her own swollen stomach as she approached and (Y/N) was reminded that she too was soon headed toward the birthing bed once again. Alicent frowned at Harwin, and (Y/N) narrowed his eyes at the young queen.
“Ser Harwin,” Alicent addressed the knight, “Does Rhaenyra need her sworn protector-”
“I wished him to be here.” (Y/N) cut her off, and she looked at him, frowning.
“Of course.”
Viserys paid the three of them no mind, he looked exhausted. (Y/N) had heard from both Rhaenyra and Daemon about the king’s deteriorating health these past moons. The letter had given no justice to truly how bad Viserys looked, although he still insisted on acting as if he was alright.
“How is she?”
“Well,” (Y/N) replied, “I think. They would not let me in.”
Viserys gave him a sympathetic look, as the cry of a babe captured all of their attention. (Y/N) pushed himself quickly off the wall rushing into the room, Daemon and Viserys following closely behind him.
Rhaenyra lied in bed, face pale and covered in sweat, her normally perfectly styled hair was messy and sticking to her skin. She lifted her head at the sound of people entering the room, smiling and relaxing at the sight of her husband. The maester handed the babe, wrapped in a deep brown cloth, with a mop of dark curls peeking out, to (Y/N).
“A boy, your grace.”
(Y/N) stared silently at the babe, still crying although slowly but surely calming, (Y/N) looked up to Rhaenyra, who the midwife was attending to. He traced his son's features gently, fearful of hurting the precious bundle. He had not understood the fear his father spoke of until the babe had been placed into his arms, and he remembered that Daemon had been no older than he was now when (Y/N) was born.
“He’s perfect.”
Viserys and Daemon came up next to him, and (Y/N) remembered he was holding the future heir to the Iron Throne. He gently handed the babe to his uncle, and he smiled, allowing his brother to peer at their grandson over his shoulder. “What is his name?”
(Y/N) looked to Rhaenyra, “Whatever you wish.”
Viserys handed the babe off to Alicent, whose frown deepened. Daemon spoke before Rhaenyra, “He should have a name fit for a king.”
(Y/N) shot his father a dirty look, already knowing that his father was implying his son should not have a Vale-like name. “Rhaenyra labored to bring our son into this world, she shall pick whatever name she wishes.”
“Jacaerys.” Rhaenyra said, motioning for the babe to be brought to her. (Y/N) took the babe from Alicent, her expression making the Lord of Runestone uneasy. He handed him to Rhaenyra, pressing an affectionate kiss to the top of her head, and Rhaenyra laid down head resting on (Y/N)’s side. “His name will be Jacaerys Royce.”
Alicent did not linger around any longer than she needed to, exiting the room as soon as attention was on Rhaenyra. Viserys gave his daughter a kiss on the forehead before following after his wife. Daemon lingered the longest, looking adoringly at his grandson. (Y/N) had feared his father’s reaction to his son’s more Vale-like features, but Daemon did not seem to mind.
“Congratulations.” Daemon smiled, pressing a soft kiss to both of their cheeks before taking his own leave. “I will fetch someone to clean the sheets and help you dress.”
Rhaenyra nodded her thanks before the two new parents were left on their lonesome. Rhaenyra, wincing, sat up further, handing the bundle off to (Y/N). (Y/N) smiled down at Jacaerys, tensing when the babe opened his eyes, big and brown, but instead of breaking back into sobs he just stared up at his father. (Y/N) reached down, smiling softly as the babe grabbed his finger placing it in his mouth.
“I think he is hungry.” (Y/N) chuckled. “Shall I fetch a wet nurse?”
Rhaenyra nodded, and (Y/N) handed the babe back to her. He opened the door, looking at Ser Harwin who was still waiting outside the door.
“Would you like to meet him?”
“Him?” Harwin asked, and (Y/N) nodded.
“It is a boy.” (Y/N) smiled, “I am going to fetch a wetnurse, but I am sure Rhaenyra would be delighted to introduce him to you.”
As Harwin gingerly stepped into the room, (Y/N) tracked down a wetnurse. As he returned to the chambers, he took a seat by Harwin and Rhaenyra’s side as Jacaerys was handed off to the nurse. As soon as the nurse was out of earshot Rhaenyra turned to her husband.
“How long are you staying?”
(Y/N) frowned, “Nyra-”
“I will not beg you to stay, (Y/N). I know you will not.” Rhaenyra said.
“That is not fair. You know-”
“The complexities of politics are not lost on me, (Y/N).” She was obviously tired from her labors, but (Y/N) could tell he was not getting out of this conversation. “But what of our son? Will he grow up without you because you were too busy infighting with your cousin?”
“I am doing this for our son.”
Rhaenyra sighed, the fight going out of her at his comment. “Yes, I know- I just- I want Jace to grow up with a father.”
“He will.” (Y/N) promised. “But not until I am sure Gunthor will not undermine me at the first opportunity. I will return to you, I promise. And Harwin will be here watching over you both to make up for what I am missing.”
He turned to Harwin, who nodded a silent promise to the prince. (Y/N) took his hand in thanks.
“Did you see Alicent’s face when she held him?” Rhaenyra looked across the room longingly at where their son was now asleep in a cradle, the wetnurse long gone. “I am sure she is already spreading her poison.”
“Fuck Alicent.” (Y/N) spat, causing both Rhaenyra and Harwin to laugh. “She can spread whatever rumors she wishes, they will go nowhere. Our son is a Royce, he has Vale-blood, that fact alone will be enough to quell her whisperings.”
Harwin squeezed his hand in reassurance, bringing it up to press a soft kiss to its back. “I have missed you, (Y/N).”
(Y/N) smiled at the knight, before turning to his wife. “I do wish I could stay with you three.”
Rhaenyra reached for (Y/N). “We will pray for your success, ñuha jorrāelagon, and await your triumphiant return to us."

"they made greens worse in show to push blacks agenda" "they made blacks worse in show to push green agenda" truth is they made daemon and viserys worse and greens are now arouse sympathy and rhaenyra is made more soft and all that destroys mostly female characters and is for more drama and to push whole tg vs tb thing for bigger marketing while saying that's not what we supposed to do (season 1)
and yes, greens are worse in the books, making alicent innocent in the beginning and stating murder of luke as accident was to make them look better. and yes daemon was more "grey" character in the book, while in show almost every scene who was supposed to make him look like good father, husband or just vulnarable guy was cut out or belittled, his relationships make him look like bad guy - killing rhea, admitting to not fully loving laena, abusing nyra - instead of book!daemon who is against everyone but his family (except of green side), there's show!daemon who goes against his family or ignore its' members. and yes there are things when the greens are shown worse than in the books and black better than they were written
but changing ages of characters harms team black only. and since there's many changes of those and that's of many important characters it DOES make team black look worse and makes team green victims
1. alicent instead of being adult woman going against little girl (alicent 18yo and rhaenyra only 9) is now teenager sexually abused by viserys who is even older than her in the show than in f&b. being rhaenyra's peer - and her former friend - also changes the dynamic because now people claim rhaenyra caused break up of their friendship as if she wasn't just suffering 14yo. no, alicent is no more adult woman climbing for power and acting against child, it's a teenager abondoned by her best friend after being force into relationship with much older guy
2. jace, luke and dragon twins aged up - now in book it was 10yo aemond who attacked 3yo joffrey and then fought 4yo luke and 5yo jace*. in the show 11yo (according to s2 timeline) aemond is fighting four kids in the age from 8 to 10. so he doesn't attacks children at least 2x younger than him but is jumped by almost his peers. poor aemond, right?
*before someone say "jace was 6 and luke 5" - jace was born in late 114 AC and luke in late 115, meanwhile laena died at the beggining of 120 AC, which makes them 5 and 4 years old respectively
3. we don't have actual age of twins but looking at actors' ages, jaehaerys and jaehaera were 4, maybe 5 years old, tho in s1 they looked like toddlers. now it's not a big book to show change, 6 to 4yo, but it still look kinda worse to murder boy who barely stopped being a toddler than 6yo
4. daemon fell in love with laena when she was 22 (!!!). she wasn't a teenager. she wasn't also 12yo when offered by her parents to viserys. making her younger in the show made daemon, corlys and rhaenys look worse than in f&b (the only person who looked "better" - there's no good word for that i'm afraid - in that situation was viserys, who decided to marry 15yo and not 12yo. good for you, pedo?)
5. joffrey being 6yo with baby dragon makes rhaenyra look worse and like an oathbreaker. sending baby dragons to the vale instead of dragon who can at very least carry his rider doesn't look cool even though was funny for a second, because she technically didn't break her word, she DID send a dragon, even two, but that was a loophole
6. not exactly the same but - fabien frankel and matt smith' casting. i'm not saying they don't play their characters well or anything. that's not the point. the point is that fabien was born in 1994, matt smith in 1982 and milly alcock in 2000. there's 12 years age difference between fabien and matt but between cole and daemon is supposed to be only a year. now daemon is still called a groomer and cole is not because he is played by a guy only 6 years older than milly. and there are also people who now call him a victim and not rhaenyra
so yeah, i don't really wanna see anymore how much blacks look better in the show than in the book and greens worse... because that's not true. yeah, there are things done that make tb look a bit better but the show started with making the greens victims they weren't at all in the book and a lot of that has to do with ages changing
