WOO CIRCUS LIFE CLOWNS GATHER ROUND!!! well… no guarantee that zc will be free of angst forever (you know me and es), but we’re both definitely of the opinion that angst and conflict should stem from the characters and their choices / fears / etc, rather than just having angst for the sake of it. i think there’s something refreshing in that we’re looking at these pairings as the dynamics they are rather than like whether they are m/f or mlm or wlw or what have you, so the stories are truly developing from their specific dynamic rather than just shoehorning in rep for the sake of rep that leads to cheaper storytelling (we talk about this in regards to dasher as well, who hold the plate for being the typical supporting relationship but get to do that while also just being gay rather than being gay being their entire character / story. do you know what i mean?)

YES I ABSOLUTELY CAN. I’m a little bit proud of myself for this (slowly crafted) language, so I’m definitely happy to share it with you!!!

So Sysba’s language is called ‘Ioctaxari’; Lovecraftian lore—which the whole eldritch concept is based off of—has a language, but there are no firmly established guidelines for it so I said fuck it, I’ll do my own. Ioctaxari takes from Welsh Gaelic and older Germanic languages in order to make the terms that are often used.

In terms of naming, Elder Gods often own a name of their own choosing and a “true” name, such as the case with Sysba (going by Sysba, Moloch, etc) and their “true” name of ‘Ymnar. For Elder Gods, since time doesn’t exist, there’s no need to track it—but for Sysba, Florence, and Abraxas, staying on earth has made them adapt these habits so that, in the few cases they communicate to one another in Ioctaxari, the flow of conversation still works.

Ka lizimci Haramin Allah, don kuwa kai Shugaban larabawa ne, babu wani mutum da za a iya kwatanta shi da kai daga cikin mutanen Hijaz, kuma mutane ba za su taba amincewa da wani a matsayin shugaba in ba kai ba, za su zo maka ta kowani bangare. Kada ka rabu da Harami, Allah ya sanya baffana da kawuna su kasance maka fansa, wallahi idan har aka kashe ka, to lallai za a cutar da mu a bayanka(4)".
