Women’s Image Awards (WIN)

The Women's Image Awards are an international juried awards show that encourages men and women to create dimensional female media images.

By drawing attention and viewers to witness important and entertaining media, we encourage people to value, respect and honor women and girls.

​WIN is the only awards show that celebrates film and television created by men and women that advances the value of women. Investing in women is a uniquely powerful way to strengthen communities and economies. Gender equity fuels thriving economies; it helps women and their families, expands local economies, spurs economic growth, and widens the talent pool.

Women's Image Network, (WIN), is a 501(c)3 charity which since 1993 has collaborated with advertising agencies, fortune 100 and 500 companies and television networks and movie studios, to create The WIN Awards which honor deserving media and individuals in film, television, advertising, politics and business who promote gender parity through their creativity and leadership.

Women represent 53% of the world's population and make 85% of the purchasing decisions, yet according to the UN Development Fund for Women, women perform 66% of work globally and produce a full half of food globally, but women earn 10% of what men earn and own 1% of global property.

Just nine women lead countries, of the 190 worldwide heads of state.

Women make up 13% of all worldwide Parliaments.

In the corporate world women measure 15% of all workers ranging from C-level jobs to corporate board members.

According to the 86% of films have no female writers and 77% of film critics are male. This makes the movie industry highly imbalanced.

Since 1993 this charity has leveled the playing field for women and girls. Gender equality and women's empowerment are fundamental to our global mission which is also an economic and social imperative. Until women and girls are liberated from poverty and injustice, peace, security, and sustainable development are in jeopardy.

WIN works in concert with research, media advocacy and program implementation to promote gender parity. By celebrating dimensional female media images,WIN advances its mission to see women attain social and economic equality.

Why Louis loves touring via Zach Sang's TikTok (27 September 2022) x

Lou on Sang was one hell of a ride: Loves Zayn’s vocals, Li hate was denied; Weed’s good, ass tat’s bad; mesonfreddiemelad; Said he didn’t leak Home (but he lied).

Breaking the poetry wall to ramble about this interview (which was just too much for a few dozen syllables, but I tried). I like and respect Zach Sang as an interviewer. He listens to his subject, and while he has his questions and prompts prepared, he lets the conversation flow organically. And he doesn’t talk over people like fucking Zane Lowe. Louis thrives in those free-flowing, long-format discussions about music and creative process. I could listen to him endlessly. Which is why the forced babygate stuff stands out so sharply. The interview went hard on it. And here’s what I found especially sus:

Zach brings up seeing Louis perform in L.A. and is in the middle of waxing poetic about how Louis commands the room, when Louis very inorganically derails him specifically to bring up the kid (and goes all oBViOuSLy big-eyed). Stoner-brain Louis sure was quick with the knowledge that it was the Saturday night show where Zach and the kid would have overlapped. (I highly doubt Louis would be able to recall the day of the week for any other show on tour. He was prepared to get that in.) He goes on to mention very specific things to prove he knows dad details (like the kid’s bedtime). And he plays up the hero image thing again, which he did with the surfboard Christmas gift story, so now it’s a narrative. He goes into unnecessary detail to over-explain things (we locked eyes, which we could do because the venue is big but not too big ... ).

But what I can’t synthesize is that he says it’s the first time “me son’s gonna see me perform” (I get that he means live, but he makes it sound like the kid has no concept of what he does. His grandparents aren’t showing him videos? They didn’t let him watch the London livestream? For which his dad set a Guinness record? They didn’t crack him up with 800 plays of the fookin’-chicken-nugget clip?) and then that having seen a show, the kid now understands what he does (and that not everyone’s dad does what he does) ... But then he goes on to talk about how, like with his little sisters, his rock star life has always been normal to the kid. And those seem like contradictory statements.

And the very specific mention of taking the kid to the park with Oli, and then an unseen of that very occurrence turning up the same day the interview publishes?? It’s never not weird. I have no idea why they’re going so hard, or how they’ll ever end this mess, but it’s apparent that Louis will take the route of “He’ll always be a son to me.” And no mention whatsoever of megirlfriendeleanor. The ass-tat discussion sure would have been a convenient place for that, with all the talk of who sees it and “it’s not sexy” and “someone’s gonna love you for you.” ... Louis’ discussion of it was that of a man unattached. (Has anyone heard Chicago yet? Does he reference it in that song, or summat? Was this ass-tat knowledge seeding? Or was it just because Zach combed fan tweets and it’s a point of curiosity? It was an hour-long interview and I’m left with more questions than answers.)

Anyway ... back to five lines.

“Ohhh my god, you know what we haven’t done in forever?” Gem suddenly gasped, scaring Impulse and Pearl, who had been peacefully eating their breakfasts.

“What’s that, Gem?” Impulse asked kindly.

“GIRLS NIGHT!!!” Gem screeched, grabbing Pearl by the arm and shaking her. Pearl muttered several violent threats, as she was still half asleep and very much not a morning person, but Gem ignored her. “Ohhhhh my god that could be so much fun! Makeup and secrets and karaoke!”

“You should!” Impulse smiled warmly at her over his newspaper. “Do you want me to get you two some snacks or anything?”

“Oh, Impulse, didn’t you know?” Gem asked. “You are an honorary girlie… you’re doing Girl’s Night with us!”

Gem insisted that Pearl and Impulse meet at her castle later in the day, so she had time to prepare. Impulse didn’t really understand how much there was to prepare, but it wasn’t until he got to the castle did he understand.

Gem’s dedication to Girl’s Night was quite impressive. Gem had matching monogrammed pajamas for each of them. She had set out a buffet of snacks and drinks in one room of her castle. One room was entirely dedicated to pillows and blankets. And she had an itemized list of activities for the girlies to do.

“Okay, Impulse, please select your pillow weapons and armor.” Gem said.

“Pillow armor?” Impulse questioned, walking into the pillow and blanket room.

“Yeah, when Gem says pillow fight, she means we’re gonna hunt each other down.” Pearl replied, tying a pillow around her chest and picking up a long body pillow. “I usually win, by the way.”

And yes, indeed, Pearl did in fact win, in a dramatic conclusion where she chased Impulse and Gem down the entire length of Gem’s castle and tackled them to the ground. Impulse understood the need for the pillow armor.

——gossiping!——

“Okay, age old question, Impy.” Both girls looked at him expectantly, wine glasses I hand. “Which is the cutest block in Minecraft?”

“Bdubs.” Impulse said dreamily.

“Well I like birch, and not because- wait what?” Gem asked.

“Minecraft block, Impulse.” Pearl whispered.

Impulse turned bright red. “Oh! Yeah, uh, quartz. Quartz is a cute block.”

Pearl and Gem screamed in laughter, clutching each other as to not fall over in hysterics.

——truth or dare!——

“Okay, truth or dare, Gem?”

Gem giggled. “Omg, okay, dare!”

Pearl laughed very ominously. “Okay, I dare you to find Xisuma’s bedroom and shout ‘fuck’ at the top of your lungs at the foot of his bed.”

“Oh my god, Pearl, do you want her to die? It’s like the middle of the night.” Impulse gasped, a hand over his mouth.

Gem also had a hand over her mouth, but lowered it to give them both a stoic look. “I will do it, for it is Girl’s Night, and I honor the Girl’s Night truth or dare code.”

They found Xisuma asleep in his mega base, surrounded by bones. Impulse and Pearl stood at the doorway of his room, ready to run. Gem snuck up until she was standing at Xisuma’s bed, and took a deep breath.

“FUUUUUCCCCKKKK!!!”

“ah!” Xisuma jumped out of bed, or tried to, but instead got twisted in his blankets and fell into a pile of bones by his bed.

“RUN!” Impulse shouted, and all three scattered, giggling wildly.

——

They all woke up the next morning hungover and with a very grumpy Xisuma standing over them, arms crossed. And although they tried their best, they couldn’t girlboss, gaslight, gatekeep their way out of this one.
