it's kind of funny, honestly, what sort of elaborate routine i have to go through to get my ipad baby brain to work with me.
for the past year and a half, ive written Permission Slip all on one document. This is suddenly no longer working, because my brain is a cat who has just decided they will no longer eat this brand of dry food
So what I've done NOW is:
Tumblr media
One, smushed the next 3 chapters together into one entity temporarily, because One Is Less Than Three, Right? (sure, you room-temperature tapioca)
Tumblr media
Two, i've made documents that are just the scenes with the character groups, ie one document is just Gregory and Moon's scenes, one is Freddy's, etc.
Which I'm also writing in Notepad
This isn't even like, sorting now, this is just arbitrary shuffling.
But hey it's working, so.... yay?

excited about my journal / commonplace binder getting bulky-ish <3 ive done about 30 pages of commonplacing in there so far and swiftly had a crisis about potentially actually hating having it in there, but ive decided to wait until i bind the pages into a little book for archiving to see what i think. it'll be fine👍🏻

February portland budget!
I will try to remember to post the filled out version once I am done in a week.
How many people would be interested in a planner binder flip through?

I was gonna make a post about my ever-vexing search for a professional-looking padfolio to keep my medical binder/bullet journal in and my only options being twenty-dollar cheap things that look serious now but will look less serious in six months when the stitching starts unraveling, the pockets have to be held together with duct tape, the faux leather starts flaking off, and that's assuming the actual binder ring part are big enough to hold more than twenty sheets of paper, OR a sixty to one hundred dollar VERY professional-looking and so durable-looking* that I won't have to replace every year leather padfolio that's spacious enough for all the records and paperwork and accessories I need to carry...
... but then I realized I'm literally just rewriting Vimes Theory Of Boots
*also at this point in the history of hellish capitalism, the one hundred dollar durable-looking padfolio will also most likely fall apart within the year anyway, another phenomenon that has already been named and described more succinctly than I could ever put it: enshittification

Today's sewing: 3-ring binder pencil case
Came across this pencil case that hooks into a 3-ring binder this morning, and just had to make one. The vinyl was a bit scruncht from being crumpled up at the bottom of a box for the past decade or so, but all in all I think it turned out pretty well.
This project is beginner & budget friendly, using only a single fat quarter with matching thread, a 10-1/2" x 6-1/2" piece of clear vinyl, and a 10" zipper. The pattern is FREE and can be found here.

I love three-ring binders and use them for everything. They are a teacher's best friend! I use them for everything! But I recently discovered something new, and hoo boy, I was not ready.
I see the three-ring binder and raise you: Japanese binders.
youtube
The three-ring binder is the apex of book technology, by the way. All the advantages of a codex, plus you can add, remove, and reorder pages at will - pages which you can furthermore protect from damage in transparent sleeves, and store commentaries, notes, and other paratextual addenda behind them without obscuring the primary content. Truly the queen of codices. Reblog if you love the three-ring binder.

re lrb its extremely fucked up to me how bad my reading habits are. in elementary school i read so much. so much. i was on that warrior cats grind. when we read books together as a class i would get so far ahead for fun. and now the only books i can read without getting restless are manga. sort of for a lack of trying bc i constantly forget that books are like. an option. but i have tried some

Hello! I wanted to ask about your policies on fanbindings. I absolutely adore The Journal, and I'd love to have a physical version of it on my shelves. It would be a completely personal project, just for me, but I wanted to get your permission. Thank you & have a great day/night!
Hello!! Thank you for the love and thank you for asking!
I'm fine with personal fanbindings, so long as money does not exchange hands anywhere near my manuscript. I've seen some folks print fanworks for their personal collections via professional printing services--that's a no-go. But if you're doing it at home with your own resources, I'm fine with that.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!

Thank God that hand crank pencil sharpeners are basically phased out. Nothing more embarrassing than getting up to sharpen a pencil just for the class to watch you struggle with the crank for thirty seconds for a mostly sharpened pencil.
