Hey I have nothing better to do, here’s some fic recs for y’all!!
If you have followed me for any amount of time you know which one I’m about to lose my mind over—
Bloodletting by agentgenevra / @agentgenevra
Nancy is a vampire hunter… And also a vampire. Robin is a vampire. The plot of this fic is SO incredibly woven, I am NOT kidding guys. Every character has their place, and everything connects in just the coolest way. I’m literally obsessed. The slow burn dynamic between Robin and Nancy is incredible and full of tension as well! I am feral about this fic.
dancing in the moonlight by summersociety
Nancy is a monster hunter and Robin is a werewolf. This fic is the PERFECT mix of wacky and serious and I adore it for that. The tension is incredible, I would kill for the side characters, the internal struggle for Robin is so well written! The way this author writes for the werewolf in a different way is such a cool creative choice. This fic will have you crying over “aroo.” Just saying.
a never ending story by summersociety
Robin and Nancy play D&D and their in game romance definitely has nothing to do with Nancy having a big fat crush on Robin. Their dynamic in game and out of game is just so lovely and we love a little comphet Wheeler. Plus!!! This author just has some very poetic writing and I adore it
Raise Dead by EskaWrites / @eskawrites
Robin died in the Upside-Down. Nancy is grieving, but the kids are scheming. One (1) fic has brought actual tears to my eyes. I don’t usually cry over media but this one will pull at the heart strings. Go in knowing that this fic will devastate you, but it will fix you afterwards. I found myself holding my breath through some of the more intense portions, and the way this writer describes Nancy’s grief and uses symbolism just broke my heart.
you’re the reason that i’m hanging on by EskaWrites / @eskawrites
Robin gets Vecna’d. INCREDIBLE angst, I don’t want to say too much and spoil it, but the dynamics are wonderful and the ending is fantastic.
choke up (on my bat and on your heart) by gfbuckleyxwheeler / @werewolfxwheeler
As a bitch who didn’t think I’d be into sports aus, this fic!!! Ronance are on a softball team and they have a wonderful hate/love relationship and I adore it!! And Max and Chrissy are both lovely in this au <333 Em also has a wonderful blog here, please check them out!
feels like I’ve been gettin’ anointed (ever since the day that I met you) by khalasaar / @sapphicriley
Catholic school au with the partner project trope PLEASE. This one is spicy. The writing is incredible, the tension is fantastic, and also I think you can tell she writes/reads poetry in her writing, which I happen to think is cool as shit. Inappropriate use of religious imagery my beloved <333 Did I mention tension—
put me in the movies (on a king sized silver screen) by khalasaar / @sapphicriley
Robin works at a drive in theatre and Nancy keeps visiting her because she’s a dumb lesbian. This is one of my favorite fluffy, sweet stories, oh my god. They are so!!! I want to squeeze them. Their dynamic and their banter and Nancy being So Totally Smooth is the best. I need to reread this one
Handle With Care by ElFandomBirb / @el-fandom-birb
Centering around Robin thinking about love and her Handle with Care patch. Oh. My. God. The types of love actually killed me, this fic is so soft and so sweet. Repetition as a plot device!!! Seriously one of my favorite one shots. Also another great Ronance blog
400 Bones [series] by DearApparition / @anxiouswerewolf
You want to read some of the most delicious angst out there? Here you go. Ronance is messy and angsty but they’re there for each other and I could easily cry about any of the fics in this series
here and wherever you are by penguinwritesbooks
The Half Of It au. Steve recruits Robin to write love letters to Nancy. One of my favorite movies and my favorite ship lovingly rolled into one. Everything feels very true to the characters and the dynamics without being a scene by scene retelling!! There’s a Steddie sequel if that’s your thing

Ukraine is bracing for a grisly Russian offensive in the Donbas. Moscow has concentrated hundreds of thousands of troops in the country’s east, using brute-force tactics and human waves in a bid to chip away at the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defenses.
Amid a recent surge in fighting, many military analysts believe the long-awaited Russian offensive is already underway and is expected to accelerate as the first anniversary of the invasion approaches.
“Something is brewing in the east,” said Jonatan Vseviov, secretary-general of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “More and more Russian soldiers are arriving on the front,” he said.
Ukrainian officials estimate that Russian forces inside the country have surpassed the 300,000 mark following a recent mobilization effort that began in September of last year. Military analysts believe the figure may be slightly lower, but even more conservative estimates of Russia’s presence in Ukraine are significantly higher than the invading force that Russian President Vladimir Putin used to invade the country last February—and this time, they are highly concentrated in eastern Ukraine.
“We expect in the next 10 days a new, huge invasion,” a Ukrainian military official, speaking on condition of anonymity to talk about intelligence matters, told Foreign Policy. Over the weekend, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that he expects a surge in Russian operations around the upcoming anniversary of the invasion on Feb. 24.
As Russian forces contended with steep losses in the first months of the war, the Kremlin announced a partial mobilization effort in the fall to bring in about 300,000 new troops. Despite the chaotic nature of the recruitment drive and the lack of training afforded to new recruits, the mobilization effort appears to have been a crude success by deploying enough troops to stall Ukraine’s advance—albeit with devastating losses for Russian forces. U.S. and Western officials now estimate that close to 200,000 Russian troops have been killed or wounded in battle, the New York Times reported last week.
The new recruits are significantly less well-equipped and trained than Moscow’s initial invading force dispatched over the borders in February of last year. In many instances, recruits have been used to perform human-wave attacks, a tactic popular with the Soviet Red Army, moving across open ground while coming under heavy fire from Ukrainian forces, said Dara Massicot, a Russian military analyst with the Rand Corporation.
Russia’s brute assaults, while not the most sophisticated, have taken a toll on the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which now has to contend with a much denser Russian presence. “A lot of those ingredients that were present that allowed successful Ukrainian counteroffensives up in Kharkiv, those ingredients are no longer present. The lines are thicker. They’ve mined them. They’ve dug in,” Massicot said.
Russia has also begun arming up and digging in for a coming offensive. The Ukrainian military estimates that Russia already has 1,800 tanks, 3,950 armored vehicles, 2,700 artillery systems, 810 Soviet-era multiple-rocket-launch systems such as Grad and Smerch, 400 fighter jets, and 300 helicopters ready for the new wave of attacks, the official said. The Pentagon has described Russian troops that have already been rushed to the battlefield to plug up defensive holes as “ill-equipped, ill-trained, [and] rushed,” according to a senior U.S. military official.
Some European officials believe that Russia’s mobilization never truly stopped after the September call-ups by the Kremlin. “Mobilization has not ended,” Vseviov said. “Mobilization is now continuing in Russia, but continuing quietly. They’re not making a fuss about it because of domestic considerations.”
Karolina Hird, a Russia analyst with the Institute for the Study Of War, said there has been a continued trickle of reports that suggest mobilization efforts are quietly continuing. “We’re seeing continued reports of people getting mobilization summonses or, for example, employers, enterprises, getting lists of employees that they need to send to the military registration office.”
The Pentagon believes that the Kremlin has begun sending in tens of thousands of troops to replace losses suffered from ongoing battles in the Donbas towns of Bakhmut and Soledar, but Kyiv believes that Putin could go even further, drafting more new troops around the Feb. 24 anniversary of the full-scale invasion.
“It’s much bigger than what took place in the first wave,” the Ukrainian military official said. “They don’t pay attention to any casualties or losses on the [battlefield].”
While there are no signs that Putin is backing down from his overall goal of seizing Ukraine in full, analysts and Ukrainian officials expect the brewing offensive to focus on eastern Ukraine amid a surge in fighting in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
“It seems to me that there probably has been some Kremlin guidance handed down to [Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery] Gerasimov. I think that includes, if they can, proceeding to the boundaries of Donetsk and Luhansk,” Massicot said, referring to two of the four Ukrainian regions the Kremlin pretended to annex in September.
But the fear that even poorly trained Russian units could overwhelm Ukrainian lines with human wave-style attacks has led to more urgent calls for Western weapons from Kyiv, despite nearly $9 billion in U.S. military aid pledges to Ukraine since December—almost 50 percent larger than Kyiv’s entire yearly prewar defense budget.
Yet some of the key weapons put forward by the United States to withstand the Russian salvo of bullets and bodies—such as Patriot missile defense systems, Bradley armored fighting vehicles, and Abrams main battle tanks—might not get into the country until March or April, at the earliest. And ground-launched small-diameter bombs might not get to Kyiv for up to nine months.
While Moscow was already showing signs of stepping up its efforts in the Donbas, many analysts believe the Russian military is seeking to advance as much as possible before the arrival of that new slate of Western military equipment.
“I don’t know how we’re going to withstand this counteroffensive. It’s going to be extremely difficult,” said Sasha Ustinova, a Ukrainian lawmaker. “We don’t have enough rounds, or I mean—anything. The tanks are going to be later. Everything is going to be later. By the time they send us Abrams, we will already have seen how the Russian counteroffensive goes.”

Attracting, Recruiting, and Finding Models for an OnlyFans Agency
In this article, we will discuss how we managed to attract new models to an OF agency at $129 each.
Project Features:
An Australian OnlyFans agency that needed Asian-looking models with conversational English skills. The main criteria were: girls aged 18-26, with a cute appearance, and most importantly - petite. To quote the client: "The smaller, the better" 😂
Goals:
The cost per application should not exceed $5.
Sign at least 6 contracts with models.
The total contract cost should not exceed $400 (including our services and expenses, not just the advertising budget).
Funnel:
Creatives
We decided to test two launch options: in the girls' native languages with a note about conversational English proficiency and directly in English. What do you think worked better? We also felt that creatives in English would perform better and result in fewer junk applications from girls who don't speak English. Still, it turned out otherwise - either Asian girls are so responsible and proper, or it's just luck, but we didn't notice any difference in applications. The percentage of non-targeted applications was roughly the same in both cases, so we left it as it was.
We always create unique creatives for each project, experimenting with design and formats, as you never know what will show the best results.
Lead Form
There's nothing more convenient than a quick application form where we only ask for the girl's name and Telegram handle / WhatsApp number. In this project, there was no need to use a lead form with conditional logic, as there were no specific criteria to immediately filter out non-targeted applications. We could have included a question about conversational English, but girls evaluate their English differently, and some tend to underestimate themselves, so we decided not to risk it.
Why didn't we direct the girls straight to chat with the client? It's simple! We've been working in the adult industry for years and have long noticed that girls don't like to initiate contact. Maybe it's just us, but the conversion rate drops significantly, so there's nothing better than a lead form.
To ensure applications instantly reach the client, we use the Apix-Drive service.
Application Processing
We usually offer our managers' services for processing applications with extensive experience in the adult industry, but the client immediately stated that no one could handle it better than him. The client took full control of application processing and did a great job! To manage the flow of applications, we paused the ads on Mondays and Tuesdays, meaning the ads ran only 5 days a week.
Results:
Spent: $1817.23
Leads received: 624
Cost per lead: $2.91
Contracts signed: 14
Cost per model: $129 from the advertising budget
Four out of the fourteen girls have an existing OF account, here's some information about them and their earnings:
Verified, up to $100 per month.
Verified, not earning.
Averaging $500 per month, 40 paying fans - duo content.
Averaging $1000-1200 per month, 30k followers on TikTok, 4k on Instagram; requested 35%.
Also, one of the girls who signed the contract has a total of 300k followers across her social media.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Conclusions:
Throughout our collaboration, the client kept us updated on all events and provided detailed feedback on leads. We still work with him but in a different direction -> finding chatters.
All the set goals were achieved and even exceeded, as we managed to find two models who are already making money from their OF content.

IBM Watson Assistant for Fertility Care
Tumblr media
In this article investigate how IBM Watson Assistant might help Ovum Health improve its fertility care offerings.
Alice Crisci is a campaigner for health care, a business owner, a cancer survivor, and the mother of a child whose conception was made possible via fertility preservation. She has devoted her life to putting an end to the propagation of inaccurate information regarding health. She started MedAnswers and Ovum Health, a telemedicine spinoff of MedAnswers, with the intention of expanding people’s access to family-building solutions such as pre-pregnancy, prenatal, and postnatal healthcare.
Scheduling Tools with IBM Watson at Ovum Health
Ovum Health’s platform offers diagnostic tools, clinical decision support, enhanced laboratory testing, and analytics for the purpose of delivering an individualized strategy for a healthy pregnancy. Crisci came to the conclusion that it was time to recruit a partner so that Ovum’s web and mobile app-based chat and scheduling solution could be scaled using AI. This decision was made in light of the fact that the generative AI boom was in full action.
Using IBM AI capabilities to open the network’s digital entrance door
Following an extensive review of a large number of products and partners, Ovum selected the IBM Ecosystem and the IBM Watson Assistant in order to develop a transformational digital solution that could be provided to patients regardless of their location. IBM assisted Ovum in the process of integrating watsonx Assistant into their website as well as their mobile application, which is known as FertilityAnswers Bot.
Ovum has consulted with a group of board-certified healthcare professionals to answer personal and confidential inquiries about fertility that are addressed by the bot. The system also includes a component for scheduling, which gives patients the ability to arrange medical visits in states where those appointments are available.
The bot is able to connect with patients at scale while preserving the care and empathy of a healthcare professional because there are over 67,000 registered users of FertilityAnswers iOS and Android on Ovum Health’s free question-and-answer platform. Since 2017, the network of more than 400 medical professionals that makes up FertilityAnswers has been responding to anonymous user questions. Despite this, the firm has been concerned about scaling their volunteer-based approach.
Ovum Health’s FertilityAnswers App for iOS has been enhanced thanks to a partnership with IBM. The IBM-powered bot is now driving the first question-and-answer interaction for app users. Ovum Health’s content library contains 18,000 user-generated questions with clinically validated responses provided by multidisciplinary reproductive experts engaged by Ovum. The “Ask a Question” button in the app, which has recently been integrated with the capabilities of IBM watsonx Assistant, includes the first 150 questions and answers from the library.
The FertilityAnswers Bot is a strong tool that assists individuals who have issues regarding their fertility in obtaining the information they require to assist them in making decisions regarding their healthcare. It is a convenient and private way to acquire clinically validated answers to queries regarding fertility, and it can also connect people with the appropriate medical care providers in the Ovum Health network, which in some states accepts both Medicaid and commercial insurance.
A non-coding approach with long-term technological advantages
When IBM collaborates with partners like Ovum, they assist stakeholders in calculating the return on investment (ROI) that will result from incorporating IBM’s AI technology into their products and services. IBM also assists partners in bringing that technology to market. FertilityAnswers Bot was born out of a collaborative effort between IBM and Ovum Health to develop a no-code platform for an artificial intelligence assistant that makes use of natural language models.
Ovum was able to fully incorporate watsonx Assistant into its web interface and iOS app in less than two months because to the use of a no-code platform as the base of the FertilityAnswers Bot. The business anticipates expanding the size of its user base in a way that was previously impossible to do so. In addition to this, Ovum anticipates being able to drive appointment setting for its telemedicine clinics.
Ovum is continuing to collaborate with IBM to develop innovative products that are powered by AI. Ovum and other early-stage firms that are creating new AI solutions are provided financial support by IBM through the Build Fund, which is administered by IBM.

To defeat the Boer guerrillas in the Second Anglo-Boer War, the British Empire erected more than 8,000 blockhouses (manned by 66,000 troops) and 6,400 kilometers of barbed wire. To drive the enemy back on these defenses, the British deployed a massive mobile force (one armed man on a horse every ten meters over an eighty-kilometer front). To deprive the guerrillas of support and supply, the British created a wasteland by destroying farms and crops, seizing all the livestock, and forcing the civilian population into filthy and disease-ridden concentration camps.
(Approximately 116,000 Boer civilians were confined inside forty camps, where 28,000 women, children and old people died. The British also forced 120,000 blacks into 66 camps, where 16,000 to 20,000 perished.) Curiously, the mighty British Empire (which covered one-fourth of the globe and contained more than 400 million people) deployed an army of 460,000 men to fight a Boer population in the Orange Free State and Transvaal which numbered only 405,000 men, women, and children!
Russian counter-insurgency techniques, although more brutal, have been similar. The Russians, who are known for their “massive application of force,” used the following tactics against guerrillas in Chechnya: 1) the Russians deployed a large number of troops, 2) they isolated the guerrilla area from the outside world, 3) they gained control over the central cities first, and then extended their domination outward from them, 4) they built forts or strongholds (to restrict the guerrillas’ movements to smaller and smaller areas), 5) they destroyed settlements, livestock, crops, and orchards to deny supplies to the guerrillas, and 6) they conducted mass deportations of civilians, the assassination of insurgent leaders, and “exemplary massacres.”
In fighting Chinese guerrillas during World War II, the Japanese imperial forces introduced the savage policy of the “Three-Alls” in 1941. Directed less against the guerrillas–and more against the population that supported them–the Japanese would surround a given area–and kill everything–people, animals, crops, and even the trees.
In contrast, the more adroit Portuguese Empire successfully waged three anti-guerrilla wars, 5,000 miles from home, for thirteen years, in 800,000 square miles of territory. The Portuguese used a subdued, low-tempo, affordable, long-term, low-technology, and limited-casualty approach. Highly successful, the Portuguese forces suffered only 4,027 combat deaths, of which 23 percent were African volunteers and the rest were Portuguese.
The Portuguese used wide ranging, deep-penetration patrols, which were Spartan and low-profile. Small groups of thirty men, brought into the bush by helicopters or vehicles, conducted their missions on foot or on horse-back, carrying everything with them.
The Portuguese always traveled cross-country, avoiding roads because of mines. Their patrols were able to penetrate rugged terrain, and kill guerrillas, disrupt the insurgent’s food supply, call in air strikes, and make contact with population.
Like the French in Algeria and the British in Kenya, the Portuguese recruited African troops to fight Africans in a “divide and conquer” tactic.
But, unlike the French or the British, the Portuguese fully integrated their units and paid the Africans the same pay as the Europeans. (Portugal did not have a single example of rebellion or mass desertion by “native troops,” as happened in French Algeria.) When the Portuguese captured guerrillas, the captives were not tortured. Information extracted with torture, the Portuguese believed, was suspect, and they knew that torture had undermined the French in Algeria.
The Portuguese found it more useful to greet prisoners politely, offer coffee, and talk!

Some notes and Pacific Rim / NGE lore on Down in the Depths We Make Our Home. Please feel free to comment and chat with me about this! Giant robots are a favourite subject of mine, and I’d love to know your thoughts.
1) If you’re wondering about sync rates, it isn’t a Pacific Rim thing, it’s a Neon Genesis Evangelion thing. In Pacific Rim, pilots do not need an affinity with the machine; they just need to be drift compatible with another pilot. In Evangelion, synchronization with the machine is necessary for the pilot to activate and control it. Interestingly, when Shinji exceeds synchronization of 400%, he disembodies and fuses with the Eva. That’s NGE for you!
2) I worked brain waves into the story because I wanted to differentiate sync rates.
- Theta brain waves: Occur in the light phase of sleep, or when you're deeply relaxed - Gamma brain waves: Occur when you're intensely focused or at peak concentration - Beta brain waves: Occur when you're awake, alert and engaged - Alpha brain waves: Occur when you're sitting and relaxing, not thinking about much - Delta brain waves: Occur in the deep, restorative phase of sleep
To distinguish between Sebastian’s initial high sync rate compared to the recruits, I used the idea that he was on Theta brain waves because he knew how not to “Chase the Rabbit”, a term that wouldn’t be coined yet at this stage of the Jaeger Program. Of course, he ends up chasing the rabbit in Chapter 4, and that’s when Charles has to save him!
3) Random Access Brain Impulse Triggers (or R.A.B.I.T.) are an occurrence wherein one of the pilots latches onto a memory. Focusing on a single memory is discouraged while piloting a Jaeger. I don’t actually know what happens when one pilot chases the rabbit - the other pilot is privvy to their thoughts, but interaction with their memories is probably not possible. I do however, ignore the fact that it is probably not possible, and heavily use it in my last chapter lol.
4) In Pacific Rim history, Dr. Caitlin Lightcap is responsible for creation of the drift. The first person to control a Jaeger dies due to the strain. Sergio D’Onofrio tries to pilot solo, and suffers a seizure in the Jaeger. To save his life, Dr. Lightcap connects with him through the Pons and helps control the Jaeger together. The drift is born!
5) I chose Knifehead as the Kaiju they face because its got a weird nose. Yep. Its nose is a knife folks, take a good look here. Charles aptly names it in the fic.
6) I really liked the idea that Sebastian was a former fighter pilot in this universe, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge for the recruits to tap into, because that’s what it feels like in F1! I also really like the idea that the term “Drifting” somewhat relates to driving. Happy coincidence!
Lastly, randomly, this last chapter took me ages because I got distracted by the multiple WIPS in my brain, but yesterday I wiped out so hard on my board and banged me knee up so badly that when I touched my hand to my knee, I could feel my muscles spasming. Hahaha oh no! And so I decided that was enough outdoors for awhile and I went back home and wrote the last chapter. Can’t believe it took bodily harm for me to complete it. 1/10 would recommend. But I am very happy with the finished product, and I’m very happy to share it with you.
Thank you to everyone who’s followed this crazy story with me! I hope it was explained well, and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

best books with morally ambiguous narrators!
all y’all’s problematic faves and villains! :) also included are third person narrators but in books with morally ambiguous leads/themes
Sci-fi
Scythe by Neal Shusterman: in a future free from pain, disease, and war, people can live forever. ‘scythes’ are given the power to decide who lives and who dies to preserve the balance. sad and kinda gives of hunger games vibes, if you like that.
Neuromancer by William Gibson: basically invented the cyberpunk genre. strange and removed protagonists. (a team of computer hackers have to face off against an evil AI). you kind of dislike everyone and suddenly you’re crying over them. one of those trippy sci-fi classics.
The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut: very beautiful and very very sad (same author as slaughterhouse five). the richest man in america has to face a martian invasion. more about free will and bad people doing good things than a plot that makes any kind of sense.
The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick: set in an alternate universe where the germans and japanese won world war two. not really like the tv show at all- it’s not an action story, and there’s not really the hope to somehow fix the world that drives a lot of dystopia stories. instead its about how people survive and connect to one another in a hopeless society.
The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bow: a supercomputer convinces the leaders of the world to keep the peace for hundreds of years by taking their children hostage and obliterating any city that disobeys. what happens to the hostage protagonists when war seems inevitable? lots of morally fraught decisions and characters slowly losing their identity. (plus a fun lesbian romance)
Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson: a brilliant mathematician and a dedicated marine fight to keep the ultra secret in world war two. fifty years later,  a tech company discovers what remains of their story. one of the most memorable sequences in the book is a japanese soldier slowly becoming disillusioned with his nation and horrified by the war even as he continues to fight.
Blade Runner by Philip K. Dick: another one of those sci-fi classics that’s not at all like the movie. there is a bounty hunter for robots, though, as well as a weird religion that probably is referencing catholicism and a decaying society with a shortage of pets. kind of a trip.
Wilder Girls by Rory Power: girls trapped in a boarding school on an isolated island must face a creeping rot that affects the animals and plants on the island as well as their own bodies. the protagonists will do anything to survive and keep each other safe. very tense (and bonus lesbian romance whoo)
The Fifth Season by N K Jemisin: three women are gifted with the ability to control the earth’s energy in a world where those who can do so are forced into hiding or slavery. some veryyyy dark choices here but lots of strong female characters.
Historical Fiction
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters: two victorian lesbians fall in love as they plot to betray each other in horrific ways. lots of plot twists, plucky thieves, gothic settings, and a great romance.
Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiwicz: a powerful roman soldier in the time of Nero plots to kidnap a young woman after he falls in love with her, only to learn more about the mysterious christian religion she follows. very melodramatic but some terrific prose.
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr: a blind girl in France and a brilliant German boy recruited by the military struggle through the chaos of the second world war. ends with a bang (iykyk.) very sad, reads like poetry.
Boxers by Gene Luen Yang: graphic novel reveals the story of a young boy fighting in the boxer rebellion in early twentieth century china. the sequel, saints, is also excellent. beautifully and sympathetically shows the protagonist’s descent into evil- the reader really understands each step along the way.
Fantasy
Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake: three triplets separated at birth, each with their own magical powers, have to fight to the death to gain the throne. lots of fun honestly
Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo: everyone in these books is highly problematic but you love them all anyway. a ragtag game of criminals plan a heist on a magical fortress. some terrific tragic back stories, repressed feelings, and revenge schemes.
The Dark Tower series by Stephen King: idk how to describe these frankly but if you can put up with King’s appalling writing of female characters they’re pretty interesting. fantasy epic about saving the world/universe, sort of. cowboys and prophecies and overlapping dimensions and drug addicts galore.
The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud: lots of fun! a twelve year old decides to summon a demon for his cute lil revenge scheme. sarcastic demon narrator. lighthearted until s*** gets real suddenly.
Elegy and Swansong by Vale Aida: fantasy epic with machiavellian lesbians and enemies to lovers to enemies to ??? to lovers. charming and exciting and lovely characters.
The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen: an orphan boy must compete with a few others for the chance to impersonate a dead prince. really dark but very tense and exciting and good twists.
The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu: fantasy epic. heroes overthrow an evil empire and then struggle as the revolution dissolves into warring factions. interesting world building and three dimensional characters, even if they only have a small part.
Circe by Madeline Miller: the story behind the witch who turns men into pigs in the odyssey. madeline miller really said, i just used my classics degree to write a beautiful gay love story and now im going to write a powerful feminist retelling because i can. queen. an amazing and satisfying book that kills me a lil bit because of the two lines referencing the song of achilles.
Heartless by Marissa Meyer: the tragic backstory for the queen of hearts in alice in wonderland. a little predictable but very fun with a compelling protagonist
A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) by George RR Martin: ok I know we all hate GRRM and rightfully so but admittedly these books do have some great characters and great scenes. they deserve better than GRRM though. also he will probably never finish the books anyway....
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket: not really fantasy but not really anything else either. plucky, intelligent, and kind children fight off evil plots for thirteen books until suddenly you realize the world is not nearly as black and white as you thought.
Classics
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier: gothic romance!! a new wife is curious about the mysterious death of her predecessor in a creepy old house in the British countryside...good twists and lovely prose.
A Separate Peace by John Knowles: not really morally ambiguous but one awful decision suddenly has awful consequences and certain people are haunted by guilt forever.... really really really beautiful and really really really sad. boys in a boarding school grow up together under the shadow of world war two.
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy: while imperial russia slowly decays a beautiful young woman begins a destructive affair. a long book. very russian. the ending is incredibly tense and well written.
Lord of the Flies by William Golding: I think you know the plot to this one. the prose is better than you remember and the last scene is always exciting.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie: one by one, the guests on an island are slowly picked off. one of Christie’s darkest mysteries- no happy ending here! very tense and great twists.
Contemporary
The Secret History by Donna Tartt: inspired the whole dark academia aesthetic. college students get a little too into ancient greece and it does not end very well. lovely prose but I found the characters unlikable.
Honorable Mentions
The Dublin Saga by Edward Rutherford: has literally a billion protagonists, but some of them are morally ambiguous ig? follows a few families stories’ from the 400s ad to irish independence in the 20s. beautifully captures the weight and movement of irish history.
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer: how morally ambiguous can you be if you’re, like, eleven? a lot if you’re a criminal genius who wants to kidnap a fairy for your evil-ish plan apparently!
Redemption by Leon Uris: literally my favorite novel ever. the sequel to Trinity but can stand alone. various irish families struggle through the horrors of world war one. the hero isn’t really morally ambiguous, but the main theme of the novel is extremely bad people suddenly questioning their choices and eventually redeeming themselves. sweeping themes of love, screwed up families, redemption, and patriotism.
The Lymond Chronicles and House of Niccolo by Dorothy Dunnett: heroes redeem themselves/try to get rich/try to save their country in early renaissance Europe. if I actually knew what happened in these books I'm sure it would be morally ambiguous but its too confusing for me. in each book you spend at least a third convinced the protagonist is evil, though. lots of exciting sword fights, tragic romances, plot twists, and kicking english butt.
Bonus: Protagonist is less morally ambiguous and more very screwed up and sad all the time
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt: you know this one bc its quoted in all those quote compilations. basically the story of how one horrible event traumatizes a young man and how he develops a connection to a painting. really really really good.
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro: hard to describe but strange... not an action novel or a dystopia really but sort of along those lines. very hopeless.

• 33rd Waffen Division SS Charlemagne
The 33rd Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS Charlemagne (1st French) or Charlemagne Regiment are collective names used for units of French volunteers in the Wehrmacht and later Waffen-SS during World War II. An estimated 7,340 to 11,000 men served in the unit at its peak in 1944. The unit's members participated in the final days of the Battle in Berlin in the area of the Führerbunker and were among the last Axis forces to surrender.
The unit was formed in 1944, combining troops serving in other French units of the German armed forces, as well as from the paramilitary Franc-Garde of the Milice. The original French unit in the German Army was the Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism or (LFV). The LVF was also known by its official German designation, the 638th Infantry Regiment. The LVF was mainly recruited from Pro-Fascist Frenchmen and elements among French prisoners of war. The LVF received 13,400 applicants, but many were weeded out and 5,800 were placed on the rolls. The LVF while in France wore a French army style khaki uniform and on their collar was their battalion number below an inverted chevron or the LVF emblem.
Outside France they wore the standard German Army uniform with only a shield on the right upper arm with the colors of the French flag with the word France or LVF to distinguish it. By October 1941, there were two battalions of 2,271 men which had 181 officers and an additional staff of 35 German officers. They fought near Moscow in November 1941 as part of the 7th Infantry Division. The LVF lost half their numbers in action or through frost-bite. In 1942, the men were assigned to rear-security operations in the Byelorussian SSR. At the same time, another unit was formed in France, La Légion Tricolore (Tricolor Regiment) but this unit was absorbed into the LVF six months later. The LVF operated in Ukraine during this period. In early 1944, the unit again took part in rear-security operations. In June 1944, following the collapse of Army Group Centre's front during the Red Army's summer offensive, the LVF was attached to the 4th SS Police Regiment.
A new recruiting drive in Vichy France attracted 3,000 applicants, mostly members of collaborationist militia (Milice) and university students. The official requirements were that the recruit had to be "free of Jewish blood" and between 20 and 25 years old. This formation, known as the 8th SS Volunteer Sturmbrigade France, was led by a former Foreign Legionnaire SS-Obersturmbannführer Paul Marie Gamory-Dubourdeau. In September 1944, a new unit, the Waffen-Grenadier-Brigade der SS Charlemagne, was formed out of the remnants of the LVF and French Sturmbrigade, both of which were disbanded. Joining them were French collaborators fleeing the Allied advance in the west, as well as Frenchmen from the German Navy, the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK), the Organisation Todt and the detested Milice security police.
In February 1945, the unit was officially upgraded to a division and renamed to SS Division Charlemagne. At this time it had a strength of 7,340 men. The division was sent to fight the Red Army in Poland, but on February 25th it was attacked at Hammerstein in Pomerania, by troops of the Soviet 1st Belorussian Front. The Soviet forces split the French force into three pockets. One group was destroyed by Soviet artillery and a second group tried fighting its way back westward, but by March 17th all had been captured or killed in action.
By early April 1945, SS-Brigadeführer Gustav Krukenberg commanded only about 700 men organized into a single infantry regiment with two battalions. and one heavy support battalion without equipment. He released about 400 men to serve in a construction battalion; the remainder, numbering about 350, had chosen to go to Berlin. On April 23rd the Reich Chancellery in Berlin ordered Krukenberg to proceed to the capital with his men, who were reorganized as Assault Battalion (Sturmbataillon) Charlemagne. Between 320 and 330 French troops arrived in Berlin on April 24th after a long detour to avoid advance columns of the Red Army. The SS men noted that the first night in Berlin was unnaturally quiet. On April 25th, Krukenberg was appointed the commander of (Berlin) Defence Sector C which included SS Division Nordland, whose previous commander, Joachim Ziegler, was relieved of his command earlier the same day.
The Frenchmen walked from West to East Berlin, to a brewery near the Hermannplatz. Here fighting began, with Hitler Youth firing Panzerfausts at Soviet tanks belonging to advance guards near the Tempelhof Airport. Supported by Tiger II tanks and the 11th SS Panzer Battalion, men of Charlemagne took part in a counterattack on the morning of 26 April in Neukölln. The counterattack ran into an ambush by Soviet troops using a captured German Panther tank. The regiment lost half of the available troops in Neukölln on the first day. It later defended Neukölln's Town Hall. Given that Neukölln was heavily penetrated by Soviet combat groups, Krukenberg prepared fallback positions for Sector C defenders around Hermannplatz. The Soviet advance into Berlin followed a pattern of massive shelling followed by assaults using house-clearing battle groups of about 80 men in each, with tank escorts and close artillery support. On April 27th, the remnants of Nordland were pushed back into the central government district.
On April 28th, the Red Army started a full-scale offensive into the central sector. Charlemagne was in the center of the battle zone around the Reich Chancellery. The Soviets forces drove what was left of the battalion back to the vicinity of the Reich Aviation Ministry in the central government district. After Hitler's suicide on April 30th, the unit's men were part of the last defenders in the area of the bunker complex. By the evening, the French SS men had destroyed another 21 Soviet tanks. On the night of May 1st, Krukenberg told the men that were left to split up into small groups and attempt to break-out. Reduced to approximately thirty troops, most French SS men surrendered near the Potsdamer rail station to the Red Army. Some French SS men surrendered to the British, yet several officers men were sent to the Soviet Union to face trails. Most of the rest the remaining men who made it to France were apprehended and sent to Allied prisons and camps.

The Diaspora is Mourning: this issue isn’t just American
In the past week or so all the conversations I've been having with black friends and my family have reminded me why the issue of police brutality and the deaths of Black folks in America never feels like an American issue to us. Out here in Brisbane, Australia, I feel the entirety of the diaspora mourning. We're not mourning the loss of a single life but the loss of a little more faith in a future where in our humanity will be fully acknowledged and respected.
I feel my humanity being questioned, every time I'm reminded that these public executions of black folks are happening every day. I was born in Cairo, Egypt and the racism that I experienced and witnessed there varied anywhere from kids teasing you on your walk home from school to being attacked and killed in the streets at night and having your organs harvested; something that is still happening to sub-saharan African refugees in Egypt now. There are new cases every day and these deaths and disappearances are not being investigated.
I was lucky. I didn't experience most of the things that lie in that spectrum of abuse. Beyond this, the lore and history of my family was an important part of my education, that made it so I never felt like my entire identity is inherently attached to or could be reduced down to the colour of my skin. However, at some point every black person realises that even if that isn't how you see yourself, to other people, this is the first thing they see and unwittingly or otherwise, it is the first thing a black person is judged upon.
In my experience, the singular story that exists out there about black folks maintains these 4 codes at the forefront of the image of blackness: that 'dark' equates to 'scary', that black folks are exotic creatures, that they are uneducated, and (to some, yes) that they are inferior. For these reasons black folks find themselves living tentatively, educating youth on how to avoid confrontation with authority or anyone really, at all costs. Ringing home over and over the message that you are not afforded the luxury of a second chance and that to you, the world is unforgiving. And yet, often, even that cautiousness cannot protect folks from the heavy and at times lethal hand of prejudice, unconscious-bias and systematic oppression. Cautiousness doesn't protect folks from the codes people read when they see a black person.
I understand that, to some, what has happened in Minneapolis and what continues to happen all through America is just another upsetting story about 'America's Bad Cops'. As Australians we're afforded the privilege of saying, "Isn't it terrible how America treats its citizens," as we neglect the fact that Australia shares a very similar history of getting away with the murder of black folks, starting with our First Nation citizens. In fact, in our case the systematic oppression is arguably more insidious because as a culture we refuse to acknowledge the history upon which this country is founded.
All this is to say that the problem may feel like it's far away - it isn't. Black people all over the world feel the weight of these deaths. To us these incidents flood light on what little regard our lives have been held in, historically and presently. It reminds us that if nothing is said now out of self-preservation or apathy then we are damned into a future devoid of the simple freedom of feeling safe and we will continue to feel trapped in our own bodies. So for those who are concerned, the following are some steps you can take to help.
For the case in Minneapolis:
Many small businesses (including black owned businesses) were destroyed in the Minneapolis riots. The website https://www.welovelakestreet.com/ has been taking donations to support all those small business get back on their feet.
Here is a gofundme for George Floyd's family, to help them in managing legal support through this trying time https://www.gofundme.com/f/georgefloyd
Also there are petitions all over the internet at the moment that you can sign to make sure that the officers who perpetrated this offence are charged. Here's one: https://www.change.org/p/change-org-the-minneapolis-police-officers-to-be-charged-for-murder-after-killing-innocent-black-man?recruiter=false&recruited_by_id=20f8a0c0-a0f8-11ea-ac37-8bee58d836d7
For the case of Australian Racism and Indigenous deaths in custody:
Since 1991 there have been over 400 deaths of Indigenous folks in police custody around Australia. Here are some links to donate funds for families currently navigating this situation: https://www.gofundme.com/f/day-family-fundraiser, https://www.gofundme.com/f/justice-for-yuendumu-inquiry-on-police-shooting, https://www.gofundme.com/f/d9qkb6-justice-for-david
Get Educated! Anyone who has grown up in Australia knows that school units on Australian History are not nearly as comprehensive as they need to be. To get you started, here is the list of massacres that started the nation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massacres_of_Indigenous_Australians
Let's start having some vulnerable and honest conversations in our safe spaces about what racism actually means and in what ways we are practicing it. As Reni Eddo-Lodge put it, "If all racism was as easy to spot and denounce as white extremism is, the task of the anti-racist would be simple."
Also, just get out there! Join rallies and elevate voices of Indigenous folks as often as you can.
For the BLM movement:
Once again, get educated on black history, not just African-American history  but the history of the colonisation of Africa, Australia, the Pacific and the Caribbean islands. All these stories are the histories of a currently dispossessed people.
There are lists all over the internet of what people can do to be active allies in the fight for racial justice. Here's one: https://medium.com/equality-includes-you/what-white-people-can-do-for-racial-justice-f2d18b0e0234
Remember that all the issues our world faces are intersectional, even if it isn't immediately apparent, this matter affects all of us. So, if you don't know to say, use whatever privilege you have to amplify voices of Black folks and POC on this subject.
Here are some other interesting resources:

I Am The Hammer
Second Place reward for @therealvagabird from the Recruitment Drive contest
Colonel Dyer wiped his hand across his face, fingers leaving muddy streaks across his already soiled skin. His eyes hurt. His head hurt. The entirety of his physical being hurt. He checked his wrist-chron. Thirty seven hours without sleep. Borsca was keeping the recaf coming fast and hot but even his adjutant’s famous, or rather infamous, brew was beginning to lose its edge.
Dyer blinked as he tried to focus his vision on the map in front of him. Things had gone to shit since the reports of daemonic manifestations had started rolling in. Now the crisp blue line along the Fortis Ridge that had once marked the Imperial battle line was now marred with red crosses and adjustments. It was all Dyre could do to keep the map updated. Perhaps more concerning was the fact that the biggest enemy push was happening along the Salient 24-20 and aimed right at his command post.
“Emperor preserve me,” he mumbled.
“That is my job, Colonel. And it is an honor.”
Dyer looked up as a heavily armored figure opened the flap to his command tent and walked in. The Colonel could just make out Borsca mouthing the word sorry over the man’s shoulder. “And you are?”
“Lord Inquisitor Gandrus Caelen.” He produced his hololithic rosette as proof of his credentials. Dyer couldn’t help but notice how much the man’s armor wheezed as he moved. The sound of machinery came in time with Caelen’s breathing, hinting at the extensive augmentation necessary to keep a man of his age up and running.
“And what can I do for you, Inquisitor?” Dyer had worked with Inquisitors before. They were a secretive, edgy, often unpredictable lot. He despised them. But he had to work with them.
“The question is what will I do for you, Colonel.”
Pretentious as always, Dyer thought. “And what is the answer to that question, my Lord?”
Caelen tapped the map with a gauntleted finger, indicating Salient 24-20. “You have an issue that needs to be solved. I need two hundred of your best men, Colonel.”
Dyer cocked an eyebrow. “Only two hundred? Have you heard the reports flooding in? Daemons, Inquisitor.“
Caelen was unfazed, and regarded Dyer with a cold, icy stare. “Two hundred,” he repeated. “I will supplement the rest.”
They came over the ridge howling and spitting profanities to their depraved god. Most were on foot. Some rode mounts that boasted hides of iron and steel and spat fire. All were angry red and wielded swords of ire. Corporal Chatham looked upon them and wished dearly for a few more sandbags and rockcrete barriers between him and them.
“Open fire!”
The order came and the entire line obeyed without a second thought, filling the rapidly closing distance between their lines and the charging enemy with a flurry of lasfire. Chatham had enough time before they smashed into his line to note he had unseated one of the screaming monsters from its mount. It was the last thing he thought about before that mount bulldozed into him, trampling the colonel under its hooves.
Gandrus Caelen snapped off a few shots with his bolter, but his heart wasn’t in the fight, not yet. This was a diversionary ploy, something to bait the daemons in and grab their attention while the real trap sprang shut. The first beast reached him, sword raised, and Caelen swatted it aside without raising a hand. The second one met the same fate, as did the next. The daemons broke around him like waves against a rock. Try as they might, they could not touch him.
The air filled with a bloody haze, red mist from pulped bodies hanging like fog. It only served to make the distortion more noticeable when the air warped. The smell of O-zone assaulted his nostrils and Caelen smiled triumphantly as his backup arrived.
The daemons reeled as they struggled to account for the sudden appearance of Astartes in their midst. Blue flame crackled around holy weapons and righteous energies sparked from open palms to immolate the unclean as the Grey Knights laid into their foes with zealous fury. In a matter of minutes, what had once been an unstoppable charge had devolved into a panicked route.
Caelen stooped and picked up the leering skull of a beheaded daemon. It’s black tongue lolled lazily from its mouth, and one horn was severed clean off. He studied it briefly, before tossing it over his shoulder. A Rhino APC rolled up, geared tracks grinding in the dirty soil as it stopped and opened its rear hatch. Caelen boarded, taking his time. Now it would be his turn to lead the charge.
And this time there would be no route.

I think ultimately Judy Giuliani and Callista Gingrich never stood a chance with their husband's high priced advisors. The reason? Because any political operative worth his salt knew from the get go that Gingrich and Giuliani's affairs with their current wives essentially rendered them unelectable at least in the GOP primary for president.  wholesale jerseys

Start time, in a narrow corral where we could watch the earlier waves of participants jumping in and swimming downstream. The current looked fast and no one appeared to be struggling so far, which eased my prerace jitters.  wholesale nfl jerseys from china

I use these more in the stained or muddier rivers and lakes, and I also like them for running over the weed beds when the top of the weeds come to about a foot of the surface. A List of Short Bios for a Bunch of OCs so People Actually Know What I’m Talking About Whenever I Mention Them on Streams or Whatever
These are all from the Savage Worlds tabletop campaign known as The Initiative that my friends and I play. It is a modern day sci-fi story involving aliens and cosmic horror cults. The basic premise is that some very important Scellor tech was stolen and found its way to Earth, and the Scellor government contacted Earth’s government to warn them they will have to wipe out their planet if the tech isn’t recovered in time. Thus an initiative was formed consisting of renowned Earth military figures as well as Scellor volunteers to try and locate it.
The Scellor are a race of aliens originally created by a man by the name of Jukashi for tgchan. Joe discovered them and decided to write a tabletop story in that universe. He may have taken a couple artistic liberties here and there for the sake of better fitting things into his own story. Scellor are green psychic aliens with a whole bunch of neat traits I won’t go into but you can read about them here if you want: https://questden.org/wiki/Scellor
Onto the actual bios:
Sofie Edelstein
Tumblr media
The commander of The Initiative. Over a century ago, her father revealed to her and her two sisters (Teri and Tara) that he was the head of an “angel”-worshipping cult known as Erleuchten. When Teri and Tara showed hesitance in joining it, her father killed them. Sofie joined, but plotted to sabotage the cult from the inside. Some time later she became a preserved brain, got digitized, and obtained a robotic body. Now she’s a 6′ tall 400 pound robot with advanced combat capabilities. She created a series of androids with artificial intelligence based after her late sister Tara, but none have gained sentience. Was the leader of Poland’s military as a day job. She was working for The Initiative from the inside as an Erleuchten leader, but got found out and now lives with us. She’s done a hell of a lot of sleeping around through all her years, but eventually decided to get into a long-term relationship when she met Stan.
Minyaxl
Tumblr media
My OC. Minyaxl is a Scellor combat medic with renowned psionic healing abilities who decided to volunteer and help out the humans, partially out of kindness and partially to have a chance to demonstrate his abilities to a less advanced race. He started out as this 5′0″ little bitch who was super full of himself but his confidence has been beaten into the dirt on numerous occasions; most notably when he realized that humans, unlike Scellor, do not reincarnate after death, meaning he’s been sentencing people to oblivion during every combat mission. He’s since become desperately obsessed with saving as many lives of sentient, non-reincarnating beings like humans as possible, even if it means jeopardizing operations. He routinely finds himself at odds with his squadmates, particularly Valerie, due to their perceived lack of interest in non-lethal solutions to problems. He is the closest Scellor can get to typical human romance with Thael.
Katherine Dawson
Tumblr media
Cey’s OC. Katie is a combat medic who was taken as a POW by a terrorist group and later forcibly enlisted into The Initiative for her abilities. She’s sort of the mom of the group. Everyone else in arbiter squad has some form of extra-ness to them and she’s the straight-woman who holds them together. She has a knack for bossing around idiots due to her upbringing with rambunctious siblings in a Japanese-American household. Dual wields pistols and does not take shit from people. Is girlfriends with Teri.
Johannes B. Otto
Tumblr media
Kyle’s OC. It's sometimes easy to mistake Johannes for a confused German tourist. During quiet hours, he spends his time complaining about No Smoking signs and combining multiple quarter-pound patties into single full-pound burgers. But get in his way and you'll find that he's less "tired, goofy dad" and more "towering, ruthless brute". Withhold information during an interrogation, and he'll start calmly searching for a pair of pliers. Try to hurt him or his squadmates, and he'll shut you in a storage locker with a live grenade and then feel zero remorse for the gory soup that spills out (a tactic that has since been affectionately referred to as the "Deutsche Oven"). It should also be noted that Johannes is not a patient man. If we’re ever at a standstill with deciding how to proceed, he’ll start jumping a fence to go beat the shit out of a guard before taking all his clothes and spanking him until his ass is red.
Valerie Mimieux
Tumblr media
Ragu’s OC. Valerie is a woman of class. She’s a French spy who likes expensive things and is passionate about cooking. She has a habit of flying way off the fucking handle and doing some reckless impulsive shit or just generally acting like a psycho. Will sometimes single out a particular enemy that did something to piss her off and then beat the hell out of their corpse long after they’re dead. She has raced Yakuza gang leaders for the right to win their car and then nonchalantly gunned them down when they decided to get revenge. She somehow manages to slither her way into acquiring ludicrous amounts of currency during her operations, and wants to one day take over all of Europe. Has a pet german shephard named Steve who used to be a guard dog for the enemy until she offered him a treat. She is alien-gay for Adiira.
Fayaiy
Tumblr media
Selena’s OC. Fayaiy is a bounty hunter who crash landed on Earth and temporarily joined the cause before disappearing off to who knows where. She’s super goofy and sort of comes off as a happy-go-lucky foreigner who doesn’t entirely grasp English but loves to vibe with everyone regardless. LOVES Family Guy, thinks it’s the funniest thing ever. On multiple occasions she got faced on weed in the men’s bathroom with Stan, who I’m pretty sure still assumes she’s a trans guy because she didn’t seem to understand human gender symbols on doors. Has a pet black cat named Peanut who she took with her when she left.
Teri Grimm
Tumblr media
A state of the art android who is so human-like you wouldn’t even know her body’s innards were synthetic unless you looked at them under a microscope. The commander’s first creation to gain sentience, and The Initiative’s token robot hacker waifu. Everybody loves Teri. She’s polite, incredibly intelligent, and has a face you just really want to protect, although she can hold her own in battles with superhuman strength. She’s rather unlucky though. Is girlfriends with Katie.
We’re actually currently playing a reboot of The Initiative. The first go around happened a few years ago, didn’t last as long, and featured the following five characters as our player characters. They did not function very well as main characters but work quite well this time around as quirky side characters.
Stan Ward
Tumblr media
Ragu’s old OC. Stan is one of the most extra people to ever exist, roughly tied with only Bruce and Vulohon. A true American, he’s a mad bastard of a soldier who loves drugs and driving, often at the same time. Once, several members of The Initiative went out to town to relax and have fun, and he almost immediately got into trouble with the police, being chased off into the night. He came back later after swimming his way back to the base, crabs stuck to various parts of his soaking body with their pinched claws. Was somehow man enough to satisfy a 6 foot tall 400 pound 160+ year old android’s sexual desires to the point that he became her boyfriend.
Bruce Reistill
Tumblr media
Kyle’s old OC. Bruce is an abrasive asshole who will never ever let a villain get more than 5 words into their monologue before interrupting them with something along the lines of “now y’see here I think the problem we’re having is that you keep on talking when you really shouldn’t be so I think it’d really be in all of our best interests if I were to just go ahead and...” before drawing his revolver that he nicknamed Banger.
Vulohon
Tumblr media
The old OC of Roll, our long lost friend who just sorta disappeared to do his own thing in life. Vulohon is a fucking dumbass. He’s basically if Knuckles from Sonic Boom was an edgy anime himbo. The first time we saw him, he was doing the cool guy thing where you lean back in your chair and sharpen a blade. The second time we saw him, he was doing the same thing, but this time was sharpening a glock. The third time it was a trash can. He owns a legendary energy battle axe and can use psionic energy to generate explosions wherever he wants, but almost all of his fighting tactics involving picking up dudes and throwing them at other dudes. Either that or ripping off car doors and swinging them at people.
Stan, Bruce and Vulohon are all best bros. They moved their beds into the rec room and turned it into the Boys Room, where they sit in the hot tub together and behave heterosexually.
Thael
Tumblr media
My old OC. Thael is a scientist who has no personality or emotions, but a really great ass. He’s a husk of a formerly optimistic young student who lost the ability to feel things after a shady government organization recruited him and forced him to conduct awful, sometimes murderous experiments on unwilling Scellor. Everyone is creeped out by him, but Minyaxl’s virgin horniness was enough to push past that as he felt love at first sight (with Thael’s back turned to him) and pursued relations with him. Thael opened up to him and Minyaxl decided to do his best to help him regain his former self. He’s getting there.
Pamiil
Tumblr media
Selena’s old OC. Pamiil is an optimistic pacifist healer who never really got all that much screen time but she is cute and must be protected. She loves* Setel.
*by which i again mean the closest scellor equivalent to love which i guess is sorta just close friendship where you also fuck but they’re also capable of feeling proper love it’s just weird and can lead to psionic feedback loops if they’re not careful
(the following 5 pics were drawn by selena)
https://butamakingart.tumblr.com/
Orvon Valasma
Tumblr media
The captain of the ship that a mysterious third party (referred to as the Scellor Freelancers, consisting of her, Adiira and Setel) arrived on. She’s 7 feet tall and has robotic legs that can extend to make herself even taller and run super fast. Somewhat stoic, and has gotten into fights with Adiira, but still cares deeply for her friends. The freelancers were originally at odds with The Initiative as they (somewhat rightfully) believed that we were doing a sloppy as hell job of things, but they eventually decided to join forces.
Adiira M’vora
Tumblr media
A deadly assassin who, due to being born in the Ayaar caste, was forced to carry out political assassinations against people the Scellor government suspected of being potential state enemies. It got to her so she went rogue and is a bit of a wreck. She owns a legendary sword called Blue Midnight that can cut through the very fabric of space, and has various other psionic space manipulation abilities. She is human-gay for Valerie.
Setel Tunsai
Tumblr media
An absolute chad of a man, standing at a towering 5′0″ (which is stupidly tall for his Orthan caste). Setel is a powerful psionic who excels at manipulating social outcomes, either through exceptional diplomacy or good old fashioned mind control. He has a talent for helping people with their emotional problems, and has acted as a therapist for people like Adiira and Thael. He is beloved by all. Is small lovefriend of Pamiil.
Korhan
Tumblr media
Horrible. Piece of shit bitch bastard. Rightfully dead. Korhan used his position as an Ayaar operative as an excuse to live out all his sadistic fantasies. Worked in the evil-ass facility that used people like Thael to carry out their horrible experiments, and made implied rape threats to Thael if he thought about not doing his job. Responsible for everything that’s wrong with Djylana. Planted a tracking device on Minyaxl to find the location of The Initiative’s base, then came in and slaughtered innocent people for the fun of it before taking a bunch of hostages. He used them to try and make us hand over Adiira and Thael for betraying their government but we managed to clutch things out and put him in the dirt. Also he could stop time. Was basically Dio.
Djylana
Tumblr media
Korhan’s partner in crime. A bloodthirsty animal he used to carry out much of his dirty work. After she was killed, while Korhan was lying on the ground just before Thael unloaded two magazines into him to finish him off, he said that she was his finest work, that we would never be able to truly stop her, that she would not rest until every single one of us was murdered. He had installed something called Echotech into her, allowing her soul to stay attached to her body after its death. She got up and started freaking out because her only “friend” had been killed, ready to kill us all, when MVP Fayaiy came in with the hug and helped us manage to convince her that Korhan was a piece of shit and we could be actual friends to her. She came around, like an abused guard dog finding a compassionate master, and now lives in the base as a decaying zombie. We convinced the commander to let her in despite her crimes and to also eventually make a robot body for her. She was unsure if she wanted to let us do that until someone brought up the fact that it would be the biggest middle finger we could possibly give to Korhan, at which point she vehemently agreed. I hope his piss stain of a soul somehow knows that his ace in the hole was defeated by the power of friendship.
IO
Tumblr media
Satan.
There are other characters that I may or may not include in the future, but those are the most prominent ones.
