Miguel Raimundo Shares His Secret to Beautiful Street Portraits
This photographer takes pictures of strangers on film
“It’s the best way to make friends,” says Portuguese street portrait photographer Miguel Raimundo when asked if he’s made any long term acquaintances while photographing strangers. Asking permission for photos goes a long way toward getting a smile in return. But there’s always the odd person who feels threatened and can even become abusive. Miguel shrugs it off with a smile and just continues on…

People are being a bit weird in your inbox and I think they are forgetting that you are just a person that likes taking care of cats and not a Registered 501c NonProfit Certified Contracted Elderly Cat Hospice.
anyways Marston is so dang cute I can't believe he's barely 1!!! Very excited to see what he looks like not shaved down to a nub
Yeah I actually deleted that first anon bc I never should have given them the time of day. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt though. And rehoming anon is fine bc I believe they came from a place of genuine curiosity and not judgement. I just had to delete another anon tho who was on a similar wavelength as that first one.
It is definitely interesting to see that adopting a cat can be so controversial though lol. You’d think I snuck into someone’s home and kidnapped their beloved pet or something.
ANYWAYS! This is the last time I will touch on this bc I don’t want to breed any more negativity. This is a place for fucked up looking beasts and muppets, not being angry.

Ready to vote on a charity for the SWARM Zine to donate its profits to?
Hey all! Thank you so much for submitting charity ideas. While we received many fantastic suggestions, we’ve narrowed it down to three viable options, keeping in mind that we needed to select from US-based 501c certified charities for tax reasons. Now it’s up to you to make the final decision! Voting ends in one week, on June 30, so be sure to make your opinion heard before then! All of our charity options have been vetted for authenticity and financial transparency, so no matter who wins, you can feel good about where your zine dollars will go!
Our charities are:
Trans Lifeline: Trans Lifeline is a peer support and crisis hotline non-profit organization serving transgender people by offering phone support and microgrants. It is the first transgender crisis hotline to exist in the United States as well as Canada. It is also the only suicide hotline whose operators are all transgender. Black and Pink: Black and Pink is a United States prison abolitionist organization supporting LGBTQ and HIV-positive prisoners. The group organizes a pen pal program, distributes a prisoner-written newspaper to its incarcerated members, provides court accompaniment, and educates people on their rights. Trans Law Center: The Transgender Law Center is the largest American transgender-led civil rights organization in the United States. Grounded in legal expertise and committed to racial justice, TLC employs a variety of community-driven strategies to keep transgender and gender nonconforming people alive, thriving, and fighting for liberation.

I'd do a 3000-word long education post about the difference between a 501c(3) nonprofit, a 501c(4), and a foundation, but I don't think anyone on this hellsite cares

"Our Last Ride: April 5, 2012. Love you, son."
It was a fresh spring morning twelve years ago today when Colton gathered the horses for a day in the saddle. He had a calm look and a shy smile, which I had not seen in a while. After a year-long mission in Afghanistan, I knew what coming home meant to him.
I watched my son work the horses with an instinct and bond he had developed since childhood. Before Colton could walk, he was on his trusty pony mare, Sally. I remember putting him in the saddle for the first time when he was just a few months old.
He was a quiet boy who did not change much with age or life experiences. I always felt he was an old soul who longed for a past that could not be found in this lifetime. With the heart of a cowboy, he enjoyed the simple things in life that many people take for granted, like spending a day with his horses.
That day, Colton paid particular attention to his mare. He gently stroked her neck and ran his fingers through her mane, savoring every moment. As we rode off that morning, I also felt a sense of calm and peace within my son. I wished the ride could last forever, and I could sense that he felt the same way. I wanted his peace to last forever.
Colton lost his battle with PTSD just 23 days after this ride. 20+ veterans fall to suicide every day. Think about it: since we lost Colton, an estimated 87,000 veterans have died by suicide.
Have a conversation with someone who is on your mind. Listen without judgment, and be there for them. Your voice can give them another choice, life. If you or someone you know is struggling with PTSD, please don't hesitate to reach out. There is always hope.
Colton's father,
Jerry Wayne Derr

501C faults
keep them asking for more alms,
touting their great work
filling perpetual holes
while propping up Christless lives.
the aim of shared wealth,
a gospel of meeting needs
damning denial
of the importance the work
began and finished in Christ.
Not like Paul's journeys,
not the story of poor men
wandering through streets
to proclaim the work of God
Leaches crying give and give
Even preaching pushing more
easing overriding guilt.
.
