A rally in support of trans people took place in Vancouver's Grandview Park Friday to mark International Trans Day of Visibility.

Among the speakers was 15-year-old event organizer 7ven Perks, who told the crowd: "You're not alone." 

Three years ago, Perks, who uses the pronouns it/its, came out as non-binary. The journey hasn't always been easy. 

"At first it wasn't that bad," Perks said. "But as I transferred to high school, not easy at all. Lots of bullying, all that fun stuff. So it could have been better, honestly."

Mercy: Her sides - she's pretty ticklish. Her neck, especially near her ears. Kissing her there will always get her going.

Sparrow: Her breasts. They are super sensitive and get the biggest reaction from her. It always surprises her, too. Especially since she'll sleep naked with Darcy before they become lovers and so they get brushed and whatnot often. But touched while kissing her or looking at her, and she melts.

Frankie: Her stomach and thighs. Which Beau knows, intimately. He'd also add her butt - because he's bitten her there enough times to know how that goes.

Mercury (Rhy): Her back. Kisses along her spine make her go weak in the knees - a fact 7ven learns pretty early on.

Mercy: She's pretty partial to Darlin. Heh. Also Beautiful and Sweetheart sit high on the list there.

Sparrow: From Bean: Love. From Darcy: Kitten.

Frankie: Love, Beautiful, Gorgeous...Lover...whatever Beau is calling her that day. If it's Beau, she's happy with it. And Beau always calls her something sweet.

Mercury (Rhy): I don't know yet. Does 7ven have a name for her? Not sure yet! I think she'd be partial to Precious or something that makes her feel cherished and wanted. Something that makes her feel like a desired woman and more importantly, a person valued as a companion. Something not related to just sex.

Sort Of... (series 2)

The first season of Sort Of… was a delightful and heart tugging revelation. This season picks up almost immediately from where it left off and continues Bilal Baig’s journey. But this time it also includes a lot more of those around them, like Amanda Cordner’s 7ven.

Also like the first season, Baig is often quietly contained while forces build through the season. Eventually it all explodes, as it must. But the story mostly just unfolds with moments and wry comments and little intense drama until things break. In other words, it feels more like the real world even though the complexities and choices of the story are so clearly manipulated.

But even with that manipulation, the story and characters remain as compelling as the first season. More so, in some ways, as our understanding of them deepens. Fortunately it’s already renewed, even amidst the carnage of the HBO axe.

If you haven’t found this show yet, give it a shot. It’s worth supporting and some careers are definitely being forged in its crucible.
