I’m not sure the person who linked it actually read it,

it’s not very helpful and references everything in an American way even though the uni is in Australia

it’s 65 fucking pages

it’s pretty outdated

in Australia, resumes are written differently to the US and so the uni is intentionally linking information that is irrelevant

Earlier today I saw that a friend on facebook has made a birthday fundraiser for autism $peaks, I don’t want to be accusatory or judging- he almost certainly doesn’t know about all the problems with the group- I just really appreciate want to explain why they’re so horrible. So any help so I know how to explain it someone who hasn’t got the same pre-existing knowledge would be really good.

The Keynote Speaker for this Disability Advocate Convention I will be attending next month is one of the creators of Julia from Sesame Street

This is my big chance to try to introduce myself to this person and hopefully talk to them and make them understand from an autistic person’s perspective that A$ is bad and that the actions Sesame Street has done with A$ is harmful to autistic individuals.

They will tell us how and why they created Julia. If it’s for ableist reasons, I feel like I will speak up.

Welcome to Tumblr! A$ is a satirical way of referring to Autism Speaks. The autistic community at large holds Autism Speaks in high contempt for their pandering to vulnerable populations and fear mongering in the pursuit of profiteering, but mostly for their blatant refusal to listen to us, actually help us, and for actively harming us in this pursuit. There is a lot of autistic written literature on this topic. You’re sure to find it if you look specifically for stuff written by autistic people. Hot tip!! Searching the tag “actually autistic” is a great way to find our voices. ^_^ Thank you for taking the time to help your friend. Seasame Street now supports A$.  What to do.

Hey everyone. 

Some many of us were very happy a while back when Seasame Street introduced and autistic character that seemed to be very well done.  They were also consulting with generally cool organizations like ASAN to make sure it was done right. 

However, now they’re working with Autism Speaks.  I’m not going to go into detail as to why that’s bad, as everyone knows just how horrible they are.  

So, what to do?  There’s a petition you can sign here.  You can also directly contact Sesame Street though this link.

So I bought this shirt at gamestop because it was on sale, and one hand, love it, other hand annoyed quentin (because rebellious boy can't have school spirit apparently)

But I had forgotten that the corporate sponsors a$ so I wasnt expecting the random interview with an autism dad , talking about how hard it was on him with the expectations and judging looks from people.

He was crying because he has had people tell him what a good job he was doing and how that changed his day.

And I was just so distracted by the interview that I couldn't remember the number for the member ship thing.

I felt bad for the guy at the cashier who had to work with me, but since he didn't ask for donation and the shirt was even cheaper than advertised. It wasn't worse than it had to be.

Reminder, don't support autism $peaks, but don't boycott gamestop either, they punish the workers for lower sales.

Trying not to get angry or upset with my family for supporting A$. They keep trying to tell me the good they are doing and everything to the person on the spectrum who is telling them that A$ is hurting them.
