Howdy! I just want to take a moment (or two…or three..yeah this is longer than I thought it would be) to talk about your characterization of Narinder in your TRoD fanfic, specifically his grievance over what he perceived the lamb to be and betrayel.

I like to think Narinder repeatedly calling Lambert a traitor (I think at least once a chapter actually lmaoo) over and over, is trying not so subtly to avoid thinking about the why behind the betrayel and the pain that comes with it. Especially since he'd already spent an eternity wondering about the previous betrayal of his siblings. How emotionally torturous it must feel to be in this cycle of rejection, from the people he depended on, even now from his own followers who don't recognize him. And then, when he and Lambert finally appear to be on the same page about something, Lambert goes and spares Leshy, reminding Narinder once again that his divine commands hold as much weight on the Lamb as they will decide to hold.

It isn't up to Narinder to decide how the lamb will act, as much as he wants to. It's one thing for Narinder to have people listening to him, but it's another to actually be heard, and after an eternity of silence during his imprisonment he's absolutely desperate for some form of control and impact. For someone to truly hear him. Which is a shame, because Lambert does, but Narinder cannot recognize it since they don't always give Narinder what he wants (since being a God is all about what you want), and instead are more interested in giving him what he needs.

I assume at this point, after being revived into a mortal form, he's actively given up on trying to understand why everyone just keeps "betraying/rejecting him" and would rather use his own inferences of their behavior as explanation, once again, for that feeling of control, since he's utterly mortified of hearing those words come from their mouths instead of his own (doesn't help that he can actually read minds either). He'd rather kill his siblings than hear the why (not saying the siblings were justified ofc, but understanding one's motivations is, y'know, important to effectively communicating with them in a way that's healthy) Despite needing to be heard, he's internalized that many won't bother listening unless he has control over them in some way, like he did before when he was powerful. When he mutilated his siblings, had Lambert create a cult in his name, being heard isn't just an emotional or mental aspect to his wellbeing, but is literally part of his power as well.

He was/is a God, he's used to followers prostrating themselves just to hear the time of day, giving their all to listen, hear, and follow him. It's why he struggles to separate the aspects that are ingrained in a follower, from those who are a friend. Unless they're also God he can't comprehend much of a difference, and expects them to be of the same or similar standing. He was friends with Lambert when he was Godly, yes, but he still saw himself as above Lambert, and expected them to lay down their life to him like a follower would. Yes, Narinder didn't want to cut them out of his own life in their death, but still expected them to just..die for him. He didn't ***just*** see Lambert as a friend, he saw them as a friend that was also his follower. An exceptional follower he loved, but not an exception. There was a power imbalance that Lambert now sees.

It's why Narinder's utterly baffled and offended, fearful even, at Lambert, someone he deemed as "traitorous", investing their time into still trying to talk to him..listen to him.. for virtually no gain…at his lowest point...when he himself is now "lesser".

Narinder tries so hard to not become invested in those he deems as "lesser" or "traitors" but its near fucking impossible, because like it or not, his desires and needs are so inherently mortal and genuine (desire for power, companionship, love, understanding, control, etc) that if he doesn't close himself off, he may have to face falling into the same pit of disappointment and failed expectations he fell in with Lambert/his siblings once again. So he doesn't, and hides away in his shack until Lambert comes knocking.

And now, as the cherry on top of this emotionally constipated bundle of angsty cat woes, he has to live and breathe as the very thing he deemed as "lesser". Being forced to invest in these mortal needs, now that they're a necessary component to his survival. This is also why I believe he goes on these little crusades with Lambert in the first place as well. Not only because they return to him a sense of routine and normalcy (also pining, coughocoughghhrbogh who said that?), but also because it allows Narinder to forget about investing in his own wellbeing for a while.

He was a God, he didn't have to go through the work it took to just do your laundry, eat, brush your teeth, or take care of yourself since he never had to. The thrill of adventure and battle, the adrenaline rush of near-death experiences, can't hold a candle to the mundanity of work. So when he's not crusading, he just..sleeps..wanders around..the fact he's not socially accepted by his own followers doesn't encourage him either. I mean fuck, he such a complete wreck after Lambert spared Leshy, he crusaded and neglected his health for so long he passed out.

His life is all work now, investing in himself, in others, being forced to have his ego get knocked down a few pegs, and care again despite how much it hurts. None of these things are "given", Lambert's love is not just given (as in, blindly follow) and that's what I believe will be an eventual "eureka" moment for him.

Living is work, but it's worth working for

Anyway, sorry for the long-winded ramble this was all actually just a very roundabout and ineffective ploy for me to talk about how I relate the song "Don't Speak" by No Doubt, to your Narinder's character. Happy belated New Year, hope you're doing well. :]

This is such a well articulated analyzation of Narinder holy moly, I hope you don't mind me answering this with not much to add on because WOW I'm really vibing with your takes on him and I wanted the world to read this too slkdghlksdhgs. I have a lot of my own takes on Narinder and how he'll progress to be as the story comes along, and eventaully some of this will be talked about in TROD either with the lamb and/or with other characters, particularly Ratau, as he comes to an understanding that others are understanding.

I have not had coffee yet this morning but I could go on for a day and a half about Narinder being used to getting what he wants as a god and the entire process of how actaully lonley and isolating it can be to be continously pedastaled and worshipped verses being on equal, human level with other beings and how long it takes for him to realize that.

You might catch something right in time whatever that might mean. This could be anything it depends on the individual, someone saying something, something falling almost, idk.if that does happen it must also be a confirmation of something. So I'm seeing a complete ending and then a revival. This group is somehow dealing with the general concept of time ... I'm seeing for some of you this is all past energy some of you right now some of you the future this could even be like way in the future ok. So it just depends . Someone most likely am adult male is speaking well on you and possibly other people you care about or can be related to yourself. This is looking good for your reputation and it might even be saving your reputation. U know what for a few of you this could be someone that's catching something right on time that's what that is for you . Something about something working and smoothly at that, or a job or you working with someone . This could be someone you know from work. Looks like they love you like they have love for you and a lot of other people , this is someone with a good heart even if you can't tell by their personality . Something's " falling apart " I heard and someone's getting away smoothly from anything affecting them . There's an energy of some type of trick being played or more so just an attempt at that. Maybe some type of verbal communicative manipulation. So this is super deep in some way some form of group of people, big or small, serious or silly, depends on who is reading, has attempted to silence someone. I'm guessing a great majority of you it's you that was or is trying to be silenced. I'm getting the metaphor... If you can call it that this isn't even a metaphor I just don't even know I'm kind of appalled cause what I'm getting is that like if you like just decided ok this one needs to go to another life not stay on earth you know so they took something away and try to deprive them of something so either that happens or so that they do not have the energy , capacity, capability of being able to speak the truth but guess what that's the desert card and after that I have the wave card so not just here's a glass of water let's throw you in the ocean and let a wave roll over you ... So this is gonna hit really fast cause of course that's the universes will. It's kind of like actually a miracle type of energy im even getting the word biblical and also maybe the story of the guy who parted the red sea or together is significantly sorry I should remember his name I read the bible 300 times as a kid haha. But, you guys this is really good the final two cards are the ace of sword , y'all know that's the truth, and four of pentacles so I feel in my heart chakra specifically a sense of calm and that everything is gonna be set right and you'll be feeling good and a there's a good amount about stability. 3. No Doubt !!!!

You guys might be family oriented, live with your family, I can pick up on some people's energy of a kind of busy household maybe the sound of pets nails on a hard floor (cute I miss that with having dogs )

Do not drink any open drinks at this time whoever I'm talking to you wouldn't expect this either you trust someone who would do something or you wouldn't expect it of the brand...or something I don't know I don't want to make anyone paranoid just keep your drink on you in your sight or drink unopened ones you know . I can also sense baked chicken I think or grilled you know when it's not fried or anything though ?? You think someone is loyal to you also if you have a dog this is significant. Im getting calm energy somewhat I think spirits around you are in that and trying to stay around you and have that energy around you :) honestly someone around you might be dangerous this isn't a matter of you getting paranoid this would , if it is true for you, be a matter of you coming to terms with something you've probably had hints about for a prolonged period. Maybe since you were young or it's multiple people even for someone else that this also resonates for. Y'all feel really cool like you investigate things kind of like a mystery vibe it's dope . Rainy days and cabins maybe you can dig that or that's what you give other people if they can read energy well. The things you might be into or interested in in the past too might be significant and spirit considered it to have been or be technically research y'all are really smart don't let anyone block you or stop you from anything ? . For real. Yep y'all are super cool and a smaller group y'all might have anxiety or any big or small issue you should practice breathing exercises. I feel like you guys have some good philosophy or mentalities in life like you know how to and when to go with the flow. Like picture floating down a river and it's to chill out then you're like alright now I gotta get up and out cause there's a rock that will hit me in three feet. Your intuition might make stuff easier . Sometimes your intuition might surprise you or it would if you pay attention you know. You may get a bit frustrated because you don't get to straight up know the future lol I can relate. To. That.

The movie ice age might have something to do with something or if you remember watching it at any point maybe the memory is significant??,

Or someone you remember watching it with for someone. The universe wants to give you what you want and need but you already seem like a generally content soul just with like yourself existing I noticed from the start this is a super chill group . You guys definitely see danger before it comes. Breathing exercises to the point of deep relaxation might be helpful. You're just not supposed to consciously know the future though I'm not sure why but I guess it would technically like by law mess it up possibly . Remember to be calm , at peace when doing any form of work but also remember work is play deep down just like deep down we're still the kids we once were when we were young , which is a good way to realize every person is not so different and I was going to say also that you should maybe focus somewhat on your relations with other people and your social interactions. Just to sharpen your social skills I guess. There looks like there's chaos around you but I don't see it touching you so you're good . Mellow vibes just enjoy the moment and work on patience and stuff maybe. Working would be beneficial you might get joy out of that even if it's building something or it could even be playing in the woods, going to the store, but I am also getting to go play outside and they want me to say like play like you could go pick up a stick and start digging in the dirt hell kinda sounds like fun . It's pathetic that people these days still think that superheros in media are dying.

But honestly, they just be cynical and rather focus bashing on stinkers like Madame Web, listening to grifters and revolutionizing any bad superhero film and say a stupid hot take and than give films Blue Beatle, The Marvels, any great and fun film an chance.

Echo and Peacemaker was good and I can't wait for new shows like Agatha, Penguin, Ironheart or any projects whether MCU or DC.

But I think people should give superhero cartoons a chance.

What if brought a endless possibilities to the MCU, bringing it's familiar characters in whole new perspective and gives a lot for the audience to explore the multiverse and wanting more.

Invincible is a show I did not expect, both gruesome and captivating pretty similar to a another Amazon show, The Boys.

But it wonderfully shows the ups and downs of a superhero, making it's welcome in the list of your shows that must be watched for the experience.

Also no surprise since it's based off a comic book created by the people who also made The Walking Dead.

My Adventures with Superman introduced a new version of Superman's world that actually feels bright and hopeful unlike the Zack Snyder films that try to bring but forgotten in the last minute.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur bring the titular characters in the spotlight, paving the way for a new black superhero with amazing diversity, colorful animation and character design and an addicting soundtrack like Black Panther and the Spider-verse films.

X-Men 97 is holy grail of all revivals and the one that beats the original. Back on my X-Men 97 review, I said that I haven't grow up on the original and due that I was born in 2002 but I started watching the original lately because of this show.

It's one of the best and refreshing marvel shows I ever watched, it felt like anything from the show has never left, but with an better style and unique writing that the writers should definitely be a part of the MCU's version.

I just love how we are introduce to a new era of animated superhero shows, with astonishing performances, amazing writing and peak designs.

Growing up from shows like Static Shock, Teen Titans, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Fantastic Four: Wgh and Spectacular Spiderman.

I was in for these shows when they got announced and hoped to see more shows like this in the future.

I hope you should give these shows a chance because animation is the backbone for superhero shows and media in general in my opinion.

Thoughts on The Outsiders Album

Okay, as I said yesterday, I have a LOT of thoughts on the album and I decided to revive this page so I stop bothering everyone IRL with my thoughts about it 😂 I figure there must be a good amount of people on tumblr who are down to listen to my rants about the album, so here goes.

I'll put it under a cut so there aren't any spoilers for anyone who hasn't listened yet, and I know there's one or two things which I've heard about the prouction via other posts and such. But I will stress that I haven't actually seen it, I've only listened to the album and obsessed over it 😂

I'm gonna go through the album sequentially, like track by track, because that feels like the thing to do, even though I will say right off that I definitely have more thoughts about some tracks than others. And I will also give my favourite line from each song. But for a just, like, general overview to begin with - I love the album so much?

I will fully admit that I was kinda preparing myself for it to be bad - it's a book that I love and I wasn't the biggest fan of the movie adaptation for a few key reasons, but I was so pleasantly surprised by the musical soundtrack.

I'm in love with the style of music, I love the entire cast (all of them have such different singing voices and styles and I think that they merge together so beautifully), and it has most of the things that I love in a musical - for me, it's got the right balance of the talking sections included with the singing, as well, which I know some people aren't huge fans of, but I might be biased because Soda is and always has been my favourite character and most of the talking is by him 😂 (I love Jason Schmidt, but we'll talk about that later), and as well as that the style of music and singing like gives me a good picture of what the actual choreography might look like, which I'm obsessed with, since I probably won't get to see it unless it somehow gets to the West End (🤞🏻)

Tulsa '67

Okay so this song is just like ✨exposition ✨ but it's done in a fun way, and I've decided it's worth it just for the finale reprise

I was also like stupidly emotional the first time I heard it and it opened with the opening line of the book

I was wary because of the immediate characterisation of Sodapop as being the brother "with a broken heart" (side note - does this mean Sandy broke his heart before the show rather than after it? I've goes QUESTIONS) - I'll go into it again when we get into Grease Got a Hold for obvious reasons, but I was worried that Soda was gonna be reduced into just being a womaniser again, which is something that bothered me about the movie adaptation

Favourite line: "all the girls are pretty there, and all the guys are mean"

Grease Got a Hold

right so it has no right to be as much of a bop as it is, it's been stuck in my head for the past week since it came out and I can't even be mad about it 😂

It's essentially just a typical "gang" song to introduce and characterise all the different members

Dally always saying "Little brother" got me so emotional like immediately

And I know I just said that I was upset with Soda's characterisation as a womaniser, but considering later songs, I will say I do find it really funny that he basically just goes "yeah I'm a greaser bc I love women 😊"

I LOVE TWO-BIT MATTHEWS - I would die for Daryl Tofa, just something soooooo good about the line he gives after Soda's verse

I have to admit, I was a little worried that they were gonna be pushing some anti-Darry propaganda, but I had no cause to worry, as he's an actual angel. Also it's so funny how fucking Done he is the moment he starts speaking

Something really funny about Steve not getting a verse, but something really sad about Johnny not getting one, but I don't have fully fleshed out thoughts yet so I'm gonna leave that there

But also there's just something about all of them trying to act tough, but all of them just have the voices of angels

Favourite line: "I'm a latch-key kid but they keep changing the locks" and also "you wanna be a fighter? then know just what you're fighting for"

Runs in the Family

I'm upset because this song has been such an ear-worm for me, but it's actually just so sad? There are a couple of these, but this is one of the main ones for me

It immediately makes Darry just such a sympathetic character - it's well documented that Ponyboy doesn't feel like he's enough of a greaser, but I don't think we talk enough about Darry is a reluctant greaser

Side note: but I'm really glad that they included Darry having dropped out of school to look after Soda and Pony, because that was kinda glossed over in the movie, which I felt did Darry a disservice

I just want to hug Brent Comer and tell Darry that he's doing a good job and everything will be okay 🥲

Favourite line: "I don't know what them boys would ever do without me - and what would I do on my own?"

Great Expectations

honestly this song deserves a post all of it's own, and maybe one day I'll do a full analysis of it

but in the meantime, it's fucking GORGEOUS, like Brody Grant has NO RIGHT to sound like this I'm so mad

THE FUCKING HARMONIES I WANNA SCREAM THEY'RE SO GOOD

One of the things I've loved about the soundtrack in general is how Pony in particular draws parallels and comparrisons between Johnny and the other greasers - here it's between Darry and Johnny, and I love it because Pony references in the book that he feels like he and Johnny are the outsiders in the greasers, he feels like neither of them really belong there, and they convey that so well in the musical with these constant comparisons in the songs and music

The continual return back to this idea of a self-fulfilling prophechy - trying to prove that they're not all the same just because they're greasers (like with the different verses in Grease Got a Hold), and this striving for individuality despite the overarching label they've been given

Favourite line: "It's hard to write this story, when this story's writing me"

Friday at the Drive-in

they all just sound so young - that's my main take-away from this song

I love songs in musicals like this where you're forced to be reminded how young the characters are and you have to humanise them a bit more - a bit like with "Drink with Me" in Les Mis

Also anytime that a soundtrack includes the dance-break it makes me so happy 🥲

Favourite Line: "Got no more stress, nothing to worry me - no more teacher's pet or trigonometry"

I Could Talk to You All Night

I need to say that I love this song, but the opening from Cherry is so fucking savage - like fucking hell there's no need to do that to Pony 😂

Again obsessed with Pony not feeling like enough of a Greaser

I'm a sucker for two people who feel lost in their own worlds finding each other and bonding because they can be themselves in a way that they can never be around their other friends

It's just such a pretty duet, and I want more of Brody Grant and Emma Pittman singing - we could have a million songs of the two of them and it wouldn't be enough

Favourite line: "I'd rather read then fight a rumble, but Greasers have to go along"

Runs in the Family (Reprise)

Dude it's such a serious song, and I'm obsessed that despite that there's just Soda being a little shit in the background

"I'll fold your laundry - I'LL FOLD ALL OF IT"

I love that even in this song it's like you can tell he's just so worried about Pony but it's coming out so angry and frustrated

So full of grief for the life he almost had

He's just so angry at Pony for still being able to dream, and it's like he feels like he needs to prepare Pony for real life, because he feels like he can't dream or wish for things anymore

And then just the screeching violin at the end of the song followed by DEAD FUCKING SILENCE, and then it switches to the next song where Pony starts singing acapella it's just herugighadlsiughukdhjsak, y'know?

Favourite line: "Whats the use in dreaming, about a life I'll never know? That ship sailed long ago"

Far Away from Tulsa

okay so I've already said that I'm obsessed with it beginning with Brody Grant acapella, and I know that the songs probably don't flow straight from one to the other in the actual production, but for the sake of the cast recording the effect is incredible

But also, there was absolutely no need to make this song so gay 😂 - Ponyboy, the bisexual icon we all need

It's very reminiscent of Santa Fe, with just kids dreaming for a life that they could have outside of their big city. Especially with the line "this place is real, it's not just in my head", which is VERY similar to "just be real is all I'm asking, not some painting in my head", but I'm okay with it because Brody Grant is incredible

But that line, as well as the one "'Ponyboy you're just a dreamer', that's what both my brothers say" are also really great links back to the previous song with the references of him being a dreamer, and that being what sets him apart from the other Greasers

I also just wanna say that I think it's criminal that there weren't more Pony/Johnny duets. Sky Lakota-Lynch and Brody Grant own my soul

Also catch me being emotional over Johnny's dream being wanting a family - he doesn't realise that he's already got one in the gang 🥺 (I could write an essay about this and Dally's continued use of 'little brother')

Run Run Brother

There's so much to say about this song, but I literally can't formulate the words, so it's probably gonna be one that I come back to and properly analyse later. so in the meantime, here are my key take-aways

right from the beginning, it gives just an "oh-shit" feeling, just so much urgency and desperation

All three of them have such different singing voices and styles and the combination of the three just makes me so happy and I don't even know how to like express what I'm feeling

Back to the thing about Dally always calling Johnny (and Pony, but we're emotional about Johnny here) "brother"

the music is just so fitting - I feel like I need to be up and moving every time I hear it, like if I ran ever this would be on the playlist 😂

And I'm going insane over the echoes of what has been previously been said - the "grease isn't given it's something you earn", and "let's leave this behind, let's just get up and go" like you're FORCED to face that they are being given what they want but in a really terrible way

Justice for Tulsa

okay so I know that this is a really important song and everything, but I will admit this is the one I tend to skip most

I will say I think this song would hit harder if they kept with the themes of police brutality that there are in the novel and movie with regards to Dally's death (going off what I've heard about the script changes from people who have seen it, I can't verify myself)

The song feels very claustrophobic, with everyone just trying to blame everyone else, which I think is really well done. Especially with the multiple voices coming in with "you know just what you did"

And it does show the bias of the world trying to blame the Greasers just by reputation alone, which is thematically nice

and also just the kinda mob mentality of the whole thing, especially at the end, with a declaration of war

Favourite line: "or we could send them back a message, take an eye for an eye"

Death's at My Door

I think I've seen somewhere that this is the opening song for the second act and I just - fucking hell, what an opener 😂 they really just wanna destroy all of us, huh?

EDIT: I've been corrected, and it's Justice for Tulsa that starts act 2 - my bad guys, I don't know where I saw otherwise. JfT starting act 2 makes soo much more sense 😂

I wanted to like reach through my headphones somehow and hug Brody Grant, like holy shit

The first time I heard it all I could think about was how much he's going to blame himself when Johnny (and Dally) do die - especially with Johnny having comforted Pony about it

And I'm just emotional about the exploration of Pony thinking of himself as a burden on everyone he loves, especially going back to what Darry says to him in Runs in the Family reprise, just confirming everything that Pony already worries about himself

Favourite line: "I don't believe in the death that you're bringing - the reason I'm living is you"

Throwing in the Towel

I just love brothers okay? This song made me want to like message all my siblings and tell them I love them

I loved that we see Pony's inner thoughts and fears about being a burden on his brothers, immediately followed by seeing Darry's own thoughts and feelings - the two of them being so similar in how they blame themselves for everything

All three of the Curtis brothers being terrified of losing anyone else

AND THIS IS THE SODA CHARACTER REDEPTION I NEEDED - he becomes more than just the womaniser, you can see him having like actual thought and feelings, and the amount of emotion in Jason Schmidt's voice as he's trying to reassure Darry, like this song and Soda's letter gets across everything that makes Soda my favourite character

And there's something to be said about how they're finally like communicating their emotions 😂

Favourite line: "I know your head is full of doubt, but brother that's what love is all about"

Soda's Letter

Musical letters my beloved ❤️

I love songs like these - they're always just so vulnerable

It links to Tulsa '67 Reprise with the reference to how Soda kinda keeps the family all together. This song you can like see the strain that it has on him, trying to keep the brothers who he loves so much together, by trying to tell Pony that Darry does love him even though he shows it in a very different way

also anyone who has seen it and made it this far in the post can you tell me whether they keep in the bit about Pony reading this really heartfelt letter only to go "Soda's so dumb he can't fucking spell" because it's all I could think about when I listened to it for the first time

Favourite line: "Your brother needs you just as much as you need him, and brother we ain't doing to good alone"

Hoods Turned Heroes

The triumphant return of my beloved Two-Bit, and he's doing some king shit

I love him, okay?

This is another song where I know it's really important, but I actually don't have much to say about it, other than I do really enjoy it

Favourite line: "It's time to celebrate Greasers, take pride in the Greaser name"

Hopeless War

I love that it's just Cherry begging Pony not to change, and hoping that he's still an outsider of the Greasers like she is for the Socs, a hope that the two of them are still kindred spirits even after everything that happened

She knows that the rumble is gonna be where Pony loses that last bit of dreamer in him because he's holding just so much anger at the world - I dunno, there's something there I'm sure 😂

it's such a smooth transition into "Trouble" and I wanna SCREAM it's so good

Favourite line: "even if you win, it doesn't change a thing"

Trouble

It feels like a war chant or something

The music is just so agitated

It's like Run Run Brother where I feel the need to be up and moving

Favourite line: "Do it for Johnny, even the scores, time to rally the crew"

Little Brother

I get chills every time I listen to it

Something about Joshua Boone's voice guys, I don't even know like how someone goes about beginning to talk about it, but whoever takes over as Dally has got some big shoes to fill

It's a lament to Johnny, and I feel like I listen to it and I feel the same anger and indignation that Dally feels

It's a song where I listen to it and I know, even without having seen the production, how I'd stage it and that always makes me excited

The longer the song goes on, the more uneasy you feel listening to it

It links him and Darry together again, with how he blames himself for everything that happened to his little brother, he feels like he should have been able to protect Johnny, the way that Darry always tries to protect Ponyboy

The final tempo increase and the discordant violin at the end, and it feels like even just listening to it you're watching him fall into a grief-led madness, and his certainty that there's only one way that his story can end

Favourite line: "They can't take anymore from me - if I ain't got you, then I ain't got nothing else"

Stay Gold

It feels somehow criminal to put these songs next to each other, but I mean obviously they have to be - that's how they want you to feel, but it doesn't mean that I'm not mad about it

I've listened to it like a million times and it still brings me to tears every now and then

There's something about having the hopelessness of "Little Brother", with Dally bring so apologetic at having failed Johny, followed by Johnny asking Pony to tell him that there's still good in the world

Just how much everyone in this story needs each other and they don't realise that the others need them too, yknow?

Johnny being Dally's "gold" - a lot to say about that but yknow, this is already long as fuck

The simplicity of the music itself (same as with Soda's letter - makes them thematically the same blah blah blah with them both being letters and all that), but it makes the song much more vulnerable than some of the others - nothing for Sky Lakota-Lynch to hide behind

Also that line: "I have looked into a thankful father's eyes, telling me I've saved his daughters life", and how that links to what Johnny says in the book about the little girl's life being worth more than his - I dunno, it just got me emotional, okay?

Favourite line: "I hold on to the good 'cause I've made my peace with all the bad" and also "It's easy to forget when you're trying just to make it through"

Tulsa '67 Reprise

WE MADE IT BOYS (seriously though, for real, if you made it this far, thanks for reading through my descent into madness 😂 and please send your own thoughts and such, bc I'm desperate to hear other people's thoughts)

I said it at the beginning, but I think the reprise of this song makes the exposition at the beginning worth it

At the beginning we hear Ponyboy as a dreamer, and at the end he still has that, but rather than idolising and making everything spectacular, he sees beauty in the mundane - he sees it in his brothers, his friends, all of that

The call backs to the original song as well, which allow us to go back to the theme of looking at individuality - the Greasers wanting to be seen as more than just characatures, and by the end they are like fully-fleshed out people rather than just the basic stock figures we initially get them introduced as in Grease Got a Hold

The clearest examples are, of course, Darry and Soda

Darry goes from being "could have been a football star, people say he had a ticket out" to instead being "the toughest guy I've ever known"

Soda goes from "suffers from a broken heart" to "this family's life and soul"

and then it goes from "got no parents, we fend for ourselves" to "can you imagine how proud mum and dad would be"

just something so beautiful about that, I dunno

There's more I could say about the themes of brotherhood and individuality ("grease as their disguise", for example), but I'll spare it for now

Favourite line: "Just too damn good for growing old, and in his memory I stay gold"

“Time to get up.” You hear someone call. The voice sounds familiar, deep and most likely male (you don’t want to assume). 

You open your eyes and see blue. You’re still groggy from Albedo’s tea so you can’t really stand. Someone picks you up, supporting you under your legs and you back. 

‘Hang on, if this is Mondstadt… the only man with blue here is.’ “Kae…ya?” You say groggily. 

“She speaks… or are you a he? Hard to tell.” He sets you down on a couch in an office.

“This is the terrorist Albedo gave us?” Lisa asks. You can’t quite move but you aren’t as tired as before. 

“We’ll have to tie… him? Her? …Ah up! Tie up the terrorist.” Jean says. 

“Them… I’m gender fluid. I go by them. Sometimes I’m a he, sometimes I’m a she. But my pronouns are always them.”

“Well, at least we’re getting answers.” Lisa giggles. 

You say as Kaeya binds your wrists and ankles with rope. You lean forward onto him and whisper to only him. “Tighter, daddy~” 

“Sky, where did you say that Light and Paimon ran off to?” Kaeya asks, embarrassed and blushing. 

“We’ve met Barbatos, they went off to find him.” Aether says. That’s right, the twins didn’t tell anybody their real names. 

“We’re back! And we’ve brought a friend!” Paimon cheers. 

“Obviously this goes without saying but no one can mention this man’s true identity, okay.” Jean states with a harsh tone that you’ve never heard from her before. Everyone nods, except for you. 

Venti walks towards you and you look at him. “Are you the one Celestia fears?” 

“I have no idea what that means.” 

“The descender, the honored one, the adored one. Do any of these names ring a bell?” 

“No?” 

“Do not lie to me! Albedo said-” 

“Why the F you lyin’~ why you always lyin’~” 

“…” 

“Sorry I have a tendency to reference memes and vines. I’m Gen Z, it’s a part of who we are. I’m kidding, I think that’s just me.” 

“So the Adored One has a name, Jen.”

“No that’s-” 

“And these “Me-ms” and “vines” must be your sacred texts! You’re a nature spirit aren’t you!”

“No! And for the record I don’t think you are a god!” 

“Wow, the honored one looks down upon me.” 

“Boys, Girls, and squirrels, listen up! Because I’ll only say this once. I’m not from this world. I want to go home. The world I come from none of you are real.” 

“Honored one, saying “Boys, Girls, and squirrels” doesn’t help your claim that you aren’t a nature spirit.” 

“Oh for Shucks sake. Actually can I swear in here? I don’t think so. Hell! Bullshit! Kaeya’s tight Ass! Lisa’s big boobies! Mmhmm boobies~” you start to laugh maniacally. “I need to be put in a mental hospital.” 

“Oh for the love of-” Lumine cuts herself off and goes up to you then shakes your. “Pull yourself together long enough for us to get answers.” 

“Right, right. I’m just a college kid who majored in computer science and engineering. The world I come from you all are a game and I hacked into your code which brought me here. That “Boys, Girls, and squirrels” comment comes from a YouTuber I watch semi frequently.”

“How’d you heal Stormterror then.” Aether asked. 

“The sustainer of heavenly principles gave me her powers.” 

“So… none of us are real?” Amber asks. 

“Well, I don’t know how I’d be here if you guys weren’t real but to me you’re just a game. Any of you can be killed and revived at the Statue of the Seven.” 

“I suppose that does poke holes in my credibility as an archon.” Venti twiddles his thumbs. 

“Can I please leave now? I can take Dvalin with me and we can just leave.” 

“I don’t think that’s a good idea. If Stormterror is still enraged we can’t let him destroy other nations. It could spark an all out war.” Jean says. 

“What if we let them stay at that broken down building?” Aether suggests. 

“I still think that we should keep Jen here just in case Stormterror gets any more ideas about attacking Mondstadt.” 

“So we use Jen as a bargaining chip?” Lumine chimes in. 

“Exactly.” 

“Okay if you guys are going to call me Jen can you at least make it Gen with a G? I want to be different.” 

“But Jean! Isn’t that basically asking Stormterror for a fight?” 

“Amber’s right Jean. If we’re going to keep them here we’ll need a plan to tame Stormterror.” Lisa says. 

“I’ll tame him.” Venti says assuredly. “We just have to keep them here long enough for me to calm him down.” 

“BARBATOS!” Dvalin calls from outside. “GIVE ME BACK WHATS MINE!” 

“Everyone! To your stations! Protect the city at all costs!” Jean shouts and everyone rushes from the room. 

“Shit! I have to get out of here!” 

“Master Jean! I’m scared!” Klee runs into the office. 

“Klee! Perfect timing, I’m your brother’s friend.”

“Your big brother Albedo’s friend? Why are you tied up?” 

“It’s a long story. Right now I need you to untie me so I can save everyone.” 

“You can do that? I don’t know, usually only bad people are tied up.” 

“No no! Klee it’s more complicated. You want to save Albedo and Jean and Kaeya, Lisa, Amber, Razor and everyone else right? Then you have to untie me so I can make Stormterror go away.” 

“How do I know that you aren’t lying?” 

‘If gold knows me. Chances are Alice will too.’ “Your mom knows me. I’m the adored one. You can ask her about me.” 

“Mom knows you?”

“Yeah, and you know about Albedos secret lab in the mountains right? I’ve been there. He told me about how much he cared about you.” 

“You’ve gone there?! You really do know Albedo. Okay!” She comes over and unties you. 

“Thanks.” You go over to the window, open it up and shout. “Dvalin!” He comes rushing to you at your cry and you jump out the window and grab onto his tail. 

He flies towards the woods and you land in a stone arena. “Andrius! I need a favor.” 

“What could the East Wind possibly want from me?” 

“Protect the Adored one at all costs. 

“How can this puny human be the Adored one?”

As the two bicker you quietly sneak away. As you climb out of the arena you stop when you see black boots and look up. 

“Who are you.” Diluc looks down at you. 

“I am iron man.” 

“Iron man?” Dvalin roses as he and Andrius start to brawl. 

“Can you get me out of here?” 

“Are you the one rumored to have healed Stormterror?” 

“Maybe.” 

“Come on.” He grabs your arm and hoists you up. He then picks you up and throws you over his shoulder and starts to run. 

“Hey! Am I just a sack of potatoes to you?” 

“Quiet down or they’ll hear us.” He runs and runs until you two get to a water bank. “Follow this past west and you’ll be in Liyue.” He tells you as he sets you down. 

“Oh wow. My own dark knight. How romantic. Well for saving the fair ward of the dragon you get a kiss, as a reward.” 

“No thank you.” He grimaces at you. 

“Oh come on! I was promised debauchery! You’re no fun.” 

“Just leave.” 

“Thanks for saving me! I’m coming back for that kiss though!” You say as you run off.

Creation was made to reconstruct Tubbo and to protect the eggs.

Both of these statements while technically right, are not the full story.

See, Creation actually only collects the data for the reconstruction, that he gives to “center control” which I find hella interesting.

It’s mentioned more than once, in relation to “Lower Ranks will be killed to save Higher Ranks” and “I will not be doing the hurting”

They said, “That would be for Center Control” and “We must find the data so then Center Control can reconstruct it.”

… WHO THE FUCK IS CENTER CONTROL HOE??

I think, Tubbo was a partner to the Federation— while not a worker— he was someone that knew the ins and outs of the federation as he was a main source of information and power.

I think the reason Tubbo got iced was because he found out about the eggs, and was iced for being too caring of them.

It makes sense to me, since there is no logical fucking way I can see q!Tubbo just building a whole revival and pocket-dimension-creating entity without SOME type of overpowered item. Which, just so happens, the Federation has.

He was deemed a wild card and got iced, NOT BEFORE, he created Creation and Center Control incase anything happened to him or the eggs.

I think Creation is tied to q!Tubbo’s psyche/mind, and created the ranking system off of that. While also always knowing where he is, and knowing when he’s died.

About what q!Tubbo is, I can’t say. Personally, I do think he’s flesh and bones, but the same way the workers are flesh and bones. Not human, never human, but not a robot either.

I’m still a fan of the chip-implant theory, that all the Iced have a ‘sleeper agent’ chip in them that the Federation uses to listen in and gather info, which would also tie into how Creation knows where Tubbo is at all time bc Tubbo hacked the chip to do so.

Plus, also ties in with the Original Islanders theory too!

Daryl Dixon Rewatch S1E01 - L'âme perdue

i have some thoughts, but before we get to it and explore the episode, i just wanna point out that the writing is what stood out for me. after seasons of mediocre writers and writing on TWD, it felt like a breath of fresh air. that ain't saying much, but it's a big improvement. also the cinematography, plsss!!

i will digress, this will be long, boring and full of spec for s2!!! read more after the jump...

the best part of it for me was Daryl. Daryl is finally using his words, keeping some things close to the vest he ain't no longer wearing, but he is actually speaking up, telling shit how he sees it, being his observant self, and not taking that religious crap bullshit they trying to feed him. he is also done with it all, and his goal is always and will always be getting back home.

"You deserve a happy ending, too." the ep starts with Judith voiceover, which is repeated in Daryl's feverish dream, and once again by Laurent. Carol isn't mentioned directly, but you can feel her presence throughout the episode. it's sort of a quiet energy that hangs in there whenever Daryl mentions he wants to get back home, he needs to use the radio, he needs to get to that possibly active port. and of course, her smiling face in his dream, with one of the last things he said to her "it's not like we are never gonna see each other again."

"witchy shit;" "dead priest and creepy kid," "you've been fucking with me," while putting his finger in Isa's face and storming out to borrow some cool weapons will always be hilarious to me, but it also felt like genuine Daryl is back. this is the Daryl we fell in love with. he is changed by his experiences, but he is still the OBSERVANT dude with the sass and zero tolerance for bullshit. i like this Daryl, so i will thank Zabel and Norman for bringing him back to us!

NOW let's get to the spec: i think the first episode tells us all we need to know about what is really set to happen, it's so in your face, you may not even notice and just assume they are talking metaphorically - i'm talking about the nuns, the nest, the kid, the whole conspiracy you shouldn't see coming.

for some reason it will probably never be clear, they think Daryl is the one, the messenger to deliver the new Messiah, and he's got an important role delivering the kid to the Nest, like he is the only one who can do it. i mean Isabelle watched Daryl fight and lose, and now she thinks he's Messiah's protector. PLEASE, bitch! maybe he is chosen simply because he is American, he made it across the Ocean, he must be special??? ok, i'll buy that.

now when Mother is dying she agrees Daryl is the one (to protect Laurent) and says "reasons are everywhere." YES, there's a reason Daryl had to come back to protect the kid, there's a reason he doesn't get on that boat to return home, too - and that reason is CAROL is coming. he cannot leave, she's coming to him, and i believe that TOGETHER they are the ones supposed to save Laurent.

WHY Carol, you ask? Daryl just may be to close to the Nest, their people to see them for who they are - some sort of cult who believes "the kid is the cure for a sick world," Mother's words. but how are they dangerous??

they literally tell you, if you're listening. the monk, possibly Losang, says the kid is special, says the kid is the NEW Messiah. Isabelle tells Daryl they need to take the kid there cause he needs safety, teaching and nurturing UNTIL he is ready. ready for what, Daryl asks. ready to be the new Messiah and lead the REVIVAL of humanity.

now Laurent said they had walker!Father Jean there because they were waiting for him to rise again. say what, kiddo? but Father can't rise again, cause he ain't special, he ain't the new Messiah. so there you go, i think the Nest, they're planning to turn Laurent and wait for him to RISE again (be the cure) with help from praying and poetry. maybe the good guys ain't so good.

and this is exactly why the kid is also valuable to Genet. perhaps she also wants to test whether the kid is special or not, knowing his history.

i can see Carol making it to France and figuring out their nefarious plans in like the first 5 mins. and that's why she needs to come to help save Laurent. that would pretty much bring their story full circle, and allow them to deal with the guilt and the trauma of not being able to safe loved ones.

(An Attempt at) A Maul Masterlist

hello folks! after seeing multiple requests in the tag for recs for Maul content or help finding Maul stories, I decided to make a list trying to do both for everything I've found because it took me a lot of searching to figure out what's actually out there for this man. and the answer is a lot, actually. So, hoping this saves others the time and the struggle, here's all the Maul stuff i've found along with what I would rec and why:

Episode 1 Adventures 3: The Fury of Darth Maul by Ryder Windham | junior novella

As far as I'm aware, this is the first published work for Maul. It's a junior novel about Maul carrying out a mission for Sidious, and it can be accompanied by a game book for a choose-your-own adventure. The novel itself though, is one of my favorite Maul stories because it defines his characterization for me.

The Wrath of Darth Maul also by Ryder Windham | junior novel

Maul's og origin in Legends. I think it's a must-read. This book was published alongside Maul's revival in TCW and seeks to reconcile his Legends background with that character by gathering his previous lore into one cohesive story. It notably includes and expands upon the events of the following three items:

Star Wars Episode 1 Journal: Darth Maul by either Judy Blundell or Jude Watson | novella A story that offers some of Maul's narration on his upbringing and his training with Sidious. "Darth Maul: Restraint" by James Luceno | short story Published in the second edition of Shadow Hunter (listed below), this story details Maul's time at Orsis Academy, the relationships he's forming, and his run-in with Mother Talzin. Great for showing his inner-conflict and devotion to Sidious. "Darth Maul: Endgame" also by James Luceno | short story This one is published in the paperback 2012 edition of TPM novel by Terry Brooks. It's an introspective piece that takes place after Qui-Gon, Anakin, and Obi-Wan escape Maul's attack on Tatooine.

Darth Maul: Saboteur also ALSO by James Luceno | short story

Originally published as an ebook, this story was also published in Shadow Hunter. It follows Maul on one of his first missions as a true apprentice of Sidious and shows his characterization when he's just outside that restrictive control. I really like this one for the Drama and the Subtle Characterization tm

Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter by Michael Reaves | novel

One of the two blessed full novels for Maul. In it Maul is on a mission to hunt down a target and has a very early encounter with the Jedi. This one is great for characterization and narration; I have it fully marked up with highlights, sticky notes, and bookmarks.

Maul: Lockdown by Joe Schreiber | novel

The second blessed full novel. So. Much. Fun. Maul goes to jail! Takes part in cage fights! Chases birds! Reveals the depths of his anxiety and need for attachment! Mystery and gore! 10/10.

"An Unwilling Apprentice" by George Mann | short story, found in the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge edition of Myths and Fables

Maul's canon origin. Personally, I Do Not See It.

Stories of Jedi and Sith - "The Ghosts of Maul" by Michael Moreci | short story in the listed anthology

I highly recommend listening to the audio book for this one if you can. Sam Witwer narrates it and it's fantastic. Love hearing Maul wail in despair. (and also love a man being haunted by his past.)

The next two are unique because they're re-tellings of TCW episodes. I like seeing how different writers interpret those events so I like them, but I don't know if that counts as something folks would want to read for Maul.

The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark - "Dark Vengeance" by Rebecca Roanhorse | short story in the listed anthology This one recounts TCW "Brothers" and "Revenge." I don't remember much specifically from it, but I do remember it being told as if to a small child, and I thought that was neat. The Clone Wars: Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracy by Jason Fry | junior novel Covers "Revival," "Eminence," "Shades of Reason," and "The Lawless." The author writes like they're obsessed with Maul's voice, and frankly, I don't blame them.

Comics:

Darth Maul (2000) by Ron Marz | comic series, 4 issues

Maul goes on yet another mission for Sidious (unsurprisingly, this is the basic plot of most of his Legends materials). Violence ensues. Maul is certified Cool.

The following two comics can both be found in the Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: Rise of the Sith Volume 1 and Star Wars Legends: Rise of the Sith Omnibus

Star Wars Tales 10 - "Nameless" by Christian Read | single comic, found in the listed issue, Star Wars Tales Volume 3, or the above 2 collections Maul is sent to kill a Jedi master. To do so and improve his prowess in combat, Maul constructs his infamous double-bladed lightsaber. Star Wars Tales 24 - "Marked" by Rob Williams | single comic, found in the listed issue, Star Wars Tales Volume 6, or the above 2 collections A comic about obedience and fear; Maul grapples with the thought that Sidious might take another apprentice.

The Clone Wars: The Sith Hunters by Henry Gilroy and Stephen Melching | graphic novella

It's very funny to me that this is considered Legends even though it features TCW Maul and Savage. This one takes place after TCW episode "Revenge" and I'm gonna be honest-- I don't remember a lot from this, but I do remember that it shows Maul's earliest days on Lotho Minor so that's sick luv u spidermaul 4 5ever.

Darth Maul -- Death Sentence by Tom Taylor | comic series, 4 issues; also found in Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Clone Wars Volume 2

Maul leads a revolution while trying to rescue his brother. The story takes place between The Sith Hunters and TCW season 5 "Revival," filling in some of what Maul and Savage were doing in that time.

Darth Maul (2017) by Cullen Bunn | comic series, 5 issues

Luke Ross and Nolan Woodard just get it okay. I love the way Maul looks in this series. In my head, this comic is the canon alternative to Shadow Hunter, where Maul confronts a Jedi early on, but the differences between his characterization in these two stores is the basis of my understanding of the difference between Legends Maul and canon Maul.

Darth Maul -- Son of Dathomir by Jeremy Barlow | comic series, 4 issues

This series is especially interesting to me because it's adapted from TCW season 6 scripts that weren't produced. It follows Maul as he's rescued by Death Watch after the conclusion of his arc in season 5, and shows his alliance with Talzin as they confront Sidious. I think it's great for fleshing out that relationship and that side of canon Maul's character.

Star Wars Adventures (2020) 3 - "Tales of Villainy: The Hostage" by Shane McCarthy and Michael Moreci | single comic, found in the listed issue or in Star Wars Adventures: The Light and the Dark

Maul allows himself to be captured in an attempt to bring another crime syndicate into the Shadow Collective. Is this one monumental? No. Am I unreasonably fond of it? Hell yeah. If you've seen that panel of Maul and Savage drinking at a diner, it's from this comic. Also has Maul in chains for those of yall that are into that.

Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle 1 - "The Horned Devil" by Cavan Scott | single comic found in the listed issue or in the collections Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle and Star Wars Adventures: Beware Vader's Castle

A "sPoOKy" story about Maul on Lotho Minor. Once again, luv u spidermaul 4 5ever. The cover art is fuckin sick.

Star Wars Visionaries - "Old Wounds" by Aaron McBride | single comic found in the listed graphic novel, in Star Wars Omnibus: Wild Space Volume 2, Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Empire Volume 4, and Star Wars Legends: The Empire Omnibus Volume 2

In this comic, Maul tracks Obi-Wan to Tatooine for revenge. Sounds familiar, but this was published in 2005, before Maul's revival in TCW. His design in that show, though, was based off of this comic, and his episodes in Rebels show a similar influence. I like this one because I think it's fun to see how his narrative was evolving as different writers took on the story, and to see the path from where he began in Legends up to his end.

Darth Plagueis by James Luceno | novel

Our man JL is back with more Maul... just not as the focus. If you're going to read one thing from this "Stuff Maul is in" list, let it be this one. Granted, it's a loooooooooong book, but it's really great for fleshing out the Plagueis and Sidious and Maul dynamic. Maul does have some sections of his own narration, but the best bit of this novel is seeing how Plagueis and Sidious see him. It also has some of his original Legends origin!

Queen's Peril by E.K. Johnston | novel

This book is about Padme! Who I love dearly, so I enjoyed reading it. Maul has a few sections of narration in it that show his canon headspace.

The first set of these is a mental collection I like to call "Legends writers just Try Shit" and it's a bunch of different ways Maul was brought back before TCW.

Star Wars Tales 9 - "Resurrection" by Ron Marz | single comic found in the listed issue, in Star Wars Tales Volume 3, or in Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Empire Volume 8 The Maul in this one has been resurrected by a dark side cult to be the true apprentice to Sidious. The story is mostly about Vader, but his duel with Maul is cool. Star Wars Tales 17 - "Phantom Menaces" by Joe Casey | single comic found in the listed issue, in Star Wars Tales Volume 5, or in Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The New Republic Volume 5 While on a diplomatic mission, Luke Skywalker is attacked by a hologram of Maul and goes off to investigate. This is the one I use to bless my friends with the cursed knowledge of Maul's brain in a tank. Star Wars: Jedi Quest 1 by Ryder Windham | first comic in a series, also found in Star Wars Omnibus: Menace Revealed and Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Menace Revealed Volume 3 Truth be told, I have not read this one because I can't find it for free. In it, Maul is a training hologram? I think? For Anakin? idk. There's also a novel series by the same name and I got annoyed looking for what isn't really Maul anyway.

Star Wars: Republic (1998) 40 - "The Devaronian Version, Part 1" by John Ostrander | comic in a long ass series, but the one you want is found in the listed issue, Star Wars Omnibus: Quinlan Vos: Jedi in Darkness, or Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Menace Revealed Volume 3

I don't know what this is about even though I have read it; Maul is in it for like 3 panels; he gets called "nasty boy" and makes someone wet themselves in fright. Obviously core reading for the Maul experience.

Jedi Council: Acts of War by Randy Stradley | comic series, four issues by the listed name, or in Star Wars Omnibus: Rise of the Sith and Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: Rise of the Sith, Volume 1

Once again, I do not know what this is about because I have a very difficult time reading comics when Maul is not there. And in this series he's there for < 15 panels. But he looks pretty when he is there.

Obi-Wan -- A Jedi's Purpose 2 - "A Shadow Falls on the Padawan" by Christopher Cantwell | issue of a comic series

This comic includes a brief scene showing Obi-Wan remembering his and Maul's final battle on Tatooine and commenting on Maul's mental state. Makes me super emo.

And finally, encyclopedia-type stuff!: (not necessarily stories, but has neat info-- especially because they show what was considered canon at the time of their publication)

Darth Maul: Sith Apprentice by Jo Casey and Catherine Saunders | children's reader

Yes, you read that right. But this kid's book has fun information about Maul based on TPM. I especially like the image call-out for his "heavy action boots." It brings me joy.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace: The Expanded Visual Dictionary by David West Reynolds and Jason Fry | what it says on the tin

The adult version of the above book. Shows the inside of Maul's lightsaber, which I love. Also still points out the heavy action boots. Clearly, they are a key component of the character.

And that's everything! There are some re-tellings of like, TPM, in novel or comic form but I was never super interested in those so I haven't read them.

Since I talked about Human Priest AU, I think I should talk about the Runner up too! Yet another AU with @fallenguitarhero

Amnesia AU

The basic premise is after Adam's death, when he gets revived in Hell, its as a Naked Idiot, thinking he'd just woken up from when he was put to sleep when they took his Rib for Eve. He doesn't know what this place is, why its Red and Hot, or why he's no longer in Eden. He awoke outside the Hotel so his first instinct is to look inside the strange structure and figure out what's going on.

(the rest under a Readmore cuz it got a little long and I don't wanna clog your dashes-)

Charlie thinks there's a new Sinner outside the Hotel and goes to greet him and instead met with a Very Naked Adam who doesn't seem to recognise her. Not wanting to let a confused and naked Adam wander Hell alone, she brings him inside and dresses him (poorly in a sheet) and tries to get to the bottom of it. Adam thinks she's an Angel since she looks so much like Lucifer, she must be one of his Angelic siblings, it's the only thing that makes sense.

He talks to her about his life in Eden, about how Lucifer is his best friend and he doesn't like Lilith because she doesn't listen to him so he gets in trouble with the Angels. About how they have started leaving him alone. About how the Angels say there's something wrong with him but once they do this thing that he was put to sleep for everything will get better! Lucifer said he would be there when he woke up, but Lucifer wasn't anywhere, why did he lie to him? But Charlie is nice, she listens to him. Usually the Angels dismiss him or ignore him, they don't care about his problems, but Charlie actually listens. The only other one to do that was Lucifer, that's why it hurts that he's been avoiding him-

Charlie of course calls her dad to come and help take care of this, she's Really out of her depth, she is Not equipt to deal with all this and she doesn't want to introduce Adam to the whole idea of Hell because, well, that's not her place. This has to be handled in a way she can't and by someone she's not. And when Lucifer does arrive, it takes Charlie only moments to see that Adam is completely In Love with her Dad. Who, for his part, is entirely oblivious. She feels almost Bad for Adam.

Lucifer ends up staying at the Hotel to keep an eye on Adam and it honestly doesn't take long for a relationship to start. Adam finds out from Charlie and Angel that being Gay is Okay, and that Lucifer is Bi. He doesn't understand much of what's going on, but he knows he's not in the Garden and he doesn't have the Angels' expectations placed on him anymore, he doesn't need to procreate and he can pursue what he wants. And what he wants is Lucifer. Lucifer for his part Isn't in Love, but there is something about how Adam is so innocent and earnest, how he makes Lucifer feel old but also feel like there's a way to start over, how he makes Lucifer feel wanted for the first time in many years. He may not be in Love, but he wants to make Adam Happy, he wants to take a chance on this Do Over.

Lucifer, despite not being in love, becomes a bit emotionally dependent and obsessed with Adam. He likes feeling needed, and he loves feeling wanted. It's helping heal some part of him that's been broken since his and Lilith's relationship started falling apart many years ago. Adam's mischievous, curious, and bright nature helps revitalize him in a way he didn't expect. And Adam is worried for him when he hits lows, he tries to cheer him up in whatever way he can think of. And having someone around during those times that shows how much they care does a Lot of good. Adam is his ESA.

There are a few things going on with Adam, though. First and Foremost, in a bid to keep him innocent, to avoid overwhelming him and to avoid making things Confusing and Terrible, they're trying to keep him oblivious to what this place Actually Is. They don't call it Hell, he shouldn't Know what that is. He doesn't know about Sin in that way and they don't want to introduce it to him like that. He's not allowed to go out unless it's with someone Trusted (Mainly Lucifer or Charlie, but that does eventually extend to Angel and Vaggie.) It would be hard to explain what happened to Humanity, why things are the way they are. It's not an easy thing to keep covered up. But it's not something they can hide forever, especially because of the next point.

He is slowly getting his memories back, reliving his personal traumas, the feelings of betrayal, the emptiness, the loneliness, the bitter hatred. He'd have memories of Feelings, hating the color red, feeling some level of bitterness and resentment towards the man he Knows he loves, etc but he never had any context for them. But he slowly gets them back. But everything is getting recontextualized, he has support from Lucifer and Charlie and other people at the Hotel. It's still difficult to deal with the memories and feelings, but he's not dealing with them alone and he feels genuinely cared about, it makes all the difference. Lucifer asks him if he believes he loves him, because by the time enough of these memories resurface, Lucifer does love him and Adam had never questioned it. So its hard when he genuinely answers he doesn't know. But it's okay, they can work through it together.

But aside from his memories coming back, Adam is also dealing with the much more physical problem of transformation. His blood is still gold, he's a Fallen Angel, even if he doesn't have the context of it. And gradually his body changes. His Fallen form doesn't quite reflect his Angelic form as he started as an almost blank slate. He's becoming a Catboy, or Lion Boy specifically, a kemonomimi type with more cat mannerisms. It's chalked up to the eventual corruption of anything residing in Hell, but it's part of his fate as a Fallen Angel. Lucifer isn't complaining and Adam is getting scritches and pets so he really has no complaints either.

There are a few other points and thoughts, but this is the general overview of it-

He keeps looking for Eobard subconsciously, can feel when he's there, his presence alone is able to trigger Barry's memories of past and future lives.

And look, Eobard was right there!

When he finds Eobard dead, Barry spends time with his body in the morgue struggling over how he died, what might have hurt him, observing that "whatever got him must have just slowed him down" (all the while softly whispering to and gently touching Eobard's body).

I can never not be insane over how tenderly he's caressing Eobard's forehead. Might I add that he spends just so much time in the morgue that he's late to his own birthday party. Might I also add that whatever Barry did in that morgue, it brings Eobard back to life.

This man literally told his nemesis "come back to me", and Eobard obediently did.

The last panel, that's Eobard's powers reactivating as he's revived, moments after Barry left.

.Exhibit C!

When Godspeed starts killing people, including the woman Barry was dating, Barry is shocked but keeps being willing to forgive if August is willing to stand down. Barry gets beaten up and humiliated and still worries for August, trying to appeal to his rationality and compassion.

But then August makes the mistake to threaten to find Eobard (who at the moment is being tortured a prisoner in Iron Heights), and kill him in front of Barry's eyes. And if Barry has been rational and willing to stop fighting, after the umpteenth time August tries to get to Eobard he loses his entire shit, grabs August by his head and neck and is just about to kill him, in a scene which is a direct parallel to when Eobard forced him to break his neck.

That's apparently what Barry does when someone insists on threatening to kill the people he loves and make him watch. He doesn't kill August of course, but he gets close to it - the moment Barry lets him go August is unconscious for lack of air, he was being choked to death even without the neck breaking part. All because he had threatened to murder Eobard.

This is Barry breaking Eobard's neck to protect Fiona, Barry's fiancee at the time, after he's been incessantly threatened to be forced to watch as he kills her. He did not want to kill Eobard, he felt extremely guilty to the point that now, having killed him is one of his worst nightmares, but he was essentially forced to do it (why Eobard did this to make himself get killed is another interesting and unhinged story for another time). So as you can see, this is how Barry reacts when he gets threatened with the death of someone he loves.

And this also is Barry reacting to the threat of a speedster killing someone he loves.

I am in awe with the parallels drawn between these two panels. The same font and stile has been used for Barry's "Not again!" and "No!", and there is the same brutality coming from someone who 99% of the time tries everything but violence to solve any kind of situation. He's entirely out of his mind when he does this.

IN CONCLUSION

Somehow, IDK HOW, Barry does reciprocate in some form. At least in Joshua Williamson's run he does.

...I actually have my theories on the how, which entail these two being each other's lodestone, being irremediably connected through time and space, and Barry having been loved&desired so much and so strongly for so long, both outwardly and through the natural connection of their powers, that at some point he just... started feeling back.

"But Thawne killed his mother!" LISTEN. I KNOW. I think Eo is as confused by this as you and I to be honest. And that's also something about Barry which is very fascinating imo: he will love in spite of everything.

Even if the other person doesn't understand it, even if it makes no sense, even if BY ALL MEANS HE SHOULDN'T, even if he hurts, he will still love and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Luckily for Eobard, because there is no one else in the omniverse that ever loved him, and likely ever will.

The blind date

The end of August is always the time where y/n desperately tries to hold onto her last moments of freedom before going back to the east coast. 

Sometimes she doesn’t understand why she decided to stay in the city, most of her friends attend school in the west coast and she always regrets deciding to stay in her comfort zone. Especially when she has to say goodbye. 

So, when y/n receives a text from her friend telling her that they were going to meet her boyfriend and his best friend for lunch, y/n excitedly replied with a bunch of smiley faces after receiving the details. Of course, she never had a clue on who she would be meeting, or what her friends intention of lunch would actually be. 

As y/n climbed out of the Uber and stretched her shoulders against her sweater blouse, deeply regretting her style choice as she revived a text from Wren, the ding making her stop in her tracks. 

Wren: running late, I think they’re already at the table!

Y/n groaned, hating that she’d meet two people she didn’t even know, without her bubbly best friend at her side. She huffed and yanked on the restaurant door before peering into the dining room, the air conditioning instantly calming her nerves. 

“I think my party is already here, Maybe under the name, Wren?” y/n said to the host who glanced at the reservation book.

“Yes! I just sat someone from your party. You can follow me, miss.” the host said cheerfully making y/n smile and follow in the younger girl’s tracks. “Enjoy!” 

Y/n pressed her lips together as she noticed that only one person sat at the table, his back facing her as she thanked the host. 

She cleared her throat as she grabbed for her chair, catching the man’s eye causing him to peer up at her and instantly stand. 

“Hi, you must be y/n.” he said, extending his hand out for her to shake.

“Hello.” she gave him a tight lipped smile before sliding down into her chair. “I guess we beat them to it!” she chuckled dryly.

The man scratched the back of his neck and chuckled, looking around the restaurant before nodding towards y/n. “I don’t know why they’re not here yet, it’s not like there’s any traffic.” he said. "Umm.. I’m Evan by the way".

Y/n smiled, her eyebrows raising as she looked at her phone screen to see if Wren had texted her. "I’m y/n, it’s nice to meet you.” 

y/n: WHY THE FUCK DID YOU NOT TELL ME AN ACTOR WAS COMING TO LUNCH?!?!?! ALSO WHERE TF ARE YOU????

“I just texted Wren to see where she is.” y/n said trying to sound as nonchalant as possible. 

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down even though a literal actor was sat in front of her, an actor, who she’d yell at through the screen as she watched him portray many roles. Some more swoon worthy than others. Some, just down right scary and made her stomach all queasy.

She tried to hold in a laugh as she remembers cursing at him on multiple occasions, throwing her popcorn at the screen and groaning loudly at his actions that unfolded through the show. “Asshole!” was a common name she’d call him, for obvious reasons. And, of course she tried to push away the memories of her blushes and squeals she'd let out too.

Evan nods as he reached for his drink as his phone starts to buzz against his jean pocket. He shuffled around in his seat as he digs around for it, showing y/n the screen to reveal that it’s his best friend that was supposed to meet them. 

Y/n sat there awkwardly, twiddling her thumbs as she watched him answer the call, she watched his face deadpan into a grimace, his eyes widening as she heard laughing on the other end. “What the fu-” Evan grumbled before his best friend suddenly hung up and left Evan holding out his phone in complete shock. 

“What?”

“They’re not coming.” Evan clears his throat. 

Y/n furrows her brows, shaking her head as she looked around trying to see if they’re on some pranked reality tv show. “What do you mean, they’re not coming?” she questions, annoyance dripping from her words causing Evan to glare at her slightly. 

“They set us up. That’s what I mean.” 

Y/n scoffs, folding her arms across her chest as she shakes her head at him, knowing that her best friend would never do this to her. 

Wren would never- well… maybe she would. No, of course she would do this to y/n! Wren knows how utterly, embarrassingly single y/n has always been, and what better way to humiliate her. 

y/n: you BETTER call me NOWWW and make up an excuse for me to leave!!!!!!!

y/n: WRENNN YOU FUCKER 

y/n: I HATE YOU THIS IS SO AWKWARD😭😭😭😭

Before Evan and y/n could even decide on their next moves, the waiter approached the table, notepad in hand, asking the pair If they’d like to order. 

Their eyes meet and they both huff out, shrugging as Evan lifts his hand top from the table. 

“I mean.. I don’t know about you but I’m starving.”

“I guess I could eat..” y/n shrugs, holding up her menu. “I’ll have four spicy shrimp rolls with spicy mayo.” she says to the server. “Thanks.” 

“Hmm, make that eight.” Evan says before looking at y/n, “Do you mind?” 

She hums and shakes her head no while making him smile and hand his menu to the waiter before they walk away after taking y/n’s. 

Evan leans back into his chair, running his palms against his thighs as he studies y/n. He notices her heart shaped lips, and her hair that is perfectly tucked into a ponytail. 

He can’t help but notice her manicured nails as she twiddles her thumbs, noticing how her eyes scan the restaurant, and how quiet she is as she just sits there, almost like she’s waiting for him initiate the conversation. 

“Aren’t you hot in that?” Evan finally asks.

Y/n blushes, resting her chin on her wrist as she glances at him from across the table. She bites her tongue from snapping at him for a reason unknown to her. 

Maybe he seem’s a little too cocky, and maybe its because he’s an actor, so why is he even still sitting here with her? she thinks. 

“No.” It's never too early for autumny cardigans. August is basically the open door to pumpkins and even more spice.

Evan nods, tapping his foot under the table as he sighs, watching as she shifts in her seat awkwardly. “Soooo…” 

“Soo.” 

He clears his throat and bites the inside of his cheek, before reaching for the pen that’s in his jacket pocket. “Wanna play a game?” 

Her ears perk at his question as she nods questionably while she watches him pull out the pen and slide one of the napkins in front of him. “We each write something on our napkins that describe us.” she suggests. 

Y/n gives him a funny glance but nods as he smiles at her, his playfulness making her eyes gleam as she watches him cover his napkin from her view. They both laugh lightly as he gives her small glances trying to shield his writing from her. 

“Okay, my turn!” y/n says happily as Evan hands her the pen before he folds his napkin so she can’t see what he’s jotted down. 

Time passes between the two like a blink of an eye, y/n and Drew coming to the realization that maybe they don’t mind each others company. 

Maybe Evan’s jokes make y/n’s heart flutter a little too much, and y/n’s smile make Evan’s cheeks turn a deep pink without him even trying to hide it. 

They talk and talk for what seams like hours as they eat their sushi rolls, inevitability ordering seconds and thirds, with dessert following behind. 

Their little game had been long forgotten because of easy conversation and a little competition of who can eat the most sushi rolls without taking a break or drinking water. 

“Well, this is the best blind date I’ve ever been on.” Evan says as he pulls out y/n’s chair.

“This was the first one I’ve been on so obviously I’m impressed.” she responds making him bump his shoulder against hers playfully, causing them both to laugh loudly as they make their way out of the restaurant. 

“Hey! we forgot about the game!” Evan suddenly says making y/n turn to look up at him. 

“How about we look at them when we go our separate ways… and if I like what you wrote, maybe I’ll challenge you to how many ice cream scoops you can eat without getting brain freeze.”

Evan lets out a laugh causing y/n to blush, “Deal!” he said handing her his napkin. “I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.” he says quietly.

“I wouldn’t doubt it. I’ve been pleasantly surprised this whole time.” y/n blushes. 

Evan sucks in a breath, leaning towards y/n and smiling at their substantial height difference. He feels y/n’s cheeks flush as he presses his lips against her soft skin and lets them linger for a second too long causing y/n’s eyes to flutter closed. 

“Until text time then. Hopefully.” he whispers before backing away.

“We shall see.” y/n teases before hugging him goodbye. 

Y/n watched Evan walk down the street, his hands in his pockets striding further away from her. She takes a deep breath and looks down at the napkin and opens it, her lips lifting into a sweet smile as she reads what he’s written down. 

She sighs knowing that she’s already got it bad, she admires his handwriting and his personality in his writing even more. 

“I love rainy days with a blanket and a cup of coffee and a book”

Wow! I loved that! Can I request a Part 2 of the Eri Reader with Platonic Yandere God and Human Fighters?

How does Thor, Zeus, Sasaki, Jack, Shiva, Buddha, Qui Shi Haung and Beelzebub feel about Reader using her Power to rewind their Opponent from Death? And how does Lu Bu (You don’t have to do him again if you don’t want to), Adam, Poseidon, Hercules, Raiden, Zerofuku (And I guess Hajun), Hades and Nikola feel about Reader rewinding them from their demise? (I don’t doubt Adam would feel incredibly honored that one of his children saved him, but incredibly worried over her health now that she’s suffering a high fever) it doesn’t help that a lot of Deities desire to use Reader for their selfish interest and would try to kidnap her (Which fail)

Reader mostly spends her time with the Valkyrie Sisters who are eternally grateful to her because they also rewinded them too from death (Goll is sobbing hysterically thanking Reader) who all like to dote on Reader with love, affection and treats

I love Eri SO much (She’s so perfect and her smile must be protected at all costs)

-You didn’t like this tournament, your family was fighting against each other, hurting each other, killing each other!

-You didn’t like it when Thor killed Lu Bu, you had brought him back, but cried for hours as you had thought that you had lost him.

-So many wanted to call this whole tournament off, seeing the anguish it was causing you.

-After each fight you would use your quirk to bring back the fallen opponent, as well as the valkyrie if a human was the one killed, doing it in the privacy of Zeus’ viewing room, as you were still being hunted by other deities, who want you for their own selfish reasons.

-However, with each person you brought back, your body was getting weaker. You would get a fever after each revive, each one worse than the last.

-Adam was nearly beside himself, in tears as he held your little hand at your bedside, Zeus sitting nearby, getting patched up, feeling guilty as well that he was the one who made this tournament.

-Poseidon stunned all when he held you himself after you brought him back, holding you to his chest, listening to your breathing as Kojiro sat next to him. Poseidon had to admit to his former opponent, “You were quite strong human-err Kojiro.” Kojiro put a hand on the god’s shoulder, comforting him and Poseidon stunned everyone again by not saying anything.

-The fever you got bringing Hercules back was one of the worst, as you made it worse by sobbing so much that the valkyries in the infirmary actually had to sedate you and knock you out.

-Hercules cried as he held you when you woke up, clinging tightly to him as apologies fell from his lips like a mantra. Jack was so indebted to you, bringing Hercules back, hugging you once he was able to get you away from Hercules for a moment, his hug was so warm that you actually felt yourself dozing off.

-Shiva felt awful, making you cry, he felt so much regret as you ran to him, crying to see him in so much pain, using your quirk on him first. Once his arms were back, the first thing he did was hug you with all four of his arms, clinging tightly to you as he sobbed, apologizing.

-His family was quick to join in, including Rudra and the other strongest of the Hindu gods, giving you more family members.

-Raiden was silent as he held you to his chest, wearing a yukata as you were working through another fever, an IV in your arm as you were dehydrated from crying so much and from the fever.

-Buddha felt guilty, unable to face you after he had to kill Hajun, after he took over Zerofuku, killing Zerofuku along with him. You were the one to seek him out, Brunnhilde taking you to him, and he cried as you cupped his cheeks, comforting him when he should have been the one comforting you.

-Hajun and Zerofuku were now two separate beings, nobody was really sure how it happened, but they didn’t care. Zerofuku picked you up, once your fever was gone, spinning you around, holding you up above his head, your bright giggles filling the air.

-You were a little shy meeting Hajun, as he was new, and very large and a little intimidating looking, but he was so gentle with you, picking you up and hugging you to his chest, thanking you softly. Your little hands on his cheeks brought him so much happiness as he closed his eyes, allowing you to do as you wished, silently swearing his life to you.

-Qin Shi Huang knew regret, he had so many things in his life that he regretted, making you cry quickly topped the list as he held you tightly, sitting with you next to Hades who was just waking up in his own infirmary bed.

-Hades immediately called a meeting, absolutely furious that they all were putting you through something so traumatic.

-The gods who were after you were getting bolder, trying to break into the infirmary while you were resting, but those you brought back were guarding you fiercely.

-Beelzebub and Tesla were the last fight of Ragnarok, after you brought Tesla back, you immediately collapsed, your heart rate slowing from your fever.

-Tesla was the one who remained by your side, monitoring your vitals until Beelzebub came in, severely bandaged up and Tesla helped his friend to your bedside, to sit with you as well.

-Beelzebub couldn’t help but tear up, seeing you in such a state, feeling just a pure love for you, wanting to see you awake and happy again.

-The strongest gods immediately called a stop to the tournament while the valkyries were working hard to stabilize you, deciding that, as gods, they needed to step up and do what they should have been doing all along, managing the humans, guiding them, protecting them, and only punishing those who needed it.

-Many were annoyed at first, wanting to see more carnage, until the gods who had fought gave impassionate speeches, hyping up the gods to be the gods they should have been all along.

-The humans were quickly fired up, hearing the gods declarations, which shocked the gods but made them feel honored that the humans believed in them to help them, giving each other a second chance.

-Goll was the only one with you when you woke up 4 days later, crying harshly, but she was happy as she hugged you carefully, “They stopped the tournament! They’re not going to fight anymore! My big sisters and all of the gods and humans are safe!”

-You were quickly in tears again, hugging her tightly as she laughed warmly, the two of you celebrating that nobody else was going to be lost.

-Goll opened the infirmary door, once you were cleared, but given strict instructions to not use your ability for at least a month, which you pinkie promised to the nurses, after Goll told you what a pinkie promise was.

-Your eyes went bright, seeing Odin first and you immediately ran over, and he grinned softly, kneeling down as you leapt into his arms, no longer afraid of him as he held you tightly, a sigh of relief leaving him before he ruffled Goll’s hair affectionately, “C’mon, let’s go see the others.”

-You nodded and your face lit up when you saw everyone waiting for you, Odin setting you down and you ran for Tesla, as you hadn’t gotten to see him after you brought him back.

-He laughed warmly, kneeling down and catching you in his arms, hugging you tightly before he grabbed Beelzebub, pulling him forward and you hugged him around his knees, making him chuckle softly, patting your head.

-Ares picked you up, putting you up on his shoulder, “Come see all the hard work we’ve done, Y/N!” as they all headed out to the Greek pantheon, so you could see that gods were doing their jobs, helping humanity like they should be, working together.

-Zeus ruffled your hair gently, “It’s all because of you, Y/N, you inspired us to get off our butts!” your eyes sparkled up at him, “Because of me?” he immediately collapsed, holding his chest, unable to handle your cuteness as many others laughed at his antics as your family was quickly all praising you for your hard work in helping humanity, making your cheeks turn a bit red, bashful at their praise, but you couldn’t help but smile, feeling so happy.

"Hello, hello, my dear listeners! Your dear radio host Alastor is here to give you, once again, the most warming welcome to your favorite station here in our splendid town of Hazbin Vale. It's truly quite a pleasure to being back on the air after that rather unfortunate murder that happened near the studio.

Yes, indeed, truly unfortunate that an unruly teenager didn't pick a better target to pick on late at night when some individuals want to just grab some milk at the gas station and had to live the consequences. But is exactly as they say, my friends; you reap what you saw and that night the scythe of death must have felt a little bit… impatient than usual.

But there's no need to worry about that! I am sure that the thirst for death has been quench for now and there won't be any other danger on the horizon. You see, I am just cursed with an unbearable optimism, dear listener, so I am sure that you will be going home without no worry or concern in your tender, warm, little hearts tonight. Back to your lovely families who all can let a sigh of relief because there is nobody outside watching through the window. Or are there? I would close the windows and keep the lights out, just to be safe.

Back again to our waste of youth, I mean, our dearly departed young delinquent, I think I saw their foot sticking out from behind the counter at the gas station when I pased this morning. The police must have been too busy picking up all the other pieces that they missed it! If any of our valiant police officers could take care of that so the whole body could be put underground that would be lovely. For the family, of course!

I actually tried to get some comment from the police chief Husk to give you all, but someone must have skipped on their greasy filled donuts breakfast this morning because the old man Husk just shush me away, insisting that they were already taking care of everything.

Truly, how rude is that? Has the police never heard about such a thing as freedom of press? Outrageous, I tell you that! But even though I could stay and argue for my civil rights, as I had every right to do, dear listener, I instead walked away to my radio tower while humming to myself our last hit of yesterday, "Murder on the dance floor!" I don't know why I got that particularly melody stuck in my head so much.

Oh, nevermind that. For whoever may care, or be morbidly curious about it, the service for the body will be tomorrow at 9 AM in our local church. Despite the many flaws of her offpring, his mother is a nice lady that knows to stay quiet when it's convenient for her, so please, send her my most sincere condolecencies if you happened to see her. I believe she was planning to move out of town right after putting her son to rest, as she told me herself this morning on my way here. Since of course I had to make sure that she was in a good state of mind and wasn't causing a ruckus trying to say to the police things she shouldn't have.

Poor woman. I can't imagine what it must feel like to have such a loss. The sense of relief to have one less mouth to feed can be overwhelming. She will surely be missed, whatever her name was!

In other less satisfying news, the universe truly has it's own way to balance everything because as soon someone was out, someone else is comming in. That is right, dear listener, while I was having my morning stroll I happened to hear all about our new resident in town that moved to the old abandoned house at the outskirt of everything. From what I could gather by the power of people's gossip, this man is a inventor who primarly makes toys and has made a considerable fortune out of it. How nice.

He plans to revive the toy store that had to shut down two years ago when that whatisherface rude clerk was slaughtered in a particularly hilarious manner there and the cowardly owners ran away. We all remember that incident. They never did find her delicious soft hands, did they?

Another tragedy that we all mourned together, indeed. The closing of the toy store, that is. The youth does really need space to entertain themselves in a safe and controlled environment. Maybe if some teenagers had something like that growing up, they wouldn't have ended up on the ground, ha ha!

Who knows, it could even revitalize a little bit of the spark this town used to have. Now everyone is so afraid and paranoid, talking about all these sudden and inexplicable attacks as if they were worth mulling over rather than an inevitability of life. As if thinking about it is ever going to stop a knife directed to the throat. A waste of time if you ask me.

So a nice change of pace might be exactly what we all need! I heard that this inventor even brought along his own daughter, that should be starting in preschool for the next week if I am not mistaken. I haven't been able to meet the man yet, but it sounds like at the very least could be interesting for three whole minutes if I am lucky. Five if a miracle happens. Oh, along with my optimism, I have also been cursed with too high expectations, it seems.

What I can say? I am a dreamer at heart.

Ah, new blood is always rather exciting, don't you think, listener? Me, I am not particularly fond of children, especially the rude ones, but I am nothing if not flexible to whatever changes may come our way and my curiosity is always killing. That is how the saying goes, isn't it? Ha ha, we have a lot of fun here, don't we?

I've been noticing this the last few episodes of CR3, as they are talking about the gods losing power as they lose followers, and I recall that you'd either made your own post, or reblogged a post, that seemed to be arguing that there's no evidence that the Exandrian gods need followers to have power. However, it seems that Bell's Hells (or possibly the players) believe that the gods would be afraid of the information of Aeor coming out because they would lose followers and therefore power. Is it established in Exandria that the gods draw power from their followers directly? Or is it more that losing followers loses them the ability to influence Exandria? Love all of your analysis and meta by the way! I've also enjoyed your brief posting about Dragon Age Vows and Vengeance! Dragon Age is what brought me to Tumblr and then a round-about way to Critical Role, so it's fun to see you posting about my first interest!

Hi! Re the gods losing followers, I think in reality this would only have an effect on their ability to influence Exandria from behind the Divine Gate. The lore goes back and forth (and I'm away for the weekend so I don't have copies of all the lore books at hand/admittedly don't want to spend a ton of time) re: how Sarenrae's power was diminished through loss of followers, but as we saw in Downfall it's certainly not immediate in terms of raw mechanical power, and if she lost power between then and the revival of her worship in the early 800s, we've seen no lasting effects, so they can certainly withstand a drought.

I think if I were to put it more kindly than I have in the past, Bells Hells, especially those of them expressing this belief that the gods are afraid of this information coming out for this reason are not terribly learnèd in Exandria theology and are merely making a guess. Some of those members of Bells Hells also strongly believed the gods would kill them for this information, and the Arch Heart had a golden opportunity to do so, not to mention that the gods on Exandria must act through followers and the party just said quite a lot of things in a Vasselheim council and spent two nights in a temple of the Wildmother and the home of a Platinum Dragon devotee without an assassination attempt. I think we as the audience should treat "what Bells Hells thinks will happen" as separate from what will actually likely happen.

This is a separate post, perhaps for my train ride home this evening, but I get a lot of questions that are essentially "how do I enjoy a podcast when I struggle to listen to podcasts" and I have long been dealing with the feeling of "I'd like the story and puzzle aspects of video games if I had the resources and time, but I own a very average non-gaming laptop, no consoles, and probably don't have the time" and so it's been great to have the opportunity to experience a video game world that sounds interesting to me in a medium I'm able to access.

I'm sorry I have quite a chaotic music taste so I won't guarantee that you'll like this one but this song heavily reminds me of Adam, it just gives major Adam vibes to me.

Listening to the lyrics, this whole "idolization" of him, people admiring him, the "First Man" like some celebrity while not really knowing much about him (and his flaws). I don't think I have to overexplain this, basically what the society does to every popular person.

Then, this whole being dead but also being alive/revived thing matches him so well too. As the first human, even though he had a long life on Earth and others died before him, death still must be quite a foreign concept for him, or at least I can imagine that. Especially after he died and got into Heaven as the FIRST ever human soul. Being the only dead person somewhere for so long can easily make one forget that they're actually dead lol. Also, the lines "Look, it's you, good as new, new hands, new throat, new living tissue" just straight up remind me of him getting into Heaven, earning his "new" angelic body in the afterlife, being dead but still being able to feel alive.

The phrase "Lifetime achievement award" itself can also match him if we interpret it differently. Him being the first ever man in heaven, who stayed "pure" (didn't eat the apple and didn't sin), he earned Heaven like an award by staying pure and worthy through his whole lifetime on Earth.

Oh anon you don't have to apologize, thank you for including your reasoning! It absolutely helps me seeing your vision yessss. First of all, what a chaotic song, I kinda love that, I actually do have a couple songs that remind me of this in a way.

Anyway it really is an interesting parallel to Adam being the first man and the "perfect human" and all that, I think it's fascinating that we try to comprehend how Adam's mind would work given that he is the first human, the first soul in heaven, etc etc. We often see immortal people in fiction eventually going insane for that reason, and Adam isn't really sane or anything lol but not in the same way that people in fiction tend to get. Adam's relationship with death is probably way different than ours, he understands it differently from us, even if he did know what death was, like you said, it's been a loooooooong time since then.
