AFOS-BASIC
As of this writing I am commissioning yet another project. An interpreter for the BASIC programming language. AFOS stands for Android Free Open Source.
My goal is to have something to work with in experimenting in language design. It has to be useful yet simple to implement hence the BASIC language fits in nicely.
I am going to make this is a gift to the F-Droid community. They only host one BASIC interpreter. They used to have more but somehow those projects fled or eroded out. I did see several in the play store.
The usefulness of this project:
(1) To have a programmatic access to the Android OS. Ya know, something similar to BASH and Python scripting.
(2) To provide something similar to P5.js or the Processing programming language. The idea there is to play around with the drawing routines available to the browser. Useful for simple data visualization. An example case is an algebra student trying to get visuals to some equations. Plenty of YouTubers use it for their videos.
(3) Allow kids who are curious to learn programming. The same audience Microsoft Small BASIC is targeting. Give them the ability to make simple games.

“The problem that Eri's quirk brings to the stakes of the entire manga is an issue that would require its own post.”
I doubt I’m the first one to ask this: can we please see that post?
Believe it or not anon, you were the first to ask for this post.
Eri's quirk didn't break the stakes in her introductory arc because she had absolutely no control over it. Rewind was just as likely to kill the heroes as it was to save them.
But the cracks started showing quickly. Mirio losing his quirk was cheapened by him immediately bringing up the possibility of Eri using her quirk to get Permeation back. And somehow she managed to do that without consequences in less than a year. This could have been fixed if say Overhaul isolated a specific aspect of Rewind in the quirk erasing bullet and her use of the full quirk led to a different result. For example, maybe Permeation would come back altered or Mirio would lose all of his memories from the moment he was rewound to before he was hit with the quirk erasing bullet. At the very least then he would have to relearn the quirk or relive his grief of Sir Nighteye and lose his memories of taking care of Eri.
There was this undercurrent from the First War Arc on of "well Eri could fix this" whenever a character was severely injured. It was especially bad in Act Three. All for One was just rewound out of existence due to his own hubris rather than actually having the heroes (or Shigaraki) defeat him. The use of her quirk in the final fight between Izuku and Shigaraki just destroyed the stakes of an already bad fight. It had been foreshadowed since Act One that Izuku might lose the use of his arms. It ruined the tension for Izuku to get his arms back two seconds after losing them while trying to reach out to Shigaraki. Beyond that, why did her quirk work with just the horn, why did they know that would work, and why was her contribution to this final arc being completely objectified again whether it was the bullets made from her blood or the horn.
Beyond the stakes issue, Eri's character also presents a thematic problem. Eri was a character who spent her life being used as a weapon for her quirk. Her arc was supposed to be about learning to be about becoming her own person and accepting herself. Yet almost all of her dialogue after the Joint Training Arc was about using her quirk. She was used like a plot device for her quirk when the entire point of her character was to criticize viewing people as tools for their quirks.

hc for Katsuki's sidekicks:
two sidekicks who are UA 3rd years/just graduated and they're both girls and very competitive rivals who are very serious in their job and they both grew up admiring Katsuki's skills, passion and spirit when he's fighting so they want to surpass him (that's why he accepted them). But they don't really like each other and get annoying sometimes because they fight and argue a lotttt, like imagine they're in a mission and are arguing through the comms and Katsuki is so annoyed and face palming telling them to "FOCUS IDIOTS" but he secretly smiles because it reminds him of his rivalry with deku when they were young.
They also spent their 1st and 2nd year internships with Katsuki and he trained them soooo hard because he sees boys and girls equally and also saw so much potential in those two. that made them so happy (I'm assuming their society is still misogynist like it was during the sport festival)
Part 2 of my sidekick au
#Katsuki being a hero dad and mentoring the girls#They're going to be a great team#Those two have strong quirks and no one else has ever let them to exceed their limits except Katsuki#Because now “everything is peaceful and heros won't be needed” but my hc is Katsuki is one of the few ppl who never believed it#Omg maybe i write more about these ocs and make some personalities for them#Katsuki Bakugou#Bakugo Katsuki#Katsuki Bakugo#Bakugo#Katsuki#mha oc#Bakugou Katsuki#Mha#Bnha#My hero academia#mha headcanons#my hcs#mha hcs#Basically all interns or side kicks before them were snowflakes and cried each time he was harsh on their training except these two#I need to give them some back stories I already have some ideas hahaha#And no they are NOT childhood friends or even in the same class but one of them is in A the other one in B but they're rivals#They saw the war in childhood and since then Katsuki is like their idol because he saved all might even though he was in a terrible physica#Conditions and won against afo while he was so damn cool and having a grin#Omg imagine when they were still in their school would fight and say ranking system is shit and dynamight deserves better#But when they are sidekicks years later it's not fan/idol relationship anymore they would be true team workers but still are kinda fans yk#Sidekicks hc#Dynamight sidekicks

how have I never thought about how Hawks' favorite hero was Endeavor, when he himself acknowledges that his quirk's greatest weakness is fire and Shigaraki's favorite hero was Eraserhead, the one hero who could take his quirk away
#i am unwell about the parallels between these two at all times but this hit me like a truck#something something the appeal of no longer bearing the responsibility of the thing people have been using you for almost all your life#or something#i've had emotions before about the whole 'you really are so cool eraserhead' thing but like i'm thinking about how technically#afo could have taken shigaraki's quirk away at any time#and shigaraki knew that#he could probably have even taken it and given it back to learn how better to teach him#kind of like what aizawa wanted monoma to do for eri#like. another layer to this for me to rotate in my brain#and also. both hawks' and shigaraki's quirks are so integral to the purpose they've been raised for be that to save or to destroy#me when i do basic reading comprehension: 😮#takami keigo#shigaraki tomura#liza blather#doing the theres no good tricks but old ones dvd commentary and i just stop and stare into the middle distance for a bit

Fulfilling my quota of Touyadoomposting by going back to this theory and expanding it. This is mostly a crack theory except instead being funny everything is just horrible lololol
Ok so as silly as the Tenko's entire life being orchestrated by AFO pretty much since he was born reveal was, it also gave us the fact AFO used to have drinking dates with his father specifically for the purpose of making him as abusive to Tenko as possible.

Combine this with the weirdly OOC fact that Enji gave up on achieving the number one place at the ripened age of 20. Sure, Allmight's shining beacon of hope and strength may have been a source of great jealousy for a young and upcoming number two pro hero but come on now. 20 is still a teenager, why are you giving up without even trying.
Enji's admirable hero quality is determination.

No matter how insecure he secretly was, giving up at 20, with a perfectly healthy body, and putting all of his determination into making a kid with a quirk stronger than his own and making that kid achieve his dream in his place, is not even backwards logic, it makes absolutely no sense. Enji is not even one of the quirks obsessed characters, he has never been interested in anyone's quirk besides his own and his sons'. Despite his weakness (overheating), he is all about pushing through and overcoming it. To put this shortly, Enji is dumb as a shoe a very single-minded person. This is simply not someone who would entertain such concepts as perfect quirks or eugenics.
You know who does though? Yeah, this guy.

Enji is ruled by his emotions and has tragically low emotional intelligence. This makes him very susceptible to manipulations. And AFO is one hell of a manipulator. A villain obsessed with destroying Allmight and the number two hero who dreams of throwing Allmight off his pedestal. Why wouldn't AFO seek him out? If he saw that seed of self-doubt and carefully nurtured it, Enji giving up despite being so young would start making sense. Enji seeking out a quirk marriage would also make sense (I refuse to believe this man is the only one who came up with this idea in the entire manga). He clearly didn't know what he was doing.

Even choosing a Himura as a candidate for his little eugenics experiment would start making sense if it was actually AFO's suggestion. The Himuras are famous for their strong ice quirks, and Enji's goal was creating a heir whose heat tolerance would be higher than his. This is basic logic. Having babies with a woman who has an ice quirk and is vulnerable to heat won't land you any kids with a fire tolerance higher than your own. He set himself up for failure, they all came out like Touya

Granting Enji's logical thinking abilities the benefit of doubt, we look the other way and spot Garaki being involved in this case. AFO wanting to see what would come out of genetically combining strong ice and fire quirks just for the sake or his curiousity makes so much more sense than Enji being unable to comprehend his choice for the quirk marriage wasn't even fit for his goal. Touya did eventually end up in AFO and Garaki's child laboratory, which was the purpose of Garaki fronting as a quirks doctor for kids. And Enji was in contact with Garaki since Touya was 4 years old.
Also makes for such an evil irony that Touya's trauma stems from him seeking a reason for his existence and not finding one. And the entire reason for his very birth is just AFO being a cold-blooded quirkist manipulator
#bnha#shigadabi parallels going insane as usual#what if you and i were victims of an eldrich mastermind villain who orhestrated our lives to be as inhumanly miserable as possible.#and we were both boys#the image of enji having yaoi drinking dates with afo is the wildest conclusion out of this tbh#dabi#todoroki touya#boku no hero academia#bnha theory#anti endeavor#using this tag just because i hate him even tho this post is basically his character study#bnha spoilers

If I can be real for a second - what turned me off from BNHA/MHA wasn't even the series itself (though it def has some things I don't care for in the later half) but the fucking real life League of Villains stans who just CONSTANTLY blasted the hero side and acted like LoV were totally in the right just because they have tragic back stories where they were abused or failed by society (it started getting truly unbearable when Hawks killed Twice, like jesus. I will forever argue his actions were entirely valid, if misguided, given the information he had).
Because... it's literally the gif.
The who damn point was that they had valid points, that hero society was fucked up and failing the people who needed help the most... but LoV were not against MURDERING GENUINELY INNOCENT PEOPLE and thus had to be fucking STOPPED. They didn't just kill heros, they'd kill civilians as well. They were actively continuing the cycle that hurt them, just for the other half of society. Their actions weren't about making everyone equal, it was about making others suffer and putting themselves at the top.
Their reasons being understandable and sad DON'T MAKE THEM THE TRUE GOOD GUYS. Just like the heroes weren't purely the good guys because they fought bad guys (fuck Endeavor, all my homies hate Endeavor). It was gray vs gray, not black vs white. Both sides had something they needed to learn or understand, and change as a result of.
I just got so sick of wading through 'LoV is right!' 'Kill Hawks/All Might/etc.' 'All Mights a bad guy' rhetoric, I couldn't enjoy MHA.
#ditto rambles#mha#dont fucking debate me im not here to debate#all the fucking hawks hate was so baffling#like my god HE HAD A POINT#TWICE'S POWERS WERE TERRIFYING AND WILDLY DANGEROUS WHEN LOOKING AT WHAT WAS COMING#WHAT IF FUCKING AFO TOOK IT? OR MADE A SUCCESFUL COPY OF IT????#JUST LOOK AT WHAT TOGA DID WITH IT#YES TWICE WAS A COOL DUDE AND ITS SAD THAT HE WAS KILLED#BUT HE WAS WILL TO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE#heros should 100% be expected to take villians in ALIVE if at all possible#but it wouldn't always be possible!!!!#and if your weighing the life of one man to the hundrends possibly thousands he'd be willing to kill for his friends#hawks choice MADE SENSE#and no one likes it when you point out hawks was basically groomed to be they way he was by hero society#just like shigaraki was by AFO#making BOTH of them victims of society#in different ways#suffering has many shapes and forms#anyhow ive been thinking about this a lot#...all that said i do like to pretend more of LOV survived and are living happy lives#hopefully not murdering indiscriminately

head canon/ theories for who Hisashi is and role he'll play in the story
With DFO resting in the grave, I thought I'd give a few of my other theories I have come up with for Hisashi over the years.
He's the person the Deku narrating everything too. IDK why but for Some reason I always liked this theory. Although there no evidence that Deku is telling the story to anyone, I can't help but think it's neat.
He studies quirks, like that his job. Considering 80% of the world has a quirk I think it's fair to say there would be people studying them for many different reasons. I think he be this strange mash up of a doctor, scientist and academic. His job would make him travel around the world and study bizarre, amazing and dangerous quirks. It also be a great tie in stories wise to the quirk doomsday theory, if it turns out he was really away studying to see if that theory is actually true. (I also think that where Deku pick up his hobby for studying quirks as well) his job would make him have to be away from home for long period's of time and not easy to contact sometimes. Despite how interesting his job sounds, it actually involves a lot of paperwork and reviewing and research.
When he's home he's usually home for a good six months or more, and typically the three would do things together when he's home. Inko doesn't mind Hisashi job because he was doing it long before he met her and didn't want him to quit doing it just because they got together. And like most Japanese housewives she controls the finances he just makes the money that give them all comfortable lives.
I think he's a quite, charming guy who keeps to himself, unlike Izuku and Inko he's much more calm and never cries. He very much like's his life, he has no dreams or goal to become a hero or be out on some battle field. He's a passive guy who isn't big on violence, and see's the value in a ordinary life. I wouldn't think of him as a pushover, but like Izuku he's nice to everyone he meets. Also like Izuku he is the person you do not fuck with, he seems like a guy that vaguely feels like he's been through some stuff, it take a lot to get him mad but when he is, you run for the hills.
Izuku doesn't think of him much because he knows his dad doing just fine and is used to him going away on long trips. But also because as much as he hate to admit it, Izuku does not want to end up like his dad when he grows up. As much as he loves and respects Hisashi and think he's a good man with a stable job, he feared that if he grew up to be his dad then it's an admission to giving up on his hero dream, and just being content with ' an ordinary life'. Something he does not what to think about now that he had a real shot at being a hero. That being said, If Hisashi where to come home at anytime Izuku would absolutely be happy he's home and they go do something together.
Hisashi is the person who introduced heroes and heroics to Izuku, and arguably shaped how Izuku viewed them, and how Izuku would believe a hero would act. Hisashi like Izuku is an All Might fan, just not to Izuku level. Izuku only vaguely remembers, but Hisashi was the one installed a lot of values that is ingrained in to Izuku being, of being a good person. One of them being to never give up on saving a person and that everyone deserve a seconded chance. (I think he'll show up at some point in the flash backs that are happening)
His is neither supportive of Izuku hero dream nor is he dismissive, ultimately he just believes that Izuku life is his own and Izuku can do what he wants. Hisashi just there to provide Izuku with every possible pathway he can get, no matter how impossible they may seem.
He's AFO son, because can you imagine how hilarious that would be.
#I joked about it in a another post but if Hori ever dos do a sequel comic to mha I want Hisashi to be the main character#and for it to be a prequel story that just follows the crazy shit Hisashi got into in his youth and what a world look like pre-All Might#Telling Izuku about some major stuff that went down with AFO and heroes and the likes.#Basically acknowledging that if Hisashi had been in MHA it would have been a lot shorter story and they would have known things a lot soone#bnha#midoriya izuku#bnha spoiler#boku no hero academia#midoriya hisashi#hisashi midoriya#dad for one

Quick s7 premiere thoughts
Loved the new episode, I sure wasn't ready for Afomura becoming a thing so soon, like that scene is still... that
But otherwise wow
also a quick thank you for this scene having THIS track (a bit off from the original version) and voices of both AFO and Tomura mixing in places there
to other things
little dangerous hand man
I'm in love with the ending... "Believe" and "Sketch" and now this one are like a Holy Trinity of Villain connected endings and this one FEELS like it belongs to MVA or something like that WAY MORE than the ED version of Believe did, even if the song was directly connected to Tomura and Izuku via text
that's just my "I want THIS SPECIFIC WAY" of wishing an ED was and I got what I wanted in a way with everyone from the LoV having their moment to shine (from the current arc aside from Compress) - so Spinner, Toga, Dabi and Tomura all have that. IN BOTH ED and OP
and then OP is like
this
so yeah, happy s7 day
#bnha#not art#shigaraki tomura#league of villains#tenko shimura#spinner#toga himiko#dabi#toya todoroki#mha season 7#first thoughts#I disliked the OP when I first heard it but it grows on me#sooo now it's like 2-3 months until Tomura takes his control back#and maybe they'll stop before that happens but unlikely#but AFO's return is too recent to be in s7#for now it's time to patiently wait for next ch spoilers#I've recovered from the last one again#I still need to know what Horikoshi wants to tell#and also just curious about what happened to everyone in LoV#like dead or no#and what's with Tenko.#Tomura is once again dead temporarely but that happened like 3-4 times already#every Tomura and AFO scene is better with "Power of All For One track#and a lot of them do have it as the main track and I love it#I have a love/hate relationship with that track specifically#scenes with it in MHA and MVA are my favorites for how much worse they become with it in the background#and the track itself is like a lullaby really calming#but I hate AFO with passion and that track plays at the worst times for characters#so basically enjoy it for the role it plays and how it sounds but hate it for the context

As An IzuOcha Shipper…
…them not ending up together isn’t the problem.
Horikoshi taking the “leave it up to interpretation” approach and then proceeding to COMPLETELY AVOID ADDRESSING their relationship status is the problem.
Horikoshi failing to tie up that one last loose end for Uraraka’s character arc (not closing off her feelings) is the problem.
Again, I ship IzuOcha. Still do, because I’m stubborn. Would I have liked for them to end up together, even if it was only a somewhat blatant implication that could be handwaved? Obviously. But you know what? Maybe I would be upset if the story went out of its way to explicitly de-confirm any chance of Midoriya and Uraraka being a romantic pairing, but I’d at least respect it and understand it a lot more if the story let Midoriya and Uraraka actually talk about this, or at the very least SHOWED US them talking about this. I’d understand if Uraraka completed her character arc by having a heart to heart with Midoriya and telling him that her feelings have changed, her priorities have changed, and Midoriya understands and they remain good friends. Let’s be real, romance isn’t Horikoshi’s strong suit, despite his many attempts to leave romantic implications throughout the series. I’d completely understand if he just had Midoriya and Uraraka talk and they didn’t end up together, because at least then it still provides both of their characters with closure.
But no, that’s too simple. Let’s just “leave it up to interpretation,” because it clearly wasn’t that important, right?
Well, as many people on the internet have already brought up, if it wasn’t so important, why did you spend so much time putting emphasis on it? Why did you have Uraraka, up until the FINAL WAR, have her crush on Midoriya be a crucial part of her character (it wasn’t her only character trait, mind you, but it was still important)? Why did the penultimate chapter have the class come to comfort Uraraka and tell her that they can talk to her… and then come the next chapter, Uraraka apparently hasn’t done anything regarding her supposed crush on Midoriya? For literal YEARS!?
…see, this isn’t even a shipping problem anymore. This is a character problem.
Horikoshi, for whatever reason, chose not to include a romance for the main character and his supposed love interest. And again, that’s fine, not every story needs to be a romance. Two problems with it here though (well, one problem and an observation):
1) Choosing to not at least address the romantic subplot with a “I think we’re better off as friends” encounter, thus actually concluding the subplot and providing a sense of closure, not only leaves the result feeling underwhelming and frustrating, but also actively damages Uraraka’s character arc. We can have her address the problem that caused people like Toga to exist, but heaven forbid she talks about romance with Midoriya.
2) Despite his supposed aversion to romance, Horikoshi still went out of his way to give Gentle and La Brava wedding rings… he’s willing to establish a side romantic pairing without bringing too much attention to it, but he can’t be bothered to do something similar for the arguable MAIN pairing? It’s the “Togata has special clothes so he doesn’t end up buck naked, but Hagakure’s still gotta go commando” debacle again…
I’ma go ahead and wrap this up ‘cause I don’t wanna keep y’all much longer, but like… being optimistic, this ending was… functional. I’ve got my problems with it, obviously, I don’t think it was BAD bad… but it certainly wasn’t good. It works. Barely. And it’s ‘cause of stuff like this.
Midoriya and Uraraka didn’t need to end up together, truly. All Horikoshi had to do was put the smallest amount of effort and give us something of substance, something with closure. Instead, we got what we got.
I get that he was exhausted and wanted the manga to be over… but that excuse only holds up for so long.
