to any americans who feel "paralyzed" and "dont know what to do" to help with gaza:
reading a fucking book. i beg of you.
in a time of knowledge suppression is it your duty to arm yourself with knowledge.
read about americas occupations in the middle east.
read about 9/11 from outside of america and see how they inflicted senseless harm and violence to countless amounts of people and have been suppressing your rights for the past 2 fucking decades.
read about any of the countless wars from the past 30 years. especially from a civilian's. and the victims and survivors' perspective. listen to the horror stories and do not plug your fucking ears as to what your country is doing.
and read about fucking gaza and palestine and keep up with what is happening no matter how "sad" or "uncountable" you might get.
dont look away from this.
you dont have the right to be comfortable during countless active genocides.
if you're knowledgeable, you're powerful, and our current state doesnt fucking want that.
you have the power to change things if you open your eyes and scream to the world.
wake the fuck up.
Edit: please check the reblogs there are readings and ways to help

you motherfuckers have no concept of what "land back" or "decolonize" even mean. you're too busy demonizing entire groups of people, terrified, shitting yourselves, that they'll do even half of the horrors to you that you've done to them for decades or centuries. this shit comes off as hella racist for real. you hate arabs so much. you hate first nations people so much. you hate black people so much. even if you sympathize with them, you can't fucking bear the idea of them gaining freedom, independence, autonomy, safety, because you're so, so scared they'll hurt you back and cause chaos in the streets. these same people who just want to rebuild. who just want to go home. who just want to see their families again. who just want food. who just want medical care. who just want dry, warm shelter. you're so focused on the ideas of colonization, of "us vs. them", of one people displacing the other for a state to exist, that you cannot comprehend coexistence, and your only idea of peace is if an entire group of people were just gone and dead.
grow the fuck up. for the love of GOD, grow the fuck up.

can’t talk about it
[ID: Black and white comic of Vash and Wolfwood from Trigun Maximum. The comic starts with the sounds "thud, thud, click". Vash, mid-action of peeling an apple, turns to the sound, noticing who it was that entered, and says, "Oh, Wolfwood, you're back." He resumes back to his apple in the next panel as he speaks, "Where'd you go? You snuck out of bed quickly this morning..." Wolfwood's hand then enters the panel, hovering over Vash's cheek and Vash looks up as Wolfwood asks, "Can I?" Vash responds, "Not going to talk about it?" while using a hand to gently hold Wolfwood's hovering hand and presses a kiss to his inner palm.
Vash then gets up fully, setting down the knife down on the table and the apple onto a plate, He leans into Wolfwood as Wolfwood explains, "Had to meet someone. Nothing interesting to talk about." Vash kisses Wolfwood's left cheek and a hand moves to cup his other cheek while muttering, "You're being vague." Wolfwood says neutrally, "If yer really that curious, keep askin'. We  can talk about that instead of doing this." Vash leans back and responds, "Let's talk after, since... You look so tired."
The panel pans to a close up of Wolfwood's downcast eyes, bags heavy underneath his eyes. He doesn't allow Vash to sit in that moment for long though, then saying, "Yer not helping, Spikey. Being all slow with it... I could fall asleep right now." He moves his hand to start unclasping Vash's coat, starting from his collar. Vash with red cheeks, responds briskly, "Oh, shut up. I'm worried about you. I can't be worried?"
The final shot shows Wolfwood's back to the viewer while Vash's softened expression can be seen as he holds gently onto the side of Wolfwood's face and a hand firm on his waist. Wolfwood responds, "I'm fine, seriously," pausing for a moment before continuing, "Is it okay to still..?" Vash responds, "Yeah, it's okay."
The next image is a shot from later that night after the previous comic. Vash and Wolfwood are now in bed, half naked. Wolfwood's buries his face into Vash's chest, his arms wrapped around him, while Vash is petting at his hair. Vash reminds him, "Hey. You said we'd talk about it." Wolfwood pauses for a moment before piping up, "In the morning? I'm sleepy." Vash says, "Okay..."
The next two pages start from the morning after. Wolfwood is already fully awake, pulling on his outer jacket as he says to Vash, whos' still bundled in his blankets, "Breakfast is on the table. Make sure to eat it. I'm going to grab some things in town and then we're leavin'. Got it?" Vash says, "Mh." Wolfwood responds, "Good. See ya in a bit." The dialogue starts to shift into Vash's inner thoughts now, as he gets up and eats toast, thinking, "Wait. Weren't we supposed to... talk about it?" The next shot then shows him fully up, meeting Wolfwood in town. He carries a half worried expression with him while Wolfwood slides on his glasses for him. A quick panel shows Wolfwood's tired expression from the night before and quickly juxtaposes with Wolfwood in front of him who's smiling gently, the shades covering his eye bags. Wolfwood asks him, "Still not awake yet?" Vash pauses, his thoughts stirring, thinking, "Oh. I guess I was getting ahead of myself... thinking you owe me that kind of honesty." He smiles at Wolfwood and responds, "I'm awake!" His thoughts continue, "Maybe one day, you'd trust me enough to share your burdens."
The final image shows Wolfwood pulling at Vash's cheek and Vash complains, "Owwwww why..." Wolfwood quickly says, "You were thinking something stupid, right? It's all over yer face." Vash mutters, "Nooo, I wasn't..." END ID]

E-mail exchange between Elizabeth Dwoskin of the Washington Post and Ali Abunimah, Executive Director of the The Electronic Intifada.
Transcript under the cut.
From: Dwoskin, Elizabeth Date: Thu, Jan 4, 2024 at 11:09 PM Subject: Time-sensitive: Comment for an upcoming Washington Post story
Hi there, I cover social media for the Washington Post, and am writing a piece about efforts to minimize or misdirect information about the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel. As part of this piece, I am noting various headlines on your service that point to evidence of Israeli deaths being caused by the Israeli army. I'm also noting that many people I've spoken to who belief that the IDF was responsible for Oct 7 cite the work of Electronic Intifada. For instance, in the article here, your publication claims "The confession, discovered by The Electronic Intifada, is one of the highest level confirmations to date that Israel killed many, if not most, of the civilians that died during the Palestinian offensive." The referenced confession appears loosely sourced. It derives from a YouTube channel from a self-described israeli general who was not there at the time. It does not say "most." Do you believe that Hamas was behind the Oct 7 attacks, as is well-documented? Why does your publication claim otherwise as noted above? We describe Eletronic Intifada as a far left publication that is focused on Palestine and has an anti-Israel bent. We'd appreciate your comment in the story. If any of this seems inaccurate to you, please let me know. I can be reached on Pacific time in the US at [REDACTED] Many thanks, Elizabeth
Ali Abunimah Re: Time-sensitive: Comment for an upcoming Washington Post story
Dear Ms. Dwoskin, Here is my comment: It would appear that the reach and success of The Electronic Intifada in debunking and exposing the kind of pro-Israel propaganda routinely published by the Washington Post is now causing enough worry that you have been assigned to do a hit-piece, in which labels such as "far-left" and "anti-Israel" will be deployed in order to try to misdirect your readers from our careful, factual reporting. More accurate labels for our publication might be pro-fact, pro-Palestinian rights, pro-international law and anti-genocide. But if you consider facts, and the existence of Palestinians who speak up to be "anti-Israel," then that is a reflection of your anti-Palestinian bias, not of our publication. Your reliance on the labels you propose is a signal to me that you and your publication have been frustrated by the accuracy of our reporting, translations and analysis and your inability to poke holes in it. Thus you will take the lazy route of using dog-whistle labels. We are quite accustomed to that. You may have a different interpretation of a story we reported, which is your right, but I emphasize that you haven't pointed out any error in our large amount of reporting on October 7 and the Israeli genocide that has followed. Nonetheless, you are clearly fishing for some kind of "gotcha" comment in a desperate attempt to further your smears. I'm very proud of the good, solid reporting we do and that it was our publication that first fully translated the interviews of Yasmin Porat, the Israeli survivor at Kibbutz Be'eri, who revealed that it was Israeli tank fire, not Hamas, which killed her partner and other Israeli civilians there. Does your newspaper, which has neglected this key story, dispute that? We're very happy to see a wide and growing audience for what we do: careful, factual reporting, and that this is causing worry at your offices. Our work is more vital than ever as corporate, pro-White House, pro-Israel, anti-Palestinian outlets such as yours continue to mislead the public. We will keep doing our job of careful, factual reporting, and I have no doubt you will continue doing your job of smears and propaganda on behalf of supporters of genocide. I will be most pleasantly surprised if you were to include my comment in full in your upcoming article and allow your readers to be the judges of who is most trustworthy. Yours, Ali Abunimah Executive Director The Electronic Intifada

"...Hello? Ma! I told you not to call me today, I'm making a movie!" -Wario, Mario Power Tennis
The most important lesson from Ma that Wario took to heart was the endless pursuit of cold, hard cash. Unfortunately, the one lesson she could never teach him was the importance of hard work to get it.  It wasn't for lack of trying; Wario's Ma is the hardest worker this side of the Mushroom Kingdom.  Raising Baby Wario was a herculean enough task on its own, but ever the enterprising spirit, she had also set out to grow one of the most profitable crops: garlic.
Her backyard business quickly expanded into a veritable garlic empire. Wario's mother toiled away tirelessly each day from sunrise to sunset to grow and harvest as much garlic as she could possibly achieve.  Much of Wario's current strength and endurance can be attributed to helping his mom on the farm as a child, although the teeth-pulling task of getting him to actually work was almost as difficult as preventing him from eating all the garlic straight out of the ground.  Wario's nose for instant gratification has always been a thorn in his mother's side, but try as she might to instill a solid work ethic into the boy, her "get-rich-slow" schemes could never appeal to him.  Still, Wario enjoyed his surprisingly agrarian upbringing. Along with garlic, his mother also raised chickens for eggs, inspiring in Wario a lifelong soft spot for poultry.  (He also had a pet hamster named Fluffy, who sadly passed away in 1986.)
Today, Wario is still on good terms with his mother despite their physical distance, and frequent phone calls keep her updated on all of Wario's business successes.  Of course, being Wario, he heavily embellishes the amount of work he actually does at his company.  If she only knew...
