#ALSO GROVER IS MY FAVORITE TBH

Bonds, Friendship and other strange things that are affected by it
Kanene’s notes: It’s been! A long time!! What a hello! :D Uhhhh, tbh, I am not sure when this is going to be posted because I haven’t finished writing the ending yet but at the same time I can’t think of an ending for it so dfgthyujuhygtffg let’s see which part of me will win when this comes out xD
(Edit: So, I came here to post it unfinished but !!! a suden lighting of inspiration striked me so!! dfhyujikjh yay! another fic! lets gooo)
Warnings: None. Around 1000 words of Lee!Percy and Ler!Grover because those two are incredibly fun and cool to be around and think about.
[~*~]
Grover cared about Percy. He really did. Of course. No one would create a bond that can possibily cost your life with someone that you didn’t trust as if the own Destiny had intertwined your existences to follow each other at the hardest times. Especially if that other person was a half-blood that was more into fights, problems and almost-death situations than most teenagers could admit.
So, yes, he loved Percy. He was his friend. His best friend. And maybe a brother, but this title was already well placed in Tyson and he was not about to fight a three foot tall cyclop for it. He had enough fighting and marrying cyclops for his life. Thank you very much.
Anyway. Love and Care. Yeah.
But this was starting to get ridiculous.
Happiness and joy exploded in his chest like fireworks being set off just under his skin, leaving his entire body with a buzzing, kind of tickly feeling running just about everywhere.
"My gods, Percy, I am not even touching you!!" He had to almost physically bite the giggles that threatened to spill from his throat.
Percy wasn't so lucky. His face was already beginning to be tainted with red by both the unstoppable onslaught of titters and snickers and the embarrassment of Grover being absolutely right.
"Shut up, shut up. You're so stupid, this is so stuhuhupid!"
"Really?" Grover rested his hands on the other's sides and almost jumped in surprise with the phantom feeling of ticklish shock that made his body want to curl in a ball of protection.
It was no surprise when the younger began kicking and crackling even before Grover squeezed the tickle spot as if his life depended on it.
"Pehercy! There is no way someone can be that ticklish!"
“Shuhut it!”
And that was the thing: Percy was actually NOT that ticklish. He swear that he wasn’t! If he crumbled just with the slightly hint of wiggly fingers and a couple of squeezes, Annabeth would have destroyed him on all their playful debates for now. Damn, if he was that sensitive, he wouldn't have survived his own childhood with a mother that was as sweet and as lovely as merciless during an attempt to cheer her son up.
But he couldn’t articulate this. Not when that dumb bond could make him feel not only his own butterflies flying and dancing crazy on his stomach, but also that sunny feeling of a playful joy that he was sure that came from Grover's pride making the Son of Poseidon, who survived two gigantic wars and another countless life-threatening fights, die with just some digging on his ribcage and oh, shit he was getting higher, nononono-
"Stohohohop!!" He arched his back, hands holding Grover's wrists but too much weak to push the scribbling fingers that were focusing too much in that awful space between each rib to be fair away. He was sure the entire world could hear the way his laughter got higher and louder even before Grover decided to close his hands in fists and drill his knuckles on the skin.
For a moment Percy almost regreted embarassing his friend in front of Juniper, but the feeling almost as quick as it was gone.
"I hahahahate this. I hate this so much!"
Grover didn't even falter for a second, barely stopping to acknowledge the happy warmth - like watching the sunrise in the beach with your favorite people around you - that definitely wasn't only his taking over his senses before answering. "Yes, Percy, of course you do. Just like fishes hate water, but you do."
"I'm serious!"
"I am literally agreeing with you, dude."
"No, you're not!"
"Now you're just making stuff up."
And before Percy could protest more Grover decide to finally end the other's suffering and worm his way to the armpits with ease pratice, barely fliching at the honest-to-the-gods scream that came out from his friend's mouth before he fell in silent laughter, his entire body shaking with every giggle and hands twitching between hiding his face every time another snort was fished from his throat or keep trying (and failing) in pry the offending fingers from their unfair, drilling attack on the ticklish pits.
A faintly sound of leaves moving was the only warning that they weren’t alone anymore. Grover smiled even before the so known amused voice called their attention.
"Oh, it's you. I thought the Stymphalian birds were back for revenge. Hi, seaweed brain."
“Hey, Annabeth!”
With all the noise, Grover was surprised Annabeth took as long as she did to appear.
Percy seemed to think otherwise.
"No!" Suddenly his efforts to escape got 10 times worse, which, since he really wasn't trying to truly get away from the very beginning, made it see like Grover was fighting against an old lazy chihuahua. "How did you find us!"
"Did he interrupt your date again?"
At the reminder, Grover fred the rest of his fingers to claw at Percy's belly - right above his bellybutton, wehere were storaged the best collection of snorts and shrieks, while his thumbs were still drumming on his armpits.
"Yes." He had to shout above the other's high pitched laughter. "And it's Kill Percy Thursday!"
“How could I forget?” The blonde started cracking her fingers, making bubbly excitment run so quickly and strongly in his senses that Grover had to stop the tickling to snicker, instinctively fliching away. Annabeth eyed both of them with a glint of fondness and amusement that did nothing to hide the pure mischieviousness taking over her expressions. “By the way, I think I am owned some revenge since someone decided to prank me with those fake books last week.”
“It was good knowing you, dude.”
Joy and warmth and pride and care chasing each other in his chest while he tried to keep the daughter of Athena away from his tickle spots with no sucess.
The things he had to put up with because of his friends, really.

Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief:
Holy shit there was so much I had forgotten here that I felt ashamed. I haven’t been able to reread the series since about 7-8 years ago but my books are practically falling apart from the amount of times I did read them as a teen. I remembered the gist of things but completely forgot about: The journey to Waterworld, freeing abused animals in Las Vegas, the helm of darkness being a part of things, the fight with Ares, CRUSTYS WATER BEDS, the obsession with Italian suits, how bad I felt for Cerberus and the red ball, Gabe’s abuse, Hades slander that will not be tolerated because dude’s chill tbh, Zeus being way more petulant than I remember (somehow) and it this makes me so much more excited to see how the series will bring this to life. Anyways, rereading this story brightened my day, brought back wonder to my life and I give it a 10/10.
Will each season be one book? Because with Disney’s obsession with only having around 10 episodes per season I worry things will be rushed. Especially in the later books when things get really crazy REALLY fast and there’s like 50 things happening at once (if I’m remembering things properly)
Random tangent, but Chiron is portrayed as this wise dude but how come he keeps forgetting that you really shouldn’t be trying to interpret the Oracle’s message? He’s been doing this for ages, how many times have his interpretations ACTUALLY been right? Still love him tho. Also, did the woman who was there with the Chimera and remembered everything a demigod? She recalled everything (just didn’t have the right words for it) so it kinda seems like the Mist wasn’t impacting her.
Favorite quote:
“‘How’d you die, then?’
I nudged Grover.
‘Oh,’ he said. ‘Um…drowned…in the bathtub.’
‘All three of you?’ Charon asked.
We nodded.
‘Big bathtub.’ Charon looked mildly impressed.”

Also character ask ZIGGY
Character Ask: Ziggy Grover
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First Impression
-Definitely falling under the average green ranger stereotype of being the silly but less engaged member of the team, though that is quite alright cause he'll probably give some positivity to the team due to the state they are in via the season
How I Feel About The Character/Impression Now
-.....I love this twink and honestly me and everyone else should love him, the fact that he was in a mafia, managed to escape, gave medicine and supplies from said group to orphans in needed AND GOT OFF SCOT FREE WITH HIS TOASTER BOYFRIEND speaks volumes.
Favorite Moment
-So far has to be that scene between him and the cartel where he's got that serious face, I'll have to go back and fully complete RPM but seeing Ziggy look so cold is amazing.
Idea For A Story
-okay think of this....Ziggy as a Peter Pan type character who was reborn in another world that raises orphans or children who've passed early and they live in this alternate world with magic, at the same time he's an assassin that's teaming up with Dillon and Tenaya(who also have powers based on fairy tales) to steal ancient treasure from a tyrant king in order to rule the rule, Once Upon A Time walked so this can run.
Relationships
OTPs
-Ziggy/Dillon....obviously, can't have a happy twig without his grumpy muscular emo boyfriend.
-Ziggy/Scott, Ziggy/Flynn. Both these work really well in my opinion.
-Crackship idea if this crossover was ever a thing...Ziggy/Jarrod/Dillon/Casey, imagine all that chaos together with those four like(I'd pay to see a one shot of this tbh). Heck not even a crossover needed because JKP exists in the RPMverse and assuming the entire team is alive then this could fly, crazy twinks and the emo duo.
BROTPs
-Ziggy/Dr.K, honestly feel like he understands Dr.K and they are really close when it comes to hearing each other out, plus Ziggy might actually get her to enjoy some hobbies.
-Ziggy/Casey...seriously Disney fucked us over from ever getting this interaction, be happy with marvel I guess but imagine the send off you could've had.
-Ziggy/Tenaya, she needs earplugs every time he talks about Dillon...
Unpopular Opinion
-Kinda wish we got even more of a backstory for him or seen Ziggy encountering other green rangers. I feel like both him and Trip would get along quite well to be honest.
One thing I wish would/had happened in the show
-....We serious? That Jungle Fury/RPM crossover obviously because ALL THOSE INTERACTIONS AND SUCH WOULD'VE BE LEGENDARY.
-Even if he didn't end up with Dillon we should've had Ziggy kissing some guy.
-Imagine a scene of Ziggy hacking Venjix down with his axe after he found out the program's intention for Dillon, or if Venjix succeeded and Dillon died...it would've been brutal like Ziggy would be shown Venjix why the cartel kept him around🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
Headcanons
-The RPM team technically has sentient zords because in reality they hold secret Engine Souls like their Go-Onger counterparts. This is actually a result of humanity evolving and without the vitality from Earth's nature so their animal spirits evolved into Engine Souls, thing is the team hasn't unlocked them but when they do the zords will be able to talk(a little fib of my JFAU movie arc idea with RPM cause we deserve that crossover).
-Ziggy's fingernails can turn dark green because of Venjix exposure, some humans after being exposed to the virus during their apocalypse developed small traits via their survival(Scott having sharper canines, Summer being able to detect metals for tools, Flynn when growing out his hair has white highlights and can absorb radiation, Gem and Gemma can see people's dreams and Dillon can purify dirty food and water).
-Ziggy sleeps with a huge dolphin as a pillow or just something to hold whenever he's sad. If he can't morph then he'll fill it with rocks and beat down venjix monsters with it.
-Sometimes when he would leave the dome(before the world began to return to normal) he'd walk miles until making it to the ocean since it wasn't fully destroyed and enjoyed watching the waves. Plus that spot is the only one in the world where the stars in the sky are still viewable.
-After RPM Dillon, Tenaya and Ziggy ventured out into the world to see what needed to be fixed, they built a railroad and it oddly began to glow with energy. This led to the team getting powers via trains and soul power with imagination, humanity's will to keep going(ToQger adaption), villains born from the deceased malice of humanity aim to take advantage of this world and others leading to the team having bigger stakes than last time.

Charlie goes to his crusty bedroom and reads his precious Moby-Dick essay one more time while glugging from a two-liter bottle of bed-Pepsi. We get to hear his favorite part of the essay: “The whale doesn’t have any emotions, he’s just a poor big animal.” As a fat person who has actually read Moby-Dick, even the “boring chapters,” THAT IS NOT WHAT MOBY-DICK IS ABOUT OR WHAT MOBY DICK THE WHALE IS LIKE AT ALL. Obviously we’re supposed to draw some parallel between Moby Dick the actual whale and Charlie the human whale, but, like, why? What shallow fucking bullshit! Can you even map one on top of the other at all? Has anyone ever read Moby-Dick and thought, “wow, what a pathetic loser” about the whale? The ungraspable phantom of life himself???? Thin people don’t think of fat people as powerful and inscrutable phantoms—they’re absolutely positive they can scrute everything about us, our “everything” being CHEESY BUGLES! Hence this movie!!!!! Don’t talk about my favorite book, DARREN. I don’t come to your house and explain The Mystery Method wrong! Anyway, then Charlie uses his cursed rusty mobility aids to turn out the light and go to sleep. Spooky!
[...] How do fat suits work? Does Brendan Fraser have to wear individual little sausage tubes on each finger? I can’t stop thinking about how many awards the visual effects people (or whatever department makes fat suits) are going to win for this. It’s like if I got a Nobel Prize for drawing a mean picture of your grandma. Also, for the record, I know the fat suit was really expensive, but it looks weird! It doesn’t hang right! He looks like the mascot for an NBA team called the Wichita Big Pile of Raw Chicken. Hmm, if only there was a way to depict a fat person in a movie without an expensive flappy silicon slug bag!
While Charlie is in the bathroom crying (really), Thomas shows up again and Ellie introduces herself: “What’s more surprising—that a gay guy has a daughter, or that someone actually found his penis?” Wow, once again, thank you so much to Darren Aronofsky and playwright Samuel D. Hunter for spending TEN YEARS on this extremely humanizing screenplay! I feel seen, unlike my own genitals!!!
Charlie is so moved that he goes, “You wrote these amazing, honest things… You’ve all been so honest with me. I just want to be honest with you too.” And then he TURNS ON HIS WEBCAM and SHOWS THEM HIS HUGE FACE AND BODY! All the students lose it and they’re grimacing and cowering before him and taking pictures of the screen, LOL, even though literally it just looks like a regular guy???????? It’s a Zoom square! It looks like a close-up of a guy’s face! No one would have any reaction to this! If there’s one thing this movie does perfectly, it’s trick thin people into telling on themselves about how uncomfortable they are around fat people!
Then Liz comes back and reveals that, LMAO, what happened to Alan is that he starved himself to death (kind of), and that’s why now Charlie has to EAT himself to death. Wooooooow, who wrote that brilliant juxtaposition? Grover??? Is this supposed to be profound? It's less nuanced than when people say “the terrorists hate our freedom”! Actually, you know what? This detail with Alan is the central problem with this entire movie: Being thin is not the opposite of being fat!!!!!!!! STARVING IS NOT THE OPPOSITE OF EATING. Having a body is a complex state! [...] Then they clarify that actually Alan starved himself ALMOST to death and then jumped off a bridge. Jumping! The most thin-privilege way to die!
sorrynotsorry bout all the whale poasting but this review by lindy west was very cathartic for me! its a shitty movie and extremely triggering not just for fat people but anyone with any sort of complicated feelings around food and your own body tbh. so im sharing it here. butt news has a free subscription and lindy west is hilarious so. go read it and maybe read some other reviews too

as for my top five, i'm a basic bitch haha

!!!!! I am so excited that we will get to see the story in some form eventually! ATC is one of my favorites because there has never been much like it, with all the cousins meeting early and just being ✨them✨ together and watching the chaos around them unfold so the idea that we get to see more of that someday is so aaaaaa<3!!!!! The rewrite outline looks so cool, also like it’s gonna be more canon compliant/ see how much can be changed behind the scenes w/o really effecting the main story and that’s always such a cool premise in a fic and I am So Excited, despite how different it’s going to be from original ATC.
Have an amazing day/night/timezone:)
For the first one, at least, I'm going to be focusing more on Thalia, Luke, and Jason during the first half. I actually really like Jason, which is uhh a controversial opinion, and the only reason why I think more people didn't like him was because we didn't get a five part series exploring his adventures first. We have a list of the notable stuff he's done canonically, at the end of TLH, and I think that'd be really fun to explore with Thalia and Luke quietly losing their minds lol.
I'd love to involve Percy more in the first part, but Sally went to extreme lengths to keep Percy with her and I don't think she'd give him up very easily. Canonically? It took a Fury, the Fates, and the Minotaur to separate them for the summer, and nothing less would do it again, not even some well meaning teens that have combat experience.
I'm toying with the idea to do away with Camp Half Blood's magical border entirely. Replacing Thalia's sacrifice with Clarisse seems a bit cheap to me, honestly, and when I first did it I wasn't sure what else to do--but it would give them an excuse to say, "no thank you," to staying at Camp. The border had been there for only five years prior to Percy arriving, probably less. Most of the older demigods probably remember the days before Thalia's sacrifice, canonically, and that's why there was quiet but mass panic about Thalia's tree dying in SoM.
The first part is the one that will stay the closest to canon. The farther we get into the story, the more it will diverge.
The Golden Fleece has already shown that it's a massive power source, enough that Thalia could part from the tree and still have the magical borders there. I'm kind of idly wondering if I should establish the borders during the rewrite of SoM, and what would motivate anyone to search it out. If the borders haven't established, and Clarisse yet lives, then Grover is no longer in disgrace and is not trying to risk his life to find Pan, though he might do it anyway. I'm thinking of running a quest for Jason concurrent with the SoM arc, and maybe he gets into trouble and that's when Thalia has to go rescue him and get the Golden Fleece. The narrative parallels would be delicious, but I'm still mulling it over, and it requires me to change bits of the first part too.
(And this is why I'm doing outlines first this time )
(Suddenly realizing I'm going to need a red string conspiracy board to keep track of all the moving players during all of this lmao)
Like during ATC, things would really heat up during TTC rewrite. Now you have five of the six Big Three Kids, and they're suddenly realizing what exactly is going on with their power spiderweb thing. I'd also really like to highlight Thalia's struggle with power, and have at least one supervillain moment where you can truly see the trained, dangerous daughter of Thunder. The Ophiotaurus, especially, was canonically a powerful lure for her, and she's already made her annoyance with Olympus frighteningly clear.
(If Percy regularly frightens people, demigods, and gods, without even trying to, Thalia can definitely do it on purpose. I will enjoy that more than I probably should tbh.)
My timer is up so I need to go back to restoring my window, but do send me more asks, or reblog this with something, I will absolutely talk to you more about my thoughts on the rewrite, and it helps me figure stuff out too. 💜💜

goddddd the percy jackson show and its cast has my whole heart!! i can't believe how much i can feel the characters with them it's amazing.
i was a bit skeptical at the very beginning but literally as soon as walker started narrating i was on board. i'm not even upset they didn't dye his hair--he reminds me of a surfer with the blond tbh.
Leah is amazing!!!! Annabeth was my favorite character in the books (i'm a blonde white girl, sue me) so i was worried i wouldn't be able to relate as well but oh my GOSH she wonderful!! Im a bit old to feel like a deep connection but she's very on brand and i think she fits her perfectly!! (also i love black hair styles and i keep wondering how and if they'll change it up in the next season! like Circe's island??? it'll be so cool to see!
grover is also wonderful! i want to hear more about the aging explanation cuz the book one is hazy and i'm curious if they changed how it works at all...
overall the show is fantastic so far!! it feels so much like the books, but it also really hits on just how fucked up the entire situation is--they're CHILDREN!!! it already has more nuance and more depth than the books (not their fault, u can't do as much with 1st person POV and percy is a complete fish out of water so we miss a lot of stuff) so i'm excited to see how they change and adapt things to fit current times!!
Please watch it legally if u can!! I'm not the biggest fan of Disney but, i'm anxious about getting the next season green lit 😅

Soooo, what are YOUR thoughts on the movie 👀?
OMG YES thank you! I've been so excited and waiting to give my thoughts on the movie, glad this ask trade worked out.
As I mentioned when I asked this to you, I was lucky enough to catch this in theaters (I went with my dad :D). It was one of the most entertaining theater experiences because of how excited I was and how GLORIOUS it was to see all the Bob's Burgers characters on the big screen (spoiler alert: I love the movie). The animation was 11/10 chef's kiss on a theater screen. Also, for some reason, the sound system in the theater we were in was TOP NOTCH and had such good quality, it made everything sound amazing too, especially all the songs.
Speaking of the songs, I love all of them so, so much. I've listened to all of them on repeat so much, it's insane, especially "Sunny Side-Up Summer". It's just so catchy and upbeat and fun and just gah, I can't get enough of it. It encapsulates the feeling of summertime so perfectly, it's hard to put into words. I just wish there were one or two more of them to listen to and geek out about! I especially love the very brief "Sunny Side-Up Summer" reprise that Linda sings. It just shows off her and Bob's relationship so well, as well as Linda's personality--her giddy nature and boundless optimism getting through to Bob, even for just a second, is so freaking wholesome. Also yes, everyone's muppet dancing is brilliant and I can't get enough of it.
Well, just the upgraded animation in general is SO GOOD. It helps that they got the largest team possible to help give the character designs more detail and to make the animation so much more fluid and bouncy! Comparing it to the show's animation feels like night and day, it shows that they were determined to make it look worthy of the big screen. But if another person ever tries to comment on the Bob's Burgers style being ugly, I shall immediately point to the movie (I do actually enjoy the Bob's Burgers style though, even just for the show).
The plot itself is also super fun. Some people have commented on it just feeling like an elongated episode, and while I can see that, I do appreciate how they managed to up the stakes for the movie in a meaningful way whilst not deviating from the nature of the show. It would've been so easy for them to have something super insane happen to kickstart the plot, and while what actually happens IS insane (I mean, hello, murder!) it's not so insane that it feels unfaithful. And in general, having the movie be a murder mystery is wonderful--I mean, not the murder part, obviously, but it makes for quite an intriguing mystery that needs to be unraveled. The fact that they foreshadowed the sinkhole exploding by having people trip over the sidewalk in Season 12 is amazing.
Tbh, I don't even care that it's VERY obvious in hindsight that Grover did it (I mean, they would never remove Calvin or Felix from the show) it still surprised me, and I think he's my favorite villain the show has had. He's even more deliciously evil than Felix was in the two-part season four finale, and "Not That Evil" is just a masterpiece, it had me wheezing so hard the first time I saw it. I mean, his weirdly high-pitched voice and flailing dance moves? Yes. Also, the way the song is structured as well is just satisfying to me, for some reason. I think it might be the transition from Calvin asking him if his entire plan is about his mega park idea, and him singing about his entire idea for the mega park, I don't know, the way he sings that is great. And Linda going "Ooh giftshops!" is hilarious. He's so horrible and it's a delight to witness his insanity unfold.
The humor in general is also very great and very well done. I mean, it's Bob's Burgers, of course, the movie is going to be funny. But the jokes just keep coming, especially from my boy, Gene. I mean, him going "Can I say, 'Honey, no!'?" lives rent-free in my brain. Also, Mickey going "Cops don't dance around like that. They dance like this!" and then him doing some strange, unexplainable dance moves is peak comedy. Plus, I think Sergeant Bosco's role in this is what solidified him as one of my favorite side characters. He's too funny, trying to insist that being in Robbery is great while being terrible at going undercover--and then he gets a legitimately awesome moment in the end when he gets to arrest Grover! Love that for him.
And YES, I one-hundred thousand million percent agree that Bob and Linda are SO FREAKING SWEET in this movie. They might be at their best here, or at least almost at their best. Not only in how they interact with their kids but with each other, of course. Linda beginning her role in "Sunny Side-Up Summer" by insisting that Mr. Dowling is going to say "Oh wow" to their food, and nothing's going to stop their business? Yup. She is always giving him the encouragement about the restaurant that he needs, and it shines so well in this number. Not to mention I just love John Robert's singing voice as Linda for some reason, especially when it blends with H. Jon Benjamin's. Very satisfying. Plus, she shows off even more of her partner of the year tendencies with that wonderful scene of them in bed together, having that extremely touching and real conversation. The flashback of Linda being pregnant? 🥺
She's such a good wife for reminding him why he started the business in the first place. Then punches him in the nuts as "a metaphor". God, I love her.
Plus, that scene of them all in the sinkhole near the end, with Linda actually straight-up giving up for once, and thinking that they're all gonna die? I mean, Jesus. Rip my heart out, why don't you. I kinda wish they spent more time on this, Linda being so downtrodden and how that's affecting her. And as for Bob, he definitely shines at this moment. His realization that he needs to step it up and give back Linda's optimism is something I didn't know I needed. Then he actually succeeds in getting them out and saving their lives! But not before that scene of him talking about his mother, COME ON. My heart couldn't take seeing his mother's face for the first time, plus toddler Bob!!! I also love how he wants to go save the Fischoeders on his own immediately when they escape, but everyone else joins him without hesitation.
I also gotta mention Louise's whole arc, because it's also what makes this movie. I love how it's mostly centered around her thinking about her bunny ears and what they mean to her for the first time. It was super interesting seeing her doubt herself and her bravery so much, to the point where she gets convinced by melted Kuchi Kopi to go into the sinkhole because she always seems so self-assured on the outside. It's really nice seeing her actually crack the murder case eventually, and even save the Fischoeders' lives in the end. Plus, gain the courage to do the "Dead Man's Drop" and ultimately feel okay without her hat for a few seconds.
Going into the not-so-positives, I also agree that Gene deserved more! It feels like everyone else in the Belcher family got more to do than him, it would've been interesting to see him doubt his musical abilities again--it did seem like they were laying the groundwork with that, with his daydream nightmare about the robots insulting his music skills. Maybe even having him being in a band be useful for something in the plot. Though, his bonding with Mr. Fischoeder over playing the organ was very wholesome. And he's still probably the funniest one in this movie. I also definitely agree with wishing the side characters got more time to shine. Teddy got a ton to do (his enthusiasm about the cart/the olive bar is incredible) but the other side characters, like the ones at Wagstaff, are just kinda there and then gone (even Courtney just gets a blink-and-you'll-miss it cameo in "Sunny-Side Up Summer"). And while I appreciate the fact that Mort appears in the movie, he also gets literally nothing to do.
I get that they needed to focus on the main characters for the movie, but it is still a shame. I honestly enjoyed what they did cook up (hah, I didn't even mean for that pun to happen, if you can call it a pun) so much that I just wanted more. Seeing some of the deleted scenes they had definitely solidified this, they NEED to rework that deleted scene with Bob, Linda, and Teddy in airport security for an episode or another movie or something, because it's pure gold.
There's just a lot you can do with these characters and this world that they weren't gonna be able to do everything or please everyone. However, they did make a solid movie, in my opinion, and despite the fact that I've already watched it three times, I highkey want to buy the Blu-ray just to listen to the commentary and go through all the other behind-the-scenes stuff. Even though it's definitely not perfect, I will fight for this movie if I need to.
Also yes, the fact that out of all the characters, Jimmy Jr. is not given a dance sequence during the end credits also haunts me. Like, what?? Seriously, Zeke and Andy and Ollie got dance sequences, what was the excuse not to put in Jimmy Jr.??? That being said, though, seeing Tammy and Jocelyn dancing in perfect sync was actually really sweet, a nice surprise.
Anyway, wish there were more Gene and more side characters and more Jimmy Jr. dancing (I think I just want more in general) but I do have a soft spot for this movie. I might revisit it soon, I want to write more about it on here, haha (mainly because I'm sure I forgot a few things I liked here).

I just saw my local universtiy put on The Lightning Thief musical and GUYS. IT WAS FUCKING INCREDIBLE. LITERALLY ALL OF IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD. Like the casting was good, the jokes landed, everybody stayed in character, all of the singing was fucking great (CHARON/MISTER D/HADES HAD LITERALLY SUCH A FUCKING PERFECT VOICE FOR THEIR ROLES I WAS LITERALLY IN AWE ANY TIME THEY WERE SINGING IT WAS THAT GOOD), all of the visual gags paid off, it was genuinely so fucking good!!!!
All my "theater" knowledge up until this point has been High School theater, and not great high school theater, so I was going into it expecting to have a pleasant but not overall mindblowing experience, you know, kinda trying to be chill about it. BUT THEN???? LIterally as soon as it fucking started I was like "Oh, oh this is like REALLY real."
And it was blackbox theater, which idk if that's a regular term of if it's just what my mom was calling it (she used to perform in this same theater that we were in, she's an alumni of this place) so it was super small, no real "stage", just a slightly raised platform and then chairs on risers along the perimeter. I kept making eye contact with the actor playing Ares/Gabe SOB that was really funny tbh. But I really loved it in that format because it felt way more intimate and like, real, if that makes sense? like it felt very On Brand for the musical to be taking place that close to the audience, and it genuinely sucked me in soooo much, sometimes I would register that there were other people across the room and I'd jolt like oh, right, this is a musical in this room we're all in aosiduaoisdu
I think Grover and Chiron were my favorite parts, though literally all of it was so fucking good I don't even know if I can say that. But Grover was jsut SOOO well done, like he was exactly how I envisioned him and also his faces and the physical gestures and everything were so Grover!!!! and Chiron of course was like, the perfect mixture of "I know everything and am your leader" and "i am a slightly bumbling idiot". His "tail" was a bunch of yarn stuck to the back of his pants and his "hooves" were the chorus making clopping noises every time he stepped (AND HE TOOK HIGH KNEE STEPS EVERY TIME IT WAS SO FUNNY. there was a gag where dionysus led him out of the scene by dangling a carrot and IDK if that's in the original musical or not but it KILLED ME)
I was so impressed by Percy and ANnabeth too!!!! percy's actor was for sure struggling near the end because, duh, it's a fucking hard musical, but the way they worked in water breaks for him and also the way that he handled it all was phenomenal! And Annabeth too, she had SUCH a hard role to play and she played it really fucking well, and confidently, and I believed that she and Percy's character genuinely were friends and liked one another. AND SALLY TOO!!! LIke she was soooo well played I really felt like she was Percy's mother, like she was there for him and loved him. And all of the scenes where there were like, interruptions, IE a character breaking into another character's lines like interrupting what they were saying, it worked out perfectly and was so natural which like, even in PRODUCED TV SHOWS AND MOVIES sometimes shit like that feels unnatural and that was genuinely part of what drew me in so much, it just all felt so NATURAL. Like I cannot even IMAGINE all the practice and hard work that these guys must've put into this production for it to be THAT good and well rehearsed. (again, all of my history of productions is high school productions so SOB BUT STILL!!!!!)
The fucking minotaruw as just two dudes running around in an enormous bathrobe on top of one another and THAT WAS ALSO SO WELL DONE LIKE LITERALLY
I could go on and on. I probably will go on and on (my friends and parents have already borne the brunt of my rambling because I want to REMEMBER THIS GODDAMMIT) in reblogs but wow. wowowowow. I HIGHLY encourage anybody who feels comfortable to go out and try and see a production of the musical if it's near you. Support your local productions and colleges and stuff. that was a damn good time.
oh damn and the fucking medusa scene? PErcy's actor literally running around waving his sword like a maniac WITH HIS EYES CLOSED and yet he didn't hit any of the people in the front row, who were on the same level as him. That was SO impressive, I was slightly in awe.
oh and YES, they did do the toilet paper visual. which ruled. obviously.
#the lightning thief musical#Percy Jackson#PJO#Annabeth Chase#Grover Underwood#i'm not gonna tag everyone I promise#my throat hurts from cheering for everybody at the end#I did wear my CHB hoodie but it was too hot (and I got embarrassed about it) so I took it off LMAO#and obviously it wasn't perfect or faultless#but I can excuse literally all of the mistakes and everything because of how fucking good the rest of it was#Did Grover miss a cue? yeah absolutely. did it 100% work with his character for him to hesitate at that moment so it actually felt natural?#yeah absolutely#(you could like tell that it was an error though bc he sort of broke character for a second about it)#BUT THEN HE ABSOLUTEly nailed TREE ON THE HILL AND I LITERALLY WANTED TO HUG HIM SO BAD BRO#Medusa almost tripped and fell on her shoes. also very on brand.#god that was just such a good time#and this is coming from a person who is SOOOO nitpicky and I generally latch onto all the negatives and bad things#I don't even care about all that. i loved it genuinely SO fucking much. oh my god.#I wish I had a recording of it so I could watch it all again rn not even lying#do i perhaps have a tiny crush on Chiron's actor? yeah of course I do don't at me about it he was cute and his voice was perfection#like percy almost flying off into tartarus was even so good. just all of it it was FUCK it was literally so good i'm just i'm crunching i'm#i love PJO so much man. it is UNHEALTHY how muc I adore this franchise.#i am also incidentally now 12 times more excited for the actual show to come out#but until then those stage actors are going to be how the characters look in my head fr fr

lmao idk she canonically went to prom with Grover and it went horribly she swore for years that he would grow up to be a serial k*ller and she wasn't wrong. She didn't even want to go with him she wanted to stay at home and watch a Star Trek marathon but her mom and his mom made them go together.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
this isn't a headcanon this is canon but I need everyone to know that she's a GAMER lmaooo likes cosplay and anime too. Teddy pulled a straight up nerd good for him.
6: favorite line from this character
after a successful double date with bob and linda Teddy says to Billie "This is great! you, me, Bob, Linda we can all be one big couple!" and she responds with "no ... well? maybe? I'll think about it."
7: one way in which I relate to this character
We both are not found of people and despite not being into the same things we are both huge nerds. And cat ladies!!!
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
idk she has a boyfriend???? that's kind of  embarrassing tbh
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?

Tbh the reason why I called out Eric as the messy one is bc we spend like what? Five seconds with him and you already were able to sculpt his character in a way that gives off this chaotic energy (a bit like hp hagrid “I shouldn't have said it” or Grover in pjo) and I'm here for it!! That's really impressive writing!! Kinda hoping for a friendship with changmin and Eric that reminds of the chaos the blurred lines gang had hehe
- what if anon
Asdfghjk ❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭 completely fair
I think all of my Eric's will tend to bring the chaotic energy bc Eric himself is chaotic energy 😂😂. Plus, we will definitely be seeing an Eric/Changmim/Chanhee/Sunwoo dynamic and... come on... those 4 personalities together?? It's gonna be such a mess 💀💀
Also, I just watched that Harry Potter scene the other night, and that's always been one of my favorite Hagrid character traits!! 😭❤️

When I first read Percy Jackson in the 4th grade, I was obsessed. I had hated reading up till that point, but my teacher read it in class and I enjoyed it enough to pick it up and read it for myself and have been engrossed in them and reading ever since. Rick Riordan's books fill my book case and Percy, Annabeth, and Grover will always hold a special place in my heart.
Now I'm a little weird when it comes to Halloween because I only like dressing up as characters who look like me (white, blond, female) I don't know why I do it but I pretty much always have: Cinderella, Aurora, Tris, Wendy, Barbie, Supergirl, you get the picture.
When I tell you I loved Annabeth because I saw myself as her, living this exciting life, I freaking mean it. I loved the idea of being able to imagine I was her, of dressing up as her for Halloween, and relating to the "dumb blonde" stereotype she dealt with.
Now when I tell you that I love that they cast Leah Jeffries as Annabeth in the new Percy Jackson show, I also freaking mean it. I haven't seen her act in much tbh, and I don't know a whole lot about her besides what Rick wrote about her on the announcement, but I fully support this casting decision. She seems perfect for the role and I think that if anyone should know who is perfect for the character, it should be the one who actually created them in the first place (aka. the author) so I'm not complaining.
Will I not see one of my favorite characters who I grew up with exactly the way I envisioned her on screen? Yes. Will I watch and love her performance anyway? Yes. I'm not losing a role model, she's still a blond, white girl in the books. Just now other little girls who don't have role models like that can benefit from the beauty that is Annabeth Chase.
They can see a girl who looks like them be smart and strong and be someone they can look up to. And honestly I have no issue with that. If you do, you're a fucking racist who should just keep your mouth shut cause no one cares about your shitting opinion.
K? K.
