Ace of Spades got replaced with the idea of Wings of a Valkyrie? Maybe? All my creativity is in the writing, not the titles.

Anyway, The Queen of Hearts would be with Cal-141, a squad of ODSTs, and the corpsman (medic) that she ends up attracted to. Still an outline, but I took the ODST idea I liked from the Naomi-010 story and took the rank away to have someone that's about as caring for the well-being of their fellow soldiers as Cal.

rewatching the second hellraiser and am interested in the specific “it is not hands that call us, it is desire” line, which makes it pretty clear that tricking someone into opening the box for you doesn’t mean that this person is doing the calling

which in the new one is very much what does happen, even down to the idea that someone can trick multiple people into getting taken by the box, but arguably a much bigger game is being played there and those unfortunates are “just” part of the original person’s overall choice (the bad guy secretly wants to become a cenobite as a way to gain ultimate power, the lead “chooses” grief/lamentation, and through that the ability --  or maybe trial -- to live with her choices)

so slight but significant differences in lore (of course in the first hellraiser kirsty opens the box by accident and is still considered fair game, so it’s got a bit of choose yer own adventure)

I do!! Metalocalypse is actually how my husband managed to do what so many exes could not and get me listening to metal. :B My baby also is a big fan of Galaktikon because I listened to it a ton while pregnant LOL

Fun story: Initially I really liked Toki because duh. Look at him. When my husband and his friend first introduced me to MTL, I looked up some fan stuff and was confused why everyone seemed to simp so hard for Pickles? I was like, "Why is everyone so horny for Pickles?? He has a dreadlock combover?? What is happening?" And they were like, "Oh yeah no I'd fuck Pickles for sure." And I was like, "!?!?!"

And then I kept watching the show and was like, "oh okay I get it, I would also tap Pickles."

DESPITE MY LOVE FOR THE DRUNK MIDWESTERN BOY.... I will always have a soft spot for Nathan because men who are built like a brick shithouse and paint their nails EXCELLENT. excellent excellent. Also his characterization is just so good and funny to me. The videos of him reading Shakespeare are relentlessly funny to me.

i don't really like when people say dungeon meshi is accidentally good autistic representation, because while i understand not wanting to make conclusions without explicit confirmation from the author, there's always the weird assumption that non-western authors somehow don't know about things like neurodivergency/queerness/etc. (on top of the assumptions that east asian authors are somehow more naive or oblivious to "western" social issues).

given that dungeon meshi started being published in 2014, it's not really a "work belonging to its times"—it's as contemporary as any other media we discuss on this site, which means it should be fair to assume it engages with contemporary topics (and at the very least, you shouldn't say that the representation is accidental with so much confidence)

but anyways, the chapter "perfect communication" in ryoko kui's "terrarium in a drawer" is some of the most straightforward autistic representation I've seen, and from now on I'm going to assume that laios's character writing is absolutely intentional in that regard:
