I wasn’t planning on this but drawing Waru happened so naturally, I feel happy drawing them and I’m creating so many details of them as I draw. ✍🏽✨

I really am proud of this. To share some more Aboriginal Culture and to show that Waru is proud to be Aboriginal and embrace their Culture and Traditions. Waru is Agender, so he dresses feminine, masculine and androgynous; even when doing Traditional Ceremonies and dances, she wear both men and women’s traditional clothes and paint and other props. ☀️🌕☀️🌕☀️

Hey Aboriginals of Tumblr, I’m a white Aussie trying to make an Indigenous character for smth and I need opinions on how he looks (aka, if shit need to be changed or whatever (and warning you now, even when I draw white people they don’t look real))

Here’s what I’ve done so far while I’m sketching, you can critic me on whatever!! Just please try to be nice I’m really trying

FINALLY drew one of my oc's who has been spinning around in my head for like. 2 years maybe. more info about him below if you care cuz i'm gonna write a lot of stuff

So basically this is my dude Sunny, known by his superhero name as Stormbringer <3 He's a metahuman with a lot of interesting different abilities that connect to like, the weather, the land, atmosphere etc. He's mostly known for making lightning and stuff but he's able to do other stuff too, like manipulating the other elements such as fire, water and other shit. I know some people are gonna be like "lmao airbender from atla" but actually I based his abilities off of what shamans from world of warcraft can do lmao. which is..somewhat similar.

As for his personality and just who Sunny in general is, he's an Australian Aboriginal man of the Gamilaraay people (like me!) Around about mid 20s when he joins the Justice League. He's a chill guy who's mostly patient with people and situations, and gets along with pretty much anybody he comes across (unless they're being a cunt lol). He can be a bit mischievous and likes to be naughty occasionally.

As a superhero, he goes John Stewart's route and decides to not have a secret identity because he thinks that shit is too much effort, but he also wants other Aboriginal people to have a public figure like himself to look up to and stuff. I'd say he's less likely to do crime-fighting stuff, and he's more like a fire fighter and a disaster relief guy (just with superpowers).

Also his "superhero suit" is just whatever the hell he's wearing at the time of a crisis LMAO he doesn't have the money nor the ability to always have a "proper" costume so sometimes he's just. wearing shorts. and nothing else. LMAO. but when he can, he will throw his custom jacket over his shirt and bugger off to wherever he needs to go. I imagine that he just bought a random ass wind-proof jacket for cheap and then painted the blue lightning design with fabric paint, and then glued a bunch of light blue glitter over the top :) and that's the extent of his "superhero suit".

I have wayyyyy more info on Sunny but I think I've written a hell of a lot already, so if you wanna know more just @ me or sum shit and i'd be happy to share more :)

Took a crack at making a spidersona! She quickly just turned into another OC (god help me) but I like how she's looking for a first go. Definitely going to have another go at her when I have some more time.

I kinda threw together a story in mind as I made her, but that's also subject to change. The gist, she's forsaken her dad's legacy to stalk New York as the pre-eminent hunter of the rich and powerful (for pay, of course). Spider-Man isn't the biggest fan, and wants her to stop wearing the mask, but if he wants it he'll have to take it.

She's very cocky, everyone hates it except her.

A few tidbits:

Her outfit is a customised rugby uniform. She played for years, before having to leave Australia.

The blocky shape behind her is an inverted satellite image of Gubbi Gubbi land. If she were animated, it'd flicker between hundreds of maps of the region in a "you can make of it what you will, the land's still mine" kinda way.

Her mum was an ecologist working in a valley in the D'Aguilar Ranges.

While under her father's thumb, she fought a teenage Peter Parker three times, each one to a standstill.

She does have powers, but she "doesn't do webs". Lizzie prefers to stalk her prey and strike when they think they're safe and alone. She also often attacks the same target several times, wearing their minds thins and resources thinner.

Stalking him home after one of their fights, she discovered Spider-Man's secret identity and planned her usual series of assaults. After observing him for a day she resolved he was a good person and undeserving of her anger.

After turning on her father, Lizzie laid low as a musician for a little while with a band called Doo Wada Numb. They were fine but sold very few t-shirts.

Dude trying to make a spidersona when you can draw is hard.

But guess what, im not useing even me, a talentless caveman wouldn't go that low.

And surprise surprise, its not that hard at all, shocker ik. All you have to do is not download/use the websites that are ai and BAM, your done.

If I can do it, so can you.

Anyways here's my consept for my spidersona in writing form:

Name: unknown (haven't picked it yet, names are hard)

Pronouns: he/they

Spider that bit them: either a funnle spider or a red back spider

Consept:

They are basicly just me as spiderman and becues of that I decided to lean heavily into my Aboriginal australian desent. So my spider sona is gonna take inspiration from my mob the taungurung tribe.

Tbh its hard to find info about my mob online and irl. but what I could find was that possem cloks are a essential part of the culture.

Possmem cloks are as you expect, made out of possem hide. They are made for a child when they are born and are added too as they age. They are not only used in ceremonies but also in for practical uses in the winter.

So I decided that will be a key part of my charetars costume. Along with their clok the suit will have some dot painting patterns on it as well as some traditional symbols along the arms and legs:

I decided that instead of shoot webs out of their wrist they shoot it out of a traditional hunting spear that they uses for fighting/swinging around (though might change it cuz funnle spiders whole thing is makeing silk webs)

again don't uses ai it hurts artists. If your really keen ether learn how to draw, write instead or uses picrews.

I'm writing a book atm and I'm wondering there's any dark skinned aboriginal, non binary, queer, new south Wales people who would like to be interviewed for it :D. The book has a dark skinned aboriginal new south Wales Australian as the main character and I'm not aboriginal myself so I need to learn how to properly write one.
